Starting point is 00:00:00 Kayak gets my flight, hotel, and rental car right, so I can tune out travel advice that's just plain wrong. Bro, Skycoin, way better than points. Never fly during a Scorpio full moon. Just tell the manager you'll sue. Instant room upgrade. Stop taking bad travel advice. Start comparing hundreds of sites with kayak and get your trip right. Bad advice.
Starting point is 00:00:24 You talking to me? Kayak, got that right. John, another Friday, another terrible job. report for Donald Trump. Employers added just 22,000 jobs in August. The employment rate rose to 4.3%. And revised data show that we actually lost 13,000 jobs in June, which was the first month of net job loss since December of 2020. But other than that, golden age. Going good, sir. Kevin Hassett, the director of the National Economic Council tried to spin this disaster on Fox News this morning. Let's watch how it went. It's not the number you wanted. It was not
Starting point is 00:00:58 the number that was expected. How come? Right. Well, one of the things we know is that they've been really at BLS struggling with bad response rates. And Goldman Sachs put out a study yesterday that said that they've been messing up the August seasonal so much that over the last 10 to 15 years, they've tended to have to revise up the number by around almost 70,000 jobs when they get the new final surveys. So is their fault? So is that right, John? Is BLS still fake news? There's about to be an outbreak of mortgage fraud at BLS. Watch out.
Starting point is 00:01:33 How many employees at BLS have two homes, and thus Bill Palti can pull their second home mortgage application and go the way of Lisa Cook? I'm guessing most of them, probably. I miss several. Did you see that there was a couple of Trump cabinet officials identified by ProPublica as having done the similar, exact same dual primary mortgage thing that they're accusing? Yeah. That governors of having heard about them, Ken Paxton too. Yeah, so pretty bad number. Also, you know, manufacturing.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Manufacturing is down 12,000, 78,000 over the year. I believe J.D. Vance told us that once we got all these immigrants out of the country, and we slap these tariffs on everyone so that we could, you know, start manufacturing bananas and coffee here again, then the manufacturing was going to go up, right? But we've actually lost manufacturing. There's native-born unemployment. Money in the banana stand. The native-born unemployment rate, highest since the pandemic.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Hmm, interesting. I thought we were just getting rid of foreign-born workers and replacing them with native-born. workers. So Trump clearly knew that today's number was going to be bad because the day before he was trying to pre-spin the data. This clip is from an event Thursday night where Mark Zuckerberg and some other tech CEOs, they took turns buffing Trump's balls with a fine shaming. Let's watch that. Thank you, Mr. President. Tomorrow we have a jobs report coming out. The first since the BLS commissioner who you fired won't be there. A lot of people will be turning to you to see if you believe the data that's released. Can you commit?
Starting point is 00:03:00 to saying the data will be credible. I don't know. They come out tomorrow, but the real numbers that I'm talking about are going to be whatever it is, but we'll be in a year from now where these monstrous, huge, beautiful places, the palaces of genius. And when they start opening up,
Starting point is 00:03:18 you're seeing, I think you'll see job numbers that are going to be absolutely incredible. Right now it's a lot of construction numbers, but you're going to see job numbers like our country has never seen before. Thank you very much. The real numbers are next year, or maybe 2027, or maybe 2028, or the third term jobs reports, they're going to rip. I don't know if you could see there, but Mark Zuckerberg's hand wasn't above the table the entire time.
Starting point is 00:03:42 He was sitting next to Trump. No, look, he was referencing AI data centers there because the economy he's actually building here is AI data centers and detention centers. Right. That's the American, that's the golden age American economy. Everything else. Yeah. And also, you're going to build these AI data centers, but they're not. not going to employ that many people.
Starting point is 00:04:00 No. That's a one-time hit, which is probably why he's excited about it, because maybe, like you said, 27, 28, that'll be it. Also, the broader context is just worth ticking through. It's like last month, Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. He claimed she rigged the jobs report after the July numbers were bad, and they revised down some previous months. As you mentioned, Trump is waging a political war on the Fed because he wants a rate cut.
Starting point is 00:04:22 He's attacking Jerome Powell. He's currently accusing Fed Governor Lisa Cook of a mortgage fraud. The administration keeps peeling. away, you know, appropriations funding authority from Congress. There's Doge, through executive actions, through delays of appropriated funds, the tariffs are wreaking havoc on the economy. The point being, Trump can, like, try to spin this, but no president has ever fully owned an economy like this. I was going to say, like, we head into a recession, or even if we don't, it's just the economy sort of just sputters along like this. It's the fault of not even a
Starting point is 00:04:52 government or a policy or a party's, one man. Biden. One man's decision to do the tariffs. Obama. to do the tariffs universally, even though just about everyone except fucking Howard Nutlick and Kevin Hassett realized it was a dumb idea. But no one wanted to say anything because it's a dear leader. You know, we've got to make Trump happy.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Make him happy. We should probably talk about E.J. Anthony, the guy that they're... Fill everybody on this guy. So the guy that they're trying to install the top of BLS to fix the numbers, because he's got to fix everything. He doesn't have any background in actual labor, statistics, employment law, anything like that. He does have a background in shit posting, apparently.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Our friend Andrew Kaczynski over at CNN just reported today that he has a He found a sock puppet account. I love that and that happens. Yeah, he did say about Kamala Harris, you can't run a race on your knees over a picture that he posted of her where it said it called her
Starting point is 00:05:48 Kamala Harris. So that's the kind of guy that we're going to have at the top of the BLS, just the best people. I first saw him on the Steve Bannon War Room Podcasts where he's a regular. Me and you? We were doing one of these and we had a clip of with Tim Miller. And he's running the BLS.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Yeah. Wow. Good stuff. Finally, Howard Lutnik or Nutlik, as you said earlier, the Secretary of Commerce. He gets the award today for the most creative spin. Here he is on CNBC. Let's listen. I think they'll get better because you'll take out the people who are just trying to create noise against the president.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Take out the people trying to create noise. Let's get the accurate numbers because this is going to be the greatest. growth economy, right? Six months from now, a year from today. Take them out like a Venezuelan boat? What are we talking about here? Wouldn't take a boat in international waters anytime soon if I was working at the BLS. All of a sudden, there's a cruise scheduled for the whole BLS. Things you don't want to do at the BLS. Buy a second home, fill out a mortgage application, or take a boat in international waters.
Starting point is 00:06:47 No, bad news. What's he talking about? I guess it's the BLS stuff? Like, that's so brazen to say it that way. Take them out. Unless you talk about foreign-born, where I don't know what he's talking about. I genuinely don't know me there. Laurie Chavez-Dermer, who's the Labor Secretary, she had a close second. She said the tariffs are working. Unemployment is still holding steady.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Statistically, it's non-existent. I caught that too. That always works. Statistically, you're fine, unemployed, man. It's like everything Democrats are accused of doing or not being in touch with, you know, sort of feeling the pain of the electorate and how tough the economy was during the Biden years. Like, these people are so much worse. Unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Also, John, I know that you and Dan, covered Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy's testimony before the U.S. Senate yesterday, Brian Tyler Cohen and I did it, dug into it as well for a POTS. America YouTube that people can check out. But there was one clip that I really wanted to talk about with you because it was so odd. Let's watch. From the news media and from any other source. And obviously the easiest thing for our Democratic colleagues to do is to scare people
Starting point is 00:07:53 because that is a powerful emotion. no matter what the facts may be. He sounds like a pug or a dog breed where they like breed out the nose. Yeah. It's like he has like sleep apnea, except he's awake. Also, can you guys just put up like the image of his face somewhere in here? Did you see how tan he looked? Yeah, I saw your tweet comparing it to a football, which I think is correct.
Starting point is 00:08:22 The spray tan was so out of control. He looked like a catcher's mitt from the 1970s. I mean, as you referenced with the football, I don't know if it's just the spray tan. Like, he's so leathery. Yeah. It's, I mean, talk about fucking makeup. Yeah, that.
Starting point is 00:08:35 What a specimen. What a specimen. The guy can barely breathe. His fucking face is falling off. It looks like a piece of beef jerky wearing a suit. If a recliner in a cigar bar morphed into a human being, it would be RFK Jr. It's like a...
Starting point is 00:08:50 With the same lung capacity, too, being a cigar bar. He looks like a saddle from the gold rush arrow. Get that guy in a museum. Finally, John, you and I have both been on Jesse Waters show before on Fox News. Our best friend. We enjoyed the repartee, some good-natured sparring, even though I find it's politics pretty abhorrent. I know you do, too. But I saw this clip this morning that made me worry about Jesse on a human level.
Starting point is 00:09:14 And I just wanted to play it for you. We're the fatest, sickest, and most mentally ill we've ever been. I think we can all agree if we've been to the beach recently that we don't look so good. Jesse, you look fine. Do we need to send him some ozempic? We all age. It's hard to eat right every day. You have a stressful job.
Starting point is 00:09:33 You look fine, Jesse. Does he need to do the, like, the Pete Hegseth workout challenge, whatever it is? Oh, yeah. Everybody's doing that. Do some pull-ups? What is it? Is 100 push-ups 50 pull-ups? I feel like you time it, though.
Starting point is 00:09:43 That's pretty hard. I feel like that's revealing something about Jesse Waters that he's concerned about. And I just want you to, like, again, we can help put you on a diet, maybe, you know, some supplements. The Zempe's everywhere. The Zempe's everywhere. The crew at Marlago, they can get you a good, you know, nip-tuck guy. We are going to get you, Jesse Waters, beach ready by next summer so that you can take off your shirt at whatever beach you go to. They'll be, you know, feel confident.
Starting point is 00:10:12 You will be, you'll have an eight-pack. Perfect, Jesse. Okay, well, that's it for this, Pod Save America on YouTube. Thank you for watching.
