Listen to these women and more on She Pivotts, now on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's Brick and Jeffrey in the morning, and you have found the second date podcast. And today we're going to do A Blind Love is, if you haven't ever heard this, it's just fully a rip off off the Netflix dating show. Yeah, but it's where two listeners who were supposed to be on the show at some point, it just didn't work out. and are looking for love, we decided to play matchmaker. And they're up for it for some reason. Yeah, for some reason.
Starting point is 00:03:01 And Alexis, before we get to it, what comments are you seeing? Yeah, I saw one from Natalie who said, I went on back-to-back dates during my weekend off, four dates in three days. And I was hoping I'd get a call for the second date update. Oh, no. It was the messiest thing I've ever done, and I loved it. I also met my current boyfriend on date three, and we've been together ever since.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Oh, that's cute. So a second date wouldn't have worked for you. No. So you went in wanting that and you left with a boyfriend and you're disappointed? So funny. Said no one ever. Yeah, said no one ever. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Blind love is starts right now. Ask yourself, how far are you willing to go to make true love happen in your life? Oh, that's a big question. Would you be willing to change your name to something sexy? Wow. Like Chazerton? We need to work on that sexy part I'll work on that
Starting point is 00:03:57 Would you be willing to travel back in time To your mom's high school prom And ask her best friend to the big dance Wait, her best friend, that's still gross I would and have No What's wrong with you, Jeff? She's right that night
Starting point is 00:04:15 Would you flirt with a person That you've never met before and have that entire conversation broadcast live to millions of people around the country. Oh, my God. Why does that sound so much better than the other two things? Well, we have two listeners on the phone right now that said yes to that question. And we've given them two new prompts to make sure the convo gets extra spicy. So you're going to hear it when they meet for the very first time and decide if there is a blossoming romance.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And a blind love is, it's coming up. Next. We have a general rule in radio that when Netflix, goes low, we go even lower. That's right. We will limbo. We'll dig underneath the limbo bar. Tunnel below it. That's why
Starting point is 00:04:59 when Netflix came out with the dating show, love is blind, we did our own lower budget version called Blind Love is. Yeah, that's right. Where two people who've never met before, and obviously can't see each other, meet over our phone lines for the very first time to chat and see if they
Starting point is 00:05:15 have a true love connection, and hopefully no family connections. Yeah. I mean, again, lower. We're okay. Brooke is hoping for that one. I don't know. As long as it's a second or third thing.
Starting point is 00:05:26 Yeah, I mean, it would make some headlines. But we do have two listeners on the line right now to play the game. Their names are Jason and Jessica. They've both reached out to us separately. Jason requested a second date we couldn't do for him. And Jessica was actually on an awkward Tuesday with us a while back. She was the replaced bridesmaid at someone's wedding. Oh.
Starting point is 00:05:47 They kicked her out. Oh, that's right. Yeah, she got booted. She was happy about it, I think. She was. Yeah. But it was like the mother-in-law was terrible or something. But they both agreed to be back on for this segment.
Starting point is 00:05:58 So just like last time, we've encouraged them instead of just small talking for five, ten minutes, to try and be a little creative and fun with their questions. I love it. So they both come prepared. AKA just like, entertain us while you're getting to know each other. I mean, it's no different than what the dating apps use, right? They use prompts and different things. There's not thousands and thousands of people listening in.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Well, usually you just talk about, like, your job and whatever for like 20 minutes. You can go to another show for that. But remember, we need quiet in this room. And I know that's difficult for this group. But we just have to sit back, listen to them talk, and then we'll discuss afterwards and find out if blind truly love is. I feel already we have such a connection to Jennifer because she's been on the show. It's Jessica, Brooke.
Starting point is 00:06:40 So we don't have strong of a connection as we thought. Sorry, just went with the 80s general name. But, yeah. I love Jillian. Sorry, Jessica. We're so close. We're so close. On this end, Jason, you're officially punched up.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Go ahead, say hi to Jessica. And we're going to back away. Hey, Jessica. Hey, Jason. What's up? Uh-huh. Real quick, before we start, I promise my mom I would say hi over the radio because she listens to the station.
Starting point is 00:07:18 the time. Oh, that's so cute. Oh, God. I love this. Hey, hey, mom, I'm here, I'm here. Hi, Jason's mom. Don't worry, I'll be gentle. Oh.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Okay, okay, but let's keep it PG-rated since my mom. Yeah, what do you think I was going to say? We're on the radio, Jason. Yeah, yeah. Okay, so should I ask the first question? Yes, do it. Okay, so what is your ultimate guilty pleasure? Ooh.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Good one. Oh, that's not too PG with my mom listening. I don't really want to talk about what gives me pleasure. Oh. No. No. Oh, my God, Jason, no. You're guilty pleasure, not like your pleasure, pleasure.
Starting point is 00:08:21 I'm pretty guilty about it. I just, I don't want to tell my mom. Okay. So like a guilty pleasure could be binge eating ice cream while watching reality TV shows. Oh, a guilty pleasure. Oh, yeah, sure. Sorry. What about that?
Starting point is 00:08:43 Yeah. Geez, my head's in the gutter. Sorry. I see that. It's not that big to be, but not right now. Oh, well. Okay. Sometimes I can stay in a shower for a long time.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Like, I could do a two-hour shower, no problem. Two hours? Yeah, it's kind of an issue for the water bill. Dang, Jason. How much scrubbing do you have to do? red flag No, I'm just kidding I'm just kidding
Starting point is 00:09:16 Okay What about you What's your guilty pleasure? All right My guilty pleasure Okay, don't judge me I kind of like to spy on my neighbors I know I shouldn't
Starting point is 00:09:29 But like they're such a cute old couple And they just do regular stuff Like watch TV And I don't know It's fascinating to me And I don't know Maybe if things work out You can come check out my telescope
Starting point is 00:09:39 Wow That's kind of cute and creepy I agree I'm not you know I agree okay I have a question for you
Starting point is 00:09:51 all right we only have one minute left so make sure it's quick guys okay if you could have any superpower but only for like boring mundane tasks what would it be
Starting point is 00:10:03 a mundane superpower okay I got it I got it I could snap my fingers and make coffee bam that would be it I love coffee
Starting point is 00:10:18 spend way too much time drinking it so if I could snap and get a coffee that'd be it that's pretty good you know you could make coffee at home and just have it on standby it'd be faster than that it'd be faster than the Kearig
Starting point is 00:10:34 okay okay sure what's yours sorry enough about me what's yours power of speech that's what I would like power of speech. I love tongue twisters.
Starting point is 00:10:47 And if I could say any tongue twister without problem, I would be a God. I would go out. You know, a solid tongue could definitely come in handy. Hey. Oh, okay. That's your cute. Let's put them on hold.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Okay, Sally and her seashells are having some fun. For the sake of Jason's mother, who is listening to this right now, let's take them down. That time ran it perfectly. So, uh, Okay. I like Jessica. What did we think about Jason and Jessica as a couple?
Starting point is 00:11:18 I don't know as a couple. Jason's a little slow to get some things. I mean, you can judge Jason by himself, but I'm not asking about him. I'm asking them as a couple together. Do they seem like a good fit? I'm worried that she'll run him over because of that bet. When are you ever against women doing that? What's the issue?
Starting point is 00:11:37 I just don't know if he can keep up is my thing. What do you think, Jose? They're a cute couple because opposite. I'm assuming Alexis ships them already. I'd like them. Yeah, she likes everybody. Yeah, I'm not going to say that. We always like to leave this up to the texters at 7-8-5-9-2.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Tell us, do you want to hear more from Jason and Jessica, or we could dump them for a brand-new couple? So type, love yay for yes or love nay for no. Why can't we just say yes or no? Don't do it the horseway. Do it. N-A-Y is fine. N-A-E. Why do you always make this so complicated?
Starting point is 00:12:17 It's easy in my head. But look, if Jason and Jessica make it to the next segment, I have a game ready for them to play to truly test their connection and find out if Blind Love really is. Oh, you're teasing us. I want a yes, then. We're going to do it. Yay.
Starting point is 00:12:31 I don't know. We're in the middle of another steamy edition of Blind Love is, the knockoff radio version of the show Love is blind from Netflix. And Jessica and Jason have just met and flirted over the phone. The listeners have been texting in to 7-8-5-9-2 on whether they want this to continue. 63% say they want to hear more. Yay! I think we all agree with it, too.
Starting point is 00:12:59 I mean, it could have been the thing where people just misspelled nay and didn't know how to do it. Why make them spell? No one talks that way, Jeff. You can't even literally just go one for yes, two for no. I aspire to a smarter, fancier culture for us. us here. You're in the wrong industry then. I guess so. How many times you have to tell you that? I can tell you we did get a lot
Starting point is 00:13:18 of yays and also a lot of listeners wanting to say hi to Jason's mom, who you mentioned is listening to this segment right now. But I thought we should also have a game to really put these two to the love test. Let's go. What's the game? So we googled potential fun games to play on
Starting point is 00:13:34 a first date with someone and Pictionary came up. That's not going to work well here. Yeah. Tough on the radio to pull it off. Also spin the bottle was an option. Also, but we know Brooke would have grabbed the bottle every time and pointed it straight at herself. So. I like kisses.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Instead, we landed on the game, two truths and a lie. We've played this as a show. It's simple and it's fun. You tell three statements about yourself. Two of them are true. One's made up. And the other person has to guess which one the lie is.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Yeah. Now, both Jessica and Jason have worked with our producer ahead of time to come up with these. so they'd be ready to go. And I'm going to be involved in this a little bit just to help run the game, but I'm going to ask my co-host to please try and keep your contributions to a minimum. If you could only see my eye roll on the radio right now. No, I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:14:26 This is going to be fine. This is about Jason and Jessica. We're going to start things off with Jason today. So Jason, go ahead. Give Jessica two truths and a lie. Okay. I once mistook a cactus for our. plush toy and
Starting point is 00:14:44 hugged it. Ow! Oh my gosh. Okay. After losing a fantasy football bet, I had to make out with the guy that was
Starting point is 00:14:58 in first place. Oh. Wait. So the champion and the loser? Maybe I do want to play fantasy football. Okay. I don't know. Speculation.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Speculation. What? Okay. Okay. Let's go to the best of the league. She's not totally believing that one, I think. I once tried to impress a date that I was on and thought I would impress her by doing karate moves
Starting point is 00:15:23 and accidentally knocked over our waiter. Oh, wow. That's some action right there that you were not expecting on a date. All right. So we have the three options for you there, Jessica. Which one is the lie? You know, I don't believe number two You don't think that the fantasy football bet
Starting point is 00:15:45 Where he had to kiss the guy that was in first place He didn't say kiss He said made out Okay, make out Very different turns Okay She thinks you're lying about that one Jason which one was the lie
Starting point is 00:15:58 The lie Was I Mistook a cactus for a plush boy hugged Oh That's like the word bro you should have lied And the other lie was the lie. Why not? Come on. You really made out with your fantasy football buddy?
Starting point is 00:16:15 I kissed him once. I don't know why I said make out. Must have been not very good if you only did it once. Where were your hands? Is this why we call it fantasy? Is that why? Oh, my God. For his group.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Okay. We've learned some interesting things about Jason. Jessica, it's your turn. Give Jason your two truths and a lie. Okay. Okay, well, I auditioned for a reality TV show once by kissing a cardboard cutout of Ryan Reynolds. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:54 One Valentine's Day, I sent myself flowers, chocolates, and a love letter in the mail to my house. Oh, that's kind of sad. She's yelling it very defensively. One could argue that that is self-love. Sure. So, one morning going to work on a city bus, I, for a lack of a better word, messed myself. And not only did I mess myself, but I still went to the office. Oh, dedication.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Without changing? I feel like Brooks done that without telling us a couple times. without changes. Oh, my God. If you drink enough water, nobody notices. Oh, bro. Oh, man. What?
Starting point is 00:17:45 I mean, she is with black pants. I wouldn't be able to tell. The whole thing's wet. Okay. Well, there you go, Jason. You have your three statements. Which one of those is a lie do you think? Which one do you want to be a lie?
Starting point is 00:17:56 I think the lie is the Valentine's Day. Oh. You don't think it's true that she sent herself flowers, chocolates, and a love letter all in the mail. I think that she has the most beautiful voice. ever heard, and I can't imagine a balance I'd say that she's alone. Wow. Jason, stop, but don't.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Okay, that was kind of sweet. Stop, but don't. I could keep going. Which one was a lie, Jessica? All right. Well, Jason, the lie was that I never made out or kissed
Starting point is 00:18:27 a cardboard cutout of Ryan Reynolds. Sadly, you have such a personality. I could see you auditioning for a reality. Actually, you might be perfect. I thought that was legit. But let's go around the room really quick. What do we think about Jason and Jessica as a couple? Do we want to see them together?
Starting point is 00:18:44 Alexis, go. I mean, I think they should go on a date date, like a real one. Yeah, a meeting person. Yeah, I'm for sure. I mean, if they're willing to share that embarrassing stuff with each other, it's a good foundation. How much worse could it get from here? No, I actually, I thought they were really fun. Really fun.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Yeah, I thought they were fun and playful. I mean, it doesn't sound like it's crazy love, but I think they definitely need to go out one time and see what happens. Okay. Well, you know where my thumbs are on this one. Oh, Jessica. I can't see that. Are you in his football league? Jason, Jessica, what do you guys think?
Starting point is 00:19:13 You guys up for going out? We'll pay for it. Oh, I would love to. Jessica? I am down. Yay! All right. Look at that.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Look at that. Dude, update us after you meet in person. We found out truly blind love is. Is? Is? Is not. Yeah. Are you all paying for the date?
Starting point is 00:19:36 Yeah, we'll pay for the date. We got you. You don't get any more money after that, though. This isn't a real reality show. Can we just find out he's broke? I'm trying to karate chop any more waiters while you're out, okay? Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport.
Starting point is 00:19:58 The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently the explosion actually impelled metal glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances, just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and order, criminal justice system is back.
Starting point is 00:20:33 In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that high. in plain sight that's harder to predict and even harder to stop listen to the new season of law and order criminal justice system on the iHeart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts i'm noah i'm 13 and as you might have seen from the news i got a podcast and i explain those fake headlines like your uncle would like your cousin would if he actually did the research Honestly, adults don't ask the right questions Now you know with Noah de Barroso is a show about influence
Starting point is 00:21:12 Who's got it, how they use it, and what it means for the rest of you. It's not the news. It's what the news should be if someone Gen Z or Gen Alpha made it When I'm watching everything. Majority of the youth 18 through 24
Starting point is 00:21:27 say they trust Republicans more than Democrats differ on the economy. You kidding. Politics is wild and I'm definitely not here to payment, but I'm here to make sense of it. Just what's happening, why it matters,
Starting point is 00:21:41 and what it means for us. Bring your brain. Listen to Now You Know with Noah DeBarossa on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Okay, so that was a classic. We actually did that quite a while ago. That's why I love is,
Starting point is 00:21:59 if you didn't realize classics are, you know, stuff from the vault, and that's okay. That's okay. But we got an update from the couple. I don't know if you know this Well it's actually just from Jessica She emailed the show Okay
Starting point is 00:22:10 And she said that she and Jason Did end up meeting up Okay Really? But they did it with friends Because they didn't want a lot of pressure Okay Which makes sense So she brought her roommate
Starting point is 00:22:21 And Jason According to this email Brought his mom No he didn't No I shouldn't even be surprised No you don't And this is our first time
Starting point is 00:22:34 seeing each other in person said like ever, you know? And so she continues saying she and Jason didn't really have a connection in real life, but she ended up totally viving with his mom. And apparently Jessica is now playing pickleball with her once a month, and it's been awesome. Aw. Wait, that's kind of cute. But it's so weird.
Starting point is 00:22:54 I like it. So funny. You got a friend. All right. We're friendshiping you and his mom. You know, I liked her more than him, so I'm glad it worked out. Yeah, totally, totally. There it is.
Starting point is 00:23:04 And thanks for being here. It's Brick and Jeffrey in the morning. When I became a journalist, I was the first Latina in the newsrooms where I worked. I'm Maria Inojosa.
