All right. Welcome back to Blue by 90. I'm Justin joined by Tanner today and it's April 23rd that we're recording this. We are post Michigan spring game. And I mean, I'm just going to go ahead with the downer right away. We don't have any Michigan football for what? Four or five months now. So yes, that's hard stuff. Yes. But we have, you know, Pistons right now.
True. Really enjoying the Pistons.
Love that.
Tigers, I know they just dropped to second place in the, in the league, but, uh, in
the, or in the division, but they're playing well.
Um, so, you know, we got some things that hold us over.
Uh, but yeah, Lyons draft this weekend too.
Brightside though, Justin, I mean, once you get past the spring game, it's basically
May, we're like three months from you know spring
practice so like we'll get there I mean it'll come I think I don't know what you
think you mean yeah I'm sorry full practice as we get older though at least
I does I go over I'm like I feel like it comes quicker every single year you know
and it's like you see kind of stop wishing away the days you just kind of
enjoy the days and it's gonna come eventually
like it's gonna be Fall in Ann Arbor. It will come, it will come and also in Ann
Arbor today it's like 75 and sunny out. It's gorgeous. I'm also a little bit, this is always
where I'm like listen I want Fall to be here so bad because I want Michigan
football to be here. I also love summer in Michigan, I want fall to be here so bad because I want Michigan football
to be here. I also love summer in Michigan and I want to enjoy that at the same time.
Yeah. So, um, so yeah, so I, I do love that. Um, Oh, we just got a text as well. Lions
versus chargers and Jim Harbaugh in Canton for the pro football game in July.
Wow.
That might be the most I've ever cared about
the playing football.
By far.
By far.
I think we talked about it in the show.
Like you get so excited before you're like football
and then it's like one series of starters.
If you can.
And then you're just like, who is this guy?
Like you, and it's somebody you don't even remember
from college football.
It's like, you're like, I don't know who this guy is.
It's, they really dive deep into the practice squad
for that game.
Yeah.
Which I get.
Either way, you get to see Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines.
You get to see Dan Campbell on the sidelines.
That's just football guy central.
Oh, man.
So that alone is worth the ticket of admission.
Yeah, those two are one of the, they're one and the same, right Yeah, those two are one and the same.
Right? Like those two are very similar football guys.
I would chill for like they need to do some mic'd up
and just like let those guys chop it up for.
I mean, that would be more entertaining than the game for real.
What do you think they chew?
I'm pretty sure that hardball is a
grizzly guy. Okay, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, I do not
like grizzly. I don't chew anymore, but I do. I've had
grizzly. I'm not a this not my thing. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I he
definitely is like he's not a pouch guy. I know that for sure.
No, he's full on.
Cathachan in his mouth. Yes. Yep, he's full on, all kind of body, Catholic hand in his mouth.
Yes. Yep. Um, and then I mean, there also was the, I don't know about Dan Campbell,
but the picture that went viral of him from last season where the bottom was his teeth.
That was, that was like 50 years of just a lot of, you know, and if I, you know, like Dan, you got the money,
let's see. Let's get some years dog. Yeah. Yeah. But I, that's, that's too, you know,
that doesn't, that's a football guy though. Right. Like that's football guy. That's a
lot of coffee and a lot of coffee guy too. Also, you know, do you think about like the
time for veneers, like that's just taking
time away that he could be watching film. Right. Yeah. It's like with Jim just wearing
this used to wear the same thing every day so that you just didn't have to think about
it. Yeah. Which is hilarious that like he stopped doing that and then won a championship.
Maybe just being a normal person. I don't know, Jim. You know, yeah, there's something to that. But all right. Uh, well, we did see
some football, uh, on the, uh, this past Saturday. Well, some of us, if you were in the big house,
you saw some football, um, unfortunately did not get aired until I believe this Saturday
it's coming out. Um, which is just like, I think that here's my take on that. A it doesn't really matter. It's a spring game, but B like the,
can the whole world of college football stop changing so rapidly?
Like I just want to be able to watch a spring game and I want the
fans like, why does it have to be so different? I don't know.
This just seems like we're, we're like we're getting too complicated with everything here.
Yeah, I get it. I mean, you know, you had guys last year that were poached and maybe because of the Spring Game film.
Right. You think of DJ Waller, played well in the Spring Game and then like immediately left to Kentucky and it's like raises some, raises some eyebrows. So I don't know, I don't mind. I mean, living here,
being able to go, it was just easy. You know, we took my daughter was our second time in the big
house. First time was the big house. Five K the week before, but this is really the first true
time. Yeah. You know, with Michigan football. Yeah. So, um, yeah, I will say though, I don't
know if it was because of Bryce or because of the TV restrictions or maybe a combo both and the weather wasn't so bad
Pretty full. I mean on along the sidelines like in the end zones
Not really we were kind of in the corner just kind of wanted to be away from people with you know
Having a nine-month-old of the game or whatever
But it was pretty full man. Like it was a good environment. I'm sure the recruits enjoyed it
It was pretty cool to kind of see the big house at least
That's like probably the most people I've ever seen in a spring game in my time going to them. I mean, I remember going to like, oh, nine 2010, like whatever data was a freshman, like I remember going to those when I was younger. And it was like sleeting, like the 2010 spring game was awful, just leading. So I think the weather probably played a hand in that too, but a lot, a lot of people and,
you know, it was windy. So what was, so I was over in, uh, Schembechler hall, uh, with, yeah, we're doing an event there, but what was like, what I was more excited about is like the buzz
around, like when people like saw Bryce, you know, come out for the first time.
Yeah, it was cool.
Uh, people were pretty excited.
And then the first play was a sack, uh, cause like somebody got B I don't
remember who it was so quick to, it was very quick.
Um, but no, I think people were really kind of like, what, like waiting to
ooh and ah, and then like a pass will fall and complete
and the whole stadium was like, ah, you know,
it's kind of that vibe.
But like I said, it was windy, hard to gauge.
I think Bryce definitely like, okay.
So one thing that I'll comment on,
the Ohio State and Michigan State fans,
like there were Ohio State fans at the stadium.
First of all, I'm not gonna judge
what you do with your free time,
but you're never gonna see me go to Columbus,
Ohio wearing Michigan to watch your fucking spring.
You can even if I lived downtown Columbus, I would not do that.
No. So that goes, I saw a lot of Ohio State fans, a lot of Michigan State fans.
I just find that weird. I don't know. Like, Hey, you know,
if I was going to go to another team spring game,
I probably just wouldn't wear any team shirt or anything I just if I just
wanted to check out like Notre Dame because it was free to go I wouldn't go
there with a Michigan shirt I just you know what I mean but I saw a lot of
Ohio State Michigan State fans like talking shit on Twitter I'm like I don't
I tweeted this to somebody and I was like bro I don't know when your spring
game is I don't care.
You have too much time on your hands.
So there's I'm sure with the film coming out, there was a lot of really good throws that
Bryce made that were not caught.
Our boy Joe Taylor ran like a little I don't know it was it was that like the eight yard
line.
It was wasn't a slant was just kind of like a seam route.
And Bryce fired it in there.
And it was on the money and Joe
Taylor's, you know, Joe Taylor. He's a special teams ace. I don't know if he's a you know, you know
All big 10 receiver guy, right? Right and he didn't make the catch but but the throw from Bryce
You're like wow and then Bryce had another throw and I can't remember who the receiver was
But he threw it down the sideline all in the money. Was that Browder?
Yes, Browder. Yes, Browder.
It's going to be a good one.
I think he's got, you know, he's a true freshman, right?
Coming in.
He should be in high school.
Big, big dude, right?
Big and physically imposing.
So that was to hit.
That was to Browder.
You're right.
But it was a dime on the money.
And then there was a throw that I was excited about because it was again, to Browder.
And I mean, it was just a goal line fade,
but it was on the money and Browder just couldn't catch it
for some reason.
I mean, it was the, it was the like perfect spot
for that ball.
And you wonder if Bryce has Donovan McCauley on his team,
does that make a difference?
Cause McCauley made a huge contested catch
for Jayden Davis on the other side.
So yeah, but from Bryce underneath throws, super crisp,
I think he definitely learned throughout that game.
There was a couple of delay of games that you'll see
because he was trying to identify the blitz
and where pressure was coming from.
And he just ran out of the time,
but I'd rather that than him not think
about those sorts of things.
So he's obviously processing, it's gonna take some time,
but I think with another set of practices in the fall and all the summer workouts,
I think he could be really good as a true freshman.
You could tell that the talent's there.
I mean, that is first and foremost.
First of all, he's 17.
I think everyone's got to remember that.
The way that I keep saying it to people. So when we did our, you know, our project with him, uh, you know, where
he gave the car away, which was first of all, awesome.
Let me go on a little side tangent about that for a second.
Um, but amazing to work with him on that.
Uh, first of all, really, really good kid.
And I mean, just for him to, to want to do something like this is shows a lot about his character.
And I'm super excited for him to, you know, somewhat following JJ and Blake's footsteps and the fact of like giving back to the community is important and all that stuff. So very excited about that.
about that. Um, and just being able to interact with them there just showed a lot of maturity, you know, physical maturity. He is a, or I don't get, I'm six foot three, 215 pounds.
So I don't get like looked down on very often unless I'm around the football team, but like
he's all of six foot five and makes me look small in a couple of pictures. It's like,
damn, that's tough. But yeah. But then
I, you know, just from a maturity standpoint, like in mentally like really good kid came
up with, you know, had great answers, great things to say about Mike Dardy and everything.
So super excited about that part. But the other part that I like, I was using this to
remind people of where he's at
in life is I was talking to his Belleville principal while we're shooting
that video that day and she's like, yeah, we're so excited to have Bryce back
first for prom and I like it clicked for me that he should be a senior in high
school still right now getting ready for prom. And then I started thinking
about myself as 17 getting ready for prom. And I'm like oh my god this kid is like he
is the weight of an entire university and athletic department and fan base on his shoulders.
And he like in theory should be worrying about like what kind of suit he's going to wear
what kind of tux he's gonna wear to prom with his
Girlfriend right so that did put things into perspective for me. Yeah, he said he's oh he's over
Men's where I was getting fitted for
Wherever I don't know. I don't remember this I mean that was like school
But I I was like learning how to tie a tie
My my tux was like the worst fit of all time. Right. Like I had a bad haircut just because I was. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
And I went to great clips that morning.
It's great. I flushed it out, man. It was bad.
I was back at pictures and I'm like, who?
You know, who let me out of the house like that?
But yeah, I mean, you know, you think about what we were doing at 17.
Play Madden, you know, you're screwing around, you know, whatever.
And this kid's got to your point, the weight of an entire program on his
shoulders at this point, because Mikey Keane hasn't practiced, right?
So, so the expectation has shifted of like, okay, Bryce maybe takes over midpoint
at a midpoint during the season to now it's like, and I've shifted as well
because I also thought, Hey, Mikey Keene's going to start.
And now I'm like, well, I mean, it's probably going to be Bryce day one.
Right.
And that changes the dynamic.
Unless I mean, first of all, it's just hard to like, when you miss an entire
spring, it is very hard to get back as a newcomer.
So, so Mikey, in order for Mikey to, you know, put his name in the, in the
hat for, for starting spot, um, right now he would have to like, in some
sprint or some summer, like just drills in, in passing days have to like,
you know, turn some heads really.
Right.
So, um, I agree with you.
And I think I, I'm gonna assume until we're told something different that
Bryce is probably going to be that starter. Um, because even once you get
to August and fall camp, like, you know, I know Sharon says he's not going to
name a starter until then, but like, again, that's only a month. And when you,
you know, if you've only got a month of like team stuff to prove yourself, it's really hard for Mikey key.
So yeah. So anyways though, I think just talking about Bryce a little bit more, um, is he's
got the talent. Like you said, he obviously has arm strength. He has the mobility. He
showed it on a couple of scrambles. Um, and I think it's all going
to come down to making good decisions, you know, to your point, being able to read the
defense and read when a blitz is coming and not fold under pressure there. Um, but I was
actually, I commented on an Andy Staples, a video the other day of which I think this
is the correct tape. He doesn't have to be Trevor Lawrence in
year one for Michigan to win the big 10 next year or at least be a contender. He just needs
to move the ball along and not make a ton of mistakes, make some throws here and there
and also let Michigan with justice Haynes and uh, Jordan Marshall go crazy, right? Like
there still is that part of the offense.
So I just want, I want to say that to the Michigan fan base out there to our
listeners, like it's okay if he doesn't, if he's not Johnny Manziel on day
one of the spring game.
Yeah.
And then there was, there was an interception that he threw that, you
know, a lot of, uh, rival fans were like, you know, having a field day with,
which is just hilarious
If I don't know I think it was just music communication because I think it should have been a seam route and the receiver I did get was Shannon Goodwin who is you know going into his sophomore year. So he's still in his freshman year right now
broke it off for a dig route probably should have been a seam and so Bryce threw it and there was nobody in the area right and
I I I broke it off for a dig route, probably should have been a seam. And so Bryce threw it and there was nobody in the area. Right. And I, I, I looked at my wife and I was like, there are people that are going to
like, hold onto that, like Michigan fans that are going to like freak out.
And I even heard people behind me, like there is no one close.
And I'm like, dude, relax.
It's a, it's a practice.
It's a practice.
He's got another, you know, four months of this kind of stuff, even before he gets
to the next set of practices.
So, and before you finish your thought too,
sorry just to jump in, but like,
and I'm just gonna go ahead and say it,
he's gonna throw some interceptions.
Yes.
That's the reality of the situation.
Yes.
JJ would have as a true freshman as well, right?
Like JJ, and JJ didn't have to get thrown into the fire.
I don't know if Bryce has that luxury, but also, you know, you're coming in and you're earning a lot
of money. And so yeah, you should play right? Like he, I think, you know, I always kind
of thought even if Mikey Keene was healthy, Justin, and maybe I'm, I don't know, I always
thought he was going to win the job. Like I just think the talent is too much. He is,
he has been the number one player in his class.
And maybe, you know, maybe even he was the number one player
in the country regardless of classes, like a junior,
but he has been the number one player for four years.
He came in as a true freshman
on one of state championship at Belleville.
And that was Belleville's first, right?
When they couldn't get over the hump
and then finally Bryce got him there.
So, I mean, we've been here about Bryce since like 2020, right?
So I just think that he's got the ability to what we were talking about earlier,
deal with this pressure.
Well, he's been there before.
Yeah, he definitely has.
He, and I would say like one, one takeaway from the game.
And I'm, I'm curious to see this on TV how this looks but like even though you know
not everything went well he looked comfortable right I know it's a spring game there's no
opposing fans there's not really pressure but like there is some pressure there right
it's your first kind of like time that you're being revealed to the Michigan fan base you
know you've been hyped up like crazy there definitely is some pressure in terms of like oh shit Oh shit, what if this doesn't go super well? What am I going to do? And I felt
like he looked the part he didn't look the eight. The game was not like sometimes when
a guy is very young and is thrown into the game like that, the game is super sped up
for them and you can just see it. You know, you're like, Oh my God, they feel like they need to get rid of the ball in two seconds. And as soon as they feel pressure,
they bail. Um, you know, I love Davis, but we saw some of that last year from Davis,
right? And he'd get that, right. Um, uh, but I didn't feel that at all from Bryce. And
again, maybe it's going to be different when you go to Oklahoma week two probably is going
to be a little bit different
But from right now that was just a very encouraging thing that I thought I saw from him
So I you know how how much does that translate into a real game?
We'll have to see but I think that that's something that you're looking at because you know, he's got the arm
You know, he's got the legs, you know, he can do that for me
It's some of these more like intangible things
that I'm looking at to see if he can really be the guy or not.
Well, yeah, I mean, I know it's a two-inch touch
on the quarterback in the spring game.
So it's hard to know what he would have done
if the defense was going full speed
and he was going full speed.
But I thought there were moments where he stepped up.
And I'm like, that would have been a first down. He did have a, he did have a time where he got outside. He stepped up
and ran left to the wide side of the field and picked up like 15 or so yards. Um, also
he was like smiling the whole time, which was funny. Um, so what's your read on that?
I mean, I think he's just having fun, man. Just playing football. Football is fun. Football
is a struggle. It's a difficult sport to play.
It's a difficult sport to prepare for
because there's so many things
that are physically demanding and difficult
from lifting weights to,
I mean, not necessarily for a quarterback,
but it's a really tough game,
so you have to have fun playing it.
Otherwise, you're just gonna hate it.
So I think it was just him having fun.
So I'm gonna share this.
So, you know, there hadn't been much in terms of offense
in this game, like I said, it was very windy.
There were some drops.
I mean, Michigan's defense, by the way,
we'll talk, it's gonna be nasty.
Yeah.
But so there hadn't been much going on, right?
There's like 10 seconds left.
My wife turns me, she's like,
hey, do you wanna take some family pictures? And family pictures I'm like yeah they're just gonna run the
ball right no then comes the double reverse flea flicker touchdown and I'm
just sitting like an asshole like getting pictures taken from you know
Caleb but he's just like yelling like double or reverse flea flicker and I'm
like I'm committed to the bit I can't't turn around now. So I didn't even get to see that in person.
Um, I just turned around, but yeah, it was, I mean, look, Hey, you know,
they, I think obviously the coaches knew what the fans wanted. They wanted,
you know, some big touchdowns and I mean, you know,
maybe you got to cheat a little bit to get it as far as the plays you're running
in the spring game. But, um, you know, the last thing I'll say,
like I, I miss it as already, but like I seriously, the arm talent,
I think he had a ball goes 62 yards that just hit the white on the backside of
the end zone on a throw. Um, but yeah, I mean, like some of the throws,
like the one that Joe Taylor got there in a hurry, like it,
I don't know if he's going to be as good as JJ was. I mean,
JJ won defeated the national championship,
but like, I think the arm strength is a touch like Schaenger.
He's still very, you know, he's got a lot of time to develop that.
Do you remember like, I went to the Western Michigan game in 2021.
Yeah.
And I remember watching, cause JJ didn't enroll early, did he?
I don't think he did.
I thought he did. Did he? I don't think I thought he did. Did he?
I don't remember if he's in the spring game either way.
I just remember watching him in warmups like, oh, hey,
this ball is coming off different than the other quarterbacks.
It's the same thing with Bryce.
You could just tell there's a different level of arm talent
that comes with a kid like this that you don't see every day. Yeah.
And so let's talk about his supporting cast around.
Yeah, let's talk about the 104 other football players on the team.
We've got 20 minutes just talking about Bright.
I mean, that's the reality.
That's probably going to be how this off season and even when we get into the season is going to go.
That's just the way, you you know the way it is.
But I want to talk about you know the wide receivers again to your point.
I from what I know Donovan McCauley has shown to be wide receiver one pretty easily.
And so I will be curious.
You know, it would have been nice to see Bryce to
McCauley and see what that looks like.
Yeah, no, McCauley was on Jayden Davis's team on the maze team.
So, but he, like I said, he had a big catch.
I think a lot of the like starters played a couple of series outside the set of
Bryce, like a lot of starters played it.
And then you didn't hear from them because I think it was kind of sat out.
Um, but yeah, so McCauley had a big catch.
Uh, Bryce really likes Cheney and Goodwin again. I think Browder is out. But yeah, so McCulley had a big catch. Bryce really likes Channing Goodwin.
Again, I think Browder's gonna be a really good player.
Marsh had a drop and then he had a really nice catch
on a hitch and then he turned upfield
that for like maybe 10 to 15 yards.
He's gonna be, he looks really smooth.
Like you can kind of tell like watching his film,
it's gonna translate like his speed.
He's just a kind of a long strider.
So like you can kind of tell that that translates,
watching in person. And then Jalen Marshall at tight end had a really like, is he, I always thought he was kind of more of Hoffman. Hoffman. What did I say? You said Marshall. It's, I think
that's another, nah, yeah, I just come now. Jalen Hoffman. Yeah, that
was unfortunate on my end. But no, Jalen Hoffman had a really
strong outing. He's the one who scored a touchdown on Bryce's
touchdown pass at the end of the game. He I was thought he was
like supposed to be more of a Bredesen. But like he I think
he might actually be able to play like tight end like legit.
And not in the way that they just line up. Brady outside
like, you know, when we complained about that.
What about Marlon?
Um, I don't know how much I saw of him,
but obviously we know Marlon's going to play a lot.
Pogan Hansen, too. I don't remember seeing much of him.
I don't know if he played.
It was kind of hard to watch the spring game
because there's so much going on.
It's so fast, too, by the way.
So it's really kind of hard to know the spring game because there's so much going on. It's so fast too, by the way.
So it's like really kind of hard to know
who was on what team.
I love Carl.
Carl was not on his game.
He, what did he keep saying?
Carl Gravenside?
Yeah, he kept saying,
he just kept saying the wrong name on somebody.
And I'm like, Carl, it's, I love you.
You're the goat.
You know, he just kind of phoned it in.
So it was hard to know what was going on. You know,
everybody is on it's spring game for. Yeah. It's spring break. You know.
Yeah. So for Carl Graviton, I was like,
because there was a couple of times where like he would announce who made the
tackle. And then like, I'd be waiting to like hear, and he just wouldn't say it.
So it was kind of hard to keep up. So maybe, you know, if you
listen to this and you watch it and you're like, what are you talking about? You, Marocline had
three catches. I don't know, man. It was tough to keep up with the pace of it. And like I said,
Carl was kind of like slower and like, he wasn't always telling you what was going on, which is
fine for the spring game. I will say though, Justice Haynes had a really nice run where he bounced out.
And then Jordan Marshall, I don't think did anything too crazy.
But again, it's hard to know because like what offensive line do you have? Like I know I couldn't tell you the offensive line splits and the way they were.
Like I don't know.
But I will.
So I will say I mentioned this earlier, the defense,
brother, I'm telling you, like these guys are fast.
Like they, they're physical.
They've got more depth, I think than probably last year, like Dominic Nichols, bro.
This kid came off the edge once and I was like, Oh my God.
Like, and that's a, that's a kid coming into his second year.
Right?
So there's a ton of talent on the defensive line, ton of talent linebacker and his house one looked really good.
Shamari Earls is going to be a dog.
Like he got tested early and they didn't get anything on him.
Jair Hill played well.
Yes, he is a big corner.
Mari Earls is like he is one.
He's not like built quite yet.
He needs to fill out. Yeah.
Very tall for the corner.
Yeah, I'm excited about the Metcalf brothers. They both
uh what I I'm gonna be honest. I'm still trying to figure them
out and who's who but one of them had a pick on on on Bryce.
That's gonna be an all season type. Yes. Yeah. Um what about
a pick Trey Trey Williams with the number zero looks like the
biggest person I've ever seen. You know, I didn't catch that.
Um the defensive line though. Yeah know I didn't catch that. The
defensive line though yeah they're they're big they're nasty.
Ray Sean Benny had a sack. It's gonna be interesting seeing Ray Sean at 55.
Like oh wait that's not me. You know what I mean? I saw defensive line
at number 26 and I'm like hold on that's not Ray Sean Benny what's going on?
Like I'm like you know it takes me some time to get used to it. But yeah the
defense is gonna be dude. It's TJ got like I was like it took know, it takes me some time to get used to it. But yeah, the defense is gonna be, dude, it's TJ got,
like I was like, it took me a second.
I was like, who's four?
I was like, oh, it's TJ.
Cause everybody changed their numbers this off season.
But yeah, I mean, they're gonna be nasty, man.
And that's for a team in the freshman quarterback.
And look, the team of the freshman quarterback,
guess what?
They're gonna be able to run the ball
and they're gonna play defense, what? They're going to be able to run the ball, and they're going to play defense.
Yep.
Right?
They're going to be OK.
They're going to be, I think, in the playoff contention
all season.
He does not have to go 25 for 35 for three touchdowns
every game, right?
If he does, listen, nobody's going to be mad.
Nobody's going to be mad.
But I think, to your point, they're going to be, you know, there were just, there were some of those stat lines
from JJ back in the day of like, you know, he'd go 10 for 17 for, you know, one touchdown,
no picks and like 170 yards and we'd win by 17 points, right? Like that's just the reality. And I definitely think, I guess let's just talk about like the playbook as a whole.
Um, I felt like it definitely was like, we're going to be throw first, not all the
time, you're still going to pound the rock, but it's not going to be like 75% run,
you know, 25%.
Yeah.
I definitely like you when you mentioned the JJ Satline,
which that's probably that probably happened a few times, 10 to 17.
I don't think we're going to see that.
Like, I think we are going to see more balance.
And I think that that hopefully is going to help with receiver recruiting.
It's like the chicken and the egg at this point for Michigan is kind of a tough spot
to be in unless you just pay an exorbitant amount of money.
So, yeah, but I do think Michigan is going to be a lot more balanced
in terms of throwing the football.
Uh, I think you can afford to be with Bryce too.
Um, I also think like, obviously you don't want to run him into the ground
and Bryce's legs are going to be a big part of the offense too.
Like you could tell he's, he's, he's, I don't know if he's, you know, four,
four kid, but like he's an athletic.
He is very fat according to that one picture. So. I'm not saying he's a big for for kid but like he's an
athletic. He is very fat
according to that one picture
so wow that was also a very
weird like have you ever seen
like an athlete like first of
all not to get into this but
like he was wearing a
compression shorts like others
like football pants. It's like
like have you ever been around
athletes like I don't know man
maybe he just ate lunch. I don't know. It's very weird. He's very not fat
No, he's jacked actually.
That was dude. I don't know what it is
Because look there are some Ohio State Michigan State fans on Twitter that are like cool people
But dude, like I don't know what happened because it even you know a few years ago
Yeah, it was like a testy like rivalry on Twitter or whatever. But now it's just kind of fucking weird
Yeah, like we're just in a really weird spot yeah i thought honestly most of that was pretty funny right and i think he even thought it was funny because he reposted some stuff
and like oh it was taking yeah some jabs uh it's funny knowing that he's not actually fat right and
so yeah um but i don't know man i think we jumped the shark. I'm like, but this, this is what we're spending our day doing.
You know, it's just like a little weird to me.
It always is. It's a weird place on social media. It's just, you know,
you just never, never know. Um, and, but I think that like,
here's the reality of the situation is like he's,
if he does anything wrong, every other fan base, especially those two with
Michigan state and Ohio state are going to just jump down his throat.
Right?
Like that's, it's going to be the reality because of how hyped up the recruitment is
and how, you know, this is where like, it's a love hate thing for me with Michigan fans
and myself included, right? It's like, maybe we don't go ahead and say he's going to be the next
like cam Newton, uh, you know, and whatever, which actually I thought
about this and go ahead and like, you can put the headline out there.
Like blue, white ID compares, uh, um, Bryce Underwood to cam Newton already,
but him laughing and smiling the whole time did remind me of how cam Newton I'm going to smile like smile as I'm throwing this 80 yard touchdown and like you can't do anything about it.
Yeah. Yeah. You I think he definitely is a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy.
I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy.
I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy.
I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good guy. I think he's a good smile as I'm throwing this 80 yard touchdown.
And like, you can't do anything about it.
Yeah. Yeah. You, I think he definitely is a kid who seems to just love life.
Which I would too. If I had that much money at 17 years old, to be honest.
Like, you know, I said, like, man, I'll tell you, I drove past Shem today and I was like, dude, some of the cars there.
I'm just like, holy shit.
It looks a lot different than it did.
If it looks like a Barrett Jackson auction house is what it looks like.
I'm like, yeah, what is going on here?
Uh, no, he's, he's, he just seems like a fun loving kid.
Um, I think he's probably somebody that the team will gravitate towards.
And, uh, you know, from the, we talked to Derek Moore, right?
Like, you know, he told us, Hey, this kid's in my weight group
and he is busting his ass and older to Derek Moore, right? Like, you know, he told us, hey, this kid's in my weight group and he is busting his ass.
And older guys noticed that, right?
And once you have the respect of the older guys,
and then, you know, as you get older,
you set the standard, right?
It's just that's like, we talked about with like Hutch
and the culture that Michigan has and what, you know,
what kind of got them over the hump, right?
So, you know, the guy like Bryce who,
yeah, he's the face of your program,
but he's also the artist worker,
like that goes a very long way. Yeah, also, I's the face of your program, but he's also the artist worker like that goes a very long.
Yeah.
Also, I think it also is like, yes, he's going to get a ton of attention
and every other guy on the team knows that, but it's not like a jealousy
situation where like, let's be honest.
A few years ago with the Kate and JJ situation, like that was a weird vibe
and definitely trickled into a lot of the rest of the locker room
So I think that it seems like you know, that's not the case currently now
I think sometimes when a season doesn't go exactly how you want it to go things can change in that way
But I don't think it's like to your point
It's not like he's coming in and he's like I'm the dude and I don't give a shit about anybody else I
think still like first of all he talks shit to his guys like in a you know playful manner and
and like
Derek Moore for example like he doesn't care like he doesn't even like the limelight at all
So like go ahead and you do the interviews. I don't care. So
anyways, I think that right now from what I, from what I observe, like a, you know,
he's got the talent B, uh, he's got the culture that the culture around Michigan football
is still great. You know, I'm excited about show more in year two with like a chance to
get his feet on it. Right.
We talked a lot about that last year where it was like he was thrown into it and talk
about speeding up the game and just speeding up a program like he had no room to be like,
all right, what do we do here? Um, so, uh, I'm excited for him, especially like with wink back, you know
I wonder about Chip Lindsey just like I don't know, you know I have no idea what that's gonna look like and so yeah, but I'm excited to see what all this entails
No, it's gonna be fun. It's gonna be a fun, you know few years, right?
Like this is you know gonna be something that I mean this this recruiting class is pretty damn good that's coming in
right and I know there's people that are like on the Michigan beat they're like
freaking out over the house settlement stuff that all work itself out I'm sure and Michigan will
have another top 10 class in 2026 and um they're a number of guys so it's like yeah this is
potentially a launching point for for Michigan football But the young guys that came in and early in release
that I saw, like think about this, Andrew Babalola was the
number one pick in this draft for this. Right. Right. That's
crazy. We didn't even talk about that. But that was like, I mean,
the Michigan football put that video out and it was like so
subtly out there. I was like, Whoa, wait, hold up. What? What
exactly just happened? Yeah
Yeah, um other one other thing to note
I just saw this come up on Twitter, but Sharan Moore on in the trenches the Michigan football podcast
Rod Moore is trending in a super positive direction
Awesome. So that's yeah my from what I know. I think this summer at some point. He'll be back early summer and
That at least gives him, you know a few months to like, okay, let's get back to game speed gets out and go
I mean you look at Michigan's defense
I got a ton of depth in the back end to like did a really good job recruiting getting getting guys in
You know what? Zeke Barry played extremely well at the end of the year at Canter.
So you have a lot of guys that have played a lot of football back there.
And so regardless of if Rod is healthy or not, obviously you want him healthy.
But like, I feel pretty good about the secondary either way.
I think you want Rod from a leadership standpoint too.
Yeah, just get guys in the right position, right?
Like he knows the playbook inside and out. Like he's huge on the back end for that. Like he has been his whole career.
Yeah. So, so yeah, so I'm excited for that. Yeah, I'm excited about a lot of it, man. I think there's a lot to be excited about. But hey, here we go. Now all we get it for four months is like clips of Bryce throwing from his Instagram and stuff. And
everyone's going to read a ton into that. And so we'll, we'll talk about it throughout the,
you know, throughout the summer here, but, um, yeah, we'll go with, oh, go out on a boat. Yeah.
Oh, I'm wearing shorts right now. It's great. I'm sick of wearing pants to be honest.
Oh, little shorts on little teaser too. I'm going to
put this on, uh, on social media here soon, but, uh, I taste tested went to the North
peak brewery, uh, yesterday, taste tested a new flavor, new everything of blue by 90
beer. And it's phenomenal. It is, it is going to be like a little too easy
to put down, you know, a lot of them on a game day this fall.
So, no, I love that.
I love that.
Very excited for that.
Just very excited for Saturday or Thursday, excuse me.
Thursday and Saturday.
Little Caesars Arena.
There you go.
Hey, man.
Hey.
Wait.
I was just gonna say, the foul baiting's getting out of control in the arena. There you go. Hey, I was just going to say, uh, I
don't know. The foul baiting is
getting out of control in the
end. Bro, Jalen Brunson, I, we
all hate him from Villanova back
in the day, but I hate him. And
like, and then I was like, oh,
this is how we're playing
basketball. It is, it is
nauseating. That is, it is
brutal. That's not basketball,
right? Like that was my big
thing with James Harden too, but
like that just, you know, nut up
and go try to get a bucket, dude.
Like come on.
Yeah.
Like it was so funny too, cause you'll see Nick fans like, Oh, Kate cutting him took
one more free throw than Bryson.
Yeah.
The difference is, is Kate is trying to put the ball in the bucket when he goes to the
rift.
He's at the rack.
Yeah.
And sorry, he's going to get fouled.
He's also bigger than Brunson and longer than Brunson. So like,
you know, it's easier for him to get fouled.
I just get followed when he's at the rim 90% of the time,
not 30 feet away from the basket because he's flopping.
I really need the pistons to win in six so that we can just tweet pistons in.
And then it's, yes, it's him. Like you celebrating somebody getting fouled out.
It's so corny.
And also what's corny, and I understand as a defender,
you shouldn't jump, but if you don't jump
into their landing area, you should not be penalized
because the shooter throws his body in you.
Correct.
The NBA like stopped calling that.
Like I think at the either the beginning of this season
or last season, and then like all the people
who did that were pissed and they just stopped.
Like they just started calling, like stop basketball.
I don't think it should be in college or NBA.
It's ridiculous.
There was one towards the end of the game
where he did, like yes, the guy,
he like jumped on the pump face.
He jumped like three feet.
But he jumped like this and stayed straight up.
I was like, no, that's not,
there are sometimes when a guy jumps completely sideways into the guy on the pump thing, then yes,
that can be a fall. But when the guy, even though he jumps on a pump thing, if he stays
straight up and only goes forward a little bit, like if the, if the offensive guy is
going more forward than the defensive guy, that's not a fault.
Yeah. I don't know. Like
the other ones, uh, when, uh, uh, sorry, Thompson got called for the foul because Jalen Brunson
just like hook and held him. Oh yeah. Like, Oh, his arm was an illegal guarding position.
I wonder why, because at the beginning of that play, he grabbed his arm and then the
other one was Josh Hart just falling down and they're like, yeah, I guess this is a foul.
I'm like, let's see these Villanova dudes.
Like it's absurd.
It's crazy.
But yeah, we've got Pistons as Jared Goff said Pistons and five.
We've got the NFL draft this weekend.
So excited to see where our boys go.
You know, it's, I would say the mock with Will Johnson falling to the Lions? At 28.
I would be stoked, but also like,
are we just doing this prospect fatigue thing with Will?
Where we're like, he's been a perfect prospect for his entire career.
Now we're like looking for flaws.
I don't know.
There's been weird stuff going on,
but he has like, since the mock draft started coming out,
he just continued, you know, he started like top five.
Now he's down to late.
They had Mason Graham 13th.
I like Peter Schrager, but he had Mason Graham 13th.
I'm like, wow.
Most people have Mason Graham at like five, right?
So. Yeah.
We saw that one, like two months ago.
I don't know who that was from, but like, I don't know.
I don't know how you can watch the film and be like,
yeah, 13, that's where I'm going to draft this guy.
I did see Colston at 10 though.
Um, and KG like mid teens.
So I, yeah, I'm excited to see where those guys go.
I mean, listen, if we'll Johnson drops to the lions, yeah, I'll be sad
for him in his payday, but like, dude, let's go, that would be electric.
Uh, one, one last thing on the NFL draft. I do not get how anyone watches Colson, Loveland let's go. That would be electric. One last thing on the NFL draft.
I do not get how anyone watches Colson Loveland
and Tyler Warren and is like,
yep, I'm gonna go with a 23 year old.
I just, I don't, I know he put up a lot of stats.
Michigan's, you know, Michigan's offense wasn't ideal.
Right.
I don't understand how anybody would want
Tyler Warren or Colson Loveland.
That's just me.
I haven't understood that the entire draft process.
It's going to be one of those things where, and you know, Jim Harbaugh is going to take
him or something and he's going to be unbelievable. I mean, any of those guys, I'll be honest,
KG, Mason, Colston, or will like, I truly believe they are going to ball out at the
next level in surprise, whatever team they end up on.
And so one last NFL drafting Justin, maybe you can explain this to me. I keep seeing that
Kloel Mullings has been going in for top 30 visits. Does that mean teams are wanting to draft him in
the first round? I don't understand what a top 30. I don't really know that part of the draft process. I don't know that either. I don't know.
I don't know if that means he's one of their top 30 prospects
or if that's like a top 30 pick.
But I'm assuming it's like a top 30 prospect.
It is one of the 30 official visits each team can make
to a potential draft prospects.
Well, yeah, I think so.
I think it's just, they get 30 of them.
Okay.
Cause I was like, what does that mean?
But that makes more sense that they're going to draft him in like third, fourth
or I think he can speak his way up there.
I mean, here's it.
He's another one though, like wherever he ends up, like all he's going to need is
a chance and he, you know, it's listen, it's hard to be really
good in the NFL.
There's no doubt about that.
But like, Column, Mullings has defied the odds at every level and became when not one
person thought that he was going to be our guy.
He became like unbelievable.
Yeah.
So give him the, give him the chance and let's see what happens.
Yeah.
I'm excited.
Those drafts. Awesome. P pistons go pistons and six.
There you go. I think.
All right. I like it.
