Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My mother-in-law spent years sabotaging our relationship until karma made her pay for it. All right, Sophia, tell me about how we started this story. She moved in for two weeks, lasted five days, left a mess, and then pressed her ear against their bedroom door and burst in screaming. When kicked out to a hotel, she called her son-in-law's workplace, pretending his partner had been rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
Starting point is 00:01:21 She faked a medical emergency? And spoiler, that was just the beginning. To find out how it ends, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple. podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes. Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule of two. Listen to stuff to
Starting point is 00:01:57 your mind on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clivert Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Cliver Show.
Starting point is 00:02:19 This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Welcome to it. It is a brand new episode right here on the Brooke and Jeffrey Second Date podcast. And today you get a little something different.
Starting point is 00:02:45 You get a blind love is. And it is different. To say the least. Yeah, it's special for Alexis's birthday. Oh, yeah. Everybody needs to wish Alexis. Happy birthday in the comments. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:02:57 I'm going to tell you right now this is not the gift I wanted what you're about to hear. That's all I was giving you. Yeah, well, maybe next year. All right. What do we see in the comments, birthday girl? Yes, well, I uncommented. So I've been listening to the show for a while now, but I've never watched a video of the show. So today, I decided to have a look on YouTube and I couldn't believe my eyes.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Uh-oh. I always thought in the profile picture, Jose is Jeff and Jeff is Jose. Oh, that's funny. And after I watched averse video, I was sure that they changed voices or something. I thought maybe it was AI. Nothing makes sense anymore, and I won't be able to watch another video because the voice doesn't fit the face. Oh, my God. Imagine us hanging out together, and he's the one who speaks more Spanish.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Yeah. You know, that is amazing. Yeah, definitely check out our videos on YouTube. By the way, do you know which one Brooke is? Because she's the younger. Thank you, Jose. Yeah. I mean, everybody always thinks, I'm the younger one.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Of course. Don't want to ruin Alexis's birthday by getting older, huh? Yeah, the whole class is Alexis. Yeah. All right. Let's get to your brand new episode right now. When you think of the most romantic movie quotes of all time, I mean, you had me at hello. If you're a bird, I'm a bird. Oh, that's a banger.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Oh, Houston, we have a problem. That was not a romantic line. That was scary and terrible. And really happened in real life, Jeff. I'm sorry, what do you think Tom Hanks means when he says Apollo 13 is ready for re-entry? What? That is not what you... I'm reading between the lines, Tom. I know what she meant.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Those passionate quotes have stood the test of time because they're so romantic. And I just wonder what flirtatious words will be uttered today by one of our listeners and etched into radio history. Because it's a brand new edition of Blind Love is. Let's turn the steamingness up right after this. Welcome back to Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:04:54 And we do this segment every now and again. You're familiar with the Netflix show Love is Blind. Ooh, are we doing it? We're doing the radio version of that called Blind Love is. Yeah, we are. Legally, it's airtight. Uh-huh. They can't touch us with that name.
Starting point is 00:05:13 AKA our legal team is not listening. Yes. So please, if the Love is Blind people hear this, just please don't sue us. Oh, they have real lawyers. Yeah, I'm just saying. But for us, it's just two of our listeners who are meeting for the the first time right here on the show. They've never seen each other before.
Starting point is 00:05:29 They've never heard each other's voices. But they've requested our help for other segments in the past, like a second date or an awkward Tuesday that just didn't work out. So now they're here open to the possibility of finding love by hearing a stranger's voice. We're magic workers. You make it sound romantic. I really do. Yeah. Maybe it's just the voice.
Starting point is 00:05:52 But let's not waste any more time. We're going to get them on the phone. We got Brad and D with us today. So why don't you two say hello to each other real quick? Hi. Hello. Well, look at that. They didn't even talk at the same time.
Starting point is 00:06:04 That's already a good sign. The chemistry is already happening. But just for reference, D is an aesthetician. Brad works in a warehouse, but he wanted us to make sure we say that he's a part-time supervisor. Okay. That's important. That was important.
Starting point is 00:06:17 So I'm going to throw out a question and the two of you can discuss it. And we're just going to back away after that, okay? I'm going to say if you two were on a first date right now with each other, what unique thing would you be doing to try to impress the other? Brad, Brad, you answer first, okay? Okay, what would be unique? Okay, I mean, you'd probably be impressed by my beard. I'm not sure that's unique, but...
Starting point is 00:06:47 Okay, can you describe your beard more? It's big. It's like maybe about to my chest. Dang, father time. Long beard. That's long. She's trying to like assess whether that's a kid. I guess another thing would be, you might be impressed by my ability to name all the snacks at a gas station and alphabetical order. I think not a lot of people can do that.
Starting point is 00:07:21 That is probably. Oh, okay. So you're like a 7-11 mentalist. Yeah, 7-11 mentors. No one said it like that before, but I like it. What about you? I mean, what would you impress me with? Well, I remember the guys I've dated before in the past.
Starting point is 00:07:44 It told me that I say the word pretzel sexy. Okay, could you say that again? Pretzel. Okay. Okay, I can see what they're saying, yeah. That actually did it for me. Okay, well, I have a question for you. What's your biggest green flag that might be a red flag?
Starting point is 00:08:11 Okay. Okay. I mean, I think it's a green flag. that I respond to text immediately, you know, like before you've even finished sending the next one. Oh, wow. Huh? Huh? Like, okay, well, I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds fine.
Starting point is 00:08:33 What about, what about you? I mean, I'm very, I'm very, very agreeable, so much that I'll probably bring it up later in a detailed argument. So you're going to argue about how agreeable you are? Do you like that? It's a green flag that could be red. Okay. You know what? Maybe this is a good point for us to jump in.
Starting point is 00:08:56 I don't think anyone understood the question. I don't think. I think she was trying to do like an interview and they're like, what's your down quality? And you're like, I work too hard. Yeah. I mean she was trying to get that effect. You're mad at me?
Starting point is 00:09:07 You think I'm being an a hole? I think so too. Well, you definitely both seem to be weird. And that's a good thing that you're both that way. For each other. We can just say it like that. Yeah. I'm weird.
Starting point is 00:09:17 Yeah, weird. Weird is the new cool? I don't think so. I read that somewhere. Okay. So we're in the middle of blind love is where two of our listeners who've never seen or spoken to each other before are meeting for the first time over the radio to see if there's a natural spark there. It sounds like there's definitely some connection happening, but to really test it, I have an idea that you two will just do a little improv to try and help start. doke the flames of love. Ooh, adjust on the fly.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Because they say that the mark of a good relationship is how you handle disagreements with each other. Yeah, hypotheticals are always really good when you're meeting somebody new, Jeff. I think role play is really fun when you meet someone new. I bet you do. So let's imagine both of you are starving right now. What? Brad is adamant that he wants burgers and beers for dinner. Oh, I thought we were on a deserted island.
Starting point is 00:10:13 I thought we were going to eat each other or something. I literally was thinking the same. You mean you're hungry. Yes. You're trying to decide what to have for dinner tonight. Brad wants burgers and beers. D, she's more in the mood for Chinese and sake. Both sounds so good.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Obviously, you have to use pet names when addressing each other because we're deep into a relationship now. They don't have pet names. And go. Okay. Okay, I'll start. Look, honey, I know we're trying to figure out dinner. But I saw in the news that the Chinese place you like, they increased how much MSG they used. Oh, did they now?
Starting point is 00:10:59 So maybe we should skip the Kungpao chicken tonight. Well, Sugar Bear. Oh, wow. Thank you so much for looking out for me. I actually did the same for you. Oh. Oh, really? Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Yeah, I called the head to your favorite burger spot, the one with the meth head cook. Okay. So they just had an E. coli breakout. They weren't shut down by the health department. So they said that you can still come and risk it if you want. Oh, wow. Okay, E. coli. Okay, I did not hear about that.
Starting point is 00:11:35 So it looks like both our places are risky, but I think we can get away with a little bit more at the Chinese restaurant. Because I've been stealing their nice porcelain chopsticks for years. What? You've been stealing. What? Just make sure you wear some baggy pants Because I really appreciate it if you did it for me Oh
Starting point is 00:11:55 Maybe baggy pants are still more Okay Yeah, I think we're done with our scene Looks like you two are doing Chinese tonight With some light left on the side And you're leaving with utensils Dating at Klepto is kind of fun Hey
Starting point is 00:12:10 Definitely exciting Just remember after the meal to run Don't walk to the parking lot You have to get out of there quickly Well, it's not too fast, also those chopsticks are falling out of your pants. Good point. So, all right, we're almost out of time here. I'm personally sensing some chemistry between the two of them.
Starting point is 00:12:26 I mean, she's already in charge of the relationship, let's be honest. But agreeably in charge. Yes, absolutely. And as always, though, we need our listeners to decide if they're a true match and should continue their conversation. So text in right now, 7-8-5-9-2. If you think they have a spark, Brad and D, and they should continue talking, text the word more. But if you think we should move on from the Chopstick Thieves text next. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Those text words actually made sense. I was going to go with like Kung, wow, if you liked it. Or Kung, not now. But then is there a hyphen? Yeah. Just more or next. I'm sorry I brought it up. Let's go back to the beginning.
Starting point is 00:13:06 We'll find out what happens when we come back for more. Blind love is right after this. So this is a crazy turn of events. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. The text board overwhelmed. said yes for our blind love is contestants, Brad and Dee. Oh, they were so cute. But the thing I did not expect is when our producer spoke with Brad in the break.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Apparently, he did not feel that way. What? And I'm just going to punch him up real quick. Brad. Brad, you want to tell us what the situation is, what you told our producer? Yeah, so I'd actually like to see if I was compatible with the young, lady from the show. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Oh, yeah. Alexis. You didn't have to clarify which young lady you were talking about. This is the one time I'm hoping he means Brooke. No one was confused.
Starting point is 00:13:57 No one thought it could be me. You want to shoot your shot with Alexis? I do, yeah. Well, hold on. What happened to D? Yeah, she's so good. She's so agreeable. Uh, sure.
Starting point is 00:14:09 But I don't know. I guess the heart wants what it wants, you know. Was this all the point to try to hit on Alexis? Right. Right. I mean, Alexis, you may not want to do this. I can kind of sense that. But it would be pretty easy to tell where your heart truly lies.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Because with blind love is, the chemistry either sparks or it implodes. And if someone's good at flirting in this room, it's Alexis. Oh, yeah. Brad, I do have to warn you, Alexis can get pretty flirty. So, Alexis, do you think you can keep this like PG-13? I'll try. Okay. So let's do a first ever blind love is with a listener and Alexis.
Starting point is 00:14:50 So it's only released to my will. It's semi-blind because we can see Alexis. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But Brad can't see him right now. And he knows what I look like, but I don't know what he looks like. That's true. The beard. This is, oh, God, I forgot about it.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Okay. All right. It is a little unfair because Alexis doesn't have any pre-prepared questions. I mean, she's a professional radio host. She can come up with something. I don't think I can. I don't think I'm capable. We'll get Brad to start it off, get the ball rolling.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Alexis, try to behave yourself. Oh, yeah. We're going to step away. The love is. Brad, go with your first question. All right, so question one. What is something you do on a date that you think is smooth but might not be? Oh.
Starting point is 00:15:32 It's kind of like that green. Smooth, but I might not be. I pretend I'm going to pay sometimes. Oh, good answer. What else is smooth? Maybe I take a photo of them for my friends. Maybe they notice that. Oh.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Like, not even a very fly. I don't know. No. No answers here. Okay. Am I supposed to ask something? Yes. Yeah, that's how conversations work.
Starting point is 00:15:54 What do you do that you think is smooth, but isn't? Creative. Very creative. I think I like to say, uh, this is fun, you know, out loud on the date. So there's like no confusion about whether or not I think it's a good time, but. Okay. I like that. I wish people do that more.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Like, I'm having a good time. Yeah, I'm having a great time. I don't know that he means it. Yeah, does he? I don't know. Brad, do you have another question for her? Please, yeah, don't make me honest. Yes, okay, another question would be,
Starting point is 00:16:24 what's something annoying I could do that would make you judge me by the end of this call? By the end of this call? By the end of this call? Mm-hmm. What annoys you the most, it sounds like? Oh, my God, I can't think right now. I'm so nervous.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Nothing could possibly annoy. Okay. If you talk over me, if you just talk about yourself, if you turn it back to you. If you're sitting with your legs crossed, that's an in. I can't see you. He said one thing that annoys. Don't talk about your ex. We don't like when men sit with her legs crossed.
Starting point is 00:16:54 No, that bothers me. If you talk about it, you used to play a sport in high school. Okay. There's a few things. I think Brad gets it. You know, why don't you ask him would be annoying about you? Because you sure did talk a lot about yourself. Okay, listen.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Brad, what would have? you that I could do in this call. Well, you haven't, I don't think you've done it yet, but I don't like you when people say no worries too much because I actually think that makes me worry. No worries. Oh, no worries. Oh, wait, are you trying to give him there?
Starting point is 00:17:25 Okay, let's move on from that one. Do you have another one, Brad? Please. Yeah, one more. It's, uh, so I'm a big kisser. Oh. What three words would you use to describe your kissing style? Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Good. amazing. I don't know. I don't know. Perfect. I'm good at kissing. I don't know another word. Do you have adjectives that describe the style? Juicy. Juicy.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Like, good lips. Like, no way. I don't know. It's not like a pack. Like more than a pack. That's four. words. Good, great, perfect, juicy lips.
Starting point is 00:18:15 I don't know. How else do you describe a kiss? What would you say? Sensual, soft. I think she's asking that back to you, Brad. Yeah. Or anybody. Oh, well, for me, I would say, wet, dangerous, and unforgettable.
Starting point is 00:18:30 What's dangerous about it? You might contract something when you're done with this kiss. The danger makes me think he's going to bite me. Yeah, I'm going to win you on that one. Let's fade the music back down. I mean, the chemistry off the charts. I'm dying right now. Dying so flustered.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Dude, I'm dying sitting next to her. I'm just like picking up her vibes right now. They're a lot. I know. It's like a nervous excitement being on the phone with someone that she connects with so intense. Brad, how are you feeling right now? I'm feeling super hot right now. Oh, that made you more attracted to Alexis.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Hearing about her kissing style? Yeah, it sounds like a great time. Okay. I'm ready to go. Go where? We're not going. There's a perfect dangerous kisses. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:19:18 That's the problem. Unforgetable. Okay, well, text in to 7, 8, 5, 92. I mean... I don't have a say. It's up to the... No. You've given up all of your decision-making to our listeners.
Starting point is 00:19:30 This will be 100% yes. I mean, I think it's a match. 100%. Alexis and Brad. Bro, Lexus? Brit the bumper stickers. This is going to be huge when, TMZ finds out that we shipped this.
Starting point is 00:19:44 I don't know if I'm going to ship it for her. I feel bad. Someone's got to stand up for it. Yeah. Alexis, any last words for your future lover? No worries, Brad. Nice to know. That was great.
Starting point is 00:19:56 All right, that was an extra steamy edition of Blind Love is. I miss D. Can we get her back? It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. She was crying in between the breaks guys. Let's be honest. You're a little insulted that he's the one turning you down.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Actually, for the first time, I think no. I could feel the pain. But Brad said no to Alexis. He wants to try Brooke next week. Okay. Coincidentally, he didn't even say young woman. He just said Brooke. Why wouldn't he go for the easy one and just try to target you, Jeff?
Starting point is 00:22:12 I mean. He wants what he wants. So sorry, Alexis. Brooke has once again swooped in and stolen your man. It's all the time between us, Alexis.
