All right, Brian, we have a ton of big break in news today.
Let's start with one piece of it that, frankly, I never thought we get to talk about,
which is that House Republicans have voted to hold Attorney General Pam Bondi accountable
for her cover up of the Epstein files.
Five Republicans voted with the Democrats to subpoena her to testify before Congress.
The list is representatives Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Lauren Bobert of Colorado, Michael Cloud
of Texas, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, and Nancy Mace of South Carolina.
Man, not the list I would think would be voting with Democrats.
No, but you know what?
This is a huge step forward.
I just spoke with Robert Garcia, the ranking member of the Oversight Committee on my channel
just a little bit earlier today.
And this is a major step forward forward, like you said, some accountability.
Pam Bondi is going to confer with James Comer and figure out a day and a time to come so we
don't have that information yet.
But there, these committee members will be able to ask questions about why we haven't
gotten three million of these Epstein files, why Galane Maxwell was moved to a low-security
prison, why there were certain redactions, why.
why victims' names were exposed, why co-conspirators.
Why Trump's name was removed in certain cases.
And so there's a lot of answers.
And I think usually these things devolve into a little bit of a partisan circus.
But the fact that there were so many Republicans who agreed to move forward with the subpoena
suggests that we're not going to see the usual D versus our food fight where Democrats go
at these administration officials and Republicans protect them.
Like this group of people seems to have at least some shallow desire to get some answer
on this stuff. Yeah, I think some of them genuinely really care. I mean, to your point about
bipartisanship, but here's Congressman Roe-Kana talking about this kind of rare moment of unity
at the hearing today. Let's watch. I just want to recognize Representative Mace's courage first in
standing up for the disclosure of the Epstein files. And she's saying, let's have Pam Bondi tell us
why half the files are still hidden. It's about transparency. It has nothing to do with being a Democrat
or a Republican. It's about going after predators and people who are sexually harassing. And that's what
the American people expect and I appreciate Representative Mace is commitment to that transparency.
Nancy Mace is pretty conservative, someone who, you know, attacks a lot of Democrats. But, you know,
I guess the question is like, is this the beginning of the end for Pam Bondi?
I don't know that it's the beginning of the end for Pam Bondi. I mean, look, on one hand,
the more people go at these Trump administration officials, the more Trump digs in his heels
because he views any capitulation as weakness. And so especially on this issue, when he knows
he is at the end of the rainbow.
Right.
I mean, you have to think about it.
Like, okay, game this out.
He fires Pam Bondi because there's so much pressure.
Is he going to bring in somebody that's going to release the Epstein files?
And then there would be a confirmation hearing process.
It would create a lot of problems for her.
But I want a dream.
I mean, can I dare to dream that she gets fired?
You can.
Thank you.
Send her back to Florida.
But like the reality is, like she is there expressly because she's doing the thing that is upsetting
these Republican officials.
And so even if she was gone, the litmus test for anybody who took her place,
would be to do the exact same thing that we're seeing done right now.
Yeah, she's like Trump's Human Shield on this issue.
Unfortunately for her, but I'm glad that she'll be called up there.
But it wasn't all bipartisan cooperation and good vibes in the House of Representatives today, Brian.
Things got more than a little awkward for Secretary of Homeland Security, Christy Noem,
during an oversight hearing.
Here's a little taste of the cringe.
Let's watch.
So Secretary Noam, at any time during your tenure as Director of Department of Homeland Security,
have you had sexual relations with Corey Lewandowski?
Mr. Chairman, I am shocked that we're going down and peddling tabloid garbage in this committee today.
And, ma'am, one thing that I would tell you is that he is a special government employee who works for the White House.
There are thousands of them in the federal government.
So, reclaiming my time, Secretary, and has no authority to be making any decisions.
It is okay for you to be offended by the question.
But it is also a real question.
And you should be able to answer the question.
What we do at the Department of Homeland Street.
And without any hesitation, every single day, every single day is to protect the country.
If someone is asking if you or any federal official is sleeping with their subordinate, that should be the easiest.
You should be wanting to answer that question.
Because it is not about your sense.
It is about your judgment.
A lot of words not to say no.
Yeah.
Sounds like Cori Lewandowski is a very special.
government employee, but I did not hear and know there. So that exchange went on a while longer.
You know the only thing in her. I mean, she was basically one step away from just,
it's like, it's like five minutes. So she's like 300, 299, 298, 27. I mean, just saying words
so that time passes so she can get the fuck out of there. That is her only priority. But then
Congressman Moskowitz followed up. Oh, so good. And both are asking about news reports that say that
that Chrissy Nome has been sleeping with her, like, de facto top aid, a guy named Corey Lewandowski,
who's a total, total creep.
When you say top eight, no.
And Noam there, you can see her being like, these are tabloid reports.
I believe she's referencing a story in the Wall Street Journal.
That rag, that rag owned by Ragh financial outlet.
Owned by Rupert Murdoch.
Moskowitz also pointed out that Nome lied about whether Lewandowski has been signing off on contracts
and spending at the department.
She lied to Congress of the Senate about that.
yesterday. He also brought her, do you see he brought her a Coast Guard blanket? Yes. So
good. Apparently, Lewandowski fired like a Coast Guard pilot because the pilot left Nome's
special Blanky on the plane. Yeah. That's a thing that happened with adults. I mean, it was,
that was such a good moment. I think, do we have a clip that we can show? The present gave all sorts of
stuff out during the State of the Union. I don't want you to leave. I got you a new Coast Guard
Blanky, the one you lost. Okay. So this is for you. You don't leave empty handed when you come to
You see how man she is at the end of that clip where she's like, thank you very much.
I appreciate it.
Thank you for the blankie.
Thank you for the blankie.
How funny it would be.
I'll like Corey know.
She's actually at the end of the hearing, grabbed the blankie.
He was like, it was a gift, Todd.
This also comes a day after Senator Tom Tillis, another Republican, unloaded on Christy Noem at a hearing on the Senate side.
Guess it's not Cory Lewandowski is the only one doing that.
Oh, boy.
Including for writing about killing her own dog when the dog was 14 months old.
I train dogs, all right? And you are a farmer. You should know better. You should know that if you're going out to a hunting lodge and you're putting pheasants out and you're putting dogs out, you don't take a puppy out there. A 14-month-old dog is basically a teenager in dog years. You decided to kill that dog because you had not invested the appropriate time and training. And then you have the audacity to go into a book and say it's a leadership lesson about tough choices. Tillis's point is that it was relevant because she made all these bad decisions.
that she wrote about them in the book,
and now she's been making bad decisions in Minnesota.
Hard to argue with that.
It was a journey to get there.
You know, the interesting part is I think it would be a lot,
it would be easy for a lot of Republicans to write this off
because Tom Tillis is retiring,
and it's always these Republicans who are retiring,
who find a modicum of a spine, yeah, some courage.
But at the same time, there was also John Kennedy from Louisiana,
not a retiring Republican who also went in on her incompetence.
And so Christy Noem has kind of found a way to bridge the gap
bridge of the divide between these two parties because she is so incompetent.
And frankly, it's, it's, it makes their lives more difficult because these are Republicans
too. And they're all running in a midterm cycle where they are weighed down by a president's
dismal approval rating by, you know, these ice raids across the country, by the fact that
prices are rising across the country. And we're and we're seeing, you know, the, the,
the government wide cover up of the Epstein files. And we're seeing Republicans lose these races by 12, 14,
16 points swings from what we saw in 2024.
these people are politicians. They have to run for office too. And it's people like Christy
Gnome who feel unaccountable to the general population who are making their lives and their
careers more difficult. They are thinking about the midterms. And speaking on the midterms,
we have some big election news out of Texas. So James Tala Rico has won the Democratic primary
for the Senate seat in Texas. He got 52.4% of the vote, which is a pretty substantial margin.
And a little surprising, given that the polling was kind of all over the place in this race.
Like I thought they might go to a runoff.
It's super weird because polling.
is usually ban on. If we've learned anything over the last 10 years, is that we should trust all the
polling. Yep. And no Lewandowski joke there. And on the Republican side, incumbent Senator John
Cornyn is going to go to a runoff against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is so corrupt.
He's just a terrible piece of shit. That race, though, won't happen until May 26th. And it comes
after Cornyn burned through $70 million already in that primary. Ouch. So hopefully Brian will have
some more Republican infighting to look forward to,
but there's some news on that front that we'll get to in a second
that might spoil our fun.
But here's an excerpt from Tala Rika's speech,
his victory speech on Tuesday night.
This is a people-powered movement to take on this broken, corrupt political system.
This is truly a campaign of, by, and for the people.
We are not just trying to win an election.
We are trying to fund.
fundamentally change our politics.
And it's working.
The number of young people who showed up to vote in this election is unprecedented.
The number of Texans who have never voted before but showed up in this election is unprecedented.
The number of independents and Republicans who voted in this Democratic primary is unprecedented.
This is proof that there is something happening in Texas.
Tala Rico suave.
I like that.
It's a joke that just came to me as topical and timely.
Is that why we're doing this?
The whole video is just so that you can make that joke.
Swear to God, just kidding me.
This came out of nowhere.
We weren't scheduled to do this today.
Winners like that sometimes just arrived.
So a lot of Democrats, Ryan, think that this scenario is our best chance of winning this seat in Texas
because Tala Rico is seen by many is the strongest Democrat in a general election.
And obviously just won the primary.
seem to confirm that. And now, Corny and Paxton go from, you know, bloody primary campaign
to bloody runoff. That said, it is widely expected that President Trump is going to weigh in and
endorse John Cornyn and call on Paxton to drop out, which that'd be a bummer.
I mean, it would be a bummer. But it's also, think about what that says that the MAGA president
is expected to endorse the non-Maga candidate against the MAGA candidate. It's basically an
acknowledgement, a concession that his MAGA movement is weak. And, and, and,
that they're losers and that he has to basically just abandon the person who adheres the
closest to him so that they can get this rhino john coran in office because he's not strong enough
he's too much of a pussy to actually and to actually back the person who backs his own policies
though uh the counterpoint to that is paxton is a criminal yeah but so is trump that's the whole
movement what is maga if that's a good point lining up behind a bunch of corrupt fucking criminals
Too-shay, my friend.
Apparently there's my favorite, like Ken Paxson is a criminal story.
Apparently there's a video of him stealing like a $1,000 pen and then he had to return it.
Isn't that like a prerequisite to run for Senate as a Republican?
It is crazy.
I want to note something else that's important in the Democratic primary.
And that is in four of the districts where Republicans had redrawn them so that they can kind of guarantee themselves victories.
In four of those five districts, District 9, 28, 34, and 35, Democratic.
turnout was higher than Republican turnout. So they went through this whole process that eventually
sparked reciprocation by Democrats in California, meaning we have at least five guaranteed seats in
California, all so that they can draw themselves four, five seats in Texas, four of which
just had higher turnout among Democrats than Republicans. So you have this whole gerrymander
that was intended to engineer themselves as a majority in the House, and we may very well see
if these results hold in those four congressional districts, we may see one of these seats flip in
Texas to Republicans, four get held by Democrats, and then five seats flip to the Democrats
anyway in California.
Yeah.
And a lot of what could be driving this is Latino voters returning home to the Democratic Party.
So in five different rural majority Latino counties, more votes were cast in Tuesday's Democratic
primary than were cast for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
That is great.
And in counties that are majority Latino, Tala Rica won by about 22 points compared to a roughly
three point margin for over Crockett and the rest of the state.
That's from Politico, by the way.
So some good, good, you know, kind of underneath the hood numbers there.

Some other just quick notable races, Brian.
So 11-turned congressman, Al Green, is going to a runoff.
Folks probably know of him for raising his cane and shouting at Trump during multiple states of union.
Julie Johnson and Colin Allerud are going into a Democratic runoff.
Dan Crenshaw lost his primary.
It's interesting to me that that guy of all people like, you know, Navy SEAL, like,
where's an eye patch because of a injury from he sustained in war.
I think Harvard educated had just gotten a foul of the MAGRA movement to the point where he lost a primary in Texas.
Yeah. I mean, but those things, like that is old school Republican Party. That's like Bush era Republican Party qualifications.
Dan Grangell out. Yeah, for sure. To go to war. In fact, I mean, you know, any association with war is probably, or at least before the Iran war. Before Saturday. Before Saturday was probably a detriment to any of these people. Although now the whole coalition is scrambled because yet again, we have Bush-Busher era redux with with Trump's new, you know, military incursion in the Middle East.
Yeah, we'll talk about that one in a second. Last race that I jumped out of me in Texas is Tony Gonzalez, who's the just absolute creep who was having an affair with his staffer who later took her own life. He's now in a runoff. And then in North Carolina, Brian, neither party's Senate primary was contested, but about 200,000 more people cast ballots in the Democratic primary than the Republican primary. So it does seem like this enthusiasm gap is bearing out in the favor of the Democrats across the nation. All right. So finally, you mentioned.
Iran. I need to highlight something that like truly outraged me today. So this morning I was watching
Secretary of Defense Pistol Pete Hegsef do a press conference about the war in Iran and he said
something that made my jaw drop on the floor. As you'll see, he literally attacks the media
for reporting on the fact that American soldiers were killed in action by an Iranian drone.
Here's the clip of what Pete said. And then there's Caitlin Collins from CNN is asking Caroline Levitt
about the Hexseth's disgraceful comments at the White House briefing later that day.
This is what the fake news misses.
We've taken control of Iran's airspace and waterways without boots on the ground.
We control their fate.
But when a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it's front page news.
I get it.
The press only wants to make the president look bad, but try for once to report the reality.
His secretary was complaining that it was front page news about these six service members who were killed.
That's not what the secretary said.
said, Caitlin, and that's not what the secretary meant.
And you know it.
You know you are being disingenuous.
There is not, we've never had a secretary of defense.
Who cares more?
You get through where tragic things happen.
It's front page news.
I get it.
The press only wants to make the president look bad.
As you know, we cover the debts of U.S. service members under every president.
The press does only want to make the president look bad.
That's a, that's a fact.
Especially you.
No, listen to me.
Especially you and especially CNN.
These selfish, narcissistic, whiny, fucking egomaniacist.
It's like one of the most gross things I've ever heard a government official say, and he's the secretary of defense.
Right.
And it's a scripted comment.
He read that.
Yeah.
And his little cat in the hat fucking cadence.
You know, the crazy thing is the Benghazi attack where four Americans lost their lives.
That was investigated by Republicans.
They dined off that for two years.
There were six investigations in total.
They put together an 800-page report.
Hillary Clinton testified for God knows how many hours.
They spent $7 million on the whole investigation.
And here they are on, you know, when we have more American service members who died at the hands of an administration that swore whose mandate was no new wars.
And they're mad at the media for reporting on the death of Americans.
It is truly outrageous.
By the way, you could see in that clip, there was like a 1-800 number up on the screen from the State Department.
That is what you're supposed to call if you're an American trapped in the Gulf right now and you're trying to escape a country where the Iranians are at.
actively shooting ballistic missiles and drones at you. So for all the talk in Benghazi about embassy,
security and taking care of Americans overseas, their message to people who are stranded now is
like, best of luck. Here's a website. Yeah. I hate these people. I hate Pete Hex-eth. He's just a disgrace.
Speaking of the website you should check out, go to YouTube.com and go to Brian Tyler Cohen's page
and subscribe. Subscribe to Pod Save America and Pod Save the World here on the Crooked Media
site. You know why? Because we're trying to build progressive independent media companies
that listen to bullshit like that and try to hold them accountable and not just regurgitate right-wing
neocon talking points like you're seeing on the news and the coverage of this war.
So it's making me crazy.
Hell yeah.
