Starting point is 00:01:41 podcasts. Hi, I'm Sam Mullins, and I've got a new podcast coming out called Go Boy, the gritty true story of how one man fought his way out of some of the darkest places imaginable. Roger Caron was 16 when first convicted. Has spent 24 of those years in jail. But when Roger Caron picked up a pen and paper, he went from an ex-con to a literary darling. From Campside Media and iHeart podcasts, listen to Go Boy on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You Feeling This Too is a horror anthology podcast. It brings different creators to tell 10 vile grotesque horrific stories
Starting point is 00:02:31 on what scares them the most you're feeling this too listen on the iHeartRadio app Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts Hey, welcome to your weekend a little extra treat on a Sunday. It's Brooke and Jeffrey the second date of the podcast I don't you do I know you do And before we get to a say yes to the X that I think you're gonna just find amazing Yeah, memorable memorable. I'm sure I'd love to read this comment from Skylar Anderson. It says been listening to these for three years and had nobody to talk to about it.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Oh, but now you're all over tick tock so I can finally not be ashamed to be a face. Dude, I heard somebody that was like, look, I knew you guys before you were cool and viral. Okay. These people all stayed quiet. They're like, I've never listened to them. They're like, God, this is such garbage radio. Don't tell anyone. And now you can even buy our merch. That's right. Don't reminder elections.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Hey, it's Sunday. Spend some of that money for a good cause. 100% of the proceeds do go to charity. And again, the link is in the show notes. Only available for a couple more weeks. So make it happen now if you want that second date update merch. And we'll get your say yes to the X started right now It can be frustrating when your significant other doesn't clearly tell you what it is they want or need from you
Starting point is 00:03:56 Yeah, yeah, for sure. I know Brooke never understands her husband's needs now to be fair It could because of the gag in his mouth and the dark cloth bag over his head So everything kind of comes out as a mumble Michael Anyway you get the point and scream twice One of our listeners is facing a similar communication issue with her relationship All she's asking for is some clarity and And in her words, quote, man up and just say it. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Oh, that's aggressive. Also sounds like broken. Yeah. You'll hear exactly what she wants in a brand new Say Yes to the Ex. It's coming up right after this. It's one of the stranger emails that we've received lately. Ooh, I like the start of this already, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:04:43 What do you got? When I first read it, I thought, oh, this is a second date update. Yeah. But then I realized, no, actually, maybe it's more of a closure call. Oh, OK, those are nice. But not really. So I landed on say yes to the X. OK. And when our producer reached out to the listener and said, hey, your story would be great for say yes to the X
Starting point is 00:05:06 She replied well technically he's not my ex So at this point this is say yes to the Because we're not really sure how to label this relationship exactly hopefully Vicky can help clear things up for us Vicky welcome to say yes to the eh. How you doing? Thank you, I'm good, how are you? Well I could squeeze you into the show somehow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Okay, here's my question. When you're talking to your girlfriends about whoever this is, how do you refer to him? By his name. Oh. Okay. That's hot. what's his name? His name is James
Starting point is 00:05:49 Okay, and tell us about yours and James's relationship Is it fair to call it a relationship or is that not a good word even friendships or relationships? Yes, there is a relationship So we went on about five, maybe six dates and really seemed to hit it off. And how long ago was this? I'm sorry. This was about, about eight months ago.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Okay, not that long ago. Okay. So after one of our dates, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Okay, so okay. We are so in the relationship territory right now. So yeah, that sounds like you guys are official. Right, so about seven months ago, we had a date and he was supposed to come, you know, home with me.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Like it was time we were in official relationship. You're gonna have a meet the family, say hi to your parents, is that what you mean? I think back to her, like her apartment. Oh! Meet the bed, Brooke, meet the bed. I'm sorry, I get that done way before in relationship status.
Starting point is 00:06:57 My bad, my bad. That's the first seven seconds for most of bookstates. Okay, okay, so you guys were going to, I see, do the thing that Back to your... Than adults do. It was time. That's right, and all signs were pointing there, so I was really shocked when James just said,
Starting point is 00:07:16 never mind, he was gonna go home, and he just left me on my doorstep. What? He didn't come in at all? No, he just said he changed his mind, he can't stay and just had to go. Change your mind hurts, like make up something. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:07:34 What are you feeling in that moment? Really confused and hurt because I haven't heard anything from him. Yeah, so since he initiated the conversation about like we're in a relationship and he's the man in the situation, I feel like we're still in a relationship. Are you not considering an ex because the total time you guys spent officially as boyfriend and girlfriend was less than 48 hours? No, did you just hear she's not considering an ex because she thinks she's still in a relationship because he never called it off
Starting point is 00:08:08 Yeah, he hasn't that's right. I'm not sure if it really works Theoretically it makes sense, but seven months of silence is a pretty clear message. What do you think? I Have no idea what happened and I that's why I'm reaching out to you because I feel like he needs to tell me like Are we still in a relationship? Have you gone to his house or anything? Yeah, I feel like gone through his mail and stuff No, yeah, I would track him down to your boyfriend, right?
Starting point is 00:08:44 Like a day Missing person I went by his place a couple of times it didn't look like he was there But I didn't do anything about it like I didn't stalk him or anything I got good self-restraint I just feel like he owes me an explanation Or closure you want some closure you do need closure This is the people are new to this segment say yes to the X basically we get an email from someone in this case It's Vicky they want us to reach out to their quote X in this case James Who's not really the X and the thing is we've already done that
Starting point is 00:09:19 James has agreed to come on our show knowing that someone from his past is looking for him He doesn't know doesn't know who it is Well, we don't tell him any details ahead of time we just say there's someone from your past or the title of the segment yeah Do you still want to be in a relationship with him? I am in a relationship with him Because he hasn't broken up with you yet I wonder how he's gonna feel about it when we bring him on my girlfriend I mean what connection have you had with him in the past seven months has there been anything at all?
Starting point is 00:10:06 Last week I posted a photo of us on Instagram. What? Like a picture of you two looking like a couple Yeah You're in a relationship you can voice your boyfriend whenever you want. Alright, this is starting to feel not quite as healthy as we started. Really? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:23 I don't see the problem, what's the problem? Yeah, Brooke, explain. Yeah, what is it? Yeah, Brooke, everything looks fine. It's just, you know, some people are, let's say, not strong enough to actually break up a relationship face to face. These are the Brooks in the world, okay?
Starting point is 00:10:37 I'm just saying. I think these are more like me in the world. Him ghosting you, I think, is his way of saying that he's not in the relationship anymore. Well, that's why I contacted you guys. He needs to like say what he wants and be with me or be a man and say what's up. Even if he says, I don't want to be with you and I didn't know how to say it, and that's it? That's okay? That would be saying no to the ex. Remember Jose, this is saying yes to the ex. But we have room for a new segment.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Yeah, we can create another one. So depending on how this goes, we'll find out. We're going to talk to your X, but not really X. Your current. Your current significant other, James, possibly, and see what he says when we continue. Say yes to the eh, right after this. We're in the middle of a segment called Say Yes to the Ex or at
Starting point is 00:11:28 least for today it's Say Yes to the Ehh because our listener Vicki went out with a guy half a dozen times at which point he asked her to be official boyfriend girlfriend. She was super excited about that idea said yes the next date He left her standing on the doorstep of her house in the pouring rain You're making up the way it was some 90s indie song happening in real life That was seven months ago, and they've had no contact since and no official breakup talk either That's why Vicky still considers them to technically be together Brooke. What's your take on the situation? Well, I mean I can understand her need for closure. That's hard, but she doesn't want to close it
Starting point is 00:12:16 She wants to keep it open. Yeah, I don't know that that's gonna happen I think that the picture she posted on Instagram of them as a happy couple, honestly, Vicki, I'm hoping he didn't see that. Did, what do you mean? What do you mean? Well, it could come off as maybe. Maybe what, Brooke? Say it, say it, we're all thinking it.
Starting point is 00:12:36 A little clingy. There it is. Like romantic? Yes. Oh yeah, that's a good word for clingy. You know, I'm never I'm never Shocked by Brooks unrelenting optimism in these situations. That's why we love having you So hard right now
Starting point is 00:12:57 It is coming through so remember Vicki we've already reached out to James He has agreed to be on with us, but he does not know exactly who it is He only knows it's somebody from his past No present Well, yeah present but also past seven months ago. You haven't talked to him in a long time. I Have driven by his house. I told you that right? Well, these are some of the details I might not include when I talk to him We'll just see how the conversation goes. I'll call you in when we feel like we're ready. Okay. Almost the same as us. Well, these are some of the details I might not include when I talk to him. We'll just see how the conversation goes.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I'll call you in when we feel like we're ready, okay? Okay. All right, here we go. Let's punch up James here. James, hello, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. Hey, James. We're Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Thanks for being on with us. Good morning, James. Hey, James. Hi. Yeah, thanks for having me. Yeah. I bet you were excited when you Hey, James. Hi. Yeah, thanks for having me. Yeah. I bet you were excited when you got our email. Yeah, I'm definitely curious, that's for sure.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Yeah, so I know it's kind of unusual, but we do this segment here. It's called Say Yes to the Ex. And basically the idea is somebody from your romantic past wanted us to reach out and reconnect you. Okay. Okay. So you get the concept. This is a woman named Vicki. Do you remember Vicki? Vicki? Yeah. No that doesn't sound familiar guys. Do we have the right person? Did you email the wrong person? The number is right
Starting point is 00:14:27 You're James Yeah, this is James, but I don't know who Vicky is. Okay, maybe it's Victoria Like did we get her name wrong? The last time you saw her you were over at her place and you said no to staying the night That was seven months ago. I don't know what you're talking about. Wait, hold up. Do you have any memory loss issues? Have you hit your head? Do you date a lot? Is that it? Are you like going on tons of dates?
Starting point is 00:14:55 I've been on a couple of dates, but I wouldn't say so many I would forget someone. Okay, look. So wait, your name, James is correct. Your phone number is right. It's weird that you have no recollection of what we're talking about the person who? Should be able to shed some light on this for us is your quote ex Vicky Vicky still thinks she's in a relationship with you And you don't even know why don't you talk to her because she is on the phone right now waiting to speak with you Vicky are you there? with you. Vicki are you there? I am. Hey James it's me Vicki. Hi you're saying we dated? Yes on The Sims our characters went out. What? Did she say on The Sims the video game? Yeah, you just disappeared. I haven't seen you anywhere
Starting point is 00:15:46 And I just need to know are we still together James? Oh my god Why did you respond to this email? Did you do no research into any of this Jeff don't pin this on me? Are you kidding me? You're the whole one that's like oh, yes You could have done some back With the guys six times and that they had an official talk. Did you ask about in person? You never ask those questions either, Brooke. Where's our producer? Yeah, what is happening?
Starting point is 00:16:16 Wait, James, you're still there, right? Yeah, I'm here. So you're talking about our characters in The Sims. Oh. Yeah. Ricky. So you're talking about our characters in The Sims? Yeah After our Sims became official we went on one date and then you left Do you plan on taking me out or you just ghosting me? Vicky I have to ask a question after in the last seven months when you went by His house what is was it driving by his virtual house or his real house? His virtual house of course
Starting point is 00:16:51 Okay So you don't know where he lives in real life? No Hey can I, can I, in a little bit of defense and I'm not kidding when I say this Sometimes when you play video games with somebody every day you form relationships So I can see why she could feel some serious feelings here what you do relationship wise with your Pokemon is your business We're talking about Vicky and James here James. Do you recall who this is? Did you did you have pink hair?
Starting point is 00:17:19 person Remember okay, look I I didn't know your name was Vicky, first of all, but I didn't want to tell you at the time. I actually ended up meeting someone else in the game. What? Wait, your character met another character? I did, and we are still together. But you were official with V me. Are you kidding me? What is her name?
Starting point is 00:18:00 We looked so perfect together James you want to give the name of your new sim girlfriend? I'm nervous too now Don't do that Definitely don't James I can't believe you're like It's interesting It's interesting that you're also entertaining the new relationship as a relationship
Starting point is 00:18:24 Well it is It's just that you're also entertaining the new relationship as a relationship. Well, it is. It's just in a different world. This is a virtual game. Jeff, it's called a game because it's to be played. It's not to be taken seriously. It's real to me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Okay. And that's all that matters. It's not. That is a problem. That is a problem. Well, I think it's sweet that Vicky is so adamant about this virtual relationship and she wants to keep it going.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Well, he's in another one already. Vicky. Well, yeah. I don't know. You could probably have as many partners as you want if you're a Sims character. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:57 It doesn't mean you're not monogamous, Brooke. Don't bring your real life situation into the virtual world, Brooke. Yeah, Brooke. Yeah, I don't sleep around there. I'm sorry. OK.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Oh, can you? Yeah. Hey, good, man. You're a good guy. It's nice to meet an upstanding person once on this show. So James, normally I would ask in this situation if there was any chance that your Sim would consider getting back with Vicky's Sim.
Starting point is 00:19:23 That is not normally anything anyone would do, Jeff. I'm just saying. We can pay for it! We can do Sims Bucks or something! It sounds like you are already spoken for, you're a very loyal person in the Sim world. Nobody's discussed the real world relationship though. Like, are you open to meeting Vicky out in the real world for an actual date? What? I'm sorry, I don't date in the real world. What? Wait. what do you mean listen I'm busy enough with my sims girlfriend I don't have time in the real
Starting point is 00:19:52 world world so man I'm sorry okay well there's always hope that maybe James and his virtual girlfriend won't work out and you see some pink hair hiding out of a virtual cops in the morning the biggest stars in country music will be taking the stage an hour Call the virtual cops.
