And today we get a little special update, update. That's where we have one of our couples from a previous second date. call in and tell us what's happened since they were on the show Now if you're new to these or you just need a reminder
Starting point is 00:03:00 We do play the original second date So everybody's up to speed when we get the couple back on Yes Because we don't want to go and explain everything No, no, no, no. You can hear the original And then listen to the update right after Yep, and then right after there'll be a little commercial break So just fast forward
Starting point is 00:03:16 Yes Unless you're my boss is listening Then totally listen to the full commercial break And then you'll hear the couple back on after that Yes, excited. Yeah. But we must discuss yesterday's second day. Got to.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Because ORA was back. Unfortunately. We did not know we would be calling ORA. I feel like we need to save her number, so it comes up when people give us her number again. Or block the number. Maybe we can do that. You know, she's never been the most liked person we have on the show. I don't know that she helped herself.
Starting point is 00:03:45 We got a lot of, she has two brain cells and they're fighting with each other. I knew her name was familiar. She mean he can do better. Yeah, Orra will meet her love one day, not She'll be 60 years old And talk about how all the men are the same And nobody treats are good Oh, goodness, that was low
Starting point is 00:04:00 She's insufferable I listen to this podcast to chill at work But instead I'm pissed off now Sorry about that Yeah I mean there's somebody for everybody Even for ORA Sure
Starting point is 00:04:10 Yeah, right Oh, one person did comment She's 100% correct Oh, so hey There you go She's not joining to everyone Our podcast found the one person Which is awesome
Starting point is 00:04:19 Oh wait, that was from ORA Yeah We got a walk around there, too. Hey, thanks for being here. We're going to start your update update right now. Out of all the second date calls we've ever made over the years, and we've done literally thousands of them. I can say honestly, Brooke has never been more passionate than she was
Starting point is 00:04:40 during this particular call. It all happened because she shared one common interest with the dude on the phone. And if Brooke is into it, it, you know it's going to be weird. But here's the good news. Her fire, her excitement has led us now to this moment where we're getting a special update, update from the person who shares her same weird passion. You'll hear all of it and more coming up in your second date update update right after
Starting point is 00:05:14 this. Second date update. Alexis, when you go out on a date, here's an important question. Question. Do you do phone up or phone face down on the table? I would put it in my purse usually. I don't even have it out. Oh, wow. I don't even trust the guy to be near your phone. Do your hands start to shake? I got one hand in my purse under the table. I got a touch as I feel it vibrate. You know, I just saw it was like a twitch at the table the whole time when she couldn't see it.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Well, I bring it up because some people think phone face down means you're hiding something that you don't want them to see. Oh, my sketch. Look at us right now. Oh, her phone's up. You just put it on do not disturb if you don't want a text to show up. Yeah. I think that it's polite to put it face down. Well, phone up would be more like you're kind of an open book or an open phone. I would think it's your boring and I would rather look at my phone. Okay. The whole reason that I bring it up is because one guy's cell is at the center of something that could have possibly gone wrong that night.
Starting point is 00:06:11 He's not really sure. So let's welcome Paul to the show. Paul, how you doing, ma'am? I'm okay. How are you guys? We know where the phone is right now, Paul. Wait, where is it? Up to his year.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Oh. Oh, God. I was like, wait a minute. Or is it? Okay. Paul, don't worry about the phone. Just let's talk about the girl that you met. What's her name?
Starting point is 00:06:31 When I was this girl, Kelly. Okay. Where did you meet Kelly? So, yeah, we've known each other at the gym. And she says normally I tell guys I have a boyfriend, but I'm not going to tell you that. So it's like, cool. Oh, wow. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:43 That's a good line on her part, too, because it's like, I'm very wanted. I have to turn men down all the time. time. I'm going to make an exception for you. So what did you guys do? So both our schedules are really busy. It was hard to find time to hang out. So we actually settled on a gym date. Wait, well, huh? Wait a minute. You're like, let's just meet back here at the same time tomorrow. Whose idea was that? We just kind of both agree because we couldn't find any other time, you know. You guys really can't skip one hour at the gym to go get one drink. And they're gym rats, but together. Well, that was just part of the date.
Starting point is 00:07:19 So she did come back to my place and we cooked kind of like a healthy meal. Oh, okay. That's cute. That would be fun too of your health conscious, like, oh, let's... Yeah. So how was dinner? It was good. Kind of funny situation happened where I was in the other room doing the dishes and I heard my phone beep, like a text came through.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Okay. And I left it in there with her and I was like, hey, can you see who texted and what they said? Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Why would you do such a thing, sir? Extremely trusting. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:07:50 You have everything to hide. I know, but here's the thing. Like, if I was on a date, my phone would be inundated with text messages for my friends. Oh, how's it going? How ugly is he? I thought it was going to be like all the naked photos that you've taken. No, I sent those already to whoever I was on. You and I have very different concerns when it's looking at your phones.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Naked is never an issue for me. Gotcha. So you said, hey, take a look at my phone and tell me who texted and what they said? Yeah. She was kind of surprised. She was like, what? But I don't have anything to hide. I gave her my passcode.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I don't care. Wow. Okay. Jumping right in. Okay. So she tells me it was one of my friends who wanted to know if I'm meeting up tonight. And I asked her to respond to him, tell him I'm on a date with a pretty girl cooking dinner. Oh, that's a good line.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Is this a green flag? Like, ladies? I don't know. Now I'm sorry to think you're trying too hard, though. That it's like. I see. I can see that. Like, it was a setup?
Starting point is 00:08:47 Like, yeah, you had your friend text. on purpose. Hey, bro, at 5.30, text me, and I'm going to, yeah. The guys are that organized, so I doubt it. But, I mean, and who cares? He just called you pretty. Like, I mean, I was doing the dishes, right? I know he's so excited.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Can you tell us, was that set up? No, absolutely not. Okay. Oh, my gosh. That was good. Just got it like that, bro. Very smooth. I mean, could you tell she was flattered?
Starting point is 00:09:10 Yeah, sure. Girls like being called pretty, right? I mean. Well, and the trust. Like, you know, again, could be too trusting, but it's at least something. opposite where it's like, don't look at my phone. Give that back to me. Or it's like, really, you have nothing to hide?
Starting point is 00:09:22 Are you not interesting? You're not cheating on anyone? Not that's interesting? Probably never thought about that, Paul. But what happened afterwards? Yeah, so I didn't come back in the room for a few minutes, finished the dishes and all that, but... And that is hot.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Can I just say? Yeah, the dishes. As a married woman, I understand why you would think it's hot. But, Alexis, I don't think there is. I mean, I don't care. Yeah, exactly. You will someday. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Man, will you? And he's a gym, bro, so you're imagining him shirtless doing it. All right. Is this a sounding pretty good, I think? Did we miss any details? No, you know, that's it. I didn't have anything weird or incriminating.
Starting point is 00:10:01 I didn't get a bad vibe from her, but you guys already asked if anything weird happened, so that's the only thing that was out of the ordinary. Did you kiss her? No kiss, but we hugged, and she left, like, a little while later. Okay, have you seen her at the gym? Yeah, it's only been a few days,
Starting point is 00:10:18 So I haven't seen her, but I'm just kind of getting the vibe that she's not really into hang out again. I don't know. Yeah, you can feel that. It's like an energy chef. Yeah, that's weird because you were so open with her. I don't know. Well, and they knew each other pretty. I mean, like, not really well, but like enough from the gym.
Starting point is 00:10:34 And you know you're going to see each other again. It is weird to go back to the place you just had a date with a guy and, like, be by yourself. Maybe we're just being over eager. We're just all very eager to hear what she has to say. When we come back and call her, hopefully she picks up and gives us some answers for your second date update. right after this second date update you're in the middle of a second date update update and we're going to find out how the couple is doing right after you hear part two is it possible to be so open and so trusting that it's actually a turnoff what does that sound funny i mean that's what we're
Starting point is 00:11:07 wondering after talking to our listener paul because he gave his date the password to his cell phone so that she could text a friend for him while he was busy doing dishes in the other room yeah in the the room, so he heard his phone go up and was just like, whatever that was, go check it. Yeah, and he felt comfortable doing that because he says he's got nothing to hide on there. Yeah. She can go look through whatever she wants and won't find anything weird. Is he sure? There's nothing that's weird on your phone? What do you? Oh, you think she's... Well, she has the passcode, you know? Oh, so maybe she found something else that wasn't in
Starting point is 00:11:40 the text. Right. If she's not sketchy, but just weird. Yeah. It's not. Paul, is there anything that you're not telling us? Do you have a furry app? on there that you left open? No, guys, I'm serious. I don't have anything weird on there, I promise. It just sounds like such a nice time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:57 And maybe that's the problem. That was so nice. That was what Alexis said. It's like too nice where it's like, ah, this guy's not even fun anymore. And you reply? You like reply promptly to your friends too. Like, it can wait 10 minutes. Like also a quick reply or, you know?
Starting point is 00:12:12 Did he give his friends the ick as well? I don't know. They're like, wow, you never respond this quick. The more we talk about it, the worse. It's getting for me. Are we giving you a little bit of a complex yet, Paul? Maybe, yeah, I don't know. Good.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I'm getting one. Okay. Now, hopefully we can find more of your issues when we call Kelly for you and see what she has to say. Hopefully she picks up. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Kelly? This is.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Hey, Kelly, you're on the radio right now with a show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Hey, Kelly. Good morning, Kelly. Wow. Hey. Hey. What's up?
Starting point is 00:12:57 You know who we are? You've listened to the show? For sure. I'm just... That means like once on TikTok me. Yeah. That's fine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:06 We'll take it. But hey, we'll take it. We appreciate it. Yeah. Maybe you're familiar with us because of our segment, the second date update. Is that how you know us? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:16 I've definitely heard. heard of that. It's not because Jose being handsome is so viral. Yeah. Darn it. That was last month, Jose. Okay. That was last.
Starting point is 00:13:24 I see that on my picture. Weird. Your algorithm's all messed up then. But Kelly, we're doing a second aid update right now because of a guy that you went out with recently who's been trying to get a hold of you. Paul from the gym? Yeah, I had a feeling that might be what this is about when you said that.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Okay. In a good way? Yeah. Oh, no. It sounded like such a fun time you and Paul had. The date itself was pretty great, honestly. Like, I don't really have complaints about that. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:00 I guess I just did something I really shouldn't have done, and it just took me out of it. It ruined it for me. Uh-oh. You gave yourself the ick. What did you do? Because we heard that you two did a gym workout, then had dinner back at Paul's place. Oh, my God, he did the dishes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Brooke is really excited about that. You're not wrong about any of that. Like, that's all 100% true. And, I mean, what a great date to have with somebody who you've known for a while and have been going to the same gym like for a long time. Like, it kind of all was coming together really nicely, like, almost a little too good to be true. Like, no. So what could possibly ruin it then?
Starting point is 00:14:36 Like, me. Me. What do you mean me? Oh, my God. Okay. So, basically, he got a text when he was doing the dishes. and I was in the living room where his phone was, like, sitting on the Twitter. Yeah, we heard that.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Oh, until you know about the passcode and everything, yeah? Right. And he even asked you to send a message to his friend for him. Yeah. And we guess that maybe you looked at other things on his phone? Not initially. Okay. But your girl got a little curious, and I went back for seconds.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I'm not going to lie. I mean, he did give you the passcode to his phone. The carrot is dangly right there. You're hungry. What did you find? Oh, my God. I can't even believe this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:17 You know the notes app on your phone? Oh, you went deep into his phone. Those are personal. Yeah, that can be like a journal. That's right, right when I need to talk to a therapist about. Okay. You opened his notes app? What was in there?
Starting point is 00:15:29 What was in it? So he wrote a bunch of, there's a bunch of drafts in there, and there are a bunch of, like, over-the-top, aggressive, negative Yelp reviews. Yelp reviews? Oh. It's not even like, if I'm not even like, if I'm really, businesses. It's not for restaurants. He didn't find like a hair in his food. No. These are for
Starting point is 00:15:49 public restrooms. What? He's a public restroom reviewer? Do you think he wrote him or did he like copy and paste him from? Oh. Like are they jokes? Because that would be, that sounds like a joke to me, a review of a public restroom. There is zero percent chance. Like this came from his soul.
Starting point is 00:16:07 He did not write this on a win. Like there was one in there about like the McDonald's on Fifth Avenue and he was going He was like The hinges on the door were like loose and the latch was hanging on for dear life like it was a marriage on its last leg like he's just going on
Starting point is 00:16:23 And it's useful because now I know not to go to that McDonald's so So you didn't you didn't think it was attractive Honestly it seemed like a little unhinged someone would be having that in this phone Oh come on Hey I think you're trying to find something wrong with him
Starting point is 00:16:38 Because you're scared it was going so good Because listen that's just how that's how I felt okay well your feelings are totally valid but I believe that Paul's feelings are probably also equally as valid if not more because they are his private notes so we should probably hear his side of the story because he is on the other line right now waiting to talk to you stop it yeah I would hear that and his favorite restroom Paul oh my gosh I'm here what's up hey you're the bathroom he's a toilet king how are you feeling based on what you just heard there
Starting point is 00:17:11 I mean, I don't really see what's the big deal about some Yelp reviews. I'm with him. I mean, who wants to eat at a restaurant where the bathroom's filthy? He's right, though. It does reflect on the staff. Really, have you ever looked up the bathroom before you go somewhere? Not before, no. But when you better.
Starting point is 00:17:31 If I went and saw a review for a restaurant that said it had an icky bathroom, out. Sorry, kids. You would leave yourself out in the woods in a hole. Listen to me. That is clean. Oh, okay. Maybe Paul can leave a review of the bathroom out in the forest where you went. I mean, Kelly, think of how creative those reviews were. I mean, you've got a man who is good with words. We've been doing the show for like 13 years. Brooke has never stood up for a man like she has public bathroom Yelp reviews.
Starting point is 00:18:00 What's wrong with it? Honestly, like you are gassing me up a little bit. Like you're making me see the other side of things a little bit. Okay, Kelly, here's the important question. in his apartment was his bathroom clean. Oh, my, I did not even think of that. Are you asking her to review his? Oh, I wasn't that excited about it. I will say two things. Number one, it was sparkling clean.
Starting point is 00:18:26 I will give him that very clean bathroom. Okay. However, thank you. Number two, I do not appreciate the fact that the toilet paper was facing the way I don't appreciate. It was like the under pole. The big debate is supposed to be over, not under, right, Brooke? Girl, you just found a man with a clean bathroom that does his dishes, and you are trying to find a problem. Listen to me.
Starting point is 00:18:47 You've been right the whole time. You cannot pass up this opportunity. I don't know. It seems to be a pretty big issue for her, but Kelly, I'm still going to ask you anyway, would you give him another shot at a second day, and we would pay for it? I take ownership. Like, I should not have gone through this man's phone. That's good. And so as long as the place you are sending us has a solid.
Starting point is 00:19:10 bathroom reading from him Now it's suddenly like the most important thing to Kelly too Now she's on board Paul I'd love to go out with Kelly again If they ever get married They're going to rent one of those really fancy Port-a-Potties where it has like you know what I'm saying It's like a trailer
Starting point is 00:19:27 Your stories always end up in a trailer They always started there too Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning I'm Jorge Ramos And I'm Paola Ramos Together we're launching The Moment a new podcast about what it means to live through a time as uncertain
Starting point is 00:19:44 as this one. We sit down with politicians. I would be the first immigrant mayor in generations but 40% of New Yorkers were born outside of this country. Artists and activists, I mean, do you ever feel demoralized? I might personally lose hope. This individual
Starting point is 00:20:01 might lose the faith. But there's an institution that doesn't lose faith. And that's what I believe in. To bring you death and analysis from a unique Latino perspective. There's not a single day that Paola and I don't call or text each other, sharing news and thoughts about what's happening in the country. This new podcast will be a way to make that ongoing intergenerational conversation public. Listen to The Moment with Jorge Ramos and Paola Ramos
Starting point is 00:20:28 as part of the MyCultura podcast network on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, and I'm the host of the on-purpose podcast. Today, I'm joined by Emma Watson. Emma Watson has apparently quit acting. Emma Watson has announced she's retiring from acting. Has anyone else noticed that we haven't seen Emma Watson in anything in several years? Emma Watson is opening up the truth behind her five-year break from acting. Watson said she wasn't very happy. Was acting always something you were going to do? I was using acting as a way of escaping to feel free. My parents
Starting point is 00:21:08 It wasn't just the divorce, it was just like the continuing situation of living between two different houses and two different lives and two different sets of values. The career and the life that looks like the dream. But are you really happy? Fame has given me this extraordinary power. It's also given me a lot of responsibility. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Brooke has never been more excited. to have any two listeners back than Kelly and Paul, but they're here to give us an update,
Starting point is 00:21:45 update. So welcome back to the show you two. And from your email, it sounds like you are still together, but you're working through some personal stuff, at least on Paul's side. It's going well. I've been trying to just focus more on the good and being less aggressive about it. Oh, okay. So you're referring to the negative bathroom reviews that tended to skew a little bit angry.
Starting point is 00:22:08 right? Yeah, are you still doing those? I'm still reviewing, trying not to be too harsh and let some more things slide. Okay, but it sounds like maybe that urge to one-star Yelp places is still lurking inside you. It still happens, especially around urinals. Okay. Oh, okay. Dude, I feel that. They don't make any sense to me. There's so much splatter. I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Okay. Well, you and Brooke can talk a little bit and get some of that anger out after this. Yeah, it's not about not having anger. about channeling it. Good. Okay. We'll channel it into after this, maybe into our podcast. But we're happy to hear Kelly,
Starting point is 00:22:44 Paul, that you're still together and reforming each other and doing well. Thank you, guys. Keep us updated on your bathroom escapades. No, no, no. Paul, definitely do not review us. Yeah, don't do that.
Starting point is 00:22:59 I have to check out your bathroom. I'm Jorge Ramos. And I'm Paola Ramos. Together we're launching The Moment, a new podcast, about what it means to live through a time as uncertain as this one.
