Quick, Alexis, before the second date starts, tell everyone hello in Australian. Oh, good day, mate. Oh, there it goes. That must be the reason why we're charting in Australia on the Top Comedy Podcast.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Yeah, totally hot. All right, thanks for being here and don't forget if you do love this much of the show, we've got 45 more minutes of it over on our main feed. Just search Brooke and Jeffrey. Brooke and Jeffrey. Now they understand what we're talking about. Let's get to what you came for. It's your second date.
Starting point is 00:03:18 Second date update. You know the saying opposites attract? I don't know if that's really true. At least not in today's call. Okay. I mean, it typically is, but why do you say that? Because the woman on the phone said that her and her date both have blonde hair,
Starting point is 00:03:35 they both enjoy chocolate pudding, and they both have the same mother. How crazy is that? Jeff, that's gross. I mean, okay, I don't know about the last one. I may have slipped that in. same mother. How crazy is that? Jeff, that's gross. I mean, okay, I don't know about the last one. I may have slipped that in. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:53 But it would be an interesting twist if that turned out to be the case. I don't think so. That's not the word I'd use. It's illegal. We draw the line at cousin stuff on this show, but please welcome Justine to the program. Hey, Justine. Hello. Hi. What an intro. You do realize the same mother makes you siblings, Justine. Hello. Hi. What an intro.
Starting point is 00:04:05 You do realize the same mother makes you siblings, even. Not cousins. Only by blood, Brooke. Only by blood. So, Justine, you said in your email that you bonded with this guy because you had a lot of similarities. What similarities did you notice? Well, we're both really quiet.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Aw. Oh. I can see that. Do you want us to talk softer during this call? That could be awkward on a first date. I don't know. It always reminds me of the movie quote. We could talk or not talk for hours.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Yeah. From Best in Show. What's his name, by the way? His name is Ken. Okay. How'd you meet him? We met at the bank.
Starting point is 00:04:39 At the bank. Oh. Another quiet place. Why'd you have to go into a bank? I know. I still like this. Right? Who does that anymore? I think it's interesting that two quiet people would meet in person.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Like, who do you approach to? Well, actually, we were both filling out paperwork side by side. And I asked him to borrow his pen, but I didn't even, like, say words. I just was like, you know how you do? You just hold your hand out? You point? You pointed with a nice smile? Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:05:15 And that's kind of how it got started. It was pretty sweet. That is romantic. She points and he's like, do you want to go out with me? I think he also did a head nod and she understood. Wait, have you talked at all? You heard this man's voice. Alright, that's kind of cute. It is cute though.
Starting point is 00:05:30 It was purely vibes. So what did you guys do when you went out? Well, at first he suggested, because we were both so quiet, he said we should do this like dating in the dark thing. And I pointed out that's when you don't see the person,
Starting point is 00:05:47 not when you don't speak to them. Oh, yeah. Oh, right. You mean the dinner where you go dining in the dark. Is that what you mean? And you do the dark dinners? Yeah, exactly. Is that what you did?
Starting point is 00:05:59 No. No. Because then you wouldn't see or hear them. You wonder if they're still here. Maybe you'd really like them. I know. That's true. It'd be both of your happy place.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Best day of my life. What did you end up doing? We wound up going to this little Mediterranean place. And we were texting before we went. And we agreed to each bring notebooks. So we just wrote each other notes at dinner. Very fun. For you, this is cute.
Starting point is 00:06:30 I'm not saying for everyone. This would be torture for me, but this is adorable. Was it the whole time you wrote notes? I mean, we talked to the waiter. That's good. But for the rest of the time, you two tried to stay quiet and just enjoy and soak up each other's silence.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Well, no. Right. No. They shared information still. But yeah, but quietly. Yeah, quietly. Right. In their way.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Yeah. Okay. I bet there's a lot of smiles every time the note got passed back, though. Yeah. You'd hope. Sounds hot. Well, and like, we wound up laughing the whole time. Like, we really enjoyed each other's company, which is kind of awesome.
Starting point is 00:07:06 But there was a mistake. The waiter brought out only one meal at first. And it was what I had ordered, but they put it down in front of Ken. And so he started eating. And I was like, I wrote him a note and I said, no, that's mine. And he wrote back, mine what? Oh, no. I'm glad he didn't say not anymore.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Right. So it made us laugh. We both laughed a lot. It was really fun. Did you get food? I'm worried. Thanks for worrying. Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Okay. He gave me back my dinner, and then his showed up. Okay. Did it turn into like a challenge to not talk? That's what it almost sounds like. It would be hard. He's going to break it first. Yeah. It of like a challenge to not talk. That's what it almost sounds like. He's going to break it first. Sounds like a challenge to them would be to talk. For certain people, talking is a big struggle,
Starting point is 00:07:51 but this is the perfect date for two people that are kind of shy and introverted. You guys shared the last kiss by just drawing lips on two pieces of paper and putting them together? That's funny, but no. Tell us, after the quiet dinner, how did the date end? It didn't end with dinner, which was kind of nice.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Oh, really? We went and got ice cream, and we were people watching, and I pulled out my notebook and said, we should do this again sometime, and he wrote yes. But that was, like, more than two weeks ago. Well, that's not true. It's almost two weeks ago, I guess. Almost two weeks, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:29 I don't know. I feel like this guy is going to be a slow mover, just from the vibe he's given. And that's a bad thing? No, no, it's just who he is. Oh, he sent a letter in the mail. Yeah, exactly. It's taking a while to get to you. I don't think I would be worried that he hadn't contacted you in two weeks.
Starting point is 00:08:43 You guys literally do sound like an old married couple with, like, you guys go to the bank, you guys write each other notes, enjoy each other's silence, and sit on a park bench eating ice cream together. Sounds like you guys just text, though. Obviously, you're not on the phone a lot. I mean, I sent him a text. Okay. That must have been a struggle for you, though, just to get one out.
Starting point is 00:09:03 He's good at writing. You guys are making me blush. I can't believe how hard my cheeks are burning Okay I'm just going to say Real quick I am really impressed That you're doing this Because you are really putting yourself in a place That isn't a comfortable zone for you That's cool
Starting point is 00:09:20 And that's actually the deal I feel like I need your help Because it's so awkward to call him. Yeah. And you guys are so good at the talking. I don't know if we're good at talking, but we can do a lot of this. We like to do it. It's not an awkward Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah. This would not happen. Exactly. So we're going to come back. We're going to call Quiet Ken for you and see if we can silently get him to agree to another date. We're going to do it right after this. Hold on. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Second date update. We probably just met one of the sweetest people that we've ever had on this show before. Yes. I'm worried we're going to ruin her. I hope not. There's no one else. Her name is Justine. She is quiet.
Starting point is 00:10:04 She's kind sounding. She's no one else. Her name is Justine. She is quiet. She's kind sounding. She's got a very genuine laugh. It made us all feel good about ourselves no matter what we said. I mean, honestly. That's so rare. If we get this guy, Ken, on the phone and he says something rude or disrespectful about her. Hang up. I'm just letting you know.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I am treating her like a little sister to our show, and I'm going to be standing up for her. Hardcore. Are you fighting him? I don't know if she wants to be a little sister, but... Well, I'm just saying, I'm in her corner. Okay, okay. Got it, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:33 And, I mean, it already sounds like her heart is breaking, because who goes on a silent date and has a great time? Yeah. Justine and this guy, apparently. The only communication that was had the entire time was via handwritten note. So we need to figure out how to get him on the line and figure out why he is not jumping to get on another date with her. They have the same vibes. Honestly, he can't have a multitude of options here.
Starting point is 00:10:57 This is a guy who barely talks. Okay, this is her future husband that you're talking about. I don't mean it in a mean way. I'm just saying he's not out there being a player, you know? Like, he's not out running game because he can't pass notes to just any hot lady that walks by. It's not like he's just out on the field.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Justine, do you want to defend your man? No, she knows what I mean, right? Making me giggle, though. Okay. How do we know he didn't just walk into a library and riz up everyone in silence? It's possible. Very possible.
Starting point is 00:11:27 I mean, he could be like a silent Casanova that we never knew existed. Tossing bookmarks and stuff. So many hot singles at the library. Yes, thank you. We're hot. Did I tell you guys I'm a librarian? You are.
Starting point is 00:11:39 No way. That is the cutest Justine. That makes sense. Do you want to take back your library comment? No, I love the library. I am the only one in this room that goes. She really does, actually. All the time.
Starting point is 00:11:51 All right. Just stay quiet, Justine. I know you're not going to have any trouble with that, but we're going to call him and talk to him, okay? Wait, I'm worried what she tries to pipe in. We're not going to hear her. We'll call you when it's time, okay? We'll make it obvious.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Okay. Okay. Thank you. All right. Hold on. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Ken?
Starting point is 00:12:21 Yeah. Speaking. Hi, Ken. Hey, Ken. Good morning, Ken. Good morning. Yeah. Oh, speaking. Hi, Ken. Hey, Ken. Good morning, Ken. Good morning. Yeah. Oh, this is good.
Starting point is 00:12:29 You're probably hearing a lot of voices right now, and that's because you're on the radio with Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Um, okay. Hey. Welcome to our show. Hey, Ken. We're excited to talk to you. Why?
Starting point is 00:12:44 What? Sorry, what? Who are you calling? Yeah. Ken, we're excited to talk to you. Why? Sorry, who are you calling? Yeah. We don't want to overwhelm you, but we're doing a segment here. It's called Second Date Update. And one of our listeners asked us to reach out to you because you went on an awesome date with her the other day. Well, she thought it was awesome. Yeah, we all thought it was awesome, too, because we heard a little bit about it. We're talking about Justine.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Yeah, her. Yeah. Her. Oh. Yeah. I think you guys went out almost two weeks ago. That is correct. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:15 I mean, she told us about the day that you two hung out, and it sounded pretty unique. Yeah. At least for us, because we do a lot of these calls. We haven't heard a lot of dates where two people go out and stay quiet and actually enjoy it. I... I'm so sorry. Just one second.
Starting point is 00:13:34 You okay? I don't know. Maybe he's at work or something. He's nervous. He's throwing up right now. There's a lot of talking. Or he's in a library. And the librarian's walking. They're shushing him, maybe, yes. Justine is a librarian, remember? But she probably went to a real library.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Oh, sorry. Sorry. It sounds like you're busy right now. Yeah, we don't want to take up too much of your time. But bottom line is, Justine says she had a great time. The question is, she's not getting any signals back that you wanted to hang out again. And she's kind of disappointed by that. I kind of don't want to hang out again, and she's kind of disappointed by that. I kind of don't want to hang out again.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Wait, what? Oh, buddy, why? I mean, we were passing notes, right? Yeah. We were talking about ourselves, and I started running out of things to say. Oh. Oh, I hate that. I mean, it would be a lot to write.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Yeah. Yeah, and it is hard, like, when there's a lull in conversation to force a question. Yeah. I mean, the first couple are okay, but by the third or fourth, you're like, so...
Starting point is 00:14:35 You shouldn't feel bad. That happens on all first dates, I feel like. Really, Brooke? People write on all of their dates? No. That's not what she does. You know, there's always a moment,
Starting point is 00:14:44 yeah, where you're like, I don't know what to share right now. I get that, but you guys don't understand. I literally told everything about myself. Oh. You ran out of things to, like, reveal about you on the first date? That should be impossible, bro.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Books, movies, interests, foods. Yeah, but there's more to people than just what you like. Did your hand hurt? That's a lot of writing. I think I got my wrist cramped. I mean, I don't think you're giving yourself credit. I think you're giving me too much. Oh. I've got to be a middle ground here.
Starting point is 00:15:18 You might surprise... I can understand you feel a little bit nervous and intimidated, but what are you worried about? What's the harm in seeing her again? I am worried she's going to find out I'm not just quiet like she is.
Starting point is 00:15:34 I'm boring. Boring? That just broke my little heart. You're not boring. You have an awesome woman. When you do another date, that's what you talk about the whole day Is the activity Or just what happened on the last date
Starting point is 00:15:49 It's just always going to replay their first date You are just the calm In a world full of chaos We need people like you You balance out all us idiots It doesn't matter if you think That you're boring or you're not enough. Somebody that believes that you're plenty is Justine.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And don't just trust me. She's on the other line right now. Yeah. Waiting to talk to you. Quietly. This is pretty bold. Justine, are you there? We need to hear her.
Starting point is 00:16:18 I'm here. Oh. Are you guys kidding me right now? She's been listening. It's okay, Ken listening the whole time? This is cute, not embarrassing, I promise. I think he's about to have a heart attack. Justine, I am so sorry.
Starting point is 00:16:33 I can't say anything. Did you listen to all that? Why? Why? Because it was my idea. I was too nervous to call you, and I called somebody who could. And these sweet people have, I didn't, we didn't mean to scare you. Sweet, oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Who in this room is sweet? It feels like maybe it backfired. No, no, not at all. I'm really glad to hear from you again. Guys. Oh my God. I feel like if we wouldn't have gotten involved, they would have never talked to each other. That's right, Jose.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Make this about us. I love it. I love it. We need to take the credit. We are amazing. Look at us. I'm so proud of us. He's the one who contacted us.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Don't forget. But look, I understand that you're really nervous, Ken, about talking to her and coming across a certain way. I think the pressure of being in a quiet setting is a lot. I think the next date that you go on, like you're just in the wrong venue. Do something that's loud. Go to a sporting event. Go to a comedy show where there's other stuff to point at and talk about rather than just sitting quietly together. Comedy show would be so fun.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Yeah, you just get to watch it would be fun would that be fun for you ken that sounds like it would happen okay comedy does happen yeah okay see what i mean he's so funny look the whole goal of this is to set you guys up on another date and lock that down, and we would pay for it. So, Justine, now that you know how he feels, you still want to go out with him again? Very much. Okay. Ken, did you hear that?
Starting point is 00:18:14 Like, that's got to feel good, right? Did he hang up? Hello? Ken? I'm sorry. I dropped my phone. He's nervous. His hands are shaking.
Starting point is 00:18:24 It sounds great. Okay. I dropped my phone. He's nervous. His hands are shaking. That sounds great. Okay. So we will send you guys out on another day, and we're going to pay for it, okay? Awesome. Thank you so much. I'm so grateful, you guys. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:40 It just makes me want to go to the other room and shout, Ken! Ken! Ken! Ken! Ken! Ken! Ken!
Starting point is 00:18:44 Ken! Ken! Ken! See? It feels good. That's a little terrifying. Oh, okay. So we should have whispered it throughout my bed. Ken! Ken! Ken! Ken!
Starting point is 00:18:54 That's even more terrifying. We're not trying to wake him up. Alright, we're just going to hang up. Bye. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Oh, man. If we do not get an update from them, I will die. Yeah. Are you too shy to give us an update?
Starting point is 00:19:10 I'm just going to email her every week. She can write it. We can just read it. That's true. You know? Definitely one of the sweetest calls that we've ever had. Like, sickeningly sweet. I know.
Starting point is 00:19:19 How are you doing? I should have asked. I'm doing okay. That's hard for you, usually. There was something on my mind. I know we were all thinking it, but didn't want to say it. What? The quiet ones are always the biggest freaks.
Starting point is 00:19:29 No, Jeff, come on. They are. You know that that's true. It is not true. Their bodies say what their mouths can't break. I've had different experiences. Don't make this weird. It's not weird.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Why do you got to make it weird every time? It's beautiful. They're connecting on levels that we couldn't even imagine on this show. This is why we could have nothing wholesome on this show. I. It's beautiful. They're connecting on levels that we couldn't even imagine on this show. This is why we could have nothing wholesome on this show. I think it's sweet. I guess librarians often star in those movies. That's right. Wait a minute. You got a point.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Don't take the paddle out. I'm being too loud. You know it's happening. And we can make it happen for you too. Whatever you want. Email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling you back. There goes our chance for an update. What are you talking about? We've ruined it.
