Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, Brian. Donald Trump has had the worst month of his political career since, what, January 6th, I think. It is almost entirely because of his almost comically disastrous handling of the Epstein files, he just cannot make the story go away to the point where he's hitting the Barack Obama did treason button to see if that can distract the reporters. Which brings us to this sage advice from one of the smartest political strategists in the business. The Epstein thing is tricky. Let's deal with the easy part first, okay? the left should shut the F up about it because they weren't into it when they had the ability to do something. They're only trafficking in it because it's bad for Trump. And that's not the basis that we need to get to a better place.
Starting point is 00:00:43 First of all, Chris, mixing some leg day, man. You're looking at swole up top. But, Brian, is that what Democrats should do now? No. Shut up about mounting evidence of the President of the United States is covering up horrific crimes. Yeah, no, no, absolutely not for two reasons. One, it's, look, I'll admit that I was not especially moved by the Epstein stuff in the lead-up to the election. It was not something that broke through.
Starting point is 00:01:06 It was not a moving factor in terms of what I focused on. But watching Donald Trump bend over backwards to make sure that we are not, that we were talking about anything other than Epstein, so that we are pushing the distraction button where he suddenly says that Obama should be arrested. And while we're at it, throw in Kamala Harris and Beyonce and Al Sharpton. And that the Washington Commission. commander should change their name to the Redskins and that cane sugars and Coca-Cola, this guy is doing everything he can to avoid showing us. What we now know is him in the Epstein files.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Why on God's Green Earth would we not focus on that one thing? That's the moral argument for it. The political argument for it is that the Epstein stuff is breaking through in a way that is impossible to fake. I mean, Shane Gillis talked about it at the Espe's. This is how you break through in the cultural zeitgeist. not easy to do. And you can't do it, unfortunately, with Medicaid or food stamps or the usual political topics. Those usually get constrained to just politics and political commentators. But when you've got the whole world talking about the Epstein thing, when you've got foreign reporters
Starting point is 00:02:12 asking about the Epstein thing, when you've got comedians talking about the Epstein thing, this is not something you can fake. It's certainly not something that you can buy. And so lean in on exactly what the whole world is talking about because this is manna from heaven doesn't come around often. Yeah, I mean, what he's saying there, it's like the left wasn't excited about the Epstein thing when they had something to do about. Yeah, that's because Republicans at the time were claiming that there was some broad cover up the Epstein files by Democrats. Yeah. And the files would reveal that like, I guess Bill Clinton did something really bad. Now it seems quite clear that Donald Trump is covering up whatever's in the Fstein files because
Starting point is 00:02:46 he is implicated. Right. And maybe a bunch of his friends were implicated. And it's gotten to the point where Speaker Mike Johnson was so freaked out about a bipartisan effort to force the release of the Epstein files for about a vote on it that he sent the house into recess early. Lawmakers went home early because they didn't want to talk about this. Not only that. This is somebody who has dragged his feet on everything as it relates to Epstein for months and months and months, except when he sent Todd Blanche, his deputy attorney general, sprinting down to the prison in Florida to talk to Galane Maxwell so that he can get to her before Congress would get to her for the deposition on August 11th. So,
Starting point is 00:03:20 So if there was some agreement between Galane Maxwell and Trump's DOJ, if there was some promise pardoned, that's already happened. And so they got to her before Congress was able to get to her. But it's interesting where Trump decides to drag his feet, where Mike Johnson decides to drag his feet in an effort to help Donald Trump, but where they spare no time and leave no stone unturned and sprint on down to get things done when it's in their interest. Yeah. Trump has given so many confusing, conflicting answers about.
Starting point is 00:03:50 all the Epstein questions he's taken, that it's honestly, it's hard to keep track day-to-day. But here is a sampling of just a few of the rambling disastrous answers he's given. A lot of this is from his trip to the UK. The first part of this clip is Trump responding to a report in the Wall Street Journal that he had given Jeffrey Epstein a special birthday poem that included a special drawing, a doodle of a naked woman and all other sorts of creepy shit. Let's watch. I don't do drawings. I'm not a drawing person. I don't do drawings.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Sometimes he would say, would you draw a building, and I'll draw four lines and a little roof? I don't do drawings of women, that I can tell you. Now, with that being said, they say there were many letters done by many people, and many big people, you know, big, successful people, because he did something that was inappropriate. He hired help, and I said, don't ever do that again. He stole people that work for me. I said, don't ever do that again.
Starting point is 00:04:47 He did it again. And by the way, I never went to the island. And Bill Clinton went there supposedly 28 times. I never had the privilege of going to his island. And I did turn it down, but a lot of people in Palm Beach were invited to his island. In one of my very good moments, I turned it down. I didn't want to go to his island. The privilege of going to his island?
Starting point is 00:05:10 Tommy, don't ever say that this is not a moral man, because even Donald Trump has a red line when it comes to famed notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. and that is that he knows when to cut ties because Epstein poached his employees. Yeah, let's talk about this poaching thing because buried in that rambling mess of an answer was a huge timeline problem for Trump's story.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Yeah. Okay, because Trump says he had a falling out with Jeffrey Epstein because Epstein was poaching employees from Marlago. That specifically, he says, included a woman named Virginia Joufrey. She was working at Marlago when she was recruited by Epstein's co-conspirator
Starting point is 00:05:44 Goline Maxwell and then abused by Epstein, Maxwell and others from 1999, to 2002, right? So Trump is saying, I got mad at Jeffrey Epstein between 99 and 2002. But that means after that falling out, he said the following to New York Magazine. I've known Jeff for 15 years, terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It has even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it. Then in 2005, Trump invited Jeffrey Epstein to his wedding with Melania. Yeah. None of this makes sense, right? No, I mean, it puts on full display the fact that if he was willing to not just not just say out loud but go on record
Starting point is 00:06:23 with New York magazine and and admit like this what what was effectively a really poorly kept secret that Jeffrey Epstein quite often and proudly associated with young girls if he was willing to admit that after Virginia had already been trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein then then when he took her presumably Donald Trump would be well aware and yet what was done to prevent that and by the way, what was, why would Donald Trump put a, a teenage minor in the spa and expose her to somebody like Jeffrey Epstein if, again, he knew full well what this guy's habits were. And yet he did, you know? Yeah. And look, in Virginia Jufreye died by suicide in April. She spent the last few years of her fighting to get anyone to believe her that this has happened to her. And then Trump is
Starting point is 00:07:12 just admitting it out loud in this story and thinking that somehow exonerates him when really it raises Because real questions, like you said, about, okay, if you knew this creepy man was hitting on underage minor women in your spa, why didn't you call the cops? Right, right. Or why allow him in? Why allow a famed pedophile into your place of employment anyway to be exposed to anybody, but much less a teenage girl? Yeah. It's also wild that, and I don't think we played that as part of the montage we just showed, but there was a point where he was explaining this stuff and still found time to, offer a commercial for his spa.
Starting point is 00:07:48 He actually has an aside where he says, where he talks about the spa and he says, this is one of the best spas in the world. And so even amid the reality, what we now know is that Donald Trump exposed this young girl to Jeffrey Epstein, who then took her, abused her and trafficked her. He still, like, I don't know what, I don't know what it is in his brain, but he felt that it was appropriate to use that opportunity to promote his property. And like, look, I'm no business genius like Donald J. Trump, but I would presume that if I owned a company or a spa, that the last thing I would want to say the name
Starting point is 00:08:22 of that spying is a sentence that ends with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. I know. Yeah, it's a disgrace. I mean, he views every opportunity to talk to the press as some sort of marketing. Right. He's a disgraceful human being. So my producer showed me this video that will make you think differently about your gut health. Most apples have been grown for sugar content. Look at some of the labels. Sugar be apple. Now, that ought to tell me. you what's in there. How about a honey crisp apple? That ought to tell you what's in there. Starting point is 00:09:40 description below. Brian, though Trump was quite busy bungal the Epstein cover-up. He did have time to slap the shit out of Republican Senator Josh Holly. Oh, yeah. Josh Holly's crime is pushing a bill that would ban members of Congress from trading stocks and having the nerve to suggest that this bare minimum ethics reform should also maybe apply to the president and vice president in the United States.
Starting point is 00:10:04 Can't have that. Let's watch a clip of Josh Holly groveling to Mr. Trump on Fox News. So when you spoke to the president, did he explain why he? called you second tier. Not loving your AT&T or T Mobile Bill. Yeah, we've been hearing that a lot. Good news. Bring your AT&T or T Mobile Bill to Verizon and we'll give you a better deal. So get away from that unfortunate phone bill and get to Verizon.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Run, ride, canoe. Whatever it takes, we'll be here. Bring your AT&T or T Mobile Bill to a Verizon store today and we'll give you a better deal on the best network. A better deal. No surprises. That's Verizon. Best Network based on Route Metrics, Best Overall Mobile Network Performing, U.S. Second Half 2025, all rights reserved.
Starting point is 00:10:42 It must provide a recent consumer mobile bill in the name of the person. and making me the deal, additional terms, conditions, and restrictions apply. Well, I think that the president, a number of people who are opposed to banning stock trading had said to the president that he would be covered by the bill. He'd have to sell Maralago and sell assets. Not the case at all. The president and the vice president, all their assets are totally exempted. And here's the point.
Starting point is 00:11:03 This is what we talked about. The point of this bill is to ban members of Congress from trading on the information that only they have. I've supported this bill for years, Jesse. I think we call it the Pelosi. Act. It is named for her because she is the poster child of this kind of behavior. It ought to be illegal and it ought to be prosecutable. Just to clarify, Trump called Holly a second tier senator in the truth social post. Here's what's so crazy. Presumably, the whole basis for this is because being able to trade these stocks leads to corruption, right? By using the transit of property,
Starting point is 00:11:37 allowing people to continue engaging in these stock trades is basically a tacit admission that you are allowing corruption. And so he's saying that, Donald Trump gets to do the thing that he thinks is important enough to ban for certain people because he doesn't think that those people should be able to act corruptly. He's just saying that Trump should be able to engage in corruption. Yeah, the argument is basically members of Congress have access to insider information that they use to trade stocks. Right. And so if we ban their ability to trade individual stocks, we'll prevent that from
Starting point is 00:12:07 happening. Is he trying to suggest that the president and the vice president of the vice president of United States? Don't have insider information? Do you know what Trump could do if he just wanted to trade off, like, say, the tariff announcements. Yeah. You know, tariffs with China are on. Markets crash. They're off. Markets, you know, rip. You say that like it's a hypothetical. It happens all the time. I know. He's literally doing it. He's made people rich beyond belief, including himself by doing literally the thing that you're saying that he, that he could do. And I just, it's amazing. It's like Josh Holly has to go on Fox News to grovel and apologize for trying to put in place a basic ethics reform bill. And the Fox people are like, I said,
Starting point is 00:12:43 like, how dare you? Jesse Waters, like, how dare you go after Mr. Trump? While we all know in the background, like Trump makes a trip to the UAE, guess who shows up a week or two later, Don and Eric, trying to peddle some crypto deal or some real estate boondoggle or giveaway, right? Like, there's so much corruption happening in plain sight, and we're just, I guess, the position of the Republican Party in Fox News is Trump can do it and nobody else can. Well, I mean, look, at least he's doing crypto dinners and insider trading, but at least it's not selling paintings. That's true. So we couldn't have that.
Starting point is 00:13:15 That would be corrupt. That would be corrupt. I just want to point out, media matters pointed out, Brian, that since Monday, Fox News spent 85 minutes covering the controversy over an American Eagle commercial featuring Sidney Sweetie. They devoted 20 segments to it. In the same time period, Fox spent just three minutes discussing the Trump administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. The issue on which most of the cabinet is there, the issue on which they predicated so
Starting point is 00:13:42 much of their identities and reputations. I mean, this was all Dan Bonino talked about. This is all Cash Patel talked about. We heard from Alina Haba, Megan Kelly, Tucker Carlson, Pam Bondi, and now they don't want to talk about it at all. And I think this is a good example because this is a, you know, a manufactured scandal. I think there were a few TikToks were really what caused this. Yeah. Random internet comment. But like this is where they, this is where they live. This is where they're comfortable finding, I mean, if it means that they can pluck out one tweet from obscurity 11 likes and make that the focus of all of their coverage because they are so comfortable focusing on culture wars, then that's exactly what they're going to do. That's their bread and butter. Yeah, that's exactly right. And the reason these guys can do this nonsense is because they have this vast right wing media echo chamber.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Correct. Correct. And what you're trying to do on YouTube and what we're trying to do here at Crooked Media is build a left wing counterweight to that. We're trying to build progressive news networks that can get people good factual information from a progressive perspective. Because when people, search for political news on YouTube, they are finding Fox News crap or worse. TPSA. Benny Johnson, who I saw you were on TV with the other day, had the fastest growing YouTube page in the last three months of this year. Like, he had two million subs in the past three months. So please subscribe to Pod Save America, subscribe to Brian's channel, because we got to get bigger accounts so we can get better information into the algorithm.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Yeah, just to echo that. The reality is that the right has invested so much more time, money, resources, into building up alternative media because they recognized 10 years ago that they weren't getting what they needed from legacy media. Democrats never did that because they always just looked at CNN and MSNBC and said, we're fine. We've got we've got plenty of representation online. We've got the facts on our side. We've got the facts on our side. Well, the reality is that Americans' media consumption habits have changed and they're no longer watching linear TV. They're watching independent media. They're watching independent media. The Republicans have like I said, that huge head start and they've
Starting point is 00:15:37 invested all of this time and energy into this stuff. And so if you go on TikTok, if you go on Instagram, if you go on YouTube, if you go on any of these sites, inevitably, you will fall down a right-wing rabbit hole. It might not be immediate, but there is just so much more right-wing content than left-wing content, you will eventually get there. And that's what allows them to put forward this Sydney-Sweeney stuff, these manufactured crises, and know that people are eventually going to consume that content and think that Democrats are woke and crazy and, you know, the whole thing. And so if you're not yet subscribed to this channel, if you're not yet subscribed to my channel, do what you can to subscribe.
Starting point is 00:16:11 watch some content, get this stuff in the algorithm, not just for you, but so that when other people log on to YouTube or whatever platform they're on, they will get this pro-democracy content before they get right-wing content. So again, to echo Tommy's point, if you're not yet subscribed, it doesn't cost you anything to subscribe. Please help support these voices that are fighting for fighting for some truth out there. That's right. It's free. I'll yell about Sidney-Sweeney. I hate that ad. No? I just don't have it in me. I don't have like the culture or gene in it. I didn't believe it, Tommy. I'm so mad about that, I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:16:47 That Zinad. What are we mad about? Let's get mad about some shit next episode. Let's get really mad about some black rifle coffee or something like that. Episodes over.
