Starting point is 00:00:00 You got a doozy of a full hour today. You have some listeners that have been asking for something on the text board in the comments. And today, thanks to you, you're going to get it. I call this a woozy-dozy. A woozy-dozy. Because I'm woozy now. Yeah. I don't blame you.
Starting point is 00:00:15 I don't blame you. Still, I mean. I'll tease it like this. I'll say the summertime challenge is back. Yeah. And you normally, I'd go, yay. And wait till you hear it. Boo.
Starting point is 00:00:26 We all survived. I will say that. And you will never. Ever, ever, ever. Hear Jeff the same again. Nope. After what you're about to win. We are so sorry about him.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Okay. It's coming up. Oh my gosh. Your brand new full hour starts right now. Good luck, guys. Great news, everyone. We've all been waiting to hear the results from this, and it's finally in. What?
Starting point is 00:00:50 It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Subscribe to our YouTube page, by the way, if you haven't. But the paint giant Sherwin Williams has just released the new color of the year. Yay! Why do I legitimately look forward to it? Yes. Who doesn't? That is such a way thing.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Before I tell you, it's quote, refreshing, restoring, and ready to make itself in Brooks home. I'm talking about none other than the color, celery green. Oh. I like that. How excited are you about celery green? I think it's a great shade. Honestly, it's vibrant. I think it just indicates.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Life. I'm trying to think of celery green. Is it dark or light? It's light. Sherwin Williams wants to know it's much different than dark celery. And I'm going to show you the difference. Oh, there's dark celery. There's a photo for a year.
Starting point is 00:01:45 That's celery that's been in your fridge for like four to five weeks. It's starting to turn. It's got a 70s vibe to dark celery. Now, here's a picture of fresh celery color. Now, that's right. It reminds me of the color that my entire high school was. painted. Oh, really? It's almost like a lime green. I don't know if anyone had that kind of like hospital lymie green color. They had buckets of it and they just kept painting the room. I think that's just mold growing on the walls because they haven't cleaned it in a while. I mean, do you think any other show in the entire country is talking about paint colors of the year?
Starting point is 00:02:19 Especially an audio show that you can't even see the color. I'm sorry, paint drying is hot with the kids right now. This is very visual. Again, subscribe to our YouTube for more hot content like this. And we're not even videotaping this segment. That's how good we are at our jobs. So once again, cheers to Sherwin Williams for making a bold choice on making celery the color of the year. Wow. Fresh, that is, not dark. Now, let's get to the shock color question of the day and keep the freshness going with our own digital Jake. Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Well, on this day in 1983, Vanessa Williams made history. when she became the first black woman ever to be crowned Miss America. Wow. Good job. It was a huge milestone, a huge achievement. They gave her a crown, the sash, the flowers. And then, less than a year later, they asked for it all back. After a little scandal leaked to the public.
Starting point is 00:03:19 What scandal? Oh, it was like super minor. Well, you know, that's baseball for you. Yeah. Still, Vanessa's whoopsie Daisy isn't even close to the strangest thing that's happened during the competition. And that's why today we're digging through the sequins, the sashes, and oddest moments from Miss America history during a special pageant pandemonium edition of Plenty of 20. Here's how it works.
Starting point is 00:03:45 You say a number one, two, all the way up to 20. I'll give you a question about the strange history of Miss America. Just answer correctly and you can stay in the game. Okay. We'll start with the woman who almost won her high school pageant using her talent, Texas. Stingwall blindfolded. That's Alexis. She didn't get one word wrong.
Starting point is 00:04:05 11. Alexis, what animal got permanently banned from the Miss America talent competition after one basically fell into the orchestra pit? Oh, God. Here we go. Is it A, a pig, B, a horse, C, a seal, or D, a dog in a wheelchair? Oh. I want the dog to win the whole bag in the whole bag in.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Give him the sash. But if a horse, it feels like what injure people. I'm going to go a pig. Just because it's the smallest. I don't know. I think that was the Miss Arkansas talent. Show me pig. That's incorrect.
Starting point is 00:04:44 It was be a horse. In 1949, Miss Montana Carol Fraser was attempting to do a handstand on a horse when it veered to the left on stage and went to the orchestra pit. From that point on, all animal acts were banned. Oh, my God. We're 0 for one. We're talking Miss America oddities and unusuals, and Brooke, it's your turn, 11's off the board. I'm built for this.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Let's go. Give me 12. All right. In 1969, what unusual talent did one Miss America contestant perform that surprised both the judges and the audience helping her win the crown? Was it A, competitive yodeling while riding a unicycle? heating up a full Thanksgiving dinner with a hair dryer.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Oh, wow. This lady's like attracting me. C, perfectly imitating the sound of a rotary phone with her mouth and armpit. Hey! Oh, my God, Jose. Or D, jumping on a trampoline. Oh, God. You know, that's all over a view.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Oh, my God judges. I think that it was probably a panel full of men that were the judges. and it went lowest common denominator jumping on a trampoline. Men do make good judges, yeah. Brick says jumping on a trampoline and she's right.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Oh my gosh. She was a junior national trampoline champion and won Miss America in 1969. That can't be subtle. Yeah. She was the best at it. I'd have to see her act
Starting point is 00:06:18 before I passed judgment. Jose, it's your turn. Brooks got hers right. Alexis got hers wrong. So how about a number from you? Let's go 10? In 1982, a Miss America contestant won while wearing a gown made entirely from what? A, aluminum foil, B, her grandma's tablecloth.
Starting point is 00:06:36 C, bubble wrap, or D, Chipotle napkin? Oh, it's on brown. Bubble wrap, again, no. Going with the misogynistic angle, you can kind of see through it, but you can't. I think I'm gonna go with the dude judges and say bubble wrap. Jose thinks the dress was made of bubble wrap. No, I'm sorry. It was Grandma's Table Club.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Oh, that is true. Elizabeth Ward, Miss America, 1982 wore a gown. She sewed together using her grandmother's lace tablecloth. Oh, that's sweet. But there's little Ambrosia salad stain on it. There's mustard from our family potluck. Jeffrey, it's your turn. 10, 11, and 12, we're off the board.
Starting point is 00:07:23 I'll go eight. All righty. In 1940, the Miss America pageant was basically an entire festival. Along with the actual beauty competition, which of these events were really part of the Miss America festivities? Was it A, a baby parade? B, a husband carrying contest. C, a Miss America pie eating contest? Or D. A Miss America pickle jar opening contest.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Oh, okay. So the pickle jar opening contest, it would be such a struggle for, I feel like, all the contestants, you wouldn't want to watch that. Well, and their hands are so moisturized, I'm sure, because they've been taking care of their, you know, skin. Husband carrying contest, that's anti-Miss America.
Starting point is 00:08:10 They're not ready to have husbands yet. That's a good one. They're all bachelorette. There is a Mrs. America contest. Well, not now, but not now. Same deal. They're not ready to have babies yet. Give me Miss America
Starting point is 00:08:21 Sloppy Pie eating contest. Slop it's a day. Eating contest. He's very impressed. Terribly wrong answer, Jeffrey. It was a baby parade. Little ones were putting elaborately decorated carriages
Starting point is 00:08:34 like floats at the Macy's Day parade while fireworks went off to celebrate Miss America. Just don't bring your stagehorse near the fireworks. After this math, Brooke is the Miss America of today. Plenty of 20. Here she is.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Miss America winner for the shock collar question of the day. Brooke Fox gets to choose who gets shocked. And they're going to be singing the Miss United States song by William Shatner for Miss Congeniality. I mean, there's nobody better suited than Jeffrey for that. I love that movie. I mean, how you are not an announcer for pageants is beyond me. From sea to shining sea like Lady Liberty. Yes, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:09:16 She rains over all she sees. She's beauty She's crazy She's crazy He's literally pointing at Brooke While I don't have a sash I'm not sure Let's get you a bubble wrap
Starting point is 00:09:31 dress and then we'll be good That's your shot collar question of the day Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning I feel like whenever we talk about Brooke's wedding Most people mention The Camel That her husband was forced to ride
Starting point is 00:09:47 down Main Street of her town He wasn't forced he was just severely peer-pressed. This wasn't his idea. Okay, semantics, yeah. Well, one bride has a different memorable moment from her wedding day that everybody talks about for all the wrong reasons. Oh, yes. The bride-groom and guests all thought they knew who was to blame.
Starting point is 00:10:09 What? Until now, years later, a bridesmaid is coming forward to tell the shocking truth about what really happened in a brand-new mass-based. coming up. For the record, my husband blames my mom for the camel. Okay. You don't know me. A confession I can't take back. I am.
Starting point is 00:10:33 The masked speaker. Text to 785592 says, I've been shopping at my favorite grocery store for 20 years, but they just did a major renovation and moved everything around. Oh, God, I hate that. I've actually cried in the store a couple times. because I couldn't find items where they normally were. Where's the bread?
Starting point is 00:10:54 The tortillas. Now I have to buy all this new stuff I'm walking by. Well, listen, we can't help you find where they put the new cereal aisle. But we can help you confess your secrets right here on the mass speaker and keep you anonymous for the experience. Like with today's caller who wants to come clean using Jennifer as her fake identity. So Jennifer, welcome to the show. Hi, guys. Thanks so much for having me.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Gosh, I hope you're not lost in the frozen section. Not anymore. We're ready to hear whatever your confession is. Voice Changer is on. You are the mass speaker. Whenever you're ready, let's hear it. Okay, so a few years ago, I was a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding, right? And the week leading up to the wedding, we had like a little girl's night with all the bridesmaids.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Over at the bride's house, we're all hanging out. You know, we were drinking. We were getting a little tipsy. It was so much fun. Nice. Sounds perfect. Right. Like, we got to let loose a little bit before, right?
Starting point is 00:11:54 Right. Just a little bit. Just to practice how the kiss is going to go between you guys up on this altar? How are you going to do it? Show me. That's exactly what happens to every girl party ever, Jeff. I knew it. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Right after that. That sounds like fun, Jennifer. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And at some point, I don't even remember how this came up, but at some point, we told the bride, like, oh, my gosh, go put your dress on. Like, let's see it. So she went to put her dress on and she was showing it off and it's so beautiful. And at some point, we kind of all decided that like, oh my gosh, it would be so much fun if we each took a turn like trying the dress on.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Oh. No. No. I'm going to tell you. I would not want to be near my friend's wedding. The bride was okay with that? I mean, yes. She's like, oh, my gosh, that would be so much fun.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Yeah. So we each kind of took our turn. Like we'd go into the bathroom, we put the dress on and walk out and do like big reveal, right? Okay. It's like the sisterhood of the traveling pants, but with a bridle gown. Traveling pants. You need to fit one person. So my turn comes up, right?
Starting point is 00:13:01 I go in the bathroom, I put the dress on. And like, I walk out and everyone's like, oh, my God. Right. It's so sweet. And then afterwards, I'm going to the bathroom. I'm taking it off. And as I'm taking the dress off, I hear just the tiniest. little like ripping sound.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Oh, girl. It was gonna be somebody. Yeah. I didn't think of that. It's not meant to be on and off that many times. It's like a custom dress. It's like one-wear things, like one-time wear, then you throw it away. No, they're very well made, but they're very much altered to fit exactly one person's body.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Oh, no. So I get the dress off and I like, immediately start, like, looking over the whole thing. I'm like, oh, my God, what just ripped on this dress? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I didn't see anything. So I'm like, turn the whole thing inside out. And it looks totally fine. So I don't say anything.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Because I don't want to, like, freak her out. Right. For no reason. So she puts the dress back in the garment bag and we all go to sleep. Right. And then a few days later, the wedding day comes. She puts the dress on the morning. But there's no issues, right?
Starting point is 00:14:08 We do all the photos before the ceremony. The ceremony happens. Everything is great. Literally no problem. Like, oh, my gosh. I'm feeling so much better. Okay. This is the worst confession we've ever heard.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Yeah. Nothing bad happened. I thought it was going to be like, I do. And then the whole giraffe just rips out. It's like tear away pants. Unless we haven't gotten to it. Well, so the reception happens. And then the bride and groom are going to give their speeches.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Yeah. So she goes up and she's got the microphone. She's giving her speech. And she's such a sweetie. She's very animated, right? And so she's like, she's talking with her hands and she's moving around. And as she, like, points out to somebody in the audience, the shoulder strap of her dress just completely rips. Oh.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Yeah. And as soon as the shoulder strap rips, the whole side of her dress slides all the way down, and she basically flashes the entire reception. Oh, no, it splits open. Best wedding ever. Oh. I mean, like, everybody. obviously, like, gasps, right? And she immediately, like, tries to fix it.
Starting point is 00:15:18 And then we all rush over to help her out, right? And, I mean, I am secretly mortified. Because, exactly, because as soon as that strap broke, I knew that was what I must have heard in the bathroom when I was trying it on. It must have just, like, partially torn when I tried it on. And then, like, just kind of slowly, like, unraveled throughout the course of the wedding day. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:15:45 But at this point, I'm like, I mean, should I even say anything at this point? No. It's not going to change anything. Yeah, you totally should have got up on stage and been like, hey, that was my fault. I ripped the dress. I savagogy. I did it. I think everyone would just have to say reaction to that.
Starting point is 00:16:01 It's like, why would you put on the dress? Yes. Oh, I'm going to say. Oh, God. So were they able to stitch it up and she was able to wear it for the rest of the night? Did she have another dress? Oh, yeah. We have the bride emergency kid off.
Starting point is 00:16:13 obviously. So it's got a safety pants. It's not needle and thread. Duck tape all around the dress. You could see if you could have been a strap. And so the bride, we basically decide that like, oh, it must have been some of the alterations that the seamstress did. That just, like, wasn't quite secured well enough. Yeah. Let the seamstress take the fall for sure. Yeah, that's right. Give her the bad Google review. Oh, man. So that is something that you've never confessed to the bride before? I have never told her.
Starting point is 00:16:45 That was years ago, and she still tells the story about her wedding day all the time. And every time she does, I am, like, mortified. Are they still married, though? You didn't, like, curse their marriage. No, they're still together. I think it might have been good luck, to be honest. They probably had the best wedding night of all time after that happened. It's just like rain.
Starting point is 00:17:08 It's the same type of thing. So now, Albright should tear their dress a little bit on their wedding day. To make it rain. Yeah, there we go. Thank you. It's a little flashing moment at your reception next for a very healthy marriage. Well, good. I mean, all those groomsmen got drunk and dropped their pants at something.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Yeah. It was all kosher. So we absolve you of your wedding day sins there, Jennifer. Thank you for confessing. And text in to 78592 if you have a confession you've been holding on to. We'll hide your identity, mask your voice, and make you our next mask speaker. We got your phone tap coming up right after this. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Time for your prank phone call. And some people say we're living in the golden age of TV. Oh my God. Seriously, there's like so many shows I can't even catch up on the good one. But are they all good or is it like garbage? Well, garbage is kind of good. Yeah, that's the thing. Like, there's such a wide variety of choices now where you could literally watch
Starting point is 00:17:58 600 straight hours of people baking and murdering and renovating and dating and surviving different climates and still have 50,000 more options to watch. I love that reality show that you're talking about. But what would happen if you're facing? favorite streaming service said, Mm-mm. Uh-oh. We're going to tell you what you watch now.
Starting point is 00:18:18 No. I don't think you'd like it very much, because that's what we did to one woman. You'll hear how it goes in your phone tap right now. Brooklyn Jeffrey's phone taps on the 20s. Hello? Hi, this is Scott Pedigrew calling from HBO Max streaming. Is this Danielle?
Starting point is 00:18:36 Hi, yes it is. Hi, Danielle. I'm just calling to say thank you for renewing your subscription to our service. You're welcome Yeah, we saw you did that a few days ago We really appreciate it Can I ask what this is about? Oh yeah, of course
Starting point is 00:18:52 So listen, while we wanted to say thank you And appreciate your loyalty to HBO We are going to be making a few changes Okay, what kind of changes? So in order to promote some of our newer programming We're capping viewership on some of our more popular stalwarts I don't really understand What does that mean for me?
Starting point is 00:19:18 Well, so right now, just looking at your current viewing habits, the show Sex in the City has been, oh, wow. Well, that is quite a number that you've logged. Yeah, it's my favorite show. I can tell. It's 498 hours of watch time just since January 1st. Wow, I didn't even know it was. that much.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Yeah, apparently. Spend quite a bit of time on there. Which brings me to my next point, we are going to have to cap it at 500. What? Yeah, at 500 hours, we're going to have to cut it off,
Starting point is 00:19:55 and you are at 498. That's crazy. That's not usually how streaming services work. I understand that, but we do want to encourage you to watch some of our newer programming. Like, for example,
Starting point is 00:20:09 the sketch comedy series, life Larry and the pursuit of unhappiness Okay, no, I don't want to watch that The reason I have HBO is to watch that. Okay, okay, well hold on, I know you're saying that But you haven't even seen it I've got your viewing schedule right in front of me here Well, yeah, I mean, it just doesn't sound like my kind of show
Starting point is 00:20:27 I don't think you understand it's Larry David But even older and angrier than before Excuse me, are you trying to tell me what I can and cannot watch because that's obviously crossing the line in customer service. You know what? You're absolutely right. I can't tell you what to watch. But if we cut off your favorite shows, then maybe you have a little more wiggle room for a viewing adventure.
Starting point is 00:20:52 That's not okay. If you cut off my favorite shows, that's crazy. I'm on HBO, so I watch Sex in the City. I hear what you're saying, but would you rather watch House of the Dragon Season 3 or Miranda has another Appletini and swears off men again. Wow. I mean, we've seen that. Let's brought it and out, right? You don't have to make fun of sex in the city, number one.
Starting point is 00:21:16 And number two, yeah, that is what I want to watch. I'm just saying that storyline has been repeated multiple times throughout all the seasons. Okay, well, how about you leave Miranda the fuck alone? Oh. She's do whatever she wants. Well, she already does whatever she wants, and she seems to really be flailing with her life. You're obsessed with the show to a concerning degree. like a drug user on fentanyl.
Starting point is 00:21:39 And I'm trying to pull you out of it. Don't you dare try to compare this to me using drugs? Are you f*** crazy? I think you might be misunderstanding what I'm trying to say. No, I think you might be misunderstanding what I'm saying. I am the customer. I pay for this. No, I get that.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I was just trying to use an analogy. And I know they don't have a lot of those in sex in the city. I'm trying to paint one for you. If you keep mocking my favorite show, I'm going to cancel my service. Okay, you're acting like a real Charlotte right now. and I need you to channel your inner Samantha I'm not acting like a Charlotte. Look, I'm done.
Starting point is 00:22:13 I'm not paying for it anymore. Fuck you guys. Wow, okay. Erase my number. I can see I really touched a nerve here. And I didn't expect your friend Adeline to be quite this right about it, but apparently she was.
Starting point is 00:22:24 You don't know her. Well, I guess you're right. I don't know her, but she did ask me to do this prank phone call on the radio on you, so... What? I'm acquainted with her? What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:22:36 You know, it's kind of like a sharp. and big relationship. They're not really friends, but they know about each other, and they help each other out when they need it. Like Adeline needed help, pranking you. Okay. I don't know if that last one worked, but I'm trying to tell you that you're on the radio.
Starting point is 00:22:51 My name is Jeff from Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. We're doing a phone tap on you. God, I was so upset. Adelaide thought you would be. She said that you're totally addicted to that show, and you literally won't watch anything else. Yes, that is accurate And I'm ready to fight
Starting point is 00:23:11 You're a little bit scary when it comes to it You know a lot about the show I'm really embarrassed that you said that But it is true, you're right, I do I am a watcher Well, we should have a watch party sometimes Of life Larry in the pursuit of unhappiness Yes, I'm in
Starting point is 00:23:30 Oh my God Droken Jeffrey's phone taps on the 20s Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning Well, this is probably a bad sign. Our digital producer is setting up cameras in the studio right now, and I don't know why. A photo shoot? We're not doing a photo shoot. We're not scheduled to do any second date call or awkward thing.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Brooks' makeup is, let's just say, taking a mini break right now. I put on red lipstick today. Thank you very much, Jeffrey. I made my point. But apparently, whatever is. about to happen is going to be up on our YouTube at Brook and Jeffrey. Maybe it'll be fun.
Starting point is 00:24:12 Yeah, sure. Why don't we know about it? I don't know. It's being kept a mystery, so get ready for whatever our producer is setting up. He's saying it's going to be a special mystery segment. Don't like that. Why? That's never a good thing. We're going to find out coming up right
Starting point is 00:24:27 after this. This just in, summer's almost officially over. Oh, don't say that. Yeah. It's come and gone. So fast. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. And did we accomplish everything we wanted out of it? No, not really. I mean, did we have some vacation time?
Starting point is 00:24:46 Sure. Did we enjoy fireworks in July? Yeah, I guess. Speaking of fireworks, the summer of cyclospora had things shooting everywhere. Extremely memorable summer. So I guess we lost some weight. Yeah. But I do feel like there's one thing that we missed.
Starting point is 00:25:04 and since the official end of summer is on Tuesday, we don't have a lot of time. We got to do this now. What is it? Are you ready to do a little you wouldn't dare summertime challenge? No! So many listeners have texted.
Starting point is 00:25:20 No. It's over, Jeff. It's not officially over. We did the Ashton living with his parents thing instead of the summer challenges. That was just a personal crisis. That's not a summer challenge. What do you guys think?
Starting point is 00:25:34 Did you think our producer would actually forget about this? We've been doing this for six years now, and we're not just going to take a summer off. And since technically it is still summer, we do have a little bit of time left. He wants to squeak it in there. And this one is going to be a little bit different. We're not filling each other's diapers with mayonnaise and doing sit-ups in a public park. We actually did that, and we should probably post a throwback video over it sometime. It'll be worse than that.
Starting point is 00:26:01 It wasn't diapers. It was just our actual pants. It felt like a diaper when we were done. And we're not having brought to a fast food decathlon. We couldn't afford to do it even if we wanted to. I did go back to Jack in the box. You finally made it back. I'm proud of you.
Starting point is 00:26:15 She got over the trauma. But no, this year, we're doing it right now, right here in the studio. Oh, Ashley. Make you that look fancy. This Ashley. Yeah. So here's what's happening. Four mystery bowls are being brought in studio on a royal platter
Starting point is 00:26:38 And underneath each one is a mystery I don't even know I've not been brought in the loop on this Ashton our technical director has been working on it with our producer And he's the only one who knows what's inside each bowl I didn't want to hate you too Ashton Ashton tell us what's going on Well something that all four of you have in common
Starting point is 00:27:00 Is that all of you are pet lovers Oh my God, we're eating cats and dogs! Open the bowl! I should have not had lunch yet, so let's do it. So to prove that your love for all animals, you are going to sample their food. I'd rather eat the cat or the dog now. And then you give us an extra fancy review where you talk like this using potentious words to describe your... unique dining experience.
Starting point is 00:27:36 You can think we can do that. Oh, yeah. You sound so fancy. I think you can, and I know you will, Alexis. So good luck. This is what we've been reduced to is eating pet food, Ashton. This was your big idea. This is as good as you can get. This is all the
Starting point is 00:27:50 creativity you could deliver. It's the end of summer, Brooke. I don't know what you want for me. So good luck, everyone. May the feast be ever in your favor. Okay. So all the bowls have a number on top of it, and we each have to choose. a number and that's going to be our bowl that we're going to sample we don't have to eat the
Starting point is 00:28:08 whole thing but we're not allowed to use our hands or shake it or try to figure out what's inside so just face down like a dog so Alexis you're going first pick your number number okay number three how are you excited about this all right Alexis as you remove the covering off the top ashton will describe what your summertime meal is and I've heard rumors that are going to actually be worse than others. So take your top up. I can already smell it. Take your top off.
Starting point is 00:28:39 So you're taking your, open the bowl. All right, Alexis, you are going to be eating duck, chicken, and quino-waw-flavored wet dog food. That sounds so good. You get that at like a French restaurant. Can you do it? Do you need something to pee? Yeah, could we get water? It smells so bad.
Starting point is 00:29:00 All right, Alexis, try it. Her hand is shaking. How do dogs look forward to this? Oh my gosh, she ate it! Okay, well, now remember part of your challenge is to do the fancy food review for what flavors you're getting. It's a British accent, right? Sure. Whatever you think is fancy.
Starting point is 00:29:20 It tastes like what it smells like. It tastes like disgusting. Yeah. Like, puke. Like if I ate food, threw it up and then eat it again. Oh. What's dogs like? Yeah, put that on the bag.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Okay. So there you go. Gross. Alexis has completed officially her summertime. You wouldn't dare chowl. Yeah. And I guess that means we're on to Brooke now. I'm sweating. I'm like kind of queasy.
Starting point is 00:29:51 I'm not even lying. Well, time to choose your number. Which bowl are you going to go for? Four. It's looking at me. Okay. Ashton will tell us what's inside. All right, Brooke.
Starting point is 00:30:02 You chose number four. That is chicken flavored cat tree. with the crunchy outside and a creamy inside. Ooh. I mean, you got dry food. Creamy inside, though. Oh, my God. No.
Starting point is 00:30:16 You want me to eat this? All right, let's do a countdown for Brooke. Here we go. Okay. Three, two, one. Oh, my God. Oh, wow, the crunch. At least you got the sound on the mic.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Oh, wow. Oh, Brooke's spitting it out, too. Is it creamy on the inside like it was advertised? Water does it help? Really? Let's do the fancy. food review, Brooke. And make sure to use three of those fancy words.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Shut up, Bastille! There was nothing transcendent or artisanal at all, or refined about this disgusting bowl of rubbish. Oh, okay. I'm getting that she likes it.
Starting point is 00:30:56 That was my accent. Okay. All right. That is disgusting. Was it creamy inside? No, there was no cream. That was only hard. Well, Brooke has completed her challenge and Wow, look at that. We are out of time.
Starting point is 00:31:09 You bet. We are all done. But you know what? Seriously. Luckily for us, it's a two-part segment. For our surprise, you wouldn't dare summertime challenges. What for you is right.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Two more to come as we count down the final few days of summer. What's under the last two mystery bowls? We're about to find out, sample them, and give our fancy pet food reviews. Management if you're listening, cancel us. Right now, cancel the show. We'll do it right after this. God, I wish I had mayonnaise in my pants right now instead of this.
Starting point is 00:31:45 I do too. You haven't even had to do it yet, Judge. If it's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, make sure to subscribe to our YouTube so you can actually watch this. You're going to want to be a part of it. But if you're just joining us, we're squeezing in a last second edition of our annual universally beloved segment that you wouldn't dare, summertime challenge. How is it possibly the worst one we've ever done? Honestly, I would take Jack in the Box, triathlon, decaplalon, whatever, all over again.
Starting point is 00:32:18 They're feeding us for free, and we're complaining about it. It's not for humans, Jeff. But there's still about a week of summer that's left until it's officially over. So right now, for our challenge, we've got a bunch of bowls in front of us with mystery meals inside of them. Those meals are pet food meals. And our task is to sample one, then give it a fancy food review about what we just put in our mouth. And so far, Alexis has done a duck chicken quinoa wet dog food. Very, very fancy sounding.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Brooke, meanwhile, then did chicken-flavored cat treats with a crunchy outside and a gooey interior. There was no cream on the inside. Well, now it is Jose's turn. And Jose, it is time for your fancy pet food review. Which number bowl are you choosing? I think I'm going to go to. All right. I'm nervous for you, Jose.
Starting point is 00:33:14 I'm just going to throw up a meeting. Let's not be nervous. Let's grab bowl number two and put it in front of Jose. So we're going to remove the lid as Ashton tells us what is inside. Jose, you picked number two. You are going to be eating a quail duck and chicken dog jerky. Oh, jerky. Refined.
Starting point is 00:33:34 You love quail. This was locked. Who locked the ball? They're all taped. It's sealed in the flavor. Oh my God. It smells like the foot of a dog expired. Oh.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Like if a dog got game green. Yeah, well, the stinkiest cheeses are usually the most flavorful. So I think that's a good sign. Jose, whenever you're ready, you can sample your dish and then we'll hear your fancy food review. It's a hard junkie, right? It's like a sticky one. It's a sticky jerky. It's not sticky, it's in the middle.
Starting point is 00:34:05 It's moist. Ah, extra flavor. It's not... Well, at least it's not dry. Mine was very dry. Mine was mushy. Honestly, Alexis got the worst one, and that set the tone for me. Like, I am checked out of this.
Starting point is 00:34:18 Okay, but don't finish the whole thing. I want to try some of that when you're done. See, how do you guys joke like that? I don't know that that one looks as bad as the rest of us. It looks like normal jerky to me. It seems like fish food. It seems like, you know, fish food smells like... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Let me get a little. Brooke, we want to smell more? Yeah, that's it. It's fake food. I could see that going inside of me. Anyway. What is it in? So we need to do a countdown.
Starting point is 00:34:41 Oh, my God. Are you ready? Quail duck and chicken. Oh. Does that make it better for you? Actually, theoretically, it should taste pretty good. I could see you doing a food review on your page about this, Jose. No, not on dog food.
Starting point is 00:34:52 I mean, it's a place that hasn't been tapped. They do say, if you want to go viral, niche. Yes. So here we go. This could be your future. Oh, my God. Please don't go viral. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:35:02 Count down from three. Three, two, one. Oh, that's a big bite. Oh, you did a big bite. I'm doing after two. I think he likes it. Oh, God. Was that his fancy accent?
Starting point is 00:35:19 That was. It's like a flavor changer. It's a mystery. Whatever that is also isn't good. Okay. These are expired. O's like, can I get a taste of that a little bit too? No.
Starting point is 00:35:31 No one's going to taste it. No one's going to taste it. Wow, that's wasteful. Okay. How would you describe this in your fanciest review? It tastes ethereally like garbage. Indifurously trash and sumptuously shi. Oh, can I say that?
Starting point is 00:35:54 I think in England that means something else. So it's probably fair. Okay. I spit on it. Jose, I think maybe you. You got off easy, getting some jerky. I got off easier than Alexis. I'll tell you that.
Starting point is 00:36:04 I feel like they're going to smell it in my mouth. Oh, yeah. I'm just going to pull all right. They will. It is my turn. Do we still have time or do we have to go to commercial? Yeah. Well, this is getting an off-air stuff. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:16 So that leaves me with one bowl left. Bowl number one. My eyes are watering from gagging. I'm going to take the lid off. And Ashton described to me what is about to go inside of my body. This is my personal favorite. You are eating steak freets. with beef pumpkin and sweet potato and gravy wet cat food.
Starting point is 00:36:36 What? Oh, cat food. I almost froze that. This definitely looks like it was, it looks like it was predigested for sure. Oh, you just showed it to us. Yeah, it definitely slides slowly around the bowl. This isn't even funny. I don't know why we're doing this.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Okay. Oh, okay. That is disgusting. My face is in my hoodie now. I am so glad. I'm plugging my nose. I actually feel bad for you. It actually looks like capyuk.
Starting point is 00:37:05 You know what? It doesn't smell that bad. It's got fruit chunks in it. It's got little chunks of mango. Don't say chunks. I couldn't even follow Ashen's description. There were so many things listed there. Beef, pumpkin and sweet potato.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Sweet potatoes and pumpkins? In gravy. Oh my God. This could be a PSL if you just put a little coffee in there. I'm about to throw up over years more than mine. Okay. So I think if you're going to eat some pet food, you have to eat it like a pet food. pet. And that means no utensils. I want the authentic experience. Can I get a countdown on it?
Starting point is 00:37:38 Yeah. I do a from a hundred so I don't have to process. My only mouth is watering. Okay. Ready? Three, two, one. I'm not looking. No! Oh my gosh! Okay. Change the station. Change the station. Turn off the video. No, honestly. Oh my God, I'm not looking. It's dripping down your beard.
Starting point is 00:38:05 I'm going to throw up. We've had chili cookoffs here that are much, much worse. Oh my God. Not even kidding. What is what is it? I'm not going to get it again. I don't know what's happening because I'm not watching anymore. I have to throw up.
Starting point is 00:38:20 It's an exquisite after taste. How is anyone attracted to you? Exquisite. Exquisite. Notes of savory, a bit of sweet, a bit of nuttiness. I live in my. And an aftertaste, that's purely reverberant, if I do say so. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:38:39 10 out of 10 stars. 10 out of 10 stars. You wouldn't fit your own dog that. That is nasty. No, I wouldn't. I would keep it for myself. Why would I waste the good meals? I can't look at you the same.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Oh, my God. That was quite delicious. So. You can't see it if you're not watching the video right now. He didn't go in just once full face into this food. Yeah. Like, get a mouthful and have it. Oh.
Starting point is 00:39:02 over his beard, but he went in a second time and had more. There's a little on my microphone. It's in your beard. Oh, my gosh. No wonder if you wanted my beat. Officially, we have. I don't know whether to be impressed or just never talk to you again. That was the worst part of the challenge.
Starting point is 00:39:19 The point is, we've done it. We have completed another year of you wouldn't dare summertime challenges. I like to impress a trade to another morning show. Yeah. Before next summer. None of us were ready for this, but we put our heads together. I can't even look at you. You put your face into the pet.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Our faces in and we did it. I'm hoping personally there's some leftovers. Brooke's already called dibs for her children, I heard. But you can watch the entire video up on our YouTube at Brooke and Jeffrey growing every single day. Subscribe, like, share, unlike, re-like, and share again. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Oh, man. Do you know how jealous my dog bagel is going to be when he sees the video of what we just did? Ew. Jeff, I can't look at you the same. No, honestly. My boy hasn't even brushed his teeth. Or drink water.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Yeah, didn't even swish your mouth out. Why would I get that flavor out? Let it marinate in there. For the amount of time it was stuck in your beard, like, set me over the edge. I'm not lying. There's still some leftover. No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:29 No. I don't want to feed my pets that anymore. I want to give them real food now. Yeah. Now I see why people make the switch. I think all of the dogs and the cats of the world are going to be so envious when you go to our YouTube page and show them this video. Okay. If you had a crush on Jeffrey before, guys, you don't anymore.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Nope, you don't. It's gone. Your pet is going to puke to this video. It's not bad. I'm willing to sell that. Let's give it a try. Okay. The crazy part about you putting your face in that cat food like you did is that you didn't even flinch or grimace.
Starting point is 00:41:00 And I know you really well. There wasn't even a moment where your inner self thought, no, I shouldn't do this. You should have been on Fear Factor. It takes a special kind of person. I just know when the apocalypse comes and it's down to like, uh-oh, we're going to have to turn to cannibalism. I know who's surviving in this room. I would like to die. You can die yourself if you go watch the video.
Starting point is 00:41:24 It's up on our YouTube page at Brooke and Jeffrey. You'd start with someone's foot. That's so gross. That's good stuff. Don't eat and watch this video. Anyway, it's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. The new airline hack that could save you hospital time. If you're lucky, one flight attendant tells you the one must-have item that you need to bring on board.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Plus, Halloween decor is already being sold in stores now, and one mom got quite the surprise when she brought an animatronic home for her child. And when she plugged it in, she wished she never had. Thankfully, we have the audio and you get to hear it before it's banned in all stores during a brand new TikTok ClickShack! It's coming up
Starting point is 00:42:08 right now. It's... Woo! TikTok Click Shock! They're rumored to be dating the long snapper from the Ravens. Wow! Talk about a power couple. It's TikTok ClickShack where we discussed the biggest TikTok
Starting point is 00:42:21 videos from the past week. Let's get right to it with your first TikTok ClickShok, which comes from a mom who's going viral with a warm to fellow parents about a singing Halloween pumpkin. Oh, a warning. And you guys, you guys have probably seen those before. Like, now everything is more animated and animatronic.
Starting point is 00:42:39 So now you don't just have to carve a pumpkin and put it on your doorstep. Now they'll actually sing and dance for your trick or treat. And you have, like, installed lights that go off to the beat. And it's a motion sensor. And this one is called Jabber and Jack. That's a cute name. The mom who bought it thought it'd be a fun decoration to play for her kid and get them ready for the spooky season.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Yeah. Then she heard the lyrics. Oh. And thought, there is something wrong here. What? We're going to play the audio of the jabbering jack-a-lantern singing his song. You be the judge if it's over the line. We'll be wicked for one night.
Starting point is 00:43:17 Warbed and the sun goes down till morning it will judge. How would you like to scream all night? Oh. I'll fill you full of fright Guys you with the darkest deans And spoil you with my roasted pumpkin seeds Oh, okay, that's probably the line of that. I don't see the big deal.
Starting point is 00:43:53 I think that's for an adult's only Halloween party. Yeah. Thank goodness a kid wouldn't get that. Nobody goes home at him. Which part of it was weird to you, Brooke? I mean, psh, wasn't weird. was kind of exciting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:07 If anything, maybe that's PG-13. I mean, telling someone you're going to scare them is one thing, but then telling someone you're going to fill them up
Starting point is 00:44:15 with fright. Yeah. It's a whole angle. I think it's great. The top comment with over 15,000 likes says, you have unfortunately
Starting point is 00:44:23 influenced me to buy him now. I mean, everybody wants their pumpkin seeds roasted. Am I wrong? Oh, yeah. Mommy, why aren't you bringing the pumpkin
Starting point is 00:44:31 out to the living room? Why is it in your bedroom? Yeah. As for the response from the company, they say it's meant to be humorous, but they will cut this song out from future versions of the toy. She ruined it for everybody. That was a TikTok click shock. You're next. Woo!
Starting point is 00:44:47 TikTok click shock! Comes from a flight attendant who went crazy viral after sharing a very specific, not pleasant detail about the reality of flying commercial. So now next time that you're on a plane, you may want to think twice about placing your snack. directly on the tray table. What is duh? Ew, who does that? Yes. Like the raw snack?
Starting point is 00:45:09 Just listen to her video, you'll understand why. People change their kids' diapers on those tray tables on the airplanes. That's why as a flight attendant, I don't ever, like, eat off of those tray tables. I don't put any of my stuff on the tray tables. If I have to, I take, like, a trash bag and I slide it over. Because even wiping it down with Lysol wipes, I don't know. People know this. The area that you wipe down with the Lysol Wipe has to stay wet for 10 minutes for it to actually be, like, fully effective.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Why do people do this? Why do people change this? our kids dirty diapers on tray tables where people are going to be putting their stuff and eating because they don't think. That is so gross. I've never seen that on a plane. Because they can't get up, you know? Yeah. Or the bathroom line is crazy. I don't know. I'm not grossed out by the baby diaper. I'm grossed out by who pours their food onto the tray. Like in the video, she says, if you must eat on the plane, what she does is put an entire trash bag over her tray table because it's the only way she sees it is safe. And no one around you is going to think that's weird. Yeah. I'm just going to put my snacks on the floor. I remember there was a brief moment during right after COVID where they were giving you Lysol wipes. Yeah, I love that.
Starting point is 00:46:10 I miss it. Yeah, and you wipe the little, the air nozzle. By the time you take off and get it back up in the air, that's been 10 minutes. We're good to go. That's a good point. Use that thing as a dinner plate by then. She also noted if you bring a PBNJ for your kid on a plane, just tell them to eat it off their lap and don't even let them open the tray table. Plus, she said, please be kind when attempting to hand dirty diapers.
Starting point is 00:46:33 and puke bags to the airline staff. Let them get gloves on first, or you can place it directly in the trash bag yourself. Or go long. Yeah. That's fun. I guess a lot of passengers just want to hand it right to them. Like, here, take this now.
Starting point is 00:46:51 That makes sense. I can see that. They'll get offended when the flight attendant doesn't grab it with an ungloved hand. Oh, is my throw-up not good enough for you? That was a TikTok click shock. And your final... TikTok Click Shock!
Starting point is 00:47:03 is a good news story out of the UK about a man who spent more than a decade homeless. Aww. So people at a local church did a go-fund me and got him a permanent cardboard box. What? Oh my gosh. You mean it's a house, right? Sorry. That's awful.
Starting point is 00:47:22 I'm sorry. Wrong story. Wrong story. Jeff. No, this one's also about a guy from the UK, a 34-year-old who spent over a decade homeless. But he found himself a permanent home and not. national recognition after a video of him playing piano at church went viral. Oh, I love this.
Starting point is 00:47:39 So his name is Reese Wynne Jones, and here's his rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody on the church piano. How long is this? I want the talking pumpkin. I want to talk a pumpkin to sing about roasted seeds over that thing. That would be way better. But yeah, that clip went viral, and he was asked to perform at a charity show last month. Cool. helped raise $54,000 to help fight homelessness.
Starting point is 00:48:25 And then he was able to start performing concerts all across the UK, earned enough money through that to afford his own residence. But I play chopsticks in the middle of church, and I find, if it kick me out. Doesn't hit the same. No. No. There's no silhouette with the other men. Plus in the middle of a funeral. Yikes.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Yeah, different. Those were your. TikTok ClickShops. Stories for the week. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. We've got a return player joining us today. Tara has lost to Brooke eight times before. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:49:08 She's terrible. She did win once, so there's a chance that it won't be a total embarrassment today. But Tara, it's great to have you back. Welcome to the show once again. Thank you. What big has happened in your life since the last time you're on with us? I went to the prices right. I think I hadn't talked to you guys.
Starting point is 00:49:26 That was last in my truck view. We didn't get on the show, but we had a blast, and then we went to the Monterey car week after that, the week after that. Did you drive your new car that you won on the Price's Right? I wish. We took my husband's vet, so that was almost this night. So you didn't need to win a new car. Oh, we lost the prices right, so we took the vet to Monterey.
Starting point is 00:49:48 But we brought the Lambo back. It was fine. Tara, you're calling in on a lucky day because we actually have the mayor of Fairview, Texas in studio with us right now. For real. Are there any laws that you want to pass in Fairview? Because he's the one that you want to speak with. We do have that type of power today.
Starting point is 00:50:07 Yeah. Well, you know what? I noticed in Texas as everybody is very polite. I was going to say, hold the door for the person behind you, but they actually do that in Texas. No work for Dr. John over here. All right. Made his life easy. Let's send Brooke out of the studio so we can get to the game.
Starting point is 00:50:22 You got 30 seconds to answer as many questions as possible. If you don't know when you can say pass, but you have to beat Brooke. out right if you want to win. Are you ready? Okay. All right. I'm taking that as a yes. Your time starts now. On this day in 1985, who resigned as chairman of Apple Computers?
Starting point is 00:50:38 Steve Jobs. What company uses the slogan, the best a man can get? Gillette. The word wiki in Wikipedia comes from a Hawaiian word meaning what? Uh,
Starting point is 00:50:50 waste. I don't know. In terms of square miles, which is bigger, Florida or England? Florida. Cal L is the birth name of what famous superhero? Um, oh, uh, Batman. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:51:07 That is a superhero answer. Now, fun fact about Tara, she's retired, but she's going to be traveling to Japan in about a week. Wow. Says she's going for the food, but hates sushi. Yeah. Oh, that's the mecca on. I'm not sure what's left. But you did tell our producer.
Starting point is 00:51:26 you're going to try some while you're there. Why are you doing that? I will try some. I don't know. I'm just hoping it'll taste different. Because it's like the best. Is it a texture thing for you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:36 It is. It is absolutely a texture thing. You know what they love in Japan? You just tell them I'm American, fry all my fish. And they'll just drop all your sushi and a fry or not. And they love it. Okay. Oh, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:51:49 They're just like, wow. We wish we had more American demanding tourists. You respect my culture. And now eat with my pork. Yeah, and you know with the pork. Stomp all over our culture. We love it. And please add cheese.
Starting point is 00:52:01 Right? He's not be banned from the country. Good work, Tara. It is Brooke's turn. Brooke, are you ready? Yes. Your time starts now. On this day in 1985,
Starting point is 00:52:12 who resigned as chairman of Apple computers? Steve Jobs. What company uses the slogan The best a man can get? Gillette. The word wiki in Wikipedia comes from a Hawaiian word meaning what? Knowledge.
Starting point is 00:52:25 In terms of square, Miles, which is bigger? Florida Florida. Cal L is the birth name of what famous superhero? Superman. Which is the least used letter in the English alphabet? X.
Starting point is 00:52:41 That's probably not right. Okay. Good job there. Brooke, we got our answers in. It's time to head on over to the scoreboard to see how you both did with her own. Jose. It's terrible. She has beautiful eyes and her hair smells like cinnamon. Balanos. Terra. You got three correct today.
Starting point is 00:52:58 That's pretty good. Pretty good. This could be your second win of all time against Brooke. Tara got three. I don't know why I'm kind of nervous right now. Brooke? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Four. Oh, man. Poor Tara. Oh, God. I'm sorry, Tara. Let's go over the answers to everybody. On this day in 1985, Steve Jobs resigned as chairman of Apple computers,
Starting point is 00:53:22 but would later return in 1997. Yeah, he's had to get his outfit right. Yeah. lock it in the company with the slogan the best of man can get would be Gillette the word wiki in Wikipedia comes from the Hawaiian word meaning fast or quick oh sounds like a quick search yeah that makes sense in terms of square miles Florida is bigger than England Florida 65,000 square miles England is only 50,000 Cal L's the birth name of Superman and the least used letter in the English alphabet
Starting point is 00:53:52 would be the letter z used in 0.0.0.0.0.000 7% of words. Oh, man. That sucks. Yeah. I'm trying to use it more. I like it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:03 I appreciate it. I'll start calling you Zach. I'm sorry. It was not enough to beat Brooke today, but just for playing, we are going to give you a pair of tickets to see Kay Lani perform at Climate Pledge Arena on September 27th. Oh, I love, love, love, love Kaylani. When you go to Japan, can you do us one favor? Can you convert one person to a Brooke and Jeffrey podcast listener? I will.
Starting point is 00:54:27 All right. Just play it loudly in the streets. Again, they love Americans when they do things like that. Yeah, as loud as possible. As loud as you can, get people's attention. And then if they tell you to turn it down, yell at them. I mean, it's the true American way. You're right, you're right.
Starting point is 00:54:42 Tara, awesome, having you back on the show. Come back and do it again soon. Enjoy Japan. We're going to do Winbrooks' bucks. Same time tomorrow. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
