Starting point is 00:00:00 The Stuff You Should Know guys have made their own summer playlist of their must listen podcasts on movies. It's me, Josh, and I'd like to welcome you to the Stuff You Should Know Summer movie playlist. What Screams Summer? More than a nice, darkened, air-conditioned theater, and a great movie playing right in front of you. Episodes on James Bond, special effects, stunt men and women, disaster films, even movies that change filmmaking, and many more. Listen to the Stuff You Should Know Summer Movie playlist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Have you ever looked at a piece of abstract art or music or poetry and thought, that's just a bunch of pretentious nonsense?
Starting point is 00:00:37 That's exactly what two bored Australian soldiers set out to prove during World War II when they tricked the literary world with their intentionally bad poetry, setting off a major scandal. We break down the truth, the lies, and the poetry in between on hoax, a new podcast hosted by me, Lizzie Logan, and me, Dana Schwartz. Every episode, Hoax explores an audacious fraud or ruse from history. Listen to Hoax on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey guys, it's AZ Fud. You may know me as a gold medalist.
Starting point is 00:01:09 You may know me as an NCAA national champion. You may even know me as a people's princess. Every week on my new podcast, Fud Around and Find Out, I'll be talking to some special guests about pop culture, basketball, and what it's like to be a professional athlete on and off the court. Listen to Fud Around and Find Out, a production of IHart Women's Sports in partnership with unanimous media on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. It's Black Business Month, and Money and Wealth podcast with John Hope Bryant is tapping in. I'm breaking down how to build wealth, create opportunities, and move from surviving to thriving.
Starting point is 00:01:46 It's time to talk about ownership, equity, and everything in between. Black and brown communities have historically been last in life. Let me just say this. AI is moving faster than civil rights legislation ever did. Listen to Money and Wealth from the Black Effect Podcast Network on iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. So what happened to Chappaquittic? Well, it really depends on who you talk to. There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond. And left a woman behind to drown. Chappaquittic is a story of a tragic death and how the Kennedy machine took control.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Every week, we go behind the headlines and beyond the day. drama of America's royal family. Listen to United States of Kennedys on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And we got double the fun for you today. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. And we got two
Starting point is 00:02:42 classic second dates. Back to back. Yeah. People are really enjoying the longer version of this, of course, segment. But a reminder, if you didn't watch Young Jeffrey's song on YouTube, you need to. You're missing out. Yeah. Especially if you love Disney, like, who doesn't?
Starting point is 00:02:58 Yeah. Are there Disney haters? Oh, there's a lot of them, Brooke. There's a whole culture of Disney haters. Wow. Maybe the Universal fans, some drama there. Dude, if you're a Disney hater, log on and you can just comment away. Yeah, there you go. How disgusted you are with Jeffrey and his singing.
Starting point is 00:03:13 That's fine, too. You too, at Brooke and Jeffrey. And we always start with a comment. What do you like, Alexis? Yeah, Joshua Irwin said, I've listened for about nine years now. Jose, Brooke and Jeff, you guys are awesome. Not you, Alexis. You're awful.
Starting point is 00:03:26 I know Alexis doesn't like compliments. So they did it out of love. They know me. And I appreciate that, Joshua. I've never seen her so receptive to a non-compliment. It's really good. That's really good. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Your double classic, second date, start right now. If you end a sentence by saying, quote, not in a creepy way, does that ever make it better? Why are you laughing, ladies? We're not laughing in a creepy way. No, it does make it great. For example, I walked into a 7-Eleven and I looked at the hot dog case. Not in a creepy way. I feel like I made it worse there.
Starting point is 00:04:05 That was a fine sentence before you kept talking. Just the dogs? And that's what one of our listeners did on the phone today while describing portions of his date. You tell us if him saying that makes it any better in your second date update right after this. Second date update. If you've ever gone fishing. Rule number one is go where the fish are. Oh, it's a good rule.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Usually some type of body of water. It's a good place to start. Fishing on dry land. No, not good. No offense, this is before you start, Jeff. Yeah, a lot of people don't even put that first, though. Oh, God. They're more worried about baiting their hook, polishing their lure,
Starting point is 00:04:44 making it look all sexy with lipstick and body glitter. I just know our listener, Colin, said that his dating strategy is to go where the fish are. That's not how you would try. and apply lipstick later. Okay. So, Colin, happy to have you. Welcome to the show. I'm so confused.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Yeah. I think Colin's here to help. Yes. Colin, you're the fishing expert. How are you doing, dude? Hey, you're doing all right. How are you guys? All right.
Starting point is 00:05:09 So when you say, hey, Jeff, go attract the fish. You don't mean put lipstick on the lure, right? I've never tried it. We'll put it that way. Oh, okay. Well, you said, you mentioned you want to go where the fish are when it comes to the dating world. What do you mean by that? Um, you know, I am active in the dating community, we'll say.
Starting point is 00:05:27 I'd like meeting a lot of ladies and I'm taking risks. Oh. Okay, but where? Where are you taking such risks? I am going out of my comfort zone and I started going to bar classes. Oh, like bar. B-A-R-R-E, bar. B-A-R-R-E.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Oh, I thought it was bar-A. No, it's bar. What's that? Really? Is there an accent over the E? It's just bar. But it's like, it's kind of like Pilates, but it's more of a dance background. My mom loves it.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Okay, so it's a workout, though. Yeah, yeah, it's an exercise class. Okay, it's mostly women that go to those. Not a lot of guys, right? Literally have never seen a dude in our class. Oh, okay. It's where the ladies are. Got it.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Okay. Now I see. As one of the only guys in the class, do you feel like the women there maybe respect you more? Ha, ha, ha, well, I don't know if the women, like, respected me, or they just laughed. I don't know. I got a little of both. Okay. I'm going to tell you, if you tell me.
Starting point is 00:06:22 them that you're there to hit on other single women, they're going to kick you out of the class. You didn't advertise that when you went. No, no, you don't say the quiet part out loud, you know what I mean? Yeah. Okay. Okay. All right. So, how did you parlay this bar class into a date? So
Starting point is 00:06:38 one of the women I met was Clarice and I was getting a lot of laughs from her. I will be honest, I didn't even know what I was doing. Some of the stretches were that's tough. It's a very hard. You know, it's harder than you think. Yeah. But I tried to get on her same class schedule, and basically any
Starting point is 00:06:54 time she was going to be class, I, you know, I can't believe you're here. Wait. How did you find something out like that? Trial in her. Okay. So you had some days you'd break into her cell phone. Eventually, you'll get the password, right? But, like, you notice every Wednesday she's here.
Starting point is 00:07:12 So you're putting some energy into meeting Clarice. Yeah, I'm in good shape now. I'll tell you that. You know, it's funny. Brooke shows up to work every day in his Jeffrey, you know, It's a look. I know. She's always coming into the studio, the same time I'm coming into the studio.
Starting point is 00:07:28 I don't know what it is about. She's like obsessed with me. Okay. So, okay, you were, so you were going to the same classes as Clarice was for many days, many weeks. How did that work? She didn't seem totally grossed out by me. So eventually I had a disaster out. And we went to an escape room together.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Oh. That's a unique day. You're going to be both into it, right? Just you, too? Is it always a group thing? Usually it is, but you can book a just you two, I'm assuming. Yeah, yeah, it's fun. You know, we got out, you know, quicker than I thought we would.
Starting point is 00:08:03 I mean, I solved most of the clues for us. Oh, you did? Did she seem like she wanted to escape you the whole time? Or did she not want to solve the puzzles, if you know what I'm saying? We were having a good time, but also there's a camera in there, and, you know, you can't like. You can't stand there that long when they start sending the clues. You have to know. You're right.
Starting point is 00:08:21 You're right. And it's competitive. Maybe you have a time limit, too. But it is dark, and, like, the lights are kind of, like, flickery and romantic inside the room. I did a horror-themed one, and that is not romantic. I did the campfire one, a helicopter crime. Yeah, dude, this is like Da Vinci Code themed or whatever. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Renaissance. Maybe not quite as romantic. So you guys escaped, and then what? Then she stops, Ritchie out, you know? Wait. Wait, what? Did she get drinks or anything? Did she talk?
Starting point is 00:08:48 It sounds like she escaped out a different exit than you did you describe it like that. She hit the emergency exit? No, no, no, no. So, like, that day ended well, right? We, you know, I exercised in front of her, saw clues in an escape room. I was flexing physically and mentally and everything. And I thought it was going good. And now I'm, you know, I'm not hearing back from her.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Okay. Like, was there any romantic feeling after? Well, it's just not really a good date for small talk. It's not. Were you able to establish some sort of romantic connection with her? It can be flirty, you know, looking for clues together, like Doarly Explor. you know, like, oh, oh, no. Oh, I dropped the magnifying glass over here, you know.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Oh, I found one of the keys, but guess which pocket is it? Uh-oh. Swiper, no swiping. Oh, let's not bring Dora into this. Oh, yeah. All right? Most people don't think romance and go Dora the Explorer. Speak for yourself.
Starting point is 00:09:41 Have you not seen her at bar class? No, not lately. I've been trying to, you know, figure out what classes she's going to and, like, not a creepy way. But, like, yeah. No, but you kind of knew, and now she changed her schedule, it sounds like. I feel like any time you say something and then follow it with Not in a creepy way, maybe it's a, it's a little bit of a red flag. That's okay, because we're going to come back and do your second date update. Call her not in a creepy way and get you guys to go out with your second date update right after this.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Hold on. Second date update. Some guys try to pick up women at the bar, but our listener, Colin, he picks up women at the bar. Oh, I get it. As in the exercise class, geared towards women, and he was the only dude in there,
Starting point is 00:10:30 kept going to the same classes as a girl named Clarice, who he took a liking to. Clearly, those three-pound weight lunges impressed her, because she agreed to a date with him at an escape room, just the two of them.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Dude, do not make fun of those three pounds. You will be shaking and sweating and cursing. rap after rap. So slow heart raps. Oh, my God. I'm shaking in fear, just thinking about it. But the two of them solved the puzzle together, and that was basically it. Afterwards, she left, which brings me to my question, because the one thing you didn't tell us, Colin, was that supposed to be the entire date, just the escape room, like 30 minutes, and then it was done?
Starting point is 00:11:11 No, I'm not a psycho. Not a psycho. That's good. I'm only in a trap or a room for a selected amount of time. Yeah. What was your plan? Obviously, like, activity and then, like, go to a bar or whatever, you know? Am I the only one that feels like escape room sounds more fun after the drinks?
Starting point is 00:11:27 Yeah, it does. So, just to be clear, you did go to a bar afterwards or you didn't? No, no. So we were outside after the thing. I invited her out for a drink, and she said she didn't have the time. Which, again, we escaped early. Like, we escaped early. We escaped early?
Starting point is 00:11:44 You know the easy one? Maybe she found out about your little bar ploy, about showing up to the... Oh, that's right. Maybe she realized that you kept... You figured out all her class schedule, so... Oh, yeah. I guess we're going to find out. Like it was a clue in the room or something?
Starting point is 00:12:02 I don't know. Girls talk, and there's a lot of women in that class. Let's give Clarissa a call here, see if she answers, and hopefully figure out what's going on. I'm dialing her number right now. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Clarice? This is.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Hey, Clarice. My name is Jeff. Hey, Clarice. There's a whole bunch of people on the phone right now. Hi. Hi. We're a whole show. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Hi. Like, uh... Hello? Hello? Sorry, your phone is a little weird. Um, hello? There we go. Can you hear us?
Starting point is 00:12:44 Okay. I don't think phones are used to getting calls. No. Can you go to the store and buy a new phone and then we'll call you back? I'm not bad point. Valid point. I know if we could just do text messages all over the radio. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Oh, wait, we do that segment. But we're doing a segment here. It's called the second date update. We're trying to help one of our listeners get in touch with you after you went out on a date with him. His name is Colin? Yeah, actually I do. You do what? You remember him?
Starting point is 00:13:16 Yeah. Okay, I didn't ask if you remembered him But it's nice that you offered that up She's even seemed surprised Oh, good me I remember him What do? Like, you caught me off guard I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:13:27 We joke around a lot It's not you Yeah, I'm a painfully sarcastic person And everybody loves it So here's the Like what do you want for me Honestly Well, we're trying to help Colin
Starting point is 00:13:39 Figure out if there's a reason Why you two haven't met up again Because he felt like You had a good connection there weren't a lot of problems in the date, but we're not sure if that's true. Okay. Okay. So what?
Starting point is 00:13:54 Like you're asking me like why I don't want to meet with him again or what? Or if that's even the case, we don't know because all we know is that your guys' date ended after the escape room. It seemed to end pretty quickly. Here, let me fill that gap for you because I don't really have the time right now. Okay. Do your thing. Let's know. Apparently that's what you said after the escape room, too.
Starting point is 00:14:15 So I left my purse in the escape room. And so, like, I went back in to, like, ask the person, what do you call on, like, sitting at the front desk? The attendant? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, like, I went and asked her, and, like, we were going to get it. And, like, she filled me in on what was really going on with him.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Let me just say that. What? What? Why would she know? Well, because apparently he is not a new customer. She called him an escape room. Room Romeo. Escape room Romeo.
Starting point is 00:14:48 That's got a ring to it. That sounds nice. Yo, I'm going to buy that Instagram here right now. I don't know. I didn't know what the fuck that meant. What does it mean? It sounds like someone who's really romantic
Starting point is 00:15:00 and good with their words. Yeah, well, color me uneducated because I'm pretty sure that play ended with him killing himself. Yeah, let's hope that's not. So we know that didn't happen. So what I was told, right? And it's just what I was told.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Like, whatever. that he brings a lot of girls with the same, like, escape room. But he comes on, like, the weekends and, like, practices little puzzles, right? That's how he knows how to solve it so quickly. Yes. Oh.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Wait, what a waste of his money. He mentioned that he was able to... He mentioned he was able to, like, solve everything really, really quickly. No, he also mentioned he was brain flexing. Do you remember that? Yeah. So wait, so you're saying that he practices these puzzles in escape rooms to show off to women. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:15:52 And that makes me feel better. The one I did, we barely finished it. And it was the easiest one. And it was like an hour. It's so funny. So I was like, wow, this guy's a genius. So you're jealous that you're not the first woman that he solved that puzzle with. Or are you more turned off he spends his weekends doing that.
Starting point is 00:16:07 There you go. At least he's trying to show off that he's smart. I mean, even if he's not doing it in a smart way. Because at least he thinks that that's something that's important to you. He's like, I memorized the test. You know? Yeah, so like, I don't know what to think. Yeah, no, that would be a deal breaker.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I know who knows what you should think. And that's Colin, who's on the other line listening and wanting to talk to you right now. Important to note this is the first time he's done this. Yes. With our show. First time caller to the second date update. Colin, are you there? I am.
Starting point is 00:16:37 Hello. Hi, Cluette. Hi, Colin. That's kind of a very good. Wow. Well, I'm a little embarrassed Yeah, that's okay It's not every day you get called a Romeo
Starting point is 00:16:48 No, he just got caught I thought we had a good date, I don't know Yeah, okay, but the thing is Is that like, according to your history I'm not the first one Like, this is a game, Gio I'm not trying to play games What?
Starting point is 00:17:02 Well, I mean, it's an escape room It's always going to be It's a game by nature Hey, hey, listen, listen, I don't know That he's trying to play games Maybe he is, maybe he isn't But some people just like to go somewhere on a date where they're comfortable. And they feel like they can be themselves.
Starting point is 00:17:17 And maybe he feels most inside an escape room. No, he's doing this same exact room with, like, multiple women. Well, sure, we think that, but... He's trying to, like, pretend he's smart. Like, I don't think he's smart. No. Well, none of us are really smart on this show. So I think it's...
Starting point is 00:17:38 Hey, wait a minute. I think he deserves credit just for even... going through the effort of planning this for you. Thank you. This big room of dummies thinks that he did something okay. It's true. I mean, most of the guys that we talk to don't plan anything at all. No, and he said when we talk to me, he loves to take risks.
Starting point is 00:17:56 That doesn't happen a lot. Let alone memorize numeric codes so that you couldn't get out of. You guys don't think this is some type of scam? Because, like, he's running this on other people. It's not a scam. He's not a scam. He's paying for everything. It just sounds boring for him.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Yeah. It sounds like repetitive. Now you think I'm smart. You want to make out of it. It's just kind of lame, I think. It's the same thing. Lame? Nah, dude.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Like, I'm there like at least twice a month, maybe every week. I bring women with me every time and it's dope. It works all the time. Oh, and it works. It works one time. You haven't had a second date with any of those women, including Clarice. That's a good point. I've solved it too fast.
Starting point is 00:18:40 I should let her do it. Oh, yes. That's a totally her. Humility right there. This guy plans. He thinks things through. He can solve puzzles. He's humble.
Starting point is 00:18:52 He's getting harder to defend for me. I'm finding more and more reasons that you should give him another shot, Clarice. And if you do, we would pay for that second date. He made me feel dumb on the date. Why? Because he was solving the clues before you? He'll let you solve some next time. He made me feel like I was an idiot.
Starting point is 00:19:11 Oh. We're not knowing any of us. So I was like, but my son's saying, yeah. Love makes idiots of us all is a very famous quote. Look it up. It is. It is. And I think it's worth another shot with a guy that's willing to go through all this effort for you.
Starting point is 00:19:29 And he's giving that same effort to many, many women. So if you don't take it, someone else definitely will. That is not the offer you think it is. It's the best I can do. All right, can I just say fine, as long as I get a confirmation that he hasn't solved it before we go in there.
Starting point is 00:19:49 You want to do another escape room? You just said it made you feel stupid. We meant a restaurant. No, she wants to beat him. He's like, sweet. She's going to prove a point. All right. I'm down.
Starting point is 00:20:00 She's sweet. Okay. It's a successful second date. We're hooking you two up calling and Clarkees. Make that guy feel like a dummy on that date. All right, Louise. Now let's escape them and hang up. All right.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Bye-bye. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. The Stuff You Should Know guys have made their own summer playlist of their must listen podcasts on movies. Listen to the Stuff You Should Know Summer Movie playlist on the IHeart Radio app.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts. Have you ever looked at a piece of abstract art or music or poetry and thought, that's just a bunch of pretentious nonsense? Well, that's exactly what two bored Australian soldiers set out to prove during World War II. When they pulled off what was either a bold literary hoax or a grand poetic experiment, publishing over a dozen intentionally bad but highly acclaimed works of expressionist poetry under the name Earn Malley in an incident that caused a media firestorm and even a criminal trial. The Earned Malley episode made fools of believers and critics alike
Starting point is 00:21:16 and still fascinates poetry lovers to this day. We break down the truth, the lies, and the poetry in between on hoax, a new podcast hosted by me, Lizzie Logan, and me, Dana Schwartz. Every episode, hoax explores an audacious fraud or ruse from history, from forged artworks to the original fake news, to try and answer why we believe. Listen to hoax on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. You know what we never talked about in that second date update? How he kept planning to run into her at that exercise class. He didn't want to out and we were trying to give him a chance to like get a date.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Right. But that's how we met her. Plus then we found out he planned the escape room. I mean, this guy's a great planner. I miss you. He's eating a lot in his day. When you put all those things together, I'm thinking maybe her gut was right and she shouldn't have gone out with it. Really?
Starting point is 00:22:10 I'm thinking, Brooke, you should hire him as your assistant. This guy has follow-through. He could probably even paint the signs for your next protest. He probably already knows what my schedule is, Jeff. I don't. It's true. So, hey, if you're listening, just show up. Yeah, make Brooke sign down with schools.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Down with people. We get it, Brooke. You have a lot of causes. Boo teachers. So you need that assistant. I hate gold movie. Anyway, I hope that we do get another update from that couple. so we can finally learn once and for all
Starting point is 00:22:40 who's the smarter one between them in the end. Yeah, fair game this time. It always works out well when we have intelligence battles on this show. Yeah, so bring your intelligence on, and we can try and help you with your dating life. We'll call that person who's not calling you back. Go check out all of our second dates, wherever you get your podcast at Brooke and Jeffrey.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. What do you do if you walk up to a customer service counter and realize the employee standing behind it is the person of your dreams. Wow, this is the best ice cream shop ever. If you're me, it's easy. What? Oh, Jeffrey, that's not appropriate.
Starting point is 00:23:19 Nobody wants you in. I zip up my jacket. So I look more professional. I don't believe you. I don't believe you. That's what I do. Okay. That's better.
Starting point is 00:23:28 All the way up, right up to the neck. As tight as I could get it. The guy on the phone today was braver than me. He went for it and asked her out on a date Turned it into a great time But why isn't she calling back? We're going to try and find out When we do your second date update
Starting point is 00:23:47 Now I'm ready for action That was definitely down It's casual, it's right after this Second date update Brooke I'm going to ask you a question And I think I already know the answer But has a guy ever tried to hit on you? you while you're working?
Starting point is 00:24:08 Like it? Yes. Yeah. I've been at so many different events in my life. I'm not talking about the homeless guys asking for a free cookie at the burger bar. I mean like a normal customer trying to game you down on the job. Oh, on the job. Yes.
Starting point is 00:24:23 People have absolutely hit on me. And some of it has been very inappropriate behavior. I'm just going to let you know. Those are the ones that you love the best. I bet. I would think it's hard to do to get a lot. a girl to say yes while she's in the middle of working, but one of our listeners says
Starting point is 00:24:39 he managed to pull it off, and his name is Marshall. Needs a little bit of help today. Marshall, welcome to the show. Hey, how are you guys today? Are you like one of those truck drivers when I worked at Burger Heaven that would come up to the window, and then they would say, hey, you got pretty
Starting point is 00:24:55 eyes. No, no, I wouldn't think so. Brooke, we don't need to hear the story about how you lost your virginity again. Let's go back to Marshall. Marshall, tell us about where you met a woman while she was working. Where did that happen? All right. Well, you know, there's a little backstory. I travel all around the country for business. Oh, God, you are a long haul truck. There, aren't you? I knew it. Nothing like that. Nothing like that. I fly. I do a lot of flying.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Okay. A little while back, I fly into town and I go up to get my rental car. And, wow, the young lady behind the rental car kiosk, thing there. Her name was Samantha. Not Sam, not Sammy. Samantha. You got a name tag on. That make a big difference to you? Why is that so important? It fits.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Her whole look. She was so impeccably dressed in her little uniform. She looks like a Samantha. She was impeccably dressed in like a green polo? Yeah. A nice, like, a suit kind of thing on. Very professional. Very attractive.
Starting point is 00:26:04 All right. I'm starting to do the transaction, and she's trying to push the insurance on me. And I'm like, come on, Samantha. I don't need the insurance. What part of town do you think I'm going to be driving through here? Oh, come on. What? I don't buy the insurance.
Starting point is 00:26:21 No, I don't get the insurance. If you pay on your credit card, your credit card often has rental car insurance. Just a hot deal. Exactly. There's all kinds of things like that. But, you know, she's doing her job, and I'm making her laugh. And, you know, we're having a nice conversation. Fortunately, there really wasn't anybody else around.
Starting point is 00:26:37 It wasn't like it was busy. So we had time to talk and everything. We were really, really hitting it off. That's pretty wild because she deals with people all day long. Like, could you tell there was a difference between her just being nice and doing your job? Or they're being going in line so she has to talk. Yeah. I feel like with the insurance line, she may have been hitting on you.
Starting point is 00:26:56 Oh. I don't think they offer that to all the customers. Well, they do, just $6 line around, big boy. So clearly, whatever you were saying, was working on her. Or you thought it was working on her. Well, I mean, I'm assuming that a date came out of it. Well, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:11 Well, you know, you can tell when someone's just being professionally nice and there seems to be something else. And it looked like we were really hitting it off. So I told her, I'm like, look, I'm just going to be here for two days. Not to be too forward, but I'd really like to take you out for dinner tonight if you were available. Oh, okay. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:27:29 Did she freak out and around? I don't think girls are used to getting ass faces. She can't. She's on the job. Oh, that's right. She's stopped. What did she say? Well, she agreed to it.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Oh, cute. Good. So you weren't, like, mistaken. She was flirting. Good job. Where did you guys go? So I took her, one of those chain, it was like an apple bees or something. I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Something by the airport. Yeah. Well, no, it was a little bit away from there and everything. And I don't need to go to a fancy place to have a good time or anything like that. It was I just wanted to enjoy your company. Okay. How was it? We had a nice dinner and we.
Starting point is 00:28:05 talked and for such a stunningly beautiful woman, she was very down to earth and she was talking to me how she was like in the process of developing and planning and putting all together. She wants to open up her own hair salon and then build it into a chain. She was a very, very impressive person. Wow, I love that, bro. So this all sounds so good. Yeah, she sounds like a catch. She was, definitely she is.
Starting point is 00:28:31 So we ended that night, you know, I'm, I'm a. very respectful guy. I didn't try, you know, moving in too fast on her. So just gave her a little hug, said, you know, it was a pleasure going out with you tonight. If I'm back in the area, can I give you a call? And she said, sure, no problem. Do you travel to her area a lot for business? Oh, yeah, all the time. Oh, that's great. Okay, that's convenient. And that's the thing. So a couple weeks later, I'm back in town. And I texted her a few more times. She didn't get back to me. I called her a few more times, straight to voicemail. So I don't know what's going on with her.
Starting point is 00:29:09 You definitely did a lot to reach out just there. If you travel there all the time, do you typically hit on women at the rental car places? Maybe you have a reputation around like the rental industry. It's not like I was flagged or anything. Okay. Samantha, you said she was special. There's a reason that you really focused in on her. Well, first, obviously, let's be honest, the physical look.
Starting point is 00:29:33 of her were stunning. Yeah, you've mentioned them like three or four times. She's absolutely gorgeous, but what was really attractive about her was she was focused on building a business. Right. And it just seemed like somebody that, you know, I could really relate to because, you know, that's the type of my business too in a way, you know. Cool.
Starting point is 00:29:53 That's cool. You know, I would date more, but I'm like never in one place for more than a couple of days. But, you know, with her circumstance, it just seemed she just, There was something about her. So I was like, you know what? Let me move forward with this and see what happens. So she's into hair. Maybe she gave herself a bad haircut and she's hiding.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Oh, she's been there. She's waiting it out. Yeah. Or maybe she's looking for something that's more like in one place firmly and solid. Yeah. But that doesn't mean there's not hope. We're going to come back and try to come. Carcanova.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I was going to say Rico Suave. Rebo Suave. Oh, I like that too. It gets like cars. Yeah. Okay. whatever you, Rico Suave, your hurts hunk, we're going to make it happen
Starting point is 00:30:36 with your second date update right after this. Second date update. After you rent a car, you're supposed to return the keys to the vehicle. Yes. But our listener Marshall didn't just do that. He handed over the keys to his heart.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Aw, Jeffrey, that's a tagline for a rental rom-com. It is a rental rom-com. It's so cute. But we're in the middle part where it's a little bit confusing because he didn't get those keys. back after he hit it off with the cute rent-a-car girl named Samantha. Oh man. Not Sammy, not Sam. This was important to him.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Samantha. Oh, yeah. And she's stunning. Stunning. Not cute. So stunning that even though he was only in town for a couple days, he asked her out, took her to dinner, and said he'd love to see her again as soon as he flies back. But that second meetup hasn't happened and Marshall doesn't know why. So Brooke, what's your theory? Why isn't this happening yet? I think it's just because you're in two different cities. Like even though you've visit. Like, she has her own life, her own world. You know, who knows? Like, she got back together with an ex or she's off the dating
Starting point is 00:31:40 market, totally. It's a good point, Marshall. Are you willing to move right now just for her? For a second date? Come on, yeah, that's clingy. I don't think she'd want that either. Well, that seems to be Brooke's main concern. I'm just, wow. I'm there every couple of weeks. It's almost like I did move there. Yeah. I bet your hotel, like, all knows your name. Okay. And that is more than Brooke hangs out with her husband now. So maybe this is good. I mean, you're already in a relationship.
Starting point is 00:32:05 But let's find out. I'd love to talk to this Samantha woman. See if she sounds as beautiful as she looks. Oh, can you? She picks up, oh, my name is Samantha. I feel like we don't sound as ugly as we look. I'm going to rate her as soon as she picks up the phone if she does. Just give us a number zero to ten, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Let's see if she answers. And hopefully figure out what's going on. I'm dialing her number right now. Here we go. Hello? You 10. I was going 9.5. What?
Starting point is 00:32:39 You're going to throw a number out there. Okay. Samantha? Yeah, Susan. Hey, Samantha. Messing around. Yeah, we're a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Hi, good morning. We would love to welcome you into our arms. Into our arms. Jump in here where all of our arms are extended. What happened to you? It's a cottle puddle. It's the 9.5. It threw me off my game.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Like, oh, you don't know how to talk to girls. Okay, I guess that's cool. I'm on the radio. What's up, guys? Yeah, you're on the radio because we're doing a segment here called a second date update with one of our listeners named Marshall, who apparently you got to know pretty well the other day. Oh, that was actually a few weeks ago. He reached out to you guys? Well, it's your fault because apparently you left quite the impression when you two met at the rent-a-car place.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Yeah, Mrs. Pretty Pants. Seriously, this guy could not stop talking about how amazing you are in every way. Yeah, it's cute. He had nice things to say. Yeah. Okay. That's nice, I guess. You guess.
Starting point is 00:33:43 It doesn't sound like you feel the same bad. Nice is a good start. We were hoping to get a little bit more from you to figure out if there was a chance maybe you and Marshall were going to see each other again. Yeah. What are your thoughts on that? Honestly, guys, I just really kind of like get asked out. kind of often, you know.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Is that the problem? You go out on too many dates and you're just keeping your options open? No, see, it's not even that because I usually don't even like say yes very much. Oh, my God. Oh, really? Really? Like, Marshall, I checked him out. He was like really well dressed and he had this really nice scent to him.
Starting point is 00:34:22 You know, I don't know if it was an Armani or something, but it smelled really good. Okay. So wait, he was like special and you said yes to him. Like, yeah, he, like, stood out to me in the way he, like, you know, held himself. So why is it? This sounds great. It's a positive review. Like, why won't you see him at least one more time?
Starting point is 00:34:41 Oh, because, like, I just up for this whole thing and he took me on some, like, kids high school date, you know? Wait. What? Where'd you guys go? He said that he said that it was like a chain restaurant that he took you to. Is that? Yeah, I just wasn't impressed. Like, it just really wasn't engaging.
Starting point is 00:34:58 One, he's not from your town. and two, like, he was only there for two days. Like, it's just a quick date. Like, it doesn't mean that he didn't have an amazing time. You always look up the menu in place before. Yeah, but, you know, it was a first date. It leaves a first impression. And if you're trying to impress a woman, especially, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:17 I'm kind of more high standards just so that I have so much plan for myself and my future, it just didn't impress me. It didn't give me, like, the feeling that he really saw my value. Wow. Oh, he spoke so highly of you. He was, like, proud of you. I'm proud of you because of him. I will go to a fast food burger place, and the guy brought coupons, right?
Starting point is 00:35:39 Still ended up dating him for, like, six months. But not all women are like you, Brooke. Some women have standards, like Samantha. So what you're saying, if I'm understanding what you're saying, he didn't put enough effort into the place that he chose for your date. so you read him as a low-value person. I mean, when you weren't like that, it doesn't sound so great. Well, I don't know what this says about his value going through a radio station to get this done.
Starting point is 00:36:09 But he is on the other line listening right now and wanting to speak with you. Oh, I was not aware of that. I was not told this. Yeah, I know. That's kind of on purpose. That's part of it. We're not sure you'd tell us if you knew, but he's there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Hi, Samantha. Honestly, like I was telling you, I'm like going 100 miles an hour all the time. I didn't really have any time to like make fancy reservations at a really nice place and didn't even cross my mind at the place you went to wasn't really acceptable to you. I appreciate you saying that, but it really came off as cheap, Marshall. Marshall's pretty direct guy. Maybe that's what you wanted to hear. Samantha, are you, like, you're saying that you didn't like the mozzarella sticks?
Starting point is 00:36:57 Oh. Hey, mozzarella's fancy cheese. That is kind of fancy, yeah. I mean, it's not cheddar. I mean, it's string cheese. You guys, it's string cheese fried. No, bro. Don't say that.
Starting point is 00:37:07 I'm not five years old, Marshall. I'm not a kid. Okay. So, lay on mottes sticks. Let them talk. Well, Samantha, there's probably something you should know. I did not bring this up. But, oh, some years ago, I was.
Starting point is 00:37:23 was able to swing a very, very lucrative deal, I basically, you know, created the eBay of Germany and did really, really, really well with it. Auto Bay. You really didn't mention anything like that while we were eating. Well, I mean, that's all I do all day is talk business and things like that. And I didn't want to do that with you. And I wanted to learn about you. It didn't matter to me where we were eating.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Actually kind of sweet when he says it like that But we're adults, Marshall, and where I spend my time And my future is very important to me Okay Well, I wanted you to like me for me And not because I'm worth multi-millions of dollars Multi-Millions of dollars Maybe this worked out the way it should have
Starting point is 00:38:10 Wait, hold on, did you say multi-multe, meaning like a lot Multimillion? Well, Samantha isn't shallow and doesn't care about stuff like that She did reject him already. That's why he brought it up. Yeah. He didn't bring it up because he... Samantha, you're not going to change your mind about a guy just because he's a multi-millionaire.
Starting point is 00:38:30 I mean, no. But he's been very sweet this whole time, even in, like, my wrong opinions of him. Oh. Oh. Oh, she admitted she was wrong. All of a sudden, now his sweetness comes to, comes to light. Marshall, what's your last name? I want to Google your net worth.
Starting point is 00:38:46 It feels like Marshall is okay with that, though, because, like, why would Marshall? So why would you bring it up if you didn't, you know, like... Well, she wasn't interested with me when we went to a basic chain restaurant, so I just want her to know what she's really missing out on. Marshall, that's so catty of you. I love it. Me too. Yeah, everyone doesn't appreciate Montreal sticks deserves that.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Multi-millionaire clap back. Hold on, so now you're not interested anymore, Marshall? Yeah, you were calling for a second date, right? No, I don't... Well, Samantha, you just said that you weren't interested because he doesn't... value enough. Yeah, I thought you both aren't interested. Well, he just, in his actions, he didn't show me that, but now he said he's capable of showing me that. Oh. Well, it sounds to me like Samantha has had a 180. It is now on board 100%. Yeah, he
Starting point is 00:39:36 definitely changed my mind. Wow. All right. Well, it's a yes from Samantha. It's a miracle. Marshall, we are going to send you guys out on another date and we're going to pay for that. Not that you needed, but we'll do it. Um, no, I don't like the backpedaling. I'm not interested, guys. Thank you. Wait. In the gift card? We just did all of this convincing for you. You know, you guys, you really did help me quite a bit because you were able to get out the real Samantha, and that really helped me make this decision. Oh, my gosh. A man with morals, too. You are missing out. Kicking yourself, Samantha.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Is the real Samantha want to say anything back to that? You know what, it's fine, because you'll never find out what I'm really worth anyway. Oh, you're missing out again. You're a secret multi-millionaire too? No, she's a billionaire. Textboard is blowing up with people who want a shot. So many bad millionaires on the text board. They have to get in line behind us.

Starting point is 00:42:15 Yeah. And that's why I liked Marshall. He just threw out his multi-millions to prove a point. Not to get anything. He really did. I'm sure he's not going to be hitting us up for any of the numbers that we're getting on the text board right now. Also, Brooke made a point.
Starting point is 00:42:30 Do we know he's really rich or is he just saying that because it sounded amazing? It might be. But what's funny is we taped that a few days ago and Marshall sent us an email to our producer saying that she immediately texted him after the call. saying she was sorry asking when he got back in town next so they could hang out. That's awful. Oh, God, it's so funny. It really is.
