Well, I definitely learned something today in our brand new second date update. Yeah. I think we all did it. It's Briggit Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:02:45 And this woman has a very unique style of dating. I'm really, well, I don't want to get too into it because I don't want to spoil it for you. No, let us know what you think. Yes. Let us know what you think. Or have you ever heard of it before. I mean, that also, I would. like to know, especially to our international
Starting point is 00:03:01 listeners. Absolutely. We need you on this one. Because we love reading your comments when you see Alexis. Yeah, Brandon Martin said currently in the hospital, my wife just had our third baby. Shout out Theo Archer, but I'm still here to get my fix. On our YouTube page. Theo Jose Archer. What a beautiful
Starting point is 00:03:19 name. Three kids. Wow. That is so cool. Yeah, and you're still on our YouTube. Brook and Jeffrey YouTube. Yep, there it is. There it is. Well, congratulations. and make sure you give, you know, your wife all the flowers she deserves. That was a lot of work there, especially the third time around. All right, let's get your brand new second date update started right now.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Second date update. What are the classic signs that your date is not going well? Maybe they keep forgetting your name. Yeah. They ask the waiter for separate checks before you even order. Oh, that would hurt. Or they FaceTime their mom trying to host. hook you up with her instead.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Oh. What the heck? I mean, you'd kind of like that, wouldn't you? In my case, they might be upgrading. Yeah. I've actually FaceTime many mothers on dates because they like the show. Maybe it's not as bad as I thought, but our listener, Noah, said he saw clear signs immediately on his date that things were just not going right.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Immediately. That means she's not even giving you a chance. Let's hear from them. Noah, welcome to the show, man. Hi, hi. Thanks for having me on. God, immediately, this is terrible. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:27 I'm kidding. Remind you your dates, bro? Yeah, so tell us about the name of this lady and how you met her. Yeah, yeah, so her name is Sophie. Okay. And we met on a dating app. All right. When I saw her picture, I mean, she's totally my type.
Starting point is 00:04:44 She's got these beautiful brown eyes, long, dark hair. Okay. I mean, to be honest with you, I just felt like I was lucky that she matched with me. Aw, that's a nice compliment. Yeah, for her. Kind of thick there. Oh, well, okay. He likes your job.
Starting point is 00:05:00 You know, and we started, like, messaging really quickly, and the messaging back and forth was good, and it was natural. And I got the impression that she's, like, a worldly person. Like, she travels a lot? Yeah, like, she's a traveler, you know. Like what, from her pictures that she was traveling? No, no, just like the way she was talking, you know, she would, like, bring up weird facts about, like, countries and stuff
Starting point is 00:05:25 or talk about. She's smart. Loving to go on vacation. and things like that. Yeah, that's cool. That's good. And you like that about her, obviously. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:05:34 I mean, I admit I haven't really traveled much in my life, but I like that. You know, and I like somebody to know stuff. And maybe that's somebody who will, yeah, introduce it to you. Sure, yeah. I mean, I was all about it. And eventually it got to the point where I was like, well, do you want to meet up in person? And she said, yeah. And she said she wanted to go on a European date.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Does that mean dinner starts a. at 11 p.m.? It was kind of a weird thing, right? Like, I didn't exactly know what that meant. Like, actually in Europe and travel there, or just a European-style cuisine? No, I didn't get the impression she wanted to go to Europe. She said a European, you know, go to like a European play. And she mentioned Scandinavia.
Starting point is 00:06:19 That was the thing. It was like Scandinavia, like the Nordic countries or something. Okay, let's go have some pickled fish. Oh, there's a Scandinavian coffee shop here. That's really good. Or maybe she wanted to go Dutch, meaning she wants to split it equally. That's an elaborate way. I'm literally way.
Starting point is 00:06:36 And I didn't want to, like, ask anything because I didn't want to seem, like, dumb. You know, I didn't want to seem like I didn't know what she was talking about. Uh-oh. Yeah. Well, I just sort of pretended that I knew what she was talking about. Wait, and you're going to have to plan a date without knowing what she wants? Like... Yeah, I mean, I have a history of this.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I mean, in college, I took a girl out, and she said she had a gluten allergy, and so I didn't know what that meant, so I took her to an Italian restaurant. We just can't go to German because that's gluten talk. Gluten talk. Yeah, okay. Better to ask forgiveness and permission, I guess. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:07 This is what I do. Okay. And so I just rolled the dice and I made a reservation at a couple of different places. And I just figured I'd let her pick. You know, and I was even worried, like, my car's a Japanese car.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Like, should I rent a European car? Get out of here. Get out of here. You're taking this too far. She cared that much she'd move there. Yeah. You're, like, way up in your own head before you've even actually met her in person. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Did you eventually meet her? I did. So she wanted me to pick her up at her apartment, and she looked just like her picks. Oh, cute. Good sign. Okay. And then where does it go bad? Because you said it went, you got bad signs immediately.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Well, so this is where it started getting weird. So while I was at her place, I told her that I made some dinner reservations at European restaurants. And she said, I don't know if we should do that. Huh? What? It's kind of a weird thing to say, right? So I said, well, should I cancel the reservation? Well, like, what do you want to do?
Starting point is 00:08:04 And she was just sort of noncommittal, you know? She said she was pretty tired. Didn't that annoy you? I'm sorry. But, like, you went through all this trouble, and she's being kind of rude about it. In her house. Well, it was less annoying and more just weird because she had confirmed a half hour before this.
Starting point is 00:08:23 And she said that she was, like, ready to go to bed. Oh, like the night's over. What? Like Alexis said, you're inside her apartment and she's canceling the date in person. Yeah. Yeah. So I was starting to get worried that maybe I didn't look like my pictures or something. You're like, did I accidentally catfish this woman?
Starting point is 00:08:44 Right. I didn't think I misrepresented myself, but I just didn't know what was going on. Or maybe she has a certain standard of European restaurant that she wants to go to and the ones that you chose weren't up to that level. Or maybe she was asking you. you to go to bed with her immediately. Brooke, that's just how Brooks' brain works. Maybe you were so sexy that you walked in and she's
Starting point is 00:09:05 like, oh, I am tired. Skip the dinner. Yeah. I was lying if I said that thought didn't briefly pass through my head, but that was not the vibe I was getting at all. Okay. Okay. So did you end up going out to eat anywhere? No, I only spent like 15 minutes there at her apartment and eventually I said, you know, I'll just go
Starting point is 00:09:25 and so I left and I've been texting her but she hasn't been responding and I really want to go out with her but I figured like maybe I screwed up somehow and I just don't know how well obviously you did but I just don't know what it was it's our fault for sure it's hard to like think that you should even give this girl any more time because of the way she treated you but at the same time it sounds like he wants to know what the reason was before he finally moves on And it also sounds like she's really hot, so he'll put up with a lot. She's really hot. Yeah. Okay, well, we're going to come back. We'll call Sophie and try to get her to agree to, I mean, at least an American date. All the fast food coupons she can handle. We'll do it right after this.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Hold on. Second date update. Out of all the dates that we've heard about this year, this one might be the shortest. Just 15 minutes that Noah spent with Sophie. Yeah, and most of it was spent talking about how she didn't want to be in it. Yeah, we're trying to figure out which European restaurant they should go to if they go out at all. It wasn't a very productive conversation until eventually she just said, you know what, I'm tired. I'm going to go to bed.
Starting point is 00:10:44 And that was... And not even like, come with me. No, just like, I'm sleepy. That was basically it. Now, to be fair, Noah did say she is very hot, and hot girls do require more beauty sleep. So we should probably give her a little bit of grace on that one. Is that how it works? So I've heard.
Starting point is 00:11:00 She must be like a koala. I will say I feel like I dropped a couple points since kids, and it's not because of anything other than just the lack of sleep. Oh, just a couple points? All right. But I think Noah deserves it to at least get some answers out of this, right, Brooke? Yeah, I mean, I don't know that you should probably go out with her again, but. What do I know? Why are we calling her then?
Starting point is 00:11:23 Hey, what if he did something wrong? We don't know. Well, that's the thing. I just want to know if I did do something wrong, what it was, and maybe he'll give me a second chance. Okay. But remember, no matter how hot she is, self-respect is priceless. Blah, blah, blah. Half of our listening audience just tuned out.
Starting point is 00:11:40 So thank you for that comment, Brooke. Here we go. I'm going to dial Sophie. Hopefully we can get her to agree to, if not a European day, just an American-style one. But let's see what she has to say. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Sophie?
Starting point is 00:12:04 Yes, this is she, who's this? Hey, this is a radio show that you're on right now. It's called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. What? Hey, welcome to the show, Sophie. Hello, good morning. Glad to have you on it. This is random.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Yeah, a little bit. Every time it is random. How did you guys? How did you guys get my number? Yeah, we got your number from one of our listeners that you went on a date with recently, a guy named Noah. Okay. I don't know if we could even say you went on a date.
Starting point is 00:12:32 He came to your house to take you on a date. Yeah. It just never seemed to happen. Yeah. Right. Yeah. According to him, because we spoke to him about it, it only lasted. He said about 15 minutes.
Starting point is 00:12:44 And he was pretty bummed out. That's where it ended. Yeah. What is this whole thing about? How am I involved in this? This is a segment called a second date update. It's where we try to help our listeners get answers for why things didn't go well on their first meetup or why there hasn't been a second one. So we're just trying to help Noah figure out if he did something wrong.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Yeah, because it's pretty easy to own that it could be him. I mean, and it is interesting that you said you were bummed out that you didn't spend more time together. you elaborate what you mean? Sure. Like I tried to give him some hints about what I want for our first date. And I kind of told him I wanted to do a European-style date. Okay. Yeah, we heard that.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Oh, he told you that? Yeah. He mentioned that you had brought it up and that it was something you wanted to do. He wasn't 100% sure what you meant by. a European date, though? So I tried to, like, give him more hints. Like, I brought up, like, Scandinavian date, Norwegian date. Right.
Starting point is 00:13:58 I, like, listed those three things and was hoping if he didn't know, maybe he'd Google it. Here's a deal. Like, after college, I traveled a lot. Yeah. And I became more used to that style of dating. Are you guys picking up what I'm putting down? Because he definitely did. No.
Starting point is 00:14:16 No. No. What's a European style? of dating. Yeah, what do you mean? So, I know this is like on the radio. I don't want to be inappropriate, but when you go on a first date, you're with that person, you hang out at like their home or your home and then you go out and eat. Do you mean more than hang out? Yes. So like, it's the opposite in America where you have to like play games and have small talk, try to impress each other. But in Norway, you like get together, get all.
Starting point is 00:14:48 all of the nerves out. Okay. You test the chemistry right away. Yeah. So it's like a pre-agreement, like you come over, let's... Or is this just because you were a tourist there, seeing hot eyes there, and this is how it went down. It could be. It's like, the Norwegian
Starting point is 00:15:04 men are like, no, we swear this is how we do it. This is what we do. Everyone does it. You're saying that's what you were wanting to do by European date? Oh, my God. Yeah. I mean, I thought he knew that's what I wanted, but he just didn't seem interested when he got married when you did say when you said oh i'm tired i need to go to bed you wanted
Starting point is 00:15:24 him to come with you yeah okay okay interesting wow i don't know that that did not show up on a google search no yeah i i promise you he was not understanding the hints that you were laying down for him but i was ready for dinner he really was a european style dinner but now i assure you he probably understands because he has been listening to this conversation on the other line waiting to talk to you. Are you joking? No, I'm not. He may be home the way to your house right now. Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Why are you embarrassed? Wouldn't you want him to know this? Not now. I feel horrible. Well, don't feel terrible. Just talk to him because Noah's there, right? Noah? Hi. Yeah. Hi. Yeah, I'm here. He's like biggest missed opportunity of my
Starting point is 00:16:16 life. Yeah. Well, I'm Hi, Sophie. Hi. I'm trying to understand you wanted to, like, you know, do the thing and then go to dinner? His voice got so high. I tried, I really tried giving you the hints, but if you do it that way, the Norwegian way, then all that pent up tension is gone and you can really enjoy each other's company and get to know each other on the date.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Oh. I am going to be so fascinated by our Norwegian listeners. feedback on the podcast on this one. Actually, that does make a lot of sense. If you get all the stress out early, then you can just be yourself more when you're hanging out. Out of anyone? Well, I'm not saying I would do it, but it's not saying I would do it.
Starting point is 00:16:58 But it's mentally, it makes sense to me. Like, you're more relaxed for your day. I think a lot of guys would leave after that. Yeah. Well, no, I'm tired. Noah, what do you think about that? Well, I mean, I think it's cool. It's just kind of surprising.
Starting point is 00:17:12 I mean, because I just had never heard that, you know, but I mean, sure, I'm down for that. Okay, well, that was then. The moment has kind of passed now. You're not going to give a guy a chance to learn the Norwegian way? I just don't know if he's as assertive as I want the person I'm dating to be. I mean, I think he was trying to be respectful, right? Like he was trying to.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Yeah, I just didn't want to like assume anything. I just, I think you're gorgeous and I just really wanted to. do my best to do the right thing. But if you want me to be assertive, I mean, I'm ready to take you to Norway whenever you want. That's a weirdest offer. It sounds so bad.
Starting point is 00:18:02 I will say I do think it's kind of sweet that even though I didn't really explain it to you, you still got these radio people to contact me and to figure it out. And I think that's kind of cool. Okay. Well, I mean, that is a lot. they do it in Europe.
Starting point is 00:18:19 All our European listeners are going to be like. This is a total insult to our entire continent. Well, Sophie, now that Noah has heard everything and he's fully clued into what you were going for, would you be willing to give him another chance to have a proper European first date with you? Because if you do, we're willing to pay for the date. Just the date, though, nothing else. Look, Sophie, I will do all the research on Norwegian-style dating. I will call a Norwegian.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Is that like phone a friend? Yeah, I will phone a friend. I will make sure that I am prepared and it'll be the best date you've ever had. Oh, there's a promise. Okay, that's a lot to live up to. I'm definitely down to try again. Yay!
Starting point is 00:19:10 Dude, you got to just show up with a bare minimum on, you know what I'm doing? Run to the bedroom right when she opens that door. He's got a Norwegian trench coat. Oh, my God. Well, congratulations, Noah. You got yourself, I guess, a first date. Bro. First European-style date for yourself. Thank you guys. It's Sophie, like, before we get off here, like, should I go on Amazon and buy, like, a Norwegian flag? Because I'll wear that and only that. Just let me know.
Starting point is 00:19:41 That's hilarious. I'm open to surprises. Oh, wow. Oh, right. Ready for a full salute of that flag. That's right right up the flagpole. Well, congratulations. Definitely let us know how the first date goes. Not all the details, though.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Yeah, just a video will do. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. My name is Ed. Everyone say hello, Ed. Hello, Ed. I'm from a very rural background myself. My dad is a farmer, and my mom is a cousin. So, like, it's not like...
Starting point is 00:20:10 What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reaction. nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. On 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house.
Starting point is 00:20:41 So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wise Crime. where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. The holiday rush. Parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Then, at 6.33 p.m. Everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances. Just a chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay. Terrorism.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Law and order, criminal justice system is back. In season two, we're turning our focus. to a threat that hides in plain sight that's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of law and order criminal justice system on the IHeart Radio app, Apple
Starting point is 00:22:00 podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Brooke, you ever feel like you were born in the wrong country? Oh, man. I feel like I maybe have done Norwegian dating and not even known it. Yeah. It seems more like you're style.
Starting point is 00:22:18 The calls like this make me feel like, oh, I should have been Scandinavian. I knew it. And by the way, I did Google it. I typed in Norway sex. And a lot of things... Do not type that in. I wanted to do my research. And a lot of things came up.
Starting point is 00:22:33 And it did say casual intimacy is more common in Norway than it is in other cultures. Isn't it kind of that whole region up there that hate small talk? Aren't they also hotter? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I told you. I belong in Norway, right? Some people believe that style of dating actually really helps.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Not everybody agrees with it, though, to each their own. But I feel like Columbia was the big tourist destination for dudes last year. Norway is going to be seeing a big uptick after this goes to air. It's probably just because they were trying to get hair transplants. Whatever it is. I'm on that plane, too. But you want some help in your dating life, European or American style? We'll try to help you out.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Just email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling you back and go check out all of our second-day podcast.
