Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, it's Danielle Fischel. Writers Strong. And Wilfredel from Podmeet's World. We are back in Las Vegas and giving the people what they want. A full week of Y2K content. Tell me why. Well, for the Backstreet Boys residency at Sphere, of course. We joke and say this is our second marriage.
Starting point is 00:00:19 But it takes a lot of communication. Plus, it's carrot top, baby. And finally, Ashley Simpson Ross joins us to talk about her upcoming sold-out Vegas residence. Listen to PodMeets World on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush. Parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, everything changed.
Starting point is 00:00:50 There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged. Terrorism. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, and I'm the host of the on-purpose podcast, and today I'm joined by one of the greatest athletes of all time, Novak Djokovic.
Starting point is 00:01:20 He's won 14 grand slams in a glittering career. Novak Djokovic. When you reach your 30, you start counting your days to your retirement. I'm 38 this year. How long can I push my own limits? Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Yumanzoor. And I'm Drew Phillips.
Starting point is 00:01:45 And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you. Open your free IHeartRadio app.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. So what happened to Chappaquittic? Well, it really depends on who you talk to. There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond. And left a woman behind to drown. Chappaquitic is a story of a tragic death and how the Kennedy machine took control.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Every week, we go behind the headlines and beyond the drama of America's royal family. Listen to United States of Kennedys on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, happy Labor Day weekend. It's working Jeffrey in the morning
Starting point is 00:02:47 like we do every Saturday. We got a double dose for you on this second date podcast. Two classics back-to-back that we hope you enjoy. Yeah. You know, put on while you're driving or stuck in traffic,
Starting point is 00:02:57 doing some housework. Just in bed, not moving. That's a game I like to play. Is that how you like to spend your three weekends? Yeah, sometimes it's like, how little can I move? Oh, I got to scratch my butt. I hate this part. All right, what do you see in the comments, Alexis?
Starting point is 00:03:11 Yeah, Benji Wolves said, I hate this show. I will never listen again until tomorrow. Hey, oh, my, Benji. That's the attitude we like, Ben. You love your standards. That's right. All right, let's get this hated double classic second date started for you right now. we're so jaded that when we hear one of our listeners say they had an extremely intense moment on a date
Starting point is 00:03:33 we immediately think oh god it's got to be bad yeah yeah absolutely somebody fought a waiter they started a fire aliens abducted them yep but no the woman on the phone assured us it wasn't intense bad it was intense good so good that it actually left her feeling like she may have met her forever person. Whoa. Wait on this show? That is intense. You're going to hear all about the moment in your second date update coming up.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Next. Second date update. What's worse than getting ghosted? Should we have a term for that? Getting deceased. Crypted? Crypted? Blackhold.
Starting point is 00:04:18 I bet these are all terms already that we probably shouldn't Google search. Maybe. Whatever you call it, that's what. what our listener Nicole says happened to her because not only did her date block her, he's removed his entire dating profile from the apps. So
Starting point is 00:04:33 Nicole got black hole bad. I think she just got blocked definitely. I didn't say that. Actually, it really doesn't sound right now that I say it out loud. But Nicole, either way, welcome to the show. Thank you. Wow. You are very perky for someone who is devastated. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Why on earth would you want to get a hold of someone that's blocked you? If I did anything wrong, I want to know about it. Okay. Interesting. So let's start at the beginning. Tell us about this guy that you met. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:00 So I met Elijah on a dating app. And on his dating profile, it was very clear. It literally said, here to find my wife with intentionality. Whoa. Wow. Okay. So he's not here to just have fun and see what happens. He's like.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Right. He might already be married. Oh, my gosh. In the two days or a week. I thought Alexis was going to break out in Hyves, you just reading that description of several. I feel like a lot of women would be turned off by something that strong, but that was
Starting point is 00:05:31 appealing to you, Nicole? Yeah, I'm looking for something serious. I want to build the future with someone, so I found it really refreshing. Okay. That's awesome. And that is unique nowadays, because most people are so vague. It's a lot of pressure going into a first date like that, you know?
Starting point is 00:05:47 So you went to Vegas to get hitched for your date? It's fun. She showed up in a dress. I mean, I would be really pissed if we got married on a first date and then never heard from him again. Oh, yeah. Hi, will you call my husband? What did you guys do? Okay, so we got together and we did something a little different.
Starting point is 00:06:08 That was really, really fun. Like, neither of us have pets, but we both are animal lovers. Okay. So we went to a local dog park, and we just sat and we chatted and we watched dogs. Aw. Did you bring your dog? She does a have a little. You don't have a dog?
Starting point is 00:06:24 That's what I was going to ask. I have never done that. Can you just show up to a dog park on your own? I've never even thought to do that because I don't have a dog. You call just going to a bar where people bring their dog. Jose, you're banned from most public spaces. But that's not because of the dogs, okay? That's because of the women.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Still. I think this is really cute because it does sound like a date that a couple who's been married for 20 years would do. Yeah. Instead of people watching, your dog watching together. So how was it? It was really fun. It was great. Like, it was so chill.
Starting point is 00:06:56 And then afterwards, we drove around the city, and he found this, like, really cute area. And we pulled over, and he kind of, like, pointed out some things to me that I hadn't known. And we ended up making out in his truck. Oh, my gosh. Nice. Yeah. Okay. What was also interesting, which I actually really liked, is, like, he stopped halfway through, like, the makeout session.
Starting point is 00:07:18 And he just, like, put his hands around my face. in a way that was really sweet, and he said, look, I just want you to know that I'm looking for my wife and I don't want this to be a one-night thing. Whoa. That's a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:35 And Jeffrey, you could not laugh with somebody describing such a tender moment. No, I was... You get so uncomfortable. You have such a hard time with emotions. I was laughing at something else. Yeah, I think of sure. The two hands and the face.
Starting point is 00:07:49 No, that was very sweet. I thought that was very nice. moment to stop in makeout to do that. I think both hands, grab both cheeks, bring her in and make out with her. I mean, it was nice. I was like, oh, my God, maybe this is my teacher husband. Dang. So that moment was
Starting point is 00:08:06 special. Yeah. Maybe you guys are perfect for each other. Yeah. If you're on the same page, that's all that matter. That's true. Everybody's in different spaces of dating. If she is ready for this, if this is what you want Nicole, then we got your back on it. But how messed up that you do that, you say that to someone, and then you
Starting point is 00:08:22 block her. Yeah. What happened after that? Did something... Okay. When we left, he gave me this romantic kiss again, and he was like, look, I'm looking for my forever, and I hope it's you. Aw.
Starting point is 00:08:36 I hope it's you. I thought that the whole time it was you, and that was the face grab and the stuff. Maybe we're reading into it too much. We don't know. Like, I really hope it's you. I don't know. It sounds like he's now a host of a reality show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:48 We'll find out when we come back from the break and spin the giant wheel. There's no giant wheel. I really hope it's you. It does sound like that. Oh, I laid it on jazz. Oh, not again. What is going on? So, okay, how long ago was that date?
Starting point is 00:09:04 This was about a week and a half ago. And, like, I went home after my yoga class. And I said specifically, like, oh, I want to see what he's up to. But I don't want to message him. Let me go look on his profile. Yeah. And I went on the app. And I was like, what the hell?
Starting point is 00:09:22 Like, why are we no longer match? Where are all our messages? Yeah, that's what I'm like. The messages are gone as bad. Is it in your mind that maybe somebody else has stepped in? And, like, he found, I mean, because people are dating on, like, lots of people on these apps all the time. Maybe he found somebody else. Sounds like me.
Starting point is 00:09:40 If someone proposed to him, he'd say yes. Yeah. I've said I love you to a lot of people that I didn't mean it to. So. He did? Well, that's just me, I'm sure. Yeah. I think.
Starting point is 00:09:49 And Jeff laughed at himself through the whole thing. He's very uncomfortable with big emotions. Let's figure out where Elijah's head is at, why he took down his dating profile. Yeah, it totally makes sense why you would want answers here. I looked up to hit Instagram and I was blocked there. Like, I literally can't see anything. Uh-oh. That's not good.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Okay, well. All right. It's a bad sign. I hope we don't block you at the end of this either. We'll find out when we come back, get some answers in your second date update right after this. Second Date Update. Vegas has set the odds at 9 to 1 that this call ends in a marriage proposal. Wow.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Wait, I'm really bad with odds. Is that good or bad? I'm honest. It's got to be good. I never know. A 9 to 1 should be, well. I don't really know. It's probably bad, actually.
Starting point is 00:10:37 You know what, Jeff, I'm not going to bet anymore. The fact that even Vegas is in on this should be kind of shocking because Nicole has asked us to call a guy named Elijah who repeatedly told her that he is not dating casually. God, he said, He says it a lot. He says it on his dating profile. He says it in real life. Very intentionally searching for his wife and even stopped mid-makeout to grab her face and remind her. This Frenching isn't for fun. It is a life hunt. I'm setting a tone with this tongue.
Starting point is 00:11:08 So afterwards, the weird part is, that's what he did. The weird thing is afterwards, he blocked Nicole and deleted his entire dating profile. What the heck? It's like a divorce immediately. And for Nicole, it's like, I'm guessing Nicole, maybe I'm wrong. This is like the most romantic thing that's probably ever happened on a first date, right? Yeah, I felt like a real connection. I thought to myself, oh, my gosh, like, this guy knows what he wants. And, like, I was so hopeful.
Starting point is 00:11:37 And then all of a sudden it's like, how can I not take this personally? Like, not only did he delete the profile block me on all socials. I don't even know if he's going to answer your number. Yeah. Well, this is one of those dudes that actions, speak louder than words. They'll tell you everything you want to hear and then they won't follow through and do it. I still feel like that I hope it's you line is just not sitting right with me. You feel like it's a line line like a real line. No, like it feels almost like there's a job opening and he's trying to fill a position. You know what I mean? Like he's not connecting with you. He's just trying to make this next step. I don't know. Maybe I'm reading too much of it into it. Maybe he found one of those Russian bride websites and he realized how easy it is to do that. So, I hope that's not the answer.
Starting point is 00:12:22 And she loves me. I pay her to say it. Let's call. See if he picks up and hopefully he has some explanation here. I'm dialing his number right now. Let's do this. Hello? Hey, is this Elijah?
Starting point is 00:12:42 Yeah, who's this? This is a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hey. Hi. And we are a hoot and a hat. Oh, my gosh. Please never say that again.
Starting point is 00:12:52 We are. We're fun time. It's hard. It's like just when we get popular. Okay. This is what's boosting the ratings. Elijah, you still there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Yeah, how we do it? Sorry, this is confusing. It shouldn't be. We're doing better until Jeff started talking. All right. But we're here. We're calling with a purpose. It's a segment that we're doing called Second Date Update.
Starting point is 00:13:13 That's where listeners can come on our show. And we try and help them reconnect with a person they went on a date with that they had a really nice time with darn it give up all right don't buy it dude I am so
Starting point is 00:13:27 interested in hearing yeah your side of this story because we heard that you went out with a woman named Nicole
Starting point is 00:13:34 about a week ago right okay yeah I mean it sounds like a really good date that you two
Starting point is 00:13:42 had would you agree with that yeah I mean it was cool it was cool okay I did not It is positive. I just didn't
Starting point is 00:13:51 you don't seem like a casual guy from what she explained. You're less intense than I assumed you'd be. She definitely intense is a good word because she said that you were putting it out there a lot that you were only dating to find a wife. I don't know he ever said love.
Starting point is 00:14:08 He just said wife. Guys, love is a wife. Not always. Check those Russian dating wildlings, dude. So we heard about that. You're looking for a wife. I mean, not anymore No way
Starting point is 00:14:22 I found one Wait Does that means there's another person Well here's the thing After the date I went to a clairvoyant And I got news that my wife
Starting point is 00:14:35 Isn't even in this realm What Okay You want to hang up Or you want to just keep talking to them I just hold on I just drop my pin Because I just can't
Starting point is 00:14:44 Okay hold on Let's unboxing it What do you mean? The psychic said your wife is not in this realm. Right. Where's the realm? It makes a lot of sense to me.
Starting point is 00:14:55 I get what you're saying, but maybe explain for everybody else here. Yeah, honestly. I believe that I've married other people in my past lives. Okay. And it's constantly the same person, maybe in a slightly different form. Oh, okay. Okay. So this same person, your soulmate, that's been with you across all your lives. She's not...
Starting point is 00:15:15 That's who you're looking for. She's not here. She's not here? No. Why? How do you know, brother? Like, how do you know that the girl you went on a date with isn't her? Because it's Clairvoyant told him.
Starting point is 00:15:25 I know, but what are you looking for is she say, it's me, hi, honey, like, you know what I'm here from the 17th century round? Part of the past life thing that you don't actually remember the... Explain it to us. Yeah, thank you. My clairvoyant said that I found my soulmate in every single dimension, but not this one. She doesn't exist in this one? No, that she's not here.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Not in this realm. realm. Okay. It doesn't matter where she is. I think this could be good news. Actually, yeah, because we have a real-life woman who feels like she had a strong connection with you. She's on round line three. And it sounds like you're freed up in this realm. You know, like you're single.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Like kind of permanently in this realm. Yeah, you're single. We're talking about Nicole, obviously. Nicole felt that connection with you. Okay. What do you mean? Okay. That's a good thing.
Starting point is 00:16:10 You told her again and again. I'm looking for my wife. I hope it's you. Is this a sign? Is what a sign? Yes. Yes, it is. Look, Nicole felt like you guys had a deep, deep connection,
Starting point is 00:16:25 and now you actually have a phone connection to her, too, because she's on the other line, waiting to talk to you. What? Hi, Elijah. That's Nicole. I know she's on the phone, but my wife's dead. Oh, no. What?
Starting point is 00:16:39 I'm so sorry. No, no, from the past life. I thought she wasn't in this realm. Right, correct. She never made it here. Oh, okay. Wait, what? Yeah, exactly, Nicole.
Starting point is 00:16:48 So why did you, we never even got to why you blocked Nicole. Thank you. This is why, because she's not his wife. So he's like, leave me a little, lady. Nobody's going to be his wife, though. Are we understanding that right? If you're not looking for your wife, since she's not in the realm, then you're not interested in dating at all? I guess some things are better off unexplained.
Starting point is 00:17:06 I don't have all the answers. Yeah, you're right. This is definitely unexplainable. Well, I think the explanation makes sense. He was searching for his wife the whole time. but not just anybody, a specific woman from another dimension. Yeah. And you're not that woman.
Starting point is 00:17:23 I think that this clairvoyant is really messing with you. Like, I feel like she is trying to kind of be the only person who can, like, access supposedly what your, quote, unquote, truth is. And I might not be your celestial being from a different realm. But I think you're going to miss out on some really great girls in this realm if you don't give us a really. So it will shot. Oh, that was good. That was so well spoken. What do you think about that?
Starting point is 00:17:52 Elijah? All I heard was that she was talking shit about my clairvoyant. Who is this man? Your clairvoyant can meet me outside. Oh, what? Wow. Do you want to fight a Clairvoy? Let's put the wife and the clairvoyne stuff aside.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Can we get into it? What about just having fun with Nicole, going out on another date and enjoying this life? I mean, you've got a woman that is. heard all of this and still wants to hang out with you. Yeah. I mean I guess. Did I do something wrong specifically for you to block me? You weren't my wife.
Starting point is 00:18:26 I don't know how many times I told you that. Okay. He's like, do you not get it? Maybe the clairvoyant is wrong. I mean, I'm just saying I don't like being rejected and I also have to say that like, I think it's just really short-sighted. We had a great time. Yeah. Well, I know this.
Starting point is 00:18:45 My wife didn't talk that much. in another lifetime. Oh, my God. Oh, that's a pretty clear sign. Oh, my gosh. Who else feels like the wife is purposely avoiding him now? Dude, yeah, the wife wasn't born into this century. It's on purpose.
Starting point is 00:18:59 Maybe that's my point in this lifetime to tell you to be more accepting of your future life in another realm. Okay. After that, you still want to see you? I know, Nicole still is fighting for this. So, Elijah, I think she's just fighting. I get that you have doubts about Nicole. What if you and Nicole went to?
Starting point is 00:19:16 to your clairvoyant together. Ew. And we would pay for the Uber ride. Oh my God. Can we have a phone call? Are you being serious? Nicole. Give it a chance.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Would Nicole even do that? Honestly, I'm just confused and curious as to what the clairvoyant would tell me about my path. I don't think you want to know. It's going to lead you down at Dark Trail. I want this to happen. So that's a yes from Nicole. Wow.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Elijah, it's up to you. My clairvoyant is in chief, so if she pays half, then I'm cool with it. All right. Nicole, I'm sure you're down for that I mean, hey, if it's on the radio we can even come back and tell you guys how it goes. I don't know if I want to know. Do we want to know that? I don't. I don't know. That's going to be a
Starting point is 00:19:56 no from all of us. Hey, it sounds like it's a yes. Elijah and Nicole, you guys are going out together in this realm. I can't wait until we do a second date update from the next realm. That's going to be expensive phone bill, Bruce.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulance.
Starting point is 00:20:46 is just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and Order Criminal Justice System is back. In Season 2, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight. That's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System
Starting point is 00:21:13 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you can. at your podcasts. Hello, it's Danielle Fischel. Rider Strong. And Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And we're bringing you Viva Las Content. That's right. We are back in Las Vegas,
Starting point is 00:21:32 the city of sin, and giving the people what they want. A full week of Y2K content. Wait, we're back in Vegas? Tell me why. Well, for the Backstreet Boys residency at Sphere, of course. We sat down with Kevin Rieh. Richardson and A.J. McLean just minutes before they took the stage, and our very own Wilfredel basically became the newest member of the band.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Boy band, please. Plus, the man who has the longest running comedy show on the strip joins us and gets his props. It's carrot top, baby. And finally, we all L-O-V-E-Hur. Ashley Simpson-Ross joins us to talk about her upcoming sold-out Vegas residency. It's a full week of nostalgic interviews you don't want to miss. Listen to PodMeets World on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Is that literally the only second date update where we actually got a yes, but then said, we don't need an update, we're good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:28 We don't want to know anymore. I cannot remember ever. I am still baffled by that entire conversation. I don't know what was real. Who believed what? If they were being sincere. Okay. Well, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Girls ask for a commitment. This guy's committed over what, hundreds of years. Yeah, and now we're in trouble. That's the most romantic guy ever. Valid point, Jose. True. Valid point. Maybe you were his wife.
Starting point is 00:22:51 It'll pass life. Yeah. That's it. I'm waiting for you, honey. I do think maybe the missing piece in all of this is, is it possible Elijah had been smoking something when we called him? You know, he sounded like that's his vibe. Like, he didn't sound like a big mysterious person. He was trying to reach the other dimension.
Starting point is 00:23:10 Ah. Through different means. Find his wife. trying to find his wife that way. I don't see her yet. I see a dragon, but that's not her. I think Alexis was on to something where he actually probably did have a wife and she just chose not to come back. She's like that's not worth coming back again.
Starting point is 00:23:30 I called it after our 400th marriage. It's enough for me. Text in 7-8-5-9-2 and make sure you follow us wherever you get your podcast if it's on Spotify, Apple, wherever, at Brooke and Jeffrey. feels like every single date ever always includes the same old questions where did you grow up what are your hobbies how many pieces of cannalop can you fit in your mouth at the same time that's actually a great question my record's 19 dang jim is it sliced like I don't even want to know I don't want to know I'll show you later we'll challenge each other it's the melon balls isn't it but well those might seem like pretty tame normal conversation starters one of our
Starting point is 00:24:14 Listener says she divulged a little too much when she was asked about her career aspirations. What? And while her answer was 100% true, he's 100% not calling her back anymore. And you're going to hear why in your second date update right after this. Second date update. We got an email from one of our listeners named Fran who said she dates a lot. Probably more than the average person, according to her. Was that a brag?
Starting point is 00:24:44 Well, I don't know if that's a brag If you're having to go out with lots and lots and lots of people It's like the opposite problem of being like alone But she says after 35 dates over the last six months She thinks she finally found a guy who doesn't totally repulse her Hey, that's good So her bar is very high Well, and now he's not calling her back
Starting point is 00:25:06 What? No The repulser becomes the repulsie And she's on the phone right now Fran, I love you. You disgust me. Welcome to the show. Hey, how are you guys? I'm so,
Starting point is 00:25:19 my God. I feel like you're proof that when people say, you just got to put yourself out there that it doesn't actually always work. Yeah, you put yourself out there a lot. For years and years and years. Yeah, poor thing.
Starting point is 00:25:30 Tell us about the guy that you recently met. Okay, so I met this guy through the way we always hate meeting people, online dating. Yeah, for sure. His name is Tommy. Okay. He was so handsome.
Starting point is 00:25:42 And, you know, but you see a ton of people online that are attractive and you kind of don't think anything of it. But I looked through his photos and he had this one photo of him with two cats that were his cats. It was really sweet because guys were always posting photos with like dogs or like when they're fishing and all this other stuff. And it was just really sweet to see something that wasn't that. He posted a totally different animal. This guy is a keeper. I don't know. I kind of.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Yeah, a cat guy, it just screams. He's sensitive. He's in tune. He's not like, there's no toxic masculinity stuff happening there. Like if it was a tiger cat, that would be a red flag. A house cat. Red flag. That's a green one.
Starting point is 00:26:21 So, you know, we had some really cute banter back and forth. And finally, he kind of dropped the tent like, oh, you know, I make these really amazing homemade enchiladas. I know, I know. And he was just like, you know, how would you feel if I made dinner for you and he came over? Did it feel too good to be true already? He's hot. He's got cats. He cooks for you.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Honestly, kind of, but, you know, you also have that thing where you're like, well, maybe 27 or 80 times a charm, whatever we're at now. And so you're like, we'll see. I like your eternal optimism on the dating. You know, like to go out on that many dates and keep trying. You kind of have to be because I think if you get too jaded, that's not attractive to people either, you know? No, that's true, too.
Starting point is 00:27:05 That's probably where I'm at. I'm guessing you RSVPed yes to the enchilada date. I did So, you know, I went over there Really cute place, clean, another plus So he makes these enchiladas And I'm watching him cook There's something so sexy about watching a man cook
Starting point is 00:27:23 And when he knows his way around the kitchen I really like it when they throw a towel Like over the side of their shoulder That's like a thing for me Oh yeah, and the big chef hats Sexy No, but I will take an apron now Oh, an apron is good
Starting point is 00:27:39 It's not good, Joe. Okay, I'll get rid of mine. Hairnet either. You don't need a hairnet. Oh, what about the big fake mustache? Yeah. Right? Sweetish chef style.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Yeah. Okay. What was the vibe like, the conversation? So it was good. Like, our banter online was pretty much the same in person, which is always nice. You know, it wasn't awkward. And we're chatting back and forth. And, of course, inevitably, it always comes to the same question, which is, you know, what do you do for a living?
Starting point is 00:28:07 And the thing is, I work in insurance. That is not a sexy thing to talk about. It's boring. What are you talking about? Insurance is hot. I can show you a 20-page document. You have to sign on the bottom. All in nine font.
Starting point is 00:28:22 So you told him insurance? Yeah, well, if I'm feeling it out and the vibe is good, I'll usually be pretty honest and be like, my day job is insurance, but I'm also an author and I'm working on a book right now. Oh, that's cool. That is better. You're right. And that's true, right?
Starting point is 00:28:39 It is true, yes. But the problem is they always say, well, what are you working on now? And I am really honest about it. And this is true. I'm working on a collection of all of the worst dates that I've been on. Oh. Okay. You know, it's a slightly relatable.
Starting point is 00:28:59 I have a lot of comedian friends, and it's hard to date because girls immediately go, oh, I don't want to end up in one of your jokes on stage. Yeah, totally. This would be like, I don't want to end up in one of your books. Then don't mess it up. That's a lot of pressure, Brooke. It's easy to mess up. Is that the vibe of what happened with Tommy?
Starting point is 00:29:14 Yeah, it really kind of derailed. And, you know, we finished dinner. Dinner was great still. But this is the thing I usually will do, too. It's like, I don't want to put too much pressure on somebody, especially if you're, like, invited to their home or whatever. So I made plans already to go and meet up with my friends after we had dinner in a bar. And so, and I told him that.
Starting point is 00:29:33 I said, you're more than welcome to come, hoping that he would. But you're more than welcome to come isn't always a full invite. It feels like a pity. invite, I feel like. Oh, but I think some people would like to be invited like that, you know, like, for me, it's like, I don't feel pressured where it's like, shoot, now if I say no, I'm rejecting her. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:29:49 It's kind of like, oh, you know what? I don't think this time, but maybe next time. What did he say? Oh, he said no. Yeah. Yeah, and it was really weird. And, like, we had this really awkward hug goodbye. Oh.
Starting point is 00:30:02 And I really liked him a lot. And I really just want some clarity because I feel like this is a thing that you can't be mad at somebody for working on something well before you ever bet well and it does have anything to do with him I mean what was his reaction because you seem to think that this was the main part of the night where things started to go downhill like tell us more about how Tommy reacted when you told him about the book I got a vibe from him that he just started to like internalize and be like oh well is that why she's on a date with me is she really interested in me or is this research you know well you should tell him you're past the research stage that was
Starting point is 00:30:39 months ago. You're well into the second edit of this thing. When he rejected you, you should have just pulled out a notebook and been like, well, it looks like you. Making a footnote of this. Thanks for chapter 24. Well, we'll see once and for all if he
Starting point is 00:30:55 does end up in your book. Do you be in the book? I don't want to be in that book. Why do you want to be? It's the worst experiences. You know what? I'm probably already in her book. Twice, actually. We'll come back, and we're going to call Tommy and see if we can get you another date with him when we do your
Starting point is 00:31:13 second date update next second date update top three worst things you could say to a guy on a first date okay I'm not who I said I was your dad was better oh oh dang truth hurts I'm a New York Jets fan oh boo yikes you just love mediocrity do those exist though like they don't really exist. I'm not even in New York. They're too embarrassed to admit it. But also, not a great idea to tell a guy, I'm currently writing a book about the worst dudes I've ever gone out with. That's pretty dang bad, bro. Is it bad, though? I mean, it's your first date with her. You think so, too? It plays off of a guy's insecurities, which are many. And that's exactly what Fran said when she was out with Tommy the other night while he was making her enchiladas. That moment kind of derailed their
Starting point is 00:32:08 entire night. But he was a guy that had cats in the photo of his dating profile. He shouldn't have had insecurities. What? You know? She understands what I'm saying, right? Did that make sense to you, Fran? I mean, yeah. I thought he was more in touch with that stuff. See?
Starting point is 00:32:26 Huh. So I don't know. Just like the vibe of cat dudes give it off like, I'm stable. I know who I am. Huh. Really? Give you a mental checklist before you buy a cat. I'm saying, that's the vibe. That's the vibe. Okay, okay, I'll accept that. Okay, nothing toxic about what Brooke just said.
Starting point is 00:32:44 I don't think Jeff is acceptable, though. Shouldn't have insecurities. All right. Let's see if he agrees with that sentiment when we call him right now. You ready to do this, Fran? Let's do it. I hope one of the cat's answer. Let's give it a try.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Hello? Hey, is this Tommy? Uh, yes. You an insecure boy, Tommy? What? Why don't you say that? I don't see what you thought. No, I thought he wasn't.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Tommy, sorry. Sorry. We already were having a discussion before we called. Yeah, it spilled over into this phone call. We're a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Yo. Uh, why are you calling me? Good question.
Starting point is 00:33:29 We're doing this segment called a second date update. And one of our listeners asked us to reach out to you because you two hung out the other night. Remember Fran? Yeah, yeah, I do. You took ancelotas for her, we heard, which is a pretty awesome move. How do you know all this? This is straight from Fran's mouth.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Well, Fran's mouth to my ears, to my mouth. Why are you making everything? It's so strange today. Fran told us is what he's trying to say. Those are the words I was looking for. All you have to say is told us. Yes. Because she likes you.
Starting point is 00:34:06 She likes you and she wants to see you again and is confused why it hasn't happened yet. Well, I mean, just being honest, it was a little weird. Oh, weird? Yeah. Okay. Well, here's the deal, man. Like, we get emails all the time from people asking us to do these for them. And Fran admitted that she's dated a lot of people and you stood out among all the guys.
Starting point is 00:34:32 You were different and she really, really liked you. and she also wishes that she didn't bring up the book that she was writing well okay so that's the thing I mean it was going fine you know it was she seemed nice enough you know it was a fine date and then she brings up this book and it's just like I mean it's so weird like am I just content for you to put into your book like but she wouldn't tell you about the book if she thought you were going to be in it like she's just sharing what's going on in your life her life and she'd already written about all the other bad dates, she was really thought she was on a good date with you.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Yeah, okay, but here's the thing. So then I'm like, okay, this is kind of weird, but maybe it's fine. You know, maybe this doesn't include me. But then I was like, hey, what are some of the bad dates that you went on? Yeah. That's good. She's showing interest. That's a good question. Then you know what not to do. Well, and I'm sure she has like
Starting point is 00:35:24 some big stories that she made bigger just to make the book entertaining too, right? Did she tell you or did she keep it a secret? You have to buy the book to find out. She only read the first 20 seconds. sentences and then you have to purchase the rest. She told me a few, and he's looking 100% real that she didn't embellish. Okay. But one of them, she was like, oh, man, it was so terrible.
Starting point is 00:35:47 I, like, went, had this date with this guy, and he just wanted to play board games all night. Okay. Like, we went back to his place, and he had Monopoly, and he had Scrabble, and it was just like an endless, like, it's all he wanted to do. Monopoly? What, do you want this date to last three days? book worthy. Yeah, that was her horror story. So what's a problem with that?
Starting point is 00:36:10 Well, the thing is, is that I kind of had a whole night planned, and after dinner, like, what's in my living room? A couple of board games play. Oh, I see. So it just derailed your, okay. I care. But then I have to make excuses to, like, sneak over to the living room and, like, hide the games I had. Oh, buddy.
Starting point is 00:36:31 I did. I guess we're not going to play Connect 4 tonight. I bet that that's not what she meant. I bet it's not that she didn't want to play board games. It's just that maybe this guy had literally hours of it playing or something. Or it was, like, really competitive in a dumb way, you know? Yeah, I mean, maybe. But then she was also like, I've been on, like, so many days where, like, guys, I've tried to cook for me.
Starting point is 00:36:52 I've just, like, totally burnt the food. Oh. And I'm, like, in the middle of cooking while she says this. So then I'm like, oh, my God. Turning the oven down. Just, uh. If I don't get these enchiladas perfect, I'm going to get. written about and I'm like
Starting point is 00:37:06 it was just very stressful and it's not fun I mean I can see how her stories you could interpret them to be about you I don't think that was it wasn't her intention though yeah and you don't have to just believe us telling you that you can hear it straight from
Starting point is 00:37:22 Fran's mouth why do I keep saying it like that because she's on the other line right now wants to talk to you man oh my God Hey. That's Fran in her mouth. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Bye. Go ahead, Fran's mouth. Say stuff. Hey, Tommy. First of all, I'm sorry. That's a good start. Everything that you said is true. And you would ask, and I just thought it would be, like, they were kind of funny and silly,
Starting point is 00:37:55 and I just thought it would be fine to kind of talk about it. But I can see how that would send somebody kind of into their head. Tommy? Are you hearing her? No, he's in his head. Yeah. I don't know. It's just like a little, I mean, I don't know how you want me to feel about that, you know?
Starting point is 00:38:11 It's just like, I feel like, all right, sweet. Put a ton of pressure on me, like on this first date when I don't know you, you know? Right. Listen, first of all, I had no idea about the board games, and I'm sorry if you felt like you had to hide step. And to be clear, the board game guy tried to explain settlers of the Catan to me for an hour, and I just couldn't handle it. Okay. But it's not that you hate any board games as a date night. It was just with that particular guy, right?
Starting point is 00:38:35 Yeah, with somebody that, yeah. You're down to Scrabble with Tommy, maybe. Scrabble's one of the worst games. What? Scrabble's so fun. Leave something else. Okay, what, you want mouse trap? Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Yeah. Play some operation. Oh, hungry, hungry hippos can turn in a honey, no, they can't, Jose. It's for me. I've actually never played hungry, hungry hippos. Oh, bro. No, it is the worst game.
Starting point is 00:39:00 It is so dumb. I'm sorry. Fun for the whole family. It is. I mean, honestly, as somebody who talked about not liking board games, I really like that game. See? See? It's like 4V1, Brooke.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Okay. All right. I really, Tommy, I'm going to take Fran's side here. I really don't think you need to feel, like, insecure about her, you know, worst people I've ever dated book. Just don't read chapter 14. Maybe her second book can be about how her dating life turned into a relationship, and that could be starring you. Nobody wants to read that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:32 I'm writing a worst co-worker. I've ever had book and no one in this room is in it. See, you don't need to feel insecure about that at all. I don't because keep talking. You might make it away just by comparison. But I really think you should give Fran
Starting point is 00:39:48 another shot here, Tommy. And if you're willing to go out with her, we'll pay for that date. Look, I was having a good time. If I can maybe just get a promise that she's not going to write about me, that would be amazing. This is going to be a really juicy chapter that she'd have to leave out.
Starting point is 00:40:08 I'll tell you what, Tommy, I will do you one better. I will write about this, except I will take full responsibility and be the bad date. Oh. Oh, you're going to be the bad day. Table's turd. Wait, does that mean you're using us as content to be in your book? Oh, I think I have to call my agent first, and I'm sure that there's a cut that we're supposed to get. Too late.
Starting point is 00:40:31 I've already had the chapter out. outline. Okay, well, I'm starting a new book. Worst listeners I've ever talked to one of the movie. But congratulations, you guys. We're going to send you on a little day. Hey, keep us updated, okay? And let us know how when the books published as well.
