Ruck and Jubels, second date update.
A reasonable excuse to not call somebody back after a first date
would be what, like they're a bad kisser? Yeah, that'd be a after a first date would be what?
Like they're a bad kisser?
Yeah, that'd be a good one.
That'd be okay.
Yeah, I think that'd be okay.
How about cutting their fingernails too short?
Would that be unreasonable?
No, that's too far.
And weird that you're noticing that.
We've got Leslie on the phone.
Leslie?
Hey, guys.
How are you doing?
Pretty good.
So you want to do a second date update on a dude that you went out with.
Tell us a little bit about it.
Well, his name is Mark, and
we went out, like,
nine days ago. I'm not counting, I swear.
Nine days ago.
Eight hours, 26 minutes.
Yeah, and three seconds.
But yeah, we went out nine days ago,
and it was one of those things
where you get into it, and you're like,
wow, I actually can communicate
with this guy and not want to shoot myself.
What'd you guys do?
I totally know that feeling.
We went to a dinner.
It was a nice Italian place.
You know, we like ordered appetizers.
We had salad.
We had like the whole entree.
You remember everything about this date, like how long it's been.
And then you're just like, and also one of the forks.
I was a little dingy.
So I sent the fork back.
You really enjoyed this date, didn't you?
Our server's name was John.
No, it was so much fun.
And he's, like, funny, and he's cute, and he's smart.
I mean, like, you know, you hardly meet smart guys nowadays.
And you're like, wow, like, he actually has an opinion.
Wow, you really like Mark.
How did it end?
We just gave each other a really nice long hug. You know, it was like
a lingering hug.
Leslie, I picture you not letting him go and just
like smelling his hair.
Dragging him into my apartment. No, it was really
sweet.
He was like, oh, I'm going to call you soon.
And I was like, all right. And that was it.
Have you tried to get a hold of him?
No, you know, I'm one of those girls.
I'm old-fashioned.
I don't want to, like, push it.
So I haven't contacted him
because he said he was going to call me,
so I didn't think I should.
Which Jubal is surprised by
because he still thinks that you
clipped off a piece of his hair.
Yeah, I do.
I do.
Yeah, I haven't called him,
but I have been watching him.
Okay, we're going to call him right after this
and get your answer as to why
he hasn't called you back, okay? Okay.
Tonight.

second date update.
Remember, if you want a second date update
for yourself, you can email us brookandjubal
at moving925.com. That's when someone blows
you off after you go out on a date with them and you want to figure out
why. Leslie emailed us about a guy named Mark. She had a great time on the date.
At the end of the date, they hugged and said goodbye. She hasn't tried to contact him.
She hasn't heard from him. And she really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really wants to know why.
Right, Leslie?
Okay, maybe one less really, but yes.
Give Leslie a break. She was excited. I can get behind a girl that was excited about a date.
It's cool.
I'm not ripping you for it.
I think it's awesome that you're excited about it.
All right, are you ready to call him?
Yes, I am.
Are you nervous?
A little bit.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right, I'm going to dial him right now.
Hello?
Hey, can I speak to Mark, please?
Yeah, this is Mark.
Mark, what's up?
This is Jubal from Brook and Jubal in the Morning on Moving 92.5.
How are you?
Wait, I'm sorry.
Who is this?
Jubal from the radio station Moving 92.5.
We do the morning show here
alright
so you're excited
I wanted to call and talk to you about a mutual friend we have
if you got a second
it's a girl named
Leslie that you went out on a date with
she said that you had a great time
and then you haven't called her back
and so
we were all just kind of wondering what happened on the date if there was any particular reason then you haven't called her back. And so, you know, we were all just kind of wondering what happened on the date,
if there was any particular reason that you weren't calling her back.
We're not actually on the radio, right?
Yes, we are.
We're on the radio.
We are.
Here's the deal, Mark, okay?
We do this segment on our show called Second Date Update.
Leslie emailed us about you.
She wants to know why you didn't call her back.
You know, it's just one of those situations where it's just not going to work out.
But she said you had like over a two-hour dinner, Mark.
I mean, why would you hang out with somebody for so long if you weren't into them?
I mean, I don't know. She said during the date that just kind of, you know, put me off.
What did she say?
What did she say that put you off?
She was saying that she and this friend of ours met by taking part in this, like, weight loss program.
Okay.
And she was saying that, you know, she had lost over 70 pounds in the last, like, year or so.
Okay.
Great for her and something
about that I just like I started thinking like well what if like it's
serious I mean you're married or whatever and you know she gains all that
way back something about the fact that she lost 70 pounds wait let me get this
straight mark and I just started picturing her like what she would look like if she had the extra 70 pounds on her face.
Mark, Mark, you are not calling her back because of possible future weight gain.
Come on, like you guys, I mean, look.
Leslie?
Yes?
Mark, Leslie's actually on the phone and heard what you just said.
Oh, my God, Mark.
That is unbelievable.
Like, I did something positive in my life and you're judging me for it?
You're like, oh, man, what if she gained 70 pounds in like 10 years?
I mean, how superficial do you sound right now?
Exactly.
Mark, you know that everybody that you meet in life has the potential
to gain weight at a certain point. Including you. Yeah. Why do you see that as a negative thing?
Why don't you see that as something positive, like she has determination and cares about her health?
No, I mean, good for her. That's awesome for her. But the idea, the potential to go back to that
while being with someone in a relationship, I just... He doesn't care about health, Lydia.
He cares about hotness.
Mark?
I don't even know what to say right now.
This is unbelievable.
Mark, I agree with you on the hotness thing.
I'm totally with you there.
I would like to date a hot girl,
but you don't think it's a little judgmental
to not go out with her again?
I can't change these sort of feelings I have.
I can't change these sort of feelings i have you know i can't i can't change
compassion you know kindness well it's a first date you know what i mean like honestly leslie
i think what you did is great but it's a first date if he feels that way after a first date if
he's like look i'm scared she may gain weight back then fine totally i mean now i mean thank
you thank you guys for helping me because now i know
exactly the kind of person that he is i mean you know i lost 70 pounds i mean it's been like the
best year of my life and then to find out like that there are guys like this out out there dating
at least i know now and i'm not like three months down the line like wow you're a real jerk yeah
at the end of these we always ask if you guys want to go on a second date.
I think I'm good.
I think I'm good.
All right.
Mark, do you want to go out with Leslie again?
I think we'll pass on this one.
All right.
I figured that would be the answer.
All right.
Leslie, keep up the good work with your weight loss.
Mark, no fat chicks.
How about that?
Jubal.
Broken Jubal in the morning.
