Starting point is 00:03:16 For real. This is a sports podcast for one weekend. Yep. I hope you enjoyed it. So now we're going to get back to what we actually do well. And that's, I don't know if I would say fixed dating people's lives. But, you know, We're there when they do it.
Starting point is 00:03:30 So let's get to your brand new episode. It starts right now. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. We've got a return listener today who you'll remember when I say just two words. What? I say strawberry blowout daily now. He's that memorable.
Starting point is 00:03:48 It's our old pal Clark who last time we spoke to him, he took a woman to a strawberry festival where disaster struck multiple times. thanks to a strawberry shortcake stand that first ran out of berries, then ran out of whipped cream. I literally didn't even remember where strawberry blowout came from, but I love it. It was a lot worse place than you thought. That's right. It was the shortcake.
Starting point is 00:04:10 So that was happening. Meanwhile, his Roomba was texting him that was stuck and needed help. And all that led to basically no second date. But Clark isn't a guy who quits. That's why he's back today with a new woman and a new type of blowout that we're going to learn about soon. Clark, it's good to hear from you again, man. Welcome back. Oh, I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:04:31 I'm trying. I'm kind of seem to be a swing and a miss here, but yeah, I'm glad you can help me out. Gosh, Clark, you are so wholesome. Oh, my goodness. In a good way. Yeah, for sure. We're excited to hear about who you met this time. Yeah, who's the new woman in your life?
Starting point is 00:04:46 Well, so I had been dating Bumble. I got off that, and I decided to try Tinder, and I met Maria on Tinder. Whoa, leveling up, bro. Oh, good job. No, no, I know what you're going to say, but I really, it's not so much a hookup app anymore. Okay. Every. I see, it's like, not here for hookups.
Starting point is 00:05:04 When people say that, is it the same as saying, I never do this? Yeah, probably. Yeah. That's right. That's a good point. I mean, that's not what you're there for, Clark. And you said you met Maria? Yeah, and I met Maria on there.
Starting point is 00:05:16 And really where we got connecting was that I talked about in my profile that one of the things I like to do is a hobby is cook meals from different countries that might be kind of fun or difficult. That's really fun. Exotic cuisines. And it's even more fun if you get to go to like the cool grocery stores that feature that type of food.
Starting point is 00:05:37 What type of foreign cuisine did you bond with Maria over? So Greek food. Nice. I was just learning how to make the gyro meat and all of that. I think that's out. Yeah. We're going to label this one the gyro blowout. Yay.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Did you invite her over to your house? No, I joked with her. I said, hey, well, let's go out for Greek food. And if it goes well, then we've got two big dates planned, right? The second one will be, I'll cook for you. Oh, so you'll go out for Greek and then you'll cook Greek. And I bet what's nice is if she's truly looking for something more serious, it's nice to hear that from a guy, right?
Starting point is 00:06:15 That you are already thinking ahead. I mean, I hope so. Yeah. Are you sure? Because when most people talk about a Greek meat on Tinder, it means something totally different. Some like bathhouses are involved. Oh, a little Spanacopoda. No, trust me, like, as far as the Greek meat, we didn't go down that road.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Okay. All right. Tell us about your Greek meat. What did you do? We actually went to kind of a more upscale place. Cool. She just looks absolutely amazing. Oh, that's so sweet.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Yeah, get specific. Go ahead. What? That was weird. No comment on that. She just looked really great. And we immediately just started talking and really cool. really cool right away.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Then a friend of mine and his fiance come into the restaurant, and he's a really good friend of mine. And I was kind of excited to see them. So we were, you know, we were getting toward the end of our meal. So I didn't think it would be a big deal. I was like, hey, do you mind if they just sit with us for a little while? And she was totally cool with that. I know the way Alexis reacted to that that makes me feel like she isn't cool with it. What do you think, Alexis, inviting someone to join your date?
Starting point is 00:07:22 Is that a bad move? I don't know. I mean, I guess it depends how your friends are. Maybe they're really cool and fun. Why? Why do you read it as? It's just more you're stuck having to small talk with two new people now instead of just your date. Actually, it ended up going a little better than I thought it would.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Like the chit chat was good. Everybody was getting along. Okay. Okay. Now we get to the issue. Uh-oh. Oh, there was an issue. She gets up and she goes to use the restroom.
Starting point is 00:07:49 And when she gets back, there's a waiter who comes up and starts hitting on her. And he was not our waiter. That is so rude. How do you know he was hitting on her? What was he saying? You know, I couldn't hear exactly what he was saying because I was kind of caught up in conversation,
Starting point is 00:08:05 but I could see it out of the corner on my eye. Ah, body language. Oh. They just started making out. That was a tell. No, I mean, you know, the way people smile at you or how they get a little too close if they want to talk or something.
Starting point is 00:08:21 And I'm like, oh, no, not cool. This is not going to happen. Oh, no. What did you do? Oh, no. I don't remember exactly what I said, but I was just like, hey, man, we were together. Oh. Ah.
Starting point is 00:08:33 You said enough. Okay. So you were kind of rude to the waiter. Not my waiter. Somebody else's waiter. But being rude to anybody is in a great look on the first day. We're not even the rude. Just interrupting her, like talking on her behalf.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Like, she can't say it herself to the waiter. Like, you have to step up and do it. I mean, the thing is, I could tell by the look on her face. She didn't know what to say. because this guy totally ambushed her. Okay. So if she appreciated your help, did she thank you afterwards? So we get outside and I told her,
Starting point is 00:09:01 hey, I'm so sorry that happened. But hey, I said, next weekend, when I cook for you, you know, no one's going to hit on you but me. Oh. Is that supposed to be like a funny comment? Well, yeah, yeah, but the weird part was she was just looking down at the ground, not saying anything. And then she leaves and now doesn't respond to my messages.
Starting point is 00:09:23 So either she was still freaked out about the waiter incident or she was freaked out about your response to it. It was something with that waiter. I mean, yeah, you're probably right. But I hope she knows all I was trying to do was stand up for her. Sure. Yeah, but it could also come off as jealous on your part. Yeah, some are like the guy who's like that.
Starting point is 00:09:43 And some are like, that's red flag. Why does it seem like the strawberry blowout was a much easier situation? Absolutely. But now we're going to have to put the gyro blowout back together. when we come back and call Maria and figure out what really happened at this Greek restaurant. Yeah, I like Greek meat better than gyro. I'm just saying. If we're going to give it a nickname.
Starting point is 00:10:03 The Greek meat gyro blowout. Part two is coming up with your second date right after this. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Is being rude to a waiter okay if it's not your waiter? No. No. Well, our listener Clark, who's back with us again after his strawberry festival,
Starting point is 00:10:23 He doesn't think he was being rude at all when they were at a Greek restaurant because his date was coming back from the restroom when a waiter from a totally different section of the place approached her and according to Clark was clearly given off flirty vibes. Now he couldn't hear what was being said. No. But the vibes seemed flirtatious enough and she didn't seem to know what to say. So Clark chimed in something like, hey, Dionysus, she's with me back off. Something along. Is that a New York Italian accent that you have happening in a Boston thing? Good job, Brooke.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Yes. You nailed it perfectly. New York Italian Boston. Perfect. Now, no, Clark doesn't remember exactly what he said. But afterwards, the vibe definitely changed where he didn't get a hug and now is not getting a call back. And he thinks it might be that random waiter's fault. Everything was going so great before that.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I mean, Clark, have you heard from her at all or it's been total silence? Total silence. Oh, gosh. That's not great. Or she's playing super duper, duper hard to get. Or she's on a date with that waiter. Oh, yeah. That would be the worst case scenario. Let's find out what it really is. We're going to call Maria here. We'll see if she answers and hopefully can clear things up for us.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Clark, you ready? Yeah, I'm ready. I mean, I just want some answers. I hope this was just a misunderstanding. Yeah. Yeah, totally. I mean, plus, you've already said that you want to cook her a meal. You've already made it, and that Greek meat is going to go bad if we can't get you a second date. here.
Starting point is 00:11:53 No one's sour Greek meat. I was thinking we could even make sizzle sound effects. Oh, yeah, but be careful. Any, like, food noises is going to get Brooke totally off of her games. Totally excited about something else. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:12:07 That's why we just need to focus on the facts here. We're going to call Maria. A euro sounds so good. Look what you've done, this is your fault. Okay, let's just tell Maria. Hopefully she answers and has some explanation. But here we go.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Hello? Hey, we're looking to speak with Maria. This is her. Hey, Maria. Thank you for answering. We're a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hey, Maria.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Hi. Hey. Oh, hi. Hi, guys. Hey. You do sound lovely. She sounds so nice. I'm hitting on her, Brooke.
Starting point is 00:12:44 The way that you say hi, very lovely. What is this about? This is about a segment we do called a second date update where we try to help out listeners. If you've gone out with someone and you're not getting a call back, you can reach out to our show. and we'll get a hold of them to see if there's a reason why. Oh, my God. Okay. Exciting, right?
Starting point is 00:13:07 Maybe, possibly. See? I mean, it sounds like you've been on some dates recently, probably one with a guy named Clark. Oh, yeah. I remember that date. Oh, yeah. The Greek meat date, right?
Starting point is 00:13:21 We heard about you and Clark going to the Greek restaurant, and we understand, according to Clark, there was a little bit of an awkward interaction there, but we'd really like to hear your side of it. Oh, he didn't mention how he was so rude to the waiter. Oh, that's the awkward interaction. Yeah, we heard about that, but it seemed like he felt a little justified in his actions. Oh, no, there was no justifying.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Basically, what happened was I got up for my seat because I had to use the restroom. And when I was coming back from the bathroom, our waitress stopped me, and she was like, hey, I'm leaving for the day, but I'm going to have. my co-worker come, his name was, I think his name was like Nate. Nate was going to come and like serve us. Okay. That makes sense too, because it sounds like your time got extended because the friends showed up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Yeah, exactly. So Nate comes over and he asks me if I would like another glass of wine. Wait, that's all he said? He was asking for your order? Yeah, he was like, smiled at me and he was just like, hey, you know, he introduced himself. And that's when Bark and his big mouth went over and said, hey, if you're going to flirt with my girlfriend, at least fill my glass off.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Whoa. Wait, did he say those words, girlfriend? Oh, I'm sorry. No, not girlfriend, but he was like, basically, if you're going to flirt with my girl. Oh, my gosh. It's embarrassing. I was, like, really appalled.
Starting point is 00:14:43 I totally am with you there, but in Clark's defense, he did not know that was your waiter. But even if it's not our waiter, like, you don't disrespect someone and be rude. But according to Clark, he was being rude by coming over randomly in his eyes and trying to make a move on you.
Starting point is 00:14:59 But it's like, why didn't Clark come over and say, hey, Maria, is everything okay? Yeah. Right. Clark needs to know how to communicate. Okay, but in defense of communication, why didn't you tell him? Even if his friends were there,
Starting point is 00:15:12 why didn't you just quickly say, hey, this is our waiter. Yeah. He's just getting my glass of wine. Like, chill out. Yeah, that could have cleared everything over. I mean, to be honest, this is the first time I'm meeting his friends.
Starting point is 00:15:23 They're all in like a huge conversation. And also, like, just the way, He spoke to the waiter. It just drew me off. And so I just got quiet. I didn't know what to really say in the moment. That is going to be embarrassing to hear what the waiter was actually saying. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Okay. So this is definitely a new layer of the story that we hadn't heard before. And certainly Clark didn't know because he's on the other line listening to this right now, probably hearing all this for the very first time. Why didn't you tell me that? Well, I don't know. It was just I got confused for a second and I didn't know what to see. say in the moment.
Starting point is 00:15:59 All my friends are here and I don't want to embarrass them in front of everybody. So I just, you know, I let it go. I think, Maria, I think this is something that Clark needs to hear. So I think you're maybe doing him a favor. It's clarifying. Clark, are you there?
Starting point is 00:16:14 Yeah. Okay, listen, Maria, first of all, I didn't know that guy was our waiter. Yeah, we know you didn't know, bro. Maybe we start with, I'm sorry. Yeah. I mean, Clark, you kind of jumped to you've jumped to conclusions automatically.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Like, are you one of those guys that, like, anytime somebody talks to me, it's all automatically, oh, the guy's flirting? Because I don't want to deal with that. Like, we're too grown for this. Wow, but you've got to be honest. I mean, this guy was being overly friendly with you. Overly friendly, how?
Starting point is 00:16:45 He asked me if I wanted another glass of wine. Well, in Brooks world, another glass of wine is pretty flirtatious, I will say. I mean, Clark, is it that the waiter was really hot? Is that where your insecurities are coming out? No, it's the way he did it. Like, he smiled and leaned in and smelled her hair. Smelt their hair. Stop.
Starting point is 00:17:05 He did not smell my hair. I mean, Clark, it seems like you're one of those type of guys that get really jealous. Maybe you're insecure, and maybe you have to fix that before you go on other dates. Oh. Oh, so you're one of those types of girls. See, I'll flirt with any dude who comes up to me. What? Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Obviously, you don't know what that type of. a girl is because you're getting the whole thing wrong. The story is that he literally asked me for a glass of wine. That's it. There was no flirting. He smiled. Look, anybody that smiles that much is either trying to sell you a car or get your phone number.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Oh, my God. I mean, he does have a little bit of a point, though. No, he doesn't. A smile really disarms me at the car game of the ship. Oh, yeah. You think someone's smiling at you as someone hitting on you? I bought so many cars I didn't want to buy. That part I actually believe. Yeah. Jeffrey can't say no to anything.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Okay. Oh my God. Maybe it's a little bit of an overreaction. I think, Clark, you're embarrassed right now, and you're having a hard time just admitting you're wrong. I know what I saw. Okay. But you don't know what you heard.
Starting point is 00:18:06 You don't know who the guy actually was. You don't know anything else about the situation. She's absolutely right. I mean, I deserve an apology. The waiter deserves an apology. And even a tip. Oh, you didn't tip. What?
Starting point is 00:18:18 What did you mean you didn't tip? I don't remember what I tipped, but I know I tipped something. I know I tipped something. means very, very little. Like a dollar as an insult. Look, I don't have to explain anything to you. I mean, yeah, he doesn't. Brooke tips much less than that.
Starting point is 00:18:35 I do not. I do not. But I do hit on waiters. I'm kidding. Look, the whole goal of this segment, Maria, is to try to get you and Clark out on another date. So I'm obligated to ask, would you like to see him again one more time?
Starting point is 00:18:50 And if you would, we would pay for it. Absolutely not. See, Jeff, you asked with too much of a smile on your face, so it felt like you were hitting on her. Clark's not going to like that. Yeah. Yeah. It's fine. I mean, you guys obviously already know I don't have a lot of luck with the ladies, so.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Okay. Maybe we go back and re-listen to this and learn something from it, Clark. That sounds boring as hell. Truth is, I don't listen to any of your guys' shit. Oh, well. The gyro blowout has officially blown up. He doesn't know how viral he is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Wow. in the morning. So this is a podcast about video games. Kind of. It's also about friendship. Definitely. And chaos? Unavoidably.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Welcome to It's Dangerous to Go Alone. A podcast where we talk games, culture, nostalgia, and immediately go off topic. There is no gatekeeping. There is no skill check. If you win a game on Easy Mode, we support you. If you've never touched a controller, honestly, same energy for some of us. It's fun. It's chaotic.
Starting point is 00:19:47 It's friendship with a loose gaming theme. And somehow we keep getting away with it. You should listen. Stream It's Dangerous to Go Alone on the free IHeartRadio. or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? I'm sports journalist Ari Chambers. Hey, what's up, y'all?
Starting point is 00:20:00 It's your girl, Sam J. And we're the host of everyone watches women's sports, a new podcast from Together and I Heart Women's Sports. Because let's be real. Women's sports is giving us way too much to talk about these days. So Kelsey Finler, she became the first female solo rower to go from California to Hawaii. My first thought is, like, what's up with the snacks?
Starting point is 00:20:20 Like, what are we eating? The highlights, the rivalries, the breakout stars, the moments to take over your entire timeline. And the conversations that start during the game and somehow keep going all week. Every week, we're breaking down the biggest stories across women's sports. Naomi Osaka showing out, she beat.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Sabalinka. Shout out to you, Naomi. You get the palm, Naomi. You get the palm for that. Because we're not just interested in what happened. We're interested in why everyone's talking about it. Because everyone watches women's sports. Listen to everyone watches women's sports.
Starting point is 00:20:50 On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Wouldn't it be amazing if we did an update update on this and found out she actually went back to the restaurant to apologize to the waiter and actually gave him her number for real and now they're happily dating? Oh my gosh, you're very creative. I mean just like he did. That's the kind of karma that Clark probably deserves in that situation. The thing is, is if Clark jumped to that conclusion, it means the waiter was hot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Let's all be honest. Nobody jumps to that conclusion when an ugo is talking to somebody. You know. So props to that waiter for being extremely good looking and threatening. That's right. We appreciate that. And let's just say, you know what? If you're feeling insecure, don't take it out on the waiters of the world.
Starting point is 00:21:38 It's not fair. It's fine if you want to do it to plumbers or dentists or even radio hosts. That's right, Jeff. We'll sign off on that, just not waiters. Anyway, email the show if you ever need help with your love life. We can call that person who isn't calling you back and go check out all of our second date updates online. Leave a hateful comment. If you want to, we won't mind.
Starting point is 00:21:58 We do, actually. Well, I don't mind. I read all those. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. On Raiders of the Lost Podcast, we explore cinema like no one else, including huge interviews with stars like Ryan Gosling on Project Hail Mary. It was like the Jaws Shark. Didn't always work.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Came with its own problems. That's what made it great. The cast of Obsession. On set, there was so much magic happening with each scene we were putting together.
