Like, Prince, he dropped, like, 30 albums. We dropped, like, five right now. Like, that's the rate we got to be going. Yeah, that's a good attitude.

Can superstars even exist the way they used to? 2016 was sort of that last era of monoculture, where we still consume things in community. Everybody wanted to be Beyonce at that point. I don't think we'll ever see another beyond. What does it mean to be black and eat in America? You will never make me feel bad for being a black girl, for being a black American girl, ever.

Hey, it's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. You don't like the idea of scratching. Yeah, I don't know. I started thinking out my head and I was like, ooh, scratching someone else's back.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Actually, it gives me the drill. I saw Alexis's face turned sour just there. Because I'm thinking of like their skin on your nails. A little rash. You're taking care of that. No, I don't like this. Okay. Let's get to your comments then before we get to these classics.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Yeah. Iron Woman said, I recently found your Guinness to Win It videos of Jose attempting Guinness World Records from summer 2020. Yes. You guys should repost these now that you have a bigger following. They'd go viral. They were hilarious. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:03:25 That is a really good point. We've done so much weird. things on this show. Yeah. If you're bored this weekend, go stalk our old YouTube videos. Yeah, you should do. You can do a very deep dive.
Starting point is 00:03:33 It's at Brick and Jeffrey on YouTube. And we also have been putting up live videos of our second dates and our awkward Tuesdays. We're doing one a week right now. They get released on Tuesdays. So follow, comment, and let us know what you think in your
Starting point is 00:03:47 back-to-back classic start right now. I can't speak for the ladies, but I know the goal of every man on the dating apps is to find that golden pickup line. That's the goal. That message that's too irresistible
Starting point is 00:04:03 not to respond to. For years, people claimed it didn't exist. They said it was a myth like Bigfoot or a Ziploc bag that reseals on the first try. Wow, that's non-existent. Is that what you guys are talking about in your man's circles? All the time.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Yeah, I didn't realize. But one of our listeners claims he found it. Wow. The golden pickup line. And I wonder if Brooke or Alexis would be able to not respond if they ever found this message in their DMs. I will melt into this person. I reply to hey. We're going to find out.
Starting point is 00:04:41 You're going to hear it in your second date update right after this. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. It's always interesting to me that we have just as many guys listen to our show as we do ladies. Actually, yeah. On our podcast, we have more male listeners. Really? And if that's because women are forcing their spouses to listen at the threat of withholding love, then you know what?
Starting point is 00:05:05 So be it. Oh, not just that we're entertaining? No. That can't be it. Have you heard of our show? Come on now. And I think we all know by now, ladies don't have to approach anyone on the dating apps. They're pretty much flooded with messages 24-7.
Starting point is 00:05:22 So the big question that we always ask here is how does a guy cut through all the clutter and get himself noticed. The guy to girl ratio on a dating app is not good. Yeah, and our listener, Connor, says he's figured out a great conversation opener that nobody else was using and says it has an extremely high success rate. Oh, interesting. Connor, are you sure you want to give away your secrets to the world right here on the show? Honestly, no, but your producer's kind of telling me I have to do that if I want to be here.
Starting point is 00:05:51 That's good. Our producer can be kind of scary. We get it. He makes me do a lot of stuff I don't want to do. either, Connor, so I completely understand. Now, time to wipe away those tears. Give it up. What's your secret? So I don't send any words
Starting point is 00:06:04 at all. Any word? I'm with you. Women hate words. Words, huge turnoff. Am I right, Alexis? Oh, yeah. Especially men's word. Yes. What are you doing? Like, punctuation marks? It's emojis, dude. You send emojis
Starting point is 00:06:18 because it leads to a response. Oh. Eventually, she'll be like, why are you only? Because you're like trying to decode what you're attempting to say, are there specific emojis that you use? Oh, yeah, yeah, there's a specific group of emojis. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Okay, yeah. Nice. Man emoji, woman emoji, sushi emoji, dance emoji, music emoji, gift box emoji, equal sign, question mark. What was the last one before question mark? Equal sign. Oh, and then question mark. Women love math equations, right, Alexis?
Starting point is 00:06:51 Like an algebra problem. Yeah, you could take that out. Oh, okay. That's a whole sign. I'm sorry, from those emojis, that is a fancy first date that you just planned. Oh, that sounds like a great first date. Sushi and dancing? Yeah, for people who aren't emoji literate, can you, like, translate what exactly
Starting point is 00:07:06 you're saying in it? Okay, so it translates to a guy and a girl, we get sushi, we dance, and also, there's a little something special. What do you think? Yeah. Okay. What if it's a tiny gift? The fact that you have a gift box looks really cool, a big gold box on the emoji.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Unless it's like that old SNL song about what's in the box. I prefer an ice cream emoji over a gift box. Yeah, that's just me. No, but it always elicit the response. Either people send back, like, emojis of their own, like, they get it. Yeah. Or they're like, sorry, what was that? And at least I've got somebody talking to me, even if they didn't get it.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Oh, okay. Well, and then she asked for clarification. Then you can formally ask her out. Okay, so you do this to hundreds of women, and one you actually went on a date with. Yes, I did this to Nikki. I was able to get her number, and we met up, and we did that date. Oh, you did do the day. Okay, and you said her name is Nikki.
Starting point is 00:07:53 That's the woman that we're going to be calling her. how did your date go? It was great. We did exactly what I said we were going to do. We did sushi. We went dancing, and then I took her out, paid for drinks afterwards. Oh, wait, where was the present? You put a present box.
Starting point is 00:08:07 I'm in there. The present is like, I'm going to let you in on my secret spot. Oh. Is it like one of those fun bars with really cool drinks? Did she like that present? She liked it. She thought it was cool. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Those vibes were up. How was the connection between you two? Look, I thought it was great. There was no, like, moment where it felt like a kiss was right, but I felt, I felt like we were viving the whole time. Okay. I obviously listened to these tough times. You're always like, okay, what do you mess up?
Starting point is 00:08:31 And I will tell you right now, the awkward thing came from her and not from me. I'm still want to go on our second date, but there was a point where she called me Martin. Martin? Oh, no. Wait, what's your name? Brooke has forgotten your name. So did Jose. So you have to remind us.
Starting point is 00:08:47 No, it's not just we forgot, dude. Martin is her ex. Oh, God. I bet she felt so bad. Yeah. She said she did. We had fun with it. I mean, I cracked a joke or two about it. But still.
Starting point is 00:09:00 I thought it was all good. But now it's been like a week and a half, and I haven't heard anything. Yes, it's awkward to be called by the ex's name, but it's also kind of a good sign that she's seeing you in a romantic way. And it's unlocking that door to like old romantic flings. That's a stretch. Yeah. I have to stretch. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I mean, do you think that she's not over her ex? I mean, that's my first thought for sure. I hope that that's not the case because we had a good time. Yeah. I would like to see her again. And also, like, if you're not over your ex, fine, but you're going to ghost me for that. Well, I mean, maybe she thinks it's kind, right? Like, maybe she thinks, like, I should leave this guy alone.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Never the kindest option. I mean, I agree. I agree. I don't disagree with that. But what happened at the very end of the night? I was like, hey, this has been so much fun. I hope to see you again. We gave each other a hug.
Starting point is 00:09:52 And how many times have you called her? How many times have you texted? Well, obviously I hit her with some emojis. Okay. And then I left one voicemail. I'm trying to not be like weird about it. Now, did you leave the voicemail saying your real name? Because maybe she doesn't remember it.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Maybe you should have called yourself, Martin. Oh, that is rough if that's true. Don't do that. And voicemails are a little bit, especially if you hear the loser line segment on our show. It's always a risk to leave one. No, no, I think voicemails are fine if they're short and they end quickly. Yeah. That's the same thing I just said twice.
Starting point is 00:10:26 But you know what I mean. Just like your lovemaking. Short and end it quickly. Get and get out, get done. Leave them wanting more, Jeff. There you go. So we're going to reach out to Nikki. Hopefully she answers and we'll find out,
Starting point is 00:10:37 is it really just because she called you her ex's name on the date? Or is something else happening when we come back for your second date update right after this? Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. It was a warm summer afternoon. and our listener Connor conned a gal into a date with a flick of the finger
Starting point is 00:10:58 and a string of mysterious emojis man emoji, woman emoji sushi emoji, dance emoji, music emoji, gift box emoji equals question mark emoji. Oh, so mysterious, Jeff. And no one can crack the code, Jim. That's where we're at now.
Starting point is 00:11:15 I've conferred with my co-host Jose Sherlock Homeboy and Brooke What's Up Watson. They told me, we don't know enough about this date. We need just more investigating, you see? I think we know quite a bit, though. Brooke, you got to do the voice.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Oh, I think we know quite a bit. Yeah. Not quite enough, though. Our only lead is that Nikki called Connor by her ex-lovers name. Some nobody named Martin, but that's all we know.
Starting point is 00:11:42 We don't even know what they spoke about. Any childhood memories? Did they play the game Pasta or Rasta? What is that game? Oh, man, you haven't played pasta or Rasta? No. You haven't lived on a first. I haven't even lived, apparently.
Starting point is 00:11:55 No, we've got to throw some reggae on and play later. Connor, can you tell us what was the gab about that night? What did you speak about? Oh, man, I feel like it was pretty basic first date stuff. Like stuff that happened to us with when her kids, I was like, oh, I have this scar on my arm. Honestly, now that we're talking about, I'm like, am I basic? Am I basic? It's okay. It's kind of good there wasn't a big crazy moment.
Starting point is 00:12:16 I don't know. You're a man that's willing to take a woman dancing, and that is not basic. Many men are scared of dancing. I'll take that, but our conversation maybe wasn't as like, I don't know, it wasn't like we looked up at the stars and contemplated our existence together. Yeah, but you communicated with those dance moves, I bet. Yeah, those hips don't lie, brother. That's right.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Still, no pasta or rasta, so kind of fell short. But let's reach out to Nikki here. We'll see if she picks up and hopefully she has some answers for us. And if she doesn't, let's play the game, because I'm really curious how this game works. It's not appropriate for radio. Oh. Yeah, Brick, it's like spin the bottle. I was going to guess Peney.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Okay. I already don't know what you're talking about. Oh. You would want that pain anyway. Yeah, I know, right, Jeff? Here, let's just call Nikki here, hopefully, get out of this awkwardness. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Nikki?
Starting point is 00:13:13 Yeah, this is Nikki? Hey, Nikki. You're on a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. What's up, Nikki? Hey, what up, Nikki. Good morning. Why are you calling me? Sorry to interrupt you.
Starting point is 00:13:25 I'm not sure if you're busy or something, but we're doing a segment on our show. it's called the second date update. I'm so sorry. I got to go. Honestly, it'll take less than three minutes. Lucky for you, we're not doing our big segment pasta or Rasta.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Yeah. Super highly rated. Yeah. This is quick. I'm actually kind of excited for that. Yeah. The second date update is where one of our listeners has asked us to help get some answers for why you're not responding to his emoji texts and your voicemail messages.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Oh, God. Oh, my God. God, why would he do that? Oh, you know what we were talking about immediately when we say emoji? Yeah, Connor. Yeah, I know about the emojis, but like, why would he call a radio station and, like, get you guys involved? Like, I'm confused. So he wants to hear back from you.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Yeah, because he told us the story about your date and said he's reached out a few times hoping to get a second one. That has not happened, and he's not sure why. Well, I don't know what he told you guys, but I had a little bit of an embarrassing moment on the date. Yeah, we heard about the moment where you called him by your ex-boyfriend's name. It's fine. It sounds like he didn't even like care that much. I mean, there could have been more moments on the date that might have turned you off. Like, we just don't know. And Connor wants some honesty and clarification on the situation.
Starting point is 00:14:46 That's why we're calling. Yeah, I mean, actually, it was just that. I mean, if I'm going to be honest with you guys about something, it was it was that moment. Yeah. That'd be hard. But it sounds like you guys joked about it after you called him the wrong. name. He, like, made light of it. Yeah, no, I mean, I tried to laugh it off, but to tell you guys the truth.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Martin is not my ex's name. Wait. What? What? That's what you said. Who's Martin? Yeah, no, I know. I know. I had to make it up. Why? Who's Martin? Okay, so his eyebrows are the busiest eyebrows I've ever seen. Wait. Are you talking about Martin right now, or are you talking about our listener? Your date with Connor.
Starting point is 00:15:26 I'm talking about Connor. Like he has the same eyebrows as Martin Scorsese. He actually makes Martin's look thin. And I put him in my phone with that. And I guess I got so used to seeing that name on my phone texting that, yeah. So it was a roast. Wait, you saved him as like Martin Scorsese eyebrow boy or something in your phone? I said Martin eyebrows.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Yeah. And in the pictures, you put me really, like you saw they were bushy, hence me putting in my phone as Martin's eyebrows. But they're worse in person? I couldn't stop looking at them. It was like a bad accident that you can't stop looking at. Oh. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:04 Let's stop. Can we stop now? You're walking yourself into bad territory. Is it connected like one caterpillar? No. I don't think we need to get any more details on that. I don't want to hurt any more feelings, especially because Martin. No.
Starting point is 00:16:20 No, Connor. Connor. Oh, no, Jeff. He's on the other line listening to this, Nikki. That hurts. Shut up. I have to talk because I'm on the radio. But yeah, he's there.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Sorry. Really? Connor, are you there? Oh, man. Yeah, I'm not really sure what to say. Oh, buddy. I bet you have great eyebrows. Mark, or.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Oh, yeah, they're great eyebrows. They're very full. Like, people are into it. Big eyebrows are in. Yeah, but this is beyond the trend. But it's not a preference for different people? Okay, you don't have to make it work. That's why we date, because everybody has different preferences.
Starting point is 00:16:59 And I'm sorry, Connor, you're a nice looking guy, but your browser too much. Like, I could not even focus enough to remember your real name, birth to name I've been calling you in my followers. I'm imagining like Bert from my learning. How do you apologize for being mean and the double down on it? I mean, listen, I didn't call me and do this. Okay, Connor knew what he was getting into. He was ready, I guess, for the truth.
Starting point is 00:17:22 That's true. We do appreciate your honesty, Nikki. I mean, we really do. That's what we asked. I don't necessarily love what you're saying. Yeah. Ghosting might have been better.
Starting point is 00:17:31 But, you know, at least she's being truthful for the reason. I would think, though, that eyebrows are something that you could easily change. No, you don't want to change who you're dating. If you like some, Jeff. Yeah. I mean, I'm happy with how I look. That's good, man. Good for you.
Starting point is 00:17:44 I'm just baffled that it took coming to the radio to hear this. Oh. I was trying to be nice. You put me in this spot, and now you know. Ghosting is never nice. That's not a kindness. Would it have felt nice? if she said the reason I said is because you remind me you look like Martin Scorsese.
Starting point is 00:18:00 Why couldn't she feel good? She could have just said, you know what? I'm so sorry. I just don't feel an attraction here. That's all she had to say. That would have been fine. But also if she said I looked like Martin Scorsese, I would have been like, hell yeah, dude, tight. Yeah, good for you.
Starting point is 00:18:14 I love Connor. I mean, I'm sorry. Guys, I got to go to work. She feels bad. Okay. I'm sorry, Connor, like best a luck. If you need a brown person, I have someone really good. I'm more than happy to give her number to Connor.
Starting point is 00:18:29 She's really good. I'm not doubling down. I'm trying to help. I want Connor to find a nice woman to get the brows together. That is so insulting. A little bit. So look, I normally would never do this. But in the spirit of truthfulness and honesty,
Starting point is 00:18:47 Connor, I'm going to call it open season. Is there anything you would like to critique about Nikki in return? Just to even the playing field. Up to you, Connor. When she goes low, you go high, Connor. Yeah, what's above the eyebrows that you can call? No, I'm above it, man. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:19:04 Like, I'm not sorry for the way that I look. I think she looks great. I would have been happy to go on a second date, but it's not a girl. Just great. What a great guy. You're missing out, Nikki. Yeah, so it takes that. I didn't do anything wrong.
Starting point is 00:19:20 He called her. I've now been embarrassed on the radio. Oh, you've been embarrassed. She's really embarrassed, guys. I can't deal with this. No next date. I'm deleting every app for dating. I'm taking a break.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Oh, God. See, no reason people don't answer random calls. Okay, it's good that she was able to make this entire thing about her. So, Nikki, well done. I don't appreciate that. Yeah. And, Connor, just FYI, the next time you go ahead and send someone all these crazy emojis and there's a gift in there, why don't you just bring a gift and not be a cheap ass?
Starting point is 00:19:54 Oh. I guess it wasn't just the eyebrows. Yeah. It was not just the eyebrows. All right, well, we started with really not knowing much at the beginning of this what went wrong, and now we know it was just a couple of eyebrows. Hey, what's up, Watson? I did my job.
Starting point is 00:20:12 We solved the mystery game. I knew we'd get to the bottom of it. Tune in next week when we unmasked the owner of the old Kabuki theater and find out who isn't dating the wrong person. Like Zoix's eyebrows were like super hairy. I knew it, Scoob. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Close your eyes and you can hear the entire world come alive.
Starting point is 00:20:43 2026 FIFA World Cup is on. And you can stream it all live on TSN radio. From the opening kickoff to the final celebration. Every match, every moment. Listen to FIFA World Cup on TSN Radio. Is Canada to the liftoff! Available on IHeart Radio. Hey, I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby.

So this podcast lets us uncover all of that together. We're going to have these meaningful conversations. with the world's most fascinating people. Like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges that she never saw coming. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer, and that was more difficult.
Starting point is 00:21:41 There's a lot of people who understand postpartum depression. I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Olympic champ Sean Johnson revealed why she had no choice but to be a gymnast. There was something about gymnastics that was intoxicating to me. It's given me a belief that we We all have one of those treasures inside of us. We just have to find it. Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:22:07 You got a lot of texts coming in to our text board at 7-8-5-9-2. People are ripping that woman for what she said about Conner's eyebrows. It would have been forgiven because she didn't know he was on the phone until she just kept going. Yeah. She just wouldn't stop. Yeah. Anytime you're like, I'm sorry, but. It's not an apology.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Yeah. And I know Connor didn't want to say anything bad about her, but our listeners did not hold back. Yeah. They're blowing up our text board. It's are ruthless. One said, I've never even seen that woman, but I can tell she's got a gaping fish mouth.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Oh, all right. Another says she sounds like she was, oh, you know what, actually, some of these are not really. Yeah, you shouldn't. I learned that. Most of them I read are not cool. I probably shouldn't. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:22:53 It is nice to see our listeners coming together and sticking up for other listeners who listen to this show. Yeah, but what about that? Like, when they go low, we go high. No, mom mentality. When they go low, we go lower. He went high so we can all go low. There you go.
Starting point is 00:23:08 But we will stick up for you and your love life. You can email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling you back and go check out all of our second day updates. If you want to find them online, they're available wherever you get your podcast at Brooke and Jeffrey. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. If someone messes up your coffee order, do you, A, politely let them know that you're allergic to dairy and you need almond milk instead?
Starting point is 00:23:35 Yes. Or do you be, drink it anyway? Because suffering through your allergy is less painful than having a full-blown confrontation. That's definitely that. We all know what Alexis would do. Rithing on the ground in that coffee shop, clutching her stomach, telling the barista, thank you for your service. I love it.
Starting point is 00:23:55 I loved it. Well, one of our listeners dealt with that on their coffee date the other day. Little order mix-up happened. Oh, boy. And what went down next had the whole place awkwardly staring. Oh, my gosh. And it's probably the reason he's not getting a call back. You'll hear it in your brand new second date update.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Next. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Alexis, if you're on a dating app, what hobbies could somebody put on their profile that would make you go? Oh, damn. That's hot. I want to get to know them. Cooking's pretty nice.
Starting point is 00:24:31 They can make me some meals. Cooking, okay. What about, like, a professional puppy trainer? Oh. Cute. She didn't even think about that. Or what if he houses puppies inside of miniature windmills? So technically it's a puppy mill, but it's cute because he's raising them inside of the tiny mill.
Starting point is 00:24:51 They're healthy, but I would ask some follow-up questions. Okay, that's smart. Because I bring it up since one of our listeners apparently met someone on the dating apps with an interesting hobby that piqued his interest. Okay. Let's talk to Corey about it. Corey, welcome to the show. Hey, how you doing? What on, Corey?
Starting point is 00:25:08 Was it an above-bored puppy mill like Jeff's talking about? That's a fair question. No, no, but it was equally as interesting. No, she was a speed puzzler. A what? Speed puzzler? Yeah, like a speed puzzler. I've heard of this.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Oh, my God. I actually saw an Instagram reel about this recently. Where people put jigsaw puzzles together as fast as they can. Yeah, it's like a big competition that they have where there's like eight tables of teams all in one room. And then they like dump all the pieces out at once, whichever team solves at first wins. Okay. Could I be the one person in the room that just sticks one piece in your pocket? Your own team loses? Your team would lose.
Starting point is 00:25:45 I don't know. It would just be worth it, though. For that scrabbling moment. See who turns on each other? McCoy, did I describe that right? Is that what you were talking about? Yeah, for sure. I mean, like, we were just messaging back and forth on a dating act, and I was like,
Starting point is 00:26:00 this is weird, and she told me all about it. Yeah, like, three to four people get together and, like, a DJ plays. It's like a bingo hall, you know? Oh, really? Oh, DJ. Dude, that's pretty cool. And, like, and it's like a thing. Yeah, they throw it all down.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Everybody is on the clock, and you got to put it together. And you, like, pay money to, like, do this. Oh, okay. So there's, like, a pot that you can win at the end. Is that how it works? Yeah. And then you split it with your team, yeah. Oh, dang.
Starting point is 00:26:22 So you probably were. I was going to say at first, I thought this would be like an easy, like, activity to be like, oh, we should do it together. But no. This is too competitive. It's not the most romantic experience. Oh, she probably wouldn't let you do it. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:35 So what did you do for a day? Did you end up going out with her? Yeah, I mean, we just totally clicked. We just decided to do like a coffee date, you know, quick little 30 minutes thing is what we were planning on doing. A quick little 30 minutes. You start a timer? First question. How was it?
Starting point is 00:26:51 I thought it was. went fine. It was all right. I mean, like, we met up, we met up in line. We should get her name, too, because that's an important piece of this puzzle. Her name is Aaron. Erin. Erin, okay. It was interesting how you just said, I thought it was fine. It was all right. Like, your tone went down. It started off well, but it, it got weird. Like, so we met up in line. I, like, asked what she wanted, and, like, I did the coffee order, and, like, she sat down. And, I mean, like, I sat down for a little but my name was called. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:20 So I went up to go get our coffees. And as I was like walking back to the table, I realized that on the coffee cup, there was a different one named Devin and a phone number. Wait, what? I'm confused. You grab somebody else's coffee? That's what I was thinking. And so like I went, I went back to the coffee counter and I said, hey, like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:27:40 I think I got the wrong coffee. It's a different name. And so the guy that was there said, nope, that's the right one. Oh. He was trying to give his number to her. He's Devin? Yeah, I don't know. Like, I didn't ask that.
Starting point is 00:27:54 So I went back to the table and I sat down and I was like, is somebody trying to ask you out? And in my head, I was like trying to process it because I didn't want to do nothing about it. You know? Well, that's weird. Who would do that on like some? You're obviously on a date. Like you can tell when there's two people at a coffee shop who are on a first day.
Starting point is 00:28:11 How can you tell? I don't know. It's just like the awkwardness. You're looking for the awkward people because they don't get along. It's just like that. You probably hear their small. talk like so how was your day? Okay so you were giving off first date vibes with
Starting point is 00:28:23 Aaron in line and I guess another guy saw that and thought he could swoop in so like I went back to the counter and I was like I said it like really loudly and I was like who's Devin like I'm on a date who did this? Oh wait you're saying that? You confronted the baristas in front of Aaron
Starting point is 00:28:41 in front of the whole like coffee establishment wonder it got weird and I admit like it got awkward and so she ended up coming out over and she was like what are you doing, calm down. And I like, we went back to the table and like, nobody answered me. Devin never came forward? Devin never came forward.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Devin was scared. And so, like, yeah, it got awkward after that. I went back to the table. We hung out for like 20 minutes. 20 more. Wait, that was only 10 minutes into the date that happened. Holy heck. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:09 So, look, she's great. I made it awkward. I want to redo. We never even talked about puzzles. Yeah. Just threw the whole thing off. It would just send up so. many red flags that you're like a crazy jealous type.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Even though it's an inappropriate move for Devin to make whoever the hell Devin is. Or could have been seen as like a chivalrous move standing up for your date. Yeah. But it's not your place yet. Yeah. It's definitely how we should spin it when we call Aaron and say he was standing up for you and standing up for the date. Maybe we should just spin it as like he's embarrassed. He wants to redo.
Starting point is 00:29:46 Yeah, that's kind of what I was hoping. I just want to apologize and I just want to be like, can we just try it again? Yeah. Okay. So you haven't apologized yet? No, no, no. Like, I have, but she hasn't texted back. Oh.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Alexis, if you were on that date, would you give him another chance? I mean, for the case of this segment, yeah. Totally. Wait. Don't ever stop another guy from hitting on me. Well, because I hope I'm going to get hit on a lot more times in public. So, like, I don't want that to happen every time, you know? Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Well, okay. I was hoping for a stronger. answer from you there. I said yeah, probably. I said for the segment. We'll hope for a yeah, probably, when we call Aaron and try and get you a second date update right after this, all right? Great, thanks. All right, man. Hold on. Brook and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Nothing worse than getting hit with some FDSA. First date swoop action, where somebody else tries to hit on your date while you're currently with them. But that's what happened to one of our listeners, Corey, who took a woman named Aaron out to coffee.
Starting point is 00:30:52 And while they were there, one of the baristas wrote their phone number onto Aaron's cup. And then, Corey had to deliver it to her. So just insult to injury right there. And in processing what to do, Corey thought the best move was to just go up and confront the barista in front of everybody. Oh, my God. So loudly and so awkwardly.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Now he's not going to call back, which maybe means that wasn't the best move in the way. Oh, man. Her name's not Devin. The good news is, just like the coffees that Alexis used to serve at her barista job, you can always ask for a redo. And that's what we're doing today. No. If something was wrong, it wasn't my fault in them, Jeff. It's never her fault.
Starting point is 00:31:34 The machine must be broken. Well, it wasn't Corey's fault that happened on his date. It was the confrontation that turned everything sour. I think Corey can be forgiven for being put into a rough spot. Oh, I don't. I think he knows he did bad. Yeah, I definitely overacted. But we're just speculating. So we're going to find out once and for all when we call Aaron how she felt about it because
Starting point is 00:31:58 maybe she felt like it was a very heroic move. I feel like it's a big mystery to Jeff still. I think he's just trying to defend our man. I am. I'm on Corey's side. He's always trying to defend our listeners. It's hard to do this job sometimes over here trying to be the hero, the white knight of the listeners on the phone.
Starting point is 00:32:15 I appreciate you, Jeff. I appreciate you, Corey. You just need Aaron to appreciate you, too. So let's call her and force her to appreciate you. Let's do it. Hey, we're looking for Aaron. This is she? Oh, Aaron, you made a big mistake.
Starting point is 00:32:40 Oh, my gosh, Jeff. Do not start like that. Hi, Aaron. I'm sorry. A little mift. No, you made the right choice is what she did. Yeah, well, I don't know about that. Well, you know, we fix it.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Yeah, sorry. I know. Who is it? This is a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. We're a whole show. Okay. A show, like a fun, yay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Yeah, this is a segment that we do on our show. That's called a second date update, where we try to help our listeners meet up with somebody that they went out with recently for a second time. And you're calling me because I went on a date. Bingo. Kind of, yeah. Yeah. And the guy was really interested in you. His name is Corey.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Oh, yeah, okay. Uh-huh. You remember, Corey? Yeah, she's not going to forget. I'd love to hear her side of the story. Yeah, I wasn't loving your reaction to the name Corey there. Yeah, it makes sense, though. We're just trying to help Corey figure out if something maybe went wrong on the date or...
Starting point is 00:33:39 You want me to let you know? Yeah. Like what happened or whatever? Well, here, let me just tell you. Corey says he feels like he may have overreacted slightly to the situation. I don't know if we should put slightly in there. It sounds like he overreacted. mild, very light jump to conclusions of what happened.
Starting point is 00:34:00 A mild confrontation at the coffee shop. With the barista, leaving a phone number on your cup. I mean, that's not exactly what happens. What do you mean? We only have Corey's side of the story, so maybe he missed something. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's kind of like embarrassed.
Starting point is 00:34:23 So, like, I, so I'm a girl. Yeah. Yeah. Whoa. That's not groundbreaking. Okay. I'm supposed to react to that. You all, you all go on dates and, you know, you tell your friends where you're going and you do that. Right.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Okay. You're like safety net. Your girlfriend. Yeah. So I have a friend that is a barista at the coffee shop that I chose for a. for us to go to. And so often I'll be like, if I drop my spoon on the ground, this person is crazy and I need you to come over and, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:35:03 Like you're not buying, but she's keeping an eye out for me or whatever. So I'm confused. So what does it have to do with the number and the name on the cup? Did you already want out of it? Was that the secret code? It's a secret code or something. So listen, so I do this thing. My hobby is speed puzzle.
Starting point is 00:35:22 Oh yeah, he told us about that. He was excited about that. He thought that was cool. Oh, and so I have a team of four, or I had a team of four, but our fourth member recently moved. And it's Devin's number who is a person that my friend wanted me to text to be like, hey, I hear you're a puzzler. He put the number on my cup, and then they outlined it in the shape of a puzzle piece.
Starting point is 00:35:47 Oh, what? He told us about that, but he didn't mention anything about the puzzle. piece. Yeah. He was more focused on the number than actually looking at it. Oh, yeah. Okay. Why wouldn't your friend just text you the number of Devin? It's a busy day at the coffee shop.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Like the line was really long. And so I think she saw me and was like, oh yeah, I got to tell her about Devin. Oh, my God. So he's making a scene and it's... Why didn't you explain this to him when he was yelling? This was before I even got the cup. And then I see him yelling at the people. And then he comes back. So you didn't really know
Starting point is 00:36:24 that that's what the confrontation was about until he brought the cup over to your table. He brought the cup and I saw the number and the name and I was like, I didn't know. And nobody knew who Devin was because Devin wasn't there in that coffee shop. No, Devin is not a barista. I thought Devin was just a scared cat
Starting point is 00:36:40 hiding in the back. If you want to talk about a scaredy cat who's hiding right now, that would be Corey hiding on the other line listening to this conversation. And this got to be embarrassing. Hi. Yeah, no. How you doing? Doesn't sound embarrassed. Yeah. Sorry, Aaron.
Starting point is 00:36:54 That's how this segment works. Yeah. Wait. So, wait. So let me just clarify. Devin is a gal that's supposed to be on your team. And, like, there was no Devin back. You had a friend who was a barista back there.
Starting point is 00:37:06 That's right. Wait, what? Who's this? That's Corey on the other line. He's been listening to this conversation quietly. Coming in a little high. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:14 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's just like, like, nobody told me that. I would. rather have heard that than just like nothing, you know? Like, please tell me the truth.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Like, I want to know what is going on here so that I can, like, judge it appropriately. Like, I was just living in a fancy world. Yeah, well, we had just met. I didn't know if, like, you would also get mad that my friend was there. You know what I mean? Like, why would I get mad at that? I thought you would get mad because you already yelled at the baristas, you know?
Starting point is 00:37:49 Yeah. It's kind of a solid read on Aaron's part there. Dude, I don't even know, man. It just blows my mind that your choice was to not explain. I thought you wanted to apologize for this. That was an apology if you really look hard at it. Like, I'm apologizing for reacting off of something that, like, I didn't. I did react big.
Starting point is 00:38:11 I did react big. I'll fully admit that. I'm so sorry about that. But, like, I don't think you need a butt. I think you just leave it where you had it. I think you got a lot of butts. I'll leave it at that. Okay, there you go.
Starting point is 00:38:24 He's so deeply sorry for how he reacted and wishes that he could take it all back. And we would love to offer you the chance to take it all back by sending you on another date that we would pay for. We all know he was going to say it's your friend's fault for writing. But, anyway, that's our offer to you. We're all offered to send you and Corey out one more time on our dime. You know, let's put the pieces of this puzzle back together. Hey, we never even got to the puzzle. I mean, I guess it's, I guess it's up to him because.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Because it sounds like he's pretty mad at me for doing the girl thing of having a backup. I'm mad that you didn't tell me, that you didn't, like, you didn't feel okay to share. Okay. You know? Yeah, I didn't because, like, we'd known each other for 10 minutes, and I saw your reaction to the barista. And so I was afraid that you'd take it out on me, too. So I just protect myself by not bringing it up. Man, is this one giant red flag?
Starting point is 00:39:15 Yeah. It's a girl thing. Yeah. No, this is good. We get all of the therapy out now. And then the relationship is smooth sailing the rest of the way. I have told myself many times that would be the case of the past. The hardest part is the first date.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Yes. The hardest part. All jigsaw puzzles after that. Exactly. So there you go. Erin, we'll send you out. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Yeah. I mean, honestly, our first day was really only like 30 minutes maybe. So I guess, like, I'd be open to going out on a longer date. Corey, she's being very forgiving here because she realized. that you didn't know the full scope of what really was going on with the phone number on her cup. She sees that. Can you be forgiving of Aaron and try this thing again with less confusion and yelling next time? Yeah, let's give another shot.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Yeah, let's do it. Well, congratulations, YouTube. You guys going to meet up one more time. Why do I have a feeling we're not going to hear an update, update on this one?
