It's always a good sign when your date asks to speak to the manager, right?
Starting point is 00:02:48 Oh, yeah. Right at the beginning in the day, too. Right at the beginning. All right. We're going to get into that with a brand new second date. Welcome to the podcast. We're so glad you're here. Excuse me.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I'd like to complain. if you're going too well. I'm sure that's what it was. I'm sure that's what it was. Where's the drama? Yeah, yeah. All right. We're going to get to that in just a second.
Starting point is 00:03:04 But we love starting with your comments. And we've been doing on Sunday. We've been hosting our full show just once a week. We don't want to give you too much of us because I get it. Got me a day off here. Yeah. Even for myself. So what do you see, Alexis?
Starting point is 00:03:18 Yeah, someone said, hello. This is Eustace from Cameroon. I like listening to you guys while working on my spreadsheets. I'm a finance guy. I used to skip the one plus hour full sessions, but listening to this was rather amazing. Oh, they did it. All right. My mom loves spreadsheets.
Starting point is 00:03:35 I don't understand people like you, but there is a thrill in them. Yeah. And Camero, how beautiful. Yeah. I would just be the best place to be a financing. Right. A financial guy. Yeah, whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:03:46 We don't do Excel here. All right. Let's get into your brand new second date right now. Second date update. Brooke, you'd agree with me that it's important. important in the dating world to know what you want. Yeah, for sure. I think it's important in life in general.
Starting point is 00:04:02 But it's equally important to know what you don't want. Well, sometimes that's how you figure out what you do want, you know? Like Alexis, she does not want labels. Oh, yes. Even if one day down the road, she gets married, don't put a label on that. That's right. No, he's just my guy friend. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:19 And we live with you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There is. A lot of friend. Exactly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Bothered a couple children. Exactly. You know. I don't put a label on. that that's gross and one of our listeners knows exactly what she doesn't want and that's a second date with the guy
Starting point is 00:04:34 she went out with then why is she calling us she does want answers though she's mad she deserves that so let's talk to her Jenna welcome to the show hi everyone how did he block you and now you got to use us to tell him off yeah pretty much
Starting point is 00:04:50 I mean I'm just no I'm curious okay all right you're beyond Matt I'm beyond mad, and I hate that I am expending energy on this, but, like, it's not okay what happened, and I just need to know, like, what the heck. Okay, I think we need some explaining, because you sound really serious. I feel like I have all the information that I need out of that little convo, but if you want to give us some details, I'm cool with that. Yeah, like the guy's name maybe to start with. Yeah, what is his name?
Starting point is 00:05:18 His name is Peter. Okay. Oh, Peter. We hate Peter. Yeah. Peter sucks. Yeah, that should have been red flag number one. Oh.
Starting point is 00:05:26 There's some guy in Peter in his car, like, oh. Yeah. We're not all bad. Okay. Well, we'll give grace to most other Peters, but this Peter, we're not a fan. Yeah. Why? Why do we hate Peter?
Starting point is 00:05:37 So we met on a dating app, but I don't usually meet a lot of guys. Like, I'll talk to a lot of people just to, like, get a vibe or whatever. But I don't say yes to a lot of dates because, ew. Because, ew? Because, ew? You can meet some quality people on there, but that's rare. not what this is about exactly it's rare so you thought peter was quality in the beginning i'm assuming since you did say yes right and like he honestly should feel lucky that i said yes okay oh wow
Starting point is 00:06:08 you're a little out of his league or what at this point yeah okay but going in obviously you had a little bit of optimism for how the date would go so like what happened so when i feel like the person who's asking for the date should be the one who plans the date so that seems fair yeah i said that to him. He said he made a reservation. Fine. We decided to meet there because safety first. And we get there and he checks in with the hostess and they're like, oh, yeah, it's going to be 15 minute wait. And I was like, hold the phone. Oh, is that when you stop talking to him? 15 minutes isn't like awful. It's usually like five action. They say that too. That is true. Why are you saying hold the phone? Because if he made a reservation, we shouldn't
Starting point is 00:06:54 have to wait. No, but that's the thing about reservations. I've often had to wait for a res. But you're obviously not on the same level as Jenna is. So, you know, it's not fair to compare yourself in that way. Sorry about that, Jenna. So wait, you're already getting upset because you're waiting
Starting point is 00:07:10 and you think he's lying about making a reservation? Is that what you're... I wasn't sure because he was just like, okay with the wait. So I'm like, that feels iffy. Okay. You want the guy to step up and be like, excuse me. I may the reservation for this time.
Starting point is 00:07:26 I wanted him to handle it because you never know when 15 minutes can turn into 20 or 30 and like, I don't want to spend all night waiting for a table. So I ended up speaking with the hostess and then with the manager. Oh, God. So you're 15 minutes
Starting point is 00:07:42 into a date and you're already talking to the manager? Well, I didn't wait the 15 minutes. Like, I spoke with the hostess. She brought in the manager. I didn't ask for the manager. Okay. And Brooke, she's only doing that because her date is dragging his feet on doing it. He's just cool with whatever.
Starting point is 00:07:58 But it sounds like you're already starting to work yourself up. Like you're already starting to get upset. Like in a bad mood, pre-date maybe. I'm not in a bad mood. And if I was in a bad mood, it wasn't my fault. The restaurant put me in a bad mood by making me wait. My date put me in a bad mood by not fixing the situation. And after my conversation with the manager, magically, I was seated.
Starting point is 00:08:19 And I turned around and they got me a few free drinks. they offered me an appetizer. This is why complaining always pays off. Did this does feel like something you would do, Jeff? Yes. I've come out on top. Elite status. So are you and your date back on?
Starting point is 00:08:35 You're feeling good now. You're feeling cared for and everybody's happy, right? Well, I sat down and, like, I'm having my drink and I turn around and he's just gone. Like, he vanished without saying a word. Wait, what? Yeah, and I tried to call him. He's not responding. He won't answer text messages.
Starting point is 00:08:53 He won't pick a phone. calls. I mean, I did his job. Exactly. You put in all the work and now he's deciding to walk away. That's rude, right, Brooke? I, you know, I just... That's right. Yes. You are right, Jeff. This guy's a jerk. I'm imagining like my husband
Starting point is 00:09:07 going out with you on a first date. He would have been so mortified. Yeah. And embarrassed that he just wouldn't have wanted to even speak to the restaurant staff after that incident. So he probably just left. There's a clear line here. Some people are Team Jenna and some people.
Starting point is 00:09:23 People seem to be Team Peter in this room. I think I'm Team Restaurant employee. Yeah. I mean, here's the thing. Are you really that confused about why he left? Yeah, I want answers. I'm pissed. He wasted my time.
Starting point is 00:09:35 He wasted my energy. My makeup products, hello. And I mean, Brooke, sure. Maybe he didn't want to be on the day anymore. But shouldn't he have at least had the gentleman courtesy to say something to her? Be a man like your husband, I'm sure would have been. And ditched before he ditched you on the date? I'm just sure, but I'm guessing.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Thank you. That's all that we need. We don't need the butts. We don't need the bucks. This guy deserves to answer up for the cowardly move that he did by ditching him by not saying anything. Jenna, we're all on board with you despite the words you might hear. Thank you guys so much for your support. I appreciate it. We appreciate you, Jenna.
Starting point is 00:10:12 And we would love if you left a five-star review on our podcast when you're done with this. It would really go a long way. Okay, perfect. Let's wait until segment two before she actually. No, I wanted to put it now before segment two. Because who knows what's going to happen when we come back? We're going to call Peter, and we'll see what he has to say in your second date update right after this. Second date update.
Starting point is 00:10:34 The room seems very divided about this call with our listener, Jenna, who told us that she's extremely upset since her date Peter told her that he made dinner reservations. But they showed up, and the hostess said, well, actually, you're going to need to wait an extra 15 minutes. Wait, there's no scream after you said that, Jeff? Like, what? Jenna, Jenna didn't scream. She was just like, I don't understand why. I thought we had reservations for that time. I think she may have been a little more forceful than that, but yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Meanwhile, spineless Peter wouldn't say a word. So Jenna had to step up and calmly confront the manager herself. And guess what happened? She got results. Was seated immediately. Oh, I guess a table was available. And was even given. free drinks and food for her trouble.
Starting point is 00:11:25 And where was Peter? Who knows? Quivering Pete had dipped out without saying a single word. Those are Brooke's words, by the way. I hate when you just quote me like that. Yeah, that's true. And Brooke, I am just curious, though, because I was getting the vibe in the first part that you took issue with Jenna's approach to how she handled the situation.
Starting point is 00:11:45 And I'm just wondering, would it be different if they had a reservation and it was an extra 45 minutes, an hour, would her actions be warranted if the time length was different? I mean, those are all like what ifs. Like, that's not what happened. Because you know what I'm saying? Like, you know that I'm right. No, it's not. That's like hypotheticals and hypotheticals will always get you in trouble.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Okay, Jenna, I'm trying to get them onto your side. I'm doing everything in my power. They still want to be Team Peter for some reason. Brooke, I get the vibe that you don't support me and I've heard on your show that you support women. And honestly, I don't feel supported right now. Yeah, where are you today? What happened?
Starting point is 00:12:24 I just don't know that you should be so mystified that Peter's not interested. I don't think that's it, though. I don't think she's mystified about why he's not interested. She's just not understanding why he took the approach where he did without saying a word. He was rude. Yeah, I just want to know, like, what he was thinking to make such a cowardly decision to just leave without saying anything. We don't know what we're going to get if Peter answers the phone. All right, let's call him.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Let's see. Maybe he will own up to all the mistakes that he made that day, but let's find out. I bet you'll, I bet Jenna will be very kind and forgiving of it. We're not dealing with hypotheticals, as you so eloquently said earlier. So let's just take some real action and dial the number. Give you a hypo. That's another. That's enough.
Starting point is 00:13:08 I don't know from the peanut gallery. Let's get some answers. Here we go. Hello? Wow. Answered on the first ring. Yikes. What are you talking about yikes? Is this Peter? That is such a bad way to start a conversation. Peter, hello? Is this you?
Starting point is 00:13:29 Yeah, who is this? Well, you should know us because we're a very popular radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. You may have heard of us or... Jenna's really rubbed off on you. Yeah. It brought out the carrot. It feels good, actually. what is happening right now well what's happening is a segment called the second date update where we're trying to help out one of our listeners one of our very good friends it's true her name is jenna and you went on a date with her recently you almost went on a date with her i should say
Starting point is 00:14:02 well you waited five minutes with her in a restaurant lobby does this ringing a bell yeah yeah um that happened okay okay all right i'd love just your first impression of Jenna? I mean, she's pretty, she seemed cool on the app, and then I even went on to my way to call a buddy and get a reservation at a new restaurant. Oh, dude, you pulled some string. Most people don't even know how to do that. We heard that there were supposedly reservations that were made, but when you arrived
Starting point is 00:14:35 to the restaurant, things didn't go that smoothly. Yeah, look, I mean, it was swamped, okay? I mean, it's a new place. It makes sense for a new restaurant. There's, like, systems that they don't have in place yet. Sometimes they get behind. Sounds like they don't have their stuff together. No.
Starting point is 00:14:50 That's just a trend. It's totally normal for a new restaurant to not have all the peers working. Sorry to interrupt you there, Peter. Keep going. I don't know, guys. It was just pretty awkward because, I mean, we get there. And she finds out there's a 15-minute wait. I mean, my goodness, pretty much kind of has a temper tantrum.
Starting point is 00:15:11 She even said, like, do you? you know who I am? What? She said that? No. Yeah. Like she starts whipping out her phone, showing her 20,000 followers
Starting point is 00:15:22 she has and everything. Oh, she's an influencer. Or she just has like 20,000. 20,000 is not really an influence. No, that's pretty good, though. Yeah. That's just like. Brooke sounds a little bit jealous of her even.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Oh, Brooke, how many do you have followed you? I am not interested in how many followers people have. And I think that's such a weird flex. Right. So then it was just so awkward. and I just dipped. I was like, get over yourself. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:47 So is there a reason why you didn't tell her? Like, hey, man, that was too much for me. I'm leaving. I just couldn't be with a girl like that. You know, I'm like, get over yourself. I mean, I left and I had to, as I was going home, I had to, like, text my buddy, like, hey, I'm so sorry. I had to apologize.
Starting point is 00:16:05 No, Peter, sorry. Like, just so you know, like, I've seen mannequins with more initiative than you. Oh. Wait, what? Yeah. So, Peter. You couldn't figure it out. That's Jenna on the other line.
Starting point is 00:16:15 She's been listening to this call. Normally, we have them wait, but... She's not a patient girl, remember? Yeah, and I don't blame her either. That was kind of a long explanation on your end, to be fair. It was exactly what we thought had happened. Yeah, you could have summarized it a little bit quicker. But, busing out the phone...
Starting point is 00:16:31 But go ahead, Jenna. I honestly don't appreciate being mischaracterized. I am not... I never said, do you know who I am? Like, who says that anymore? I heard you say it. Oh, no. So what?
Starting point is 00:16:43 Maybe I did. Maybe I did it. But at least we got a table. You had one chance to act like a man and you went full-on NPC. What does that stand for? Non-playable character. Yeah, Brooke. Come on now. You're not a gamer.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Come on. It sounds like he didn't want to play. Yeah. I didn't. I didn't want to be a part of it. Right. But there's a level of decorum that usually comes into dates where you tell someone, hey, I don't know if this is going to work out or I got to go.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Just dipping out. What is he supposed to do? he's supposed to say something, and then Jenna is going to go nuclear on him and make a scene in the restaurant next and embarrass his buddy even more? Well, he apologized to his buddy, he apologized to the manager, and everybody except for Jenna. But why does she deserve apology, I guess is my question. Brooke, you're supposed to support women's rights and wrongs.
Starting point is 00:17:30 And wrongs. You know, women can still be a-holes, Jenna. I'm sorry. You're right, and you're being one right now, Brooke. Yeah, Brooke. Oh, Brooke. I don't understand why you're attacking. Jenna, she came to us for help you.
Starting point is 00:17:44 I'm not attacking anyone. It's just, I... You're calling her an A-Hol. Well, she's kind of being one, but yeah. Now you double down on it. Here's the thing. Like, Jenna, how could anyone calmly talk to you in that moment? We're talking about the wrong thing here.
Starting point is 00:18:00 Like, we need to talk about who gets done, and I do. Okay. I got us the table, and he did nothing. I mean, this is just outrageous. I mean, Jenna, you're a beautiful girl, but get old. over yourself. I'm just going to take that as an apology that you won't get over me.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Oh, wow. Okay. I like how you just take what you want. You know? I don't know how you got there. Jenna, what you're saying doesn't even make any sense. I mean, I just want an apology. I mean, I think that's a fair ass.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Just one tiny apology for all the trouble that Jenna had to go through to get her table. And then in return, will Jenna then apologize to the restaurant manager? The restaurant gave her free food? and drinks for their own mistake. They admitted they were wrong. They were 15 minutes late for her reservation. She didn't even wait 15 minutes, you guys. You know what?
Starting point is 00:18:50 At this point, I don't even just want an apology from Peter. I want an apology from Brooke, too. Oh, okay. All right, Brooke, why don't you be a good role model and show Peter how a good apology is done? I don't think it's healthy to apologize for something that you didn't do wrong. Oh, right? I'm not going to take blame for Jenna's behavior. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Well, maybe you should apologize for the outfit that you chose to wear. today because this is a pain to ever. It isn't like a snuggy. It's like a blanket. Jeff, for that? I am sorry. Okay. I'm sorry for that.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Jenna, I'm going to pass that apology over to you. Peter, now's your chance to apologize for ditching out on Jenna without a word. Ready, three, two, one, and? You know, when they say you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. That's why I left. And I just got to back Brooke on this. I mean, I can't condone bad behavior like that. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Yeah. All right. That was a long-winded way of almost saying absolutely nothing. Yeah, you could have just said I'm sorry. Jenna did not get what she won't. Anyway, Jenna, I'm so, so sorry that you had to go through all of this.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Do we offer her a date? Thank you. She didn't want one to start. Yeah, that's right. I mean, I'm a man of action like Jenna is, so I will take action and offer to put you two together one more time for another redo.
Starting point is 00:20:04 No, thanks. Okay, at least I tried. Yeah. At least I'm the only one in the room who did it. So, yeah. Did you hear that, Peter? I said no. you did.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Oh, you got it. Spineless Peter comes through once again. She wins. Oh, my God. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. On the podcast Health Stuff, we are tackling all the health questions that keep you up at night.
Starting point is 00:20:24 Yes, I'm Dr. Priyanka Wally, a double board certified physician. And I'm Hurricane de Bolu, a comedian and someone who once Googled, do I have scurvy at 3 a.m. On Health Stuff, we're talking about health in a different way. It's not only about what we can do
Starting point is 00:20:39 to improve our health. but also what our health says about us and the way we're living. Like our episode where we look at diabetes. In the United States, I mean, 50% of Americans are pre-diabetic. How preventable is type 2? Extremely. Or our in-depth analysis of how incredible mangoes are. Oh, it's hard to explain to the rest of the world that you, like, your mangoes are fine because
Starting point is 00:21:05 mangoes are incredible, but like, you don't even know. You don't know. You don't know. It's going to be a fun ride. So tune in. Starting point is 00:22:00 I know. Yeah. I know. And I have to be the one who steps up and apologizes for everybody on behalf of the entire show. Don't apologize for anyone. She didn't understand you're being sarcastic. No. She did not actually support her.
Starting point is 00:22:15 I think our listeners deserve a little bit of support, even if they're not right. Okay, well, you never tell them that they're not right. Well, that's just going to make them mad at me. You've got to play devil's advocate. Yeah. Someone needs to stand up for them, but I did take something away from it. 20,000 followers can get you free drinks and an appetizer. What?
Starting point is 00:22:35 We have way more than that, and we never get anything. I thought for sure it would be higher, like 40. But if it's only 20, I'm going to start pulling out my phone at a claim jumper. And I'm going to be like, excuse me, do you know who Brooke Fox is? I work with her. And if you don't want to be on her bad side, you will give me some free jalapeno poppers on the house. You show him my Instagram and you get charged more. I'm just telling me.
Starting point is 00:22:58 I'm not going to show him that.
