Yeah, just sit on the camera. Thanks for taking the time. Get out of you. My bet I'm a little late.
Nah, brother. You kidding me? Fucking, we had a rough start too. Ticket pulled the ticket pulled right into the driveway.
Right in. Ticket came right into the driveway. You got to take it um, Jules. That's
mission man. Neil. Well, it was what we talked about for a while, like whether or not we pull right into the driveway.
This driveway? Yeah, well we thought it would be your place. We didn't know if it'd be kind of
ballsy if we just like pulled right in or if we go street parking. If this is my place, we had a terrible
career.
The gentleman
whose place it is, we apologize.
Yeah, I kind of feel like
in here, I feel like we're going to go over the offensive
playbook. You got whiteboards, you got
the whole night. Yeah, we rest everything.
We raised it all when you guys came in.
Yeah. You see what you had to go
like hard-off. Propritory shit.
When coaches leave the room and you press the
button and something comes down.
When I was a player,
I would go in when I was a cut guy
Like when I was a line guy
I'm going to be cut
And I'd be fucking looking
Because they had the debt charts
And they had like little fucking coaching points
On these shit
Yeah
I feel like Belichick's gonna pop out out of nowhere
If
If there was fucking
I always told myself
If they had that thing Mike
Or like hidden film
I would have been gone years ago
Yeah one of my
Are we rocking and rolling
Yeah welcome back
Bob Desperch Julian
And I don't like it. We don't even need the intro.
And we just kind of get firing right on into it.
I mean, you came in like a bat out of hell.
You can't dip your toes, boys. You've got to dive right in. Let's go.
Do you want me to upgrade my water to the pH?
Yeah, that'd be better.
Yeah, that's...
Joey, you didn't have to get that.
I appreciate it.
For hospitality.
I appreciate it. It's very nice to you.
Maybe I should have parked in the driveway, too.
You didn't?
No, I didn't.
Thank God you didn't because then I did.
It's not my house.
This area is all residential parking.
If you park anywhere, you get tickets.
I got lucky I got his fuck.
You're good. Really?
How many tickets he's got to his name right now?
I have a BC license place.
So my car's from Canada.
I drove it up through California.
So these guys have been giving me parking ticket after parking ticket,
but I'm not registered in California.
I shouldn't probably be saying this,
but I'm not registered in California.
I've never paid a ticket in the last six years.
That's tough, cutsy.
That's un-Canadian-like, really.
I know.
It's the American side of me.
It's the American side of me, I think.
It's too capitalist, bro.
It's too capitalist for me.
It's like a New York Boston thing.
I don't know.
I get it.
Dude, out here, it's gnarly.
How long you've been out here for now?
I've been coming out to L.A.
I've got to talk in the mic, or is it catching me?
No, you're good.
You're catching me?
Yeah.
I came out to L.A.
probably like 12 years ago.
It was like my second, it was my first off season.
This is where I came to like, you guys heard the story where I would train with fucking Brady and be written.
Can you swear in?
You can you swear?
Yeah, of course.
Yeah.
there there we go my bad uh and so we would train out here and uh ever since then i've been
coming out here in the off season and my little girl lives out here so now i'm like in between
here in new york boston i'm everywhere but this is kind of home base because my little curls here
would tom be pissed if you were just like i'm not coming this this summer like it's just not for me
i'd rather stay home i never told him like he never asked me to come let's just say that in like the
early part of my career he didn't ask me to come he's asked me to come he's asked me to come he's
I'm like Welker and Grom.
You just showed up.
I just kind of showed up.
I was like, hey, bro, you needed someone to throw.
He's like, ah, all right, come.
You know, when you feel sorry for the kid.
And so, you know, I made myself available.
And that's honestly what got him to learn me and me to learn what he liked.
And that's how we got on a page.
And, you know, the rest is history.
How much better do you think, like, doing those?
Like, obviously it was so smart of you to do it.
How much better do you think you got just from practicing with him in the off season?
You get a lot, a lot of knowledge.
You gain a lot of human capital hanging around Tom Brady in the offseason
because it's not just the on-the-field stuff,
which he's the guy who's ultimately distributing the football.
I mean, we got offensive coordinators, you got coaches, you got all this.
But when you get on the field, there's only one guy throwing the ball.
So if you're around him, you got to be around him.
You got to want him to know that you, that, you got to want him to know that,
that you have been preparing everything to try to catch his ball.
So that and then also learning like how it is to be a professional athlete.
You know, when he was inviting me to the crib after, you know, we train to eat lunch.
How is he eating?
Oh, he's sleeping.
You know, his regimen, his routine, you know, getting his bodywork, learning and just seeing that and being a fly on the wall in that environment has helped me, you know, pump out 12 years in NFL.
Oh.
No.
At what point did you realize that, I mean, you were QB yourself, right?
So what point did you realize, yeah, I'm not a key?
I'm a wide receiver.
Like when did, like, did you think coming into the league you were going to play quarterback?
No.
No, dude, no, not at all.
I became a receiver for a reason.
I can, you know, I can throw like those guys.
But I'd tell you, like, the first time we went to minicamp.
You go to, like, rookie minicamp, which it was hard.
And it was my first time playing receiver.
But there's also some other guys
You're like, oh, you can not athletic that guy.
He's not, you know, other draft picks,
all the other guys, the free agents,
the first rounders, so you can size guys up,
you know, see how they are performing.
And then next phase, the veterans come in.
And I remember the first day, Randy Moss,
Wes Welker, Brady,
and they were doing like a seven-on-seven drill.
And I was on the sideline watching
because I was, you know, special teaming by then.
And I saw him put this throw to Randy Moss on the sideline.
And it just tear dropped.
And Randy Moss was running.
Gave the late hands.
Like didn't even, like just looked like butter.
It was so smooth.
I was like, yeah, that guy's a bad dude.
And it was just the first time I saw him throw.
It's crazy.
One of my favorite things that you do, watching you,
because I don't think anybody's ever done it before you did.
And you could tell you just spend so much time around them.
your Bill Belichick impression to me is one of the funniest fucking
because before you did that nobody nobody would really do a Belichick
you know what I mean where you kind of just like took it over and you could tell you
just spend so much time with him yeah I mean I sat right up in the front row
for for 12 years and and stared at that man talk for at least he would talk
we would have our first meeting would be a squad meeting that's usually
usually how it goes, then you break up into O&D, and you go from there.
And a lot of teams, you see these like, I mean, you just look at the hard knocks.
The head coach goes on there.
He gives a, you know, 10-minute speech, and then, you know, you break up into O&D.
Bill would give his keys to the day through a 45-plag cut-up every morning
and be able to talk in front of all the men for, like, 55 minutes.
That's what we would start our day with.
And just seeing his little mannerisms.
I mean, you're sitting, you're looking at it.
I mean, like when you're young, you know, he's over there.
And then when he's looking, your ears are back, your pitted.
And then he's like, you know, so like you have all these so much time hanging around this guy.
And I remember one thing I'd always get like, I was always concerned with he has this podium.
Like, so that if you look over in the corner of the room, that's where like the film and the clicker is and his screen.
And then it has you have the huge projector or the huge screen that the whole team watches in the auditorium.
Then he's got a podium when he's addressing the team, so he'll go break that down.
And, like, he does these hand hits.
I'm going to love this so much.
He hits his hand, like, when he's making a point, we need to block.
And he hits it so hard.
Dude, I'm like, this guy's got some tough hands.
I play in the National Football League, but he hit that because it was routine.
That's how every year it was the same.
I heard him say the same things for a long, long time.
But he's probably hit it so many times.
He's built callous on that part of his hand.
And I'm like, I was impressed.
Yeah.
It looks like a baseball bit.
Lily leather hands.
But he does what like what's amazing to me is he does such a good job of.
And like I think there's a certain art to it.
Like not letting the media get anything from him.
Does he turn the switch on like when he comes on for a press conference?
Does he turn the switch off to where he's more closed off?
Or is that kind of how he is if you went out to dinner.
with him. Like, does not give you much.
No. I mean, when you're
talking ball, he's got his
antennas up and his radar
on at all times. Right.
Because that, you know, he's
been in the National Football League since
1975. That's 50 years.
I think, 45 years. I mean, he started
Baltimore Colts back in 1975.
He's seen
people be burned. You know,
he's heard of, you know, guys
leaking things and been around.
I mean, he's seen a lot of shit.
old school man so you know
when you see a lot of shit you don't trust
nobody right and that's why
you go to you see bellichick
at the podium when he's addressing the media
he doesn't want to give anything away
he doesn't you know i'll tell you what though
bob and i we saw him in in jupiter
florida and it's the most relaxed
i've ever seen bill
he was on his boat with his wife
and the boat was called six
rings and he's just sitting there
man in the ship like we like
bill he's got like waved us off
And then our buddy Jersey Jerry is like a huge Steelers fan.
I think he said screw the Patriots or something.
But he looked so chill.
He looked so real.
I'm always used to seeing him like just game shape, game mode.
He gave too like it was the most classic like boat wave.
Like he was like stone face.
Yeah, it was very not a cool way.
And he just gave like the classic like boat wave as we were going by.
It's always fun to see his smile.
Because like after I mean, he win Super Bowls with them.
You know, you toss back a couple of.
beers with Bill.
That's got to be fun.
I remember one of the Super Bowl parties
are the first one that we won in 14.
I mean, took a shot with Bill.
I was like, holy shit, he's smiling.
What's going on here?
But he's got like an awkward smile.
He's like, it's like a guy that doesn't really smile that much.
You know what I mean?
But it's, it's funny.
He's a one of a kind.
And yeah, he's just a football guy.
He loves football.
He loves competing.
And all the extracurricular, which makes the game.
the game with the fans and the media.
Like, he's an old school guy where he just worried, he's the ball coach.
He just wants to worry about football.
Football.
How can we make better?
How can we make better?
Is this potentially going to make us worse?
If I say we're going to, you know, you listen to a head coach press conference.
Sometimes, you know, before the game, they're giving away their game plan.
We got to run the ball.
Right.
We got to run the ball.
All right.
So we're definitely going to be expecting them to run the ball.
So let's load the ball.
You know what I mean?
Like things like that.
People are giving.
and you, you know, and then Bill takes up on that stuff.
And that's just how he is.
He's a football coach.
Doesn't he love Halloween too?
Isn't that his big?
He loves Halloween.
Were you there when he, uh, Randy Ballroom?
No, he wore the pirate.
He was a pirate.
Yeah, he's not all football.
He's got, you know, that's Halloween.
Yeah, no, I, I, I wasn't at that.
I was, I was still young.
I was too young for, I was on the team, but anytime there was, like,
coaches or things around, like, big time play.
There's like, there's like,
ecosystem. There's like a,
there's like a class system
in the locker room. Yeah. Yeah.
You know, I mean, you got your stars,
you got your studs, you got
your role players, and you get, like, special
team guy. And I, when I was a special team
or, you know,
you'd go like
two months without saying anything to Vince
Wilfork.
You gotta, like, earn your stripes.
I wouldn't even look at them. You know, like, I'm my part of that.
You know, you got to earn. There's a standard,
and that's just how it is.
Do you miss like the back and forth, like the whole scene at all now that you're kind of out of it?
Do you miss at all like being in the locker room like the banter with the guys and like just like chopping it up on the day to days?
Like is there something about like about that that you kind of wish you were still in it?
Or are you kind of happy that you're out of the scene now?
No, that's that's the that's like the most fun part about playing football is hanging out with guys that you go and fight at practice and then go in the locker room.
talk shit, you know, and then go get treatment together, talk about, you know, you're around
these guys so long, so for so many hours, for so long, you know them better than their family
knows them a little bit sometimes, you know, and vice versa. They know about me because we're
around each other all the time. And you love that, man. That's why you play the game. Football's a team
sport. I feel like too, like even just if you watch like Bray, like from, you know, our perspective,
Brady and like Belichick with you, like you could tell that you were so close to.
them in the sense of like it's like they gave you the most shit I feel like because they know
that they could like Brady would get into you a lot or even Belichick because it's like it's almost
like they know that they could go there with you yeah I mean that's that's leaders that's how
good leaders are they they handle certain people differently you got to be able to adjust and I was a
guy that needed to be yelled at I thrived off getting yelled at I got yelled at my whole life
but my parents my dad you know I had a tough dad and and they knew that and
They knew how to motivate me.
They pulled certain strings to get me to play my best, both of them.
As great as, you know, I'm sure being in the game and stuff is, me and Joe, we were at
Toronis, and we saw you at the bar and we're looking at you.
And you got a cocktail in your hand, you're enjoying your dinner.
Yeah, and I'm like, you know, everybody's talking about it only coming back.
He looks very content right now.
What is Toronis?
Tironi's right on, right on Beverly.
Oh, it's on third.
When was this?
This was gotta be this past year.
It was 100% you too.
And you were with a rocket too.
I was like, this guy's doing the L.A. style, right?
Yeah, that's all I do.
Like, Edelman ain't coming back.
Well, I think Bob and I noticed the rock at first.
She walked through and then she went to the bathroom.
Then I looked over.
Is that Julian Edelman?
Yeah, it made a lot of sense.
It did.
It really had it out.
And then that's how I was like, Joe, I don't think he's coming back anytime soon.
Like, he looks very comfortable.
I mean, you got to have some fun too.
You got that right.
Right. I'm allowed to have a little fun.
Absolutely, especially after all the hard work you put through.
But I tell you what, man, you've made a lot of people in New England happy.
Bob and I, we're big fans.
Like, I'm a Packers fan.
He's a Jets fan.
It's got to be so tough for someone like Bob, who's a Jets fan, who's just rooted his whole life.
And probably, oh, I'm sorry, Bob, but probably won't see a Super Bowl anytime soon.
Did it become like just almost like old to you guys after like Super Bowl, after Super Bowl, after Super Bowl, like, at some point,
it had to be like, I mean, obviously it was amazing, but like, I feel like the fans are so spoiled
with how well you guys, like, that's a dynasty that'll probably never repeat.
No, it didn't get old.
It never got old.
And I would say that's because of the leadership that we had, you know, a head coach and
at quarterback.
You know, if you see Tom Brady working in February in March after he just won Super Bowl MVP,
and you're not, like, you're not even on, you're not a toenail clipping on the pinky toe of your foot,
like Tom Brady, you know what I mean?
Like, you need to.
And the way Bill was, that's why he was always tough on the teams.
We needed that, you know, we were, oh, we were the AFC championship like six straight years.
I don't know, something nuts.
We won the division 11 straight years, like winning, winning.
And you need to have some of that tough love.
And our coaching staff, all the coaches, they, they remind.
reminded us, you know, we had a job to do. And, and whether we won or we lost, you know,
you were going to see the things that we needed to work on. And a lot of the times, it sounds like
it's shitty to hear, you know, when the coach is bitching about you getting your depth on
an in-cut versus zone. But, you know, if you don't, spacing in-depth is what makes the damn
zone plays go. You need to have that stuff. And you throw a pick, you know, so like the little
things matter. And when you're in that, an organization like them, like the Patriots, you know,
You know, everything's about the fundamentals.
Everything's about this.
And there's no complacency that really kicks in.
And that's what it was.
Julian, I got our guy, Fat Perez, here.
And he couldn't make it here today.
So we wanted to FaceTime in.
So he's going to have a question for you here.
Fat Perez, you got Julian Edelman.
To the mic.
What's going on, man?
What's up, bro?
I'm talking about winning.
I'm happy for you and everything.
But I'm a lifelong grown-up Bill Stan.
So why?
You guys?
You know what?
You guys have won.
You guys have went to Forestry
Super Bowl.
You didn't have the Super Bowls,
but in the 90s,
you guys were a powerhouse.
You're about to be a,
you're a powerhouse right now.
I don't feel sorry for Bill's Mafia.
I like Bill's Mafia when you guys were losing.
Now that you guys are winning,
you guys are getting a little too,
too tough for your britches over here,
big for your britches.
Well,
we've been saving up these bridges for a long time.
You'll be good.
You'll be good.
You've got a big old set of bridges on them.
I'll tell you, the only person more,
I love the Bill's Mafia, they're not going to lie.
The only person more comfortable than Edelman at Toroni is Perez on the golf box.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, no worries.
Pres we've...
Going in the other side of the week, you knew you had to play.
Well, I was never going to be covered.
You know, in certain parts of my career.
Early parts, yes.
Certain part, you know, when you start to learn the position, it's different.
But I would say a guy that was always really tough was Revis.
Yeah.
Revis Island.
There's a jet for us.
Yeah.
You know, and I got so much better at the receiver position when Dorel came and played with us and we won that Super Bowl in 14 because I got to go against him every day.
What made him so much better than everybody else?
He's got like a hybrid body.
So there's like two types of corners.
You got your big, tall corners that are made to cover guys vertical.
down the field that are made for go routes, nine routes.
And then you have your smaller guys that are quick guys, get at the line of scrimmage.
He had like a really long pair of arms and he had like a strong like short base.
So he was always on balance and he was really great and had a strong punch at the line of
scrimmage.
And his kicker was and what made him the best is he would call out your route because he studied
so much.
He would know by formation down in distance certain situations.
like you guys were running this concept
and then he would be able to break it
and he was never off balance
that's one of the things
he had I mean ball skills
great ball skills
when the ball was like in the air
it's called out of phase
where they're like playing your hands and stuff
he always knew all the tricks and trades
of how to hold and not get away with it
like he was a stud
Perez
he was good
we'll let you get back to it
Big dog. Hit him straight, okay?
All right, bro.
Thanks for stopping.
Big year for you guys, bills, let's go.
All right, brother.
Join, in all seriousness, okay?
Are the Jets ever going to be good?
That's a tough one.
That's a no, I think.
That's a PR no.
That's a PR no.
That's tough.
That is, you know, it's tough.
They have a long way to go, that's for sure.
But, you know, Jets fans have to be excited for the simple fact of what the Cincinnati Bengals did to last year.
Yeah.
You know, and you're only a player away.
And it's unfortunate with that, but it's also great with that.
So you never know with these jets, you know, but it's tough.
I don't think they're going to be very good this year either.
Do you feel like you see these spreads well?
Because, like, you do a lot of gambling now?
Nah, it's tough.
it well or they pretty much have like the odds makers pretty much have it odds makers are insanely good
yeah and the thing is you can't like you don't have like i'm a football player so like you know each
week the whole any given sunday thing is like predicated on how that team practice how really
healthy are they and like you're not really getting any of that info yeah so it's it's a coin toss
what if you know the star receiver you know his girlfriend's out cheating on on
He didn't practice the next.
That's not always going to be in there.
Right.
You're not always going to know that.
And he didn't practice well or something like that.
So it's tough.
It's very tough, especially with how they give these points.
They're throwing so many points out there.
There's like 10 points spread.
And you're sitting there like, there's no way this team could.
There's no way the bills cover 10.
It's a national football league.
And they win by 21.
And then they win by 30.
Yeah.
Like they're calling these things crazy.
We're like, I don't like the spreads.
I think that like a team, I was always a guy that I thought we
could have lost every weekend.
That's how I'd make myself build that story in my head.
Even though we were playing some chumps, like, you know, play the jazz.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's not wrong.
They beat our ass when they had San Chito in the championship.
Yeah, for the short time.
Yeah, they went to the AFC championship twice with him.
So you don't bet spreads, but do you, will you bet money line or what do you bet just over
under or what do you like to jabling?
I like money lines.
I like certain prop bets.
I like, like individual prop bets with, like, carry.
and or, you know, like, I guess all my friends would always say, man, I made so much money off
you. You'd have over under six, six catches. Yeah. Like, so like, I started to learn about that,
like, once I've retired, and I've been looking at all those. And you can kind of see how it
goes through certain weeks. That, I think I have a better shot at knowing that because of
opportunity that's earned from certain, you know, like if a coach, if I know a coach, then I'm going to
sit here like, well, I remember when I got fucking three catch.
and I had two explosion plays next week,
I was probably going to get three more targets.
You know what I mean?
You can even bet on targets now, too.
You can bet on projected targets for receiver.
It's crazy.
But you never know.
No, but that's what's so crazy.
It's like even hearing that from you,
because you would know best just how on point they are
to where even you can,
who've seen the football that you have,
like just how hard it is.
It's one of the hardest sports to bat.
The game script, too, also, if you're betting props bets,
like how many people would have known, like,
prior to just right up until the point of the game for the Bears game last week,
that it was going to be like a monsoon.
So, like, all of a sudden, the whole game flips the script.
A real better nose.
A real better.
A real better.
You know, he's got that app.
Oh, shit.
He was looking at the weather in Chicago.
Because football coaches are big weather guys.
You know, they wake up in the morning.
They throw on the weather.
They always have a weather app.
There's always a fucking weather app.
Did you hate playing in, like, the cold or the wet rain and stuff like that?
Like is that is that something that you just hated or were you didn't care too much?
I hated the rain because you're a receiver.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
So like it's slick.
And if it was like cold rain, if you were talking like a 30 like a 37, 38, but it was still raining.
So it's still cold and you can still see your breath.
But the ball is slick.
I'd rather have it snow.
Like I don't mind snow.
So it was always fine.
The cold was always cool.
The wind sometimes would suck.
It gets windy and Foxborough.
It's pretty crazy.
So the wind's gnarly sometimes when you're like catching punts.
I remember there's a few times where you're doing, you know,
you're saying prayers before the end punters punted because there's a 25 mile an hour
wind and, you know, the game's on the line and you got to catch that bad boy.
There's another worse than a muff punt.
And when you're watching it and you have like, you're like,
say it's like a last drive going down to win the game and then the receiver muffs the punt
and you're like that just costs the game.
Yeah.
That is the worst playing.
I'm muffed a punt against the bear.
in a snow game and ran it back.
Oh, you ran it back?
I muffed it, I got it, I picked it up,
and I ran and got it got called back.
It got called back, Dane Fletcher.
Thanks, Dane.
Yeah, shout out.
Dane Fletcher.
Love Dane.
I want to go back.
You can never get mad at a guy
for holding on like a punt return or something
because if they're holding,
that means you're working their ass for me.
You're working their ass off free,
you know what I mean?
Not even that.
It's just like they're buying into the system
and everyone's holding.
I wanted to go back to your,
your super bowl specifically the one against the falcons obviously now in that case so two things one
the first one is i know you i saw the NFL films you were miced up you knew the catch you made
you knew you said i caught it i caught like you knew did you have any like when they're reviewing
that play before you look at the repel are you like did i like did i catch that like does that go
through your head and then also in in the scheme of that game at what point and again like your mindset
and the page's mindset i'm sure you guys were like we're coming back we're coming back at what
point did you realize we got a shot here?
First question,
definitely 100% knew I caught it.
You knew.
And then even with that punt that everyone thinks I muffed in Kansas City
when we threw an interception on the next play anyways,
like that I actually tipped and dropped and they fucking got it.
That's neither here or there.
Yeah, yeah.
I knew for a fact I didn't touch that thing either.
Like, you know.
You know.
I mean, some guys don't because you'll have a slag.
Oh, caught there's a coached child.
And it's not caught.
That motherfuckers are going to be a motherfucker.
But the NBA, they do that all the time.
The NBA, like, now that they have, like, the review.
Oh, he's a lot.
Every time it's wrong.
Well, what about the Patrick Mahomes, the penalty thing?
Oh, yeah, defect.
Yeah, defense.
Everybody's pointing out of the way.
He does.
It cracks me up.
Like, there's always, like, a scrum of guys, and all of a sudden you see Pat, he's like,
yeah.
He does do that.
He does.
What are those piles, like, under there?
Is it vicious?
Oh, wait, I want to hear about the when you guys knew the comeback.
You started feeling, you know, that team was so mentally tough.
Like, at halftime, we all talked about you ain't going to win in one play.
You got to just do the little things because we were moving the ball.
We just turned it over twice in the red area, you know, and we were giving them, we were giving them points.
And they were capitalizing.
They're an explosive team.
Atlanta Falcons were a really good football team.
But then after that, like, you know, after we scored, I think James White scored,
and then you're starting to do the math, and then they scored, and you're like, oh, no.
And then all of a sudden there was the Trey Flowers sack.
Yeah.
And then that hit, and you're like, oh, shit, all right, here we go.
All right, let me get my head right.
I'm, you know, let me, all right, what's the next play call for us?
We're going to go.
And then, because you're not, you're watching, but you're watching, but you're,
you're not in the Super Bowl you're watching.
Like usually you want to be kind of going over, you know,
what you're going to do for the next drive,
which you'll do that for five minutes.
But then after that, like in the Super Bowl,
you're just,
you're glued.
And then Dante Hightower had that sack after like,
Julio had a catch or something.
Yeah, Julio had that catch and we're sitting here like,
oh, no, that's not good.
They're in field goal range.
We got to get them out of field goal range.
And once they had the holding penalty and then Hightower
sacked them,
And was it that?
Or was it Tray Flowers?
Trey Flowers.
High Tower had the sack on the drive before.
Yes.
Fumble.
Somebody took him out of field go range.
Yeah.
But this last one, after that, then you're, after the High Tower Sack fumble,
geez, what are we doing here?
I was like, all right, that's good.
And then the Trey Flowers sack did not come out of field, field goal range.
Like, that's when you knew like, all right, we can do this.
Now that shit's aligning.
There's like, I don't know what's going on here, but we just do our job.
We're going to be all right.
And then when you got the coin toss, you're like, it's over.
It's over.
Because we were, I mean, if you look at that play on offense for the New England Patriots,
I think we ran like 107 plays.
And I remember that week of practice, and we'd always, and it started there.
That was like my first real Super Bowl experience.
I played in 11, but I really wasn't playing.
But, you know, during the prep week, you have two weeks.
So it's usually great.
You get to be healthy.
and a lot of teams will kind of like choke it down.
That first week of practice,
we had like a full on blue and white scrimmage.
We're conditioned in our faces off.
And after 23 weeks of football,
your body's beat down, bro.
Like just running is kind of like,
that's a lot of load.
It's 23 weeks.
Like practices are many games.
That's what people don't realize
with the stress that you put on all your joints,
your ankles and just competing against another guy.
You raise your levels.
So we're conditioning,
like crazy before a Super Bowl.
And once we won that toss,
we were in such better shape than the other team
that like we knew we were going to be all right.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
It's the best game ever, I think.
I mean, it was unreal.
Yeah, I mean, you guys had to be at the end of that.
Everybody was shell-shocked.
I mean, that's one of the craziest things.
One of the craziest comes back, I think we'll ever see.
Probably, yeah.
You know?
It was the whole time you were thinking,
And you're like, do they think they can come back?
They look like they think they can come back.
Are you almost happy that, like, you look at how vicious just the game is
and the injuries guys take these Thursday night football games we've talked about that, like,
you're just watching these guys drop like flies.
Is it almost a relief looking back now that, like, you had a great career, you won Super Bowls,
you got in, you made your money, you're in, you're out, you're healthy.
Is it almost like a relief that you're out of there now?
Nah
I
Yeah I got some screws missing up there
I like
I loved football man
And yeah
When you're like when you're healthy and when you were young
Like you were fearless
Fearless
And it didn't like
You used to
I would I watched my younger film
I'm like I'm so fucking dumb
Like what am I doing going head first in this thing
Trying to
Know when the joint
journey's over, bro. And I would get sprained ankles and shit because I got a guy on my thing and he's
twisted me and other guys coming to cleaning up the pile. And then you learn and stuff.
But like, nah, man, that's when when you're healthy and when you're like feeling good,
I don't, that, that, that, you miss that feeling. That feeling lining up against another guy
and just, you know, knowing he knows he can't cover you and knowing the situation and knowing how
big this is you know like now that you you're out of it you you were such a well-oiled machine when
you're in it like you were like it was programmed all right now this is this all right now and now like
you're like man i miss that so when are you coming back yeah i was going to say i don't think
you know that you just announced you're coming back here first yeah yeah pretty pretty much was
the announcement he's back but there will be an announcement on the next games with names next
Tuesday.
Okay.
All right.
I like that a lot.
Get that plug in now.
Get that plug in.
No.
Yeah.
There is,
will not be an announcement,
but there could be.
Do you,
Joe touched on like,
the Packers could use you.
You could play with Aaron Rogers.
I almost.
We'd love a little slot receiver.
I mean,
if there's anything you could do
to help the Green Bay Packers,
I tell you what,
you're going to be fine.
I know,
they're going to be fine,
but we need.
They're only a little rusty
because Aaron didn't play
in the preseason.
I understand that.
Aaron's over here like we don't need it.
You don't think having a savvy vet.
But those receivers need it with him.
They need to feel his ball.
Savvy vet like you on the Packers would go.
That would be awesome.
I tell you what.
And Aaron is,
I feel like Aaron is kind of like a guy like Tom.
Like he's just so regimented that like I feel like with a lot of these young guys,
it's just got to be one or two guys who just shows him something.
And then he will make that guy the next superstar.
I saw it when Devante when he was young when he was a rookie.
And he just started building that rapport.
And it's like after that time, same with you and Tom.
It's like, you get that down.
And it's like after that, it's just like clockwork.
They're running on a different wavelength than everybody else.
So he knows when there's a back shoulder pass coming.
He knows.
And it's just like, it looks seamless.
Yeah.
And that goes with trust.
You know, so with quarterbacks like Tom and Aaron, those guys,
is they won't like if you go and make a play for them,
they're going to come back to you.
Yeah.
You make another play,
they're building truck.
That's how you're building it.
You got to go out and do it.
And that's why I got mad that they didn't play in the preseason at all
with this young core.
Yeah.
You know, it's different.
Who's the, love?
It's different taking a 20-yard in-cut with a, you know,
a cover,
a Mike linebacker dropping who's about to knock your head off in Tampa
from love than it is from Aaron Rogers.
You know, and those, and that's experience that you gain, the experience of after a drive in, in the preseason, and you didn't get the certain depth of your route.
And Aaron goes and tells you that if you hear that from Aaron Rogers in a game environment, regardless if it's an exhibition or not, he's going to remember that.
And he's going to get his 14 yards instead of going 12, you know, and that's the stuff.
And that's why I'm not necessarily worried with the Packers
because Aaron Rogers, I mean, he's probably one of the most,
he's probably, like, when he slings that thing, it's gnarly.
It's just like effortless.
He could throw a 40-yard pass with the flick of the wrist.
It's unbelievable.
And he knows how to win.
He knows how to play in that division.
It's going to take some time, but he'll get it, you know, he'll get it right.
Because he's making a plea right now.
He's like begging me.
He's like, for him.
Aaron Roder, if we go do some like ayahuasca or something.
Yeah, then how we think about it.
You know what's so funny, though, it's like, I feel like with the NFL more than anything,
it's such like an overreaction league to like Packers lose their first game
and people are like, oh, the Packers done.
Up in last year, too.
Yeah, next, you know, they rattle off five straight.
They won something like ridiculous.
I think it was 10 in a row.
But they lost the first game to the Saints at home by like 30 points.
It's not a division game, though.
Yeah.
The division.
You don't like losing those early.
early.
I'm telling you,
you don't want to lose a division.
A game.
That's two.
That's two game loss.
Not everybody has the Jets in their division.
I mean,
the Jets have literally been building their team
to beat the Patriots.
The last 20 years.
So, like, they have 13 first rounders on their defense.
Yeah.
I mean, like, come on.
Let's go, Jets.
Yeah, hey, I mean, I'm pulling for them,
but I just, I don't see any light
at the end of the tunnel with them.
You know, they...
Yeah.
I'm open, man.
I really am.
I like Salas, too.
There are a few teams that could use you a quarterback.
Just got a one touchdown pass.
Still got it?
I got two.
I got two.
I remember the playoff one.
Yeah.
Playoff one?
Yeah.
We had one against Philly, like 19.
In this play, like...
It was like supposed to...
You know how...
I had a couple of completions where they would throw me a screen,
then I would throw it over to, like, James White.
to like a wall screen over the other side.
Up 21.
Whenever we were throwing those out,
we were always behind.
You know what I mean?
So we had that play on,
and there would always be a guy.
There'd be like Philip Dorset,
he would go across to, like, attract the safety over there.
And I'm sitting there, and it's like the low red.
We're like on the 17-yard line or something.
And the night before, I see him.
and I like throw them in a walkthrough like I throw the ball to him
and I don't throw it to the screen and McDaniels comes up to me
don't what the fuck you don't never look at that guy don't look at that guy
don't look at that guy so we come in the game
and fucking they throw me the screen and the guy doesn't
the guy rips through the blocker and I look and I see
Philip Dorset and there's no way if I go back and try to throw this way
I'm definitely getting hit while I'm throwing,
which I did get hit while I was throwing,
and I'm throwing a lateral,
and that's a terrible play.
So I gander over,
and I look at Phil, and I fucking zing it to his ass.
He catches it for a touchdown and gets his head knocked in.
I think he may have got a concussion.
And that's probably why you shouldn't have thrown it
because that guy's over there.
But he got a touchdown.
He got a touchdown.
There's a point.
And I come off the field.
You're fucking dangerous, Maverick.
You're dangerous.
Well, I'll tell you what.
You know, we like, with our show, it's a lot of golf stuff, but we were all talking.
It's like, so many people, like, expect us to have golfers on.
When we found out that we could get you, it was just like, get them on.
Like, we don't give a shit golf or not.
You got the games with names show out now.
It's going to be fun.
We're going to get some golfers on there.
We're going to get some golfers on there.
Yeah.
We're going to.
It'll be fun to watch kind of what you do.
I mean, you're such an interesting guy.
and bro i appreciate you guys coming all you coming on and uh you know it'll be exciting to see what
you do man yeah well we're doing games with names presented by win bet of course guys there he is and uh
you know everyone's talk about the goat what about the gog greatest of all games what's the
greatest game of all time and it doesn't have to be in football doesn't have it's been baseball
doesn't have been basketball doesn't have to be golf guys it's any game so it's been super fun to
actually do that and jump jump into your guys' world and and talk crap with samoreau who's a funny
ass comic out of new york so there's like some contrast there some conflict and uh it's been it's
been fun to get the guests that we've had we've had Peyton Eli um api vick um we got Paul we just had
our Paul Pierce episode launch and you know it's been fun to talk and hear their perspective
on the games that we all love.
You know, and it's been fun.
It's just like, it's kind of like this.
We just shoot the shit with the guy.
Yeah.
And, you know, base it off of that game and talk about the pop culture in that world.
What's going on?
This.
I would love to honestly get Tiger on that Masters.
That would be insane.
Yeah, we work on that.
Tiger, if you're listening.
I'm coming for you, baby.
Let's go.
Tiger listens.
Yeah.
Come on, Tiger.
need you again and we'll put the link in the bio there for you guys to click on as well and
julian really really appreciate it man thanks again we'll be pulling for you definitely
i'm pulling for the jets a little yeah please i'll tell you why i'll tell you why anytime
like i'm in new york a bunch i work we do inside the nfl i've seen that on paramount plus of
course um over in hell's kitchen and i'm in new i've been new york and just being around
people and all the industry people you know the workers the cops like they always
They're always pretty respectful.
I'm a Jets fan, but I respect you.
And I'm like, I fucking love the New York people.
They've been awesome.
So, you know, it's better for the league when the New York teams are good.
100%.
You know, it's better for sports.
So I'm hoping that the Jets can pull something off and pull some magic and get something going over there.
I just, you know, flacco.
Yeah, it's tough.
It's tough to say.
It really is.
But it's good to know that you're pulling for us to where if we're losing that,
it's like, at least Julian's pulling for us.
People don't realize I'm a football fan.
Like, I know I play for the Pats.
I love the Pats, and that's my squad.
But, like, I grew up loving the Niners.
I love the Niners.
I fucking love watching the Bills play
and love watching the antics of their fans.
You know, when I went to Chicago and played at Soldier Field,
like the history and tradition,
went to Green Bay, played there.
Like, those are, like, I love football.
And so you always want to see what's best for the game.
Do you get dialed in, like, now from the other side?
Do you get, like, dialed into, like, red zone
and, like, the hype up to it?
So overwhelming, dude.
So hard.
Especially this last weekend with like there was, like, how many games were there?
Like eight games on one o'clock?
Yeah, like every game and then you're like, I'm on this one, and I'm on this one.
And I can't make a thought.
And then we have red zone over here.
Yeah.
It's like, I'm sitting here.
We need to come up with a way more efficient way to do this, which I also, you know,
I get the coach cut up a little bit too.
So I can knock through the games on that.
But then it messes me up because, you know, you watch one play.
And yeah, you can see it as quick as you want.
But then I'm looking at, all right, what's the guard doing here?
What's this?
So you watch it 11 times because you want to see what every player does on each play.
So then it takes you know an hour and 20 to do a game.
Yeah, also too, you're looking at it from such a different angle as us.
Like, from what, imagine, like, what we're thinking compared to like what you're watching.
You know what I mean?
I feel like we see the game pretty good.
Like we'll be like, that's a hold for sure.
No one else will see it.
We're waiting for the flag to come down.
But like, he's seeing the guard pull and the tackle.
Like, he's seeing different individual.
We don't have the actual things.
Like, it's crazy.
Like, a lot of people will be like,
well, why didn't that guard go and get this guy?
You're like,
when the guy's on a double team,
the center didn't push him out with them,
and he didn't,
running back got too impatient with it
because, like,
there's like so many different little skills
just in each and every play
that I've heard for fucking so long.
And it's gnarly, man.
It's gnarly.
Football's nuts.
Yeah, well.
So is golf.
Yeah.
Do you golf at all, Julie?
Ah.
All the sports?
Can I'm here on there.
That's where you guys going.
Where are you guys going?
I have you on Bob does sports.
It's our channel, our YouTube channel.
Yeah.
I think you'd be a fucking blast out there.
Yeah, I think you'd have fun.
I mean, I golf.
I'm not like terrible.
I'm terrible, but like, you don't have to be good.
You just got to get out.
Like, you seem like you get after it out there.
Yeah, you got the personality for it.
Yeah, I could.
We'll have to figure it out because, but I don't like doing golf in front of like a,
I have to practice for a while because I'm not going to go out there looking stinky.
Like some of these people do when they put their golf shot.
on. I'm like, I'm not, I'm not doing that.
You're a football guy.
Football.
Film don't lie, man.
So you better have that shit right when you're going on film.
Julian, you're the man.
We really appreciate you, brother.
Games with Names, folks.
Check it out.
And Julian, much, much appreciate it.
How you like my water?
Very good.
Much better than what I would have had, too.
It's crazy, isn't it?
100% cleaner, smoother, better bottle.
It's not even that.
It's the width of the cat, like the bottle top.
It flows so good.
Yeah, a lot of times the bottle will do it for me too.
Like, I don't even think Voss water's that great of a water, but it's such a good bottle.
This is great on the golf course because it keeps your pH levels, you know, correct.
You didn't know this.
Is it right on the bottom?
Oh, wow.
Wow.
Wow.
