I know it's crazy. What are the odds of that? Wait, you aren't supposed to be babysitting my kids? Apparently, one of our listeners had a crazy coincidence happen to him recently, so crazy that he needs our help, taking the next step. Ooh, I love this. What's the story? His name is Sean.

Sean, welcome to the show. Hi, everybody. Good to be here. Are you calling from a bus tour as we speak? Okay. And the joke landed just a little late. That really tickled him, though. In all the right places.

Sean. You're not going to get that, apparently. Sean, tell us about your situation. What was the crazy coincidence that happened to you? Okay. So I've been single for a while. Okay. And the other night, one of my friends finally got me to go out to a speed dating event.

Oh, okay. Do you guys know how these things work? Oh, yeah. I've hosted them before. Yeah, I've done them for the show before. I mean, it's timed, right? So you have a couple of minutes with each person, and it's usually the men that have to change tables. And then you, like, write down what number you like the best at the end of the night.

Yeah. Brooke just did one last night. Yeah. Very accurate. When you host him, you have to explain. That's true. Yeah. I forgot.

Uh-huh. Okay. So, yes, I think we're aware of how they work. What happened? So, I mean, I see a lot of good people have a good conversation, but the third person, I recognize them. Oh, really? The third woman that you met with? What do you know her from?

She is my ex-wife. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. That is not. Small world. Not even girlfriend.

Oh my gosh. Are you like, can I skip table three? Oh, how was that interaction? Oh. Well, if it was a normal interaction, I wouldn't be calling. I would I? Yeah. Okay.

Are you guys friendly or not? It was amicable. Okay. Things just didn't end up working out. It didn't end ugly. No kids. It was a pretty clean break. Okay.

That's good. That's good. How long were you together? We were only married about a year. And it was a long time ago. We just got married a little too young. Ah, I see. Yeah.

Hadn't found yourself yet. Yeah. Okay. Got it. So did you interact with her? What do you do at the speed dating event with your ex-wife? Well, I mean, we talked, and I thought it went well. And I'm very surprised by that.

Okay. Like, well and, like, maybe you could be friends. or like, well, and what are you doing with? Chemistry, well. Well, I realized that out of everybody there, I still had the most chemistry with her. Well, to be fair, you did have like a year of connection with her before that, so she did have a slight advantage over all the other women.

A whole wedding together with all your loved ones. It's like, what you're saying, it's probably good that he didn't have more of a connection with a stranger. Yeah. She's like, I like rom-coms. He's like, me too. What? Oh, my God. You already click with it.

But sometimes that works out. I know people who got divorced and then remarried later and ended up staying together forever. Yeah. So it's not impossible. So where's your head at? Well, the breakup was eight years ago. A lot of time has passed. We are different people than we were before.

And I want to give it another go. Oh. You do. How do you ask out your wife? Cute. Wait. I need to know what kind of signs were you getting through? from her that she'd be open

to this. I mean, it's hard to tell. We didn't have much time together, maybe three minutes. Yeah, that's the speed part. There's a lot of smiles. We laughed a lot. It was a good time. I mean... Okay, then. What's the worst? What's the worst that can happen? You know, asking your ex-wife out.

It ended about eight years ago. But they were young.

They say they got married a little bit too early. Well, he says that. That's what he says. We don't know her reason yet. Exactly. Good point. But after he saw her the other night, he's been thinking about her a lot, wondering if maybe they should try going out again. Could it possibly be better than the first time?

Well, and they met at a speed dating event, so she's definitely open to dating right now and single. Right. Hey, that's smart. I didn't think of that. But is she open to dating her ex-husband? How does he even pose that question to her without sounding like a total lunatic? that's where our advice comes in. So Jose, what have you got for him?

If you want to see if there's still something between you and your ex, you just need to get her in the right mindset. Bring up your favorite memory of you two being happy together. And that's going to get her in that headspace of the good times. Okay.
