Thanks for being here on your double classic Saturday. We appreciate it. We've got back-to-back
Starting point is 00:02:51 for you. So a little bit longer to get your chores done or whatever you're doing, running your errands, doing your Saturday things. Oh, yeah. Well, you know what Eloise is doing in the comments? What? El-Owees says, I'm currently locked out of my room trying to unlock it. I've basically given up, but I'm in a fight with my brother, so I have to guard the door and make sure he doesn't try to unlock in. I see. Thanks for keeping me company. Okay. There it is. Take that brother down. Alexis knows she's got two brothers.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Oh yeah, you got to push that door tight. Hold it. Yeah. All right, your classics, start right now. Movies and TV shows love a good surprise cameo from a well-known character. Oh, yeah. And then the studio audience has to erupt? Totally. Like, you know how it
Starting point is 00:03:32 works. Like, you see them all the main characters. Maybe they're at a diner. One of them accidentally bumps another patron at the counter. Uh-oh. They turn around and it's Chewbacca eating soup? No, I'm not going to do the impression.
Starting point is 00:03:46 You are not going to sit there. Do it, Jose. Fine. And then he'd get sick and throws off. It's hilarious. Guaranteed crowd pleaser. The studio audience loved it. And if it works that well on the big screen,
Starting point is 00:04:03 why wouldn't that same idea work in real life? Because the dude on the phone today decided he wanted to surprise his date with an unexpected guest appearance during their dinner. And it was definitely a shock. I hope it was not Chewbacca. Not Chewbacca, but you will hear who it was in your second date update. Next.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. We get a lot of people on this segment who tell us, I've heard you do these before. I never thought I'd actually be calling in for a second date update myself. It probably does feel like some sort of out-of-body experience. Yeah. But they'll admit, they'll say,
Starting point is 00:04:41 Like, I'm a huge fan, and I've heard all the previous calls, and Jeff are even more handsome than you sound on the radio. We don't get that comment. Get a lot of that stuff. But not today. Today's caller was very honest in his email, admitting he's not a fan. In fact, never really listened to our show before. Why are we letting him on that?
Starting point is 00:05:03 Other people in his social circle, though, encouraged him to reach out for help with his dating life, so he thought he'd give it a try. Okay. His name is Chris. Chris, I don't know if you realize what you're getting yourself into here, man. See, I was just thinking, Jeff, his friends must be idiots. Yeah. Or setting them up as a big inside joke.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Yeah. Do you have idiot friends, Chris? I don't think so. Okay, you really don't listen to the show. He didn't say no. This is going to be fun. Since you haven't heard how we do these, we'll just start off by asking, what's the name of the lucky lady that you're wanting us to call today?
Starting point is 00:05:38 Bella Bella Okay Beautiful Yes Italian Beautiful So how did you meet Bella So online
Starting point is 00:05:47 You know Okay Dating apps Sweet Are you interested in Bella's Like right now And maybe it's just because you're nervous Like
Starting point is 00:05:54 He's never heard the show Emotions are real low Oh No she's She's really nice And pretty Is these wrong be Brooksie
Starting point is 00:06:04 Yeah brooks Sometimes Sometimes guys are more of like internal joy feelers rather than like showing all of their emotions on the outside and crying at every opportunity like some of us do. It's why I ask the question. That's good
Starting point is 00:06:18 to ask. So tell us, what did you and Bella do for a date? Well, we went to this Mexican restaurant. Okay. And what was the moment like when you first saw each other in person? Hold on, I'll think.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Okay. Hold on. He's busy. What? Do we air this part? Are you there? Chris? It was very sweet. It was sweet.
Starting point is 00:06:45 To see you in person. Are we interrupting something right now? Yeah. No, you have my full attention. You did ask us to just wait for a second while you did something. Yeah. Let's keep going. Tell us about how dinner went at the Mexican place.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Like the connection. Or if that's what you did, we just want to learn more about your date, man. What do you mean? That's what I did. I'm saying, did you eat? Do we have to ask one question? Can we just call it? Pretend like you're talking to your friends
Starting point is 00:07:12 and they're wanting to recap of your night. Yeah. What did you tell them? What were the highlights? Tacos, we kissed, we went on a walk, like... I had a cheese cassidia. No. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Did you order for the kids' minutes? No, it was a full-sized one. Okay, good, nice. What did you two talk about? We talked about, you know, like pop culture and, like, news and, like, like our interests and her interests. Okay. So you're big into pop culture.
Starting point is 00:07:40 No. No, but the topic did come up and I had to suffer through that for a little bit. Did you feel like it was a natural flow of convo? Hold on. Did you say hold on again? I think so. Hey, Chris, who are you talking? It was pretty good.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Sorry, man. Who are you talking to? I'm distracted. Oh, my mom's here with me. Oh. Oh. Take a long. We said hi.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Hi, mom. Why are you talking to your mom in the middle of this? Well, she is a big fan of the show. Oh, she is. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, she sent the email for me. Oh. Oh, she did it for you.
Starting point is 00:08:17 What a nice thing. Hey, I like when my mom does my stuff for me too. That's good. My appointments. Okay. Now I've forgotten what we were asking. Well, can we get to, like, how it ended? Was there any romance, like a kiss or a hug?
Starting point is 00:08:27 Just any big moment that stood out to you. There you go. Yeah. When I went to the bathroom and came back, they were chatting it up, like, crazy. They really, they really hit it all. Wait, who's they, Chris? Bella and my mom. Your mom was on the date?
Starting point is 00:08:43 Yeah, my mom was on the date with us. Oh, no. Did you tell Bella before you showed up to the restaurant that your mom was coming along? No. Chris. Problem solved. Chris, this is absolutely the reason that Bella isn't calling you back. You think so?
Starting point is 00:09:01 Yes. Yes. No one wants to date somebody's mom. Chris, what's the reason that you brought your mom along with you on the date? To keep me safe from any bad women. Bad women? She pulls a knife on you. Mom's right there. That's true. Don't want to be taken advantage of either on a date by a woman.
Starting point is 00:09:21 But still, can you paint that picture? Like, what is she going to do in the middle of the day? Just be like, I don't like her. My mom does like Bella. Okay. She says that she doesn't dress sleazily. Oh. That's good.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Wow. Sounds like it's a rare thing for the women. Tell your mom she shouldn't comment on women's clothes. She thinks she says he's dressed really nicely. That's not what she said. He could have interpreted it differently. Let's give him a little bit of grace here. His mom is standing over his shoulder while he's talking to a nationally syndicated show.
Starting point is 00:09:52 A lot of nerves here, a lot of pressure. Chris, does your mom come along with everything for you? Like, if someone is to date you, is it always a package deal? I mean, yeah, unless she said otherwise. Unless who says otherwise? My mom. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Are we going to ask how old you are? I think we know you're an adult, right? I'm 32. 32. Nice. This is going to be a little complicated. Maybe let's just fast forward to calling Bella here. Oh, I thought we're going to be so surprised on her answer of why she's not calling that.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I think we will. Mom is probably going to be the most surprised of anybody. Oh, he's going to be shocking. So make sure you put it on speaker when we dial up Bella and try and get you your very first radio experience on Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Don't get too excited. This is a big. big deal, dude. My mom's like super pumped. Okay. So are we.
Starting point is 00:10:40 We're going to do it right after this. Hold on. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. If you're just joining us, this is pretty exciting. Okay. Because in a way, we're doing our very first three-way second date update. I say it like that. The three people being our caller, Chris, two, his date, Bella. And the third is Chris's mom.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Oh, no. You can not say Chris's mom with sexy music in the background. It's not right. You're reading this is sexy music. Okay. That's your own brain interpreting it that way. But Chris's mom not only tagged along on their dinner date, but it's actually with Chris right now, next to him quietly listening. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:21 And sometimes answering questions for him when Chris can't remember. But it is nice. It's nice to have a wing woman there able to do ride or die with you, be your support system. Yeah. What was her reaction? We never asked when she got to the table and your mom's. sitting there? I think she was fine with it.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Well, that's her the same question. Clearly, Chris and his mother don't believe that's the reason why. So, Chris, what's your mom's guess for why Bella's acting a fool right now? I don't know. Hold on. Is he, like, sitting on her lap? Hold on, guys. She's writing something.
Starting point is 00:11:59 She's writing the answer? Do you tell her to write a little bit faster because we are on a time limit for the segment? Just give her a minute. So we are cat people, and she might be more of a dog person. That could be a thing. The good news is we're about to find out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Well, hopefully, because that's if she picks up the phone. Because we're going to dial her number right now. I'm praying that Bella has really good news for us. This is all a misunderstanding, and she cannot wait to hang out with you and your mom again. Chris? What? He was talking to his mom. His mom was combing his hair.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Call Bella, Jeff. Okay, here we go. I'm going to dial her right now. Let's see if she picks up. Hey, is this Bella? Yes. Who's speaking? Hey, you're speaking to a whole morning show
Starting point is 00:12:56 called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hey, Bella. Hi, good morning. You're on the radio right now. Hi. Good morning, beautiful. I always say it because it's your name. Get it, Bella.
Starting point is 00:13:07 So the reason that we're reaching out to you, Bella, is we're doing a segment. It's called a Second Date Update. I don't know if you're familiar with that. Oh, no. Oh, dear. Oh, no. Don't be afraid.
Starting point is 00:13:20 It's a good thing because a guy named Chris has reached out to our show asking us if we could get a hold of you. Oh. Oh, of course he did. Mm-hmm. What do you mean, of course? Do you mean because he's getting help? It just makes a lot of sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:37 I mean, it definitely, when we heard from Chris, it sounded like you two went on a very unique date. Yes, that's a nice way to put it. For the record, both him and his mom have been texting me. Oh, man. Group chatter. We did hear that the mom was there. I would love to hear your description of showing up to the Mexican restaurant. So it started off with just me and him at a table.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Oh, it did start with just you and him. His mom wasn't there immediately? Well, she kept coming up to the table. I thought she was like a server or, like, like a busher or someone because she kept coming up and like checking in on us and then like the third time she just sat down with us. That is so strange. Like I just, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:14:30 I just thought that he was more upfront with the whole thing. I know he didn't tell you before the date, but. My read on it is that he was a little bit awkward, somewhat nervous and just genuinely wasn't sure how to introduce her. Yeah. I mean, maybe he's a person who needs help. social situation. Yeah, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:14:48 And it's nice of you to give him grace in that scenario. So once you found out that it was his mom and she was going to be joining you for the date, how did the rest of it go? He was pretty quiet the whole time and his mom filled in the spaces and answered for him when I would ask questions. I mean, don't get me wrong. She's a lovely, lovely woman, truly, but maybe a little overprotective. So do you think, I mean, do you think it would have been.
Starting point is 00:15:16 better if she would have just stayed pretending to be a server and let him and let him just date. He just, she shouldn't have been there. In my opinion, you know, he's 32 and I think it's time that he sits through a date by himself. And I think he's nice, but it was just too awkward. I could see what you're saying there. But have you ever considered that maybe Chris is such an amazing guy that his mom is being protective because she wants the best possible match for him. Jeff is saying this because he has a mom a lot like Chris's mom.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Yeah, some of our mothers love us. And I can't believe that's used as something that people hold against. Jeff's mom thinks I'm amazing too. Jeff's mom would love to go on dates with him. Oh, yeah. But I'm not talking about Jeff's mom. I'm talking about Chris's mom and actually Chris himself, who is on the other line right now listening to this conversation.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Oh, oh my gosh. How's my gosh. Oh, hi. Why are you doing this? It was my mom's idea. No. She does listen to our show, so. I didn't realize you were uncomfortable. I'm sorry. None more uncomfortable than right now. If it makes you feel better, my mom is very picky and she approves a view.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Oh, that's not going to help. It's kind of a nice compliment to give to you. Well, thank you for that, but I would really prefer to know what you think and not what your mom thinks. Oh, that is so well said. I mean, are you hearing her on that, Chris? This is a good opportunity, Chris, to speak from the heart. Yeah. I agree with my mom.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Okay. Oh, okay. They're on the same page. They both think that you're a really cool person, Bella. Chris, can I just ask you, what was up with the whole service? bit with your mom. Yeah. Yeah, well, we do that
Starting point is 00:17:18 every time. We don't want to, like, we want it to be like a surprise. Oh, you do this a lot with your mom? Oh, well, like, not a lot, but the few dates that I do get. Chris, you're saying that you've done this with other ladies before.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Yeah. Do they stay for the date? Or have they left? What has happened in the past? Well, one of them wanted to get married, but she was way too overbearing, so we had to let her go. We had to let her go. Wait, you had a proposal?
Starting point is 00:17:52 Well, yeah, she didn't live in this country, and a lot of it was on video. Oh. Oh, wow. She was really eager to get over here and tie the knot with you. Chris and Chris's mom, don't fall for that. Yeah. Sounded like a romantic story. No, we learned our listening.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Okay, that's good. There we go. That's good. So now he's moved on. He's put all those other women that want him aside. because right now you're in the spotlight. It should be kind of flattering. Yeah, I'm flattered and a little, I feel very awkward.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Yeah. I feel like I'm dating you and your mom and not just you. Okay. Would it be better if you brought your mom on a date or your dad on a date? No. Is anyone hearing what Belize needs? Yes, but Bella is trying to suggest it sounds like Chris is maybe the two of you go on a one-on-one date and you leave your mom at home for this one.
Starting point is 00:18:44 What? That is definitely not what I'm suggesting. Oh, okay. Well, then I misread it. I'm not sure what you're suggesting. I'm suggesting that for Chris, you should do more of those. Maybe, Chris, if you don't feel safe on a date, I think that's valid. Maybe your mom can wait in a car or in the parking lot.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Like, just not come inside the restaurant. Oh, yeah, that's a good idea. Okay, that's kind of nice. A black security shirt. You can buy them on Amazon. You've got a door. Stop. My mom laughed at that she liked how much.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Oh, nice work, Jose. All right, buddy. Okay. All right. Sounds like. So this may be completely fruitless, but I do have to ask, Bella, would you be willing to go out on another date with just Chris and we would pay for it? No mom?
Starting point is 00:19:28 Maybe just even as friends. Oh. Get to know each other a little more, like the real Chris. No, thank you. I... Keep in mind. His mom is listening to this entire conversation. So what you say, his mom is hearing.
Starting point is 00:19:41 She's well aware. Well, I'll say to both of them that since we both have history with each other, I just think that that would cloud this next interaction. My mom isn't a fan of your response. Oh, wow. Bella, you got on Chris's mom's bad side now. Not good. You better expect some angry texts from her later on after this is over. I'll be ready for them.
Starting point is 00:20:05 I'm just going to suggest maybe blocking that number. Yeah. All right. Well, Chris, man, I appreciate. Yeah. Man, I appreciate you taking a chance, reaching out to our show, even if your mom did it for you and being on with us, giving it a shot. That was really brave. It was a big first step for you.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Yeah. Maybe next step is you have dinner with a woman without your mom there. Maybe you can bring Brooke along with you on the date and show wing man for you. Oh, yeah. Do you want to come? No. That'd be cool. No, I'm good.
Starting point is 00:20:32 His mom would not like Brooke. Yeah. Not a fan. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Okay, I have a trick for knowing whether a chocolate chip cookie is going to be incredible. It is based solely on whether or not there's a touch of salt on the top. Oh, the salty and sweet. You just can't go wrong.
Starting point is 00:20:52 It is the best flavor combo out there. Okay, well, maybe the best flavor combo is salty, sweet, and nutritious. Because I've got you covered with that with Kachava's new salted caramel. I mean, honestly, it satisfies your salty sweet cravings while totally supporting whole body nutrition. It just one delicious simple shake. You do two scoops and let me tell you, they're covered. protein, fiber and greens, and so much more. That's your house asking for better internet. Switch to Bell Pure Fiber,
Starting point is 00:21:53 Canada's most reliable internet awarded by Open Signal from $75 a month. Price guaranteed for two years on a two-year term and auto pay credit. Visit bell.ca for more details and to check availability. Bell, connection is everything. You know, it's funny.
Starting point is 00:22:13 A lot of us are laughing or even cringing at the idea of having your mom join you on a first date. Yeah. But I don't know. I could definitely see Brooks sitting down with her son Alder on his very first date. Oh my God. And then immediately admonished the girl for not dressing sleazily enough. Enough, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:33 My son deserves to see skin, missy. Look at him in his sad little eyes. I don't see any cleavage on you, young lady. Mama, I'm not seeing enough cleavage on me. Oh, there, there, sweetie. Let me hug you tightly into mine. Oh, wow. Brooke, you're a good mom. There is a running joke in my house that if I have to keep cutting their steak and stuff up for them,
Starting point is 00:22:53 then I'm going to have to accompany them on a date, so they better figure it out soon. So you're going to be teaching his date how to cook steak for him. No, cut it up. Yeah. Yes. So look out, Brooke. Judge not lest you be judged in like six to seven. No, how long, how old?
Starting point is 00:23:09 A long time. A long time? Yeah. I bet he's going to be an early bloomer. Forty years. Wow. Well, we'll see. Healthy.
Starting point is 00:23:16 That's a lot of time for people to go online and check out all of our second date updates. Wherever you get your podcast, they're up at Brooke and Jeffrey. At this point, I'm used to getting blamed for other people's problems. Oh. You are. Like, Jeff, it's your fault our show is number one right now. Oh, you must feel so bad. Jeff, you made me laugh so hard.
Starting point is 00:23:42 I wet myself in my Tesla. Oh, what you did? Not the Tesla. Jeff, you're so hamilton. I only think of you when I make love to my wife. Oh, wow. Sorry, Dad, but you're making his father's day phone call really awkward. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:58 And I'm going to be honest. I don't feel bad about it. Wow, you should about that last one. I don't. Don't feel any remorse. But I do think everyone in this room owes the guy on the phone an apology today. Because he says he got inspiration for a first date just from listening to this show. And it backfired on him in the worst way possible.
Starting point is 00:24:21 It's all my fault again. You're going to hear what happened in your second date update. Next. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. One thing that we've learned doing thousands of these phone calls is trying harder on a date doesn't guarantee you're going to get good results. No. Sometimes guarantees you'll get bad.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Yeah. Sometimes trying is the key to failing. Yeah. And that's what one of our listeners, Jimmy, said, happened the other night. He tried, and now he regrets ever doing that. Oh, Jimmy. Welcome to Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning where dreams go to die. How are you doing to die?
Starting point is 00:25:00 Say it again, Jeff. We're putting it on our website. Jimmy, welcome, man. Thanks, thanks. Hopefully my dream doesn't die here. Give me a shot. I have faith in you, brother. Yeah, I want to hear about your trying, Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Yeah. Sounds like you went in with hopeful attitude on this. date? Who did you try for? What's her name? Her name's Erica. She's really nice. She's super cute. What about her made you want to try? We just, a lot of the things we were looking for happened to line up. I mean, obviously for me, it starts number one. Like, am I attracted to you or not? So there was that. And then all this stuff just happened to match up. You want to be attracted to the people that you date? Weird. I know. I know it's crazy. Okay. If that's the strategy you want to go with, good luck. Wow. So shallow.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Oh, that's good. Okay. So what you said you tried? What does that mean? What did you do? That was above and beyond. So I kind of blame you guys. I listen to you guys and I hear all these stories about people like trying something different.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Like, oh, we didn't just go to like dinner in a movie. We did this weird thing. We went like sky dinner. Do you ever listen to the end of those? It probably turns us off after two minutes like most people. He's like, that sounds like a great idea. Do you realize by they're calling us? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:15 So what was your big? creative idea for a date. Okay, so first of all, we met her to food truck. And I was like, I got a surprise for you. Oh. So we walked a few blocks to a psychic. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Did you know if she, I mean, some people have some real strong opinions about this type of stuff. Yeah, I guess so. I mean, I don't know. I just thought it would be a fun thing. My friend had gone to them and they had a good time. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:44 I always want to walk in when I see those. I think that they're more expensive than I want to pay, though. But on a date, if he's paying? What did the fortune teller do? Did they look in like a crystal ball, or did they open up like a fortune cookie and read it to you? No, no. It was a tarot card thing. Oh, tarot card reading.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Okay. Like, a lot of my lady friends are really into that, too. So I thought maybe it might be. So what was her attitude when you told her about the surprise? She was, like, she was surprised. She was smiling and thought it was going to be fun, I thought. So I had no reason to be concerned. You say that it didn't work out for you.
Starting point is 00:27:19 What happened? Right. Well, okay. So they, you know, reading the future. And like the big takeaway at the end was that Erica and I were going to be a really, really, really, really bad match. Did Erica, what did she say? She left.
Starting point is 00:27:39 She left? She just agreed with the psychic? It's hard not to believe that was like a little. Like, I feel like. I mean, you know, sometimes. those people also like sent something else that's going on. Are you allowed to ask why? Like, are you allowed to say why?
Starting point is 00:27:53 Why aren't we a good match? Sounds good to me. I wasn't particularly interested in like her... Did you offer to fight them? No, no. I'm a great guy. I will beat you on right now. What do you mean we're not a perfect match?
Starting point is 00:28:10 So wait, Erica just like dashed out? No, no, no. She's not like, I'm leaving. And she was like laughing and it was. laughing and it was awkward and she was like I gotta go outside. Oh, okay. And I was like, okay, but I'm gonna stay in here because I gotta, like, I'm just gonna try to get my money back
Starting point is 00:28:24 right? Oh, is that what you did? No. You got her free one on your 40s? Now it looks cheap. It's a, it's a tarot card reading, not a wingman situation. You know, I'm not on a date? Like, we're there to have a good time. And then, like, you're gonna give me that?
Starting point is 00:28:39 Like, you might as well say like, oh, no, you better go home right now. Your dog's gonna die. Well, it's what this card is. Yeah. Yeah. Like, you needed to get the dishonest psychic down the road. Yeah. You're just too good.
Starting point is 00:28:50 How much I got to pay you to tell this girl to sleep with? Yeah, exactly. It's like you guys said. I was like, what is this? She was like, sorry, the cards don't lie. And I'm like, maybe you could make them lie for this. Oh. I mean, most of them don't know tarot cards.
Starting point is 00:29:05 You could tell me anything. It'd be like, oh, this is the Joker, but it's upside down. Well, they always going like, this is the 13th moon of Geneva. Yeah. It's like, I don't know what that. I mean, I'm like, cool. It sounds like Erica was laughing. Like, it doesn't sound like she was actually upset about it.
Starting point is 00:29:21 But she sounds like she stormed out of the building. He said she was laughing. She said, I'll meet you outside. Did you meet up with her after that? Yeah. She actually came back in to get me out of there. Oh, so she was not happy. Oh, wait.
Starting point is 00:29:32 So you were arguing with the psychic over money, and then Erica had to come back in and pull you out. Yeah. Why are we worried about the card? That is way worse. Yeah. That is so bad. See, this is one.
Starting point is 00:29:44 I'm saying, this guy is not cool. Yeah. I think that's your bad look. And again, bad look. Doesn't mean you're a bad person. Doesn't mean you don't match. But I could see why that image isn't good. So how did this date end?
Starting point is 00:29:57 I mean, we had a drink, but it was super awkward. And then that was it. And it was over. You don't want to stick with the cards and just let this lie? No, no. I would love a second chance. I would love that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Do you have any tarot card? Should we make us a tarot card reading? Do you have any training in this? No, I just have. some crystal balls that you got to rub. No, no, those are different. Why are they crystal? Why do you have two of them?
Starting point is 00:30:22 Because we start rubbing them now before we call Erica for you. Let's just like do the normal way. I'm sorry I ask. Okay. Yeah, please don't rub the crystal balls. We'll do it with the old fashion. Give her a call, see what she has to say. There you go. Oh, I predict it's going to turn out great. Yeah. That's our psychic prediction.
Starting point is 00:30:39 Positive energy. We're going to come back and do it with your second date update right after this. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. You've probably been out on a first date where a total stranger comes up and just randomly says, you two make such a cute couple.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Aw. That is such a nice moment. Yeah. That happens sometimes. But probably not a lot of daters have experienced somebody saying, wow, you two look like a terrible match. Even if a lot of people are thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Nobody actually says it. You're with them? I know Brooks' uncle said that to her one. It's about her cousin because they looked too similar. You're so dumb. I did not date my cousin. Because your uncle wouldn't allow it. And that was smart of him.
Starting point is 00:31:23 But most of the time, you don't get the kiss of death via tarot card on the first date. Unfortunately, that's what happened with one of our listeners, Jimmy, where the psychic literally looked at the cards and said, ooh, this relationship is doomed. Oh, man. I mean, it is a bad tone for the rest of the night. Yeah. But we're coming in with a sloth.
Starting point is 00:31:43 a slightly more optimistic attitude when we call Erica for him here. Jimmy, how are you feeling right now? I'm feeling all right. Let's see, hopefully. Okay. Oh, man. You need to be more like, I don't know. I believe in my case.
Starting point is 00:31:58 There we go. You need to be more confident going into this. And Jeff was rubbing his crystal balls for you very extensively in between the break. He said it was going to help me. Yeah, what did you see in those? The outlook is good. Yeah. It's very good, Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:32:11 See? All positive vibes, brother. Something tells me that's not going to help. Oh, it helps. Trust me. But let's just call and see if that helps too, all right? We're going to call Erica. Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Hey, we're looking for Erica. This is her. Hey, Erica. We're a morning radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey, and that means you're on the radio right now. Hey, Erica. I'm Jeffrey, by the way. Oh, hi, everybody.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Hi. Congratulations. Big feature spot on our show today. Is that what we're calling? Maybe congratulations isn't quite the right word. But it might be if it turns out you are still interested in the guy you went out with the other night named Jimmy. What? I thought this was a prize giveaway.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Well, it is. And Jimmy is your prize. Yeah, nice one, Jeff. It's like a little teddy bear at the bottom of a claw machine. Get him. Okay, well, I'm going to exchange that price for something else. Oh, wow. But for like what, like a keychain?
Starting point is 00:33:24 Yikes. I don't know if we can do that. Why do you say that, though? I mean, we know you're not calling Jimmy back after your date. We're trying to help them figure out why. Okay, so this is, oh, my gosh, it was so crazy. I don't know what Jimmy told you guys. Oh.
Starting point is 00:33:39 But. We'd love to hear your version of the night. Yeah. It was horrific. Okay. Horrificantly. Let me rewind. Yes, please.
Starting point is 00:33:49 We went to a psychic. to read our future. Oh, yeah. What did you think when he, because he said that he surprised you with that, a tarot card reading. What was your initial thought on that? I thought it was weird and strange.
Starting point is 00:34:04 I was like, why are we going to see a psychic? But I was trying to be optimistic. So I was like, well, let me go with the flow. Yeah. I think that was his whole goal
Starting point is 00:34:14 is he was just trying to do something new. Unique. It wasn't something that he necessarily, like, believes, like, wholeheartedly in his soul. Yeah. It's just like one of those fun things. It's a risky activity to pick.
Starting point is 00:34:24 True. Because now we know that. Yeah, and it doesn't sound like it was something you were super comfortable with. Right. And it's crazy you said it was risky because when we got there, like, she was reading the cards. And all of a sudden, his one card came out and it was called like the three of one, the swords, three of swords. Three of swords? Yes, like three daggers through you or something like that.
Starting point is 00:34:48 Is that good or bad? Three swords sounds good to me. It was horrible. It was horrible? It was actually horrible. It meant like something about portrayal and heartbroken. Yikes. Oh, is that when the tarot card reader told you guys that you shouldn't be together?
Starting point is 00:35:06 Yeah, she actually said we were going to be like really bad for each other. But do you feel like maybe she was just a little bit jealous? She wanted a date with you. No. I honestly don't think she was jealous. I think she was actually. pretty legit because when we first met, like, I got there. I was all cute.
Starting point is 00:35:29 I was like, nice. And I saw Jimmy, I was like, hi. And I'm thinking we're about to eat together. But he said to me like, hey, I already ate. But, you know, if you want something, you can go get in a line. Oh, are you talking about at the food truck? Yes. Wait.
Starting point is 00:35:47 He said he took you to a food truck, meaning that you guys ate together. That was what we thought. You would assume that? Well, he ate, but I didn't. Oh my gosh. So he ate before you? Really? Before I even got there.
Starting point is 00:36:01 And, you know, I really thought it was so rude that he told me to just go get in line and go buy my own food, like, on a first date. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. But it also could be like a show of your independent woman. No, no, no, no. I respect your womanhood and you can support yourself. No.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Listen, if you're going to take me out on the date, you're going to. to feed me if I am not fed or at least weight in line with me seriously that is just that is super rude yeah I can't deny that yeah so I had this gut feeling but the tour reader she pretty much confirmed it to me
Starting point is 00:36:36 and even in there it was like I just rushed out of there and I hear him still arguing with her about giving his money back and I'm like plus you were hangary at the time too I mean all of it it doesn't help
Starting point is 00:36:51 Well, you don't know this, but I have a tarot deck out in front of me, and I just drew the three phone calls. Oh. Not the three microphones? No. Oh. No, I'm a pretty bad tarot reader. And one of the phones must be Jimmy on the other line wanting to talk to you. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Ooh. You're joking? Are you joking? No, I'm not joking. Jimmy, are there? Yeah, I'm here. Oh. Wow.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Wow, Jimmy. It didn't sound good. You have anything to say? I mean, the only thing I have to say is that I don't know what I did that was that bad. I mean, y'all would go like, ooh, the guy in the background's like, ha, ha, ha, and I'm like, what? Just because I didn't fire the food at the food truck? What? Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Jimmy, why aren't you starting with? I'm sorry. You don't see why, bro, that that would be a little upsetting to anybody on a date, like you ate without them? Upsetting. That's a really good food truck. You should be happy. Do you not no manners? Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:37:51 You didn't want to wait 15 minutes for her to get there so you could eat together? It's not a restaurant, guys. It's a food truck. You go in and go out whenever you want. We want it like a five-star restaurant. But why wouldn't you order food for Erica and have it like waiting there for her? If it's like your favorite food truck and you're like, you've got to try this. Like just order it for her.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Or the lines long. Because I use all my stupid money on the psychic, okay? Oh. Okay. It's not that you. Yeah. No wonder you wanted a refund. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:19 No, psychics aren't cheap either. He didn't spend money on her. That doesn't matter. No, I invited her to dinner first. Okay, but I actually didn't even invite her to dinner. I was just like, let's meet at the food truck because that was a place I know. Oh. So it's on Erica.
Starting point is 00:38:34 It's on Erica that she didn't understand. Yeah, see, Erica, he's not rude. He's just poor. Obviously, poor and bad manners. Yeah. When you tell me we're meeting at a food truck, I'm assuming that we're having dinner together. Yeah. It's like, hey, meet me at Olive Garden.
Starting point is 00:38:50 7 o'clock and then it's like, all right, where are you want to eat? What? I mean, I think that's a universal. All right, next time we go out then, can we meet 20 feet away from the food truck? I don't think that's how you solve your problem, my friend. Food truck adjacent? It does seem like if it's 20 feet away,
Starting point is 00:39:06 you don't have to eat. And I like how we started this whole thing about how Jimmy put in extra effort. Yeah, it kind of did, but it got lost. If you're willing to do that, Erica, then we would love to send you two out on a second date and pay for it. Yes. Yes. Absolutely. not. There would not be a second date. Oh, man. It sounds like Jimmy may
Starting point is 00:39:24 still need the gift card, though, Jeff. I don't know if he even wants it anymore. You know what? I bet if I went to that psychic again, I bet she would pull a teller card that tells me that I shouldn't have gone on that radio show because you guys have been no help at all. Oh, man. I wish someone else's fault. Suddenly now you're on the psychic side? I thought you were needed it.
Starting point is 00:39:45 I told you, Jeff, it was the three microphones. Jeffrey in the morning. Okay, I have a trick for knowing whether a chocolate chip cookie is going to be incredible. It is based solely on whether or not there's a touch of salt on the top. The salty and sweet, you just can't go wrong. It is the best flavor combo out there. Starting point is 00:41:17 Bell, connection is everything. All right. Well, obviously that guy was acting a little out of pocket, eating his dinner before his date even got there and then telling her if she's hungry, get in line and buy her own. Well, that's not apologizing after he heard it recap to himself. Yeah, yeah. You know? That was pretty heartless. Yeah. But I don't know about the argument that if you asked to meet up near something, then it's assumed that must be your date. He didn't say near. He said at the top at the food truck.
Starting point is 00:41:48 I think it's always assumed. Yes, absolutely. At the bowling alley, you assume you're going to go bowling. Yeah, or let's meet at the bar. We're going to get a drink, Jeff. Well, then I'm just glad that they didn't meet near a proctologist's office. Maybe I'm disappointed that they didn't meet in front of the proctologist office. I can't decide how I feel about it. That'd be the best or the worst thing.
Starting point is 00:42:09 It'd be a good date. Plus, health matters. Yeah, be a clean date. It's a date that they're never going to go on because we didn't get them a second date. But it just gave you an idea. It really did. I've got some reservations to book after this. He's texting.
