I had to sort of relearn who I was if you took this thing away. Who am I? Listen to On Purpose with Jay Chetty on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Can I just say I don't think we've talked about the fact that it is Valentine's Day
Starting point is 00:02:50 week, and this should be kind of our, can I say the Super Game when I'm not talking about the Super Game? No, say bread and butter. It's on bread and butter. I see it. Yeah, it's our bread and butter. But it's our huge week. Yes, for the second day podcast. Thank you so much for being here.
Starting point is 00:03:05 It's Brick and Jeffrey in the morning. We got a brand new episode today about to start, but highlighting you are incredible listeners. Speaking of Valentine's Day, Jeff said the other day on our show that the odds are not good for couples who get together on Valentine's Day, get married. Oh, yeah. But, O Customs commented and said, my wife and I are breaking all the odds. We're going for our lucky 13th anniversary this Valentine's Day.
Starting point is 00:03:28 That's for you guys. That's so rad. That's awesome. And I love that they're listening to our show on there. Yeah. It's how it keeps you together. Yeah, I see it. I don't want to do that.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Okay. I don't want to do the dating thing. Yes. You're welcome. Keeping your marriage happy. Yeah, look at that. Love is alive. And maybe it's alive in this second date podcast that starts right now.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Can you dream your perfect date into reality? Oh, well. You can sure try. I know it sounds a little different, but we've got one lady on the phone who says she did just that. Really? No way.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Dreamed it, then did it. Okay, manifested. Yeah. I was going to come up with a nickname for her, but I don't know her first name, so. You should dream of a nickname first, and then it can become a reality. And I don't know who or how or when or why, but it would suck if you dreamed up your perfect date, and then now they're not calling you back. Oh, yeah. Unless, unless, Ali, did you dream that you were going to have to talk to our show, too, on your love journey?
Starting point is 00:04:34 Was that part of it? I did not dream that specifically, no. We're usually in nightmares. Do you often make dreams reality, or is this one-off? I'm trying to make it more of a thing. Okay, all right. Okay. We're going to move on from all of our hurt feelings about what you just said earlier.
Starting point is 00:04:54 And we're going to go ahead. Let's start at the beginning. take us back to how it all began. Yeah, so I actually went to, it was like a self-improvement seminar, I guess you would call it. It was like a weekend-long event. There were several speakers, like motivational speakers, career coaches. So you're on a journey to improve yourself and you're trying to take some steps to make it happen. Exactly, yes.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Hey, good, interesting. Okay. There's one speaker in particular, and the whole thing they were trying to say is the reason you're not giving what you want in life is because you're not asking the universe for the thing you want. Okay. I can see that. Okay. I feel like I ask my mom to not call me anymore, and yet I feel like if anything, I just get more phone calls.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Well, did you ask your mom not to call you or did you ask the universe? No. Jeff's mom is his universe. No. No, but I see, okay. I see your point, though. You're making a mistake. I got you.
Starting point is 00:05:56 All right. So you have to ask the universe for what you want. So what did you ask the universe for? Yeah, the message resonated with me. And so I went home and I would ask the universe to bring me a boyfriend. Oh, okay. Wow. Send me an angel. Wait, is the universe work like a genie wish where you can't wish love upon yourself?
Starting point is 00:06:17 You know how that's part of the genius? She didn't ask for love. She just asked for a man. For a boyfriend. You guys are getting your right. It's not just asking and receiving. You have to put your own work into it. But like, I'm also, I'm an artist as well.
Starting point is 00:06:29 And what I started doing was I took out my sketchbooks and I started drawing men to the point where I was drawing the same man over and over again. What? Do not tell me you met this man in real life, the one you were drawing. Well, I am on the app, but like none of them look like this guy until one day. No. Whoa. Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:56 You don't have the eight-pack abs that I sketch next. Do you sketch height? Do you sketch height in bank accounts too? There was a lot of things that matched, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He had dark hair. It was like a similar haircut. Even the shape of the glasses, I drew glasses on him, and he wore the same shape.
Starting point is 00:07:16 What? Oh my God. So obviously you swiped right on him. Yes. And it's exactly like the seminar. said you put it out there and you know I put it out there I said it vocally and I drew and I drew until yeah it's nice to know that if you're really really obsessed with someone eventually they have to come to you it feels good I don't know I mean what was a connection like when you started talking
Starting point is 00:07:41 really really good sometimes you'll swipe on people and like the conversation fizzles out this was good conversation right away oh my god nice is this a date or what happened was we exchanged numbers and the same day we went from messaging to texting to calling. I find out he has a great job. He's in the tech industry. He tells me about his family. Then we switched to FaceTime. Whoa. Oh wow. FaceTime? That could be awkward. Yeah. Sure, but it's a safe, good way to like kind of like I can get a vibe. I can know what he sounds like his mannerisms and like it. This was probably around like 645 when we were face time. Sorry, how many seconds, 645 and how many seconds? Did you ever meet in person or is this your date?
Starting point is 00:08:28 We plan to meet in person. Like we talked during FaceTime. We were eating our dinner together. It was like we were at a restaurant together. Gotcha. So earlier when you said that the banter between you was good, that was never happening in person. This is all over the phone and video chat. Yeah, but you know when you're on FaceTime with someone you can get like a really good idea.
Starting point is 00:08:50 That's okay. You don't have to make excuses for your dream guy. I understand. You can use filters. cool backgrounds. That's good. And I wanted to go on an in-person date with how quickly we moved through the channel, getting to FaceTime.
Starting point is 00:09:02 But it hasn't happened. You're going really, really quickly through it. Alexis, is this sounding skeptical to you or is it going really fast? Like, what's your take? You didn't show him the sketchbook over FaceTime, did you? Because that would be too much. It's a good question. He saw the pre-manifesting.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Or was the picture of him framed in the background? Yeah. I don't understand how that would be a problem, but I am curious how she answers. Jeff would be flattering. You know, I told him that I sketch and that I do portraits, but I didn't directly say I drew him. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:33 That's better. Because then that would be a little much. But you can continue it. I had a feeling that I was going to meet somebody like you in the near future. Even that's a little. I mean, it is odd that a guy would be that invested to do all of this, the phone calls and the face time and then just drop off afterwards. It doesn't seem like that much to do a FaceTime.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Really? I feel like it is. He sat on there and eight different. with her on the phone. I was confused as to why. I haven't heard anything. I texted him. I sent him messages on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:10:01 He's totally dropped off since the face time. He asked me my question, Jeff. If it was too much. All right. So I don't know if you already told us this, but what's this guy's name? Chris. Chris.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Perfect universe Chris. Not Christopher. No. We'll stick with Chris, God of the universe when we come back and call him and try and get you a second date with your perfect man
Starting point is 00:10:21 that you manifested for yourself. I have a thin air. It's amazing. It's coming up right after this. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update. Dreams can truly become reality. Aww. So inspirational.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I know that for two reasons. The first is because Brooke got to work with me in her career. I think she's mentioned it on her social media many, many times. How badly she wanted to work directly with me. And now her dream has come true. You may be looking at the wrong. social media handle. Brooke is embarrassed
Starting point is 00:10:56 that the truth is coming out and my face is all over her dream board at her desk. The second way that I know dreams can become reality is our listener, Ali, said that she went to a self-improvement seminar where she was told
Starting point is 00:11:11 she can ask the universe for anything and she went home and asked for a boyfriend. Then started drawing the same guy over and over again in her sketchpad, ended up matching with him on the dating apps.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Unfortunately, now the guy is not calling her back. Dude, they haven't even met in person yet. Yes, that is important to note. They never went on an actual date. It was just a FaceTime meetup where he went to the fridge and ate a frozen burrito on camera, which Brooke thought was truly romantic. Next level for a guy. I'm just saying, why put it in the time to FaceTime if you weren't going to plan on meeting up?
Starting point is 00:11:48 I felt like if we weren't vibing, he would have ended the call much sooner. I mean, you sound really chill about it. The thing I worried about is that you put so much pressure on him, on yourself with this whole dream part. I just don't know what I'm going to do, you know? It's like I got the advice. It really resonated. And I spent hours drawing him and I really got it perfect. So I don't know what I'm going to do if this doesn't work out.
Starting point is 00:12:11 There's always another guy to draw. Don't worry, Ali. Yeah, draw a better guy, hotter guy. Guy with 2020 vision even, you know? I know. Brooke draws photos of me all the time and hangs them around her station. She does. It's okay. They're all variation.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I know I'm bringing the truth out in this segment, and it's very embarrassing for both. Yes, I'm very humiliated. Thank you for everything out. Okay, so here I'm going to dial this guy, Chris. Hopefully he picks up, and we can get you two back together, maybe for the first time, face-to-face in real life. I am going to ask the universe to help you help him. I hope the universe isn't too busy. But we do need all the help we can get.
Starting point is 00:12:49 So we'll let the universe in. I'm going to start dialing the number right now. Here we go. Hey, we're looking to speak with Chris. Speaking, who's this? Hey, this is a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hey, Chris. Hi.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I'm, I'm good, guys. I really appreciate it. No, no, no, don't hang up. Sorry, we don't mean to, like, barge into your life right now, Chris. But we do have some questions we'd like to ask you, and I promise you it won't take a lot of time. All right. I have a 3.30, so let's, can we make this quick? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:27 What times are we? Yeah. Okay, yeah. No, we'll just, we'll go through. as quickly as we can. We're doing something called a second date update, trying to help out one of our listeners that you matched with on a dating app recently, a girl named Allie.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Oh, my God. What? It never ends. It never ends. Is that what you just said? No. Okay. What do you mean it never ends?
Starting point is 00:13:53 She just keeps texting me, all right? I've tried to just put this one to bed. Oh, you mean that figuratively, not literally. Yeah, that's too bad. Put it to bed and not take her to bed. Okay. Absolutely figuratively. She just keeps texting me and she asks to hang out.
Starting point is 00:14:09 And I actually think that she thinks that I'm somebody else. What? What do you mean? Well, I don't know. I don't know what she told you. But we started texting on the apps. Yeah. And it was all fine and dandy.
Starting point is 00:14:25 It was great. But then she messages me. And she tells me that I've been dreaming of me. you. And first I'm like, all right, she might be an artist. She's kind of, you know, into that stuff. And then it's romantic. I mean, it can probably feel like a lot. But. Yeah, I think, I think a lot of people express excitement in different ways. That was probably her way of just saying, I'm so glad that I matched with you. Yeah. Right? It was sweet until it wasn't. And she sends me a sketch of a guy. Oh, she did. Oh, she sent you this. Oh, okay. We didn't know that. Yeah. She sent in the sketch of this guy and it is not me. But it's someone,
Starting point is 00:15:00 that I do know. What do you mean you do them? In my profile pics on my app, my uncle is in two of them. Wait, your uncle is in the pictures of your profile? And it is the spitting image of this guy that she's sketched. She's drawing your uncle. Wow, the universe did. That was a picture of you.
Starting point is 00:15:20 That was a picture of you. Uh-oh. Oh, God. This is supposed to happen. Okay. Wait, the photo on his profile or the... You didn't hear that, did you? Well, cats out of the bag at this point, because I need to tell you...
Starting point is 00:15:30 Chris, Ali has actually been listening to this call the entire time. It was like one minute. Yeah, I know. She was supposed to wait a little bit longer before she jumped in, but I guess the universe told her to go for it. Listen, Ali, can I just talk to you straight here? My uncle is staying on my couch right now. He's going through a divorce.
Starting point is 00:15:49 So I panicked, and I asked him to fill in for me when you wanted to FaceTime. So I asked him to get on the call and pretend to be me, and my uncle, he was happy to do it. What? I have red hair, freckles. I am a ginger-like kiss by fire. Okay. It doesn't mean you're ugly, bro.
Starting point is 00:16:09 No, no. It just doesn't mask a picture. Oh, okay. No, not at all. Okay. So you lied? You lied to me? But I didn't necessarily lie.
Starting point is 00:16:20 You just put so much pressure on it. You wanted a guy that looked like that, so I figured I'd step out of the way and let my uncle talk to you. Okay. So how old is he? She's in his 40s. Okay. It's time to even like them, right?
Starting point is 00:16:37 Yeah. You had chemistry with him, right? Yeah. Why wouldn't you want a divorced guy sleeping on his nephew's couch? Yeah, that's true. Brooke, leave that out of this. Oh, sorry. I have no idea how she got confused by it.
Starting point is 00:16:48 I have six pictures up there and he's in two of them. I mean, all of them. It's the first two. And when I saw the first picture and I saw, I'm like, there he is. That's the guy I drew. I didn't need to look at the rest of the pictures. Okay. People see what they're looking for, and you obviously were looking for him.
Starting point is 00:17:07 All right, so this whole thing was set up. However, it happened. And one thing led to another, and I did talk to the guy that was in my photo. It was just your uncle. So what's his deal? What do you mean? What's his deal? You're not upset?
Starting point is 00:17:24 Is he available? You don't feel. Wait, you don't feel lied to or deceived or anything? I feel lied to by Chris, but if his uncle was the man that I'm looking for, then yeah. Yeah, sometimes the universe has a roundabout way of getting to the destination that you want to be at. So Chris, I think what Ali is trying to ask you is what exactly is the sitch with your uncle right now? Is he ready to swing vines to the next lady? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:51 That's not how you say it. Well, how do you say it? Get closure from his last relationship. Is he ready to date again? What Brooke said. My uncle, he hasn't shaved in about a week. Oh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Are you blocking him? He's going through it right now. Yeah. Listen, if you want to, if you have at it, listen. Hold on a second. Uncle Phil. Talk about your family. No, no.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Don't. Don't. It sounds like a piece of garbage. Don't bring your uncle onto this call. I'll tell you this. They sound exactly the same. Oh. Oh, I'm related.
Starting point is 00:18:25 Interesting. I'll tell you this. Ellie, after you guys got off to FaceTime, he was ready to go. He said, I would definitely get with that. Oh. That is so romantic. Wow. Is that the line you were hoping for, Ellie?
Starting point is 00:18:40 You know, I was hoping the universe would give me something similar to that, yes. Okay. I would get with that forever. I mean, you're that. He's how that it. Yeah. They're already speaking the same language. I can't believe everyone's on the same page.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I mean, he's down for it, but he's, He's going to need a few more months before he can actually legally go out with it. But what is marriage these days, right? What? He could date while he's, while it's being processed. There's no rule against that. Oh, that's a little messy, though. I don't think they care about messy, Jose.
Starting point is 00:19:14 This whole thing. So, I guess normally we'd offer to send Alie and Chris on a date, but... We'll send him on a date with a legally married man. Hey, come on. They're separated. On his way out of him. the marriage. Yeah, they're separated, but he's sleeping on my couch. I'm serious. Okay. Well, you may wake up one morning, and Allie and your uncle will be on that couch. I hope the universe manifests something
Starting point is 00:19:39 more comfortable than a couch. I can't believe I'm asking this, but Allie, do you want to go out with Chris's uncle when the time is right and we'll pay for it? That's a weird answer. Can I get his name? What is your uncle's name? It's Uncle Phil. Oh. I just like the show. Like Fresh Prince. All right, great. And so, Chris, as your uncle's proxy, will you say yes on his behalf? I do believe this is a legally binding agreement. Do you think he'd like to go out with Allie? Yeah, he would.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Okay. Look at that. Yeah, just a classy family. He's like a sleep on a couch right now. I love. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Celebrate your pride with the station that's as bold, vibrant, and diverse as you are. I are pride, kind of.
Starting point is 00:20:25 from dance anthems to pop icons and hits from 2SLGBTQ plus Canadian artists. It's the soundtrack that keeps life loud and proud. Just ask your smart speaker to play IHeart Pride Canada. Stream us on your phone or listen now at iHeartRadio.ca. Come together, celebrate love. Pride. Feel it all year long. What do you do in the headlines don't explain what's happening inside of you?
Starting point is 00:20:58 I'm Ben Higgins. And if you can hear me is where culture meets the soul. place for real conversation. Each episode, I sit down with people from all walks of life, celebrities, thinkers, and everyday folks, and we go deeper than the polished story. We talk about
Starting point is 00:21:15 what drives us, what shapes us, and what gives us hope. We get honest about the big stuff, identity when you don't recognize yourself anymore, loss that changes you, purpose when success isn't enough, peace when your mind won't slow down, faith when it's complicated.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Some guests have answers. Most are still figuring it out. If you've ever felt like there has to be more to the story, this show is for you. Listen to if you can hear me on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. How come no one's talking about Uncle Phil being asleep on the couch when we call? Because it's almost noon when we taped that. Oh, he's the best wingman. He got a date while he was asleep, dog.
Starting point is 00:22:01 That's crazy. Nobody is shocked that Phil's asleep on the couch. Yeah, in the circumstance. I'm guessing Phil's wife, soon to be ex-wife, would be kind of happy he's got a date going on. He's going to be out of her hair. Yeah. She doesn't sound like she's going to be jealous. No, not at all.
Starting point is 00:22:14 And Ali didn't seem bothered by it really at all. I couldn't believe it. Like, you've been lied to and deceived. You talk to a man that you thought was someone else. And you're like, well, is he single? No, it goes to show she trusts the universe. She's like, I don't care what he does. I don't care the situation he's in.
Starting point is 00:22:31 That's my man. I mean... Nobody ever said the universe was trustworthy. No. And do you really want to put your eggs in the basket of a twice-divorce uncle who's sleeping at noon on his nephew's couch during the weekday? I don't know. Although he would say he would get with that. So that is pretty romantic.
Starting point is 00:22:47 We don't know what that means, though. Third times a charm. That saying comes from somewhere. Oh, yes. Maybe Ali is the medicine that Uncle Phil needs in order to get himself back on his feet. I'm sure it's not working on himself. That's a good point. And why are we talking so much about Uncle Phil?
Starting point is 00:23:03 Now we're manifesting Phil And I'm drawing pictures of him in my head Okay, that's strange The universe works in strange ways And so do we if you reach out to the show Email us, we'll call that person Who's not calling you back Go find out all of our second dates
Starting point is 00:23:19 They're up on podcast wherever you get yours At Brooke and Jeffrey I'm Bowen-Yen And I'm Matt Rogers During this season of the Two Guys Five Rings podcast In the lead-up to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games
