Starting point is 00:02:49 It looks like I'm the only one that showed up on a classic Saturday second day update. So I'm going to leave my BenMil code at the bottom. If anyone wants to send me some extra cash, that would be awesome. I need a raise. Imagine being married for a couple decades, and then it doesn't work out. That sucks. And now you have no choice but to try dating apps. Oh.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Yeah. It's the first time you've ever seen matchmaking apps before, and that's when you get the best advice ever. What's that? Three words, plenty of fish. Oh, not that one. You're being sarcastic here, I see. One of our listeners tried it, and I don't think you're going to be. believe what happened on her very first meetup.
Starting point is 00:03:36 It's definitely plenty of fish-ish. And she's going to spill the ish when we hear from her in your second date update. Next. Brook and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Imagine getting back on the dating apps after being married for years. Okay. That would be weird.
Starting point is 00:03:55 What does that look like? Just my parents. In other words, horror? Fear? It's worse than the movie Saw 5. I'm not even talking about the writing in that. Oh, my God. I forgot there's like 10 of those. Yeah. The scripts, not great. And you're just jumping into a scary new world that maybe you've never even really experienced before. And we've got a woman who recently cannonballs back into the dating pool and needs a little help from us today. Her name is Vanessa. So Vanessa, welcome to the show. Thanks, guys. Thanks for having me on.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Yeah, it sounds like your experience is more of a belly flop. said a cannonball. We don't know everything about your date yet. Why don't we start from the beginning and tell us who's this person that you met recently online? Well, I met a guy on Plenty of Fish and I am recently divorced. I've been married for years. I got married very young.
Starting point is 00:04:52 So had you ever done dating apps prior to this? Never. Oh, I've been married for a long time and so I'm kind of getting out there again. It's terrifying. It really is. You see all these horrible stories on the news and you're thinking, oh, my God, this person is a serial killer? Is it too good to be true? What kind of dating app are you on, though? Are you swiping or are you, like, on one of those real sophisticated ones where you fill out a bio?
Starting point is 00:05:15 She said plenty of fish, so I don't know about sophisticated. Yeah. My bad. My friends were like, plenty of fish is good. And I'm like, okay, I hope so. You have bad friends. Oh, yeah. I can't believe you actually trust those people. But that's interesting. So you met a guy. What's his name?
Starting point is 00:05:29 His name is Keith. Okay. And is this the first guy you've matched with and gone out with? Yes, yes. Oh, wow, that's kind of pressure. Wow, that's a big move. So what attracted you to Keith? I got a good vibe from him, and, you know, he likes dogs.
Starting point is 00:05:45 He's kind of been a similar situation where he said he's getting back out there, and we talked a little bit online, so I kind of felt good about him. Okay, okay. So how long did it take? I mean, I'm assuming you guys met up in real life, right? Yeah, yeah. So he was really sweet. He was like, well, where do you want him?
Starting point is 00:06:01 go and I'm like, oh, that's nice. And so I suggested the botanical gardens. Oh. Oh. Yeah. It's funny. You said that? I was like, ooh.
Starting point is 00:06:10 And then I'm like on the only guy that's probably owing back. Nothing says sexy like some orchids. Yeah. Botanical garden once when I was a kid. And they sound they were so cool. Things get hot by the reflection pool. I'm sure. It is kind of humid in those places.
Starting point is 00:06:22 He did have a lot of plants in his like photos. And I was just kind of like, well, maybe he knows about plants. So I thought maybe he would like it too. Yeah, no. Definitely spice up the conversation with some exciting plant talk. So how did that go? Somebody made, this is like a museum date. I mean, I feel like walking is less awkward than sitting at a bar.
Starting point is 00:06:41 That's true. Yeah. I got to walk too. Look at this flower. You know, there's a lot of other people around and you got plants. Oh, yeah, because you're worried about the serial killer angle of it all still. Exactly. She's like, we're going to a butterfly farm or something.
Starting point is 00:06:54 This is your first date that you've been on since you were married. Yeah. You must have been nervous. How did it go? Well, I mean, I was pleasantly surprised. He was dressed a bit more casually than I was. But we, um, we strolled around and we discussed flowers and I gave him some facts about orchids, you know, little things that I've learned over the years, you know, just conversation starters,
Starting point is 00:07:15 hopefully, you know. Do you think that you were yourself on the date? Yeah, I do. I was surprisingly relaxed. I mean, I was super nervous at first, but I calmed down as soon as he, like, you know, I just got a good vibe from him. He was really calm. He showed up.
Starting point is 00:07:30 You're in, like, a pleasant. an environment that you're comfortable with. The Zoloft is hitting just right. That's awesome. But did you just talk about orchids? Well, no. I mean, there was lots of other plants. We talked about a lot of stuff.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I mean, there was just one really embarrassing moment. He knocked over a decorative, like, water can thing. Oh, no. And it broke. And I was like, an employee's like, oh, I was like, oh, my gosh. So I just made a joke that he was, like, dangerous to plants. And I'm, like, hoping he didn't get offended. I don't know
Starting point is 00:08:01 I'm sure So that's the one thing you found That went wrong with your date Is that you may have offended him With your plant joke Yeah I'm just scared that I offended him But he seemed okay
Starting point is 00:08:12 We sat down And we got tea from the little stand And the date ended really, really well I thought I mean he walked me to my car Gave me a hug I told him I had a great time This is really wholesome
Starting point is 00:08:24 Yeah it is A little too wholesome For the show I know I'm a little worried. I'm like, maybe this is too good to be true. But, I mean, we had a nice time and I told him. I said, look, I would love to see you again and just kind of do something similar or maybe
Starting point is 00:08:36 go out to eat or something like that. But I haven't heard from him. And I'm just kind of upset right now. You may have been out of the dating game for a while, but you have caught up so quickly. You're immediately on the apps. And when things go wrong, you come right to us. That's what everybody does. It's dating nowadays.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Yeah. Good job. Thank you. I'm just, like I said, I'm learning to get back out there. And, I mean, it works a case scenario if I did screw up, I did do something wrong, because I'm so new to the dating, you know, game again that maybe, you know, if I made a mistake, I can learn from it. It could be a learning moment. I can move on and improve myself. That's a good attitude. That's a good positive attitude. And even if it doesn't work out with Keith, just like your app says, there are plenty of fish out there for you to hook up with and discuss orchids with.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Right. Right. Okay. So how long has it been since your botanical garden date happened? It's been like two weeks. Okay. Okay. That's a long time in the modern dating world. But it's part of the experience. You need to get ghosted a little.
Starting point is 00:09:34 Yes. Absolutely. Your first ghosting. Yeah. You're like, aw. Exactly. Well, Keith's got some splaining to do. And we're going to get them on the line for answers in your second date update right after this.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. If you're just joining us for the second date, we've been talking to Vanessa, who, after many years. of marriage recently hopped back into the dating world. Yeah. Even though she was nervous, she went
Starting point is 00:10:03 full out. Yeah, she did. All the stereotypical hot date things. Botanical gardens, cups of herbal tea, even edgy plant humor. Yeah. It was intense, to say the least, but two weeks later,
Starting point is 00:10:20 she's getting her very first taste of ghosting. Isn't sure why. Now, Before we call Keith here, I do want to ask you, Vanessa, since you said you were the one who suggested the botanical gardens, you think it's possible that Keith maybe wasn't as into plant dates as you were? She thought that he was just because of his profile picks, but maybe he just thought, I look good in that picture. Sure. Did you pick up a vibe like that at all? Yeah, I mean, that's a possibility.
Starting point is 00:10:50 I know most guys are, but not everyone's a flower guy. Yeah. Yeah. He could see you as a botanical garden lady where he's more of a beer garden type of dude. Equally fun gardens. Yeah. And maybe we can find a garden somewhere in between to send you on your next date. Let's reach out.
Starting point is 00:11:08 We're going to dial his number right now and hopefully he picks up, okay? Okay. All right. Okay. Don't let this ruin the rest of your dating experience. One bad egg does not mean they're all rotten. Oh, I thought you meant us. No, well, because we probably will.
Starting point is 00:11:21 That too. We're going to try our best here. I'm calling him right now. Hey, we're looking to speak with Keith. This is he. Who's calling? Hey, man. This is a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Hello, Keith. Hi. Okay. Good morning. Good morning. Hi. Hi. We're calling because we're doing this segment.
Starting point is 00:11:52 It's called a second date update. I don't know if you know about that, but it's where if one of our listeners goes out with somebody and afterwards they're not getting a call back. They can email us to reach out to them. and try and figure out if there's a reason for that. Oh, my God. Come on, it's kind of fun. I mean, who would ever think that you'd be called for a reason like this? I don't even want to ask who's the person.
Starting point is 00:12:18 You don't want to ask? No. I mean, you should see it as a compliment. It's a good thing that they felt so strongly about you. They reached out to us for help. But in this case, it's a woman named Vanessa. Okay, yeah, that's why I didn't want to ask What?
Starting point is 00:12:35 No Botanical Garden Vanessa Yeah, yeah Oh my gosh Why did you say you don't even want us to ask Listen, I don't know what she told you But that woman, she's a freak What?
Starting point is 00:12:52 A freak Talking about the same, Vanessa It's always the ones you least expect I guess You're not wrong A freak how? I don't want to speak bad on anybody, but first and foremost, we met up on this app, plenty of fish, and she was deliberately catfishing me with these pictures from like 10, 15 years ago. Oh, wait, but that's an accident.
Starting point is 00:13:16 She doesn't understand. I always think about that when you get back into dating after that long. How do you have good photos for an hour? Yeah, that's a good point. Because if you were married, there's no way a husband was taking good pictures of you. Well, I'm sorry. You and Bill on the couch. Do you know all of this, Keith, about Vanessa?
Starting point is 00:13:29 that it's her first time, at least in a long time, on the dating apps? No, ever. Well, I mean, she said she was married for a good little while, but it was obviously a longer while than I thought. Wait, are you saying that she was a lot older
Starting point is 00:13:43 than you expected? The pictures made me think we were around the same age, but honestly that woman could be my mother at this point. Oh. Well, were they in black and white? Because that's normally a sign. Okay. And what part of that turns you off?
Starting point is 00:13:58 Oh, my gosh. I don't even you guys. He's joking. He's joking. Yeah, sort of. I mean, it doesn't ever feel good when you expect one thing and you get something else when you start a date, right? So right at the beginning, you were turned off? I was shocked, but I'm just like, listen, I'm already out here.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Might as well just go through with it. Okay. And we ended up going to this botanical garden. Right. We heard that that was actually her idea, but I'm more curious about why you said she's a freak. How did that come up? I thought he just meant because of the pictures. Is that what you meant?
Starting point is 00:14:31 There could be multiple meanings here. No, we're walking through the garden, and she's just getting aggressive. Like, she's asking me, what kind of pictures do I want from her? And she keeps going on about it. And I'm like, it's okay. I don't need anything. What? Oh, she wanted a hot picture.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Oh, but she's asking what ones that she can send to you? Apparently, but I don't know if they're going to be 15 years old, too, or what? Oh, yeah. Well, it's nice of her to ask what you like. Hey, those take work. Yeah. I mean, she's like, do you want one side or do you want both of them? It's an awkward, it's an awkward assumption that anyone wants them, period.
Starting point is 00:15:11 I mean, you're at the botanical gardens in the daytime, totally sober. Yeah. Exactly. And I told her, I don't need any of that. And she made this weird comment. She was like, oh, you want the real thing. Oh. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:15:25 Okay. She was married for a long time. Maybe she's like living out what she didn't get to do before. Or maybe she thinks that this is how dating works now, you know? Yeah, she's trying it out. It's one thing to be trying it out, but she literally suggested they had this little plant shop in the garden, and she suggested we go behind it and do things. What?
Starting point is 00:15:45 Oh, wow. What is happening? Vanessa. Dude, I would have been mortified. I did not get that vibe from her when we were talking to her before. How did you even respond? I had no time to respond. She was like, there's nobody in the women's restroom.
Starting point is 00:16:02 What? And that was all a turnoff to you? Oh, yeah. It was that. And then having to sit down and drink tea casually after that. Oh, God. Yeah. After you, like, Loki rejected her.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Make awkward eye contact the entire time. Okay. Well, the good news is you won't have to worry about awkward eye contact in this situation because she is on the line. Oh, Vanessa. So you can't see her, but she does want to talk to you. Oh, wow. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:16:34 She literally heard all the bit. Yeah. I think she needed to. I think so. Vanessa, are you there? Yeah, yeah, I'm here. Vanessa, you dog. I mean, like, that's just what men want, right?
Starting point is 00:16:45 And that's just how I am. I'm very active. I'm like, you know, I have a very high drive. Oh, wow. Okay. I didn't know I was dating a snowflakes. You know. I mean, if you're not going to be, you know, a man, then I'm going to have to take the initiative.
Starting point is 00:17:04 What are you talking? Keith, she's calling you out, dude. What do you have to say to that? Whoa. Do you think taking initiative is going behind a plant shop? It doesn't have to do like that. That's too much. Well, it was the perfect opportunity.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Nobody was there. It's the first day. You don't do that. Oh, my gosh. Men these days. Men these days. Oh. A lot of people would like this.
Starting point is 00:17:29 I don't. If it was a Netflix in Chile, you wouldn't be shocked. It's the gardens really threw it off. In the daytime. I mean, put yourself in my shoes for a second. After the date, she starts sending me weird messages to come over. She's telling me that she has these adult movies on Blu-ray. On Blu-ray.
Starting point is 00:17:50 That's still a thing? Putting in an adult movie. Vanessa. Scratch. Let me fix it. Vanessa, you have those? Well, those were my husbands. I got them in the divorce.
Starting point is 00:18:00 Good for you. You kept on to navigate the internet together. It's nice of you to offer to share that with your dates, though. That's really sweet. But your date isn't responding to any of your text messages and you keep going? Well, he never said no. Yeah. But he didn't say yes.
Starting point is 00:18:19 You know? Well, now this is a good chance for him to say yes because we're going to offer to send you two out on another date. And Keith, if you're open to trying this and giving Vanessa another chance, we'll pay for it. I mean, you know what you're going to get this time around. Yeah. I mean, she says herself that she's very forward. She's open. She's just putting herself out there only because she felt such a good connection with you, I'm assuming.
Starting point is 00:18:44 So. Yeah. It sounded like such a sweet, innocent date. I still can't get over. It was. It was sweet and innocent. I will never look at a botanical garden the same. She didn't want it to be sweet and innocent.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Well, maybe the next one can be a little bit better because we'll pay for it, Keith, if you say yes to another date with her. Absolutely not. Okay. You're such a win. I mean, really. I think that you, like, going forward in your dating life, Vanessa, maybe should be a little more up front about what you're looking for. Yes, full up and frontal is what people are looking for. I mean, it sounds like your game to do that before you even meet anyone.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Yeah. My grandkids told me about tender, so I think I want to jump on that. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Starting point is 00:21:09 If you've ever successfully fooled around in a botanical garden. The more I say it, the hotter it sounds. Anyone ever? I mean, I don't think you'd get caught. Nobody would suspect it. Yeah. You know what I do. It's not like they're knocking on the door to the bathroom if you've been in there for too long.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Actually, I'm going to be like, ooh, their first kiss ever. Yeah. Or their grandparents. Especially her, yeah, how she comes off. Yeah. Right. Look at her and suspect it. We didn't even really go back to the fact that she basically catfished him.
Starting point is 00:21:40 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. My accident, though. Maybe. She doesn't know what catfishing is. We don't know. She was a lot more seasoned than we gave her credit for.
Starting point is 00:21:49 It's true. But my guess is. that Brooke is thinking the exact same thing that I am. Where have all the loose men gone? Where did they go? They used to be roaming all over. Come on, guys, why are you keeping it zipped up nowadays? Why do you men have self-respect?
Starting point is 00:22:05 I know. It's just a different day and age now. People are hesitant to get freaky behind plant shops and broad daylight. Wow. I never thought we'd be here, Jeff. Yeah, anyway, listening to us on the podcast right now, make sure you hit that subscribe button.
Starting point is 00:22:20 If you need help in your dating life, you can always email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling you back. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Every single guy knows that if you're picking up a lady in your whip, you need to make sure it's looking clean and smelling like success. That's the first step in tricking her into thinking you're a responsible adult. She won't have any clue that your floor was strewn with empty Red Bull cans and old McDonald's rappers like two hours. ago.
Starting point is 00:22:53 And I know one of our listener wishes that he would have done a better job tidying up his vehicle because his entire night was ruined when his date reached down and pulled something out from between the seats. It was definitely incriminating and left all of us in shock. You're going to hear it in your brand new second date update. Next. Brook and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update.
Starting point is 00:23:16 For a lot of guys on the dating apps, coming up with the perfect opener is like, painting the Mona Lisa. Wow. Takes a lot of time, huh? Pure art. You just put something down, you stand back, you study it. Add a little word here.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Adjust that line there. Take off the eyebrows there. Yeah, tossing an extra emoji, delete that pun, and after four hours, you finally send her. Four hours. Hey, what's up?
Starting point is 00:23:43 Wow. And no response. We put hay in there, which is, like, so personal. You shouldn't have used the apostrophe. Oh, is that what it was? I thought the three question marks were going to work. Today we have a listener who says he actually put in some work, real work into figuring out an opening line with a 60% reply rate, which is extremely high for guys on these apps.
Starting point is 00:24:09 Isn't it? That's high? Very, very high. Yikes. Yeah. What's the average? Like 2% reply rate? Maybe lower.
Starting point is 00:24:16 How many messages are you guys sending? It's very difficult. His name is Carson. So Carson, welcome to the show, ma'am. How you doing, guys? Are you going to let him deliver the line? Yeah, I don't know what the line is. I'm curious.
Starting point is 00:24:28 I thought you had it written down. I don't have a written. So, like, what kind of line are we working with here, Carson? We don't even need to talk, but I was wondering if you would critique my profile. I'm new here. Oh, Alexis. Okay, what do you think about that, Alexis? An invitation to critique his profile.
Starting point is 00:24:46 I don't know. It's kind of tricking you into looking him up, like looking at his point. Aren't they then looking at your profile with a negative viewpoint? That's what I'm going to say, because you're only going to pick out negative stuff to be funny about. You're not going to say. But it's a conversation. So Alexis is in the 40% that would not reply to this. Or I'd probably reply something so rude that they don't reply back.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Like I'd be like this photo is terrible. Even that, I mean, that's a response in itself. That's a win, right, Carson? Even if it's mean. Yeah, I mean, it did lead to someone. Her name is Leanne. Okay. Leanne, okay.
Starting point is 00:25:18 I want to know what she said. Yeah. What was her critique? She said, I should smile more in photos because I look too serious. Oh, that's a nice one. Yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:30 If you have a good smile, then you should be showing that off, and women would like that. Impro tip, girls love it when you tell them that, too. Yeah. You should smile more. You look so good when you smile, right, ladies? Just in the photos. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:42 So did you send her a personal pick of you smiling? I did not. I said, well, you should see my smile in person. Oh, good better. That's smooth. She said, okay. Oh, she said okay. And you're like, look to your left out your window right now.
Starting point is 00:25:59 And you're smiling. So what did you guys do for your date then? I offered to pick her up. Oh. And we ended up going to a steakhouse. That's awesome. You're wanting to impress her with the steak dinner. I mean, you must really like this woman.
Starting point is 00:26:15 You know what? She's great. You know, we went to the steakhouse. things went really well. It was everything I hoped it would be. I want to hear some highlights. Did you smile at her the whole time? I tried to smile more, yes.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Good. Okay. So she sees that. It could be creepy if it's too much. That's all he did. Hey, how's your steak? What did you guys connect in hand? What did you guys connect over? Well, she's a rule in the sports.
Starting point is 00:26:44 I'm a big sports guy. Oh, that's cool. That was an instant connection. We like similar kinds of music. Okay. I mean, this all sounds really good. There was nothing awkward that happened on the date. Everything was great.
Starting point is 00:26:55 The awkward moment was on the way home. Okay. She saw something between the seats of my car. Uh-oh. And she reached down, she pulled it out, and it was a canister of lipstick. No. Oh.
Starting point is 00:27:11 I know. I know. That looks really bad. It probably looked like I was on another date. Or you just tell her like, look, that's not my shade. You know, at least you own it a little bit? I have mine at home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:22 I mean, anyone could have dropped it in your car, fallen out of a pocket or something, right? I don't know, sister or a friend. What did she say? Well, she certainly wanted to know where it came from. And I was honest with her. You know? I borrowed my ex-girlfriend's car.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Wait, you were driving your ex-girlfriend's car? Oh, it wasn't your car. Oh, no, that's worse than just... Oh, holy. And did that totally smooth everything over for the conversation? Tell her that? You know, mine was in the shop. I was trying to be straight up with her.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Obviously, the vibe kind of changed at that point. Why didn't you just say a friend? If I could go back and change it, I think I would. Oh, that is it. Yeah. It looked like, I thought I was getting a good night kiss. Everything was great. Obviously, that didn't happen.
Starting point is 00:28:12 That's why I'm here. I'm hoping maybe you guys can help me. Wait, and now she's not calling you back. Like, you haven't smoothed. it over yet? No, I haven't heard from her since. About a week or so. So everything was going good. It's just circumstance. What's the relationship with you and your ex before we call her?
Starting point is 00:28:30 They're on good terms enough for her to let and borrow the car. How good of terms? Like, we were always friends. We tried to date. It didn't work out. We're still friends. That's so cool. You guys can do that. Okay, that sounds like when you try to date somebody. Yeah. So, I mean, like you could describe her as a friend instead of an ex for sure. Yeah. Did you get it? chance to explain that to Leand? I didn't get a chance to because we were so close to her house.
Starting point is 00:28:53 That was kind of the end of it. Honestly, it's probably for the best. You don't probably want to be gloating about how great of a relationship you have with your ex-girlfriend on a first date with somebody else. I'm sorry, if you're driving her car, you're going to want to explain something, Jeff. Like, it's better than we're still sleeping together. And what answer is good when you're like, she's the best or you're like, oh, I hate her? Yeah. You're driving her car.
Starting point is 00:29:15 I don't know. I think it's a green flag if someone can get along with her. ex for a sure. Oh, absolutely. You know? Well, that's why I'm hoping you guys can get her on the phone and help me explain that to her because I don't know if she's going to listen to me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:27 All right. I'm going to let Brooke tackle that one. I was going to say the girls need to handle this because like... I'm friends with all sorts of exes. Yeah. Coming from a view is good. It's easy for a guy. Oh, we're best friends.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Yeah, what's wrong with him hanging with that? Yeah, yeah. Anyway, we'll call Leanne for you after this and try and help you get your second date update in just a minute. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date. update. If you're just joining us, let's quickly recap Carson's first date with a little game of good or bad.
Starting point is 00:29:56 That's fun. Steakhouse dinner. Good idea. Good. Lots of smiling. Good. Picking her up in your ex-girlfriend's white Jeddah. I don't know about that.
Starting point is 00:30:09 I had a white Jeddah. Every blonde had a white Jeddah. Every ex-girlfriend drives that car. I have blue Jeddah. So we're thinking that's probably the big. red flag that's been scaring Leanne away from a second meetup with Carson. But Brooke wisely
Starting point is 00:30:23 pointed out, actually it could be seen as a green flag that he doesn't have a toxic relationship with past love interest. Right, Brooke? Dude, I think that if you can be friends with an ex, it doesn't mean that you still have feelings for them. It's when you still have feelings is when things get dicey and you can't talk to them and you're angry and
Starting point is 00:30:39 everything. Okay, but what about friends with benefits no feelings? Is that still okay? Well, I mean, it's an ex, so it doesn't really count. All right. Carson, does that feel good? Does it give you a little bit of hope before we make this call? I'm optimistic. Okay, but there's no benefits with your ex, right? No, no, no. Okay. Okay, good. Good.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Well, besides the car, he doesn't get to borrow her car. Right. I meant the different types. Yeah, not the physical type of benefit. So let's reach out to Leanne. Hopefully she picks up and we can explain this whole thing and get her to go out with you again, okay? Sounds great, good. All right. Dialing you right now. Let's do it. Hey, is this Leanne? Yeah, this is her who's, who's, this? Well, this is actually a whole ensemble of people called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. We're a radio show. Hey, Leanne. Hi, good morning. Good morning. Thanks for saying it back. People don't say it back a lot. Yeah. I appreciate that. It's like when you say you're welcome or thank you.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Yeah, you're a nice person, Leanne. We're hoping that this can be a good morning for you because we're doing something called a second date update. Okay. All right. You know, I've seen it. I've seen it social media. Oh. You don't sound like you're a fan. Yeah. Well, thank you for finding it on social media. You can go to our podcast, too.
Starting point is 00:32:05 She didn't sound like she liked it. It just comes up in the algorithm. Yeah. You guys. Always be promoting. All right. It's always a disaster. It's always some nightmare case.
Starting point is 00:32:16 That's not true. No. That's not true. 99%. No, we only air the disaster cases. Just the ones that go viral. Yeah. And we're hoping this is not one of those.
Starting point is 00:32:25 Yeah. You'll never even see this in your feed because we're reaching out based on a date you went with with a guy named Carson. Oh, okay. Would you call it a disaster your date with Carson? I don't know. Carson, like, Carson. What are you doing, Carson? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:43 So we spoke to Carson earlier, and he had really glowing reviews about the date. Just what we know from it is that you two connected on a dating app. You said you really liked his smile, had a nice dinner at a steakhouse. There was no kiss at the end. He was a little surprised by that. No, disappointed, I think. Disappointed. But now you're not open to another one.
Starting point is 00:33:04 So he's trying to figure out if there's a reason. He must have left something out. I left something out? I think you did. Yeah, you did. I mean, I would be embarrassed, but he was driving his ex-girlfriend's car. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:22 Yeah. He did tell us that. I just didn't want to recap that part in case it wasn't a big issue for you. So I was kind of hoping. What was your reaction when he told you that? That's not okay. Why? That's not okay.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Like, okay, that just means that someone special in your life is still in your life. I mean, technically. Okay. Sounds like you feel threatened by the ex-girlfriend a little bit. No, not that. I've just, I've dated guys in similar situations. and it always isn't bad in my personal situation. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Well, that's okay that you can think that, but let Brooke explain to you why you're wrong. That's not what I'm trying to do. But I do think that you could maybe change your stance on a little bit if you thought of it more as like a green flag. Like, here's a guy who still respects someone that he dated that he was close to. And it's good that they can still have a non-romantic relationship. Right? Yeah. I guess I never considered it that way.
Starting point is 00:34:28 I mean, have you ever, like, had a friend and then got your feelings kind of mixed up in that friendship? Like, it's hard to have opposite gender friends because you're like, oh, my God, how much do I like this person? And then you try out dating and you're like, whoa, I didn't like him that much. Did you know that was the case with Carson that he was friends with that girl first before they tried dating and then it didn't work out? Yeah, they realized that they weren't meant to be together. I mean, no, no. I mean, this is all kind of like a lot in general, but good point. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:58 Look at you being a reasonable human. Yeah, I love it. Okay, so is that something that would maybe change your mind a little bit about possibly seeing him and giving him another chance? Possibly. The radio person, I don't know her name, but like she did bring up some pretty decent points. I feel like I didn't deliver that. Good job. Her name was Alexis.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Give her all the credit. I mean, this all sounds really good to us in the room here, but I bet it sounds even better to Carson, who's been quietly listening on the other line, hoping to talk to you. Carson has been listening this whole time. Are you kidding me? I can hear you smiling through the phone. Yeah, I think he's there, Carson.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Hey, hey, guys. I'm here. Carson, what are you doing? What are you doing all this for? What is this? They are so cute. I felt a connection with you that I haven't felt with anybody, and I really want to try to make this work.
Starting point is 00:35:54 Oh, that's adorable. That's really sweet to hear that from you. Yeah, it is. See, he's not like those other guys that you dated that were yucky, you know, with their exes and things. Yeah, yeah. All right, well, look, I need to be 100% honest with you. We're getting it all out there right now.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Okay. I do live with my ex. Oh. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. That's how I was able to borrow the car. Brooke, Brooke, how dare you support this and say that it was totally innocent and no reflex? Why do you live with her? Yeah, Brooke, he's different, right?
Starting point is 00:36:35 He's like a sister. It's really not a big deal. A sister that you slept with. Don't do that. No, but they're in a good place now, Brooke. You said it yourself. You don't live with your ex. Like that feels like you were living together and then you broke up and you never moved out.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Did you move in together when you were in a relationship? I mean, I don't know. I don't really remember. There was a lot going on. It just kind of happened. I mean, it's like a time share situation for us. We split the rent. We rotate the car.
Starting point is 00:37:03 It's a good setup. I mean, seriously, like, I told you guys this is all disastrous. Leanne, look, trust me when I say this, it's not a disaster. Oh, God. Oh, that's a big trust. That's a famous last words. Why don't you come over this weekend. We can hash it out.
Starting point is 00:37:20 And it's my weekend to have the master bedroom. Wait, what? Oh. There's only one bedroom? No. You guys swapped the bed. That's a good living situation. Hey, it works for us.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Don't judge. Where do you sleep when you don't have the bedroom? I'm in the car. That's what it's for. Oh, my God. A car slash bedroom. Oh, love it. You're living in your car.
Starting point is 00:37:45 car? Well, only part-time. And remember, it's her car, not his car. And it's a jetta. Yes. It's a tiny car. I have a headache. I'm sorry about that whole green flag thing. No, it is a green flag. It's a green flag that he is such a good roommate that his ex doesn't even want to let him go. That's how awesome he is to live with. Dude, you share a bed that you guys rotate on the weekends. Hold on. We don't share the bed. When she's in it, I'm not. When I'm in it, she's not. We have a calendar. It's set. up. The bed calendar. He's an organized community ticket.
Starting point is 00:38:19 I can't say it. Man. Even Alexis is coming around on him now. The girls love you, bro. This is a nightmare. It could be your nightmare if you say yes to another date with Carson. And we would pay for that date if you're open to it. It will be your nightmare if you say yes.
Starting point is 00:38:38 No, it's not going to be your nightmare until it goes viral. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I don't want this to go viral. I don't want to go on another date. Okay. If you're, oh, no.
Starting point is 00:38:50 If you're seeing this on socials, do not comment, do not like this. Oh, man. Carson, it sounds like a no from Leanne there. Well, Leanne,
Starting point is 00:38:59 you know, you didn't complain when I used the ex's debit card to pay for dinner. What? Wait, you did you have her money? You share that, too?
Starting point is 00:39:08 Get out of here. You never told me that. How would it come up in conversation? Yeah. All right. Well, I mean, Carson, you were worried that the problem was that you picked her up in your ex's car. And turns out the issue is that you actually swap beds with your exes because you live together. Oh, and your ex pays for everything.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Well, half of the time. I mean, when you say it like that, I think I sound like a pretty good dude. Oh, God. You're a catch, buddy. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Starting point is 00:41:14 I mean, dude, how did Carson think that it was okay to withhold that information from us in part one? Has he said? A lot of information. Because Brooke literally asked him, what's your relationship with your ex like? And he said, oh, we're still friends. Didn't mention, oh, yeah, we share the same master bed off of a rotating calendar. Would have been a little bit of a different story for us. Sorry, if you have a one bedroom apartment, you can't call it a master bed.
Starting point is 00:41:41 It's the only bed. I didn't want the call to end because the more he's kept talking, the more codependent he is. He uses her debit card, her car, her house. What does her clothes? No, the same toothbrush. Oh, yeah. Wouldn't be surprised. But honestly, just be truthful with us up front so Brooke doesn't come off looking as bad as she did.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Yeah, and that poor girl didn't want this to hit the air, and now because of him. You know it's going by.
