Starting point is 00:02:40 Thanks so much for being here at the podcast. On a Friday. Yeah, it just means so much to us. So we got a great guy on the phone whose date totally. Oh, on the phone. Sorry. You too. We also have you.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Yeah, no, his date totally vanished. And he's wondering if it was a miscommunication or something he'd. did we're going to find out here in just a second accidental magic trick yeah maybe that'd be so good oh my god where'd you go oh no what do you see in the comment section yeah ben de oliviera said hey guys greetings from brazil i love your show my wife is actually trying to learn english now because she's so curious to know why the hell i'm laughing so much oh that's awesome really cute i want to learn Portuguese that'd be cool i always think it's so amazing when people can be funny in another language.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Oh, yeah. Like, that's when you know you've mastered it. Which we can't do. No. I don't even know if I'm funny in this language. Hey, thanks for being here.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Your brand new second date starts right now. Second date update. We've had some strange requests on this segment before. Like, for example, the listener who wanted us to pretend we were from a British radio show. Yeah, that was fun.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Because he lied and said that he was from London. Yeah. My accent. So good. But we tried it. Also, someone who asked our producer if we could alter his voice so his wife wouldn't recognize him if she heard it. No. That wrong show for that.
Starting point is 00:04:08 No, not us. Believe it or not, we do have a limit of what we're willing to do. It's very low. It is. The bar is low. But there is a bar. But today, one of our listeners has emailed with a request specifically for Brooke. What?
Starting point is 00:04:22 And we'll find out if she's willing to accommodate it. Would you like another English accent? Let's find out. His name is Breyer. Breyer, welcome to the show. Hey, guys. Hey, Brooke. Hey.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I really need you on my side for this one. Oh, yeah. I can do that. I mean, unless you did something really dumb. There's already stipulation. Well, it's like I said yes, and then I remembered. I don't know anything about this man yet. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Oh, that's true. Why do you want Brooke's approval? I just, I listen to Brooke on a. a couple of different occasions before. You know where the real power comes from. That's what you just need to say. Well, yeah, I mean, in a nutshell, I enjoy your opinion. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:06 So let's get into your date that you went on. What's the girl's name? So our name was Fiona. Okay. I took her to, like, a medium-priced restaurant. Okay. They served a lot of different types of American food. It was good.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Uh-oh. Brooke America. And I'm not a big fan lately. I love Denny's. Okay. So for my hammy, I mean, Applebee's kind of hits sometimes. Ooh, now I'm dreaming Applebee.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Chili's is my number one, I would say. Okay. All right, so now we got Brooke back on board. Let's keep going with it. How did it go at the restaurant? You know, it was good. I was just really trying to focus on her and making sure that she was okay
Starting point is 00:05:48 to see if she had any type of needs. Oh, good. Neat. You mean you were just like, asking her questions and being inquisitive? Yeah, I mean, like asking if she had any type of dietary restriction, you know. Oh, that's actually good. I mean, do you really need to ask that question?
Starting point is 00:06:08 Because I like to propose that after they've gone into anaphylactic shock. I get it. Because how could you be the hero and come to her rescue her if she wasn't swelling up? Oh, was it the crab that's making you do that with your face? Oh, you're a grown woman. You didn't know you were allergic to crab. Oh, yeah. Please.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Maybe if you eat more, it'll cancel out. Yeah. But good for you that you asked beforehand. Okay. That's a strong move, right. But, like, what was the date like? Like, what was your connection like? It was fun.
Starting point is 00:06:36 It was actually a lot of fun. We actually started talking about childhood TV shows. Oh, my gosh. That's such a good fun topic. We all want to jump in with our favorites. Yeah. Even you mentioned it. I'm holding it.
Starting point is 00:06:49 I'm holding it in, though. Hold it. Hold it. It's not about us. Well, yeah. Well, so what was your answer for favorite childhood TV show? Well, mine was actually, Hey, Arnold, I don't know if you guys remember that. Oh, that was great, dude.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Degenerate children, sure. I wanted his room so bad. What was hers? Hers was Rugrats. Oh, degenerate babies, okay. I love Rugrats. But look at your both Nickelodeon kids. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Yes, I did point that out. Okay. Okay. Dude, I mean, so you're hitting it off. Finding things you have in common. And we also agreed that. that Dunkeroo's are actually overrated. Don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Overrated. Oh, my gosh. I don't know. I had one recently, and I'm with him on that one. Really? Yeah, as good as a kid, but not now. You should just keep talking about food because Brooke is not going to go against you. We're all having a good time.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I like this. I'm just curious. Did you have any non-food, non-children's topics that you covered during your conversation? Yeah. Well, we did start talking about being single in like this current day requirement. it's a lot different than our past relationships. I mean, am I wrong in saying this? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:01 No, you're right. It's crazy. Brooke can't weigh in on that because she hasn't dated in many, many, many decades. So she doesn't know what it's like. I mean, it's been a long time over a decade. I know. You lose track of time when it's been that long. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Well, it all sounds cute, though. It sounds like you guys are vibe in, talking about some deeper stuff even. You related. Was there something bad that happened? No, not bad. Bad, maybe a miscommunication or a misunderstanding. Oh, uh-oh. Towards the end of the night, after we were done eating, I paid for dinner.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Yeah. And we went to the lobby, and I had to use the restroom real quick. Okay. After I came out, she was gone. Like, I couldn't find her in a restaurant. I went outside. Her car was gone. Oh, goodness.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Maybe she misunderstood me and, like, saying, hey, I have to go to a restroom. It was nice talking to you and see you later. but I just need to use the bathroom and I came back out and she was gone Oh my gosh, you thought there was going to be more after. You know, that's a real Angelica Pickles move right there. Yeah. I'm a dograts fan, you get it. I can feel that though, like just that
Starting point is 00:09:07 awkward moment you're like, wait, was that a goodbye? Do I leave? Do you stay? And maybe she was in her head, like, I don't want to stay because what if he just said goodbye and then he comes out and I'm still here? Right. You know what I mean? Well, yeah, without a proper goodbye, it's totally, you don't know where you stand. So where are you and Fiona? now she did text me a little bit later oh that's good okay since then i've kind of you know alluded to the fact that maybe we should get up again i really enjoyed myself and she's always busy
Starting point is 00:09:36 oh that's not a good sign okay could be a brush off there yeah so we're going to call her here in a second but brook where are we at with briar he's asked that you have his back here are you willing to throw your support behind him during the next part of the call it sounds like you had a great date Why is your voice going so high when you say, yeah, great day! I don't know. I really support Breyer. All right, we're going to come back, and hopefully
Starting point is 00:10:02 Brooke is true to her word when we call Fiona and try and get you your second date update right after this. Hold on then. Second date update. We don't have a ton of time here. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, but we're in the middle of a second date update where a guy named Breyer desperately wants.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Brooks' support. Because he's heard how these calls go. And if she's not a hundred percent behind you, then she's a hundred percent out to get you. That is not true. You are so dramatic, Jeffrey. See, Brooke is out to get me right now, 100 percent. You are such a drama king. So just some bullet points about Breyer's Day real quick. He took a lady named Fiona out to a restaurant. They bonded over childhood TV shows and their mutual hatred of Dunkeroo's. I'm still recapping. Please don't interrupt. And they talked about how dating is different nowadays than it was with past relationships.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Are you going to go into every detail of everything that happened? I mean, I think they just listened to part one. This is just a quick recap. Not everyone heard it, bro. Some people are just tuning in right now. Just if you missed it. But after they paid the bill, there was a little miscommunication about using the restroom because when he came out, Fiona had already left and her car was gone.
Starting point is 00:11:16 At least we're hoping it's a miscommunication and she didn't just bail. Yes. Or is it possible that her car got towed, and she blames Breyer for that? What? Why would it be Breyer? Briar, did you have her car towed on purpose so that she'd be stranded there and forced to get a ride home with you? Oh. Breyer? Breyer, are you listening?
Starting point is 00:11:35 I did. Yeah, I am listening. No, I did not do that. I thought you just said I did. I'm like, I just said me what? Okay. I know you're saying that, but the truth will come out when we call Fiona here in a second if she picks up. Yeah. No, no, no. I hope it does because I'm just completely lost after what happened.
Starting point is 00:11:53 I think she just thinks you don't like her that much. And that is something we can quickly clear up. Well, thank you so much, Brooke. I've really, really hoped that you have my back with this because I just, I'm so lost. Breyer, that's all I've had so far. So let's keep going. Let's move forward. We're all in your corner. I'm going to dial Fiona's number and let's see if she answers. Here we go. Okay, thank you. Hello. Hey, is this Fiona? Yes, who's this?
Starting point is 00:12:25 Hey, Fiona. This is an entire radio show actually called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hey, welcome to the show, Fiona. Hi, good morning. What's going on? Yeah. Yeah, what's going on is a segment that we do pretty regularly on the show called the second date update. Okay, that sounds fun.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Yeah, it is. It's actually kind of fun. It's our most popular segment. And it could be really fun for you because we're talking about a guy that you went on a really nice date with recently, a guy named Breyer. Oh. All right. You seem a little shy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:02 The thing is we're trying to help Breyer out because he told us about your date. He felt like there was a good vibe happening, but he's a little bit confused because afterwards there hasn't been any communication about a second meetup. Oh, yeah. No, he's reached out a couple times. I've just been busy. Oh, okay. So it really is just a scheduling thing for you. You plan on seeing him again? Oh, no, no. You say no? You don't plan on seeing him again? No, not really.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Oh. Okay. Well, I mean, that's fine, but is there a reason why you feel that way? Because Breyer isn't sure. Yeah, I mean, he's kind of sweet. He's just a little bit of a mess. How so? So he talked to you. He told you stuff or... Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:51 I mean, just in a nutshell, your date was at a nice American restaurant. You guys talked about childhood TV shows and current dating and past dating and... So I'm guessing you heard about his breakup? We... Oh, no. He generalized. Yeah, we didn't get into any, like, specifics about past relationships or anything like that. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Okay. So at one point, he did open up to me and... was talking about how dating is different these days, and he volunteered the information about his last serious relationship. And so he broke up with, like, a serious girlfriend to date an OnlyFans model. Oh, no. That's what he told you? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And he wore up and down that he was, like, tricked into it. He probably was. OnlyFans girls were like to date, though. You're thinking of popular OnlyFans girls. There are plenty of women on only fans that have, like, one fan. You make an amazing point, Brooke, like where it's the only fan. But Brooke, knowing what you know about Breyer, he probably gets the top tier only fans, girls. Yeah, because you have his back, man, because he's that type of guy that could pull that.
Starting point is 00:15:01 I could see him, I'll tell you this. I could see him being sweet and maybe a little naive when it comes to. Yeah, so sweet. I mean, he was crying. Oh, no. Oh, no. At the table, he was crying about the only fans? Yeah, he was crying at the table because he found out that the only fans model wouldn't commit to him because she's in a relationship, too.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Oh, wow. Okay. Okay. So you found out that Breyer left his girlfriend to be with an onlyfans woman who refused to commit fully to him. Correct. And which part of that was a turn off to you? Yeah, was he paying for only fans while in a relationship still? For me, it was like, we were talking about
Starting point is 00:15:46 Dunkeroos and kids' shows and then now he's crying at the table about his only fans model and I'm like, yep, dating do be different. Okay, do you think he's not over the only fans girl? Part of me I think he's not over it because why you be crying.
Starting point is 00:16:04 And then I'm also like, what if this is us? And then you meet another only fans model and she's telling you that she's going to be with you. Yeah. If you deposit X amount of money Maybe or is there a chance that that was just kind of a made up story as like a flex Sometimes guys will do that
Starting point is 00:16:23 As a flex that he got left by an only fan's model A boy is not going to flex and then cry Yeah Well I'm just saying you never know I think everyone knows it's for the money We should really ask Breyer about it because I need to tell you Fiona He is on the other line right now listening to this call Oh buddy
Starting point is 00:16:42 What? Yeah Bri, are you there? Yeah. Oh, right. How are you doing? I feel a little bit embarrassed, but I'm okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:57 You call the radio station, Briar? What did you think is going to happen? Well, I was just kind of trying to figure out what was going on. I mean, I tried to reach out to you. You always said that you're busy. I mean, what's going on? I think, okay. Just rule of thumb, future dating.
Starting point is 00:17:13 One, I'm busy. She might be busy. Four, I'm busy. She doesn't want to see you. Well, I mean, you told me that you were busy three times. So what does that mean? The assumption is there that you would text again. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:28 You just got to put yourself in her shoes, right? Like, if you were on a date and a woman was crying about her ex, you probably wouldn't feel great about that future with them. I mean, I was comfortable with her. at the end of the day, and I don't mind being sensitive, and she was sensitive to me. I would be open to it as well. I mean, is it wrong that I was open to her book? No.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Yeah, you're a little vulnerable, you're sensitive to you, I guess. It just comes off as maybe you're not over the, you know, that's the thing. But maybe you were crying because she took all your money. Like, was that why you're crying instead? Yeah. Well, she didn't take all of my money. She just took some of it. Some of us.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Well, that's really generous of her to leave. some left over for you to date other women. Oh, man. Fiona, like, how many men have been scammed by beautiful women? A lot. Thousands. Thousands. I mean, all you want is for Briar to have learned his lesson, right?
Starting point is 00:18:25 Sure. Yeah. I do want that for him. That's good. That's good. And you could help give that to him if you agree to go on another day, a date that we would pay for. I'll promise that I won't cry on the second date. Honestly wild
Starting point is 00:18:44 But you didn't promise yourself that on the first date Oh man Fiona do you want to date a guy who's bottling His emotions just for you At least about his ex No I don't want that either Oh man You're a confusing woman Fiona
Starting point is 00:18:58 What did Avrilaville say? Complicated So you just want to hook up with him once And then move on I'll be down for that Okay Of course you would Okay so is that a yes to the hookup
Starting point is 00:19:12 Briar, very kind of you to say that you felt comfortable with me, and you're very sweet, but no. Oh, my gosh. That's okay. That's okay. Breyer, I'm sorry, man. I don't even know what to say. I guess I'll go back to crying. No, go back to OnlyFam.
Starting point is 00:19:30 No, don't do that. Don't afford that, Alexis. Breyer, please don't cry again right now. I can't guarantee that. Oh, buddy. I want to give up before he starts. I want to give him a hug. All right.
Starting point is 00:19:45 Well, you know what, Breyer, it's not a date with Fiona, but we'll set you and Brooke up so you guys can hug and cry and do each other's arms. I mean, I'm married, so it's nothing more than that, okay? Well, he was in a relationship before, too. So, yeah. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. In 1920, a magazine article announced something incredible. Two young girls had photographed real fairies.
Starting point is 00:20:10 But even more extraordinary than the magazine article's claim was the identity of the man who wrote the article, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the man who wrote Sherlock Holmes. Yes, the man who invented literature's most brilliant detective was fooled by two girls into thinking fairies were real. How did they do it? And why does it seem like so many smart people keep falling for outlandish tricks? These are the questions we explore in Hoax, a new podcast from me, Dana Schwartz, the host of Noble Blood. And me, Lizzie Logan. Every episode will explore one of the most audacious and ambitious tricks in history, from the fake Shakespeare's to Balloon Boys, and try to answer the question of why we believe what we believe. Listen to Hoax on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:21:05 A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA, using new scientific. scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny, you might just miss it.
Starting point is 00:21:40 He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors. And you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you at your podcasts. We're getting a lot of text in to 7-8-5-9-2 from listeners saying Breyer is just the sweetest man. And then are they attaching their Venmo's so that Breyer can send their money? No, they're not doing that and nobody's asking to go out with him either.
Starting point is 00:22:21 But they do like him. Are there any only fans, girls like, subscribe to me. Yeah, probably. I mean, come on, ladies. A guy who cries at the dinner table on a first date after openly admitting that he broke up with his last girlfriend to date an only fan's model? Where's the red flag there? I dare you to find
Starting point is 00:22:39 it. I wish we could break that sentence up a little bit, but yeah, he felt like a lot. Just there may be a few problems there? All right. Maybe Breyer has some personal stuff he needs to work out first before he dives back into the dating pool. But I still support men that cry, Alexis. That's right. I thought
Starting point is 00:22:55 with that just not about your ex. Okay, all right, there we go. Cry about anything else. You can even cry while you email the show while asking us for help. Oh, if we We see tears. We will help. Yes, put those crying emojis in your email, and we will definitely call that person who's not calling you back, and Brooke will have your back 100%. Let's not just make that a blanket promise.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Let her assess the situation first. Okay, give us a few details, and then we can help you out. But go subscribe wherever you get your podcast. We're up at Brooke and Jeffrey. Have you overlooked at a piece of abstract art or music or poetry and thought, that's just a bunch of pretentious nonsense? That's exactly what two bored Australian soldiers set out to prove during World War II when they tricked the literary world with their intentionally bad poetry, setting off a major scandal. We break down the truth, the lies, and the poetry in between on hoax, a new podcast hosted by me, Lizzie Logan, and me, Dana Schwartz.
