All right, before we get to your back-to-back classics, there's something that we really need to address in this room. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Ashton, have you recovered from the Jersey Mike's fiasco? Oh, we've heard all about it out there. I mean, they put oil on his sandwich and he did not want oil on his sandwich.
Starting point is 00:02:40 No, I did not. He asked for no oil. I requested it specifically. Yeah. Did you eat it? Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:51 So do you want to talk to the manager now after you've eaten the sandwich? You know what? I think I'm entitled to. Oh, no. I bet you do. I bet you do. Okay. Okay, I'm glad that we got that out of the air.
Starting point is 00:03:04 It was uncomfortable in this room for a minute. Yeah, smells a whole lot like onions in me. I'll tell you that. All right. I hope you're having a great day. We do have your back-to-back classics right now, but first comments. Yeah, well, cushy galore said, it's 2026. Why can't we watch full podcast episodes with a video yet?
Starting point is 00:03:23 Is your station poor? Well, yes. Yes. Yep. And yes. Yes and yes. I mean. Sorry, we've had a lot of comments on the.
Starting point is 00:03:31 the chair that I sit in and, uh, oh, it is proof that we're poor, that chair. Yeah. Yeah. Front half of it is just missing all of its fabric and the foam is fully exposed. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we won't have about so many things in here that we talk about Jeff's microphone.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Yeah. My headphones, people were freaking out about needed to be replaced. You know, and Ashton having to move back in with his mom and dad because he can't afford rent. Oh, yeah. We're doing great at the radio station. Everything's fine. Seems like I can catch a lot of straits. Yes. Nothing's burning down. I promise. All right, you're back-to-back classics right now.
Starting point is 00:04:05 After many failed romantic encounters and a couple of outright scams, one of the most lovable and eternally optimistic listeners who that we've ever had on the show is back again. Yay! We know he's gotten himself into some weird situations before, but this time he thinks it's different. Okay. Because he finally executed the perfect date night.
Starting point is 00:04:30 No way! Well, at least for a few minutes. Until his lady friend received a text that changed everything. Once you hear it, you'll agree that this man definitely deserves a do-over. We'll try to make it happen for him in your second-date update. Next. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, second-date update. I'm going to do a quick recap about one of my most favorite listeners we've had on the show in the past year.
Starting point is 00:04:58 And I'm going to do it because he's back today. Yes, that's awesome then. Wait, hold on, don't get excited. He's his favorite, not our favorite. Well, that's fair. His name is Randall, and last time we spoke to Randall, he had met not one, but two international women on the internet. One was from Vietnam, the other from the Philippines.
Starting point is 00:05:20 And he had even flown out to meet the first one in Vietnam. Yeah, they turned up not at the airport. Yeah, she never showed up to their day. We didn't call that woman. We ended up calling a different lady, someone that he'd met locally, because his friend had suggested, why not try dating in your own area code?
Starting point is 00:05:39 Great friend. Why try not getting scammed? And that woman ended up just wanting to be his friend. And help them avoid scammers. Yeah. But the thing that we learned about Randall is that he believes in the power of true love. That's true.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Yep. And he's just had a bad run of luck lately and needs our help. So I'm curious to hear about his latest romantic endeavor. Randall, my guy, welcome back to the show. How you been? Man, thank you guys so much for having me back on. I really appreciate you. Please tell me in the time between the last time we talked and now you have wired no one money. No. Sweet. Yay. Awesome. No. We're growing. We're learning. We're growing. That's great. But what brings you back today? Well, I had a few friends listened to the show the last
Starting point is 00:06:28 time. Okay. They agreed with you guys that I should try dating more locally first. Okay. And surprisingly, I started doing that, but it hasn't gone that great, to be honest, guys. Okay. Are you on the apps? Is that how you're finding women locally to date? Well, I met a girl named Sammy. And we met in person. Okay. Here we go. You are doing a good thing where you're looking at the past mistakes and learning and adjusting and adapting. That's all very good. Now, you guys know me. I'm a romantic. Right. So I surprised her with a very special date.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I'm scared. I took her on a picnic to an outdoor movie. Cute. Oh, that's great. Well, you can't really talk, can you during the movie? It doesn't matter. It's true. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:11 And it's outdoors. People are only halfway. Okay. How did it go? Well, I think the first 30 to 45 seconds was good. What? Seconds. Well, that's a good start.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Yeah. Just my luck. Right after we sit down, we get situated, she goes, oh my gosh. gosh, I think my friend's here. Then she looks at me and says, do you mind if I text them where we are? So, of course, you were like, yeah, tell your friends to come say hi, right?
Starting point is 00:07:38 It's a good sign that she's already wanting to introduce you to her friends. That's what I thought. It sounded like, man, I'm really in there this time. So a couple minutes later, a very good-looking guy shows up, and the only face on the little blanket that we have is on the
Starting point is 00:07:54 other side of me, so now I'm in the middle of them. The movie starts, and then as we're about to watch it, she whispers in my ear, this is my ex. What? Oh, my God. Her ex-bord. Her ex-boyfriend? Yeah, so I had to watch the movie with her ex.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Oh, my God. What? You stayed, bro? I have so many questions. Well, they're on his blanket. What is he going to do? I'd be like, it's my blanket. I'm leaving.
Starting point is 00:08:19 The ex there alone anyway. Let's hold on. Maybe it gets better from here. Oh, goodness. Does it? It does not. Oh. What happened?
Starting point is 00:08:28 They're laughing parts of the movie together that I'm not laughing at because they have some history of inside jokes that I don't understand. Oh, yeah. Here's the bad part. At one point, she reached around my back and rubbed his shoulder. Oh, my God. Maybe there was like a spider or something. She flicked it off.
Starting point is 00:08:47 This is bad, bro. This is so bad. Why are you wanting to call this woman? She sounds terrible. Somehow the woman in the Philippines sounds better. It's true. It doesn't sound like those girls giving you the attention that you, deserve and that you want for a day.
Starting point is 00:08:58 More the respect. Why would you want to reach out to her? I really liked her. I thought she was nice. I thought we had a good chemistry. I mean, after the movie, I was like, go, that's your ex, huh? But she said, we'll always just be friends.
Starting point is 00:09:12 So, I mean, that did probably give you hope that she was still interested in you, though, right? Her saying that. Well, that's what it sounded like to me. She was trying to make sure I understood. They're just friends. Okay. Well, that is good.
Starting point is 00:09:24 At least she's, like, explaining, like, I know this looks weird, but I want to reassure you. That could be nice. So nothing since? No, and I really would love another chance with Sammy. I like her. I think she's the one should be asking for another chance with you. Or her ex, maybe.
Starting point is 00:09:41 It would be probably nice to get an opportunity to a date without an ex-boyfriend sitting directly next to you. That would probably help. I prefer to sit in the non-X section. Yeah. That's a fair thing. It's crazy. You've been on so many dates recently, and none of them have just been one-on-one. with a woman and put that up for you. I mean, at least get you some answers because clearly
Starting point is 00:10:03 you're looking for help here. I am. I really want the person that likes me. I like them. So is there something I need to do to fix that or improve it? I want to hear it. Okay. Okay. You don't need to fix anything about yourself. You're perfect the way you are, Randall. Maybe he does. We all could use growth, Jeff. Nobody's perfect. We're going to try to help Sammy see how amazing you really when we call her and try and get you your second date update. That's coming up right after Brooke reaches around Jose to scratch my shoulder. Oh, wow. No?
Starting point is 00:10:34 Okay, never mind. We're just doing it after this. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. If you're just joining us, we've got Randall on the phone, a friend of the show who's been unlucky and love lately. Yeah. And he's back because his latest date was with a woman named Sammy, which also turned out
Starting point is 00:10:53 to be pretty unlucky. Yeah. Because Sammy's ex was at the outdoor movie theater where they both were at. And then invited. Invited to join them. Right. That was the really weird part. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Randall liked the cream in their Oreo sandwich. Because he ended up sitting between them for the entire film. Which he stayed for. Yeah. I have no idea how. It's not exactly your ideal first meetup. And Sammy's not responding now. Is she back together with that ex-boyfriend?
Starting point is 00:11:24 We don't know. might find out here in a second. Randall just wants to understand if he's doing something wrong on these dates. Just kind of want to find out what am I doing wrong? I just think I have a big heart and a lot to offer. Not only that, but you're putting in the work. Like you are trying to do different things, change the way you're dating, even learn from this experience. Yes, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:11:47 God, I'm frustrated for you. This is like the good guys finish last kind of motto. It's like, you know, there's a guy out there who really does want love and really, is trying. It's just, it's like helpless. Well, not today. Yeah, there we go. Not today. The good guy is going to finish first or at least get some explanation for why he can't win.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Yeah, or we'll hang up on her. You guys are my best friend. Aw. I'm going to try not to think that that's a sad thing, but. Hey, just move on. Let's call her. Let's do this. Thank you. You know what, Best buddy, we're in this together. I'm going to dial her
Starting point is 00:12:19 number right now. Here we go. Okay. Hey, is this Sammy? yes hey sammy we're calling from a radio show we're called brook and geoffrey in the morning hi sammy the whole show's here
Starting point is 00:12:41 nobody would talk and jeff would look crazy like we're from a morning show thank you for speaking i don't really do radio shows sorry you don't do radio shows I don't like to talk on radio shows we've never gotten that oh yeah that is that is a stance
Starting point is 00:13:00 look i totally understand that And listen, we won't air this unless we have your permission to do it. Yeah. But this is a segment. It's called a second date update. I've heard about that before. You have. Yeah, they're pretty popular.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Yeah, thanks. Maybe it's out on TikTok or something. Yeah. Yeah, that's us. It's interesting. Definitely interesting. It is, and you should take it as a compliment because it means somebody out there is trying to get a hold of you. I won't know.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I'll play along. Okay. Well, I'll just tell you, it's a guy that you went out with recently. simply named Randall. Oh my God. Okay. Is that I'm going to take that as a fun, excited laugh.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Like, yay, Randall. It was like, it was the weirdest day I've had. Really? Kind of. Weird, okay. Could you tell us how you felt it was weird?
Starting point is 00:13:52 Because we've heard a little bit from Randall's side. We'd like to get, like, your perspective on the night. Yeah, we know outdoor movie picnic, super fun. Wow. Yeah. It was actually like a really sweet idea.
Starting point is 00:14:05 I was like, wow, this guy really put a lot into the effort. But my ex was there, and he texted me. I'm over near the lemonade stand. Wait, how did he know you were there? He saw me, I guess, from across the way. Okay. So he's the one who initiated the conversation with you. Dude, how rude.
Starting point is 00:14:29 You were obviously on a date. Like, you're showing up with. You know, I don't really think my ex knew I was on a date. And Randall is such a sweetheart. He's like, why don't you just invite him over? But when we spoke to Randall, he told us that he was under the impression it was just a friend of yours. Yeah, you didn't specify. Well, he was a friend, but he was my ex friend.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Okay, so you didn't tell him. I wanted to tell him, but it all happened so fast. And the movie just started, and he sat down right next to us. Oh, my God. So awkward. All right. So, oh, that makes me feel better, though, because it sounds like you weren't trying for this interaction to happen. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:15:14 I thought he would leave, but he didn't. Too many nice people that can't say no. It's what's happening. So clearly that wasn't a malicious move on your part, Sammy. But I think what Randall's confused about is if you liked him so much and you're trying to be so sweet to him, Why aren't you calling him back for another date? Well, it was kind of weird because he told me that it was a movie, but he didn't tell me the name of it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:39 And he said it was a historical piece, but guess what movie it was? What? What? Fast and Furious. That's not historical. Wait, was that a joke? Are you saying that you're not calling him back because he misrepresented what film was being shown? No, I just, I thought it was, like, weird.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Like, my ex and I were just laughing. Wait, you had told your ex, like, oh, my God, this guy thinks it's a historical piece and we're joking about him? No, he told us both at the same time, and he was backing it up with all these facts. Oh, Randall told you both that it was historical. Oh, wow. My ex is looking at me, like, who is this guy? Oh, okay. He's not your type.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Okay, well, Sammy, thank you for telling us your side of the story. Hold on. I need to let me speak my piece. Oh, yeah. We'll get there. Well, okay. Yeah. Who is that? Yeah, that's Randall. It's me.
Starting point is 00:16:38 It's Randall. Listen, it's actually based on a true story. You guys do know that, right? No, it was a street race? Is it? Yes, the movies are actually based on street crimes. They were happening in L.A. in the 90s. Do you guys think Ben Diesel was the very first person to rob a semi-truck going that fast on a freeway?
Starting point is 00:16:57 No. I'm so sorry, but I did not know that. Yes. If you read the forums that I'm a part of, the movie ones on Facebook, we all know it's true. We talk about it all the time. We should leave forums on Facebook. You can hear about Tokyo drift, right? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:16 That's true, yes. It happened to Tokyo as well. That's why they made a movie about it. These street crimes were rampant everywhere. Oh, goodness. I think what you need to do, Randall, is actually talk to. Sammy here. That's exactly right, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:17:31 You don't have to convince us. You have to talk to Sammy. You know that I'm a good guy. I didn't get jealous when the guy came over your ex. I found it weird, but I told you understand that you're a nice person too. And I'm just going to be honest and straightforward to Sammy. When we're sitting there watching that movie, you may not have believed me, but your ex sure did. Now, if you could be with a man like that that believes the truth, then I think you should be with me as well and give me a chance.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Oh, wow. It's quite the pitch, Sammy. Wait, the pitch is if you can date your ex, you can date me. Don't. I can do it too much. Two fellow truth finders. Hey, yeah. No, I'm sorry to break it to you, Randall, but he did not buy it either.
Starting point is 00:18:10 We talked to each other over text. Oh, oh. They're texting again. Oh, no. Yeah. You know what? He's probably just trying to make you feel better because you didn't believe it. Oh.
Starting point is 00:18:22 It's like when you talk to those people that believe the earth is flat and you're like, you know what? You're right. It is flat. You just give up. Yeah. I mean, if he's a good guy, he has some funny quirks.
Starting point is 00:18:33 We'll say that this could be a cute story you guys tell later, something that you make fun of them for in a relationship, you know? I'm going to tell you what, man, nobody else that I know is making fun of FAC and the Furious.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Okay. Yeah, well, maybe the benefit is you'll actually learn some interesting things by giving him another chance. Also, we're his best friends. Like,
Starting point is 00:18:52 I could send you guys documents so many. Honestly, we need to stop talking. about the true crimes that have happened on the streets of LA and focus on true love. Because that's what we're here to do, Sammy. We're here to attempt to connect you and Randall one more time. Movies aside.
Starting point is 00:19:09 And you deserve to give him another chance. I mean, your ex hung out the entire time. Seriously. Like this guy, like he deserves one more shot. Yeah, a one-on-one shot and we would pay for it. I would absolutely love to go out with Randall. Yes. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Good. As a friend. Oh. Oh. Not again. Sammy. You have the big buildup. But maybe she means friend in quotes like she did about her ex.
Starting point is 00:19:32 No. Yeah. You know, she was a friend. Maybe good to be a friend of hers. All right. No, there's just not any potential. It's more of a friend, friend thing. Friend, friend.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Oh, okay. Doubling down on the French. Yeah. That's okay. Because you know what? You have to be friends before you can be romantic. So I still have hope. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Well, you were romantic. Well, actually, you want it. It's one of those. One in a million. Yeah. Van Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez were friends in the movie before they were going. Based on a true story. That's real events.
Starting point is 00:20:06 That's not going to happen. But Randall, I would love to hang out with you as a buddy. Oh. Body. Oh, God. We're downgrading even more as an acquaintance next time. Oh, Randall. Well, Randall, man, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:20:21 So we've done now two second dates with you. And you've gotten two friends out of it. I'm not feeling. down about this, guys. Like you said, I just earned another friend. That's a good attitude. You are so sweet. And you have us, your four best friends. Yes. My BFF. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Listen. And you're there.
Starting point is 00:20:46 For heart-wrenching knockouts. The world's biggest stage. And breathtaking triumph. In 2026, FIFA World Cup. The knockout stage. Every moment. Listen on TSN Radio. Join the globe. On the road to the July 19th final. 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Stream it all live on TSN Radio. Available on IHeard Radio. What's up, fam? I'm sports journalist Ari Chambers. Hey, what's up y'all? It's your girl, Sam J. And we're the host of everyone watches women's sports, a new podcast from Together and IHart Women's Sports. Because let's be real. Women's sports is giving us way too much to talk about these days. The highlights, the rivalry. the breakout stars, the moments to take over your entire timeline.
Starting point is 00:21:33 And the conversations that start during the game and somehow keep going all week. Every week we're breaking down the biggest stories across women's sports. We'll give you our tapes, our debates, and probably a few disagreements. We'll talk to athletes, celebrate big moments and get into what's happening on and off the field, court, track, and beyond. Because we're not just interested in what happened. We're interested in why everyone's talking about it. Because everyone watches women's sports. So if you're already a fan
Starting point is 00:22:00 You're just getting into the game There's a seat for you right here Listen to everyone watches women's sports On the IHeart Radio app Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast Man we should be so lucky To be like Randall Who's just collecting friends left and right in his life
Starting point is 00:22:19 Not on purpose But he's doing it Collecting friends I like that You know this guy is so good at self-improvement That one day it may be when he's 100 He's going to be the perfect man. Oh, he will be. Think about it.
Starting point is 00:22:31 I hurt my soul when she called him buddy. Oh, I know. Now you see how we feel, Brooke? But how cool would it be if Randall does finally find love with us here on the show and we're there to witness it? Wow. Or better yet, we're calling someone who's like, I went on a date with this guy, Randall. He won't call me bad. That would be even better.
Starting point is 00:22:52 That would be amazing. Although it is like Brooke always says, almost everyone deserves love. I don't say that. I don't say that. Everyone does. She keeps a list of people who don't. So if you're not on that list, feel free to email us for help with your dating life. And remember, you can listen to all of our second dates on our podcast at Broke and Jeffrey.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Yes. Wherever you listen to them and on our YouTube page. Check it out. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. They say trends are cyclical. All the old stuff that went out of style years ago is suddenly back and cool again. Seriously. Like baggy jeans, mid-caf compression socks, blazers with shoulder pads.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Wait, damn it, Brooke, did you get a hold of my notes again? Wait a minute, that's not in style. Nobody likes shoulder pads. They don't care. How hard you try, they're never going to be cool again. They are not. But I will tell you one thing that's becoming hot in the dating world all of a sudden. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:51 And it's math? No. Even you said that with a question words. I'm surprised, but that's what one of our listeners says. And it helped her to meet the perfect guy. You're going to hear how in your second date update. Next. Broken Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:24:07 Second date update. I don't know why, but in the last year or so on the show, it seems like people are trying to hack the dating system more. Oh, yeah. They're not just trying to meet people and let things happen the way that they happen. They're actually strategizing beforehand. Well, because the other way it wasn't working, Jeff. I don't know if you realize that.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Well, yeah, but I'm just surprised that the lengths people go to. They're setting up more unique dates. They're trying new online techniques. Even laying down first date traps to catch the perfect person. Traps. Like, oh, did I say this was a modeling job interview? Oops, sorry, I meant first date. Stupid auto-correct.
Starting point is 00:24:49 I thought you meant physical trap, like a net drop-blades. Yeah, yeah. I was picturing the same thing. I was totally going with one of those bear traps with the giant claws, like from the comics. Caveman runs out. God her, guys. There's no wrong way to find your soulmate. And one of our listeners emailed us saying,
Starting point is 00:25:04 she tested out a new dating theory that she found online called Optimal Stopping Math, which immediately sounds sexy. Oh, yeah. Optimal stopping math. What is that? Down for a little OSM girl. I mean, that sounds way better.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Nothing hotter than dividing the variable. of an isosos of a nice sauce at least try it. Can we get to her before you get two turned on? Oh, you don't want to solve for why with me, Brooke? I don't. I don't. I'm not into Pythagorean's theorem or whatever. Wow, some dirty talk from Brooke over there. Let's hear how it actually works, though, and talk to Tara.
Starting point is 00:25:43 She's the one who emailed Tara. I know this is a dating segment, but I would absolutely love to hear more about optimal math. How does that work? Okay, I know it sounds boring, but hear me out. What are you talking about? Sounds hot. This is for people who basically are tired of playing games and, like, texting forever. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:02 And it just basically cuts right to finding the right person for you. How? Okay. Are you making your own algorithm right now? I mean, the theory is you go on 25 first dates as fast as you can. With the same person and different people. It's a first date. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:26:19 So keep up. This is exactly how Jose did in math. Yeah. A word problem. I know. I already lost them. Okay. 25 different first dates as quickly as you can.
Starting point is 00:26:29 That's hard. Yeah. So you basically have 25 candidates to choose between. And you end up picking the one that's best for you to continue with. One out of 25? Yeah. Or 25 good to start with. It's a big wide net.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Well, I think that's probably the point. Like you date a bunch of people as quickly as you can and then you get a big selection to choose from, right? It sounds just like what the apps are already doing to me. It sounds like your college days, right? I wasn't looking for the one, Jeff. I was looking for the many. But it is different from the apps, though, because the thing is you need to meet all 25 guys really quickly, like, pretty much within a week. What?
Starting point is 00:27:10 Whoa. Wow. So how are we really like, well, I guess any. How are you doing this? Do you work? Yeah, so I do work, but here's how I do it. They're just coming to her office. Okay, wait, listen, listen, what?
Starting point is 00:27:22 The purpose of meeting them all so quickly is that basically, if you don't. don't do that, then the one you like is probably going to move on because we know in these online dating situations, it's fast, it's quick. Okay. Okay. You can miss out on somebody. Great. So how did you manage to go out with 25 people in one week? Okay, so this is what we did. Me and my girlfriend, we decided we're going to do this together. So we knocked out 20 first dates in one day. How? Oh my God. Yeah, that sounds like you'd have to plan. Like, you have like a spreadsheet for that? Yeah, that's a lot of things. So what we did was we found a location. that had two cafes across the street from one another.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Okay. Oh, my god. So my girlfriend, she had my Tinder and she was swiping for me. She knows my type. She was setting up basically 15 to 20 minute long coffee dates with these guys back to back to back. So you were just bouncing between cafes and you did two different cafes so that the guys never overlapped into the same place. Right. That's better than like sitting in one cafe and letting them roll through one after the other.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Yeah, it's like speed dating at that point. Dude, did you get caught? I mean, there's got to be one guy who lingered later or, you know, early. Yeah. No, it worked out great. Like, I actually met a ton of guys. Some of them did cancel. Some of them were kind of like duds.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Okay. But there was one that I liked the most. Okay. Who is that? His name was lull. L-O-L-L? Like a l-O-L in the conversation or? L-O-W-E-L-L-L.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Yeah. Oh, yeah. You got it. L-O-O-L. L-O-L? L-L-L. Low. Yes. Lowl. You've never met a lull in your life. No. Not under the age of 70, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:29:01 The low I knew was also very old. Okay. What made you drawn to him out of 20 different guys? So basically what was sweet about him was he arrived with a cookie, which I thought was really cute. Because in my profile, I say that I really love chocolate. Oh, that's cute. He had bribes. That's a good idea. You must have been buzzing on so much caffeine. It just dawned on me.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Yeah. Do you have to drink a latte? every single time. Yeah, you can't go to a coffee shop and not buy something. You say, yeah, right? I bought things other than the coffee. You know, I had, you know, treats. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Limping across the street by date number 19. They're cutting you off. He shows up with a little gift for you. I mean, obviously that makes him stand out from the crowd. Exactly. And I think, going back, I think he was date number 17. Oh, wow. So I was really glad that I could honestly, like, still focus by
Starting point is 00:29:54 that point because honestly the day was super exhausting. I know. One date sounds exhausting to me, let alone 17 in a row back to back to back to back. Terrible. I mean, were you able to hold a conversation? Oh yeah. We had a really great like 15 minute hang out. We've been texting afterwards and
Starting point is 00:30:10 I tried to set something else up but then in the last week I don't know he kind of cooled off or whatever. Wait, when we get him on the phone you don't want us to mention that he was the best of 20, do you? Because I mean some guys... No, no, no, no. Honestly, though, some guys may be flattered by that.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Yeah, guys are competitive. We want to know that we're the best out of a big group. There you go. Yeah, yeah. Tell me after I was the best. Not in the middle of it. I feel good knowing. I really just don't want him to know because I feel like he might find it really cringy.
Starting point is 00:30:39 I mean, it's way different. So, yeah. Okay. Well, we'll keep it a secret then when we call Lull for you and try and get you your... We have the right number, right? Because you have the one of numbers. No, it just dawn to me. What if his name is wrong?
Starting point is 00:30:51 What if we're calling him the wrong name? That's what I'm. I would do. But he's the only one I've been texting. Okay. All that's good to know. This is really interesting, an optimal stopping math experiment where Tara met 20 guys in one day back to back to back to back. We're going to call the one that she actually liked when we do your second date update right after this.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Going on 20 dates with 20 dudes all in one day. Wow. Wow. That's a big statement. It sounds like a Kate Hudson movie. Isn't it?
Starting point is 00:31:25 Yeah. Sounds like an episode of The Bachelorette. Oh, that can be too. But it's actually a dating theory called optimal stopping math. And it's what one of our listeners, Tara, set up for herself the other night with the help of her friend. She bounced between two coffee shops back and forth meeting 20 different guys over the course of a few hours to pick the one that she liked the best. And who was that? It was a guy named L-O-W-E-L.
Starting point is 00:31:51 He's spelling it for himself. I know. Because I will have a whole first. fit about it, but he came with a chocolate cookie for her. So Brooke is going to steal this guy if he doesn't agree to a date. I'm actually going to take his cookies.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Okay, rob him, whatever. I do not need another man, Jeffrey. I just need more cookies in my life. More chocolate. But we're trying to hook her up with Lull one more time because they've been texting, but hasn't been able to lock down a date. How you feel and before we call him, Tara?
Starting point is 00:32:20 I'm interested to see what he's going to say. I mean, curious, I guess. Okay, if this doesn't work out, are you going to call us back tomorrow for number two, dude? Yeah, wait a second best option? No, he's the only one I clicked with, honestly. All or nothing here. The odds are not good when you have 20 guys. Wow.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Tough. It's just one in 20. Well, let's call this guy, and we'll see if he picks up. Good luck to me. Here we go. Good luck to you. Yeah, I need it. To get through his name.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Just to say his name. Here we go. Hey, is this Loll? Yeah, speaking. Good job, Jeff. I did it. Okay. So you are Lull and we are a radio show.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Hey, Lull. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. What's up? Yeah, I know you guys. What's up? Oh, you do. Oh, good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Well, welcome on to our show here. We're doing a second date update today. Oh, okay. Yeah. That's a good thing. You know that. Because, I mean, somebody's trying to get a hold of you and you're not calling them back. Yeah, I guess I'm just thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:33:30 All right. This would be so crazy to get, like, you're just trying to process everything. That makes sense. It's a weird call. Don't hurt yourself thinking. We'll just tell you who it is. Her name is Tara. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Okay. You guys had a... Well, that's okay. I feel like the smile left his voice. No. It doesn't sound sad. I mean, you only had, like, a 15, 20-minute date. It's not like you guys had a big, long connection.
Starting point is 00:33:57 Well, I mean, there was some talking, I guess you could say beforehand. but yeah, you're right, more or less. What does she want to know? Well, basically she wants to know why she hasn't seen you again. Yeah. Well, I mean, I don't know what to say to her. Oh, really? To be honest.
Starting point is 00:34:16 What do you mean? I thought you guys have good chemistry, like easy to talk to. No, I mean, she was definitely cool. It's just, I guess you could tell her I know about everything. That would be a way to put it. Oh. Wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait.
Starting point is 00:34:32 What do you mean? Does it mean what we've been? No, no, no. Let him explain. What do you mean you know about everything? What do you know about? I know about the speed dating or the whatever. How'd you find out?
Starting point is 00:34:42 Oh, no. Tara's friends told me. What? Why would they do that? How do you know Tara's friends? Well, me, she texted me. It's weird. Apparently she's been texting me kind of the whole time.
Starting point is 00:34:53 Wait, who? Who's she? Tara's friend was texting me in advance of us meeting up for this coffee date thing. date thing. Why? She set up the date. That's the point. Okay. It's like a half catfish thing. I met the real Tara in person, but the person who I was texting and emailing back and forth was somebody totally
Starting point is 00:35:16 different. So wait, but how did you know it wasn't the real Tara that you were texting with? Well, because Tara's friend told me after the date. Oh. That's not a good friend. She just came out and was like, hey, by the way, I was the one that reached out to you, not Tara. We have to. two different phone numbers. No, it was stranger than that. It was more like, hey, guess what? Tara liked you the most, which was confusing because
Starting point is 00:35:38 I didn't know who was texting me at first, and then we got into it. I found out that there was 20 guys, 25 people speed dating thing. Oh my God, she told you the whole thing. So what do you say? You like Tara's friend or you're freaked out about the speed dating sitch?
Starting point is 00:35:54 I mean, the speed dating thing, whatever. There's weirder things that happen in life. And you were the best guy out of all 20 guys, so you should feel good at that if anything. You should lead with that. Nobody knows. I mean, sure. I get that. But, I mean, that's not really how I
Starting point is 00:36:10 think of it. It's more just the deceitful nature of it. Yeah, but you wouldn't have showed up if she said, hey, I'm going to try to line up 25 dates. You want to be one at 25? Probably not. No. She got you there. I mean, yeah, sure. I don't know anybody who would say yes to that. Okay. That's a good point. That's what dating is. I mean, sure, she would have gone
Starting point is 00:36:30 25 dates in a month and you would have been okay with that but just because she did it in an afternoon it's like the timeline okay no no that's not what i mean it's more okay look to put it in simplest terms i like the friend oh okay okay that's the real stuff right that i mean Tara was fine Tara's a good person whatever like nothing against Tara it's just she's not the one i thought i was talking to but you don't even know what we don't even know what terrah's friend looks like right I mean, no, but I'd still take somebody I haven't met in person who's at least admitting they are who they are. Some type of guy that likes women for their personalities? What?
Starting point is 00:37:09 What the heck? Jeffrey's like, loser. What is going on with you, Lowell? It's really nice, Lull. But I don't think that Tara's going to like that. Yeah, because if you listen, then you know that Tara's on the other line right now hearing this whole thing. The real, Tara, not the friend. Oh, yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:37:26 I don't know if she's going to be laughing, though, Terry, there? Yikes. Yeah, I'm here, and I'm just so confused because we had such a great connection when we met in person. Yeah, what about your friend, though, going behind your back and revealing the whole plan to him? Yeah, what the heck? That's messed up. I'm definitely going to talk to her about that, but, like, she's not interested in you like that. Like, you were, it was for me.
Starting point is 00:37:53 That's not what she said. Oh, uh-oh. Wait a minute. What did she say then? Ooh. Just that she'd like to see me for real. That's all. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:38:04 So this is cutting terror out of it. Yeah. I just don't believe it. You don't? I felt like we really connected. I'm just shocked. I mean, you're a very nice person. Don't get me wrong.
Starting point is 00:38:16 It's just the heart wants what it wants, something like that. Something like that. Oh, my God. You're just a mumble, mumble, whatever I got to say. I'm going to paraphrase here. I guess it's just the highs and the loals of the dating world. You said, if you like his name now, don't you? I hate it.
Starting point is 00:38:33 That was horrible. Yeah, that was a lull point in your career. That really was. So now that we've reached... I'm going to use that, though. I'm definitely going to use that. Feel free to use it on... Tera's friend.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Because we're supposed to offer to send you and Tara out on another date. I mean, you can at least give Tara one more try. You only had 15 to 20 minutes with her. You haven't even met the friend in person yet. But if Tara goes out with him, that's going to make her friend upset. Look, the first. bottom line is at the end of the day I had a stronger connection with the roommate who I was talking to for what like a week and a half two weeks.
Starting point is 00:39:03 Oh. Tara, I was, it was 15 minutes. It was basically hello goodbye. I mean, it's just that simple. I'd rather date her. I hope that's okay, Tara. I mean, your girlfriend was an amazing wing woman. Yeah, that's a lot of work.
Starting point is 00:39:17 She honestly should get a reward for that. The wing woman ended up taking over the whole plane though. Well, now we're wing womening her. Like, now it's like back and forth. You know, you wing, the wing and... There's too many wings. There's literally no one in the cockpit at this point. So I guess we need to get a answer from you, Loll.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Yes or no on dating Tara one more time, and we would pay for it if you met up with her again. I just feel like it would be disingenuous. I'm going to say no. Oh, wow. Oh, man. But you'll see him at your apartment this weekend. It sounds like Tara. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Not with you. Oh, no. You okay? Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just upset. Yeah. Tara, we're sorry. I know you probably feel really, really bad about how this ended.
Starting point is 00:39:59 But at least that joke that I said earlier was really, really funny. Yeah, remember it? That'll keep you laughing for like a month. Wow. The highs and the loles of your life. Yeah. You need to repeat it. No, this is a lull moment, yeah?
Starting point is 00:40:12 Okay, we're ending it on. I'm hanging up now. Yeah. I would do. I would do if I wasn't in person. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Starting point is 00:42:09 Oh, man, it hurts. There's going to be an awkward conversation because it sounds like the girls live together, too. Yeah, I heard the word roommate. Yeah, I did too. I believe that's called double jeopardy and it's worth twice as many points. Oh, are we still going on the math nerdy angle on all this? I don't really know. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:25 I just know it's doubly awkward for that friend situation.
