And we got a brand new awkward Tuesday phone call for you. That episode's about to start. But we need to touch base on the alpha tests that went down yesterday in the second date update where a woman locked him in a closet. Yep, yeah, basically.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Uh-huh. To see if he could get out. To prove that he was a man? I guess alpha, yeah. And people had feelings on the comment. We got a lot of, well, that was rough on the ears. What did I just listen to? I haven't even finished yet, and I already am thinking she's a psycho.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Crazy lady, she needs help, dodged a bullet, red flag the size of a building. You get the point. Oh, I see. I see. You still a lot of fans of hers. Is that what you're saying? People wanting to date her for sure. Do you guys think she's going to hear this and go, okay, I will go get there.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Yeah, yeah. You know, there's going to be one man that's able to pick a lock that's going to seal her heart and it's all going to work out. And it's going to be perfect for them. Exactly. I like that. There's somebody for everybody out there. All right, we're going to get into it. Here's your brand new Awkward Tuesday episode.
Starting point is 00:03:45 It starts right now. I'm going to tell you two shocking things. Okay. First, one of our listeners actually got into a serious relationship with a woman he met on Tinder. Oh, that's the shocking part. I know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Crazy. The second shocking thing is what he said today during his phone call with her. He didn't give us a heads up on. In fact, he didn't tell us on purpose, and it blindsided the entire room. Yeah, what the heck, man? You're about to hear it and be just as shocked as we were. But still on his side somehow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:22 I mean, truly. In an awkward Tuesday phone call for the ages coming up. Next. It's awkward. It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call. When you're in a relationship, you can just tell when something is off. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:39 That's true. Without even saying words, you just feel it in your gut. Oh, yeah. Like, Brooke, give me a personal example. It could be something from your husband or from your library of past partners that you've been with. What was an unspoken sign that something wasn't right? How could I tell you about something? something that's unspoken.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Because you're guilty. Tell someone was cheating on you before you found out? I found out like after I broke up with people that maybe they cheated, but never during. I don't know that I'm very aware in a relationship now that you bring it up. Jeffrey, I don't know if I am
Starting point is 00:05:12 in, I don't have my finger on the pulse. What about when Michael was wearing your perfume for two straight weeks? That was kind of a weird thing that was off. I don't know. Somebody in the relationship has to smell good. Yeah, I guess so. And if it's him, that I'm okay with it. I feel like her husband could have a whole separate family, and Brooke wouldn't know.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Yeah, maybe. I'd be happy. The thing is, you just know that feeling when it's not right, and it's a feeling our listener, Andrew, is familiar with all too well. Not the perfume part, just the thing's not feeling right. Got it. She's also wearing Brooke's perfume? Possibly, but he wants to do something about it, so we reached out. Hey, Andrew, welcome to the show, ma'am.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Hey, how's it going? Hey. Good. How are you doing is the question, Andrew. I am very anxious. Anxious. Okay. According to your email, there's something off in your relationship.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Tell us about what's going on. Sure. I've been dating this girl, Charlotte, for a few months. Okay. I've been on Tinder. Okay. And is this something where you're really excited about this new relationship? I am.
Starting point is 00:06:17 I mean, at first, it was really, really awesome. I were seeing each other all the time, like weekends, nights. She didn't call me in the middle of the day. I'm like everything. Like, when it's all exciting and new. You're like, what? Someone cares about me. It's like, what the heck?
Starting point is 00:06:30 Okay, it sounds like that's not something that you're used to. Have you not had a lot of relationships before? I've had a relationship, but nothing really like this. I mean, like, I quickly started falling for her. Oh, that's cute. Oh, wow. You can tell when you start to like someone when anything happens during the day and you want to tell them.
Starting point is 00:06:46 You know what I mean? Little things, big things. That sounds like what she was doing to you. Yeah, no. I mean, she's fun. She's spontaneous. I mean, she is not like any other woman I've met on Tinder Oh, that's a big, I mean...
Starting point is 00:06:58 Not in the world, just Tinder. Just Tinder. I've met plenty of her, like, on Bumble and on OKCupid, but Tinder, she's a first. Good point, Alexis. I stopped listening to the end. Thanks, Alexis. Okay. So, like, what's changed?
Starting point is 00:07:13 Like, started about, like, three weeks ago, she just started to hang out with me less than we were doing. Okay. Energy shit. Is there, like, do you know of a reason, like, more work, or... I honestly don't know. No, I mean, like, she says she wants to see me, and then, I mean, like, we'll go out of town for a quick weekend, but then all of a sudden, like, the next week, I'll hear, like, nothing from her, like, no communication. So, like, a week of a lot, and then a week of nothing. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Well. A week of no talking at all. Weird. In her defense, you do sound like a pretty big personality, and she might need a break from you for a full week after spending a whole weekend together. I don't know if he's going to pick up on your sarcasm on that one. Well, I wasn't being sarcastic. I mean, that's big. Oh.
Starting point is 00:07:54 His personality. Yeah. Overwhelming. It's, yeah. It's booming through the speakers into my ears. Hey, hey, hey, Jeff's trying to talk. Sorry, Jeff, keep going. His personality is.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Sorry, Andrew, did you want to say anything to that? No, you're right. I do have a big personality. Yeah, I can tell. See, there you go. I mean, it could be, like, I feel like once you're really comfortable in a relationship, you don't necessarily have to speak all the time.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Yeah. Like, maybe she's more of an introvert than you realized. Oh, yeah. Is that possible? I mean, she keeps saying that she wants to see me and that she's just busy more and more. And, I mean, I don't know if that's actually true or if she's making up. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:31 So you're getting the feeling that Jeff was talking about in the beginning that something's up. Yeah, no, it just feels like that she's like pulling away, closing off to me more and more. And I mean, I don't want to be strung along if something else is going on that isn't me. Okay. Oh, wait. Did you say isn't you like, as in you think she could be cheating? It's possible. I mean, who knows with everybody on all these apps now?
Starting point is 00:08:53 Are you guys exclusive? Yeah, that's what I want to say. say, is that your girlfriend? We've talked about being exclusive, but really, like, her actions like all this pulling away. It's definitely speaking different because, I mean, she can't pull a couple dates on me in the last week. That's exhausting. Because you sound like you're 100% committed to her and she's not giving that back to you. So what? Any more, right? It changed. There's a change. And maybe something caused that. So, like, what is it that made you email the show for help? Like, what do you want to get out of this awkward Tuesday phone call? I mean, I really just, I want to know
Starting point is 00:09:24 100% of is she in or out because really like, as I said, I have fallen for her. My heart cannot take this. Oh, no. Sweet man. What about your other body parts? Can they take it? My right leg maybe my left is having issue. Okay. That's a good joke.
Starting point is 00:09:43 That was. That was solid. And she deserves to love 100% of you. Yeah. And you deserve to know the truth. So let's come back. We'll give you a little bit of advice before we let you make your awkward Tuesday phone call to your maybe girlfriend, Charlotte. No, still girlfriend right now, Jeff. There's no maybe.
Starting point is 00:10:00 What title would you give her? I mean, right now, I was thinking, girlfriend, but I want to know. Okay. It's like a situation. Girlfriend. Okay, girlfriend. We're going to call this lady and find out what she's in on. I don't think she knows she's a girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yeah. Yeah, we'll see where her heads at when we do your awkward Tuesday phone call right after this. It's awkward. It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call. It's not really an ultimatum, but it kind of is. When you ask the person you've been dating for a while, are you 100% in on me or am I wasting my time here?
Starting point is 00:10:36 Yikes. Brooke, have you asked your husband that yet? After the wedding? We went over that before the wedding. Oh, that's smart. Because that's exactly what made Andrew reach out to us today. Since the woman he's been seeing for months, Charlotte, is telling him all the right things. She's saying she likes him.
Starting point is 00:10:52 She wants to see him, but her actions are not matching those words. Yeah, they're all over the place. Andrew's heart just can't take it anymore, so he needs to know, are you actually in on me or do I need to move on? And how do you even approach that type of conversation? We need a strategy here, Brooks. So please help give Andrew a strategy. Okay, well, the way you worded it was kind of cringed, just so you know. Yeah, Andrew, why did you word it that way?
Starting point is 00:11:19 Yeah, it comes off a little thirsty, a little desperate, okay? Firsty boy. Instead, Andrew, I have an idea. You say, gosh, I am just loving a relationship. I think everything's going so well. And I am about to book tickets home for the holidays. I'd love to book you one too. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:11:39 It's like kind of holding her feet to the fire. Because suddenly there's a reason why she either needs to come clean and tell you, ah, too much. I can't do that. Or she's like, that sounds amazing. and you know she's 100% in. Okay, you're trying to smoke her out so that she has no choice but to come out and tell the real reason
Starting point is 00:11:59 she doesn't want to see you. Thanks for picking up on my fire analogy. Smoke and feet and flames. You've got it, Jeff. That's good. That's good. No, I like that one. Okay. Andrew likes that, Jose.
Starting point is 00:12:08 What's your advice for him? Dude, just ask her to move in with you. Whoa. Oh. I'm not like not saying you're really going to ask her. You're not going to mean it, I mean. But you ask the question that way if she's hiding anything,
Starting point is 00:12:22 she will spill the tea. So if she says yes to moving in, then what? Then you know everything is great, but then you're kind of committed, I think. Yeah. I didn't think that's the problem. He's 100% in on her, so maybe it's good for you, Andrew. If she said yes to moving in, are you willing? That might be too much, but I do like the holiday idea.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Okay. All right. Maybe I think the same now. Jose has taken back his advice. I think quicker than Brooke does. Jump right to marriage. Not thinking through things. But, yeah, that too.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Playing on her saying no. Really. I think the goal of both was the same, though. Put a little bit of pressure on her in order to force her to open up and tell you the truth. If something's on her mind, she should tell you. Gotcha. Okay. I'm a little nervous about this.
Starting point is 00:13:07 This is a big moment for me. Oh, that's understandable. Okay. And you care about her. You made Brooke yawn with that comment. I'm trying to do it quietly. I haven't had enough coffee today. We work early mornings, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:13:18 We're invested in this. It was because I'm not interested in his lack of oxygen. Yeah, we know. It was all cringed to you, Brooke. So here we go. I'm going to dial Charlotte. We'll see if she picks up. Hello?
Starting point is 00:13:36 Hey, babe. How's it going? Oh. Hey. Andrew. Yeah? Yeah, this is Andrew. I mean, this is my voice.
Starting point is 00:13:48 And I don't really know what's going on. You sound nervous. I don't know. It's kind of weird. Yeah, a little nervous. I mean, like, I'm thinking about us. You've been thinking about us? I mean, yeah, of course. I've just been so busy. I'm so sorry. I've been, you know, M.I. Right. Yeah, no. I mean, I get that. I mean. What are you up to right now? What are you busy with? Why? You want to hang out? I can do that. I'm busy right now, actually, I'm at work, but, I mean, we could probably try to hang out in, like, a couple of days or something.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Yeah, no, you've been saying it a lot lately. Oh, I know. Work's been so crazy. You know how this time of year, you know, like the holidays are about to come around. It's just kind of nuts. And, I mean, I'm just trying to fit everything in, you know. But I promise I'll let you know when I've got some time, I promise. funny that you should mention holidays actually
Starting point is 00:14:54 I'm booking tickets to go visit my family and whatnot and I'd love to book you a ticket to come with me oh my gosh let's see I'm still trying to figure out all of the stuff with my family and all the dates and stuff
Starting point is 00:15:15 my parents are terrible about like telling me dates and things so let me kind of get with them first and then I'll let you know kind of what my life is looking like. Yeah, I kind of got to need to know pretty quickly because stuff's on sale and it's easy to get. Well, I mean, I can't. I don't know anything yet. So I definitely can't tell you anything concrete.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Cheryl, am I a priority to you? Well, yeah. I mean, I don't, this is the first time we've even talked about holidays. Like, you've got to give me a second to figure it out. I haven't even talked to my family. This isn't really about holidays, but, like, all the time I'm trying to get more time with you and just keep getting nose these days. Well, I'm sorry. I know I've been all over the place, but it's just not a good time.
Starting point is 00:16:10 It's logistics and schedules. I don't know what else to tell you. I will try. All right. I mean, I want to know, is this really like, are you actually too busy or is this because you're married? What? Married. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:16:23 I know all about it. I know you're married. What is going on here? Are we... What do you mean you know? I know you're married. I talked to your husband. He found me.
Starting point is 00:16:34 What? What is going on? Andrew, why wouldn't you tell us that? Who is there? Holy crap. Yeah, to answer Charlotte, hi, you're on the radio. You're on the radio right now. Radio?
Starting point is 00:16:51 Yeah, we're a show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Andrew, why am I on the radio? Because I'm being made the bad guy, and I wanted everybody to know that it is not me. It is you. Oh, you are. That's weird. It's where it does, and they're outing her as a cheater. This whole thing was a setup?
Starting point is 00:17:07 What? Who thought you were the bad guy? Yeah. Her husband. He found me. He called me up and started ripping me apart. I was like, I did not do this. She's married and I had no idea.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Oh my god You didn't know she was married You didn't know you were a side piece Andrew She was on Tinder I didn't know Charlotte Did you know you were married
Starting point is 00:17:31 You know what You don't know me You don't know my marriage And you don't know this situation I was This is not okay Andrew Oh is it Oh don't turn it like that
Starting point is 00:17:43 Don't turn it like that It's obviously not an open relationship If the husband is chasing down your side piece and yelling at him you're lying to two different people now and messing with both of their hearts that's messed up plus i feel like andrew just ruined his chances to have charlotte come back home and meet his family there's no way ever move in with him you know what i'm done i'm done i'm not the joke of your like
Starting point is 00:18:07 day today so you know what i'm done we wait with what your marriage with i think that that started taking care of she's hung up oh did she hang up oh she was serious I don't know why. Why'd she hang up? Oh, my God. Andrew, you need to prep us for those things. We can't go and blind to something like that. I know you knew this the whole time. I was worried that something was going to go, that you weren't going to do it, and we wouldn't find anything out. And I just, I needed to confront her, and I needed everyone to know about it.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Well, and you got confirmation that she's married. I mean, it could have been some crazy ex or something making something up, you know. I mean, it sounds like she's kind of having issues with the marriage and everything. So, I mean, might not hurt to keep it. touch. No. No. Andrew.
Starting point is 00:18:51 You are the issue she's having in for marriage. It's kind of sweet. Pick up all the broken pieces and fix her. He was talking very highly of her the entire phone. If she's cheating on him, she'll cheat on you. Don't think that this is like going to be a good thing going forward. Especially if she's cheated on him with you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Maybe that means because she cheated with me that she won't cheat on me. No. Nobody ever says that. I appreciate the optimism. No. Okay. No. Andrew, wow. I mean, if you continue it, you know what you're getting yourself into, and it's not good.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Yeah, no, I just got that good feeling that. I don't think she's going to talk to me anymore now. Yeah. I don't know what's giving you that impression, Andrew. I would hold on to hope just a little bit longer. Yeah, and who knows? Maybe you'll match back up on Tinder again. Oh, got to make sure to be ready to swipe right again, okay, Andrew? I'm still on there, so, I mean, I'm going to do my best. Wait, what? I thought you were in a committed relationship, too. You're meeting other women? Oh, man. Wait, are you married? We should ask this, man.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Good point, Jose. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. No one can resist a rule of culture, so here's one for the dating files. Rule of culture number 72. Chemistry isn't just vibes, it's values. Because what's the point of matching with someone if you can't talk about the shows you binge,
Starting point is 00:20:09 the books you dog ear, or all the hot takes, you'll defend it brunch? I mean, you definitely have friends who have met their partners on Bumble, and it makes sense. It's not just about matching with someone. It's about finding someone who gets your references, your obsessions, your whole vibe. With shared interests and prompts, you don't just see a profile.
Starting point is 00:20:24 You get a glimpse of someone's personality, which makes it even easier to start conversations that actually lead somewhere. Plus, with photo and ID verification, you can trust that the person you're talking to is real. With that added peace of mind, it's so much easier to show up as your full self. So whether your rule of culture is, the best first date start with the shared hot take on Renaissance, or compatibility is having the same hometown bodega order, download Bumble, and turn those connections into something bigger. Download Bumble and start your love story. In the new podcast, Hell in Heaven, two young Americans moved to the Costa Rican jungle to start over,
Starting point is 00:20:59 but one will end up dead. The other tried for murder. Not once. People went wild. Not twice. Stunned. But three times. John and Ann Bender are rich and attractive,
Starting point is 00:21:15 and they're devoted to each other. They create a nature reserve and build a spectacular, circular home, high on the top of a hill. But little by little, their dream starts to crumble, and our couple retreat from reality. They lose it. They actually lose it. They sort of went nuts. Until one night, everything spins out of control. Listen to hell in heaven on the I-heart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your whole costs
Starting point is 00:21:48 why does this happen to us that we get used and abused the deceit yes listen you can lie to your spouses lie to your children lie to your parents but don't lie to us that's just low
Starting point is 00:22:04 that's not the message we're sending oh okay that's probably why it happens to us yeah because we say things like that okay lies every email that he reads and goes oh this is a crazy scenario let's get him on the phone we all believed him We all believed him in part one. I think you and producer Boyd need to do a little more background check.
Starting point is 00:22:21 You're right. I'm fired. Oh, really? I kind of be good for him, man. He got the revenge he wanted. He did. Yeah, I guess you're right. And bold to lie to us.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Kind of impressive, honestly. I didn't see it coming from him. Yeah, no. He seemed like the nice guy. Still not willing to fully eject from that relationship either, holding on a little bit of hope that she's going to come running to him. That's the unhealthy part. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I don't know. I don't know how I feel about the end of that phone call. but uh not a good ad for tinder no if you like chaos in your life then yeah it's a great ad but if you don't want to have chaos in your life anymore you can always email us tell us the truth though yeah or try yeah please and we'll try to help you with whatever issues you're dealing with you can find us online at brook and geoffrey the big take podcast from bloomberg news keeps you on top of the biggest stories of the day my fellow americans this is liberation day stories that move markets Chair Powell opened the door to this first interest rate cut.
