Out of the thousands of phone calls that we've done over the years, I've never heard of a couple meeting the way that Jacob met his date. Oh, really? I love this. A good meet story? And the cool thing is, they both made money off their own date.
Starting point is 00:02:05 Okay. Wow. So double winning here. Let's find out more. Jacob, welcome to the show. Hey, how's it going? Can you hear me? Oh, yeah. You sound richer from whatever you did to meet your date.
Starting point is 00:02:18 Money bags. We'll find out where the date started in just a second. But first, tell us about the girl. What's her name? Brenly. Brenly. That's a unique name the first time you met brendley like the first moment you laid eyes on her did you know you were like into her uh not immediately kind of heavy how many babies do you want to have? It's like more than that.
Starting point is 00:02:45 It's like chemistry, you know? Like, do you instantly know? Nobody instantly knows. You're making me sick. No one instantly knows. When I met my husband, I instantly knew that I wanted to do him. Yes, absolutely. He was in a relationship at the time, so it's offensive.
Starting point is 00:02:58 I did not know that. Okay. Let's focus on more. All right. Yeah, Jacob, were there butterflies going off? Did rainbows shoot across the sky? What happened? Why are you guys such haters of love?
Starting point is 00:03:07 I saw the picket fence and the minivan. Oh, my God. Oh, fuck. He said he thinks. No, no, no, no, no. Look, he was really pretty, but I didn't know yet. Okay, thank you. I appreciate that honest answer.
Starting point is 00:03:18 That's all I wanted to know. Normal. Where were you guys? How did you meet? So this is the weird part. We met at one of those health research studies what is that you know when you kind of go in for a few days and they do like medical testing i had a buddy do like a sleep study once is it like that spend the night is it kind of like
Starting point is 00:03:36 that no no it was like six hours a day we still were able to go home okay so are you or one of the test subjects yeah look i was laid off at the time and my friend was like hey you can make a few hundred bucks for a few days i was like dude i'm in hold on are they like giving you medicine and see if you have an allergic reaction like what do you do i don't even know what it is it was called a bps study what's that what does it stand for i i i don't know i google like i'm glad you did your research didn to. Well, it was supposed to be about anonymity, right? And they didn't want us to know anything or it could ruin the study. So all we were doing was more like athletic things.
Starting point is 00:04:13 So it was like, go to this side of the room, walk here, walk to the other end. And they'd do it and then we'd do it and then we'd maybe run a little bit. Weird. Did you feel like a lab rat? I felt like a hamster. Okay. He he's like they did make us run on wheels yeah but i mean it's pretty crazy so you're in this group and she's there too yeah yeah so we we we're in a room a waiting room at the beginning and she was sitting across from me and we chatted a little bit and she's like it was kind of similar situations like oh i got laid off too oh so you bonded but i got to know her better later because we we got split up in like groups of eight and
Starting point is 00:04:49 she happened to be in my group oh okay okay that's fate bro i just have to ask like is the test study is that considered your date i don't know that was not the first i guess date that was just us being forced to be together okay so what I mean romantic studying kissing stuff at what point in this like medical exercise do you make your move to ask her out well right before it ended I was saying hey maybe we can grab a cup of coffee after we get out and she was like cool so we went to a coffee shop nearby and we're able to chit chat a little bit got to know her better than you you know, lab rat talk. I know.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I just keep picturing you guys in like an all white room and white jumpsuits, you know. I'm imagining Squid Game right now. Yeah. It's like some two way mirror and everybody's watching you. And the voice comes on. It's like climb the rope. Or else. So there was the weirdest part was when we were forced to lay down face first on a beanbag.
Starting point is 00:05:48 What? Yeah. What is that study? I just heard, like you said, I heard the voice. Now there's a beanbag. Lay down flat. Maybe this is like some sort of intelligence study. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Let me ask. Where did you find this? That's what I'm saying. Because like, is this an internet ad? It's not a number in a bathroom with bathroom like rest stop it's saw nor the flashing I was wondering where the love connection was happening and now it's coming in Okay, I know we're concentrating a lot about this experience for you it's interesting it is but i want to know about
Starting point is 00:06:29 coffee how is that no coffee was good i mean it was definitely normal now we were dressed like normal humans and uh good you know when you bond over something traumatic it's easier to bond yeah you know we both were talking about like we wanted to go to college but didn't go uh we both were like into mexican food yeah like jazz music brindley's not calling you back like i can't believe you experienced this all with her you go to coffee even if she only wanted to be friends like it seems like you guys are so connected at this point bonded well that's what I'm thinking. Because I did vibe enough. And I was like, you know, let me be a little bit more straightforward.
Starting point is 00:07:08 And it's like, I'd like to see you again for a second date. And she was like, well, you can text me because I'm a little busy right now. Oh. And so I did. I didn't hear anything for a few days. But I was like, let me not keep jumping the gun and text all the time. Oh, no. But it's been like five days.
Starting point is 00:07:22 And I text maybe two more times. And I still haven't heard anything. That's weird. You're not that busy. Are you worried that she's laying down face first and someone else is being bagged? Let's call Brynn Lee. We're going to play a song first.
Starting point is 00:07:35 We'll come back. We'll give her a call, and we'll try and get your second date update. All right, man? All right, sounds good to me, man. All right, hold on. Second date update. You're in the middle of a second date update update and
Starting point is 00:07:45 we're gonna find out how the couple is doing right after you hear part two how is hallmark not doing this love story right now two people disturbing down on their luck volunteer for a clinical study together to make some quick cash and the scientist school was to find out if they have bps whatever that is for all we know it's a made-up acronym yeah they never explained it to them and why was a beanbag involved that's what they found at the end that the two of them were both great at laying face down in beanbags yeah so they have that going for them but what-huh. But what about love? Oh. Is that a factor here? That's our job to be the researchers. That's right.
Starting point is 00:08:29 We're going to figure this out. I'm glad that they left that to the real scientists. Okay. That's supposed to be us? Jacob, how's your face? What? I'm great. How's your heart?
Starting point is 00:08:38 Aw, buddy. Oh, Lord. Jeff's taking this very seriously. He's actually about to put on latex gloves. I'm invested in this. He brings them with him everywhere. I actually am surprised she's, like, ghosting you. So am I.
Starting point is 00:08:52 I think we can get this one back on track. I mean, we've definitely started in worse places when we're calling people before. There actually seems like there might be something here. So I'm going to dial her number right now. You feel ready? I'm ready. All right, let's do this man hello hey is this brenly uh this is brenly not brenly yeah i was gonna say something sorry um brenly brenly brenly i'm sorry who are you oh yeah Brenly. Yeah, I was going to say something, Jeff. We're saying it first and last name. Brenly.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Brenly. Brenly. I'm sorry. Who are you? Oh, yeah. So we're a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning. Jeffrey. I'm Jeff.
Starting point is 00:09:39 And we're doing something called a second date update. I knew I wanted to call him that. I'm sorry. Why are you calling me? Because we're doing this second date update thing. That's where we help our listeners reach out to someone that they met out in the world that they had a connection with. It's kind of like a love study. Recently, we heard that you were involved in a little bit of a study with a guy named Jacob.
Starting point is 00:10:00 All right. Jacob. Jacob. Yeah, Jacob. That was a joke. Yeah, I know him. Super funny. Yeah, I mean, he seemed to think that you guys made a real connection. Like, one, during the study, but then afterwards, it sounds like you guys went to coffee.
Starting point is 00:10:15 I probably shouldn't talk about this. I'm going to get in trouble. You're going to get in trouble? It's like a case study thing? We don't need to know about, like, the medical stuff. Yeah, we're just calling because Jacob said he had a great time with you, and he hasn't been able to reach you since you guys hung out, and he doesn't really know why.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Yeah, I just don't really think I should be talking to you about this. Why? Are you single? I'm not involved with anybody. Okay. We're not trying to delve too deep into your personal life. We're just trying to help Jacob understand what's going on between you two. I mean, from his perspective, you guys spent a lot of time together.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Like, it seemed like you, to him, made a real connection. Yeah, but everybody had to sign a waiver, so. Well, he also told us about the strong connection you felt while lying face down in beanbags. He told you that? Yeah. He definitely wasn't supposed to talk about the beanbags you felt while lying face down in beanbags. He told you that? Yeah. Yeah. He definitely wasn't supposed to talk about the beanbags or anything like that. Oh.
Starting point is 00:11:10 We didn't know that. Sorry, we don't mean to break beanbag code on the show. I mean, honestly, we don't know who did the study. We don't know where you were signed up. And no offense, we don't care. Yeah. We care more about you two. I mean, it's true.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Like, we don't know what it was for. Like, we're just talking about, like, plain clothes, non-medical dates. Yeah. We're just focused on Jacob. Can you tell us what you thought of Jacob? Okay. Well, I was attracted to him. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:34 He's cute, kind, he's a good person, but... That's great. So, wait, why aren't you calling him back then? He really likes you, too. It sounds perfect. Well, to be honest with you, even though I was part of the study i'm really a researcher i was researching him the whole time and they weren't supposed to know that oh my gosh wait a minute so you worked for the study why don't you
Starting point is 00:12:02 have to lay down in a beanbag? This has been driving me crazy. Wow. I can't really talk about that. It's to look at their butts. I knew it. What? Oh, he admits it. You said yourself, though, that you thought that Jacob was attractive.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Well, that's the thing. Like, I'm attracted to him, but I feel like it's unethical to go out with him. But you already went out to him to coffee. Why did you agree to that? Well, the study was a two day study and he asked me out halfway through and I felt like I had to follow through with it. But even that was crossing the line. I mean, that makes sense, though. If you say no, then you probably won't be able to. But it's such a good love story, you know, like the researcher with the lab rat that she's not supposed to date. It kind of scares me.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I don't know. I don't want to be the rat in that situation. What kind of love story? I think it did get a little bit juicier. See? Before you go back to the lab, Brenly, we do need to let you know that Jacob has been listening on the other line this entire time. Oh, the rat's here. And he wants to talk to you.acob hello not a rat a hamster
Starting point is 00:13:10 sorry buddy now i'm a little confused did anything that you said was any of it true or was it all made up well the quote-unquote facts were made up about me but i i do enjoy your company and i do like you and i like hanging out with you but you don't like mexican food no i like mexican food but like you know the whole part about not going to college and well i mean obviously you you had some education since you're a researcher. Yeah, I mean, I'm not a huge fan of jazz, but I do like you and I would like to get to know you. But at this point, I just don't you feel like it's completely unethical? Well, isn't the study over?
Starting point is 00:13:58 His part is over, but my part is not. I still have work to do and research to do. How long does it go on for? I mean, are we talking this thing will wrap up in a couple months or are we... Well, these things take years. I mean... Years? Is BPS really that big of a problem? I've literally never heard of it before.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Hey, you shouldn't even be saying that on the radio. I understand that you think it's not ethical, but love isn't always ethical. Sometimes you just have to follow your heart and ignore the ethics. Love should be ethical, Joe. I would go it's always ethical okay sometimes you just have to follow your heart and ignore the ethics i would go it's always ethical yeah especially especially when you travel to thailand there is no ethics it's all love over there i don't get it and in that spirit i would like to offer this we're not involved in any of that okay well
Starting point is 00:14:45 I mean look I say this like weird things start from the strangest places and you just don't always have answers sometimes you just
Starting point is 00:14:52 go with the flow right and so I say I thought we had a connection too I still think you're you're extremely gorgeous and you had a nice
Starting point is 00:15:00 personality and if that's true hey what the heck right I mean but that's up to you at the end of the day dude you're making this hard i can't see us on the radio but i do want to ask you like just to save me an email to send out is there anything weird going on with your urine at all
Starting point is 00:15:17 i'm not allowed to answer over the air okay I thought you were going to ask him to sign some waiver and pay the relationship or something. Wait, wait, wait. I'm not allowed to answer over the air. Okay. There you go. See, you can ask him about his urine on your first date and we'll pay for it. Here's what I can agree to right now. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:37 You can text me and we can discuss things off air. Oh. That's a yes. It's like a BP yes. Yes. I feel like she was a little coy when she said that. It's at least a BP maybe. So that's good enough for me.
Starting point is 00:15:53 I think we're going to try and send you guys on another date. I'm not agreeing to that. I'm just saying we can talk about things. That's cute. Are you excited, Jacob? I know what that means. I can only not agree or agree. So I can't say it on the air either. Yay!
Starting point is 00:16:08 I don't know if you fully understood the study. I think that's only to her. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. It's been months since that phone call happened, and now they're back again. Oh, my God. For an update update. Yay! And we don't hear this a lot, but Brenly, apparently something happened after your second date aired.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Tell us what went on. Yeah, well, so one of the people on my research team heard it. Oh no. Oh, that's not good. Did you get fired? We're so sorry. That's our fault. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Well, it was super secret, so i did get fired for talking about the place oh my god it's okay brooke will pay your salary you're not calling us with like a lawsuit and that's the upstate yeah i feel like we were pretty good about not disclosing any secrets about it though like we didn't even know what bps meant what don't say it again this is why you are not the secret keeper. She's already fired. She can't get double fired. Are you doing okay, Brenly? Have you found other work? Yeah, well,
Starting point is 00:17:11 here's the thing. I did. I never really should have talked to you guys about it, but I'm glad I did because Jacob was actually really there for me. He was a really good friend about it. He helped me through all of that. Friend, though, not lover oh jacob is there hi jacob hey how's it going yeah i felt i felt awful i mean i kind of felt responsible
Starting point is 00:17:31 because obviously it wouldn't happen if i didn't call in so i just tried to do my best to be a really good friend to her good thank you for taking the blame off of us so where are you guys at now i mean well I actually got another job. Good. Yeah, it's in a similar field. I'm getting paid like almost twice as much. Hey, so you owe us money. Yeah. And what about Jacob?
Starting point is 00:17:56 Where are you guys at? That's what I'm excited to hear about. Yeah, well, it's good because it freed me up to be able to start dating Jacob. There was no conflict of interest. Congrats, Jacob. Jacob, were you secretly happy when she got fired? I'm not going to say I was happy per se,
Starting point is 00:18:12 but let's say things happen for a reason. Sweet, dude. All you have to do is get your lady fired from her job and to find love. Speaking of, Brooke, management wants to talk to you after this. I'm sure it's good. I'm sure it's good news. Brooke will totally find love. I of, Brooke, management wants to talk to you after this.
