Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, what's up y'all? This is Eric Andre. Well, I made a podcast called Bombing about absolutely tanking on stage. I tell gnarly stories and I talk to friends about their worst moments of bombing in all sorts of ways. Bombing on stage, bombing in public, bombing in life. I want to know what's the worst way they ever bombed or have they ever performed way too drunk or high or was there ever a time where they thought they were going to crush and they stunk it up. Listen to Bombing with Eric Andre on Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Bombing with Eric Andre. Hey Will, do you ever get overwhelmed by how much science happens these days? Constantly. I'm like, ah, there's so much science, I can't keep track of it all. Then it's a good thing our podcast, Part-Time Geniuses, is counting down the 25 greatest science ideas from the past 25 years. That's right, Mango. We're talking animals. In a paper called, quote, chickens prefer beautiful humans.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Right. This was actually the title of the paper. I like this. They all discovered that much like humans, chickens are attracted to symmetrical faces. Got it. We're talking medical miracles. He's an endocrinologist who found a way to stimulate insulin-producing cells using, wait for it, the saliva of a Gila monster.
Starting point is 00:01:15 There's no way to make that not sound crazy. We even talked to some of the experts behind these breakthroughs. It's a week full of fact-packed stories you won't want to miss. So listen to the part-time genius countdown of the 25 greatest science ideas of the past 25 years, starting Monday, March 3rd on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's brick and Jeffrey in the morning You found the second day and we've got a brand new one for you in just a second But first we need to address something. Yeah, we have made Bevin Weber four four seven one very jealous Because of course the podcast is everywhere. It's on Spotify, it's on Apple Podcasts, it's on iHeartRadio, and it's also on YouTube. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Awesome. And Bevin wrote, it looks like the Spotify viewers are more important than the YouTube viewers. Oh, no. We knew this was going to happen, though. Because we don't as often read our YouTube comments. Yeah. Out loud. We read them though every day like on YouTube I would like to say that you are all like my children and I love you just the same differently
Starting point is 00:03:33 And she focuses on some of you more than others All right, hey, thank you wherever you're listening, please like subscribe and share it is so so wonderful to see we really truly appreciate it And bevin hey shout out to you. All right. Let's get this second date started second date update Brooke your husband is a collector of sports cards. He loves them. Are you kidding me? Does that make you more attracted to him or? Super more attract Does that make you more attracted to him or super more? When he pulls out that Michael Jordan rookie card
Starting point is 00:04:11 If only it wasn't rated a three Actually, I think it's a one because he wrote his initials on it when he was seven years old You just rub that card all his initials on it when he was seven years old. No, that's the worst rating you have ever had. You just rub that card all over your body, don't you? Because it doesn't matter. I mean, I can bend those edges as much as you can. I bring it up because one of our listeners says that the guy that she went out with mentioned
Starting point is 00:04:37 that he is a collector of items. Oh, that's cool. And it stopped her in her tracks. Oh, she liked it. It's a good collection. We'll find out more about that in just a second. But first, let's talk to Carly here. And it stopped her in her tracks We'll find out more about that in just a second But first let's talk to Carly here Carly you said in your email that the guy's name is Ethan How did you meet him? Yeah, we met on a dating app Whatever he collects part of his profile no, oh it wasn't listed
Starting point is 00:05:07 part of his profile? No. Oh, it wasn't listed. Okay. Nope. Okay. Like a nice little surprise for you. You don't say it with a smile on your face. Yeah. That no. Yeah, it was revealed like midway to the date. Oh, okay. Well, let's go chronologically then before we get to the collecting of stuff. Tell us more about Ethan and what attracted you to him. Yeah so initially his one-liner joke to me about he was the world's okayest cook and he had a picture of burnt grilled cheese. The fact that he could cook at all even if it is just okay is impressive. Well I mean it's a cute line and it's an easy way to then transition to let me cook you something mid Okay, so did your date involve cooking it did not know Alright, so tell us about what happened. So I mean, you know, we've been dating for like 10 11 days like not super long I mean talking right? Yeah, we were talking texting, you know 10 11 days
Starting point is 00:06:03 Yeah, we were talking texting, you know 10 11 days Okay in the build up to the actual first meeting. So what did you guys actually do when you went out? Well, we decided to meet up for dinner and we went to steak and shake It is? Okay. But milkshakes that are so good. It's like a knockoff shake shack for my real true lovers over there. Oh, okay. It's burgers and shakes and fries. So wait though, because it's like fast food. Was that cool with you or was that a disappointment? No, I was okay with it. I mean, he burns grilled cheese, so you know, low standards. Okay. You have burgers and upgrades.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Sure. All right. And how was the chemistry between you and Ethan? It was really good. He was super funny, super sweet. He held the door. He was like pulling out my chair. And you like that? Yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:06:55 I'm old school. I think people being polite is probably is pretty well received. I slam the door in their face. We all have different styles of dating. OK. He actually does that to me when I'm cutting into the studio, honestly. Learn to open the door in their face. We all have different styles Okay, so he does that to me Like learn to open the door for someone. I don't want to like get in the way of your womanhood and do anything We're equal in the work
Starting point is 00:07:17 So okay, so but you you thought that he was being a real gentleman on this date with you Carly I did for sure He was being a real gentleman on this date with you Carly. I did for sure So this is all sounding great. Was there something like you said the collection thing when did that come into play? Well, he just randomly was like I collect rubber ducks Okay, that's the item that he collects Ducks are huge right now. There is every type of rubber duck ever. Really? Yeah. How did you feel about it, Carly?
Starting point is 00:07:49 I was kind of like weirded out. I was like, what? And then he said he keeps them for emotional support. Oh, okay. Which makes it less weird. I didn't know that you could do that. Was that a joke? Yeah, he was like, it was a joke.
Starting point is 00:08:02 He was just kidding. Oh, okay, that's a good was a joke he was just kidding Everyone's trying not to judge Big sigh of relief alright, okay, although just to be clear. There's nothing wrong with having emotional support ducks if anybody out there We totally support Okay, but that was a joke, but the rubber ducks were real. is, we totally support it. Okay. Okay. But that was a joke. But the rubber ducks were real. Yeah, no, he has rubber ducks.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Okay. So why is this a big part of the date? Like, he mentioned it. You said he revealed it. Yeah, he had some, like, super funny one-liners like that one, and I laughed so hard that I snorted. Brooke does that, too. I do. And he kind of looked at me, like, really crazy when I did, and I snorted. Ah. Brooke does that when she's like, I snort too. I do.
Starting point is 00:08:45 And he kind of looked at me like really crazy when I did. And I was like, oh. Oh, but you can't control it. Yeah. It just comes out. It's just like a, what if you think it's too unattractive that it's a deal breaker? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Oh, no. Listen, he still walked me to my car and like kissed me and everything. Oh, that's good. The texting is just not the same. Like, I'm just getting those like little texts here and there And he's just kind of putting no effort to little effort into things I am obviously biased, but I think snorting is quite endearing So you're thinking that at the end of the night the kiss was a pity kiss
Starting point is 00:09:24 Even though like he didn't approve of your snort he was like okay fine I'll still just you know I hope not yeah you know people have weird things I thought so I have a guy friend who won't date women depending on their thumb size and like he thinks thumbs are really weird they like creep him out that is very very personal information to share about somebody Okay, we're not trying to body shame anybody like some people have weird it don't call it weird Unique deal-breakers Then he's not the guy for you is it possible that he's not calling you back
Starting point is 00:10:06 because you've got dragon thumbs? Anything's possible. It's Brooks' theory. Are you holding a phone with just your thumb right now? What does a dragon thumb look like? I know. It kind of looks like a big toe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Oh, gross. A long claw coming off the end. That's not gross. Let's just, okay, enough about the dragon body parts. Let's call this Ethan guy. We'll see if he picks up, and we will ask him all the questions to figure out why he's not going out with you one more Time Carly we need your second date update right after this second date update
Starting point is 00:10:42 Joining us I'm playing this song because our listener Carly went out with a guy named Ethan who told her that he collects rubber ducks. Aw. And he made the joke that he keeps them as emotional support pets. Again, just a joke, but he does collect them. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Which begs the question, how bad do you feel when even the rubber duck guy won't call you back? Oh, Jeffree. Don't say it like that, she's adorable. How bad do you feel when even the rubber duck guy won't call you back? Like that she's adorable do you consider this your rock-bottom car I mean if you're on this show, I think most people would yeah, that's the case I feel pretty low but not as well as you think I do. Yeah, that's true There is more phone call to come so we can always Suppose a hyper listeners uply, you're amazing. And you deserve a second date.
Starting point is 00:11:28 God, you see how much she struggled to get that sentence out? That was really inspiring. Also, we don't know what he's gonna say. She could be awful. I was gonna bring up the snore and maybe that's the reason he's not calling back. It is a good point. She did mention that she laughed so hard during the date that she snorted and that could have been a
Starting point is 00:11:44 turn off to Ethan Yeah, but we don't know which reminds me nobody be too funny during this if she starts snorting and then Brooke starts snorting Oh, yeah You guys are funny, but not as funny as him Well, that's really motivated me to try super hard for you Hundred percent effort into this I'm dialing his number right now. Let's see if he picks up. Here we go. Thank you guys. I really hope you can get another date for me. All right. Let's see. Here we go. Hello. Hey, we're looking to talk with Ethan Okay, this is Ethan
Starting point is 00:12:26 Hey, Ethan There's a bunch of us here Hello, yeah, this is a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. We're like a team very dysfunctional team And we're doing yeah, we are together and we're here doing a segment called a second date update Okay Yeah, we are together and we're here doing a segment called a second date update Okay Why are you calling me? Yeah, so it's a segment where we help out listeners who've gone out on a date with somebody But the second date hasn't materialized yet. We try and figure out why or if there's a reason
Starting point is 00:13:06 So okay, we're doing that for one of our listeners that you went out with named Carly Yeah, Carly I know Carly what does this mean? She mentioned you were a funny guy it's coming across dude It sounds like maybe you were planning on calling Carly back and going out with her again Uh, yeah, I mean, are you serious? Am I really in the air talking about this? Yeah It's a whole segment we have based around dating. It's pretty wild hoping you were just gonna say yeah He still doesn't trust us yet I know this is a weird situation to be in but Carly is seriously confused because
Starting point is 00:13:44 She says she had a great time with you, but she's not seeing the same amount of effort from you as she was before the date. We're not sure if anything's changed. Well, that's surprising because I'm not trying to blow her off. We had a great time. Oh, good. That's a good thing then. That is so cute to hear.
Starting point is 00:14:01 So you really liked her. Yeah, I thought she was great. She has a great laugh and we had a great time out She was actually worried about that yeah, so it sounds like you do want to go out with her again Well, we were texting about when we were gonna try to get together again I mean, I'm really just surprised right now that she saw it that way that I was blowing her off Really just surprised right now that she saw it that way that I was blowing her off Like God Did like actually be positive and and read everything in that way is hard She doesn't know you well enough yet
Starting point is 00:14:32 She doesn't know if you're gonna hit her up immediately or if a full day of not hearing from you is gonna be a horrible thing I don't know. Yeah, but everything that we're hearing right now sounds like you're into her Yeah, I think so. Okay. Think. Actually, you know what? Maybe I shouldn't be saying this. Don't tell her this. It's maybe too early. I kind of bought her perfume. You bought her perfume?
Starting point is 00:15:03 That's interesting. That's cute. That's cute! Like a travel size or full size bottle? Only Alexis did! You have to give a price tag that you can attach to it. Alexis needs to know. I think that's sweet! What made you do that? Is it like a birthday coming up for her or something?
Starting point is 00:15:18 Well, to be honest, my ex used to wear it and it kind of drove me crazy wild. Whoa! Oh, my God! My ex used to wear it and it drove me crazy wild You bought it because it's the same as your exes Yeah, that's Carly that's on the other line listening to this That's how this works. We usually call her in that is so weird He didn't know even the same as your ex are you for real I didn't know you were on Carly I didn't know you were on yeah yeah well I am and that's disturbing like why like okay seriously Brooke Alexis can you guys help me out on that I mean it could be worse he could have bought it because it's what his mom smells like. No! That would have been much sweeter. My mind did not even go there.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Wait, I think it's a good question. Why do you want Carly to be wearing that same perfume? Yeah, would it remind you of your ex? I like the scent. I thought she would smell great with it on her. Okay, okay, okay. Maybe, maybe there could be a different scent though for Carly, you know, like yes like my guy Husband is a set guy. He loves sense like you just maybe need to explore a different set But trots not trying to change men with every sentence Okay, I'm trying to read this and help you out here Ethan You're saying you didn't buy it because it reminds you of your ex You buying it just because you like the scent itself
Starting point is 00:16:50 That's right. This is not about my ex at all. She doesn't own the sense. She doesn't own the perfume Anyone could buy it. I love the scent and I thought Carly would smell great with it. I thought it was a nice gesture Carly are you hearing him? I'm I'm trying I'm really trying to be open mouthed But like I also I feel like when you smell a smell it you associate it with whoever was wearing it Yeah, but maybe you're a more powerful woman and he'll start associating it with you instead of her Do the scents on your body have different effects to? Literally it could have been anybody if his mailman had been wearing the perfume it would have driven him mad I mean I say fact here that like scent is the number one connection to memories like okay, but
Starting point is 00:17:32 Listen, he was never gonna tell her that it was the exes sent well. Yeah, I thought I was just talking to you guys I mean so technically we set him up for this yeah I mean Carly like you got to give him a little bit of I feel like you're you're not wrong I agree with you guys. I do think and when you put a scent on it does change like different body chemistry so fair enough So you wear it then because I really like it. Oh Is that very very important to you if you're gonna go out with her again? Like I said guys, I really like it.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Oh. What is the scent? Why is your voice do that? Yeah, but she's like vanilla. What is this? You had me up until there. I don't know, now I'm getting like creeps by. No.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Now let's hope you change the scent. Let's hope. Again, that's our fault. We're piling on. Yes. Okay? We are the weirdos Let's hope. Again, that's our fault. We're piling on. Yes. Okay? We are the weirdos in this conversation. He is totally normal.
Starting point is 00:18:29 I would spray another perfume on before he sprays that perfume on. That's a great point. I could wear it so you could smell it on me first. Oh, we don't. Wait. Oh, no. I don't think men with women's perfume is a real hot scent.
Starting point is 00:18:42 No. I'm starting to like this even more I'm very curious just as an experiment to see how the second interaction would go between Carly and Ethan both wearing the same scent My ex-boyfriend cologne. Oh! Perfect! How would you feel, bro? That is actually. I'll wear it, sure.
Starting point is 00:19:09 OK. OK. You still have brand new shoes. All fair in love and sense, I guess. Thank you for the other stuff. Ethan, the whole reason that we called you is to ask if you would see Carly one more time for a date, and we would pay for it.
Starting point is 00:19:20 I think, yeah, you need to ask a different sense. I would love to see her again. You are, okay. And Carly, are you still up for this, even despite what you've heard? I guess so, I'll give it a whirl. I'll give it a smirk. All right.
Starting point is 00:19:33 All right. Yeah, no. I'm a little bit surprised. Yeah, me too. I don't know, I think we did a good job. Yeah, I'm thrilled for you. You know, we really backed Ethan here on this one. Way better than if he had said she had dragon thumbs,
Starting point is 00:19:44 so that's... Yeah, good job, huh? This was actually a big thrilled for you. We really backed Ethan here on this one. Way better than if he had said she had dragon thumbs. So that's... Oh, thank you, Jahar. That was actually a big win for everybody. Can't come back from that one. No, you can't. Yeah. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Man, I'm just really happy that she didn't overreact.
Starting point is 00:19:56 When she jumped in kind of loud at first, I thought like, oh no, this is it, it's over. We're not gonna come back. You don't say that part out loud, man. Like, you buy the perfume and then you just leave it there like it Yeah, and I understand he didn't know that she was on the phone, but even to us, but let's just keep it It was like you said like it was kind of our felt because he confessed that he liked her and he felt comfortable enough with us To confide that the perfume thing was supposed to be a gift and then the ex-girlfriend also used to wear it. I will say I bet he would have told her just because in the 60 seconds we talked to him he let it out.
Starting point is 00:20:33 Yeah that's true. I like to think that it's more about like how comfortable people are around us that they're willing to open up. Not that he just has you know a blabber mouth. And also he didn't think it was a problem he's like oh yeah I'm just gonna get her the same set my ex-girlfriend always work as I love it then I'll call her Let's be honest the only reason any guy ever knows the smell of a perfume is because of some woman you dated Let's give credit to Carly who was able to hear him out and separate the ex from the smell and agree to a very very pungent second date. I'm worried about how pungent it's gonna be. Are they both gonna show up in the color?
Starting point is 00:21:11 They're gonna be gas masks when they meet up. But text in to 78592 and email the show if you ever feel like you need a little bit of help in your dating life. We can call that person who's not calling you back and go check out all of our second dates wherever you get your podcasts at Brooke and Jeffrey. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
