Starting point is 00:00:29 This podcast is all about going deeper with the women's shaping culture right now. we will talk about the style and the success, but we are also talking about the pressure, the expectations, and the real work behind it all. As a woman in the industry, you're always underestimated. So you have to work extra hard in a way that doesn't compromise who you are in your integrity.
Starting point is 00:00:49 You know, I like to say I was kind of like a silent ninja. Listen to It Girl with Bailey Taylor on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Join me, Lily Herman, as we dive into the under-explored pockets of F-1, including the story of the woman who last participated in a Formula One race weekend,
Starting point is 00:01:14 the recent uptick in F-1 romance novels, and plenty of mishap scandals and sagas that have made Formula One a delightful, decadent dumpster fire for more than 75 years. Listen to No Grip on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Clayton Eckerd in 2022. I was the lead of ABC's The Bachelor. But here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Bachelor fans hated him. If I could press a button and rewind it all I would. That's when his life took a disturbing turn. A one-night stand would end in a courtroom. The media is here. This case has gone viral. The dating contract. Agree to date me, but I'm also suing you.
Starting point is 00:01:55 This is unlike anything I've ever seen before. I'm Stephanie Young. Listen to Love Trapped on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the middle of the night, Saskia awoke in a haze. Her husband, Mike, was on his laptop. What was on his screen
Starting point is 00:02:13 would change Saskia's life forever. I said, I need you to tell me exactly what you're doing. And immediately, the mask came off. You're supposed to be safe. That's your home. That's your husband.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Listen to Betrayal Season 5 on the IHeart Radio, app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I am so excited for the comment section today. Oh, no. Literally. You all are going to die with this brand new segment. We've never tried this before.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Alexis has definitely never tried this before. And it's happening right now. Thank you for finding the Brooke and Jeffrey second date podcast. We are so glad you're here. And we do try to read every comment and even feature some of them. So please tap away. Let us know your thoughts. Yes, and one person, Mr. Mejohn.
Starting point is 00:03:02 said, I always wait to start getting ready for work until I have a new episode to listen to. So if I'm ever late, I will be blaming a radio show 2,000 miles away. There you go. And just so you know, it's Alexis that posts it. Hey! So when it's late. It's not me, it's the Wi-Fi. No, whatever.
Starting point is 00:03:20 It's your Starbucks run. Let's be honest. All right. Here we go. Your brand new episode starts right now. You've heard the phrase pulling a bait and switch, where you're expecting one thing to happen and then suddenly whoop something completely
Starting point is 00:03:35 different. Yeah. Well, we just pulled maybe the biggest bait and switch move we've ever done. And I could tell you, one person in this room was very happy about it. The other was absolutely not. And you're going to hear that coming up
Starting point is 00:03:51 in another brand new segment right after this. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. And if you're a listener to this show, you may remember a segment that we did. We've only done it couple times called Brooke breaks you up. Yes. Where a guy or gal will come on the show saying they want to dump their significant other.
Starting point is 00:04:14 And they just need a little bit of help. And the last time that we did this, Brooke broke up with a single working mother of three. That's not true. The guy wasn't even sure that he wanted to do it. Brooke just took the reins and said, I'll do it. And she enjoyed it. And I think the quote was your garbage. Look how big Brooke is smiling, thinking about the last time she broke up a happy couple.
Starting point is 00:04:38 This segment is so emotionally taxing on me, okay? Way to make somebody else's breakup about you, Brooke. Good job. You're about to spring a breakup on somebody and you're worried about yourself already? Yes. So is that what's happening today? Fortunately, no. Kill the music, Ashton, kill the music.
Starting point is 00:04:56 We're not doing that. What are we doing? Instead of Brooke breaks you up, we're doing an even cringier segment. called Alexis asks you out. Yes! No! Yes, I am so here for that. Has she ever asked a guy out?
Starting point is 00:05:12 And why would I? Now Alexis, as you can hear, knew absolutely nothing about this beforehand. She has not been prepped. Oh, my gosh. Not that that would have helped at all. But her job today is to help one of our listeners score a first date with a special someone. Oh, no. And who are we helping out today?
Starting point is 00:05:31 A guy named Connor. who wants to ask out his crush. Oh, I thought I was going to get to help a girl. I have to help a guy. Don't you think that's going to be easier? You just can guide him to say what you would want to hear. No, Alexis, you're going to be doing the asking on his behalf. So it's a girl-to-girl chat.
Starting point is 00:05:48 That's called Alexis asks you out. I thought it was called Simp on the line. Okay, we're going to edit that one out. Connor. You can't do it yourself, Connor. I'll be, Brooke, you don't know the situation. Let's hear him out. Connor, welcome to the show, ma'am.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Hey, how's it going, guys? Boo! Okay. Oh, sorry. We're going to be open here. What's up, Connor? Normally, we'd start this off with a little fact-finding mission, asking Connor questions about this girl that he likes, but not today.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Remember, this is Alexis asks you out. So Alexis, you have the floor, whatever you want to talk about with Connor. Go ahead and make it quick because we do have to make the call in a minute and a half. Really should have prepped me. Wait, we're doing the call now? Yes, right? It's radio. What's her name?
Starting point is 00:06:32 Where'd you meet? Or why does it she like you? I need to know. Okay, start with the name, maybe. Okay, so I met Jenna three weeks to go at a party. And we made out. We had a great time. It was like a very good, strong connection.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Now, I haven't heard from her in a few weeks now. And the vibes I'm getting from her friends is that maybe she regrets it or, like, kind of like, I might not be her type. But I'm not really sure. He's not going to let that deter him, Alexis. Don't wait. Nor should you. This is why I need you guys' help.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And I want to shoot my shot about going on another date. Well, a first date, it sounds like. Yeah. Yeah, you just had to make out one time at a party. Yeah, I guess the first day, exactly, a proper first day. But, you know, when I wrote in, I thought Brooke would be helping me. But your producer said Alexis would be perfect. That's a good call.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Good call on our producer. Can I ask how much you drank at the party? Do you both, like, do you think she remembers you? That seems like a relevant question. I mean, we were, you know, we were buzzing, but we weren't like, I wouldn't say anyone who was blackout. Okay, that's good. Okay, so it still counts. What's the next question, Alexis?
Starting point is 00:07:40 Okay, Barack always likes to make this not shallow and ask, what did you like about her? Besides her looks, that's not one of us. You always ask that. Why he isn't just doing this? Like, what is he scared? What is he scared about? Aside from being really hot girl, like, she had a very bold personality and was very confident. And I liked that she was just very, yeah, she came up.
Starting point is 00:07:59 to me, actually. That's how we started talking. That's cute. Okay, now than what she said, why aren't you doing this to yourself? I'm a little nervous because of what some of her friends have said. Like, you know, she does this and then she regrets it the next day. God, why would you regret making out at a party? Yeah. What a waste of energy.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Just enjoy it. Alexis, you've never made out with a guy that you didn't genuinely have feelings for, right? Oh, yeah. I will say this. Her friend has been very, very, very, very. responsive, you know, and I'm like, are you, is she interested and she's trying to curb on her best friend? I don't know. It's a little weird. Oh, so you think not one, but two of them are into you then? Yeah. Like her and her friend. Yeah, exactly. That's pretty much. All right, Alexis,
Starting point is 00:08:43 do you feel like you've enough information to ask this girl out on Connor's behalf? Yeah, do we need to know what type of date, though? Like, can I promise her something big? This is going to be a big day. Connor, how much money do you have? You don't want to bribe her into going. Alexis, you're going to have to figure out in another way. Let's do drinks and dinner, or maybe let's just do drinks. And then if it's a vibe, like, we could go to dinner after. Is there any other bennies? Like, why would someone want to date him?
Starting point is 00:09:12 Why would someone want to date you? Sorry, that was supposed to sound. That sounded very genuine question. Very natural. I mean, I'm a cool guy. I like to hang and, like, yeah, I got this really cool DVD collection. I think she would be in a good idea. Oh, let's lead with that, Alexis.
Starting point is 00:09:27 I'm not going to mention. Are you sure? You have so much to work with. Okay. I got every video a Lord of the Rings, girl. Yeah, I don't think we could take any more information from Connor because for the first time ever in the history of this show. Alexis asks you out. I don't want to do it.
Starting point is 00:09:44 She is going to swindle Jenna into going out with the guys she says is not her type and maybe even gave her the serious ick. I might have just added that on my own. You get the picture. It's a serious undertaking, and Alexis is going to make that call with Alexis asks you out. I don't like this. I can't wait. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. The radio show that's doing segments, nobody else in the world is willing to try.
Starting point is 00:10:13 That's right. Let's go, Jeff. For good reason. This one's called Alexis asks you out. Where our resident Gen Z blonde-ish question mark has boldly. It's blunt. Boldly raised her hand and said, I volunteer to help our listeners.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Yes. This is all her idea. I can't believe you just came charging into the producer's studio and said that to him. Uh-huh. So brave of you. And in this particular case, it's a guy named Connor, who made out with some girl named Jenna at a party about three weeks ago. Afterwards, she apparently went and told her friend,
Starting point is 00:10:48 she kind of regrets it, and Connor's not really her type. But like most men, he is still interested. I mean, what if the friends are lying, Alexis? Because they want him. Everybody wants him. Those guys would get the hits right now. Alexis is about to speak to this young woman one-on-one, girl-on-girl. Yes.
Starting point is 00:11:06 And see if she can convince her to give Connor a chance. And that's what's going to say to this. Because Alexis can talk to the girl and be like, nah, he's a good guy. And don't forget about his DVD collection. Right. That was a big selling point. And all we're asking here is one date. We're not asking for love or marriage or girlfriend's stuff.
Starting point is 00:11:24 status or anything. Although that will come eventually. We'll have Alexis asked for that too. But the rest of the room is not going to join in on the call till the deal is either officially done or ditched. I'm all alone. You want me to reach over and hold your hand at any point? Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:40 We're about to do it. Connor, do you have any final words of encouragement for Alexis before we make the call? I mean, trust your gut. You got this. And just, yeah, I'll be very happy if you can make it happen. I guess not saying good things, but Well, go with that then
Starting point is 00:11:57 And just as a reminder, Connor, you don't say anything. Don't jump in until we call you in to ask us to join the call, okay? Got it. All right? Here we go. I'm going to dial Jenna's number right now.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Let's do it. Is this Jenna? Yes. Hi. I were going to really mean radio show that made me call you. It's called Burke and Jeffrey in the morning. You probably haven't heard of it.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Did you say your name? What? Oh, I'm Alexis. Sorry, my name's Alexis. We're going to radio show. But I'm calling about a guy named Connor, who you made out with three weeks to go to party. Do you remember him? What is going on?
Starting point is 00:12:52 Yeah, well, um, Connor. Sorry, I hate this. Why? You're doing so good. She's starting to sweat. You love this. Alexis. Connor called us because he's still thinking about you in that makeout, but he heard from your friends that like maybe you're not that into him or he's not your type.
Starting point is 00:13:11 But I was just calling to see if that's true. Did you like him? We're going to bring it up. Immediately ask. I don't know. Well, he is not my type. Oh. Can I ask why?
Starting point is 00:13:26 Where do I start? Oh, no. Well, he's. 5-8 and I just don't like date guys that are under 5-11 Oh Change your mind
Starting point is 00:13:42 Okay, I get you I'm like that and a lot of my friends are like that But short guys work harder There it is Because not as many girls are into them What? No Don't like that They have to put in more work
Starting point is 00:13:56 That's good for you So I should be into him because All girls aren't Not as many, so he'll try harder than like a cocky six-foot guy. Oh, huh. Okay, if there are any other reasons or Zatik? I feel like we covered that one. I'm trying to hang up already.
Starting point is 00:14:15 We covered that one. That was it. Well, I'm glad it's funny to you. No, it's not. I really don't enjoy myself right now. Like, honestly, I'm like that. No, not because of you, because of my coworkers. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:29 Oh, it's helpful. I'm sorry. Okay, let's go back. Connor. Other things you don't like about him are Well, he wore so much cologne That it set off the smoke alarm Oh my God, wait, actually?
Starting point is 00:14:41 Like actually set it off. I mean, may as well have, yeah. It was that loud. Oh, I actually hate that. But it is better than B.O. B. Sills worse. I think I had that too. Okay, well, we could change that.
Starting point is 00:14:57 We can buy him deodorant. And when he borrow his hoodies, they're going to smell really good. Honey, would you go out with a guy that was wearing a sleeveless shirt that said, I flexed and the sleeves fell off? Baby. I believe it. He was wearing that to the party in public? To the party, yes.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Yes. Oh, it's funny. It's funny. The shirt. It was not funny. But did he have good muscles? No. Okay, well, I think those are all very fixable things.
Starting point is 00:15:30 And he has a DVD collection. Did you know that? Nice. I do know about the DVD collection. Yeah, he could talk of almost nothing else. Oh, and how many push-ups he could do. Oh. But I didn't believe that.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Okay, so we're running out of time. So let's just say that he was drinking and that's why he did all those things. And when he's sober, he's not like that at all. which you go out on one date with him? I mean, you have given me no compelling reasons to reconsider my position. What if he's rich? Oh, no, honey, he's not rich. He was drinking rolling rock.
Starting point is 00:16:13 There is no one. Oh, drinking rolling rock. Okay. How about just one day if you don't like him, you can ghost him, block him, all block him. As a show, we can all block him if you don't like him. I mean, I think I did already. Oh. Okay. Well, do I still have to think of good things to say?
Starting point is 00:16:31 I don't know. That'd be nice. We said we won't jump on until we get a definitive yes or no. Okay, so can I just get a clarification? Yes, you would like to go on just one date. It could be 30 minutes. I don't really care. Just say yet. Just one date with Connor. I mean, he would have to change, like, a lot. I don't think it's possible. What if you wore a full T-shirt? I mean, okay. Look, I will do 15 minutes with no work. Rolling Rock and no graphic T-shirt with the sleeves cut off.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Okay. And no push-ups and no DVDs. And no cologne, right? No cologne. 15 minutes. Perfect! Yes! She said yes!
Starting point is 00:17:09 Did you hear that, Connor? You got a date. Alexis asked you out. It actually works. Oh, my God. Connor, you there? Thanks, John. I'm here. I'm here.
Starting point is 00:17:20 I'm here. Wow. She sounded like a piece of work, actually. What? Connor, you were drinking rolling rocks. You're the piece of work. But she said yes. She said yes to a date with you for 15 minutes.
Starting point is 00:17:30 I know, which I'm definitely bracing myself. So hopefully, I'm going to say positive here. You're bracing yourself. Wait, you didn't like what you heard, Connor? She's a little different than what I remember, I guess. Oh. Well, drunk makeup is... How so?
Starting point is 00:17:45 That hazy memory. When we were making out, you know, we weren't talking, so I didn't have to even hear her. Oh, Connor. And you like that better. He thought she loved the DVD collection. I think someone's hurt. on the phone. I mean, she heard about the DVD collection, and Ben still made out with me. Bro, you've got a date, so I would just say thank you and hang out.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Yeah, we're going to go for it. Let's see what happens. Oh, wow. No, I didn't know he was listening. No, I'm not doing this. Connor. I'm sorry. I did all that. Oh, Lexus asks you out backfires somehow. Because of our listener being stupid. Well, you can't go gas like. Connor, you were the one that were just risen him up. Darn. I kind of got a back Alexis on that one.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Connor didn't do any favors when you got on the phone. Connor. Did you hear what was being said about him? I understood. But if he really wanted the date, like, I wouldn't have said yes either. Shocking. I mean, if I was Connor, after hearing that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Got it. I'm never doing this again. Connor, I'm sorry, man. It was a yes. Then it was a no. But at least at the end of the day, we get to blame Brooke for this. Yes. Why do I get blamed?
Starting point is 00:18:54 Because you never spoke up and we'd, specifically asked you to, Bill. I was looking at you for help. Where were you? Absent. Absent again. Alexis asked you out. And Brooke ruined it. Text in to 7-8-5-9-2 if you want Alexis to shoot your shot on your behalf.
