And guess who's talking?
We do have a new second date video
that's up today. We're doing them once a week.
So definitely check that out and let us know
what you like. We constantly get the
oh my God, you guys like nothing like how I
Yeah, Brooke may be showered today.
Yeah, wait, don't tell us better or worse.
I didn't think about that.
No, no.
I always assume we look better than what they thought.
No, but I've seen some worse comments.
Don't worry.
Yeah, there's some.
Yeah, there's some.
There's always some.
But today is a brand new awkward Tuesday phone call.
Before we get to this awkward call, though, what do we got on the comments?
Yeah, Aksu Poxu said, I was celebrating midsummer with my family and relatives,
and some drama ended up happening like always.
Anyways, I was listening to you guys and started laughing while.
My aunt was yelling and crashing out on everybody.
When she saw me laughing, she completely lost it and left the party.
Love from Finland.
Hey, well, that's probably good.
We got her out of there for you.
Why do I like to hear that Finnish families are as, I don't know, like,
chaotic as U.S. families.
It makes me feel better.
All right.
Here we go.
You're brand new.
Oh, this is actually really appropriate awkward Tuesday phone call for you guys.
Speaking of a crashout.
Family one.
Yeah.
It starts right now.
If a former crush slips you a secret note, that's pretty exciting, right?
Yeah.
Well, not for our listener.
He says as soon as he got handed that piece of paper, he started to sweat profusely and broke out in a rash from how nervous the entire thing made him.
And when you find out the reason why you'll understand why this could be probably the most awkward of all awkward calls ever.
It's coming up right after this.
It's awkward.
It's Tuesday.
It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
Attending a family reunion can bring up a lot of feelings and emotions.
Joy, nostalgia, Brooks case arousal.
Oh, my God, Jeffrey.
But maybe the one emotion that you don't want to feel is awkwardness.
I mean, can you avoid it when your whole family gets together?
That's a good point.
But apparently that's how one of our listeners, George, felt when he met up with some of his extended family members recently.
And now he's bringing the drama from his family circle into hours.
Does that mean we all have to wear matching t-shirts?
It's a reunion, you know.
If that's what it takes.
George, welcome to the show, man.
How's it going?
Good.
Good.
Did the reunion already happened, George?
Yeah, it happened.
It was a few weeks back.
Okay.
Okay.
So it's lingering.
So you survived it.
Maybe.
Yeah.
Okay.
What made you reach out to our show for help?
Okay, yeah.
So basically, we were having a little family reunion.
It was extended family, so people I knew and didn't know too well, nice little barbecue.
You're like, wow, we all kind of look alike.
Cool.
Yeah.
It was a good vibe.
And then I say probably about an hour and a half.
And this younger girl, probably around my age, she came in.
And she just looks super familiar, but I couldn't really put my finger on where I knew her from.
Guessing she's a cousin.
Yeah, I was wrong.
I got to be right.
So I was asking my aunt about her later.
She goes, you know, that's Ashley.
That's your second cousin.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
So I was like, okay, maybe I met her a while back.
But then it just dawned on me that we had met at a coffee shop.
I was actually at a coffee shop trying to support a friend playing a little acoustic guitar.
guitar night, a little open mic night.
Oh, nice.
And we actually met that night, and we kind of hit it off.
Shut up.
Oh, dude.
You had already met her?
You said it was your second cousin.
Off limits, bro.
Yeah, but I didn't know until the reunion.
You guys aren't listening.
Oh.
So there was romantic vibes happening when you two met?
Yeah, we hit it off.
Like she, you know, my number and full transparency, he hinted towards the fact that if I came over
later that night and her parents weren't there, I'd probably get lucky.
Her parents weren't there.
And thank God, she never called me.
Oh, my gosh.
Looking back.
So did you feel sick when you saw her at the reunion?
Were you like, oh, God?
I mean, why are you telling me with us this?
I would take this to the grave.
I would never mention it ever, ever again to anyone.
So when your aunt told you that she's actually your second cousin, what was going through
your head?
I mean, panic, sweating.
Just trying to confirm is this really happening.
Am I dreaming? Pinch me, that type of stuff.
But then we're at, so we're at the reunion.
She handed me a piece of paper saying, you know, we need to talk.
We need to talk.
And this is where I'm at now.
That's why I called y'all.
I just need some advice.
I don't know what she wants to talk about.
I don't know if she's mad.
Sorry to interrupt you, George.
Brooke, why are you shaking your head no right now with like the frowniest face I've ever seen you make?
Why would she need to talk?
Yeah.
There's nothing to talk about.
But you're assuming that she wants to talk about their romantic interaction.
Yes, of course.
What else would she want to talk about?
The aunt's salad recipe?
You guys, I need to correct you on that.
There was actually no romantic interaction.
I mean, there was a little bit of flirting and whatnot, but it wasn't, you know, like that.
So it got, like, heated.
It was just a little flirt.
Everything above the belt.
It could be.
Well said.
You shouldn't have said it, but well, done.
Sure.
We were in a coffee shop.
I never even hung out with her after that.
Okay.
Thank goodness.
Yeah, that's a good thing.
I just fear she's still interested.
That's what she wants to call.
Oh, what?
Okay, listen, maybe she just wants to say, hey, listen, what happened in the coffee shop can never be said to any of our family ever.
She's just trying to squash it.
Yeah.
Okay, well, that's perfect.
I'm just glad he's not calling the radio about it then.
I didn't know where else it's turn.
You know, I can't talk to my family about it.
Yeah.
You just listen to us one day and you're like, wait a minute.
These are the people that are going to help.
He's like, one of the host talks about her cousins dating.
Guys, I've never dated a cousin, been attracted to him, cousin.
I've never kissed a cousin, even a second cousin, a third cousin.
Someone's protesting a whole lot about it.
You know what they say.
Anyway, so what do you want to do then with your awkward Tuesday phone call here?
What advice are you looking for?
I have no idea what she's going to say.
I just kind of need some advice on my temperament, my mood.
And I don't even know if she's interested in me, and that would be super weird.
Okay.
Yeah.
Are you still?
I mean, when you saw her,
don't ask.
Don't ask.
I'm not answering to her.
Okay.
Oh, geez.
I'm going to read between the lines.
Well, I just hope you're a super hot family.
All of you are attracted to each other.
No comment feels so bad.
Just lie and say no, please.
Let's get something you can't answer.
What's her name?
Ashley.
Cousin Ashley.
We're going to put cousin at the front.
Just to remind everybody.
Even the way he was saying that, he was smiling.
You could tell.
Anyway.
Let's give you some advice.
We're going to come back, tell you exactly what you need to do before we let you make your awkward Tuesday phone call to the second cousin you had a little flirtation with not too long ago right after this.
This was like two years ago.
Oh, it was that long ago.
Oh, I don't think I realized the timeline.
Oh, gosh.
That's right.
Distance makes the heart grows fond of, so hopefully not too fond when we do your awkward Tuesday phone call right after this.
It's awkward.
It's Tuesday.
It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, and if you're just joining us, this is the definition of awkward Tuesday.
Yeah.
It's already awkward.
Our listener, George, bumped into a woman at a coffee shop two years ago.
He described that interaction as flirtatious.
Nothing happened, but there were definite vibes.
No, I mean, she invited him over to her place that night.
She eluded.
She alluded that she would like him, make him.
to swing by later that night.
Thankfully, that did not happen because two years later, he's at his family reunion and
sees that same woman from the coffee shop only to learn it's actually his second cousin,
Ashley.
We want to emphasize second.
Normally it's not that important, but I think it is right now.
It doesn't matter.
That's not close enough.
We're trying to help.
I don't care what number you put at the front of cousin.
You can't.
I mean, maybe we get it to double digits and it's fine.
But like, the point is,
they were introduced.
They didn't say a whole lot to each other.
But at one point, she did slip him a note that said the most terrifying four words anybody can hear.
We need to talk.
Yeah.
And so he has no clue what that's about.
He's so nervous that he wanted our advice before he reached out to her.
So, Brooke, what do you have for him?
What advice can you give?
Well, the nervous is the problem right now.
Honestly, the more nervous you sound, the more it sounds like you're into her.
Yes, you're right.
You have to be chill.
You have to care.
Not at all.
Nonchalant, bro.
But I don't have a crush on her.
And I think if you were in my situation, you'd be slightly nervous, too, because this is a really weird situation.
I'm not saying you have a crush.
I'm just saying you sound like you could if you come off nervous.
Okay, I get it, but I don't have a crush.
Okay, but just the way you said it makes it sound like you do.
So try to like revamp your attitude right now.
And Jose is going to give you some more advice.
What do you think?
Jose. Well, you don't know what's coming. It could be good. It could be bad. So you want to keep the mood
light and set the tone immediately, which means it's time to tell a joke. A family joke, and I got a
perfect one. Remember this. Why do the computer go to a family reunion?
Why? Why? To see its data.
Ah!
Because it's like a dad. I like that. So if you start with that, make her laugh, then just ride that the whole way.
I'm sure she, I mean, Alexis can't stop laughing.
Maybe you choose a joke related to your family.
What do you think about putting a little bit of humor at the beginning, George?
I mean, if you guys are saying that that's the way to go.
I mean, I think it will make me sound less nervous, so let's go with it.
Okay.
You sound like such a funny guy.
Yeah.
So this will go well.
Is he going to tell a nervous joke right now?
I'm scared of what's going to happen, but we're running out of time.
So I just got to dial Ashley's number.
We're going to step away and let you talk to your second cousin and see why she wanted to speak to you so badly.
Oh, man.
This is the worst call I've ever had to make in my entire life.
One of the worst we've had to hear.
So we're with you, George.
This is extra awkward.
I'm kind of excited, though.
I'm dialing you right now.
From, um,
Hey.
You said you needed to talk about something?
Well, it's just funny because I don't know, like,
if you knew that we had actually met a while back.
Yeah, I mean, it did dawn on me.
I mean, I think it was at that coffee join.
my friend was playing guitar
I don't really remember much
Okay, well you just didn't say anything about it
That day when we saw each other
Yeah
Yeah, it was weird that you didn't say anything
Yeah, I don't really remember a lot
Okay
Well, I just think it's strange
Because when I look back on it
It seemed like you were really attracted to me
Oh, no.
And I never called you.
Is that right?
If I'm remembering correctly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I'm happy now.
You never called me.
I wasn't happy back then, but I was definitely happy now.
I'm happy now.
So, like, I don't know you, you know, I don't know how you are.
Like, if you would think it's funny and just, like, bring out to someone.
But I would be mortified.
Yeah.
And I would feel like our family.
would like never let it go
and I just wouldn't want to show my face
in another reunion
you know what I mean
and then
sure
cool
glad we're on the same page
because um
I just wanted to like
get clarity because
I remember you know
from before
and then how you looked at me
at the get together
and
I just feel like
you're still attracted to me
and I just think it's weird
what?
No
when you taught you were my second
cousin. It's confirmed now. I mean, like, yeah, you are an attractive person, but I'm not
attractive to you. Okay, please don't make this any more awkward that it has to be, like.
No, no, I don't want to say that. I'm just, I am telling you that, I mean, you do have
nice lips and a nice jawline, but I'm not attracted to you, but I could see how someone else would
think that that is attractive, but we're related, I mean. Right. We are related. And,
We know that now, and this is just not going to come up again,
and then we'll never mention it again to anyone because it's, like, weird.
I'm definitely not going to mention to anyone how I was attracted to you,
but I'm no longer attracted to you, even though you still have attractive features,
like your body.
Thanks, but please just stop.
I just don't want it.
I just don't want him to be awkward.
Awkward.
That's our cue.
I just can't let it keep going.
What is that?
Hello?
Oh, God.
Hello, Ashley.
We're a radio show.
About not talking about it thing.
Yeah.
We just heard all that.
Oh, no.
How did you hear about this?
We've actually been a part of this since the beginning of the call because we're with ancestry.com.
Yeah.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding, Ashley.
Like, who called me?
So George wanted to call you after he got the note that you gave him at the family reunion,
and he felt really nervous, very awkward about making this call.
He wanted a little advice and a little support.
Okay.
So it wouldn't be weird.
You guys just can't happen.
This is on the radio.
This is so embarrassing.
Oh, it's fine.
Nothing happened.
You guys will be able to laugh about it.
So I don't want this to be a family, like, inside joke or something.
No, no, no.
We don't know.
Nobody knows who you are right now.
We have a whole Mayflower.
joke in our family because there is a direct
relationship between two members
anyway, it gets funny.
Sure. It gets funny. Your other time.
Go ahead. George, tell her a joke.
This is a good time.
All right, so,
I think, have you ever,
tell me the joke again one more time.
You can't hear it if I tell you again.
It's about the computer going to the reunion.
The computer at the family reunion.
What did they say, Dad, that? What was the
Oh, my God.
His dad out.
Oh, my God.
George.
George.
Oh, my God.
My mom was right.
You are from the stupid side of the family.
Oh, whoa, that's what you're about.
Okay, that's.
Hey, hey, hey, stupid is.
The stupid does.
That means you're stupid as well.
That's not a good comeback.
No.
It's a sick burn.
Yeah.
Bottom line, Ashley, is George is not attracted to you.
Why are we saying it again?
Yeah.
Because she doesn't seem to get like that.
That's what's actually happening.
I don't think anybody does.
We're trying to help Brooke.
We're trying to help George confirm there is no romantic interest on his part whatsoever.
I think I made that clear.
I said it like four times.
Yes, but then you added on commentary about her look.
Yeah, you added other stuff.
Yeah.
Her lips or jawline.
There was a body mention in there.
I don't think we need the reminder.
It got weird.
Yeah.
So just delete all that from your memory.
George does not feel that way about you.
Oh, sorry.
thing.
Oh, no, she's not feeling.
Just get your parents to host and leave some of the family off the invite list.
Yeah, leave the dumb part of the family out.
Wait, I don't get that part.
Who are the dumb people?
Oh.
Who are the dumb people?
I guess it's a mystery.
We'll never know.
No one will.
Dumb people say who?
Yeah.
Anyway, it sounds like you two are in a good place.
You're never going to mention it.
It's better than it was.
I think it's better.
You guys are never going to talk about this again.
Luckily, there's going to be no record of it online living on Brooke and Jeffrey
podcast. Any last words? This is the last you're ever going to talk about this conversation.
Wow. You know, whatever you're doing in your workout routine, keep going.
Oh my gosh. My God. Why would you say it? I'm just saying from a family member to a family
No. No. Ask for like a potato salad recipe.
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Don't, no. I think there's a healthy,
family friendship that can come out of this whole situation.
No.
I really do.
They didn't know each other before.
They can stick to that.
You know what I mean?
Like it wasn't an important part of the family that you've lost.
It was a second cousin.
You didn't know.
Let's just keep on not knowing them.
There was some sort of tension was definitely there between them.
But I'll just say, whenever I'm at a family reunion, nobody ever complements me on my body.
And I think that would actually feel really nice.
You want that.
Yeah, for somebody to notice.
Little Jeffrey, you've grown up so much.
Look at that rock.
body you have.
I know.
If your mom hears this,
I feel like she might take this too far.
I think it's too far.
Like now I'm starting to understand
the experiences that you've had.
I can admit I was wrong.
That seems nice.
I have not had these experiences.
No, it's totally innocent.
Until the cousin who's a pizza guy arrives,
then who knows what's going to happen.
You're in Jeff's family.
