Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, and I'm the host of the On Purpose podcast. Recently, I had a conversation with the one and only, Madonna. When I was broke and I had no friends, nowhere to live, I was held up at gunpoint, I was robbed. All these horrendous things happened to me.
Starting point is 00:01:19 I had such an unhappy childhood that whatever happened to me in New York is better than what my life was, so I'm not going back. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeart Ready app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Introducing IVF Disrupted, the Kind Body Story, a podcast about a company that promised to revolutionize fertility care. It grew like a tech startup. While Kind Body did help women start families, it also left behind a stream of disillusioned and angry patients. You think you're finally like in the right hands. You're just not. Listen to IvyF Disrupted,
Starting point is 00:01:58 the Kind Body Story on the iHeart Radio. app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the 1980s, modeling wasn't just a dream. It was a battlefield. It's a freaking war zone. These people are animals. The Model Wars podcast peels back the glossy cover and reveals a high-stakes game
Starting point is 00:02:16 where survival meant more than beauty. Hosted by me, Vanessa Grigoriatis, this is the untold story of an industry built a ruthless ambition. Listen to Model Wars on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, and this is your brand new second-day podcast episode.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Yay. I like that new podcast, like, that smell. It is good. Yeah, it doesn't last long. I know. You got to get it whilst fresh. Enjoy it, for sure. And today we got a blind love is, which I'm just going to say it right now.
Starting point is 00:02:52 The first half of this is Jeff's fault. Yeah, it's a little painful. Yeah. Or our producer Boyd. Which doesn't matter It's cringe None of us in the room's fault That's for sure
Starting point is 00:03:03 Yeah that's the important part Alexis So as you leave comments Make sure you know who to place the blame on But first Let's review yesterday's second date We got a lot of comments on that one This man and his knowledge
Starting point is 00:03:17 Of his mother's love life Was a little intense Yeah yeah One person said I spit my drink out When he said he needs to get laid Him and his mom are way too close Yes, they are. A lot of people said she was really mean, though.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Yeah. Yeah. Well, she was like already checked out. Yeah. I think she was like into it at all. Yeah. You know? And I'd probably be pretty defensive if I was called by a radio station and, you know, all this guy?
Starting point is 00:03:43 Yeah. Totally. Like you don't know what's wrong. Yeah. Let's get real. So we love your comments. Thanks for being here. Definitely subscribe.
Starting point is 00:03:51 And let us know what you think of today's. It starts right now. Every couple has their. how we met story oh yeah that's true you have to of course you want it to be really special and memorable something that you can tell your grandkids one day well i met your grandmother at the county fair we rode the bumper cars and then bump something else a little bit late at the fair oh yeah and could any story be more special more memorable than the time you met your soul mate on a morning radio show
Starting point is 00:04:29 as millions of people all over the country we're listening in. That'd actually be kind of crazy. That's somehow one rung below the fair. Yeah. We might be immortalizing someone's forever love as two strangers meet for the very first time
Starting point is 00:04:43 right here during a brand new blind love is. We're going to do it right after this. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning and true love is kind of supposed to take you by surprise. Oh, you know what that is? kind of how it's painted, right?
Starting point is 00:04:58 Yeah. It's you. Like Alexis cutting you off in a school zone, causing you to slam on your brakes and smash your forehead against the steering wheel. That's what love feels like. That was a concussion. That's a little more painful, Jeff, than I think it should be. Well, love is a little bit of pain. I heard that too.
Starting point is 00:05:15 I think opposite. I think it should be easy, breezy. Whoa. It's easy to cut people off. Yeah, there you go. Thank you, Alexis. And today we're hoping to get that same spontaneous heart-pounding feeling during a brand new edition of Blind Love is. Oh, like a blind spot.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Yeah, two of our single listeners are meeting for the very first time right here in front of our millions of radio and podcast listeners to see if there's a natural connection or an unnatural connection. You know what? Doing it this way, your analogy actually works really well.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Yeah. This is exactly how love should work. And remember, these are two people who have never seen each other before, they've never heard each other's voices. They don't even know each other's names yet, but they've still agreed to meet a total stranger for the very first time right here
Starting point is 00:06:04 for the chance at real love. We're going to meet the guy first and talk to him just for a minute. His name is Troy. So, Troy, welcome to the show. Hey, thanks for having me. According to my notes here, Troy, you've been with us actually a couple times before trying to get a second date,
Starting point is 00:06:20 but we've never been able to air them because the ladies that we've called have never answered the phone. Yeah. It's okay, though. They're probably just busy. Yeah. You're sweet, Troy. All right. Well, since you're kind of new, why don't you just real quick give everybody listening a quick snapshot of you and who you are? Okay. But before I do, can I give a quick shout out to my stepmom, Tracy? Oh, well, you just, you just did it. Okay. Yeah, it's just, she's been a listener to the show for a while, so she's going to be really,
Starting point is 00:06:55 excited to hear her name. Oh, that's sweet. Tracy, we love you. Okay. Thanks for sticking with us all these years. Do you want her to hear you do this segment? That's so much pressure. Well, it's stepmom.
Starting point is 00:07:03 That's true. You know what? Step mom's more chill. Okay. More like a friend. Well, shout out to Tracy then. Hi, Tracy. Hi, Tracy.
Starting point is 00:07:11 You've always been there for me since I was 12. Oh. I'm always going to be there for you. Okay. That's really sweet. Yeah. So, I mean, one thing we know is you have a good relationship with your family. Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:24 I want to know more about you. Not just your stepmom. Tell us about who you are, Troy. So, I'd say I'm more of a low-key guy, introvert. I like my cozy nights at home. And I'd like someone who appreciates family and could get along with me, my dad, and Tracy. All right. Sounds like a sitcom waiting to happen. I like it. All right. Here's the notes I have on your lady. Her name is Kim. She considers herself fun-loving, stylish,
Starting point is 00:07:56 and she wants a guy who appreciates her sense of humor. Likes her for who she is, not just for her looks. That's awesome. How's that sound, Troy? Yeah, that sounds great. I'm going to say Troy and Kim is a cute couple name. Yeah. They can call you trim.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Yeah. We already got some good momentum here. Troy, just have your questions ready. I'm going to put Kim on here so the two of you can talk, all right? Sounds good. Okay, so let's punch her up. Hey, Kim, you there? Hi, yes, I'm here.
Starting point is 00:08:26 All right. You sound fun-loving. So, Kim, we're introducing you for the very first time to a guy named Troy. We're just going to step away and we'll let you two talk, okay? We'll stay silent in the room. Here we go. Hi, Kim. Nice to talk to you.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Hi, I missed to meet you. So they said that you're fun-loving. Does that mean you love to have fun? Oh, my God. Wow. So is that a yes? Oh, my yes. Yes, I love fun.
Starting point is 00:09:10 She's nervous giggling. Well, that's cool. I'm a fan of fun, too. Yay. have so much in common. Well, question for you. Oh. The producer told me that you enjoy cozy nights at home, but I'm curious
Starting point is 00:09:27 when you do go out, where do you like to spend your time? Oh, good question. Oh, well, you know, sometimes when my dad's working late, I'll go to the beach with Tracy and we'll do a nice walk. Oh, who's Tracy?
Starting point is 00:09:42 It's my stepmom. She raised me since I was 12. Aw. Okay. Well, that's sweet. Yeah, I guess so. So you like the beach? Oh, I like the beach too. Wow.
Starting point is 00:10:04 As long as there's a lifeguard and good Wi-Fi. Hey. What? What? I said as long as there is a lifeguard and good Wi-Fi. I don't. understand you know Wi-Fi well yeah but because beaches don't have Wi-Fi so it's like you know it's ridiculous then why would you go there if it doesn't have one well I wouldn't it's a joke
Starting point is 00:10:38 oh okay uh ha ha ha ha I think I get it You know what I'm gonna tell that joke to Tracy later and see if she understands it Okay Okay Yeah so like I said I'm pretty close with my stepmom
Starting point is 00:11:04 But who in your life are you close to Okay that's a good question For me Well I can tell you who I was close with earlier today My gonna call it That was funny Wow She went there
Starting point is 00:11:23 So funny Does that mean you're dating someone else? What? No, no, it's another joke Oh, maybe I didn't get it Because I don't know what a gyrochologist No, gynecologist You've never heard of a gynecologist?
Starting point is 00:11:42 No, but hold on, maybe I should go Google it No, don't Google it. Don't Google it. Yeah, you know what? Hey, you crazy kids. We're just going to jump in to the conversation real quick. Great work, by the way, Troy. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Thanks. I appreciate it. I think he should Google it. He should probably know. Yeah, just not the image. And not in front of your stepmom. It's not a big image. It's just a doctor.
Starting point is 00:12:04 It's a doctor. Who knows what images will come up on the Google search. So I'm just, you know what? I'm going to put you two on hold for just a second while the room discusses. And, yeah, we'll be right back to you. Okay. So they're on hold. Uh, Jeff?
Starting point is 00:12:17 All right. Did you not screen? Like, there couldn't be two people with more different senses of humor. Yeah. I'm not sure if this one is working out totally. You're not sure? What are the text are saying? I think it's pretty clear.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Say I if you hear wedding bells in their future. And when I say they, I mean Troy and his stepmom. Oh, I. I? I mean, it sounds like that dad's working late a lot. Yeah. There are some opportunities. Maybe we should probably.
Starting point is 00:12:45 get two new people on here for the next part of this segment. If we all can agree to move on. Do we keep Kim and just find her someone or are we just ditching both of them? I think we're just going to say that this one is not a good match and we should try some two new people. We'll hold on to Kim's number for a future segment. But let's
Starting point is 00:13:01 mix it up a little bit, put a brand new couple together when we come back and try again for more. Blind Love is stepmom edition coming up right after this. Don't say it like that. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, and if you're just joining us, we're in the middle of another saucy edition of Blind Love is. Or train wreck edition, if you heard the first part.
Starting point is 00:13:26 It's actually pretty dry. The sauce made the train derail. So if you missed it, the couple we had on in the first part, Kim and Troy, they weren't really jelling. No, they weren't meant for each other. But everybody agreed. Even the listeners were like that. And we had to ditch them. But you know what they say about love on the radio?
Starting point is 00:13:42 Fail once. Shame on them. fail twice, we give up. Because this is our last chance. We only have time for two tries. Oh, okay. Radio rules are a little different. And we have a brand new couple ready to go, Marcus and Anna.
Starting point is 00:13:58 And just like last time, both were involved in second date updates previously that either didn't make it to air or something came up and it just didn't happen. But the last time in the first part of this segment, we spoke to the guy first. So this time, let's switch it up and do ladies first. Okay. So, Anna, welcome to the show. Hi. Thanks for having me.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Hey, Anna. I know you spoke to our producer right before this. And the three words that you told him to describe yourself apparently were silly, honest, and goblin. What the up? Goblin. I was on the spot. That's okay. But would you care to elaborate a little bit?
Starting point is 00:14:38 I just mean, like, if you find me in my home, I probably have the lights off. I'm, like, eating cookies in bed. you know what I mean like I'm not like a little goblin it's kind of a Gen Z term right I feel like she skitters around her house like yeah
Starting point is 00:14:54 you never know what you find her it also says on my notes here that you are into drawing board games and medical stuff you know we don't even have time to get into what that means and I'm not sure if we even want to I want to know what back alley
Starting point is 00:15:10 injections I can get from her okay we'll save that for after this segment because we are going to run short on time and we've already had Marcus on the line listening to this. So let's just go ahead and put you two together and see if that magic happens. So here we go.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Marcus, you are on. Do you want to say hi to Anna? Well, hello. How are you? Hi, I'm good. How are you? I'm good. I'm confused, but very good. Why are you confused? Well, I mean, I heard your goblin the explanation. And then I also heard
Starting point is 00:15:46 you're into medical things. I don't know what that means. Does that mean we're doing IV drips at the house or we're nothing like that? So I teach medical students and you know how you'd never want to be the first
Starting point is 00:16:03 patient to get a pelvic exam like the doctor's never done it before? So somebody's got to be that person. That's what I do You're everyone's first public exam I don't know if I like that
Starting point is 00:16:22 First of all It pays super well because it should And second of all It's really fulfilling work because you know that you're like doing Like good for the world But yeah like everybody has seen my private Parts I would like to say thank you
Starting point is 00:16:40 So, okay, so I feel like I've already told you a little more than I planned. But I don't know anything about you. Like, what's up with you? What do you like? Well, let me first start off with you're going to feel a little pressure. That's good. Pelvic exam, too. It was always going over well.
Starting point is 00:17:01 I'm still, I'm sorry. I don't even know what to say right now because I'm just imagining us going out and everybody's like, oh, I know her. Hey, Marcus, maybe you should try to change the side. subject. It's a lot about the pelvis. So, a little bit about me. There you go. Yeah. I, I'm tall, dark, and adorable. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:21 I'm six foot four, so you could probably wear heels unless you're seven foot ten. Is there ever a time that you're not joking? Well, not normally. I'm actually a stand-up comedian as well. Okay. Okay, tell me, tell me, you don't have to, don't tell me your best joke because it's probably really long, but tell me, like, your shortest good joke. That'd be me in the bedroom, but Hey, all right, I'll take that, I'll take that.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Good answer. No, I'm serious, I'm serious. Oh, oh, God. That's why he said a little pressure. It's not going to be. It's a lot. It's all a bit. And, okay, maybe we...
Starting point is 00:18:03 I mean, you're a medical... No, you know, if there's a pill for it or a pump. Okay. Okay, yeah. We need to put a little. to halt on the talk about this particular area of the body. I loved it. I think they're viving. I know you
Starting point is 00:18:15 love it, Brooke. Of course you did. They are viving in a weird way, but they're like tagging each other's jokes. They're funny together. We could play operation because he loves board games. In terms of just us in the room here, how do we feel the vibe is going right now between Marcus
Starting point is 00:18:35 and Anna? Alexis, what's your read on it? They weirdly work. Would you want to hang out with them in part. Okay, no. Not me, but they can hang out together. I think they'd have a great. Sure, just the two of them. All right, Brooke, what's your read? What's your read on Marcus and Anna? I think they're great. I'd be the third will on their date. They sound fun to hang out. I wouldn't do that, but they should just go out. Okay, so basically, we're checking our text board right now, 7-8-5-9-2, and a lot of the listeners are saying this is a yes. Yes, yes. That you two should definitely meet up in person and go out. But really, it's up
Starting point is 00:19:03 to you two. Marcus, Anna, are you feeling the vibe right now with each other? Gosh, I was unsure, but If everyone else is so confident in it and I've been single this long, I feel like maybe I should listen to everybody. All right. Anna's willing to bow to the peer pressure. Marcus, what about you? It's the chemistry they have. She didn't need to say that second part. Yeah, I was on board and just was like, oh, I didn't really want to until everybody.
Starting point is 00:19:29 I was too much. I didn't want to. I just wasn't sure 100%. Come on. She's playing it cool, Marcus. Just say yes. I mean, Marcus, I understand. It's blind love is you don't know what she looks like.
Starting point is 00:19:41 You have to see each other to really know if that chemistry is truly there. Exactly. I mean, that's true. But she likes to hang out in the dark, so I don't even know if that's going to happen. We need a win after the last two people we just had on. We're going to ask the question now once and for all. Will the two of you go out on an official first date? We will not pay for it.
Starting point is 00:20:00 What do you say? That's right. It's on a second date. Marcus, you're up first. Like I said, I would love to take her on a date. Okay, so it's a maybe from Marcus and Anna? Yes, I would love to. All right, there we go.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Second time was the charm for us. We did it. Congratulations, you too. We'll pass your numbers to each other so you can contact in real life. Thank you. Perfect. Thank you so much. For anybody listening who would like 10% off of a free pelvic exam,
Starting point is 00:20:31 use the code word Jeff and Anna will be over to your place shortly. Hey, oh wait, you don't even do it. She receives them. Yeah. Okay. You guys can do a two-for-one deal then together. That's fine. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

All I know is what I've been told, and that's a half-truth is a whole lie. For almost a decade, the murder of an 18-year-old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved, until a local homemaker, a journalist, and a handful of girls,
Starting point is 00:21:38 came forward with a story. I'm telling you, we know Quincy Kilder, we know. A story that law enforcement used to convict six people and that got the citizen investigator on national TV. Through sheer persistence and nerve, this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran. My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, producer,
Starting point is 00:22:04 and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to. find. I did not know her and I did not kill her or rape or burn or any of that other stuff that y'all said it. They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I poured gas on her. From Lava for Good, this is Graves County, a show about just how far our legal system will go in order to find someone to blame.
Starting point is 00:22:33 America, y'all better work the hell up. Bad things happens to good. people in small towns. Listen to Graves County in the Bone Valley feed on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And to binge the entire season ad free, subscribe to Lava for Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. Well, we've definitely asked that cute second couple to send us an update. Yes, we need one.
Starting point is 00:23:08 No, there were vibes. The first couple, I don't think we need any. No. Further information. There were also vibes, but not good ones. I don't know. This segment totally lit up our text board. You know, of course you can always leave a comment, but our text board, the number is 7-8-5-9-2.
Starting point is 00:23:24 If you ever wanted. Yeah, text in and interact with the show. Text messaging rates apply. Sorry, I think we legally have to say that really fast. I don't know. Don't ruin my legal, bro. Just read some of the text. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:35 We got this text in that says, what is this gynecology hour? Oh, that was such a good joke. Somebody else says, how does he not know what gynecologist is? I don't know. We're men. It doesn't matter. I know what one is, but I have a sister. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:49 There's probably guys who don't have no idea. These are the reasons why we need public health classes. Yes. You know that is a disservice to everyone who doesn't know what that is. I thought she was really funny. Yeah, she was funny. Yeah, if you have any other gynecology jokes, let us know. Let us out.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Really. People are full of them out there. I'm laughing, imagining like, 50 gynecology jokes coming in like there's so many out there so awesome well hey thank you so much for being here and please like and subscribe we're going to be back tomorrow with a brand new episode of your second date update which i've heard is going to be fantastic it's a colonoscopy one all right it is brick and jeffray in the morning and this is your second date podcast If you've been thinking, man alive, I could go for some good true crime podcast episodes,
