Starting point is 00:02:13 Your child is not doing this on purpose. That's the kind of perspective we've been pulling from the psychologists and psychiatrists who studied this for a living. Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. All right, we got a classic for you today. But before, we always love to highlight your comments. What do you see, Alexis, that you like? Yeah, Frankie Kavanaugh said,
Starting point is 00:02:34 sometimes when all you were talking at once and laughing at once and all at once, all at once, I swear y'all had too much coffee. But that's all right. I have a lot of peace in mind when I get the opportunity to hear you guys entertain us. But sometimes y'all just talk at once, loudly, 100. Yeah, it's true. But we like each other. That's why, you know, it's fun.
Starting point is 00:02:53 It's a fun room to be in. Yeah, all right. Okay. All right. Here we go. Here we go. Into the classic. Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. I've heard of people using the dating app Hinge. Anybody here ever try that one? Yeah. That's my favorite one. What's that one about? I mean, like, how does it work?
Starting point is 00:03:15 Different. And you can see people who like you before you like them. So you don't have to match. No, whatever. I'm not going to explain to you. I've never used that one before personally. But I have met people. on a similar one called cringe.
Starting point is 00:03:27 That makes sense for you. It's where you match with people based on their belly buttons and you make a bunch of mouth noises to try and match them. Ah, this sounds like my best shot. Cringe. No. I'm going to stale. It's not for everybody.
Starting point is 00:03:42 That's what I'll say. How did you come up with that in your head? But one of our listeners, Haley apparently met a guy. She says on Hinge, but maybe it was cringe. Haley? Which one was it? It was on Hinge. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:55 She's cringing. If this one doesn't work out for you, though, you can always turn to cringe. But for now, tell us about the guy that you met. What's his name? Well, his name is Stephen. Okay. And, you know, he's a really cool guy, a bit nerdy, just how I like him. And so what really made me click on him was that he had said that he was a major Harry Potter fan.
Starting point is 00:04:16 And I was like, oh, well, good. Cool. Wow, he can read at a fourth grade level. Amazing. This is one of those fandums like Star Wars or whatever where you've got to be careful because if you're going to declare it, people expect you to know every last detail of said franchise. Yeah, see, they don't have those types of standards on cringe.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Yeah, I believe that. I believe that. I always think when someone says her Harry Potter fan, I'm like, good, we have eight movies we can watch. I already have eight days. That's funny. I never thought of that. All right.
Starting point is 00:04:49 So you guys match, how did it go actually meeting him? It actually went great. We went for a happy hour and like we instantly clicked. It was so much fun. We were talking about it. And then we talked about other things as well. And it was just like, it was an instant click. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:05:03 I mean, I think we're all wondering what house are you in? I'm in Ravenclaw. Look at that. She was ready with an answer. That makes sense. You know, yeah, no, the hottie chow chang. She's in Ravenclaw too. Everyone pays Gryffindor.
Starting point is 00:05:17 So it's going to know that you're like a true, you know. Yeah, like I'm a hufflepuff. Are you? We're probably slither in, but we don't get in there. Let's not go there. All right. So, I mean, that's great. It sounds like you guys are clicking at Happy Hour.
Starting point is 00:05:31 What else is going on? Yeah, well, I mean, even in Happy Hour, we're, like, intertwining our legs together under the table. We're like. Oh. Playing a little leg pretzel. I know. I was going to add. I was going to have.
Starting point is 00:05:42 M.A. style. Oh, she's got me under the table. Eating pretzels above the table and making pretzels below. What? Okay. This is why you're on a friend. Exactly. I mean, I was going to ask, like, how do you turn a Harry Potter date into a sexy date? But apparently you made it happen.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Yeah. I must say, though, like, when we stopped having the happy hour, I was just like, I don't want this date to end. Yeah. But I also remembered that I had to let my dog out. And I was like, I'm so sorry. I have to get my dog out. And at least he was nice enough to, like, he came with me to get my dog out. I bet he did.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Oh. All right. Let's like pretzel somewhere else is what he said, Jeffrey. Okay. Yeah. Like, my apartment was super close by. So he met my dog Button. And.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Aw. Button. That's a nice name. So my dog Button is never really nice with everybody. She's like a little bit crazy. But she was so happy to meet him. He had like the best energy. It's such a good sign.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Always. Yeah. Like Button hated my ex. Like she never liked my act. But that was shocking for me. And I was like so happy. We took her to the park. We were chatting a little bit, sitting on the grass, letting her run around.
Starting point is 00:07:02 And instead of getting dark, so I was like, okay, you know what, if you want, you can go to my place again. You drop off the dog and, like, just hang out for a little bit longer. And then he said he had to go. Okay. I think that's understandable. You guys had an extended date. How long had you guys spent together to that point? give or take five hours or so
Starting point is 00:07:20 I was just like fair enough but then he told me he had them where else to go and he was already running late so I felt bad whoa after all that he's got like another late night he said he still had something to do and so he left and we still talk but now I feel like that flirtiness
Starting point is 00:07:37 has like gone away and he's kind of like friend zones me a bit that's weird do you think he had a date that night like he put you in the day date right like an early happy hour and then he put somebody else
Starting point is 00:07:50 he was maybe more attracted to or something. I'm not trying to be mean, but like at the night date. Yeah, I don't know. I just wanted to know what happened. Have you tried sending him a naughty ravenclaw pick? See if you get a response from that. Via owl?
Starting point is 00:08:05 Is that how you send those? Or a little suggestive pretzel action. Yeah. I mean, I sent like flirtatious text messages to him and stuff or he doesn't respond or he just changes a message. Not flirtatious enough from the sound of it. So I'm going to play a song, and you go Google suggestive pretzel.
Starting point is 00:08:22 No, don't do that. No, look up suggestive pretzel and see what you find, and it might help you because we're going to come back. And then we'll call Stephen for you and try and get you your second date update, okay? All right. Thank you so much. All right, hold on. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update.
Starting point is 00:08:38 There's nothing more sexy than meeting up at a random bar with a fellow Harry Potterhead. Oh, man. Oh, nothing. Really? They hated sexy Haley said that while the drinks were flowing on top of the table, their legs were intertwining below.
Starting point is 00:08:55 No. Uh-oh. And she didn't say explicitly that she brushed his wand. But I'm assuming by the giddiness in her voice that she at least wanted to. Haley, confirm or deny?
Starting point is 00:09:09 Oh, no. That's a pickup line. I mean, I would think that the dude would want to call it a broom before a wall. You guys do what you need to see. The interesting part about this whole thing is the date didn't end at the bar. They kept it going and even took her dog buttons out on a walk through the park. It's button with just one.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Buttons, excuse me. Button. And when I walked through the park hung out there a little while, but afterwards, the romance is kind of run dry. Like a bowl full of salty what, Brooke? Uh, pretzels? Yeah. Oh, wow. Brooke.
Starting point is 00:09:43 The queen of dryness over there. Wait a minute. I'm really. Alexis. There's like 8,000 metaphors that Jeffrey uses in one sentence. You gotta keep up. So Haley, I'm really curious because most guys don't friend zone. That's just not in the game plan for most of us.
Starting point is 00:10:01 But we'll find out what his deal is. You ready to call him? Yeah, I'm definitely nervous. But I'm ready. I need to know. It's hard to imagine that a dude who's declaring his love for Harry Potter is getting tons of options on dating apps, but maybe I'm wrong. I think it's a new love language now.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I guess. It is. We'll find out. Let's give him a call and see what he has to say. Here we go. Engardian Loviosa? Oh, he's floating right now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Hello? Yeah. Hello. Hey, is this Stephen? Luminose. No? Yeah. Now he's lit up.
Starting point is 00:10:47 You know a lot. I know all the smells. I really do. Hey, Stephen, I'm sorry for all the confusion here. We're calling you from a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. We're hoping you have a second to talk to us. Please don't. Spelliamas on us.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Okay. I think that's a way or hang up, guys. Okay. What, um, is like a contest or something? Yeah. You know, I wouldn't call it a contest, but it is an opportunity to possibly go out on a date with a really cool girl. Can I see a picture of her? What is, I don't.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Well, you've already been out on a date with this woman. Her name's Haley. Oh. Oh, wow. Okay. So it's like one of those talk about the date. That's exactly what. what this is.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Yeah. Second date update. Dude, Haley sounded like she really had a great time with you. It sounded like an awesome date, honestly. Yeah. I mean, that's the whole reason that we're talking about all the, you know, spells and charms and stuff. Because she mentioned your Harry Potter fan.
Starting point is 00:11:42 No, she's, we're both fans. We had a great, we had a good time. It was, she's a bigger fan than me, but that was fun. We talked a lot about it. Yeah. I mean, she described it as a good time, too, which is why she's so confused why afterwards things seem to have cooled off. a little bit. Is she reading that right? The Kulov part?
Starting point is 00:12:03 Yeah. Yeah, I'd say so, I guess. Okay. Well, the whole point of this segment is to try and help Haley understand why the Kool-off happened, because she has no idea. Okay, so what do you guys, like, report back to her or something? Yeah, pretty much. Just help her understand what's going on so she can have a little bit of closure and move on, or what she would like is to see you again. So you think you could help us give her a little bit of clarity? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Okay. It was a fun day. It was great. It was long. It was almost four hours. Yeah. I mean, I was even thinking we have a lot in common. This could be great.
Starting point is 00:12:42 I got to see a future potentially. I could tell from the excitement of your voice right now. I mean, what change? Was there a specific moment or was it just an overall vibe for you? Yeah. No, it was pretty specific, I would say. It happened at the park. So we were there with her dog
Starting point is 00:12:59 She kept saying how much her dog liked me And that was not normal Right Dude, that's a huge compliment Yeah, I liked her dog button Was cute and too sweet Okay No, the thing was
Starting point is 00:13:14 She brought dog treats for her dog And then she kind of casually Just started snacking on them Oh At first I thought maybe she's gonna do that Like one time Like the dog thought it was cute or something And then she did it like a few more
Starting point is 00:13:27 More times. Like dog biscuits? Yeah. Like one for button, one for her. Maybe they were human treats that she was giving to her dog. Do you know? No, it was a bag. No, no.
Starting point is 00:13:39 It was a bag that said dog treats. There's a picture of a dog on the front. They shaped like buttons. Yeah, no. And she didn't, she didn't acknowledge it. She didn't, like, the only thing, the only time she acknowledged it was, which is like, man, I'm getting thirsty. I bet.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Yeah, that's what I thought. Like, I'll bet. And then she said, come on, budd and they went over to the dog fountain, like, where the dogs are playing around around. Yeah, they both drank the water from the dog. At the same time? No. Yeah, it was like together, but like kind of together, yeah. You guys?
Starting point is 00:14:17 Okay. I was at a point where I'm like, yeah, I feel like you're overreacted. I mean. Right. With the treats, but the water, too. That's where you draw the line. It is. Okay. Well, right.
Starting point is 00:14:28 So, I mean, I was pretty grossed out. Oh, poor thing. But then after the fountain, I was like, we're on a different level of what is normal, what is not. Yeah. No, I mean, now I can kind of see what you're saying. But I wonder if Haley feels the same way as you, because she's on the other line listening. I think she's listening. She needed to hear that.
Starting point is 00:14:48 She needs to talk to you. Haley. Yeah. Hi. Um, okay. You're totally making it sound horrible. and it's totally not. Wait, is that true?
Starting point is 00:15:02 Yeah, you know, part of it because, like, Stephen and I honestly wish you would have said something about it. And, FYI, these dog traits are organic, and they're actually advertised for, say, for human consumption. No. That was just like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:15 It tastes like beef jerky. I think that that is usually, it's usually just put on there so, like, you don't call poison control if you, you know, accidentally swallow one or something, not advertised It's not telling top your pasta with this. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:15:30 There's like commercials of someone eating the dog treat and whatever. It's like safe organic treats. I think that's to prove. On a regular TV or on some Ukrainian state? Honestly, you should just try it. But I'm okay. Well, you said beef jerky, but I could have sworn the label said beef and gravy. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:15:50 I can actually, I had a. Here we go. Let's make this normal, Brooke. Listen, I've eaten a lot of treats of animals in my time. When my dog doesn't finish her dog bowl, I'm not going to let that go to win. I had a friend who I also happened to date and he maybe ate some of those bagels strips. It's not as a normal thing just a couple of times. But I like, why would you, like, I just picture you down on all floors at a dog drinking fountain with your head under the
Starting point is 00:16:26 water at the same time. No, I'm not drinking out of a dog bowl or anything like that. It's just like a water fountain. Like, you know, it's the water's high enough. I'm not touching it with my lips or anything. It's just water. Stephen, you're staying awfully quiet for this whole thing. I mean, you're hearing her explanations. As I said at the beginning, like, Button and I got along good. I'm a dog person and that's not normal and that's not normal. And that's not normal to me. So I would just recommend in the future that you just acknowledge it because it's not like a, not normal. Stephen, I feel like you're coming off just a little bit judgy here. Like, if they went to the same dog groomer. Like, I'm being put on the spot here on a radio where you want it.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Like, this is my feeling. Like, it's fine. It's fine, Stephen. We're just asking if, like, maybe after you heard Haley's explanation that maybe you can open the window a little bit for her. Yeah. Open the doggy door to love and let it come in because we'd like to send you out on another date. we will pay for that date between you and Haley. Come on, who wants a date?
Starting point is 00:17:29 Who wants a good date? I mean, I had a great time on our first date. I guess I'd be down, yeah. Okay. Okay. Now that you know. Now that you know. Yeah, and she's able to learn from her mistakes,
Starting point is 00:17:40 and she won't drink out of the dog bowls anymore, at least not in front of you. It wasn't a dog bowl. I already explained what the deal was. Okay. Okay. But it sounds like, okay, it sounds like maybe, Stephen, you're willing to give her another shot.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Haley, are you still interested? Well, you know I am. I think you're an awesome guy, Stephen. So, yeah, I'm totally down. Wait a second. Is this two Harry Potterheads casting a little Wingardium laviosa spell? Oh, this is the spell word.
Starting point is 00:18:10 We brought the magic back. K-9a-Sexeamus. No. I don't look up my spells. Yeah, you go back to the book. Something similar. Uh-huh. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Starting point is 00:19:58 Hey! Should we order some Peerina one to this studio? You're way too confident right now. Calm now. You have never tried those dog biscuits. For all we know. Maybe they're good. I'm just trying to be, they're good enough for button.
Starting point is 00:20:18 No. Maybe get the ones that clean your teeth. I think I'll start with the ice cream, the dog ice cream. Maybe that's a good choice.
