It took an army of internet detectives to uncover a disturbing pattern.

If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Listen to thanks, Dad, on the IHeart Radio. app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, we got it for you. A brand new one. I know you love those new episodes. Thank you so much for finding the second date podcast. It's Brooklyn Jeffrey in the morning. And I think you're going to enjoy today. I do. You think so? Yeah, I guess we probably shouldn't post it if we all thought it sucked. But here we go. What do we got in the comment section, Alexis? Yeah, Casparava said, my ex-boyfriend and I were together for four years and he introduced me to you guys. But then we broke up. So I had to stop listening for a little while. Oh, it
Starting point is 00:03:29 But I'm doing better now and I'm finally all caught up. And just so you know, we don't listen to him anymore. We chose you. That's right. We love you. We're happier with us. He's a dirtbag. You want us in the breakup.
Starting point is 00:03:40 When he listens, the volume goes weird, something glitches. Yeah, don't worry. He sucks, isn't we? Yeah. All right. Your brand new episode starts right now. Brook and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Today, we've got a lovely woman named Tori joining us. And Tori says she's doing her date a favor. by giving him another chance. Hey, okay. Probably something he doesn't even deserve. What? That's according to her email. Those are her words, not mine.
Starting point is 00:04:08 It's either going to be he did something really bad or she's really entitled. I'm not sure. Both of those sound like good scenarios to me. So let's find out. Tori, welcome to the show. And I appreciate you being generous and humble enough to make the first move using our help, of course. So tell us about the guy that made you want to do that. Hi.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Yeah. So I matched with Chad on, honestly, more than one dating app over the last six months. Wait, what? That's funny. Oh. The same guy? How is that? It feels like if you commit to one dating app, you should stick with just that one.
Starting point is 00:04:41 But I don't know. Well, it's hard out here on the streets, okay? Yeah, it's a numbers game, Brooke. Cast a wide net, get as many matches as you can from as many different sites as you do. Which is obviously the same people on all the sites. You're all matching with Chad. They're all the same strategy. Literally.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Yeah. And I had unmatched him before. He was basically begging, like, give me one shot. And I was like, okay, well, maybe this can be my good karma. Okay, we have a question. Do all guys have to beg and plead to get a date with you? Or was there something wrong with Chad where you didn't think you liked him? Not all guys need to beg and plead, but he was just like, you know, he wasn't the hottest guy, but he was cute enough.
Starting point is 00:05:23 And I was like, you know what? I've been out here searching for perfection. obviously that's not working for me. So I can get a project. Oh, God. All right. What's wrong with that? I don't want him to hear this.
Starting point is 00:05:36 I'm sorry. I'm overwhelmed how romantic it was. I know a lot of construction workers, Brooke, who love projects. And that doesn't make them bad people. All right? So keep going. Yeah. So I was like, okay, well, I'll go out with you.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And I was honestly a little bit disappointed that he just wanted, like, a regular restaurant date. Oh. Like a restaurant is so gauche, you know. What does ghost mean? Like yawn. Like everyone does that. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I like this. A new word. We're learning. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, so gauche. Yeah. Love it. Did you get ghosted? So you were expecting more than a restaurant, but that was what you were given.
Starting point is 00:06:15 That was what I was given. And you know what? If it was a train wreck, it wouldn't last all night. I knew it would only be a set amount of time. Okay. Okay. So you are willing to settle at every turn. I'm willing to just.
Starting point is 00:06:26 have this steakhouse. You've been so brave in this so far, Torrey. We're all very admiring. So tell us about how the restaurant went. So he overed me to the restaurant. That was nice. And then like, right when I met him, I was like, okay, his style could be a little bit better. But honestly, what guys can't?
Starting point is 00:06:46 Yeah, but clothes are an easy fix. Yes, I think it's a break for that. Okay, that's nice of you. We're at the restaurant, and he tries to order scallops off of the. menu and I was like, honey, this isn't a seafood place. That is the last thing you want to do. We had pasta and wine instead. Oh, that is really good advice.
Starting point is 00:07:06 He ordered and you shamed him in the middle of his order and he changed this? I mean, yes, but like I didn't shame him. Honestly, I was saving his life. Like, ordering seafood and not a seafood restaurant is dangerous. I mean, you don't go to Applebee's for the oysters. No, I mean, he was like, thank you. Like, that's so true. And I was like, yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:07:25 So aside from his terrible choice in food and fashion, what did you like? What did you guys connect on? I like talking to him. You know, he's talked a lot about a childhood, which I always like to do because I feel like you can learn a lot about a person. And honestly, his upbringing was just kind of like simple, but I have heard of people who have gone to public schools and go on to make something of themselves. And I think he's doing that.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Oh. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. What's so funny? You haven't heard of people going to public schools? Public schools are amazing schools. I went to both. I went to Caliq School until I got kicked out.
Starting point is 00:08:00 And then I went to public school because I had to. And neither system wants to claim Jose. Okay. So he's making something of himself despite disadvantages in his upbringing. Totally, which is like it's so commendable. Like, I can admire that. Wow. So his greatest hill he's climbed is going to public school.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Guys, give her a little bit of credit. At least she's not saying, oh, it's a deal breaker. Like, she's not. I know. She's bending her little standard. I'm scared when she is staying to him. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:34 You've made a lot of sacrifices for Chad. And I think that's, it's a big thing for you to do. How did you end the date? It was better than I had expected. And, like, by the end, I honestly, I was seeing him a little bit differently. Oh, that's good. Okay. I like the, you're open to seeing people for who they.
Starting point is 00:08:54 are. That's great. Or seeing him in a different outfit possibly. In the future. That'd be nice. I mean, was there a kiss or did he just get you another Uber home? No, we hugged outside the restaurant and then that's the last that I've heard from him. Oh. Have you texted him?
Starting point is 00:09:10 No, I don't do that. I am surprised, like he didn't check in at all and it's been like four days, so this is quite rare for me. Like, this doesn't really happen. Maybe he has the same role you have and you're on a standoff right now. Someone's waiting for the first text. I feel like that is probably pretty common
Starting point is 00:09:26 in getting. Yeah. Still. Yeah, well, if you don't like me, then I'm not going to text you either. It is very unbecoming public school behavior of him to leave you on right like that. It's public medical etiquette to not text. Yeah, I would never do that. So, Torrey... I do think it's
Starting point is 00:09:40 like a male chivalry etiquette thing. He needs to. It is disgusting. You're right. So let's call him. No, she means it's his job to... No, whatever. We're going to get to the bottom of this, and we're going to take the reins. We will dial up, Chad, and figure out why he has the nerve
Starting point is 00:09:56 to not be calling you back after four days. How chivalrous of you, Jeffrey. Thank you. You are welcome. We're going to do it with your second date update right after this. Hold on. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update.
Starting point is 00:10:09 How many glaring red flags can one woman ignore in the pursuit of finding a decent guy? For our listener, Tori, she's looked past at least four that we've counted. Goodness. Red flags for her.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Yeah. Still, those counts. One, his clothes. Two, his dinner selection of scallops at a non-ceafood restaurant. I thought you're going to say that he even picked a restaurant to begin with, Jeff. Even that. That was a borderline pink flag. Three, his simple public school upbringing.
Starting point is 00:10:39 And four, the fact that he's rudely not texted her after almost one full business week. Wow. That is not cool. Or as Tori would say, that is so gauche. Yeah, it's gosh. But just like her selfless, generous self, Tori's willing to give him one more chance and has asked us to reach out to chat on her behalf.
Starting point is 00:11:02 I mean, Tori, has it ever crossed your mind that he is just so intimidated by your perfection that that's why he hasn't called you? Honestly, that is what my mom said. Oh, I bet. Sounds like something your mom would say. Well, hopefully we can convince him that you're not too good for him. Yeah, you guys are equals.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Well, we're not going to cut you down. We're going to lift him up higher. There you go, Jeff. Thank you. That is so kind of you. I don't know. We'll see how this goes. I'm just going to dial Chad's number and hopefully he has the respect to pick up the phone number of a call that he doesn't recognize.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Fingers crossed. I'm sure a public school kid would always pick up a call from a number they don't know. Let's find out. I'm going to dial it right now. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Chad? Speaking.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Wow. You picked up really early there. And energetically. You did. I'm actually already working. That's why. Who is this? Yeah, this is a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:12:03 Yeah, good morning. You sound so likable, Chad. Good morning. Why are you guys calling me? We're calling because we're doing a segment. It's called a second date update. And we're trying to get some answers for one of our very confused listeners who went out with you recently. A woman named Tori.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Oh, wow. and this is on the radio. You mean, wow, Tori, right? Wow. Wow, what a knockout. Right, right, yeah. But to answer your earlier question, yes, it is on the radio. And podcast.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Okay. What is it all about? Well, Tori is a little confused because after your restaurant date, she says you haven't reached out to her at all. Tori hasn't reached out to me either. Oh, she doesn't do that. Yeah, that's not really her thing. It's not her job, bro. That's your job.
Starting point is 00:12:55 She'll only reach out to radio stations who then reach out to it. That seems like her. Oh. What is that supposed to mean? Yeah. I mean, she is a perfect example of why I'm just so sick of dating in the day area. Oh. Huh?
Starting point is 00:13:14 Jeez. What do you mean, though? What do you mean so sick of dating? Like, that sounds negative. She's just like any of the other 49. that are out here. Okay. Are you talking about the football team?
Starting point is 00:13:25 Yeah, she's a football fan. The NFL team? No, no, 49ers is a term here where a girl is actually a four, but she's acting like she's a nine. Oh. And maybe a goldsigger. I like it. Oh. That is not positive.
Starting point is 00:13:43 I'm telling you, it's a term in the Bay Area. I'm telling you. Wait, wait, wait. You don't find Tori attractive. Is that what you're saying? She's fine. It's just, look, I know I'm not the best-looking dude, but like, I cannot handle a 49er. Oh, so, so the fact that she thinks she's the best thing ever.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Right at the beginning of the day and I could tell something was wrong with her, so I asked what happened, and she was like, you called me an Uber, but it wasn't an Uber black. Oh. You mean, which, of course, she followed up with, thank you. Guys, I've never taken an Uber black in my life. Oh, yeah. Well, we heard you went to public school, so you probably wouldn't. You were a little bit of free. I'm kidding, Chad.
Starting point is 00:14:28 I also went to public school. I'm kidding. You heard that I went to public school? Well, we were just. It was a joke. There was a lot of obstacles to overcome during this date. For her. So, okay.
Starting point is 00:14:41 So right from the very beginning, did you make up your mind? I'm a go with the flow kind of guy. So, like, I didn't try and put too much stock into it. I just thought, like, huh, I've never actually taken. an Uber black. That's crazy. Like, noted. Like, make a little mental note. So was there anything else? We got to the restaurant. We sat down.
Starting point is 00:15:00 She asked, like, how many courses are we getting? I was like an appetizer and just like get what you want, right? You want to take this toast with your spaghetti? Yes. There's two courses right there. Texas toast is so good. She wanted a moose boosh, a pre-starter. But she hasn't probably tried to.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Texas toast before and that's why she doesn't know she wants it. They don't serve Texas toast at the restaurant she goes to. Or at the private schools, yeah. That's what I'm saying. It's better. Okay, so all of this put together was kind of a turnoff to you. It sounds like, Chad. I mean, all these things just kept going on throughout the entire night where she just
Starting point is 00:15:39 had this, like, air about her and it, you know, made her a 49er. Okay. Wait, wait, maybe that's, I mean, maybe it's just she was raised wealthy. That's not her fault. I mean, honestly, it's not. She didn't choose it. And it's probably just the lifestyle she lives. It was really just like a vibe thing.
Starting point is 00:15:57 Like when she was talking about these things, it's not about like what she was saying. It's about how she was saying it. Like greater than thou kind of. Exactly. I am curious on what she would say and how she would say it to you once we bring her on the phone right now. I feel actually kind of bad. Because she has been listening to this conversation the entire time. No way.
Starting point is 00:16:16 What kind of trap is this? It's in a moose-boosh trap. Tori, are you there? I don't think I used that right. Did you call me a 49er? Oh, my God. You doing okay, Tori? Actually, kind of, no.
Starting point is 00:16:36 That is so beyond rude. Yeah. He didn't know you were listening, Tori. He was trying to be honest and maybe a little funny. I don't know. You would think that when somebody's talking behind someone's back, they're not going to be that mean. Yeah, you're one to talk about being rude.
Starting point is 00:16:53 I'm calling the kettle black. You mean the Uber black. What? Right, right, right, right. What do you mean, Chad? I've been perfectly nice. Like, I gave you a chance. Tori, at one point in the date, you were just like, so is that jacket secondhand shop or what?
Starting point is 00:17:12 Oh, wow. But that's really in right now to do second-air shopping. Vintage is trending. Did you maybe not take the things that I said in the right way because you went to a public school? I don't know. What did that even mean? What's the whole like public school thing? Well, it means that you don't understand subtext, Chad.
Starting point is 00:17:32 What? Public schools are great. What are you guys talking about? We're joking. You use the word subtext, though, when it confused. I do think that you're being as close-minded as you felt like she was right now. Wow. Well, I mean...
Starting point is 00:17:48 Sometimes when you feel rejected by someone or judge by someone, the natural response is to reject them and judge them back. Absolutely. Yeah, I totally get that. And honestly, Daddy would say the same thing. Your daddy? Who? Who? Is your boyfriend or actual daddy?
Starting point is 00:18:03 I think that's her real daddy. My father, excuse me? Yeah. Sorry. It's a common term around here. Yeah, okay. I mean, maybe she can do the more normal life stuff with you, Chad. And then she can also introduce you.
Starting point is 00:18:17 to more of the higher end things that weren't accessible. Like a reverse My Fair Lady. Yeah. Let her pick the restaurants and then you can like take her fishing. Remember My Fair Lady where he takes the poor woman and he shows her the finer things in life? Yes. A classic. Who has not seen My Fair Lady?
Starting point is 00:18:33 Exactly. Tori gets it. I don't. I don't know. It was part of my senior thesis. I really appreciate that I don't feel like going through a relationship being Torres Blaineed. Oh, Torres Blaine. That wasn't as good.
Starting point is 00:18:47 as good as 49ers. Honestly, that I love. I'm going to take that. Thank you. Oh, a Tori is so? Which one? She likes this is about her. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:56 And you know what, Chad? If anything, I'm a 94. Wait, isn't that bad? Like, she's a nine that acts like a four. Yeah, that's good. Well, she's humble. Yeah. I might give you a 59, but definitely not a 94.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Okay. Well, let's not. Numbering people. Yeah, I hate that. Let's do this instead. Let's offer to send you two on another date. Oh, it sounds like. I like this.
Starting point is 00:19:18 No numbers. Let's just send you on another day. If you're willing to give Tori one more chance, Chad, then we would pay for it. Guys, I do not want to go back out with her. We try, Tori. I'm so sorry, Tori. Well, my feelings are really hurt, but I'm going to be the bigger person here, and I'm going to say, okay, I hear you. I like how being the bigger person is accepting what you said.
Starting point is 00:19:45 You couldn't have said no. I'm still going to give the win to Tori in this situation. Good job, Tori. We all give it to you, Tori. 49ers for life. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. So this is a podcast about video games. Kind of.

Starting point is 00:21:42 Why are only mean words fun? Yeah. Seriously. And even though, yes, her and I are both kind of 94thers, and we do share that elite private school connection, I do think that she could have handled herself a little better. Oh, wow, even you were being judgy to the other judgey. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Yeah, I expected a little better from a fellow preppy princess. Of course, Jeff thinks he's better than the other girl. Yeah, I know. That's why I'm a 94thrd. She's the other version. Is this what being in private school is like? Exactly. It's so much fun.
