Starting point is 00:00:29 Lisa, tell them about our new show. We have a new podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi Youanu. We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa DiGulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Lacey Mosley, author, actor, stand-up comedian, creator, and host of Scam Goddess Podcasts. The True Crime Comedy Podcasts all about robbery, fraud, and those who practice it. Each week I bring on an amazing guest. Ooh, I scammed them. What? I can talk to you for an hour. You're a generational yapper like me.
Starting point is 00:01:18 That's why I had to make yapping a job. And now you can catch full episodes of my show on YouTube. Start listening to Scam Goddess on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, this is Kylie Breakman. Angel Geratana. Jeremy Colhain. Patrick McDonald. And we're the hosts of the Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists Podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:39 The Improvised Character Comedy Podcast where each week a new panel of artists discuss their craft. Join us for a panel of Eurovision participants. And we do a little Halloween sometimes. Does the Pope dress up? He winks on Halloween. He gets right up next to the microphone. I hear you can almost hear the eyelashes hit each other. You never seen.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Italy's so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween. Listen to Artists on Artists on Artists every Thursday on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Hamza. And I'm Martin. And we're the host of Out of Character. The best podcast in the world. It's really funny in a good time. Really?
Starting point is 00:02:18 Yeah, yeah. I think statistics just came back and we're one of the funniest two guys with mics. And that's pretty hard to beat right now. But it's true, actually. Why should people listen to us? Tell them. Well, we're trendy. We're funny.
Starting point is 00:02:30 You get all your news here. Not, you know, the facts, but maybe our takes on it and everything in between. So listen out of character on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Oh, welcome to it. You've got back-to-back classics for you to get through your weekend. Yes. And if you haven't checked out our YouTube, just this weekend, I think you especially should, because it is my favorite phone tap compilation ever.
Starting point is 00:02:57 So we do these phone taps or prank phone calls. I don't know if you've heard them or not, where we use a fake AI agent, it's not real AI. What? No. Shocker. But we use bots.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Yeah. And they are so funny to me. I don't know why. They're so funny. They're so funny. Well, because it's our producer writing what, like,
Starting point is 00:03:19 he's the one that records what those bots say. Yeah. Yeah. And he's just one of the funniest people I've ever met. He's a strange dude. So we've got a whole compilation, like 45 minutes up of these prank phone calls with a fake bot. up on our YouTube at Brooke and Jeffrey.
Starting point is 00:03:32 So flip on over there and check them out at some point this weekend. But first we got comments before these classics. Yeah, Heather Tucker said, found the show by listening to the pre calls on TikTok and laughed so hard. There we go. Love the show. I'm in South Mississippi and this will be my daily listen. Hey, sweet. That's so awesome.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Welcome to the show. We're so glad you're here. All right. Let's get to it. Starts right now. Certain things you cannot forget when you're going out on a date. Okay. Your wallet, a teeth check.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Oh, yeah. Totally. And that little sheet of paper where your mom wrote instructions on how to satisfy your partner. Ew. Don't forget that. It's going to come in handy. Trust me. Really important, dude.
Starting point is 00:04:13 What your mom teach you about, like, what silverware to use? That's in there. Trust me. Oh, God. She covers it all. But five minutes into one of our listeners' first dates, he realized he forgot maybe the most important thing of all. Uh-oh. And it sent him into full-on pants.
Starting point is 00:04:30 mode. You're going to hear the extremely important thing he can't believe he forgot in your brand new second date update. Next. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Some people might say it's presumptuous on a first date to bring a girl straight to a hotel. But Brooke would say the Lakinta. Oh my. I didn't know you were going to say a nice hotel. We don't even need a room. I'll just lay on the breakfast bar. You feed me raised. reason brand till I say stop. I'll show you how to use that waffle maker. Wait, this is an 8 a.m. date?
Starting point is 00:05:06 That's how Brooke likes it. But I only bring it up because according to our listener, Jack, in his email, he says he had his first date at a local hotel. And that's all I know. So Jack, you dog. Please, cry a nice restaurant at a local hotel. Cress my fingers for a bar. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Hey, man. Welcome to the show, dude. Thank you for me on. And you know what? that sounds really great, but it wasn't that. Were you talking about the breakfast bar sounds really great? Hook up with the waffle machine? No, I'm talking about taking the lady to a hotel on the first date.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Oh, it didn't happen. Oh, did that not happen? I thought that's what it said in the email. Jeff, what did you mess up again? Sorry, reading's hard. Okay, I apologize. So maybe you should just start at the beginning. Tell us about this lady that you met.
Starting point is 00:05:51 All right. Well, we did go to a hotel, but it was the coffee bar. So Jeff read the word hotel and was like, It was a hotel day. What else do you do in a hotel? You can get coffee. Why is it a coffee bar okay, but the La Quinta breakfast bar isn't? I mean, literally, what is the difference?
Starting point is 00:06:10 It's kind of a blurb line. It's just a fancier name. I just figured if I put hotel in the email, it's like, oh, this is getting somebody's attention. Okay. It works. It works. It sure it is. What's her name?
Starting point is 00:06:21 It's easy to get them. Yeah. Her name is Delilah. Okay. And how did you meet her? We met on a dating ad. Did you take everything in your power not to sing that plain white cheese song to her? Oh, God. I mean, she's from all the white.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Yes. Yeah. And you would think, like, that alone would make me remember. But I don't know if it's because, you know, dating ass and you're looking at a lot of different people, a lot of different names. But we were sitting there, and I think within five minutes, I can't remember her name. No. Oh, no. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:52 What did you do? Oh, dang. You're like, hey, there, pretty lady. Oh, yeah. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no. Hopefully not. Luckily, she kind of saved me from it because she started telling a story about her and a friend.
Starting point is 00:07:06 And she was like, oh, and my friend was like, Delilah, what are you doing? And I'm like, oh, that's it. Oh, Delilah. Yes. Oh, my gosh, you listened to her? That's a good thing. That's a big way. About the first time around, it sounds like. Okay. Exactly. You're right. Now you're listening. So now that you're 15 minutes into the date and you finally refigured out her name, where does it go from there? I mean, to back up a little bit, she's very pretty.
Starting point is 00:07:26 And I was really attracted, and this may have been like the whole, I forgot her name thing, but she had this like brown, reddish hair, picture like Emma Stone, but prettier. Oh, wow. That's actually a good visual. Shots fired at Emma Stone. I know what? She's really pretty. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Emison is a big listener to this show, so you should know that you probably defended her. That's okay. I mean, that's awesome. You were blown away at how gorgeous this woman was, Delilah? Yeah. And it was aside from like, I can't remember your name. There were a couple other weird things you kind of take us a good side. Like we were wearing the same colors.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Oh. That's like the universe. Did she notice that or did you point it out? She actually was the one who pointed that out. Are we talking like black and brown? Oh my God, we're both in black shirts. It's just subtle. Oh, wearing all green polka dots together.
Starting point is 00:08:14 This must mean something. Super specific. Wow. I mean, aside from the color of her hair and the color of your clothes, were there any other high? You know who's not colorblind, guys. That's very good. What other highlights did you and Delilah have?
Starting point is 00:08:25 with each other. I thought it was a good date. You know, we had a good conversation. It kind of veered off in a weird direction at one point. I don't know how we got there, but like we started talking about childhood dentist trauma. Oh. That's a good one. Everyone has a story about that, right?
Starting point is 00:08:42 It's a really hot thing to talk about on a first date for sure. Did it make you laugh? I mean, yeah, kind of. I had a story about, you know, wisdom teeth, getting pulled and lots of blood and actually vomiting or whatever. But she was laughing at it. Okay. I like that she finds a humor.
Starting point is 00:09:00 You like a little dry socket. At least you keep up with your teeth. That's what I'm taking as a point. I mean, maybe we should just jump right to how did it end? I thought it ended well, you know. I mean, it's a daytime day. So it wasn't like we were kissed. We hugged.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Okay. I'm trying to think of, you know, I used the coupon to pay for the coffee, but I don't think she even saw that. So it's not like she's going to go, oh, gosh, cheap or something. Some people have an issue with coupons for. some reason, because I think that just means you were a smart spender. I need to know, was it like on your phone coupon or you had like a paper cutout? Why does it matter?
Starting point is 00:09:31 Same. Oh, if the magazine clip out, that's kind of old. Who cares where the coupon came from, okay? But the reason that you do it, Brooke, is so that you can tip less on the final bill. That's not true. That's a bad look also. That just means you found a man that could be financially stable. I don't even think she saw it.
Starting point is 00:09:47 I mean, it was on my phone. I don't even think she saw it, but if she did, then yeah. Was on the phone. That's better. Okay, yeah. You're fine. Okay. How long has it been since your hotel coffee date?
Starting point is 00:09:59 It has been just over a week, and I'm getting absolutely nothing back. Okay, you hesitated there, and I thought you might be saying seven years. So this is better than what I was expecting. That means we still have a chance when we come back and we call Delilah for you. Hopefully she has some memory of who you are and some memory of why she's not calling you back. If she forgets his name, it'll just make him feel better. So that's also a positive. I would prefer you didn't bring that part up.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Okay. But yeah, whatever you got to do. Okay. We'll make it happen for you with your second date update right after this. Hold on. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. If you're just joining us, we've been chopping it up with our listener, Jack, about his first date with a lovely woman with reddish-brown hair named Delilah.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Say Auburn. Say Auburn hair. That's not how he described. That is what reddish-brown is. That's how you described it. It was brown-red. But you've heard of the app Coffee Meets Bagel. Well, Jack said no to that bagel.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Just grabbed coffee with her at a hotel bar. It was a great transition. You know, you thought when he wrote that down in his head, he's like, I'm going to say this. I'm hearing the people laughing in their cars right now. And they discussed hobbies and childhoods, traumatic dental experiences, all the usual first date topics. But now, just like the ring, it's been seven days. So it's time to go get. our girl.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Scary. You guys haven't seen the ring? No. You know what you see the video and then you have seven days to like four days or you die? Oh. I don't watch those movies. They're too frightening. It was really scary.
Starting point is 00:11:35 It's seven days and then the entity comes to get you and that's what we are. We are the entity coming to her phone. We're the horror phone? To ask her what's up. Okay. It's okay, Brooke. I know you don't appreciate amazing transitions like that, but that's what we're going to do in radio. I just spent this whole time doing this writing your...
Starting point is 00:11:50 Jeff was like, I'm coming in with a coffee bagel joke and then I'm following up with the ring. This is going to be I don't even have to go after you. These two got me. When we win our Marconi Award after this, you're going to see who's laughing, but that's fine. No one knows what a Marconi is unless you're been in radio for 20 years. I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Yeah, it's a radio grammy. I didn't know until I won one. Jack, you feel me? You felt like that was a good recap, right? Yeah, no, I thought you guys got to fight. You can say no. Damn it, Jack. No, because he thinks if he says no, Jack.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Oh, my God. We all know the answer. I only hesitated because I, I was listening to you guys talk about my, what the hell's a Marconi? Yeah, right? It's fine. It's the highest prize you can win in radio. I think it's fake. It's our Grammys.
Starting point is 00:12:33 It's not included in the EGOT for a reason. Yeah, fine. The reckoning is coming. Let's just call this one. Yes. Hey, is this Delilah? This is she. Hey, Delilah.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Happy to, what? No, you're in for a treat. After all the jokes you've been making. You're hearing a lot of voices right now because you're on the radio right now. On a show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Okay. Hey, yeah. Hi. Hey, welcome to the show.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Thanks. That's appropriate response. I know you're probably wondering what's going on. And I can tell you this is a segment we do. You may have heard of it before. It's called a second date update. Okay. It's where if we have a listener who wants some help getting in touch with someone they went on a date with recently,
Starting point is 00:13:28 we can call them on their behalf and try to figure out if there's a reason why they aren't getting together again. Oh. Kind of cute, huh? Um, yeah, I guess. Yeah, and the reason that we're calling you is because you met up with a guy named Jack recently. Yeah, the coffee date. Yeah, coffee jack. Right. It was a decent date, but, I mean, overall, I mean, unfortunately, I kind of found it a little boring, you know?
Starting point is 00:13:57 Oh, no, that's the word. Which part was boring? Yeah. There was just like Not a lot of initiatives Taken on like starting different conversations Okay so you felt like you had to lead all the conversation Is that what you mean?
Starting point is 00:14:14 Yeah like a little bit I honestly think that we got started talking about the dentist After I said I had sensitive teeth When I drank my coffee when it was too hot And then that's how we ended up there Okay And when he was describing how he was puking in the dentist chair That didn't give you romantic butterflies
Starting point is 00:14:31 It's not necessarily the exciting first date conversation you get to know you. Okay. But to be fair, like what is? Like, what were you hoping for? Like, you guys are just supposed to meet up and get to know each other, right? Like a first time? I don't have like a first date script that I expect to be, like, gone over. I mean, I can kind of understand what she's saying when you have a conversation with someone
Starting point is 00:14:52 and it feels like it's more work than what you get out of it. I mean, Brooke, I agree with you on that and I see what you mean. but we do a lot of these phone calls, and I would caution people because a lot of times when someone says they're looking for that romantic spark, that's just not how real dates actually are. I'm not saying she should give up on it. I'm just saying that I understand having those conversations and leaving and being like, oof, that was exhausting. Yeah, that was. I didn't hear her saying, like, God, that was exhausting. She was just like, I was kind of bored.
Starting point is 00:15:24 I didn't feel the spark. You know, when people are like, oh, it felt like we already knew each other, like the chemistry, there. This is like the opposite of that. But you're describing Brooke and her cousins at their family meetings and that's a different situation. Asked Delilah. That's my second or third date feeling. Not first date. So Delilah, you're saying it was so
Starting point is 00:15:40 boring. It didn't even warrant more exploration into if there was actually something there. You're not interesting. Like he is a good dad, but to be perfectly honest, like, I'm getting messages from guys pretty frequently and like I'm going on quite a few coffee dates. And so like if
Starting point is 00:15:57 it's not interesting or I don't feel like a spark or like want to pursue it, I just don't know that it's worth my time, you know? Yeah. Okay. It's like, you know, he got his audition. Sure. But who's to say that he wasn't also equally bored and wanting more from you during the conversation?
Starting point is 00:16:14 He had a great time. Well, that's what he said because that's the polite thing to do when you meet somebody. And I'm not just going to say that in his place. I'll let him tell you because Jack is on the other line listening to this call wanting to jump in. Yeah. Oh, Jack, I'm sorry. I would not have said it like that had I known that you were, I'm sorry. Aw.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Yeah, Brooke. He's just doing the polite thing, right, Jeff? Well, listen, I'm just going to say, in my defense, I mean, it was a coffee date in the middle of the day. I don't know what you expect. That could be something. I don't know, maybe we connect over a mutual hobby or like a movie that we liked, and none of that happened. Oh, man. I mean, I was just holding back because, again, I thought we were just trying to go slow,
Starting point is 00:17:02 try and get to know each other. I mean, he got to wait to like the second day before you get, you know. Before you get to hobbies? Yeah. I'm not boring. I mean, I ate a whole rotisserie chicken on a Zoom call last week. At a boy. Now we're talking.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Wow. Wait, what? Were you making like a, what do they call, like a mokbong video where you eat in front of the camera? Oh, the muckbang? No, he's just an interesting guy who. who does crazy, interesting things all the time. Yeah. And you would...
Starting point is 00:17:32 You never know when he'll bust out of time. Yeah, you would know that about him if you gave him a chance. I want more examples. You want to know what else he ate on Zoom calls? I just didn't feel that connection spark. Yeah. Are you sure, Delilah? Because back then maybe you didn't feel it.
Starting point is 00:17:45 But after hearing about that chicken stuff, you might be getting a little hot and heavy right now. Maybe that's a bad example. Okay. My neighbor's cat follows me everywhere like I'm some kind of a cult leader. Oh. Oh, cats are in, good judge of character. Col leader, why do we go to that analogy? Well, I'm just saying because I don't want her to think like I'm just some plain old boring guy.
Starting point is 00:18:07 I see, I see. I mean, I will say sometimes people just don't make the best first impressions. And maybe that's you. And that's okay. That's literally what it is, I think. It's better that he didn't talk your ear off and talk at you instead of just being a little boring on a first date. That's true. I do like being able to have an equal conversation instead.
Starting point is 00:18:27 of just being talked at. Okay. Now's a good opportunity, Jack. Give her a chance to talk. I will say, Jack, getting in touch with me through the radio is certainly interesting. Hey, look at us. We're finally a positive. You have millions of people listening to you right now.
Starting point is 00:18:42 I think the tides are turning, Jeff. Yes, but she did mention that she has a ton of messages from other dudes. Why would you bring that up right now? A single girl doesn't. Well, she brought it up. I know, but we don't have to go back there. You're right, Brooke. I'm hoping that we don't.
Starting point is 00:18:56 and that she just agrees to another date right now with Jack. Ooh, that's exciting. A coffee and possibly a bagel date that we would pay for. No, I thought about dinner. Like, we'll go out at night. Yes. There you go. What about a movie night?
Starting point is 00:19:11 The ring. Sure. Oh, my God. That movie is terrifying. I don't want to watch The Ring. Well, this is sounding a lot better. So what do you think about giving him one more chance, Delilah? Again, we would pay for it if you say yes.
Starting point is 00:19:24 I mean, I do have a couple of other dates. lined up just to be perfectly honest, but if he's willing to, you know, be that fourth date, I would totally go on a second date with you. Okay. She's volleied it back over the net to you, Jack. Well, I'm just saying I might have some dates myself. Okay, don't do that. All right.
Starting point is 00:19:44 He's volleying it back over. No, no, no, I agree. I agree. All right, you're excited. I'm excited. I just wanted to kind of, I'm not a boring guy. So yeah, maybe I got dates. But I agree.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Well, Jack, if you're really not boring, maybe you go on the other dates with Delilah. And you can meet and even one up some of the other men. Oh. Jeff, what are you on today? I know, man. Seven days. I don't think anybody likes that idea. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Yes, just to meet one more date. We'll take it. We're going to go get Jeff a nap. Brooke's going to leave us with a really quippy thing on the very end of it. Go, Brooke. No, I think that we just end the call. Oh, congratulations. Congratulations, we can't wait to hear back from you.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Let us know how it goes. Oh, well, that was boring. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Today's episode is brought to you by Vinted. And it's no secret. Everything is expensive right now. And if you're like me and looking for an easy way to earn a little extra money, open your closet and take a look.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Because have you ever realized how much money is just sitting in there? Okay, I'm not talking like cash, but you guys in clothes. And that's where Vinted comes in. Vinted is a secondhand marketplace app that makes it easy to sell pre-loved fashion and earn some extra money. And right now is the perfect time to go through your closet because fall is here. As soon as I started putting away my summer clothes and pulling out sweaters, I realized how many things I didn't wear over the last few months that were just sitting in there. So I could put those things on Vinted and make some money from them. Once you sell your items,
Starting point is 00:21:12 you can decide what to do with that money. You can cash it out to your bank account directly or use it on Vinted to buy some new items for fall or whatever occasion you need. Vinted is a free app and simple to use. You just upload photos of your clothes and once they sell, VintedD even creates the prepaid shipping label for you. So go see what's hiding in your closet, and you might be surprised with how much you can earn. Download Vinted for free and start listing with no seller fees. Okay, I have a trick for knowing whether a chocolate chip cookie is going to be incredible. It is based solely on whether or not there's a touch of salt on the top.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Oh, the salty and sweet. You just can't go wrong. It is the best flavor combo out there. Okay, well, maybe the best flavor combo is salty, sweet, and nutritious, because I've got you covered with that with Kachava's new salted caramel. I mean, honestly, it satisfies your salty sweet cravings while totally supporting whole body nutrition. It's just one delicious simple shake. You do two scoops and let me tell you, they're covering protein, fiber, greens, and so much more.
Starting point is 00:22:07 I'm going to let you know that your energy, your digestion, your strength, your metabolism, your cognition, and your immunity is all going to thank you thanks to Kachava. There's no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, no GMOs, no soy, no animal products, no gluten, no preservatives. It's just good. So embrace your salty side. Go to Kachava.com and use the code BJ for 15% off your first order. That's Kachava, K-A-C-H-A-V-A-D-com, code BJ. You know, it's nice to hear the boring guy get a win every once in a while.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Yeah. I like that. I think what's funny is like when we were talking to him, I didn't find him boring. No, yeah. He seemed like normal. But maybe we talked more than he did. Yeah. And that was a problem.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Maybe. We definitely. Yeah. We're the interesting ones. It's good that he realized that and kept his mouth shut. Yeah. But the bad news is we're not going to be on the date with him so we can't help him out again. Because the thing that really seemed to change her mind was the fact that he called us and put her on the radio.
Starting point is 00:23:08 I feel like this is one of those things where you should go with just a couple of pre-planned questions for any date. Like any dinner party, you know, come with some interesting conversation. Yeah, like what's your body count? No. No. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:23:21 No. No. No. No. No. High School. No, what's a better one? Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:24 What's a better one? Like the most embarrassing thing that happened to you in middle school. No? That sounds like all of the other stories that he was telling about puking at the dentist. I don't know. I don't have the list in front of me. If he needs help, we can do that. Don't let us make the list and let us know.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Match your own personality. Forward us that list so that we don't have to think of it. But remember, if you want help with your dating life, we can be there for you to call that person who isn't calling you back. And remember, all of our second dates are online on YouTube, where you can also watch Brooke eat an entire rotissory chicken in under 20 minutes. I can't believe I haven't done that yet. It's the bones, too. The way that jaw on hinges, it's wild.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Go check it out at Brooke and Jeffrey. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. There's an elite group of people in the world of dating who have never, ever been rejected. Oh, yeah. They're charming, they're funny, they're good-looking. they're named Jeffrey. Sorry, I don't make the rules. Take it up with Jeffrey Goldblum if you have a problem.
Starting point is 00:24:30 But we have a listener on the phone with us who's completely baffled after he didn't get a call back. And if this doesn't work out, it's going to literally be the first time he's ever been rejected. Wow. Can we get him to keep his perfect dating record alive? We're at least going to try in your second date update. Next. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update.
Starting point is 00:24:55 I'm calling it right now. We're going to put one up in the L column today. A, okay. L for love. Oh, I was like excited and then I realized it wasn't a W. No, L for love. I don't know anything about the listener who emailed us. The date he went on or the person they want us to call,
Starting point is 00:25:15 but I just have this feeling deep down that by the end of this segment, it's going to be love one. crippling loneliness zero. That's right. Love needs a win. Jeff, let's go. Because our listener, Danny, definitely needs some love. And Danny, welcome to the show.
Starting point is 00:25:29 You ready for a big L today? Yeah, I'm ready for a big W. Okay. No, L. We need to give you some L. I like Danny. Thank you. I appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Okay. I don't know if you even hear you. He knows. We're just kidding. I will say Jeff came pretty aggressive with that L. Oh, I'm sorry that I'm confident about this call. But he's trying to change the L into love. This is all not messed up.
Starting point is 00:25:50 up for you, Jeff. I'm sorry. It did. Let's get back on track here, Danny. So let's start at the beginning. Tell us about the person you want us to call today. Yeah, guys. I met this nice young lady by the name of Jessica. I was at Whole Foods. I usually meet most of my, you know, higher class women at Whole Foods. Well, look at that. Oh. Well. So wait, when you said Jessica was a nice lady, you mean like looks-wise nice or she was actually a nice person when you talk to her? All the whole shebang. Oh, okay. So all the quality ladies. Ladies are at Whole Paycheck, huh? Whole paycheck. Do you not call it that?
Starting point is 00:26:25 No, I've heard that. That's really funny. I thought everybody called it that. Because you spend your whole paycheck when you go. I totally get it. All the one percenters at least. Yeah, I don't even shop there really. A splurge once a month on a box there.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Yeah. All right. So tell us how you met. Like, how did this interaction in the whole foods go down with Jessica? Yeah, so I was walking through and I normally, as I mentioned, meet a lot of nice women. I'm not scared to talk to strangers. So I saw her. And I complimented on her style and her hair.
Starting point is 00:26:53 It's kept it simple. Oh, that's nice. What do you say? That's some nice hair you got. Don't do that. How do you compliment it? Can I have a piece of it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:01 That mop you got up there. Okay. Yeah. And after I complimented her, I asked her for IG because that's the thing these days. Yeah. And that feels safe. Like, that feels like you are in tune with people's boundaries. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:14 All right. So what did she say? She said no. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:18 Did you actually go on a date with her? Well, I was surprised. She actually ended up giving me her number. Oh. Oh, you can't have my Instagram, but you can have my phone number because I never actually answer that. That's interesting. Or it gives her the option to block you quicker.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Or to give a fake number. Exactly. Power move by her, but I'm assuming that wasn't the case. You know, it's old school and I like old school. So I ended up giving her a call. Oh, you actually called? You didn't even text? Yeah, so I invited her to a nice, fancy, high-end barb.
Starting point is 00:27:52 And I figured she was enjoying herself because we were talking for a couple hours. That's a great sign. Like, what were you guys connecting over? We talked about everything. I remember us talking about travel and where we both wanted to go. We've never been to Iceland, so we talked about going to Iceland. Oh, in the pools or whatever they're called, what do they call, Brooks? Hot Spring.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Okay. So you guys are sharing. Things are going good. What type of vibe are you getting from her? I'm, you know, getting a good vibe. I'm picking up the receptive kind of vibe from her. She did at one point start to talk about a trip to Mexico where she got balked off of the horse she was riding and I laughed.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Oh. You laughed? Yeah, she got offended. Oh, no. She's telling a serious story about a horse injury. Well, maybe she was like, yeah, I broke my back. I thought that would be a funny story too. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:45 That's what I thought to. I must have. read her wrong. You know, I apologize and I said I thought you were joking and we were able to get past it. Okay. So that's the one moment that stood out to you as like kind of being off. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:58 There was one thing that I said about a weird hobby that maybe might have rubbed her the wrong way. I collect vintage maps. Oh, that's kind of cool. How would a vintage map rub her the wrong way? She hates when countries aren't currently labeled what they're actually called. Oh, yeah. Not in the label, Iceland yet.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Czechoslovakia, that doesn't exist anymore. Maybe it sounded more like an old person hobby to her. I don't know. Oh, okay. Rubbed her the wrong way as and turned her off is what you're saying. Yeah, it turned her off. People say that about stamp collecting and I still think it's cool. You know?
Starting point is 00:29:32 Point proven there. I mean, it's not far off from old maps. You're not kidding. So how long has it been since that date? Yeah, it's been two weeks since our date and I haven't been in contact with her at all. I'm not sure what transpired because I'm not a guy that normally just goes on one date and not another. You know what I mean? You usually get another date.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Yeah, yeah. Well, you sound, I mean, it sounds like you listen and you take interest in the person. Like, that alone will usually get you another night. And you guys can't even see me. I consider myself a pretty good-looking dude. Okay. So we got a catch here. I'm going to hear it through the phone, though.
Starting point is 00:30:10 A little bit of attractive qualities going on up there. The good news is you had some setback. but you got back on that metaphorical horse when it bucked you off. Don't use that. What, okay. We'll save the horse metaphors and put them in. Oh, you got it now. In the stable.
Starting point is 00:30:27 We'll put it back in the stable before we call Jessica for you and try to get you your second date update right after this, okay? Thank you, guys for your help. All right, hold on. Broken Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. We've been talking to Danny and learned Danny likes himself a classy gal. Okay, Danny.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Because he met Jessica in a Whole Foods. Hello, Bougie. Took her to an upstale cocktail bar. Okay, Swanky. And talked about traveling the world with her. Hello, luxury. Oh, wait. And he did suffer a small setback
Starting point is 00:31:01 after she shared a personal story about getting thrown off a horse in Mexico, and Danny laughed at that. I thought it would have been appropriate laughter time, too. Yeah. We all did. Anytime Brooke shares a personal story, we all burst into laughter.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Yeah. I mean, people. People's misery is funny. Right? Yeah, Brooke story, it's like, I bucked a horse off of my back. It was hilarious. Aside from that, he felt very confident that he would be seeing her again, which brings us to this moment two weeks later where he's hearing nothing. So, Danny, before we call her, how are you feeling about this?
Starting point is 00:31:34 I'm still in shock because I'm never one and done. Yeah. I'm always getting a return favors after the first date. Weirdly worded. But I like it. If she says no, will it be the first time you've been rejected? Very first. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Ever? Welcome to the club. I had a friend who was a model and I was there for the first time he was ever rejected. Was it hard for him? It really was. I know you're joking. But truly, you could see in his eyes. He's like, how is this even a possibility?
Starting point is 00:32:07 Yeah. So I hope that doesn't happen to you today, bro. But if it does and you want to hug afterwards or exchange favors, whatever you like to do after you like we're there for you, okay? I don't know. He's the one that brought up favors first. Yeah, I'm trying to speak his language. So bottom line, we're there for you, Danny.
Starting point is 00:32:23 And we appreciate you. We're going to show you after the call, but let's call Jessica first. Here we go. That's all fair. Hey, is this Jessica? Yes, he's calling. Hey, Jessica, we are a radio show calling you.
Starting point is 00:32:47 We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Yeah, sorry if you're busy right now. Um, why is there a radio station calling me? We're bored. Part of that, but mostly because we do this segment on the show that's called the second date update, where we help out our listeners who've gone out with someone and they're not getting a call back for a second meetup. What? Don't you want to know who wrote us about you?
Starting point is 00:33:13 Yeah. A guy named Danny. Ugh. What? I heard the G. I know. Why that reaction? Well, we just don't connect, so I don't know. This is weird to me.
Starting point is 00:33:28 Really? That is so strange. It sounds like he was a really nice guy who was really interested in you. Easy to talk to? Because we spoke to him before calling you. And he told us about the date from his description. It seemed to have a lot of really nice moments between you two where you vibed, got to know each other. No, I feel like he is a kind of person that would have a challenge to find any match with any woman. This is weird. Okay, okay. Oh, you're a chameleon. You have to explain why he was so off-putting because I don't know if he just like pulled one over on us, but he sounded fine. Nice.
Starting point is 00:34:10 It sounded kind of like swaff almost. Yeah, the absolute opposite. I don't know. What? He's crazy. I mean, I mean, I. Okay, can you, like, walk us through the date in your eyes? We need something specific that gave you that impression.
Starting point is 00:34:25 I mean, I thought things were going okay, but once I started to dig deeper, I found out some things that just kind of turned me off. Wait, like things in your conversation that he revealed or? Yeah, like what? Yeah. Well, we were talking about hobbies, and then he said he was into boxing, and I was like, oh, that's really cool. Yeah. You spar at the gym, and he was like, no, I spar in parking lot. Oh, parking lot.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Oh, so is like street boxing? Maybe like fight club style. Is that what he means? Did you ask more? Yeah, I did. I was like with random people, and he said no over Facebook arguments. What? Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:35:09 He gets in fights with people on Facebook and then meets him in parking lots? Red flags everywhere. I guess so. I mean, I got out of there as soon as I could because it was. was starting to freak me out. Yeah. I guess he was very proud of this hobby that he had. And I was just like, I really hate violence.
Starting point is 00:35:26 And also like, what do you expect me to go out with somebody who hits people? Right. And he uses Facebook that actively. Yeah, exactly. I mean, that's so messed up. And, like, boxing's a sport. This isn't a sport. I picture him meeting, like, 50-plus-year-old people in parking lots and throwing hands.
Starting point is 00:35:44 But maybe that's just our understanding of it. maybe he has a totally different thing that he does and we're just interpreting it the wrong way. How could you interpret that the wrong way? Well, let's ask him because I need to tell you, Jessica, he's on the other line right now listening to this conversation, wanting to talk to you. He's not on the phone. Yeah, see, there he is. I didn't know you felt that way. You should have said something, you know?
Starting point is 00:36:07 What? That's kind of threatening. Like you get so upset at Facebook comments that you have to beat people up over them? Well, hold on. That's how we're interpreting. do you actually do explain it, Danny? Jessica, you're getting this all wrong. I'm actually doing the neighborhood a favor by dealing with these Facebook trolls one at a time
Starting point is 00:36:28 in person in their driveway. What? You go to their home? Oh, it's a driveway. Wait, what defines a Facebook troll? People that come on there and talk a bunch of crap. Aren't they usually like either teenagers or really, really old people? Or they get paid for engagement.
Starting point is 00:36:44 I troll all day long. I make a lot of money out there. Be careful. Danny might try to engage you in a parking lot sometimes. Hey, man, if it's mutual, that's one thing. Listen, I don't go looking for them. I engage them online. If they want to meet up, man and man, square up. I usually offer a place like a Costco parking lot, and then we meet up.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Okay, neutral ground. But also like, Jessica, Facebook trolls do kind of suck. I mean. Now that you've heard his side of the story, does it make you feel a little bit better about it? No. Okay. Which part of it don't you like? I mean, I couldn't picture my boyfriend saying,
Starting point is 00:37:20 hey, I got to leave early tonight. I have to go beat someone up at the Home Depot parking lot. Listen, Jessica, what I'm doing is a lot cheaper than therapy. That's true. Probably less effective, but yeah. Well, therapy for you or is it therapy for the trolls? Yeah, maybe both. Definitely for me, I'm so much more zen-like after I knock someone out.
Starting point is 00:37:43 They're kind of at peace, too. for a few seconds until they regain consciousness. I had a really good friend that struggled with depression and he got into jiu-jitsu. Is that kind of the same thing? Kids with anger management are supposed to go into boxing too. Absolutely. It's a form of physical therapy.
Starting point is 00:37:58 You guys are acting like this is a chaotic brawl. This is a gentleman sport. We stick hands after. Sometimes we might crack a beer if I have one in it. Yeah, that's how it should be. How many Facebook trolls have you fought? That's a good question, actually. I have lost count at this.
Starting point is 00:38:15 point. Oh, God. Or he's got brain damage. You can only count to 10 right now. I got some names from my page I could send him. I mean, I'll take him on if they meet me. I'll do it. Hey.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Sounds like a full-time job, not a hobby. Text in, 7-8-5-9-2. You want to find our friend? I'm just kidding. So if I'm reading the room right here, it sounds like Jessica is still feeling a little bit cold on this idea of Facebook parking lot brawls. So, Janie, is there any last things that you want to say to her before we ask the question? I just want to let her know that I met with her ex-boyfriend last week at home
Starting point is 00:38:52 deep. Wait, excuse me? That's a joke. It's a joke, but I would do it. Oh, okay. Okay. He's got a sense of humor. In all seriousness, I'm a good dude. You want to hang out with me. You just don't know yet. Oh. And I'll protect you. Oh. That's for sure. Okay. I did not like that little sentence. That being said, we would like to offer to send you on another date with Danny. And we would pay for it, But it's up to you. I'm sure he'll have no jealousy issues once you guys start dating. No, I'm not interested. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Oh, man, we thought we had her, right? Yeah. It was so close. Felt it almost ready to say yes, but not this time. We got a solution, though, for the broken Jeffrey Facebook trolls, so that's cool. Oh, yeah. Are you available for hire, Danny? Yes, I am.
Starting point is 00:39:37 And Jessica, just so you know, I'm not sorry that I laughed at you've fallen off of the horse. Whoa. That's unnecessary? Dang. But he will beat up that horse in a Walmart parking lot to get even for you. Not the horse. So stupid.

On the surface, fighting randos off of Facebook seems barbaric. But they're agreeing to meet up with him. Yeah, that's my. point. He's not surprising them with a fight.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Hunting him down. And according to Danny, they even shake hands and sometimes grab beers together afterwards. As a fight should end. I'm really like wavering on this one. Back and forth. I don't know. It's like to describe it as a hobby is kind of the strange point. Well, yeah, sure. But maybe this
Starting point is 00:42:30 face-to-face stuff and not hiding behind computers and saying terrible things to each other all day long, maybe that's actually a healthy thing for the entire world. Usually once it gets to that point what I notice on Facebook, people just block people. It's like, Go, where do you live? I'm going to, it's like, man, get out of here.
Starting point is 00:42:44 So the fact the other guy's like, sure, show up. Okay, show up. All right. Or just get off Facebook. But then we're not resolving our issues, Alexis. Like, if it was me, I would personally do it a little different. I'd meet him outside of Barnes & Noble, and we'd do a thumb wrestle. I like that, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:43:00 You know, but I'm even older than the Facebook. What about a tickle fight? I'm open for that, too. But I do understand what he's doing, what he's trying to accomplish. I'm a little bit disappointed that Jessica wasn't able to look deeper than you. just his fist flying through a Costco rumble. But remember, you can always find all of our second dates wherever you get
