Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, I'm Radhi Dvlukaya, and I am the host of a really good cry podcast. This week, I am joined by Anna Runkle, also known as the crappy childhood fairy, a creator, teacher, and guide helping people heal from the lasting emotional wounds of unsafe or chaotic childhoods. But talking about trauma isn't always great for people. It's not always the best thing. About a third of people who are traumatized as kids feel worse when they talk about it. Get very dysregulated. Listen to a really good cry on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, I'm Dr. Priyanko Wally. And I'm Hurricane DeBolu. On our new podcast Health Stuff, we demystify your burning health questions. You'll hear us being completely honest about our own health. My residency colon was like a cry for help, honestly.
Starting point is 00:00:45 And you'll hear candid advice and personal stories from experts who want to make health care more human. I feel like I never felt like I truly belonged in medicine. We want to make health less confusing and maybe even a little fun. Find health stuff on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If one of us wins, we all win. I'm Ashley Rayfeld, the host of the podcast. Good luck with that. Good luck with that is a skateboarding podcast about the past, present, and future of women and gender expansive skateboarding. In our show, we'll talk with skaters like Bobby Delphino on pushing style, culture, and the conversation forward.
Starting point is 00:01:24 You break down the door, sick now like hold the door for everyone. I believe in that solely. So listen to good luck with that on IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Talking about guns with others might not always feel comfortable, but it could save a life. Here's a way to start a conversation. Your family is going over to your neighbor's home for dinner
Starting point is 00:01:44 for the first time. How would you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home? Hey! Hey, we're so excited for tonight. Before we come over, though, may I ask if there are any unlocked guns in your home? Our guns are stored securely, locked in a safe, that the kids can't access.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Awesome. Learn how to have the conversation at Agreetoagree.org. Brought to you by the Ad Council. She said, Johnny. The kids didn't come home last night. Along the central Texas plains, teens are dying.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Suicides that don't make sense. Strange accidents. And brutal murders. In what seems to be, a plot ripped straight out of Breaking Bad. Drugs, alcohol, All trafficking of people. There are people out there that absolutely know what happened.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Listen to Paper Ghosts, the Texas Teen Murders, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You ever tried to play a joke on a friend or a coworker that immediately backfired? I bet. I can't think of it now, but I'm sure that's happened. Like when Brooke tried to trick me into eating an impossible burger and handed me an old Tupperweight. filled with salad and then a whole burger patty on top of it with some corn sprinkled on the top. Plus, she held her phone directly in front of her while giving it to me. But just terrible zero finesse on that.
Starting point is 00:03:11 My problem with pranks is I'm not a good liar. That's my problem. It's like laughing. You should eat his jam. See, it doesn't mean that she's a bad person. She's just a bad prankster. Okay. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:03:24 And that's exactly what happened to one of our listeners. recently, who was trying to prank her boyfriend for a TikTok video and like Brooke, she failed miserably. But this woman failed so badly that now her relationship could get super messy if we don't
Starting point is 00:03:40 jump in and help. Yeah, see, we're still good. We can't sprinkle corn on top of it, Brooke, and call it okay. You're going to hear what happened in your brand new awkward Tuesday phone call right after this. Try it someday. I like it. It's awkward.
Starting point is 00:03:56 It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call. The cutest couples out there, and Brooke would agree with me on this, are the ones who openly lie and prank each other for laughs. Oh, actually, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Not to spoil it, but Brooke is planning to fake her own death at Thanksgiving this year. Just to make her husband cry, and then while he's sobbing on the floor,
Starting point is 00:04:22 she's going to pop out of the turkey and say, you idiot, you're stuck with me. And then he's going to cry harder. Yeah. Oh, the laughs keep on coming at the Fox Family Thanksgiving. That's my video's going viral. It's a fun time. It's true love. And nobody understands that sentiment more than our listener, Sophia, who's a prankster just like Brooke.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Oh, man, Sophia, are you dead too? Sophia, welcome to the show. Are you dead to? How are you? Hey. Okay. Yeah, are you doing okay? You sound like you're almost cry laughing.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Because that fake your own death is like, that's genius. Oh, she likes the idea. I actually wouldn't recommend that, Sophia. Yeah, that was just a joke I was making. She's not really going to do that. But clearly, something's going on with you and your, is it your husband or your boyfriend? Yeah, it's my boyfriend and I might have to fake my own death after this one. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:05:21 What's an idea, Jeff? Wait. What's your boyfriend's? name, by the way. Corey. How long have you guys been together? Like a little over a year. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:31 It's new. Newish. And what's going on? So, like, I totally screwed up. Like, I felt so bad because I ordered a gag gift to prank him and it was a fake positive pregnancy test.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Oh, girl. Oh, my God. Dude, the death scare would have been better than that. Yeah. Wait, are you guys trying to have a baby or anything? No, but I mean, like, we aren't. like using protection or anything.
Starting point is 00:05:57 So, I mean, like, if it just happens, it happens. Oh, girl. I thought Broca's going to cheer afterwards. I think if it happens, oh, I don't know. After only a year, there's a lot of, who. That's a censor subject. What was your idea when you ordered this prank gift? So what I was thinking was that I was going to pull the test out,
Starting point is 00:06:16 film him for TikTok, and let him see the results and everything, and then come back and film him and telling him that it was just a prank. Okay. Social media. So did you think his reaction would be negative then to seeing that you're pregnant? That's what I'm curious. I actually thought it would be funny.
Starting point is 00:06:32 I thought that he would just be surprised and he knows I'm a prankster. So I thought he would, you know, it would just go with it and it would just be great. It could be really wholesome. Like he could have cried and been like, oh my God. I mean, you know, like a fake lottery ticket may have been funnier. Yeah, those are kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:06:49 It sounds like we're already down this road. You've already done it? So I bought the test. I put it in the drawer because I was going to film him later I went to work and I got a text from him Oh no
Starting point is 00:07:03 And he asked me like So what's going on? How are you feeling? And I'm like, I'm well and everything He sent me a picture I look at it, it's the test Oh no So now that you're not filming
Starting point is 00:07:16 And grossly you would just put a pea stick In a drawer like that Yeah What did you say? Yeah Well, for myself, I was like kicking myself in the pants. I'm like, Sophia, you idiot. Why did you put it there?
Starting point is 00:07:29 Oh, my God. I've ruined my friend. She's like, I lost the moment. I'm not going to go viral. Oh, no. But I just rolled with it. And I was like, surprise. I was going to tell you when I got home.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Oh, my God. Why did you do that? I didn't know what to do. I just panicked. I mean, he ruined it. I don't know. Were you still trying to, like, prank him later? Is that the thought?
Starting point is 00:07:53 Well, that's what I figured. I said, okay, what I'll do is that when I get home, I'll just tell him that, you know, surprise. I was just joking. He was rolled with the whole thing then. But when I got home, his sister was there. Oh, my family's going to know. So he's told everyone now that you guys are going to have a baby?
Starting point is 00:08:12 He didn't tell everyone he told her. And when I walked in the door, it was like, surprise. Oh, my God, congratulations. Oh, I think she was excited. Oh, yeah. Oh, did you feel so bad? Or did you tell her that it was a prank right there and be like, huh, this is going to be viral?
Starting point is 00:08:28 It was just like, thank you. Oh, no. Yeah, but now he wants to invite our parents over. He wants to have her dinner. Wait, you haven't told him that it isn't a prank yet? Oh, not yet. Oh, what? Yeah, it's getting out of hand, and I don't know what to do,
Starting point is 00:08:46 and I need your help. Did I miss how long it's been? How many days has he known? Well, now it's been about three days. Oh, my God. Now he's that time to process. That means you guys have had so many conversations. Have you talked about baby names probably already?
Starting point is 00:09:01 He's probably thinking, is it a boy? Is it a girl? Are you faking morning sickness every day when you wake up? No, I'm faking fatigue. Like, I'm just, every time he tries to talk about it, I'm really sleepy. But I need to break it to him, but I don't want him to get upset. So I just need a fun way to fix. I need someone help me figure out a fun way to tell him.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Like, you need our help making sure he doesn't dump you. I mean, this is a dumpable offense. This could be a win-win. It is. Is there any way that you guys can say that you came up with this? What? Hey, actually, that's not a bad idea. Not all of us.
Starting point is 00:09:34 I was going to give the- Okay, we'll say that Jose. Just Jose was behind the whole thing. I was playing an elaborate phone tap, and I lost your phone number and forgot to call you. That actually seems plausible. That's one of the ideas we might have for you. We're going to come back and give you more advice. then let you make your awkward Tuesday phone call to your boyfriend
Starting point is 00:09:52 to let him know that the positive pregnancy test that he found isn't real. It's a joke, ha-ha. I don't know that anyone's going to laugh. It's your job to think of some really funny advice when we come back right after this. Hold on. It's awkward. It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
Starting point is 00:10:13 We're dealing with a very common relationship problem. Are we? I mean, who hasn't faked a pregnancy? I'm going to go with not very many people, Jeff. It's normally a scare, not like a planned prank. On this show, at least five people have faked one. And there's only four hosts in here. Did you fake all of them, Jeff?
Starting point is 00:10:34 Because it's not very believable if you were pregnant. That's not for me to say. One of our listeners did try to prank her boyfriend recently with a fake positive pregnancy test. And shockingly, it didn't go well. She was hoping to film it for TikTok to get some laughs. And Brooke, it did go very well. So well and still thinks He totally believed it
Starting point is 00:10:54 because he found it before she had the chance to bring it out. He ended up telling his sister about it and now it's been three days. She still hasn't revealed the truth to him yet that she's not really pregnant. They want to plan a family get together to announce the new
Starting point is 00:11:11 baby that's coming. But the good news is they're excited about it. It'd be much worse if everybody was sad. But that's why she's come to us for help. The ultimate pranksters. Yeah. Follow us at Brooke and Jeffrey for more pranks just like this, but probably not nearly as funny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:26 We need to get to some advice, though. Jose, what do you think that Sophia should do here? Well, there's a chance that once you let him know the truth that you're going to lose his trust. So, yeah. I think you remind him that you're trustworthy with like a funny anecdote. Like remind him, hey, remember when I babysat your goldfish when we first were dating for a week and the goldfish was fine? you can trust me when does she tell him that it's a joke
Starting point is 00:11:50 and then she goes well you can't trust me but in this case boom you can't you are not the father okay and then everyone laughs and it's gonna be fine you're doing Moripovich moment yeah we could I didn't think of that yeah what do you think Sophia
Starting point is 00:12:03 set him up and then blindside him no I don't think that that's gonna work okay straight up no Brooke seems to think she has some better advice for you I'm here to save your relationship and what you need to do is you need to make yourself look like a hero and say that your friend had a terrible idea to prank
Starting point is 00:12:20 her boyfriend. You stepped in and took the pregnancy test for him so that it wouldn't go down. Right? And then you just panicked when he accidentally found it. That's actually really good. Do you see what he's saying? I kind of agree. So why did it take three
Starting point is 00:12:36 days for her to come forward with that? The panic. Jeffrey, it's the panic. Okay. I don't know. It's all I got, Jeffrey. Sophia? It does sound better than him, but I'm still lying. You know, my advice, and I never, ever say this during these calls, is to keep it short and stick to the truth. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Yeah. That one sounds part of the best, but maybe, like, saying, I don't know, like, I was a joke. I do think that's important to say it was a prank or your intentions were prank. My hosts are very, very on the train of lying to their significant others, so that's going to be, thing? It works sometimes. Yeah, seriously. Honestly, it's not funny.
Starting point is 00:13:20 None of this is funny. If you think, oh, God. Okay, let's just do it. Let's just do it. Let's just do it. All right. And let's see where it goes. Okay, please.
Starting point is 00:13:28 We're going to jump in when we feel like we need a little help. But here we go. Let's make your awkward call. Hello? Hi. Hey, babe. How's it going? It's so weird.
Starting point is 00:13:46 It didn't show up. your name. Yeah, um, I don't know. Um, how is your day going? It's been good. I mean, how about yours? Um, it's, it's going. It's okay. So what are you doing? Like, well, so I just go ahead and dropped off my car. I'm picking up another one, you know. Okay. Um, I do need to talk to you about something. Is this a good time? Yeah. You, you, I mean, it sounds you're a little bit sick is everything okay you got me a little bit worried i feel guilty like i really messed up and i just have to tell you something and i don't know how like you'll react and i don't know what you're saying i really don't want you to be mad and i'm uh i don't know what just
Starting point is 00:14:31 what do you mean ben i mean it's okay just tell me it's can't be that big of a deal i mean um i mean i don't know how to say like i'm really sorry and like i'm i just don't i don't want you to be upset with me because I really love you and it wasn't intentional and I'm so sorry and I don't want to ruin anything. I think I'm kind of what you're talking about. What? What are you saying? Well, I mean, I'm sorry. I just, I was, I was leaving and I was in a rush and I just kind of threw it in there. and I didn't do a good enough job hiding it. Wait, what, hiding me? What are you saying?
Starting point is 00:15:25 I don't, I don't understand. I mean, I know it's probably not the way you envisioned it, but that's my fault and I'm sorry. You have nothing to be sorry about. It's all me, but maybe you can just, can you just tell me a little bit more? Well I mean
Starting point is 00:15:47 You found The ring, right? What? What? Oh my guy Did he say ring? Wait Yeah
Starting point is 00:15:58 This got complicated Oh Hey we I mean like we Hold on What's going on Yeah Corey But before anything else has said
Starting point is 00:16:07 I need to tell you that You're on the radio right now With the show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning We haven't even gotten to what we were supposed to to do. Wait, wait, are you gonna propose to me?
Starting point is 00:16:19 No. Well, you found the ring and that's what you called me about, right? Oh, God. Be honest, Sophia. Oh, Brooke, now you're ready to be honest.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Yes! Oh, here we go. Yes, he has to know. He's making one decision based on it. You said the truth was the worst thing could possibly happen
Starting point is 00:16:37 during this call. It's the only thing. No, it has to happen now. What is going on? Who are, they said they're on the radio, Why were we on the radio? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:47 Oh, my God. Because I wanted to tell you something, but, like. Oh, no, no. But you're going to propose and like, I'm just, yes, yes, yes, yes. No? No, hold on, hold on. You can't say yes. You're getting married.
Starting point is 00:17:03 No, no. She'll be excited. Oh, my God. Stop my dad. Wait, you called the radio to tell me that you found the ring, and you felt guilty about finding it? Uh-uh. Yes, 1,000. This time is yes.
Starting point is 00:17:16 No. No, no, no. No. Stop it. We brought them together. You have to tell him, Sophia. She did. She did.
Starting point is 00:17:24 That she found the ring. And she feels really bad about it because he knew there was going to be a big surprise. This isn't funny. It's not supposed to be funny. It's happy that we're bringing a couple together. Happy for people. Oh, no. I'm not happy at all.
Starting point is 00:17:38 You don't love love? I don't love this love. That sounds pretty nice to me. Oh, my God. I'm so. Sorry, I ruined the surprise by putting it out there like a bonehead, but I love you. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:17:52 It's poor, man. It's all right, Corey. He's not poor. He just bought a ring. Oh, my God. I love you too. I'm so happy. You know, there's something else, but I'll just tell you later. Like, yeah. That's a good idea. No. Yeah. I mean, probably he'll find out in nine months. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Tell him after the wedding or whatever that's going to be. I hope earlier than nine months, Alexis. You're having my baby And you deserve the husband of a lifetime I can't Oh That hurts I've never felt this way on the show
Starting point is 00:18:25 It's very cute But you guys are not gonna be together in three weeks That's my prediction Don't put that on them Wait what do you mean She's talking about Jose and me Corey That's what it is We're having a spat
Starting point is 00:18:38 I feel like they need to have a conversation Off the air No you really do Yeah, they have their entire rest of their lives, to have any conversation that they want to have. But we are happy for what we've learned today. We are not. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:18:52 This would actually go on viral. Oh, wait, never mind. Yeah, no. Don't talk about that. It could go viral when we post it later on the Brooke and Jeffrey podcast. Yeah, we'll listen wherever you are. Where we discuss baby names later, yes. So we're just not going to, we're not going to talk about it.
Starting point is 00:19:09 I don't even know what you're talking about anymore. Sophia, you do. You do. He's such a liar. Brooke, don't call this one of the liar? Keep us posted, guys. Don't. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
