So what happened at Chappaquittic? Well, it really depends on who you talk to.
Starting point is 00:00:35 There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond. And left a woman behind to drown. Chappaquitic is a story of a tragic death and how the Kennedy machine took control. Every week, we go behind the headlines and beyond the drama of America's royal family. Listen to United States of Kennedys
Starting point is 00:00:56 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. The Super Secret Bestie Club podcast season four is here. And we're locked in. That means more juicy chisement. Terrible love advice. Evil spells to cast on your ex. No, no, no, no.

Starting point is 00:01:30 Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Everyone thinks they'd never join a cult.
Starting point is 00:02:07 But it happens all the time to people just like you. And people just like us. I'm Lola Blanc. And I'm Megan Elizabeth. We're the host of Trust Me, a podcast about cults, manipulation, and the psychology of belief. Each week we talk to fellow survivors, former believers, and experts to understand why people get pulled in and how they get out. Trust me, new episodes every Wednesday on exactly right. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:02:33 Hey, welcome to the Saturday classics. It's a double for a second date. Two for one. Two for one. A bogo. Oh, yeah, that's good. But you don't buy any of it. No, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Get one, get one free? That's right. We're good at marketing. It seems like people are really enjoying these because they've been doing really well on the podcast. Yeah, a lot of downloads, which is great. I love how shocked we always are. We put up some of our content. and you guys like it.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Weird. Crazy. That's humility, right? I think. All right, Alexis, what do you see in the comment section? Philippio said, I love listening to you guys,
Starting point is 00:03:09 and it's my relief when it's raining, and I have to walk my girlfriend's dog. But she's the one who made me discover this amazing podcast. My girlfriend, not the dog. Greetings from Ukraine. I hope there are dogs out there that are like, Ruffer, referee.
Starting point is 00:03:24 They only stop barking when the podcast is on. Yeah. And you're a good. boyfriend that you take one for the team and walk the dog in the rain. Seriously. That is nice. We like all this whole situation. Yep, you tell your girlfriend she owes you.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Alright, well, hey, thanks for being here so much, and we're going to start right now. There's a lot of things about our society that they deem normal, that if you think about it, are actually kind of strange. Okay. Like pillows and caskets. Why? I guess you're right, actually. What's that about? You don't want a stiff neck?
Starting point is 00:03:57 next. Oh, Brooke, it's already pretty stiff. Or recording a live concert on your phone that you're literally never going to watch ever again. I know, but it's so hard not to. And nobody else wants,
Starting point is 00:04:10 no one else wants to see it here. I know, it doesn't even sound good when it's, like, recorded. Leave it off your Insta stories, please. Or party balloons. What? Those are fun. Hey, here's a big sack of breath.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Enjoy. Bray. Creepy, if you ask me. Maybe if you dissect it. Well, today. One of our listeners today asked to defend a habit that she thinks is totally natural to her. And so much that she doesn't even think about it. And once we all heard what it was, the entire room gasped.
Starting point is 00:04:43 It was that shocking. You're going to hear what it is and see if you could look past it in your second date update. Next. Second date update. A woman named Cassie is on the phone with us today who said in her email, That sense of humor is something really important for her. Yeah. I feel like that should be for most people, right?
Starting point is 00:05:04 Not sure why she likes our show. Oh. Cassie did see something in a guy's dating profile in his About Me section that immediately caught her attention she thought was pretty funny. Okay, I made her laugh. I love that. Right off the bat. He put, just waiting for my Bumble acronym pamphlet to come in the mail. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:05:21 Bumble acronym. Talking about dating acronyms. You know? I don't get it. A bumble. for something? No, like the acronyms that you send to people that are like shorthand.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I don't know. I'm lost. I'm very lost. Okay. I know what an acronym is. You guys don't know what acronyms. Yeah. Is it a letter stand for something?
Starting point is 00:05:40 Yeah. That's what I'm asking a pamph. And why is it in a pamphlet? Like, hey, you DTF, that's a dating acronym. Yeah, we get that. We understand that. Why is so confused? What is the Bumble?
Starting point is 00:05:49 What is there a Bumble? What is there a pamphlet? Because obviously there's so many that people use on these dating apps that you would need a pamphlet. That you would need a pamphlet. in order to understand what they all mean. I feel like dictionary would have made that joke more clear. You know what afternoon? Wait, after he's saying he can't keep up with.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Yes. Yes. That there's so many. That's what you should have started with Jeff. Oh, okay. But good job. We got it. Wait, who laughed at this?
Starting point is 00:06:13 Cassie did. Cassie laughed at this? Our listener Cassie, did Cassie welcome to the show. Hi. Did you L-O-L. Cassie? Well, if you're on these apps, there's like ONS, one-night stand, you're friends with benefits.
Starting point is 00:06:26 It's at WB, and you've got to, like, you just don't know what they are. I can't see that. The only one that I know is BTD behind the dumpster. So I'm interested. I want to know some more of these. But first, let's talk about this guy. What's his name? Luke.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Luke. Okay. Luke with the brochure jokes. I get it. Okay. Look, guys, the bar is low. Yeah, the bar is low. I mean, what was the conversation like in the beginning with Luke?
Starting point is 00:06:51 Yeah, I mean, he's asking good questions. Like, I just got back from six. months in Brazil. I was doing charity work. We were building houses and stuff. That's like a whole thing. Yeah, that's really interesting. But he was super stoked about learning about that. That's fascinating.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Actually, you guys would be surprised. Like, they just see it on your dating profile and they don't even ask about it, you know, and they're just like, hey, let's hook up and they don't ask about you, you know? Unfortunately, I could see that. If you're just beautiful, you just swipe right. You don't spend more than 10 seconds. Or if you have, like, a bikini pick in Brazil. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:24 But Luke was different, right? He actually wanted to know about your experience. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's also not Tinder. I feel like this app is more like dating. Okay, good point, good point. The online talk sounds good. Did you guys meet up IRL?
Starting point is 00:07:38 Nice, Jeff. We haven't got the pamphlet yet. We don't know what's going on. That's in real life for anybody who doesn't know. So we were, we went on a date, like an actual, like, date date. We went to Mexican restaurant. Nice. All right.
Starting point is 00:07:51 And how was that? What was it like when you first saw him? So it was kind of not a surprise. It was good. And I don't know. I felt like it was like a good date. Like I'm kind of an adventurous food person and I suggested let's go somewhere interesting. Mexican food is interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:09 It sounds pretty typical. Some of the menu items are in a different language. Pretty common. This one says jalapeno. Well, the reviews were good. I don't know. I'd never been there. I will say that sometimes if you tell me it's your birthday, they'll come out with a big sobriero,
Starting point is 00:08:23 give you a shot. They'll sing. Is that a fun? Oh, it's very adventurous for me. That's the most adventurous I guess. Not a lot of dates at senior frogs. What was adventurous about this to you? Well, I asked about a tripe soup.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Ooh, my God. Do you guys want to know what that is? Don't eat. No, please don't. It's cow intestine. Yeah, okay. It's a lining of a cow's stomach. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:08:48 If you're going to eat part of the cow, you might as well eat at all, right? That's the movie. like intestine soup. It's called tripe. It's delicious. It's got a different name. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Did it do it for you? Cassie? Well, but they didn't have that. I guess they sometimes do, but they didn't bend. It's hard to find. All out of lining. Darn it.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah, I mean, no, it was good. I mean, I told him, like, I'm into all sorts of things, different customs. I don't know. But maybe that was too extreme for him. I don't know. I was sort of describing, like,
Starting point is 00:09:22 my time in Brazil and, like, the stuff I ate there, and I don't know. I bet you ate a lot of weird stuff. You think he was, like, intimidated by that? Yeah, I think maybe I took it to it, like, next level with my stories and stuff. I don't know. Well, that makes sense. Some people don't even like sushi.
Starting point is 00:09:37 Like, oh, this is raw salmon. That's too much. So you can see if someone's like, oh, we're having chicken feed or pig snout or whatever at, you know, Latin restaurants. They didn't even get it. He didn't have to eat it. No, that's true, but maybe him seeing you being so experimented. You're like cannonballed into the deep end immediately.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Some people need to wade in slowly. The dark side of the menu. Right. So, I mean, how did that date end? Well, he walked me to my car, and I figured we at least kiss good night or whatever, but he kind of kept his distance. I was doing all the things, you know, like, I'm touching his arm. Like, oh, you want to come over or whatever, because I lived so close. Put out a vibe.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Wait, he said no to coming over to your house? He was like, oh, I've got to work tomorrow. And I was like, oh, I must have turned him off on this date, but I don't know what exactly it was. And I usually don't get turned down. So I was like, what happened? That's, I mean, he definitely, no offense. He definitely turned you down. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:32 But Mexican food is a lot of like beans in for holies. And so maybe that's part of the reason he was trying to keep his difference. Well, I was trying to sound culture. Yeah, you did. Failed pretty bad. I mean, or maybe you're just too eager. You know, maybe just is as simple as that. Wait, a guy with standards, that can't be it.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I don't know. No way. Some guys have those, don't say? Yeah, I don't. I don't think it was, I don't know. That's the whole reason that we're doing this. We're going to try and find out. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:58 So hold on, Uno Momento. Hey! She lived in Brazil. She speaks Portuguese. Oh, well. I'll have to Google translate that one. And when we come back, we're going to do an international version of your second date update right after this. Second date update.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Bienveni, my friends, at the restaurant of Brooke and Jeffrey. Hey, Hey, Jeff, good job. Now we have much
Starting point is 00:11:26 hungry for La Amor. Oh. I think that made sense. I think it made yeah, we're going to a
Starting point is 00:11:34 restaurant of love or something. Yeah, sure, why not? I'll serve that on the menu. Hour of love, but yeah. You can't say that, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:41 No, now is now. Oh, see, we're all learning. See, we are. We're learning about our listener, Cassie and her dating life.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Who doesn't speak Spanish. Yeah. Well, she went to Brazil for a little bit. That's Portuguese. Well, that's right again. Pretty much the same thing. But Cassie went to Mexican food with a guy named Luke recently.
Starting point is 00:12:00 That's why we're doing Spanish and the Mexican music. They had a great time together. Wanted to do some exotic dishes, but they were fresh out of cow innards that day. Right. So instead, they had a normal Mexican meal. And the weird part is afterwards, Luke was a little bit standoffish about the kiss.
Starting point is 00:12:17 It didn't happen at all Yeah, she tried We're trying to figure out why Brooke thoughts I don't know I just think maybe he was intimidated by you You're like a worldly woman Who has done really cool things
Starting point is 00:12:32 And traveled a lot of places And that could be a lot for some people I kind of didn't say it in the first part But you're kind of like this girl You're the most world travel all around the world You're the most world traveled person I know Cassie do you feel bad for being a worldly woman And repelling men with your
Starting point is 00:12:44 Incredible Interests I don't think that was it I mean this guy takes trips I talked about like favorite trips and stuff he travels okay it would be different if he's like I've never left my home town and he knew it before they went out
Starting point is 00:12:59 too yeah that's true I have a feeling that the problem isn't you it's something on his end I like that answer let's blame him I like it it's only him screw this guy we're going to prove it I'm going to call him right now
Starting point is 00:13:13 okay Cassie you up for that okay yeah no that's why I figure you guys were going to get to the bottom of this. I just wanted to help. Yeah, we got that. All right. Vaminosariba. Dial the number. Here we go. Hello?
Starting point is 00:13:34 Hey, is this Luke? Yeah, who's calling? Hey, Luke, no need to be afraid. We're a morning radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. It's probably going to be afraid if you start with that. Don't fear us. Love us. Sorry, Luke.
Starting point is 00:13:48 All right. Hi, Lou. Welcome to the show, man. Thanks, I guess. What am I doing here? Yeah. What we're doing here is something called a second date update. We're trying to help out one of our listeners named Cassie that you went out on a date with the other day.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Yeah, of course. I remember Cassie. Cool. That's great. That's a good start. We've heard a little bit about the relationship that happened between you two. Relationship was a strong word. It was a date.
Starting point is 00:14:18 The meeting. Yes. And she's a little bit confused about why you guys aren't meeting up a second time. I don't know if we want to do this here. Should we call from a different line? No, that's nobody means, Jeff. Did you not like Cassie? We could FaceTime if that's better.
Starting point is 00:14:38 That would actually be fun. Radio via FaceTime. No, because if he's cute, then Alexis is going to try to steal. Oh, that's true. Sorry. We do want to know what you thought about. Cassie. I don't know. Something's kind of up with her. I just need to stay away. You need to stay away. Oh. That's like means you saw some red flags or something.
Starting point is 00:14:58 I mean, did she like say or do something inappropriate when you guys were out? All right. This is going to, at dinner, there was a fly buzzing around the table. Okay. Okay. That happens. Yeah. Yeah. She slotted the fly with her napkin. Yeah. With like perfect precision. I was actually a little breast at that. Oh, so she has too good of hand-eye coordination. Yeah, like a clumsier woman. Yeah, that's what the movies tell you.
Starting point is 00:15:25 It is true, right? They're always falling down. Okay, what's wrong with that? Nothing there. That was just the beginning. The fly fell on our table, and I thought she'd kind of brush it off. Yeah. She casually picked up the fly, plucked off its wings.
Starting point is 00:15:44 What? And ate it? Excuse me? Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on. Did you just... It had to be like... What? Hold on a second.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Did you just say eight? Yeah, she threw it in her mouth and swallowed. No! Tell me what's like a magic trick. You know, like when you get a quarter to disappear or something. It was like a piece of chip and you thought it was the flower. She plucked the wings off of it. That's true.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Why can't you eat the wings? If you're going to eat a fly, just eat the wings. There's no way this could be. real, dude. This has to be some kind of joke. Dude, I am telling you, I was shocked. She didn't say anything about it. She didn't explain anything. She just did it and then kept talking like it was nothing, man.
Starting point is 00:16:25 She ate a fly. Flies are like the most disgusting. Well, I mean, you say that it was disgusting and grossed to you, but at least she plucked off the wings. That has to have some sort of sanitary value. Like, why? What's the difference? You're eating the legs and the eyes. Okay, wait. Hold on. She did not bring this up to us.
Starting point is 00:16:42 How did you not say something and react? Like, there is no way I could bury my emotions. I don't think I did. My jaw was on the table. Okay. We have a lot of questions about what's going on here, if this really happened, why it did. And we need to just ask her directly, because I need to tell you, Luke, Cassie's on the other line right now listening and wanting to talk to you. Unless she's in the middle of the meal right now, Cassie.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Oh, my God. I got a couple bees I'm working on. Cassie Yeah Did that happen? Well, it's really common to eat bugs Around the world Whoa!
Starting point is 00:17:21 No! No, nobody's stop. That's not how bugs are eating around the world, A, and nobody's eating flies. Well, I was just in Brazil And everyone eats ants, including myself. Like, I kind of got into it. I don't even know I'm doing it sometimes.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Wait, you don't know that you're eating ants? I don't even know you're doing it. Well, it's just second nature for me to kill a bug now and just eat it. What are you in? ant eater? It's so common. I mean, you'll eat like fried crickets and stuff, right?
Starting point is 00:17:48 I will say, I took a trip to Costa Rica to do a charity mission, and they made us eat termites. Yeah, but that's different. And they were really good. They taste like peanut butter, actually. No way. I heard that they're tasty on the, like, nature shows I watch, but it's like you're not sitting inside a restaurant, just grabbing one
Starting point is 00:18:04 out of thin air. I don't know. It just doesn't seem like a big deal. I mean, I could see that if you're not used to it, it might come across odd. And I'm sorry, but in the moment, it didn't even occur to me. Like, I... Luke, you hear it. It's pretty normal.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Ah, uh-huh. You can say anything's pretty normal. It doesn't mean it's true. Yeah. Which part of it don't you like? Nobody eats flies, Jeff. I mean, crickets are good. And dragonflies are amazing.
Starting point is 00:18:33 They're, like, one species. They've got, like, a, like, a crunchy citrus flavor. I swear it's good. Dragonflies? Yeah, you've got to pull the wings off. Oh, wait. The wings are like, no bueno. Do they have them at Safeway or something?
Starting point is 00:18:47 Why can't you eat the wings? I don't understand that. You're eating the rest of it. You don't want it. Like, the wings are the texture and stuff. You just don't want the way. It's like the peel of a banana. Luke, is this making you feel better at all?
Starting point is 00:19:01 No, not at all. In fact, I feel like I wasted money because we could have just gone to the field in my backyard. And there's some dung piles over here. We can get a bunch of flies. I mean, Cass. Cassie, when you swatted the fly, I know you said it was kind of second nature, but aren't you worried at all about, like, maybe where the fly has been? Don't think about it.
Starting point is 00:19:21 You guys, they are literally born in... No. Cassie, is that something that would cross your mind? It probably landed on your enchilada first, so I got some cheese with it. Hey, that's not bad. Red sauce. You guys, that is not how it works. It's bad at Burke's against it.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Yeah, that's true. You think Brooke would be pro bug eating. So, look, I really need to know if Lou. honestly thinks this is a big time deal breaker and just to prove it we're going to offer to send you guys out on a second date that we would pay for is it to dinner that's to the bug sanctuary at the zoo it's a butterfly bar don't let her in one of those she puts a bib on when she goes in no one's safe here all kidding aside though it's not like she eats every bug and she sees
Starting point is 00:20:12 for every day. Well, and it's not like she's expecting you to do it, Luke. You just have to kiss her afterwards. And let her know if there's any legs in her in between her teeth. Don't think about the bugs. Put the bugs away for a second. Just focus on Cassie and Lady the Tramping an earthworm
Starting point is 00:20:30 with her. Oh, no. Think about how sexy it would be and we would offer to send you guys to that. I don't think you guys want to spend the money. You're not, you're not convincing me really well. Yeah, you're not really helping my case.
Starting point is 00:20:44 I'm trying. I'd leave the flies alone, man. It's just probably too shocking. Yeah. I mean, we were attracted to each other's pictures. I just wasn't paying enough attention to something that I didn't know would really bother him. I almost said bug him and then I realized you guys could just laugh at me.
Starting point is 00:21:02 That's some self-awareness. That's self-awareness. We love puns. Yeah. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed.
Starting point is 00:21:28 There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances. Just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism. Law and Order Criminal Justice System is back. In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight.
Starting point is 00:21:57 That's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. So what happened at Chappaquittic? Well, it really depends on who you talk to. There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond. And left a woman behind to drown. There's a famous headline. I think in the New York Daily News, it's Teddy escapes, blonde drowns. And in a strange way, right, that sort of tells you. The story really became about Ted's political future. Ted's political hopes.
Starting point is 00:22:41 Will Ted become president? Chappaquittic is a story of a tragic death and how the Kennedy machine took control. And he's not the only Kennedy to survive a scandal. The Kennedys have lived through disgrace, affairs, violence, you name it. So is there a curse? Every week we go behind the headlines and beyond the drama of America's royal family.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Listen to United States of Kennedy on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. You know, looking at the text board at 75.992, a lot of people are saying, ew, instant deal breaker, major turnoff, never again. Is it weird if I think it's a semi turn on? Yes. When you like it?
Starting point is 00:23:24 Let me explain. I only say that because the person who does that has to be confident, bold, and definitely promiscuous. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. You're not getting a lot of buttoned up people popping flies into their mouth. You're getting somebody with a definite freak side. You have to kiss that same mouth. Do you know where flies land?
Starting point is 00:23:45 Do you know that flies, like, they, like, spit immediately on everything that they land on just so that it can start to, like, mush it up and then they eat it. I'm not arguing about the sanitary status of it, but just the type of person, you know that they're down for whatever. I'm with you, Jeff. Okay, you guys would luck with that. Yeah. Just knowing that they did it. I think I just found out I'm not down with whatever.
Starting point is 00:24:07 You can jump on. On the text board, tell us what you thought at 7-8-5-9-2, if you haven't already. And make sure to check out our podcasts on any platform, Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. And could somebody send any research of to anywhere they actually eat flies in the world? I mean, they're doing a lot of bugs. Jeff and a termite. We need to do a live broadcast from that place. That's why Brooke wants to know.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Anyway. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. It's a bold move to introduce your date to your family on the first day. Oh, my God. That's more than bold, Jeff. For me, I'd wait until at least the seventh or eighth year of dating until they met mine. But, hey, look, we've heard it happening before on the show. People have done it.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Never like this, though. Because one of our listeners made the brave decision to go through with it, and we were all floored that he chose this particular type of family event to make the introductions. He chose? Yeah. You're going to hear it in your second day. update coming up right after this second date update do pickup lines work anymore I don't know pick up lines are supposed to be silly and dumb not taking seriously I know
Starting point is 00:25:21 they had a good run in the late 80s for sure oh like you know that still work yeah were you born in the late 80s thank you very much people trying to pick you up I know the hot baby broke him off of it I know the line that led to me oh god you know the line your Dad, speak your mom. Girl, are you a boombox? Because I want to turn you on and take you everywhere. No. And then I came.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Wow. Okay, well, you were the only one that came. Anyway, this is awful, Jim. Why are we doing that? Well, look, I get it. I'm out of deep batteries for your boombox jokes. I think a lot of people think pickup lines aren't, like, really serious. They're kind of dead.
Starting point is 00:26:01 But one of our listeners may have just revived them. Oh, okay. Because he says he tried one and it actually worked. His name is David. David, welcome to the show, ma'am. Hey, thanks for having me. Please tell me you did not use the same line that Jeffrey's dad did. No, I didn't quite use that one. Okay, we got to hear it.
Starting point is 00:26:21 What was the pickup line? So I slid into this young lady's DM. What's her name? Her name is Jennifer. Okay, Jennifer. So the pickup line, it went like this. Hey, I'm sorry to tell you this, but I think another account is using your photos. Oh.
Starting point is 00:26:39 Oh, this is good. Because that would get someone's attention. You're not, like, hitting on her or being weird. Exactly. And you'd be freaked out. I'd be like, oh, thanks for telling me. Yeah, send me the link. Who is it?
Starting point is 00:26:49 That's exactly what she said. Send me the link. Who is it? Uh-huh. That's when I say it's at NASA because you're an absolute rocket. Oh. Yeah, I felt like you were going to send her a picture of a supermodel. That's what I thought, too.
Starting point is 00:27:06 No, this is way more clever. I mean. Not a lot of the curbs on a rocket. You're a rocket, mean you're out of this world. Okay. Okay. What was her reaction? She went for it.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Okay. She said that he never falls a pickup line. Oh. That's something about me and this one just seemed to work this day. Okay. Okay. So she was drinking. No, I love it.
Starting point is 00:27:28 I think it's innocent. It's fun. It's complimentary. Were you able to parlay the pickup line into an actual in-person date? I absolutely did. I arranged to me. up right away. Nice.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Okay. Not wasting any time. NASA Tour. What did you guys do? Okay. This, it may seem a little weird. I took it to a gender reveal. A gender reveal?
Starting point is 00:27:53 Whose gender reveal? Please don't tell me yours. Or a random person? It was my cousin. It was my cousin. Did you run it by her beforehand? Well, I told her why we was on our way. Oh, good then.
Starting point is 00:28:08 Oh, dude. That is a lot. Yeah. Oh, my God. Was she cool with it? I mean, she seemed like she was cool with it because I was only supposed to pop in, so she didn't come in there initially with me. But I saw how live the party was. And I was like, well, I could catch her with her family.
Starting point is 00:28:26 So I just waved her in. I just told her, hey, come in, come out of the car. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Oh, no. Yeah. So you said, wait in the car. I'll be back in five minutes and then decided to just waver in.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Yeah, yeah. My family looked like that. Okay. I mean, I bet it is. It's just a lot for anybody, right? How did it go? I mean, this is the kicker. She actually cut the cake for the reveal.
Starting point is 00:28:49 What? What is going on? Was that by choice or it was like everybody's chanting her name, making her? Or she was hungry and she didn't realize she was cutting the wrong. Yeah. What happened? It just happened. And my cousin, he thought it was the funniest thing ever because he thought it was just a great idea to have a random woman
Starting point is 00:29:07 that nobody in the family knew tell the family This is like the first time ever I actually want to be at a gender reveal party Just listening to what happened Do we know girl or boy? Oh, it was a boy That's awesome Congratulations to your cousin
Starting point is 00:29:23 Yeah But is that the date? Did you guys do the other thing That you had planned ever? Well, see, that kind of turned into the date Because we end up staying for hours I mean, my family had food open bar
Starting point is 00:29:38 the DJ was bumping nice oh wow was there like any like romantic vibe that's the one thing that seems difficult to achieve when you're at a gender reveal okay with you if you just want to be friends like then it doesn't matter
Starting point is 00:29:52 or you grinding up up in your cousin's backyard right now now see you got a point that that's where things kind of start getting hazy because we actually didn't speak much so I was so involved with my family Oh, no. Does that feel like a regret like you did something wrong there?
Starting point is 00:30:10 Yeah, yeah. I probably should have like spent more time with her. But she seemed like she was having a good time because she was talking to all my female cousins. Like all the ladies at the party, she was like a hit with them. Oh, okay. Okay. Well, that's a good sign. Yeah, it was a great sign. But only if they then start running their mouth and telling her about my last weight ships and scared her off. That's the only thing I was concerned about it. Oh, yeah. I'm going to say, of course they did.
Starting point is 00:30:35 Yeah, that's why you don't introduce family early on. I mean, you had to bring her home, right? Because you brought her to the party. Was there any romance then? Nah, man. It wasn't really no sparks at that point because I just drove her and I didn't get out. She just kind of said thanks and just jumped out. Jumped out and like tucked and rolled?
Starting point is 00:30:55 Still moving? No, no, the car wasn't moving. Okay, just wanted to clarify it. How long has it been since that gender reveal date? man that was probably like a week ago now okay i'm guessing you haven't heard from her and neither have your female cousins yeah i don't know i i'm too afraid to ask my female cousin okay well i guess we're gonna have to step up and do what your family didn't yeah we're your cousins right now bro we'll hook you up yeah we're gonna wingman for you try and get you a second date update right after
Starting point is 00:31:27 this appreciate you guys thank you yeah man hold on second date update people wouldn't call gender reveal parties romantic. No, what? And neither what our listener, David. Yeah, that's true. But yet somehow, that's where he ended up taking his date, Jennifer.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Yeah. And then they didn't really talk much. She did cut the cake and reveal that it was a boy. She's like the star of the show. So that's cool. They'll always have that moment. Dude, it's kind of wild to be a woman who's cut a gender reveal cake and never actually
Starting point is 00:32:02 had babies yourself. You know what I mean? The thing is, that was a week ago, and we're trying to get another date for David and Jennifer. Brooke, what do you think? Is it salvageable or unsalvageable? I mean, here's the positives. Is you sound like a really fun, really kind dude, and your family sounds awesome. So those are all positives.
Starting point is 00:32:23 The negatives is maybe the shock of it all is probably finally setting in. Like, I would be so shocked at where I was and what I was doing. I feel like it would take me a couple days to even probably. I mean, it makes sense, but it's all about being spontaneous. And I mean, like I said, it was a good vibe, food, drink. It sounded like a big party, like a big barbecue, like we were saying. Sounds like maybe too good of gossip about you. That's the point.
Starting point is 00:32:49 It's a lot of worst first dates a person can have. Okay. That's true. Don't take her criticism like that either, dude. Brooke is just jealous because her family didn't throw her a gender reveal party. I didn't want a gender reveal party. Sure, now you say that, but if they had thrown one, you would. would have been really happy.
Starting point is 00:33:04 It would have been too confusing. Like, wait, who's the cousin or the father? All right. Very funny. Very funny. But we need to call Jennifer here. I'm thinking date number two with the bris. She holds the scissors this time.
Starting point is 00:33:16 It didn't realize what that was for a second. It took me a second. Well, we'll just start with a date idea and see if she's open to it. Here we go. Yeah, man, call it. I need to know what's going on. All right. I'm doing it.
Starting point is 00:33:27 Here we go. Hello? Hey, we're looking to talk with Jennifer. This is Jennifer. Hey, Jennifer. You're on the radio right now. Hey. With a show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:33:51 What's going on? We're doing a segment here, Jennifer, called a second date update. And that's where we try and help out listeners who've been out with somebody that they really liked. And they want to see them again. but they're having difficulty arranging that second meetup. And I got to say, your chill reaction to us being on the phone, maybe, yeah. She's good at rolling with punches. Is that true, Jennifer?
Starting point is 00:34:13 Are you someone who likes to roll with it, go with the flow? Yes, for sure, absolutely. Okay. Okay, makes sense. And this actually changes a lot. This makes sense because we heard about your date with a guy named David recently. There was a lot of go and a lot of flow, it sounds like. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:34:32 He flowed right into his gender reveal party with his cousin. Oh, no, David got in touch with you? Yes. Oh, no. No, it's a good thing. It means that he enjoyed the time you guys spent together. She said, uh-oh. Well, I mean, to be fair, he did say that he regrets not spending more time with you
Starting point is 00:34:51 because he got so wrapped up in the family at the party. Right. Oh, no, he told you about the gender reveal party. Oh, my funny. Of course. Yeah, David's a good guy. Oh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:05 Well, if he's such a good guy, then why not hang out with him one more time? Because he's been trying to arrange a meetup. I'm, like, relieved to hear that. I mean, my God, you've already met all of his family. The heart stuff's out of the way. Smooth sailing now. Yes, I got to meet all of his family, and therein lies the problem. What?
Starting point is 00:35:23 What? Wait, what? Uh-oh. Oh, my gosh. This is going to sound so bad. He really wanted to take this to the air. Well, he's confused. He didn't know what was going on.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Well, he was worried about what his female cousins may have said. Oh, they were a trip. No, his family is awesome. I hope they keep having babies, seriously. Oh, God. Oh, that's sweet. That's a relief. It's a weird compliment.
Starting point is 00:35:44 I wish a baby on you. Well, I mean, it's like, if you have a good family, you want the good family to continue in the world. I hope all of you get pregnant. Yeah. Okay. You love his family. They're all wonderful. What's the problem with David?
Starting point is 00:35:56 Yeah. Why aren't you talking to him? No, it's not a problem with David. I just, I got to meet all of his cousins. cousins and I kind of have a crush on his cousin D. His cousin. Oh, no. You like his cousin.
Starting point is 00:36:10 One of his cousins. His cousin, he was at the party. He was the one having the baby. Wait, what? I have a crush on him? What the heck? The baby dad? Is the baby's dad single?
Starting point is 00:36:22 Yeah, he's a baby daddy. He's not married and his and the mother isn't with him. She wasn't there. He picked up a. other woman at his own baby's gender reveal? No wonder she cut the cake because he's like... And there is no pregnant mom there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:40 This all makes sense and it's more chill if it's a dude one. Yes. Oh my God. I mean, so cute, though, that D is celebrating that way. Yeah. I do think that that's really sweet. He said his family was fun. Will you help him take care of the baby?
Starting point is 00:36:55 I mean, when I said it happened fast on the first date to be cutting a cake for someone else's baby. Yeah. And now you're into somebody who has a baby coming. And then, like, I feel like the, like, I'm the one who got to discover that we're having a boy. I mean, like, it's kind of crazy for me. We are, wait. I understand that you have a crush on D.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Did D reciprocate this crush at the party? Um, we've been texting for like a week. Oh, gosh. Oh, man. This is going to be a family mess. What were you going to do? Just show up at the next family event with D instead? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I was thinking, like, yeah. to look through it. I didn't think we'd be telling the whole city about it today. Okay. That is true. She didn't expect a phone call from us. Yeah. He was the one that put us on the show. This is not going to go well. I definitely don't know if David knows any of this.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Probably not. So, well, we're about to have a lot of flowage right now. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good point, Jose. We're about to open go. The way this segment works, Jennifer, is David is listening on the other line right now. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Yeah. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. God. I'm really at a loss of words. Damn, Jennifer, like, for real? Well said, dude. Like, I can respect the game that, you know, she's feeling somebody else, but this
Starting point is 00:38:15 chick is bogus. I think you need to blame your cousin more than her. Yeah, there's more people to blame. He's more loyalty to you than her. That's a good point as well. I mean, it's not that I don't blame my cousin, you know, he's not the most reputable person in the world anyway. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Okay, hold on a minute there. You're not the first one to send you pictures of the moon saying, hey, you're out of this world. You're not the first one. Oh, the pickup line. Someone else has used the NASA pickup line. You don't think I'm good enough for him? He's got a better job than you.
Starting point is 00:38:46 Oh, God. Not the job. Jennifer. Don't talk to. What are his benefits like? Well, talking like the true unemployed goal of it. I want to say, I didn't really mean that, David, because I think you're, I think you're,
Starting point is 00:39:00 I think you're great. But come on, like, you know this. Like, sometimes chemistry just happens. And you know, you know what? But that's not what I'm mad at. What I'm upset at is, you could have came and told me that. We were going to wait until after the baby was born at least, you know? I don't want to get that bad energy in the family before the delivery.
Starting point is 00:39:19 Jennifer, do you even think to tell him, like, on the ride home at least, that you met his cousin or something? Well, we were drinking. I mean, we were thinking, actually, your cousin asked to take me home, and I was like, no, no, no, no. Wow, he's going that night. That's kind of nice of her. You know what, Jennifer, you're right.
Starting point is 00:39:33 You do deserve to be a stepmom. You definitely do. Oh, my God. That didn't sit right. Okay. That's wild. All right, David, how about this? How about I help you land the girl?
Starting point is 00:39:45 And then next year, when I have a gender reveal for our baby, you can invite her. Oh, my gosh. Bro, she's about to be your cousin-in-law. Will she be allowed to cut the cake and everything? Well, you know what? As long as she looks better than you, bring it on. Okay, so you're open. She's open to it.
Starting point is 00:40:01 And you know what? That won't be too hard to do, Jennifer. So yeah, do that really. What happened to the pickup line when she was a NASA rocket? That's all right. It's other rockets that go to the moon. Yep. I'm on that SpaceX, bro.
Starting point is 00:40:15 And he wants a full Starlink, you know. Okay, well, this has definitely been one of the weirdest second day calls that we've ever done. I'm like confused right now. I feel we should let's let the other cousin know that he's going to have another baby soon again. Hey, let's call him. Jennifer, hey, I'm sorry. Normally we would, but I can't even offer to send you out on another date with David because... You're a mom now.
Starting point is 00:40:35 You're a stepmom now. You've already moved on to his cousin. She's laughing. Okay. So I don't even really know what to do with this gift card for dinner. Okay. David, why don't you take it and we can help you find a good girl on the internet or something? Just how you found me. Is your charity case now?
Starting point is 00:40:50 Like, you're like adopting him. Hey, you know what? I will take the gift card because now I can spend money on somebody because I didn't spend money on Jennifer. So it's all good. It's still not your money. You're not spending money. I'm going to say that's smart business. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:04 Is the lesson, don't bring women around your family? No, it's gender review. Oh, no, no, no, no. I'm going to bring whoever around my family. You just got to have enough class and I get on my family. I love that he was worried about the female cousins, not the male. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport.

I feel like he was, yeah. But that's the thing.
Starting point is 00:43:41 He was stomped, though. She was like, I found somebody else in your family. He's got a better job than you. He's currently due to have a baby with another woman. And I still pick him over you. Dude, he was crushed. He was demolished. Like, that was terrible.
Starting point is 00:43:55 Meanwhile, he is smiling through the whole thing. Like, yeah, sure. Okay, fine. Yeah, he's like, did you all say. free gift cards. He's great. So now I think this makes them step cousins? No, we're not going that far.
