We'll talk about all that's viral and trending, with a little bit of cheesement and a whole lot of laughs. And, of course, the great bibras you've come to expect.

Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. On the new podcast, America's Crime Lab, every case has a story to tell. And the DNA holds the truth. He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen.

Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Each week, I, your host, Mandy Money, gives you real talk, real advice with a heavy dose of I feel uses. Like on Fridays when I take your questions for the BAQA.

Listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back from a long weekend that hopefully you enjoyed.
Starting point is 00:02:40 It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. And this is your second date podcast. Every weekend needs to be three days. It literally just makes your mental health so much better. So much better. Who do we petition? I don't know. For the four-day work week.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Yeah, I don't know that we have enough pull. But today we do have a brand new awkward Tuesday phone call for you to start your short work week. And we're so glad you're here. We love all your messages. I did spend some time reading through them over the weekend and replying to as many as I could. Yeah. What do you see, Alexis? That was fun to look at.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Tattooed Barbie said, the worst date I've ever been on ended with the dude peeing in front of my car. Or what he insisted was the front of my car, not on the front of my car. Yeah. You have to aim for something. He was probably going, looking at the tire and accidentally. Oh, and the date's even worse than that if you need a story for an episode. Oh. Oh, that sounds like a great date.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Yeah, if you ever want to be on the show, all you have to go is to brook and jeffrey.com, and there's a submit section there. All right, let's get to your brand new Awquerd Tuesday phone call right now. There's certain rites of passage that every boy must go through in order to become a man.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Oh, yeah. Like first time grilling a steak over an open flame. Wow. Learning to shave with a razor. I still remember. Learning to shave with a razor. a butcher's knife.
Starting point is 00:04:01 What? Oh my gosh. Don't do that. And then, of course, performing your first original song at your own bar mitzvah. Reach, reach for the sky. Oh, man. And try to touch a moon. This song doesn't scream masculinity at you.
Starting point is 00:04:18 I don't know what does. But today, one of our listeners is facing an even bigger life moment for any man. And the only thing standing in his way is his girlfriend's very, scary, very traditional father. Oh. You're going to understand why he's so terrified of calling him when we do your brand new Awkward Tuesday phone call right after this. It's awkward.
Starting point is 00:04:44 It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call. On this show, we've been there and helped people through some pretty big life moments. Yeah, for sure. Brooks' wedding, Jose's Dirty 30. We even had to help our technical director. Mr. Ashton with his adult circumcision. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:03 I think it was just you that was there for him. I was in the hospital room holding his hand through the entire procedure. Ashton was really happy about that. You left it too, it sounds like. Yeah, so we've been there for each other, and we're ready to be there for our listeners, too. During their big life moments, like today's caller Garrett, who reached out seeking our wise counsel. So Garrett, welcome to the show. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Thanks for having me. Or do you need a bris. Are you here? Are you, like, in the parking law, bro? Is this some sort of surgery that you're seeking help with? No, no surgery, guys. But honestly, I've been dating my girlfriend, Sienna, for almost two years. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Okay. I just feel like now is the time. So I'm looking to propose her. Oh, that's up. You want to do it on our show? Well, I know how I want to do it. Oh, it doesn't sound like that's a yes step. Okay, not without a shit.
Starting point is 00:06:04 You know what? Are we just helping? Don't blame you for that way. I hope she doesn't listen. What if she hears that? You'll ruin the surprise. No, she doesn't listen to you guys. Sorry, she's kind of into other stuff.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Wow. And you still want to marry her. Interesting. That's why she wants to marry her. Oh, yeah. Red flag number one. Okay. Sounds smart.
Starting point is 00:06:21 So what made you come to us about like an awkward call? What do you need help with? So she goes from a very traditional family Where they expect you to kind of ask the dad's permission You know I don't even come from a traditional family And my husband didn't do this And it still kind of irks me to this day I always play it I would ask a girl's dad
Starting point is 00:06:41 He's so close with my dad Like they have such a good relationship I'm like how did you skip that Is it too late for him to ask your dad now I mean I don't even married for like My dad may take him over me Obviously Okay well there's an option
Starting point is 00:06:55 for you, but it sounds like, Garrett, this is really important you want to talk to the dad before you pop the question to your girlfriend. Well, absolutely. And I'm kind of very nervous about that. I mean... Wait, what kind of relationship do you have with her dad? We're pretty cool. I've met him a couple of times and hung out and stuff, so...
Starting point is 00:07:15 I think it's natural for a lot of guys to be nervous about talking to the dad about this subject. I don't think that's out of the norm. Well, you want them to like you and you want them to say yes. Right. Right. Wait, if the dad says no. then you can't marry the daughter, right?
Starting point is 00:07:27 He's not how it works. Well, I mean, I'm just, I'm curious, are you worried that he might say no to you? Well, here's the thing. Apparently, the two guys that Santa dated before me already did this. And her dad said no to both of them. Wait, she just got engaged twice before. Yeah, that's its own thing. Hey, don't be judgey, Alexis, okay?
Starting point is 00:07:50 Some people get asked a lot. Yeah, a hot commodity. Yeah. So your dad said no to her. previous boyfriends that asked? So, yeah, her dad said no to both. And here's the other thing, too. Both of those relationships ended up breaking it up afterwards.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Oh, God. That was the final. Is he just going to say no to everybody, or he truly is like, I want my daughter to get married, but these guys aren't the ones? Yeah, do you know why the dad said no to the other guys? Did that come up? You know, apparently he tests the guys by giving them difficult hypothetical situations and seeing how they respond.
Starting point is 00:08:27 If my daughter was a lamb. How would you take care of her? This guy sounds exhausting. Well, he sounds traditional. As a good father, what you'd want is for your daughter to be happy, even if she's making a mistake. Like, you support the people you love through that mistake. At least one time.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Wow. Okay. I'm not going to five weddings. I'm sorry, but. No wonder you're nervous. Okay. Well, yeah, and like one of these hypothetical questions, he likes to ask. involves bears.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Bears? Like the animal bears? Right, and he's an outdoorsy type of guy. So, you know, I don't know if he wants to make sure we know how to protect his daughter. Okay, well, I'm going to tell you, if it's a black bear, make yourself big. If it's a grizzly, just... Brooke, why are you giving your advice so early here? I mean, we need to save this for part too.
Starting point is 00:09:15 I'm curious what to do about in polar bears, so save that, okay? I think you're S-O-L of polar bears. Yeah, there's the whole saying for it. What do you do? Brown, lie down, black, fight, back. black, white, light. Again, we're blowing all the advice for part two of your call. I want to know what to do with fire.
Starting point is 00:09:32 Yeah. What advice are you looking for from, are you actually looking for bear knowledge? I'm just really nervous to do this by myself. Okay. I try to read up on it, Google, but Brooke, I mean, you probably know some bear backs, right? No, I mean, honest, she's got your back here. Do you not know the actual hypothetical they were given? Because I can't imagine him just going, what's your back?
Starting point is 00:09:54 bear advice. Yeah. That's a good point. I just know he does hypotheticals. Sometimes he throws bears in there. I really don't have a lot to go off. He may switch it up and stuff. This is going to be hard for me.
Starting point is 00:10:07 I can't stand weirdly protective. Dads. Yeah, I think it's so weird. Again, Brooke, this is not a show just about you and what your preferences are. This is about our listeners and what they need from us. I know. I'm just thinking out loud about what kind of advice. Don't do any of those things.
Starting point is 00:10:23 It's all bad thoughts. are coming out right now. Let's think of some good advice. Imagine if we could get her a yes and she can finally get married. Yeah. She'd get married for God. Yeah. Well, yeah, but sounds like this would help. Clearly she values her dad's opinion on the man that
Starting point is 00:10:38 she dates, so we need to come back with something solid to give to Garrett here. I'm excited for Brooks advice. To make sure that his girlfriend's dad doesn't say no when he asks to marry his daughter. We're calling the dad, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:54 We are calling the dad. That's what you're saying, right? Yes. Okay. Okay. I'm kind of nervous to hear him too. He's as intimidating as he actually sounds. He's probably at Bear Camp right now.
Starting point is 00:11:06 We'll find out. We'll have some advice for you, and then we'll call this dad and let you ask him in your awkward Tuesday phone call right after this. All right, thanks, guys. All right, man. Hold on. It's awkward. It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
Starting point is 00:11:23 If you're just joining us, we're either about to witness a really sweet moment between a young man and his future father-in-law. Or a really awkward moment between a father and the boy who's not good enough to marry his daughter. Yikes. I mean, that's what's on the line today because our listener Garrett needs help, calling his girlfriend's dad to get his blessing to propose to her. Which sounds easy until you learn he told me. the last two dudes, no. Yeah, because it sounds like he's more of a traditional old school type of dad
Starting point is 00:11:59 who's denied multiple proposal requests from past boyfriends. And all that Garrett knows is that he likes to ask hypothetical questions, possibly on the topic of bears. You heard there's bears involved sometimes. Apparently, his girlfriend just goes along with whatever
Starting point is 00:12:15 her dad says. It's really important to her. The last two relationships ended after the no. That's why Garrett needs our advice before making the call. So, Brooke, what do you have for him? God, you know, I grew up around a lot of these type of dads. It wasn't my dad, but what I've learned is you need to talk less. You need to listen more.
Starting point is 00:12:36 You need to just tell them great things about themselves. Maybe ask for a good story about their past, you know? Oh, let him. Yeah. Okay. Like his glory days. These type of guys live for that. Hey, do you play football in high school?
Starting point is 00:12:50 Yeah. Thank you. That's a strategy for you there, Garrett. What do you think? Yeah, I can try that. All right. That's a good little nugget there. Jose, what advice do you have?
Starting point is 00:13:01 Well, he's a dad. So what do all dads like? Dad jokes, Brooke. Oh, God. Right? So this is what you do. I'm going to give you one. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I started out by saying, what's the difference between a hippo and a zippo? What? One's really heavy, and the other's a little lighter. Ah. Did you write that down, Garrett? Right? Yeah, I'm not sure he's the joky type of dad. I feel like it's inside of all dads
Starting point is 00:13:25 But okay, here My serious advice then Would be just to show him respect By calling him by his last name I already do that So I'll just keep doing it Oh my God That's how he introduced himself to you
Starting point is 00:13:37 Wild Let's see how this goes If he picks up I'm gonna dial his number right now But you got this Garrett okay All right thanks guys We said you got this man You gotta go in with confidence
Starting point is 00:13:49 They sense fear these type of dads Right That's some energy out of you Don't think of him as your scary father-in-law. This is going to be like your best bud. He's going to have your back for life. I don't know about that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Okay, never mind. The fear is real. Hold on to you. Here you go. I'm going to dial his number. Hello? Yeah. Hello?
Starting point is 00:14:20 Yeah, I'm Mr. Hars. Yeah, who's this? Yeah, this is Garrett, Sienna's boyfriend? Yeah, Garrett, okay, yeah. I know who you are. Just don't call me Mr. H. Just call me Larry. Oh.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Oh, no. Okay. But, I mean, I'm just trying to show respect. It's important. Yeah, that's all fine and well. Call me Mr. Hockrove makes me seem like an old f***. So I don't need that. So just just call me Larry.
Starting point is 00:14:52 How's that? you do that? Oh. All right, sir. Yeah. Okay, buddy. What are you calling me about? So, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:01 Sienna and I have been together for a while now, and, you know, I really, really like your daughter a lot, and I'd really love to kind of take our relationship to the next step. What are you going to do, then? You're going to take her on a trip? Is that the deal? No, no. more like
Starting point is 00:15:22 ask her to marry me oh oh really well and I just wanted to be respectful you know it's important
Starting point is 00:15:33 to get your permission first out of respect so you want to marry my daughter right it would be my honor sir well let me just ask you a question
Starting point is 00:15:49 please do sir I'm ready. All right. Well, let's say that you two get married and my daughter is treated unfairly at work. How do you respond to that? What do you mean? I mean, do you stand by her? Do you confront her boss?
Starting point is 00:16:12 You know, do you encourage her to give a new job? What's your move, dude? sir with all due respect um where's the bear what what bear what bear well sheena just said the two guys before me who you know asked your permission to marry her both of them fail my question about bears um look i'm pretty sure she should screwing with you. What? Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:16:49 What are you talking about? The first guy who asked me, I said no, because he was a damn mouth breeder. Oh. And the second one, he was one of them pony boys. Huh?
Starting point is 00:17:04 Wait, what? Well, you know, those grown men like to dress up and horse out kit, like the kids cartoons. Yeah, and he kept wanting me to call him apple jack
Starting point is 00:17:19 that is a fire name though that's an actual my little pony yeah it's already taken oh my god hello sir well what's going on what's going on here yeah mr hars
Starting point is 00:17:35 sir you're on the radio right now with a show we're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning and man can your daughter pick him would you like to explain what the hell's going on here Yes, yeah. So I ended up just trying to get some advice here because I thought you were going to ask about bears and I wanted to be able to answer your question.
Starting point is 00:18:03 So this was the most logical choice for me to give these guys a call and ask their advice. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. He was really nervous about asking your permission to, not your permission, but for your blessing. to marry his daughter because he's heard it hasn't gone well in the past. And it matters to him because he knows that it matters to your daughter, which is sweet. She means a lot to him.
Starting point is 00:18:25 You know, Garrett, look, just tell me this. You're not going to be a problem for me, are you now? Oh. What is that mean? No, sir. No, sir. Not at all. What would be a problem for you?
Starting point is 00:18:37 You don't dress up in horse outfits now, do you, Garrett? No, I don't. Okay, there you go. Any other animals? We might as well check this box off. I got to say, that could have been a good guy that she missed out on. I mean, he sounds like he was a sensitive one. That's true.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Larry doesn't approve of that. But what do you think about Garrett as a potential future son-in-law to you? Well, he's a good kid. You can tell he's a little skittish. Yeah, of course. I mean, I'm very, but. The potential is there. He's very respectful and all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I appreciate that. And I don't mean to make fun of him, but. because it's easy. I can't believe. We appreciate that. Garrett, you can definitely ask her. Quite honestly, you're the only normal one she's ever brought around. That's the bar.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Even though you never answered your question? No, I do have a question for him. So just tell me this first. If you come home from work and there's a bear in the house, what are you going to do? Is that the question? I think if it's brown, you lie down. Or maybe don't go into the house to begin with, Gary. Why is there a bear in the house?
Starting point is 00:19:56 You live in bear country? I don't understand. No, I'm just with you. Oh, God. Between you and your daughter, you're going to tear Garrett apart. Yeah, you're wrong. He does have a good sense of humor. Yeah, I bet the dad joke would have worked, bro.
Starting point is 00:20:11 What dad joke? I'm on here. Garrett, do you remember the joke? Oh, what is it? What's the difference between a hippo and a zippo? One's a little lighter, I got it. No, you're supposed to stop. Nailed it, Gary.
Starting point is 00:20:26 You're going to be a great husband one day, Jared. Hey, Barry's laughing, I guess. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hi, my name is Enya Emanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD...
Starting point is 00:20:51 Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psycho babble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this. Attention passengers.
Starting point is 00:21:10 The pilot is having... an emergency, and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane. Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying like, okay, pull this, until this. Pull that. Turn this.
Starting point is 00:21:28 It's just, I can do it my eyes close. I'm Mani. I'm Noah. This is Devon. And on our new show, no such thing. We get to the bottom of questions like these. Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence. Those who lack expertise
Starting point is 00:21:43 lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack expertise and then as we try the whole thing out for real. Wait, what? Oh, that's the run right. I'm looking at this thing. Listen to no such thing on the Iheart radio app,
Starting point is 00:21:59 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know, that was actually kind of heartwarming in the end. It was actually really cute. Wait better than I expected. Larry was rad. He was. And apparently his daughter is, too, if she was trolling him with that bear information the entire time.
Starting point is 00:22:16 That's pretty funny. That was hilarious. And I hope that he keeps us updated on what happens when he does pop the question. I'm guessing she'll say yes. I feel like he's going to be so scared it's going to be in another three years. Yeah. He definitely has a lot of nerves in there. But I just hope that Brooke, whenever your daughter is old enough, that she comes to us for the awkward Tuesday phone call for anything in her life.
Starting point is 00:22:39 So that she can ask for the blessing of the family? No, just any problems that she's facing. Like if she wants to know how to tell your mom politely, she shouldn't dance anymore at parties. She should feel free to come to us with that question. She already tells me that not politely, Jeff. Yeah. Or maybe she'll figure out a better way.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Or how to ask your mom, how do I find my real father without hurting mom's feelings? We may know. Yeah. We have a whole network of people listening. I guess she looks nothing like her dad. No. I'm just, to all the children out there listening who are growing into young adults about to face life's problems, we are here for you when the time comes. Did you crash your parents' car and don't know how to tell them? Yeah. Awkward Tuesday. Whatever it is. I feel like we got like a three-way Larry on some of these.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Use his wisdom. But the first step to any successful life is hitting subscribe on Brooke and Jeffrey. So if you haven't done it, smash that subscribe button.
