Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, welcome in to, we're going to call us an emergency pot for stadium in Maine. We've taken a few months off after football season. Jordan Stratt, Chris Wormley. Worm, we've got your big celebrity softball game coming up this weekend at 5third Field, downtown Toledo at 2 p.m. first pitch on Saturday. We are absolutely jacked about this thing. It's going to be a ton of fun. For you and I, we're both Toledo guys. So to be able to have something like this in Toledo is really, really cool.
Starting point is 00:00:28 you're obviously going to play in the game. I'll just be down on the field with a microphone chirping and talking and having fun. Where are we at right now? Give people an idea what's going on and where we're at in the process. Man, we're coming down to the last four days, I think. So we're coming down to the nitty-gritty. We got our lineup set. We got our players set.
Starting point is 00:00:52 We got some pretty big Michigan coming in to participate, some former Michigan players, some current Michigan football players. We're excited for it. We're excited to present this city. We're excited to get this going for not only our foundation, but the youth of Toledo and all those support helps. So buy your tickets. Let's start there.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Let's start with your foundation and who this is benefiting first. And then we'll get into some of the names and we'll go through the rosters a little bit and just talk. First, your foundation, you do so much good work in Toledo. And I actually was telling Eric Chase on the radio, and Toledo the other day. Like everything you do is so genuine and like you truly care about the city of Toledo. Walk me through just kind of and give everybody an idea like what your foundation does,
Starting point is 00:01:38 what all this money is going to help with. Yeah. So if you see on the shirt, Wormley Family Foundation is the name of our foundation. And Lex and I, my wife, we started about two years ago. And our whole goal is to give tools and resources to the youth of Toledo,
Starting point is 00:01:51 whether that's our holiday shopping sprees, our turkey drives, our youth camp we just had this past, I guess two Saturdays ago now at Whitmer High School, the literacy program, summer reading that we're doing with the library system. All of it is just to help youth to go and to give them a better life. It's awesome and it's very much needed. And so everybody that's coming out, there's a link to tickets over there in the corner.
Starting point is 00:02:17 You can scan the QR code. You can also go to WormleyFamilyFoundation.org. Is that right? Yeah. It's not org. Okay, I just want to make sure. and get your tickets there, all the information, the rosters are there and everything. Let's go through this a little bit because this is a Michigan football podcast, generally when you and I are together,
Starting point is 00:02:36 let's attack the Michigan football aspect of this thing first, and then we'll tell you about some of the other people. As you can see on your screen, Donovan People's Jones, Jake Moody, and then some current players, Zeke Berry, Zach Marshall, Jordan Marshall, Nathaniel Ousu-Botang. We're talking like four legitimate stars of the current Michigan football program, all coming down to be part of this. I think this is going to be absolutely awesome. Do you know if any of those guys, can they play at all? Like DPJ or Jake Moody, can any of them play or are they just down there for the vibes?
Starting point is 00:03:12 I think, I think Jake Moody can crush a ball. It's weird. Specialists are always good at like random things. They're usually really good at like ping pong in the locker room. They're usually really good at cornhole in the locker room. But then they can play golf where they can hit a slow pitch softball out of the park. But also on top of these Michigan football players that are going to be there, Janessa Conway from the women's softball team at Michigan is going to be there.
Starting point is 00:03:38 She's one of the best players in the country. She's unfortunately not on my team. So hopefully you made the loss. You couldn't fix this thing the way you wanted or what? If you go and look, my team is already stacked. Like we're going to win probably 20 to 5 is kind of my thought process. We got, you know, we got the MLB player, Colin coming in, Colin Ballstar coming into pitch and also swing the bat.
Starting point is 00:04:03 It's evenly matched, but I know Janessa is going to, she's probably going to go three for three with three home runs. So that's exciting to have a legit softball player out there. Normally softball players that are used to fast pitch softball struggle with slow pitch a little bit. I don't, I'm not saying that's going to be the case here. But I'm saying that generally it's really hard. No, I'm saying normally in these situations, it's very hard for them to get the timing.
Starting point is 00:04:28 I think she'll probably agree with me, maybe. I don't know. But that's just what I found. Me and her going to the batting cages on Thursday. Are you really? She's going to take me a thing or two. Yeah. So I'm going to bring my bat and take all the lessons I came
Starting point is 00:04:41 because I haven't swung a baseball bat. Are you recording this for, are you recording this for social media purposes? I, hopefully, I don't make a, my whole goal is to make a, But my whole goal is to make a fool out of myself on Thursday. So when Saturday rolls around, I've gotten all that out of my system and I'm hitting dinger today. Smart guy. All right, let's break down your team a little bit first. Storm Norton, who is still currently in the NFL, was your teammate in high school back at Whitmer,
Starting point is 00:05:07 was also a Toledo Rockets. Storm's going to be there. And growing up, you told me that Storm was a pretty good baseball player, right? And he's also a massive dude. Like, if people don't understand, like, Storm is a massive human being. I don't know what I don't even know his size and high. height right now, but he's a current offense, NFL offensive line. Like, he's a giant dude.
Starting point is 00:05:25 He was a pretty good baseball player as a kid. Yeah, great baseball player. We would play like rec league softball in college and he would hit it all the defense. So 350 or whatever it is and like those those rec league fields. So him with the defense is being 225, I think in the in center field for our time, I mean, if he doesn't have four home runs with four our bats, I'm going to be very disappointed at him. So I'm excited he's on my team.
Starting point is 00:05:49 he's going to be team MVP. He's also doing the home run derby at the end of the game. So we're excited for him to put on a show. God, I just love throwing all this pressure on storm. This is so good. Yeah, we got to make sure we just lay it on right now. And then he's going to hit like a six dribbler to shortstop in his first at bat. And you're just going to just crush him.
Starting point is 00:06:11 All right. Some of the other guys on your team, Robert Easter Jr., who is a former champ in boxing, a Toledo native. Trey Miguel, who's a current professional wrestler. If you've ever watched him on TNA, he's a big star there. He has been in some WWE stuff. He is an awesome dude, another Toledo native. Cool to get some of the combat guys in there.
Starting point is 00:06:34 That's going to be neat. Oh, yeah. Yeah, they're not used to playing team sports, but if they're holding a bat in their hand, so I'm excited to see what they can do. Hopefully the whole team's been practicing, and Team Spike has, has been taking the summer off.
Starting point is 00:06:49 I will say if there for some reason is a bench clearing brawl, your team is probably in good shape. I don't think there will be a bent. I'm trying to think, well, listen, Jared Anderson's on the other team. Jared Anderson is on the other side. Yeah. I'm running far, far away from Jared Anderson.
Starting point is 00:07:05 There's no way I'm sticking around for him. I'd say, yeah, you're right. I forgot. We haven't got that far yet. All right, let's look at some of the other names. So Danny Rogers, who people up in the Michigan area will know, has been a team reporter for the, Lions. She's awesome and she worked down here in Toledo and TV for a little while. Derek Lipp,
Starting point is 00:07:23 who is a very, very funny social media influencer. If you have seen some of Derek's stuff, he shoots basically everything with his ring camera on his doorsteps and in his house and his kid is hilarious. Derek is super funny. He's a Southeast Michigan guy just over the state line. So he's basically a Northwest Ohio guy. That's exciting. Tyler Crispin is one I'm very excited for. I'm a huge Big Brother fan. Yes, me too. And so I love Big Brother. Tyler Crispin went to Rossford High School here in Northwest Ohio.
Starting point is 00:07:55 He's a Northwest Ohio guy. So I have known who Tyler is since high school. And then he went on to Big Brother and became, he was so good at Big Brother. Like was a superstar player on Big Brother and has made some returns. Kevin, is it Speece? Is that how you say his last name, Speease, Grill Guy? Grill Guy. We'll call him Girl Guy.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Everybody, everybody knows him as Grill Guy. If you go on TikTok and search Grill Guy, he is comical on TikTok. I mean, just so funny. And he barely has to talk, and he's still hilarious. It's all on his expressions, which is what the hilarious. Yes, he's so good. I love him. We mentioned some of the Michigan guys.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Colin Ballester, who spent a ton of time in the big leagues, played for the mud hens at one point. Ballester will be on your team. It's currently a Muthan's broadcaster. Also lives here in Northwest Ohio now. And then maybe the star of the show. Joey Chestnut will be on your team as well. What kind of plans you got for Joey Chestnut? So I asked him if you wanted to do an eating competition.
Starting point is 00:09:07 And he said, I got bigger fish to fry in two weeks for the Nathan's hot dog eating competition, which I said, okay, you know, you're right. Yeah. You know, we're going for, I think, 18-time winner. So he's justing his stomach then. But he's going to be a judge for an eating competition that we're going to do during one of the, one of the ending breaks. And I'm excited to see what that is. I'm going to hopefully delegate that to somebody else.
Starting point is 00:09:32 So I'm not shoving whatever we're going to be eating down down on my mouth before I hit a run. But I'm excited for him to judge and to be a part of it. It's going to be a great time. He's, you know, and he's a guy, so, or not a too guy, but a big fan of Toledo and the mudhands and all that stuff. So I'm excited for him to be a part of it. He's been,
Starting point is 00:09:51 he's been awesome giving his time. And he keeps coming back to Toledo. And the response here is always really good when he comes. Do you know what is being, what is being eaten? I don't. I think my chicken tenders, uh, hopefully with a lot of barbecue and ranch,
Starting point is 00:10:08 but, um, I can't confirm until Saturday. Okay. Let's go, uh, look at, Yeah, that's fine. Let's look at the other team. So we got Team Spike as well.
Starting point is 00:10:17 There's Team Muddy, who is the Muthens mascot, Team Spike, who's the walleye mascot to bring the Toledo thing together. We mentioned Donovan People's Jones. Alex Nadelcovic, who's an NHL goaltender, played for the Red Wings for a little while. He's been in the NHL for a long time. Chaz Redikop, who is one of the Wollai assistant coaches. He played for the Wolli for a little bit of the previous year. Now is it a Wolli assistant coach.
Starting point is 00:10:42 He's awesome. And yeah, now that I'm thinking about it, if there was a bench clearing ball, Chaz could really get after it. The hockey fighting, he could really brawl. Like he was in. Alex was in a fight, I think a goal to goalie fight. Golly fight. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:58 The season, so he's got some penalty minutes under his belt. It'd be a time. Between those got two guys and then obviously Jared Anderson, it's, I think I'm going to sit that one out. Let's sit that one out. Yeah. Nicole Mitt, who you have seen inside the big house. is DJ right? Yep.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Bruce Greed Kouske, former Toledo quarterback. He's currently an assistant coach for the Detroit Lions. Bruce has made Toledo his home ever since he retired. James Hudson, a central Catholic high school star
Starting point is 00:11:29 from right here in Toledo played for the Browns. He's been in the NFL now for a few years. An offensive lineman, another big dude on that side. I don't know Steve Byrne. Who is Steve Byrne? Can you tell me? He's a medium.
Starting point is 00:11:43 He's got a pretty big following. He does. Okay, I don't, I'm not really familiar with him. Yeah, he's pretty funny. He's got a, he's a funny, but I think at Levis Commons this weekend and reached out for him and said, Hey, come come out Saturday afternoon before your show on Saturday night and he'll be there having fun too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Gold medal winner, Eric Kinnard from Toledo, an Olympian. He's going to be there, which is super exciting. We always love Eric coming home. He was a gold medal high jumper and just a terrific athlete. We mentioned Justin Conway, a couple of mission guys. And then Michael Dieter, current offensive linemen in the NFL as well. There are so many dudes from Toledo in the NFL right now. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Yeah, I mean, we even, I think we left out a couple guys just because they weren't available. Yeah, there's a couple guys. Yeah, for sure. Tyson isn't available. He's at a wedding, I think, this weekend. Try to get Nigel Hayes to come. back, you know, professional basketball guy from Whitmer and he's living his best life. I think they're just finishing up their season. But yeah, man, there's a lot of NFL guys in the
Starting point is 00:12:54 area, a lot of professional athletes. And at first, you know, when we started talking about this, you know, almost a year ago, and I was like, man, there's, how do we get all these people to come back to Toledo or, you know, if they're not for, like, to come in and participate. And we got two full rosters and I'm excited for these guys to see and these girls to see what Toledo was about. And it's going to be a good day for the community and for the fans that are coming out to watch it. Walk people through the kind of how this whole thing started and what the process has been like to reach out to people and try to get some people to come here. What does that whole process been like just to kind of bring this whole thing to fruition?
Starting point is 00:13:31 Because it's an undertaking. There's a lot that goes into something. It's not just, hey, show up and play softball. Like there's a lot that really goes into this. Yeah. I mean, it's not just me. Our foundation, I mean, you've been a huge help. You kind of got this started with a text, you know, back a year ago now.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Hey, let's do a charity softball game and putting the team together in terms of the mudhens and what they've been able to give us and being able to use their facility, a world-class, really, you know, minor league baseball stadium. And Justin and Jacqueline Row, who, you know, blew by 90 people, they have their own event, you know, business that have really took. take have taken the brunt of all of the planning and the undertaking. But then really me just kind of relying on my network and term people that have, you know, played with or played against or people in Toledo and trying to,
Starting point is 00:14:20 uh, to, to, to build this roster. It's been, um, it's fun. It's challenging at times. But now that it's finally here, you know, you know, three, four days away now, it's, it's, um, it's time to rock and roll. I'm excited for it. Yeah, I'm, I'm super pumped. Um, when people come down, what can they expect?
Starting point is 00:14:39 Um, there's also, uh, let's mention this too. There's going to be some really cool auction items up on the concourse, right, that people can bid on. Are we doing that? I don't know if we're doing the silent auction. How are we doing that? It's,
Starting point is 00:14:50 uh, it's through it. It's through an app, I believe. Uh, you kind of sign up for the app and you can bid out a lot of stuff. You can't, listen, you can't handle all this stuff, dude.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Like you, some of the stuff you have to have other people doing. That's what I meant. I would, no, I mean, listen, yeah. You know, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:06 Justin and Jacqueline are taking the, taking the, taking those reins as well. And there should be, some cool, you know, signed autographs from the participants, some old football gear for me and a bunch of other cool stuff that you can bid on. All the proceeds go to Chiquet, and then in turn, it goes right back to the kids of Toledo. So. Yeah, I think it's going to be so much fun. I'm super, super excited looking forward to it for sure. And I think it's going to be awesome for all these
Starting point is 00:15:32 people to get together and see all the cool people that are going to be there. And so for fans that are coming down, kind of give the last final pitch. Why should people get out and come hang out with us on Saturday at 5th 3rd Field in downtown Toledo? I mean, just off of the rosters, I mean, it's going to be an incredible group of people coming out for a great cause for the kids at Toledo, you know, five innings of baseball. There's going to be an amazing home derby afterwards. The eating competition with Joey Chestnut being the judge. Kids get to run the basis for free afterwards. There's going to be opportunities before and after the game to meet. meet all of these celebrities that are out, celebrities, athletes, all that good stuff.
Starting point is 00:16:10 You know, they're more than willing to, you know, shake hands and meet new people and all that fun stuff, sign autographs. So we're excited about that. And, you know, you can buy tickets right on our website. We're withfammy Foundation.org. You can walk up day of game and purchase tickets there and also get them on the Mudhens website. So buy the tickets. It all goes towards a great cause, which is our foundation.
Starting point is 00:16:32 And we're helping out the kids of Toledo. All right. I'm going to mention this too. We, you and I had, we had just discussed us with Justin a little bit before and, uh, some tax messages.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Do we want to give away a VIP package right here on the, on our emergency pod? Like, is that okay with you? Yeah. Let's do it. I mean, if you're going to,
Starting point is 00:16:52 you know, if you're going to say now, I can't say no. I have to say yes. I, I, I, I got,
Starting point is 00:16:57 you're forced in my hand. Yeah. Like, okay. So listen, we'll give away a VIP four pack, uh, for somebody that can win it.
Starting point is 00:17:04 and we'll send, we'll put a link in this post. or whatever. We'll let Justin handle that because he's smarter than us and he can do all that. He's going to hate me so much for this. But listen, we're going to give away a VIP four-pack. You can come down in the field, meet all the celebrities, hang out for a little bit pregame. I think it's going to be cool.
Starting point is 00:17:21 So let's give away a VIP four-pack, enter right in this post. And that'll be exciting. And you get to meet Chris Wormley. Like, how could it possibly get better than that, right? Yeah. Perfect, perfect way to have game started, get to meet some, meet Meet the celebrities, meet the guests, meet the participants, and get a little inside access to what's going on for the day. Who's got it better than us?
Starting point is 00:17:46 Nobody. Nobody. That's what Jim. That's right. All right. That's exactly what Jim Harbaugh would say. All right, we're looking forward to it. The Chris Wormley charity softball game, first one ever.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Saturday, June 20th, fifth third field, downtown Toledo. It's a short drive down from Man Arbor. If you're a Michigan fan, trust me, you want to be there. If you're an Ohio State fan, please come out. We would love to have you. I wanted to mention this for him. I don't know if you even realize this. Did you know that J.T. Barrett is actually in Northwest Ohio on the exact same day as this at another charity fundraiser just down the road?
Starting point is 00:18:22 I did not. No. What's he doing? On Saturday night, he is going to be at the Parker's Purpose benefit. I don't know who Parker ranks is. He's an incredible kid from Fremont. and there is a fundraiser just down the road 40 minutes. So he will be in North West Ohio at that Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:18:41 I think we should reach out to him, right? Like we've got to try to at least get him to come over. You know what? He'll probably come up just a little short. Listen, I've had my, I don't even know what you want to call it with J.T. Barrett. I'm a great player. He's doing some great things with the Chicago Bears on their staff.
Starting point is 00:19:00 And I'm glad he's in Toledo or at least Northwest Ohio for a great cause. That's exciting. I thought the Wormley Barrett tie was perfect. So all right. And if you want, cut this out of the whole pot. I don't really care. Doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:19:15 I mean, you're promoting another charity event, you know. Yeah, it's great. Saturday, June 20th, 2 p.m. 5thrd Field, downtown Toledo. Get there. Get your tickets. It's all to help an incredible cause.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Chris Wormley is doing amazing things here in Northwest Ohio. We want to help the kids. So click on this link or go to Wormley Family Foundation. org. Get your tickets. And we will see everybody at 5thrd Field in downtown Toledo. And then we're going to be back on the stadium and main podcast coming very soon.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Football season, fast approaching. Can't wait to get this thing going. Worm, we'll see you on Saturday. Yeah. Get your tickets.
