Hey, thanks for finding the official second date podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:53 We are so glad you're here. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. No matter how you got here. And this is one you're not going to forget today. I'll tell you that. You'll never look at a muffin the same again. No, or maybe a minivan or just any of the stores. Honestly, kids reared a lot of things for you.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Yeah. So enjoy the new episode here in a second, but first we love to highlight your comments. Yeah, Kabooty commented on yesterday's awkward and said, Brooke, you should be helping resolve the issue. That's why they come to you not to worsen the situation. What? So. Uh-oh. How do I make it worse?
Starting point is 00:03:23 I didn't say it. They said it. The listeners are mad at you, Brooke. I'm sorry. There is no way you could make that man's situation worse from yesterday. He was a hot mess, okay? All right. Well, listen, I guess Alexis will read the ones about how I suck in my job more often if you leave those comments.
Starting point is 00:03:40 A lot of them. Yeah, your brand new episode starts right now. There's a lot of them. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. What happens when your expectation of a date doesn't match what actually happens when you meet up? Oh, you're just living in reality. That's not what I mean, Brooke.
Starting point is 00:03:58 I just say, nobody's living there. Happens every time, doesn't it? No, like, for example, I met up with a person one time nicknamed oak tree. And when I actually saw them, definitely not an oak tree. All right, Jeff. More like a sapling. I don't want the tree analogy. Well, that's just an example to lead into our listener, Vince, because he's saying he's been kind of disappointed in the dates that he's gone on, even though they are happening.
Starting point is 00:04:25 And he's hoping that we can help him. So Vince, man, welcome to the show. Hey guys, how are you? I thought for sure he was going to ask you about what type of tree you were. We'll get into that later and I can send you pictures of the entire Arbor catalog. But Vince, I got to say I'm a little bit confused because your email says it's not like the girl's ghosting you. Oh. You just don't like the dates that you two are going on.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Can you explain more what that means? Yeah, they're not going the way I thought they would at all. Okay, wait. They, though, means multiple. You've been on more than one date? Yes. I've been on a few, and each one gets weirder and weirer. I feel like I'm in an episode of Twin Peep.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Oh. That's quite a reference, Vince. I'm sure some of our listeners will recognize what you're talking about. But go into the details. Like, what's happening with this woman that you're meeting up with? What's her name? Her name is Jamie. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:16 And do we get to know how you met Jamie, or do we not have time since we have to go through multiple dates here? No, no, no. I can say really quickly. We met online. We got along. I felt very comfortable with her. We had some great conversations. Okay. And I figured like, hey, you know, like for our first date, let's go to Target.
Starting point is 00:05:33 You know, we can walk on a Target and be a little shopping and then go get dinner. Wow. That was your idea to do a Target date? No, it was her idea to do a target date. Okay, that makes a lot more sense. Yeah, it does. I feel like we've heard of these before where women suggest something like this because they expect the man to pay for their daily groceries. And they deserve to have their groceries paid for, too. You got to add that in. I don't know that I agree with that. Okay, but what was the expectation?
Starting point is 00:05:59 Yeah, going into it, we didn't have any expectation. What's, what's, who's going to pay for what or what to expect. Okay. Okay. So, what happened? So we get there. We're outside laughing. We're talking.
Starting point is 00:06:12 And I go, hey, do you want to go into the target? And Jamie says to me, hey, I want you to check out my backseat. You should check out my backseat. There's a lot of room back there. Wait, the backseat of the car? Yeah, the backseat of her car. What? That's kind of forward.
Starting point is 00:06:26 the way that you're saying. Well, I assume that she had got it detailed. If a man says we'd assume kidnapping, not detailed car. But this is a woman saying it to him. Well, I don't know. Maybe girls think guys like cars and they want to see them. I really don't know what was going on or what her motive was. Okay. So you go over to the car, right?
Starting point is 00:06:45 We go over to the car. I look at it. It is a nice back seat. I can't lie. Hey. All right. Tell them the truth. That's good.
Starting point is 00:06:53 She says to me, get in. And then she closed the door. Oh, my God. And then she gets in the front seat. And then she just starts driving the car around. Like, drive me around. Like, I'm in, yeah. Do we go back to my kidnapping allegations now?
Starting point is 00:07:05 Are you freaked out? Yeah, a little bit because I'm like, what's going on? We're supposed to go to target. And why are you in the backseat and not in the passenger seat if she's going to drive you somewhere? So what happens is we pull up, she gets me out of the car, and then she drives away. Well, we messed around a little bit before that. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, well, what do you mean you messed around? Well, I mean, after like 10 minutes driving around, we stopped somewhere.
Starting point is 00:07:30 She got in the back of me. We fooled around a little bit. And then she kicked me out of car and left. What the heck? I can't. You're not in the Target parking lot anymore. You're away from your own vehicle at this point. She abandoned you.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I mean, I could get to my car. It wasn't that far away. But, like, he did literally just dump me out of a car. And you went out with this woman again. Oh, yeah, we go again. She wants me to meet her up at Great Clip. Great Clips. Oh, you're getting matching hair.
Starting point is 00:07:56 I don't think they ever go inside any of these businesses, Jeff. No? No, we didn't go inside again. The same thing. She plugs me in the back, drives around, goes there, we fool around, and she drives off. So it's just like a car hookup, buddy. So, and your email said that you're really disappointed with how the dates are going. Which part of this is disappointing to you?
Starting point is 00:08:16 Well, I mean, I just don't know where she's coming from. And then every time I try to have a conversation with her, like, she just shoved muffins in my mouth. What the whole? Nothing. I'm sorry, is that a metaphor or a real muffin? No, she really. Where's she getting muffins? She makes them herself.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Oh, wow. And she just hands me muffins when she's done with me. Okay. She drives you around in the back seat, has her way with you, and then shoves a muffin in your mouth that says, get out. Speechless. You might be the only man that has a problem with the way that this is going. Now she's ghosting him. I'm guessing or what?
Starting point is 00:08:54 Oh, now she's ghosting you? No, she's not. In fact, she's looking for more dates. And I'm assuming that it's going to be like the same type of thing, you know? Yeah. But you can only take so many muffins in one month. I want a relationship. I don't want this.
Starting point is 00:09:08 If you want a relationship and something deeper with her, why don't you just tell her that yourself? That's a good point. Like, why do you need us to do that? Because every time I try to talk to her, she takes charge in the situation. She wants to meet in person, and then I end up with a muffin in my mouth. Okay. Well, honestly, there could be things worse to be dealing with in a dating situation, but we're going to attempt to help you when we come back. We will call the muffin lady.
Starting point is 00:09:33 I can't wait to meet her. Me too. And we'll try to convince her to go on an actual real date with you. Yes, not to a bakery. Outside the car. Outside of that back seat with your second date update right after this. Hold on. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Second date update. If you're just joining us, our listener Vince has told us a very strange story. Excuse you, Alexis. Don't laugh. I honestly can't stop laughing at it. Don't laugh. This is very serious. I do feel like I need to say this.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Is the story more weird? Or is Vince's lack of reaction to it, the weird part? That he wants more. You mean more in the relationship? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know. He's treating this whole situation as kind of like a quirky, odd, circumstantial thing. But to us, it's just downright bizarre what's happening.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Where he meets up with this woman he met online, Jamie. They'll meet up in front of Borkman. businesses, but never actually go inside them. She just invites him into the backseat of his car, then drives him around, usually to other local parking lots, where they fool around together
Starting point is 00:10:35 till she drops them back off at his car with a warm muffin. I don't know if I got that detail, but I like it. I'm picturing a steaming muffin going into his mouth. And Vince, what is the problem that you have with this arrangement exactly? Well, I want something real,
Starting point is 00:10:52 and if she doesn't feel the same, way I'm going to walk away. Okay. You're looking for something deeper with her an actual relationship. I can't have this conversation with her in person. I tried one and she just changed the subject. I just,
Starting point is 00:11:05 I need your help guys. Okay, so you guys do talk. Which is good. I mean, that's why I just pictured it like kind of driving in silence and him kind of scared. No, no, he talks a lot. When she drives, you know, we love
Starting point is 00:11:18 to discuss things and stuff. So she does talk quite a bit. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. I am so curious to hear why. Really, Brooke? Do you actually want to know why?
Starting point is 00:11:28 Because I feel like it might be a little frightening. Yeah, maybe no more behind the scenes details on it. Okay, fine. Brooke wants to steal tips from this lady on how to put men. I just look at for a muffin recipe, Jeff. I don't know what you're here for. He actually gave me the recipe if you want, I can forward it to you. Oh, we do a second date update for him.
Starting point is 00:11:46 He gives a muffin recipe to us. Yep, there it is. We're all going to win. I'm going to dial her number right now. Here we go. Hello. Hey, we're looking to speak with Jamie. This is her.
Starting point is 00:12:06 We are so excited to talk to you. We're excited because we've heard a little bit about you. We're a radio show, by the way, Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hi, Jamie. Hey. Welcome to the show. What is this? Yeah, it's a show.
Starting point is 00:12:20 We do a lot of segments on this about dating, including this one called a second date update. Yeah. No, thank you. Thank you. No, no. We do have the right number. You're actually the woman we've been trying to reach because one of our listeners named Vince asked us to get a hold of you. Vince? Yeah. You remember him?
Starting point is 00:12:43 Yeah, I know him, but I don't want to talk about this. You don't even know what we're asking yet. It doesn't matter. I don't want to talk about it. I think we all understand that you wouldn't want to talk about it. But if you actually care about Vince, I feel like you need to give us a little bit of information or he says that he's ready to basically walk out of your life. What? Doing that right away. They've only hung out twice, Jeff.
Starting point is 00:13:11 So dramatic. Well, yeah, maybe I need to be a little bit dramatic here because he told us about the situation that's going on and he isn't 100% happy with how it's going. And he's never told me that. Well, I think he tried to. It's hard to talk with a muffin. You seem to be a very persuasive woman, and you have him under some sort of spell. Is that a good way to put it? Brooks jealous of your magical abilities.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Well, I'm flattered. I mean, I like him. Okay. Not going to lie. It makes me kind of sad that he wants to cut ties with me. Well, he wouldn't want to, but he's saying to us that you guys are planning these dates to do together, but you never actually end up doing the thing you plan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Like you mentioned Target and you never went inside Target. Oh, I told you a lot. Yeah. He did share quite a bit. Yeah. And we're just trying to get the scope of what's going on between you two. So he's confused why after you basically hang out, it sounds like in your car for a little bit, you kind of kick him to the curb.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Well, it's kind of an embarrassing reason. and I haven't shared it with him yet. Okay, so you do want to share the reason. Yeah, I want to. I just hasn't been the right time, and I don't know how to say it. Well, this actually might be the perfect time for it, because the way that these second-day calls work is the other person agrees that they might hear something kind of out there
Starting point is 00:14:45 or something embarrassing or weird, and they're okay with it. They give their pre-approval. Okay. Okay, this is the first time I'm saying this. Oh, God. Sorry. Sorry, I snort when I'm nervous. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I snort when I laugh all the time. Yeah. You don't want to tell him what? Okay, I'm banned from these places. What? You're banned from the businesses that you? Yeah, yeah. I don't want to get into too much detail.
Starting point is 00:15:22 but I've been banned from these places. So why would you ask him to meet you in front of the place then? Because it gets me hot and bothered. Oh, wow. Wait, you get turned on by being banned from a great cliff. It turns me on to be in close vicinity of these places. You know, it's the thrill, it's the adrenaline. It's really hot.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Okay. What do you have to do to get banned from a place? Like that? How many places are you banned from? Brooke, are you happy that you asked this now? I did think it was going to be you had a husband or something, and that's why you had to do it in the back of a parking lot. So you're purposely taking him places that you're banned from because it gets you going. I've said that already.
Starting point is 00:16:10 It's humiliating. I think you're fine. I think that the problem is you don't do dinner first. Like, I bet that he would be fine if you did the great clips and the Target after you had a real day. In fact, let's hear it directly from Vince because you don't know this yet, but Vince is on the other line listening to this call waiting to talk to you. Oh, it's like he's been banned. Are you joking? Are you kidding?
Starting point is 00:16:33 I'm not. Vince should still be on the line. Hey, hey, I'm here. Oh, there he is. Yeah. So you get turned on by hooking up in front of a great clip is what you're saying? She's like, how many times do I have to say it? And Target. It's not the store.
Starting point is 00:16:51 it sounds like the being banned is the thing. Yeah. I find that exhilarating, yeah, being banned from somewhere. I'm going to guess like it was some type of shoplifting thing for Target, but why were you banned from Great Clips? You don't know shit banned. So you don't assume anything from any store. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Okay. This is that take charge attitude. But Vince, it must feel good that she wants to bring you to all these places that get her feeling the way she feels. That's your spin? Yeah, but like, I don't know. What if she, like, punched the manager and he comes out to get lunch and he sees us making out in the back seat? That's a wild assumption.
Starting point is 00:17:29 That's why I drive away. Oh. Okay. See, she's protecting you. She's thought this through. The one piece that's missing for me right now is the muffins. Thank you for asking. Why do you do the muffins?
Starting point is 00:17:42 He does a little something for me. I give him a little muffin on the way out. Okay. But I think we're getting too far away from what Vince's goal is. That's to have a deeper relationship with you, right? What do you mean farther away? You ask about the fucking muffin. Yeah, Brooke.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Brooke. Why you're misdirecting her? Valid point. You're right. I'm trying to steer myself back. Brooke is right. The reason that we do this call is to try and see if there could be a deeper connection, another date, where Vince is hoping to actually do an activity with you.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Can we go to like a restaurant or a store that you're not banned at and hang out there? What? But it won't turn me on. Oh. Yeah, but why do you? Why do you have to be constantly turned? Like, why can we just, like, go shopping? Why can't I be constantly turned on?
Starting point is 00:18:28 Am I just, like, a body to you? Is that what it is? I don't give my muffins to anybody. Okay. Oh, just in his mom. She sees something in you. Okay. I think that was a compliment.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I don't know exactly what she sees. I'm even more confused now than before I call you guys. Not sure why you would turn this down. You could go to dinner and then get banned while you're there. Oh. Turn it into a future hot. spot? There you go, Alexis.
Starting point is 00:18:53 I'm not into that. I don't want to get banned or get in trouble with the law. I've done some things in my past as well. Oh. Oh. Oh. I thought it's because you were goody two shoes, but certainly not. Do you know how turns on them made me when you just said that man?
Starting point is 00:19:05 Oh. Okay. I think we need to get off the phone, Judge. Let's go. It might take our producer a little while to go through all of our gift cards and find one that you're both allowed to be near. Okay. Oh, Vince is fine with that. He's right.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Vince is checked off. He's ready for his next muffin. Jamie, is that cool with you? More than cool. Oh. Wow. I feel like this is one that I'm not going to need an update from you, too. Not even if they go to Chucky Cheese?
Starting point is 00:19:33 I don't think so. I can't go there either. Yeah, that's so shocking. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Okay, I have a trick for knowing whether a chocolate chip cookie is going to be incredible. It is based solely on whether or not there's a touch of salt on the top. Oh, the salty and sweet. You just can't go wrong. It is the best flavor combo out there. Okay, well, maybe the best flavor combo is salty, sweet, and nutritious because I've got you covered with that with Kachava's new salted caramel.

Starting point is 00:21:31 I want to know so bad. But I got to say, I do think I get it a little bit. What? Because I do feel a rush whenever I go to the mall where Jose and I were banned years ago for doing a stunt. Oh, my God. They even had your pictures up. They did. Well, you have to.
Starting point is 00:21:47 It's trespassing. But they lifted the band and now whenever I go back there, I'm like, oh my God. I'm here. I'm here. This is so naughty. I still remember doing comedy shows practically in handcuffs when I used to have to go to that mall and perform. They had to escort you in. And out.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Like I couldn't linger after the show. I'm like, all right, buddy, get out of here. So I will say there might be something to it. Those two. I look for Jeffrey at the mall soon. Yeah. You don't know what mood I'm going to be in. But we want to put you in a good mood.
