Starting point is 00:03:05 Back to back classics. We've got you covered. It is the official second date podcast. Back to back. I mean throw back to back. Okay. Because it's a classic. That is.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Trademark it printed. Ashton. Get the legal team on that. Don't let them steal that for me. Jose is on it today. I love it. All right, we're going to get to that. But we do have, you know, just so you know,
Starting point is 00:03:25 we have been putting up videos in studio videos of the second dates up on our YouTube. at Brooke and Jeffrey. And then we're also starting kicking off where we're doing a best-of compilation on Saturdays. Yeah. So if you do like the longer versions, every Saturday,
Starting point is 00:03:41 we're going to have a real long one on our YouTube, which is also at Brooke and Jeffrey. Yeah, and not just second dates. It's all of our content. Yeah, yeah. So I think today is Old Allen phone taps. Yep.
Starting point is 00:03:50 If you don't know who old Alan is, buckle up, my friends. Go find out. Amazing. He wants to know you. I'll tell you that. Okay, again, YouTube at Brook and Jeffrey. But first comments,
Starting point is 00:04:00 before we get to these classes, Yeah, Aaron said, I've been away on my honeymoon and didn't listen to any podcast while we were away. But I'm back now and I love that I have a stockpile I can binge again. Yeah, that's the upside of it. Happy marriage. Yeah, I can't believe you didn't listen to us on your honeymoon? I don't know. Who else did you have to pay attention to?
Starting point is 00:04:17 Yeah, what? All right, let's get to it. It starts right now. As a guy, I can tell you, a lot of men feel this pressure when approaching a woman to say something funny or clever. something Jeff like right off the bat. Something Jeff like, that's how they're describing it. To catch the girl's attention and get positive momentum. Because we know your success rate has been...
Starting point is 00:04:42 See, Brooks talking to me right now. Oh, man. Whatever I just said, I don't even know. It's so Jeff like. Unfortunately, though, that pressure can feel so intense, it breaks the will of even the chillest of bros. Oh, man. To the point, they just don't even try to attempt it anymore.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Okay. But one of our listeners found a sweet little hack where you can exchange numbers in person without uttering a single word to each other. And women seem to really like it. You're going to hear how he was able to exchange digits, get a date, zero word spoken in your brand new second date update. Next. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. We've been seeing studies lately, and we've talked about this on the show, where more and more men, especially Jen,
Starting point is 00:05:30 Z guys are scared to approach women in person and try to strike up a conversation. Very scary that gender. It is. Which is different than me who doesn't approach anybody in person because I'm a shy boy. Shy boy gets nervous. But like Jeff... That's actually Jeff's real personality. So everyone knows.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Don't tell them. Just like Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park, life finds a way. And so did our listener. Connor, because in his email to us, he said he's trying something new to meet people more organically these days and watching TikTok to find creative ways to do that. So, Connor, welcome to the show, man. How you doing?
Starting point is 00:06:14 I'm doing all right, brother. How you doing? Hey, there's nothing more organic than following TikTok trends, my friend. Hey, they help. I am a little bit shy just to talk to you and ask, but what did you find on TikTok that helped your dating life? I came across this trend where apparently, because, These girls are putting their phone numbers on these bracelets, right?
Starting point is 00:06:34 And they see a guy they like, they give them a bracelet. Okay, wait, real quick. I'm picturing like the Taylor Swift friendship bracelet. It is those. Oh, that's what it is. Why do you know so quickly? Because I'm on TikTok. I can see the merit in it because then you don't have to like say words to each other.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Yeah. And if the guy doesn't call you, then you're like, cool, I just gave him a gift and he's got a nice little free bracelet. Yeah, he's totally going to wear that. He's not. So, wait, Connor, how did that help you? I had this random thought, right? I was like, if girls could do it, we should be able to do it too, right? That's right, my friend.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Make your friendship bracelets. All right. So you did some arts and crafts for yourself? Actually, I got one of my lady friends to help me to make this. Smart. Just drink some beads. Yeah. Well, I wouldn't be able to.
Starting point is 00:07:20 We'd be lost. I mean, honestly, it feels like it would work better the reverse, the way you're doing it. It's funny. Yeah, if it's bad and clunky rather than it's like cute and perfect. Woman would really appreciate it. Yeah, a little kooky maybe. But is this something that you put on just for when you're going out for the night? Or do you wear the bracelets all the time, even at work, just in case you meet someone?
Starting point is 00:07:41 I imagined him having the bracelets in his pocket and then pulling them out and giving them to someone. Yeah, but all the time, though? Like, you always have them on deck. That's what I'm saying. 24-7, are they on you? To be honest with you, this was new to me, right? So I kind of wanted to just try it out for just a full week. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Okay. So how many bracelets total? you give out in that week? Probably like a dozen. Okay, not too many. That's all right. How many callbacks did you get? So I got three.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Okay, that's 25%? One in four. Yeah. When I'm just texting me back said unsubscribe. Oh, that's funny. Kind of funny, borderline rude, but yeah, that's funny. But you know she's might with her friends doing it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:27 And so I'm assuming that's the girl that we're calling then. today? No, no, not there's a subscriber. No, he followed the rules. He really did unsubscribe. I agree. I hit it off with this girl named Ainsley. Ainsley. Okay. I mean, you've given out so many bracelets throughout the whole week. Did you remember which girl Ainsley was? To be honest, at first, I didn't. Okay. Oh, no. That's all right. You didn't tell her that, did you?
Starting point is 00:08:51 No, I didn't, but we did a picture exchange, so I knew who I was thought. Oh, good. She sent you a pick. You said her a pick. Of faces, I'm guessing. That's probably the most helpful. I'm glad you remember you. She said like five guys gave me bracelets last week. Was there a date? Yeah, it was, we got some lunch.
Starting point is 00:09:09 You got lunch? Lunch, okay. That makes sense. Like random guy in bar, hands bracelet. Let's do daytime. Smart girl. What was it like meeting her a second time? She was still wearing her bracelet.
Starting point is 00:09:19 That's cute. I guess that's a big thing. Yeah. And I actually brought her matching homemade necklace. It's kind of corny. To match her bracelet? Okay. And I'm assuming your lady friend helped you make that one too, but we won't tell Ainsley that.
Starting point is 00:09:34 I bet he'd figured it out by then. You just need a longer string. That's all a necklace takes. My boys got custom earrings with their name on, too. Yeah, he's got the whole set. What did you write on the necklace? Because you'd already put your phone number on the bracelet. Social Security number on this one?
Starting point is 00:09:50 No, no, no. I just, you know, I put a little note like, you're special. Cute. Did she like the necklace? Yeah, because apparently it reminded her of the show called Love Island. Wow. Yeah, but I don't know where this is in the show. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:04 We're hitting all the Gen Z things. Friendship bracelets, Taylor Swift, Love Island. Maybe she's just trying to make conversation. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. Okay. So you guys talked about Love Island. Yeah, well, you know what?
Starting point is 00:10:15 I'm kind of a fan of Love Island just a little bit. Bro, it's like everyone's guilty pleasure. I just saw a video of someone's boyfriend going nuts over it. Yeah, it's everywhere right now. It's drama. Anyway, sorry. It's a lot going on, but, um, We hung out for a bit over an hour.
Starting point is 00:10:29 And I expected a little more, but we hugged. And it was a good time. That sounds cute. Yeah. I mean, that's all inappropriate ending for a lunch date, right? Yeah. And have you talked at all? You know, all she really does, like, likes my text or I see that she reads them.
Starting point is 00:10:46 I'm kind of left on red, you know. But I think it's worth reaching out again and just kind of seeing what's going on because I thought we really connected. And even the Love Island thing, was so nice to have somebody else to be a fan of that show, so we're kind of on the same frequency, you feel me? Yeah. She's maybe saying the same thing, because it's, you know, Love Island,
Starting point is 00:11:06 like, you would think she's saying, oh, I'm so glad I found a guy who's into it. Right. Let's call her and find out, man. We're going to come back. We'll reach out to Ainsley for you. Wait, what do we do? Like, I haven't watched a show to welcome into the villa or something.
Starting point is 00:11:18 We have to meet at the fire pit. Okay. A new bombshell could come in and throw it off. What happened to just a simple rose on these shows? No, I'm going to hop on Amazon. We're going to, order a portable fire pit, throw on our bikinis, and come back and do your second date update. Love Island style right after this.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Thank you. All right, man, hold on. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. We just learned the hot new way to meet women, and that's friendship bracelets with your phone number on them. Yay. Oh, yeah. It's an idea our listener Connor found on TikTok where women are doing this to meet guys now.
Starting point is 00:11:55 So he thought, why can't a cool, confident man do it too? It worked. It's fine. I mean, it worked multiple times for him. It sure did, and that's how he met Ainsley. It's really cute. The two of them met up for a date talked a lot about the show, Love Island. But since then, she hasn't been responding to him very much.
Starting point is 00:12:15 And Connor is now starting to wonder if he just got voted off of her Love Island. Connor, how you feeling, man? I'm good. I might still have some options. Okay, so you got, wait, you got a backup plan then. Yeah, you know, I got a few other options. Oh, okay. Well, we can call all of your options when we're done with this first option, Ainsley.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Do options all have bracelets yet? I got to know if you've got backup bracelets for next week. Yeah. This doesn't work out. Like, how many extras did you make that you haven't been passed around? Well, actually, I don't think I needed much extras. I mean, I'm not a bad-looking guy. All right, Connors.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Coming with the confidence. Okay. But didn't you say like three out of 12 texts? Okay. Well, still, that's a high success rate for a man. So let's keep that confidence going. I'm going to dial Ainsley's number right now. Hopefully she picks up.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Sounds good. All right. Here we go. Hey, we're looking to speak with Ainsley. Yeah, this is her. Who's calling? We're a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Hey, Ainslie. I'm offended that you don't recognize us by our voices alone. We're not. It happens daily. Makes sense. Yeah. Okay, like what's going on? Did I win something? No.
Starting point is 00:13:37 You clearly haven't listened to the radio in a very long time. We don't give away anything. There's no budget. Actually, we may ask for money by the end of this one. Actually, so get your Venmo ready. But what we're doing is a segment here. It's called a second date update. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Okay. And that's something where we reach out to people who've gone out with somebody before. That person is not calling our listener back. and we're trying to figure out why. Oh, that's awkward. Totally, which is why we put it on for entertainment purposes. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:14:11 It could be fun, though. It could be somebody that you really like. Yeah, and in this case, it's a guy named Connor. Oh, yeah. I think I would like to maybe go out with him again. He was nice. Oh.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Oh, you would? Oh, it was easy. I feel like you've auditioned for a reality show before. I mean, it's just that the thing like there's this other guy who's also pursuing me and I just, I'm trying to be fair and figure out what's going on because I like both.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Okay. Another person in the picture. Who's the competition? What are you working with here? Brooke, what does that mean? I need to know what our boy Connor is up against, you know? I mean, he's a really nice guy. Listen, they're both nice that I don't really want
Starting point is 00:14:53 to lead either one of them on because it's kind of early. So I just kind of want to see how it progresses. Like, date each one of them a couple times and kind of get to know them so that I can actually make a choice. So you are going to call Connor back and go out with him again too? Yeah, because Connor is the one who gave you a bracelet, if you remember. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:10 I do remember. I still have it. It was really cute. Yeah, but the other guy didn't give you any handmade jewelry. And a necklace. No, you're right. I don't have any other handmade jewelry, and it was super cute. That's a few points that Connor already has up on this other history.
Starting point is 00:15:25 That's what I'm saying. Like, they're both really sweet. And it's like everybody can be sweet on the first date. Like, let's see. what this is like after a couple. I don't want to burn a bridge. Okay. But you're burning a bridge right now by not responding to him. All you're doing is liking his text. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, I just don't want to lead anyone on. I don't know. Maybe I'm not going about it the right way. So it's like, yes, I'm definitely still interested in Connor,
Starting point is 00:15:48 but I also don't want him to think that I'm like both feet in, gun hoe right out the gate. And then it's like, oh, this doesn't work out. And then like, be like really crushing. I think you are going 80 steps ahead of yourself here. You guys have had one lunch date. You know, I think if you were just honest with him and told him you liked him, wouldn't that make you feel good as a guy? I mean, yeah, that's why I'm willing to go out with him. I mean, everything you're saying makes sense. So I guess it makes me think about this a little bit differently. Well, I think Connor would feel very reassured if you actually relayed that message to him.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Because he's in the middle right now, unsure of where your head is out. Yeah, we're voting for Connor. Yeah, that's fair. Oh, texting your vote. Vote. Text in your vote. Well, I think there's a very good opportunity. Yeah, vote in.
Starting point is 00:16:30 I don't think we need any of that because there's a good chance for you to tell him those feelings directly since he is already on the phone right now waiting to speak with you. Oh, well, that's awkward. Okay. Like I said, that's what we enjoy about this segment. Yeah, Brooke and Jeffrey Island. Connor, are you there? Do you want to say hi to Ainslie? I didn't know you were hanging out with somebody else, but I guess that's cool.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Okay. Okay. Okay. So like, it wouldn't bother you if I'm kind of just seeing you both for a couple weeks and seeing who I really connect with? Yeah. I don't know if it bothers me, but I think it's a little weird. Yeah. Like, what does that mean? Connor, don't blow this. You had a yes when I was talking to her that she already wanted to see you. But suddenly you came on, you say one thing, and it's flipped to and I don't know. Stick up for yourself.
Starting point is 00:17:27 No, wait. Why are you being defecive? Like, I'm confused, Connor, because you told us you had other options, too. I mean, isn't that what dating is? Listen, don't tell her that. I mean, that was between you and me, right? Yeah, Brooke, what are you doing? You're trying to submarine him? She has options.
Starting point is 00:17:44 He has options. Everyone who single has options. That's what it is. It's something that we all acknowledge, but we don't actually talk about, Brooke. It's a secret. Well, that's the problem. It doesn't need to be a secret, Connor. You don't need to, like, feign like you're upset about it.
Starting point is 00:17:57 You can't be upset about it if you're doing the same thing. You don't have to have anybody tell you how to feel about how to live your life, Connor. It's okay. Just talk to Ainsley. Honestly, I'm not upset about it, right? I'm a little surprised. I thought you and me we were really trying to work this out. That's cute.
Starting point is 00:18:13 You just seem like a dope, awesome person. I kind of feel like we're a good match. Oh, that is so cute, Ainslie. Listen, Connor, I honestly, it's really sweet. And I really do appreciate how genuine you are. and you seem like a really good guy. So, I mean, yeah, I mean, I do think we could probably go out again, you know, just to see what happens. Okay, here we go.
Starting point is 00:18:36 We're back. Connor, well done. That's amazing to hear. I just kind of want to be on the same page with you. So you're going to pass on this next guy, right? Because we're chilling, we're getting to know each other. Oh. Oh, you want to be exclusive.
Starting point is 00:18:49 What? You know, I'm just trying to figure this out, right? So are you saying you want to see me or are you want to still? him or like what's going on. Wow. Okay. So like now you're giving off some pretty serious jealous vibes and I'm really not into that. I don't know that that's the case.
Starting point is 00:19:08 I mean, Connor, you would be doing the same thing, right? Like you would be only seeing her. Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not seeing anybody. You literally just said you had other options. Like maybe it's a better idea if we don't go out. Wait, what? No.
Starting point is 00:19:22 No. No. Angelie, here's the thing. Like, how do you? He's just saying, let's. really actually try this instead of not. Yeah. Connor,
Starting point is 00:19:31 remind her of the good times that you two had together. Yeah, we bonded over Love Island. I gave you the friendship bracelet and this necklace. Okay, I did like that. Maybe we should hang out then. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Well, okay. It's at this point, I caution Connor to not say any other words whatsoever. Because anything that you say could have a detrimental impact on Ainsley's decision here for a second date. Maybe they should just go to a movie so they don't have to talk. Yeah, I'm just going to officially ask now, now that she seems to be on board again, Connor, are you still cool with this?
Starting point is 00:20:05 Do you want to hang out with Ainsley? Honestly. Yeah? I don't know. Oh, what? Connor! Dude. All you had to say is yes.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Yeah, you know, but I just don't know if we should. This is why he is so exhausting. Just make a choice. So now, Connor, you don't want to go out with Ainslie? Oh, my God. Okay, listen. I really thought I liked you. I thought you liked me.
Starting point is 00:20:34 You were trying to be with other guys. That's cool. That's fine. But listen, I do have another girl. Okay. And I think she's a little more sure about what she wants. Then you, you guys just go eat about your people and sleep around then. So you are seeing someone else.
Starting point is 00:20:51 We've come to an agreement. They both have other options that they want to explore first. And if those don't work out, they'll come back to each of. This is why people give up on dating. So Ainsley, it looks like officially it's a no and a yes and another no and then a yes. And yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Yeah, this was a lot. Thanks for calling and ruining my day a little bit, I guess. But we also made it better at the same time. Right. Yeah. I mean... Yeah, at least I know Connor is no longer an option. Okay. Okay. Are you sure about that? Oh, my God. Oh, Connor. No, no. I'm done. We're hanging up.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hey, I'm Ruby Carr, the host of the podcast, Encore. Check out our brand new episodes featuring music from the show that everyone is reheating as we speak. Heated rivalry. Join me as I go behind the songs that brought Shane and Elia together. I'll tell you the stories of Fice, My Moon, My Man, Wolf for raids, I'll Believe in Anything, and tattoos all the things she said, and how they all became a part of this global phenomenon. Stream Encore on IHeart Radio, Crave, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:21:55 What's up, fam? I'm sports journalist Ari Chambers. Hey, what's up, y'all? It's your girl, Sam J. And we're the host of everyone watches women's sports, a new podcast from Together and I Heart Women's Sports. Because let's be real. Women's sports is giving us way too much to talk about these days.
Starting point is 00:22:11 So Kelsey Finler, she became the first female solo rower to go from California to Hawaii. My first thought is, like, what's up with the snacks? Like, what are we eating? The highlights, the rivalries, the breakout stars, the moments that take over your end. entire timeline. In the conversations that start during the game and somehow keep going all week.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Every week, we're breaking down the biggest stories across women's sports. Naomi Osaka showing out, she beat. Sabalinka. Shout out to you, Naomi. You get the palm, Naomi. You get the palm for that. Because we're not just interested in what happened. We're interested in why everyone's talking about it.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Because everyone watches women's sports. Listen to everyone watches women's sports. On the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast. Oh my God, that was so frustrating to be a part of. I'm so glad it's over. It's awful. And I thought Brooke brought up a really good point about how it was like the perfect snapshot of what modern dating is and how uncertain everybody is.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Nobody wants to commit to anything at all anymore. I mean, I get it. It's like going to a restaurant like the cheesecake factory and the menu's too big and you can never make up your mind. You're overwhelmed. There's too many flavors out there. So you've just got to come back once every day, get one thing off the menu until you've gone through the whole thing. Or you just stick to the one thing you like. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:23:34 It is funny that these two are kind of like a real couple on Love Island, weighing their options and waffling back and forth, except in the end they voted each other off. So the good news is we don't vote anybody off the Brook and Jeffrey Island. No. Just go to our podcast. Have a drink. Stay a while. Take your pants off. Listen to all of our second dates online wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:23:55 I just thought about that. I bet a lot of people do have their pants off. Yeah, and we support that. Okay. Go find them online at Brooke and Jeffrey. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. When you go out to dinner, it's okay to make certain requests from the restaurant. Okay. Reasonable ones.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Like asking if your salad dressing can be on the side. Okay, yeah. Or asking for a bottle of champagne to be waiting at the table when you arrive. Oh, yeah. You hit him up before. Or even asking to be seated in an area with. more attractive people in your eye line. I haven't tried that.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Nobody wants to see Uggos while you're eating your lobster tail. Is that why they always put me by the bathroom? They're like, oh, really? Pretty sectioned through this door. Wait a minute. But one of our listeners made a different kind of request from his server after they got to dinner. Uh-oh. And a lot of people in this room thought it crossed the line. A lot of the people who would be seated in the Ugo sections.
Starting point is 00:24:52 But the restaurant did grant his request. and you'll hear it. See if you agree in your second date update. Next. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Isn't it annoying when you're on the dating apps and you match with somebody
Starting point is 00:25:08 and you can just talk to them right away? What? Yeah. Isn't that what you want to do? No. It never happened. No, thank you. What would you rather do?
Starting point is 00:25:17 I want to work for it. That's why I'm glad on Bumble. They added multiple steps in hoops you have to jump through first. where if you're a guy and you match with a girl, first the woman sends you a prompt question that the guy has to answer and if she doesn't like your response to that,
Starting point is 00:25:34 she can just ditch you right away without ever speaking a word to you. It's starting to feel like you have to fill out full essay questions like you're back in high school, English class all over again to get a date. We're not there yet, but I hope it gets to that point soon because I love writing essays. Oh, you're going to cue, what's your thesis?
Starting point is 00:25:50 Yeah. But see, if she does like your answer, then she can approve and give the green light to actually message her. Oh, yeah. So if you get that prompt, then you're halfway there. And one of our listeners apparently got it recently. His name is Card with a K. So Card, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:26:10 You got to answer a pre-selected question. That must feel pretty good. Yeah, totally. You did it, buddy. Is it too much details to know what her pre-selected question was about? Yeah. Yeah. What was the question?
Starting point is 00:26:23 So it was, what's the best piece of advice you've ever received? Oh, gosh. That's so serious. I thought for sure she was going to ask for your favorite pizza toppings. That's what I would have done. It is tricky how you answer that because if you're just sincere without being fun, then you're going to look very boring and stiff. Yeah. But at the same time, if you're too fun and too silly, then it seems like you're not taking this seriously.
Starting point is 00:26:48 I'd say don't eat yellow snow. And I would not get a call back. I would take my grandmother's vice. Live and learn, die, and forget it all. See, boring. Okay, boring and a little bit morbid, if anything. I don't want to solve a riddle, brook. So, Card, what did you answer to the prompt?
Starting point is 00:27:03 What's the best advice you ever got? So I really thought about it, and I came up with three options because this girl's really cute, and I didn't want to blow it. Okay. Okay. That's good. What did you do? Give us the other two before you tell us the winner. Oh, we're going deep.
Starting point is 00:27:17 I want to know what the three options are so we can make sure you chose the right one. Are you just writing down life advice for yourself? Is that what you're doing? We might all learn something here. This is for the bros out there. My runner ups were put the cart back. People are watching. Oh, that's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Like a grocery cart. Okay. My next one was always be yourself unless you can be Beyonce. Then be Beyonce. Oh. That's a good one. That's definitely one of those like Etsy things. People put on shirts.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Totally. You didn't like that one? No, like maybe that's too silly. and not answering it, so I wasn't sure. Okay, so what was the winner? Yeah. So the one I went with was never date someone who collapsed when the plane lands.
Starting point is 00:28:01 Yes, absolutely. I mean, she must have liked it, right? Right. She said she was going to update her profile and put it on hers, and she did. Oh, wait a minute, bro. That's extra. That's like personalizing her own thing for you.
Starting point is 00:28:15 It must have felt good. I was flattered, but the best part was, you know, it led to a date, so. Okay. There you go. Okay. You made it over all the hurdles through the obstacles and you got an actual meetup with her. What did you do for your date?
Starting point is 00:28:27 I was going to clap right there. Oh, well, he's not going to want to talk to you if you did that, Brooke. What did you do for your date? Well, because of things beyond my control, I couldn't even until super late. So I booked us at dinner reservation at 9.30. No. 9.30. She initially asked if I could go earlier, but I told her I couldn't.
Starting point is 00:28:47 But I really wanted to buy her dinner and spend time. with her and that one are over. Okay. Oh, okay. How was it? Yeah. It went well. We were there for a long time past midnight.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Oh. Wow. Whoa. So it was a good day. Yeah, that's good. You must have really clicked for two and a half hours at dinner. What time does a restaurant even close? Yeah, that's a long dinner.
Starting point is 00:29:07 That's really long. It was supposed to close at 11, but we asked if we could hang there while they, like, shut stuff down and they let us. Bro, that's actually, like, that's actually a rude thing. It's so bad. I thought I would take that as a couple. compliment if I worked in the restaurant to be like, well, they love us so much. They want to stick around beyond closing.
Starting point is 00:29:25 But that server wants to go eat dinner too. Sure, I'll stay here for you. Oh, goodness. I don't think they were too bothered by it because they still had to clean up and stuff. They're sidework. They're rolling silverware. They're sweeping. You haven't worked in a restaurant.
Starting point is 00:29:38 You better have tipped well. Yeah. Of course I did. Good. Okay. Restaurant aside, like it sounds like it was going great with her. Yeah. So how did the night end?
Starting point is 00:29:47 It was a good night. I walked her to her car because we just. drove separately and it was a quick kiss, not a long one. Okay. All right. That's great. So I'm seeing if I can take her out again. I even joked over text that we could do a normal time.
Starting point is 00:30:03 I'll push it up to 8.30 for you. But she's not responding. She's just not responding. Oh. That's interesting. I mean, it seems like she was so invested. Just all of the hoops you had to jump through to even get the date. It feels like she would have been all in.
Starting point is 00:30:18 Yeah. I would think. But no dice. No dice. Okay. Well, don't sound so dejected on the phone right now, Carr. We haven't even called her and got the answer. There might be a total misunderstanding here.
Starting point is 00:30:29 That's what I'm worried about when you guys call people. It normally doesn't go well. That's because we're always the last resort. You know? And we only air the craziest worst one. So don't worry. If this hits the air, it's actually a bad thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Hopefully, this is so boring. We never even put it on our actual show. That's the goal. We'll see what happens when we call Amy. We're going to come back and try and get you a second date update. Super boring edition right after this. Thank you guys. I like that idea.
Starting point is 00:30:58 Okay. Hold on, man. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. In the story of Cinderella, you know her date with the prince is going well. Because she stays out with him till midnight. Yeah. Noddy, naughty girl.
Starting point is 00:31:16 But in this situation, you know, but in this situation, Our listener card with a K took his date Amy to a late dinner and they stayed past midnight. Despite the restaurant being closed. That's true. Usually if you're up past midnight on a date, you're like dancing or something.
Starting point is 00:31:31 Yeah, yeah, at a bar. But it is a good sign that they were out together for so long. Now, is it possible? Her date accidentally left her glass stiletto behind and ended up bippity-bopitting the waiter? We didn't ask how hot the waiter was. Alecazoo.
Starting point is 00:31:48 a mechicadoo. I didn't know that's what that song was about. I get it. It does change things. We don't know what happened. But no matter what, I am interested to hear how this modern day fairy tale ends. Aw, is there slippers involved? We're going to find out.
Starting point is 00:32:03 I mean, maybe we could just ask Card. Card. Did you have a hot waiter? Not exceptionally. All right. Okay. That's good. That is good.
Starting point is 00:32:13 You weren't intimidated by whoever your wait staff was. Was your Uber a pumpkin? Yeah. That's a good question, valid, Jose. He said that they drove separately. I didn't need an answer, Jeff. I know it's not a problem. Thanks for explaining, though, bro.
Starting point is 00:32:27 We're checking off all the boxes. Okay. Let's just call this lovely lady. What's her name, Amy? Amy. Okay. And hopefully she picks up and we get some answers out of her. You ready to do this?
Starting point is 00:32:38 Ready. I was saying that to myself. I'm ready. Let's do it, Jeff. Here we go. Hello. Hey, is this Amy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Who's this? Hey, this is a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hi, Amy. Hi. Wait, what do you mean? Okay. Yeah, radio still exists. I know it's shocking, but we do a show.
Starting point is 00:33:06 It's called Brooke and Jeffrey. I think I already said that. And this is a segment called Second Date Update. I'm sorry, not trying to be rude, but why are you calling me? Great question. Yeah, it's part of that segment, the second date thing, because we're trying to help out one of our listeners that you went out with recently, a guy named Card.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Oh my God. What? Sorry, Card with the K. Not the C card. Yeah. The K cards with the K. Did I just hear you go, eh? Sorry, that's my honest reaction.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Oh, no. Well, that's okay. Interesting. If you feel that way, that's fine, it's just Card has reached out to our show because he's a little bit confused why after your date, you're not responding to any of his.
Starting point is 00:33:51 his texts or messages. Okay. Oh, you're laughing. Does that mean you think he should know? I mean, fuck it. Yeah, sure. Oh, okay. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Yeah. I'll just tell you a few things that we know about your date is that it started pretty late. You were at a restaurant for like two and a half hours till like way past it even closed. True. He felt like the vibes were pretty good. Wait, there was even a cute little kiss he said at the end. Yeah, a little quick one.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Yeah. Okay. Is that all accurate? Yes. Those are fat. Okay. So where did it go wrong? Yeah, well, maybe just tell us how did you feel about the date? Okay, well, first of all, we get there at 930. I'm hungry. I've been waiting to eat, you know. Yeah. Oh, you didn't have pre-dinner?
Starting point is 00:34:40 I mean, I had some snacks, but I was fully expecting to eat when we got there. Totally. Totally. The waiter kept coming over to take our order, and he kept telling him we weren't ready yet. And I'm like visibly hungry. You're like, I am ready. Now you're hangary. Yes. So we didn't actually even get our food to like 10.30.
Starting point is 00:34:59 What? Oh my God. I wouldn't even be able to see straight if I was just sitting at that table. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No shit. Around 11, we're the last ones in the restaurant. And I'm like, it is time to.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Okay, so I used to work in a restaurant, okay? I have been a server. and it is absolutely mortifyingly embarrassing to me if I'm with somebody who does not respect the fact that these people have their own lives and need to go home. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:29 That'd be a turnout for me. Amy, Amy, we totally sympathize with that. That was not made clear to us from what we heard from Card. He felt like you were okay with staying later and it was almost like the vibe was so good. The date just kept going and going. He said it was good.
Starting point is 00:35:46 How could it be when people are asking you to, leave the restaurant. Oh. Yeah. Because it's such a romantic scene, they're like, oh, I can't look at this beautiful couple any longer. The chef just got a divorce, and he's a mess
Starting point is 00:36:00 now seeing you too. Yeah, seeing the love, no way. It sounds like Card is maybe not very good at reading the room. See, you kept going, I like the ambiance. I like the ambiance. I was like, if you say ambiance, one more fucking time, I swear to in his defense, though, maybe he just liked you and wanted to spend more time with you.
Starting point is 00:36:18 No. There's something weird about it because around like 1155, they finally were like, you have to leave in no uncertain terms. They weren't trying to be nice about it anymore. And this man looks at the server and looks at the bill. And he goes, I'm still looking over the bill. Oh. A financially responsible man. No way.
Starting point is 00:36:42 When I tell you, I wanted to die. So around midnight, we finally left. And it just seemed really weird because, like, we could have gone to another place. Okay. It sounds like you have a lot of questions about why he was doing this and what was going on. The good news is we could just ask him directly because Card is on the other line right now wanting to talk to you. He's very patient if you can't. Still has it left.
Starting point is 00:37:04 He might be there. Card? What the? Are you serious? I'm sorry, but is it a bad thing that I like the audience of a restaurant? You said it again. Did you hear her? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:37:16 You just never said to turn the music off and the lights on. Okay, you know what? I'm sorry. If I known that you were listening this whole time, I probably would have been a little nicer. But you know what? They were closing and you wouldn't leave. And it was weird. And I was very uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I just wanted to stay there and enjoy it with you. I know. Where's the a-as from the room? No. Okay. They brought us the bill before 11. And you kept insisting on waiting more and more. And they were very clear they needed.
Starting point is 00:37:45 And you just kept finding reasons to, I mean, what was going on? Because it was really, I don't know, it was really strange. Okay, okay, Amy, I think you've said your piece. So, Carr, do you have anything that you want to say to Amy in response to that? I know. I was a little low on funds. The cell phone company I work for doesn't pay me until midnight on Friday. I used my debit card for the meal, and it wouldn't have gone through.
Starting point is 00:38:15 if I had a date earlier. Brooke, you feel bad for that? I feel terrible. Now I feel bad, too. He didn't have money and he needed to wait to take her out. I don't feel bad. That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard of my life. You don't feel bad.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Why didn't you just schedule it for a later date? What is wrong? What? Oh, my God. I'm sorry, money bag. I'm sorry. I said I'm sorry money bags. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:44 You didn't have the money in your account. to pay the bill so you're trying to stall until the payment. Oh my God. I know right when our paycheck comes through too. Yeah. I feel you. Okay. But like, okay, we understand that if you're paying like directly out of your account with a debit card.
Starting point is 00:38:59 But like, why don't you do it on a credit card and then pay it later? I don't have a credit card. You don't have a credit card? No. I don't trust myself to carry one. I think that's good. I mean, honestly, that's financially responsible. Honestly.
Starting point is 00:39:14 But they pre-approved. you for credit cards. Just stop asking like a rich guy, okay? That is such a privileged thing. Yeah. I think you're doing right. That's a good financial choice, right, Amy? I mean, that's responsible.
Starting point is 00:39:27 Girl. Come on. Seriously, though. Card, you're not really saying a lot here. Is there any defense you want to make or anything you want to say to Amy? I mean, what else can I say? I told you guys what the deal was. I just tried to stall a little bit.
Starting point is 00:39:44 I mean, at this point, I feel like instead of Cinderella, I got one of the wicked stepsisters. Don't come at her. You know the stepsisters are freaky, though. Oh, yeah, they are. Okay. I feel like, Amy, you should give them another chance. I've always dated low-fund guys. At least he didn't make you pay.
Starting point is 00:40:03 And if Brooke is willing to give a break to a poor man, then you should be willing to do it, too. That's very out of character for her. So what do you think, Amy? One more chance. And look, we'll take all the credit cards off the table. will pay for the date. Yeah. The funds are on us.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Dude, girl, card needs to eat. You need to say yes to this. Amy? All right, listen. Between the lack of consideration for the wage staff, the not just thinking,
Starting point is 00:40:29 they weren't fine with this. And the bad, and the no credit, these red flags just waving me in. No, I thank you very much, guys,
Starting point is 00:40:40 but no, thank you. Oh, I thought she was leading to a yes with that. I thought she was too. Okay. I thought she was going to run past the red flies.
Starting point is 00:40:46 All right, well. That's a right, Karen. That gives you something to work towards, you know, like a little more financial stability. Yeah. I dodged a bullet. I'm glad. Oh, that's the evening you're taking. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

So Kelsey Finler, she became the first female solo roer to go from California to Hawaii. My first thought is like, what's up with the snacks? Like, what are we eating? The highlights, the rivalries, the breakout stars, the moments that take over your entire timeline. And the conversations that start during the game and somehow keep going all week. Starting point is 00:42:38 I know you felt sorry for the guy. I felt terrible for him. But be honest with yourself. There is no way you would go on a date with a guy who is so bad with money he doesn't even trust himself with a credit card. Oh, that part. Absolutely, I would. I had a first date with a boyfriend who we went to a burger joint because he had a free burger coupon.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Okay. I'm not talking about your free and easy early 20s where you would tip the grocery baggers with a nude Polaroid. Yeah. I mean, these are adults looking. Dude, you look so cute in Polaroids. It's just not like you. Oh, I know that. The perfect lighting in those.
Starting point is 00:43:18 But remember, these are adults looking to lock down. a healthy relationship with a stable guy. Dude, a guy who is willing to not get a credit card to avoid going into debt is a stable guy. And I'm serious. Absolutely. I stand by that. I thought Alexis had a good point where this guy withdraw this trouble because he still wanted to pay.
Starting point is 00:43:37 He could have easily said, hey, if you just loan this, I can Venmo you in two hours. He's like, no. Yes, I want to bring us down both into debt and then you can help pay us out of it. Sorry, Jeff. They can co-sop. I forgot what romance looks like now. He says a guy who's never dealt with overdraft fees. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:54 I don't know. We can agree to disagree on this one. You've gotten underdraft fees. I have. Too much money in that account. It is a burden. But you know what? We weren't able to make it work for a card.
Starting point is 00:44:05 No. But it doesn't mean we can't help you out. You can always email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling you back.
