What's up? This is Be Real from Cypress Hill. Where are you from, Mesa? Don't you know I'm local? All right, you guys. You know one thing about L.A. is we love our police chases, our police pursuits. And the one that everyone was talking about yesterday was happening in downtown L.A. when someone robbed like a deep blue Rolls-Royce and was leading a police chase. But get this, you guys.

It seems like the driver actually got away. So it seems like at one point of the pursuit, he went into a parking structure. And when he went into a parking structure, he kind of disappeared. Check this out. He made another right turn on a street. Now he's under that walkway there. I think he went into a parking structure. Well, it's a parking structure or isn't that a street that comes out on the other side?

So there we are. He might be coming out here if he's going to be there. Or he could have gotten out and gotten into that area. And he got away. They didn't see him come out at all. Then you just see police, like, cars, like kind of, like, staking the place. And they have yet to find the actual suspect. Wow.

Crazy! Because we always see them get caught. I don't know how I ever see them get away. No, I've done that before. What? Seeing them get away? No, like, got away. From a police pursuit?

Yeah, and Grand Theftaro. Oh, shut up. Yeah. He did a classic move. What's the classic move? This is a gamer right here that we're dealing with, okay? So like he went inside the parking garage, then you wait, you lay low, okay? Or you either go on a spray and paint, which is you go inside a little thing.

That's in the game. I know, but look, he got away. Just like I always do it. Maximum was saying that he was waiting for the monster trucks to fly out of the garage, just like in fast-in-garious. That was another option. That's make-believe, you guys. I know this happened in L.A. vibes like Hollywood vibes. It sounds make-believe.

Right. Though Rolls-Roy's part of it is because it's like that, Rolls-Roy's incredibly expensive cars, but they're clunky, like they're big. Yes. I feel like they're slow too. They're not meant to be, they're not a Ferrari. They're luxury, but they're not, yes, they're meant to just like ride slow. Even making turns looks difficult. Yeah, looks like a boat.

Like whoever it was was riding a boat and he got away, which is crazy. That is wild. I'm not going to lie. That's legendary. I'm always, like, growing up, my street was always, there was always pursuits. Oh, that nice. Yeah, because it was off the 405. So I would always be on my roof overseeing.

And so I could come on the news and that way, like. You were one of those? Yes. And then the news talking about, yeah, and outside there are some bystanders that are taking the time to help the car. The same thing happened to me where I grew up in Lennox, they're, you know how they have like the helicopters? Yeah. Well, they can't go over Lennox because it's a flight path. So there's a lot of high speed pursuits that go on there.

Because they know, the drivers know that the helicopter can't chase them. They can't chase them. So now they're just dealing with cars. That's awesome. So I remember one time specifically we're watching on the news like I'm with my parents and they're like oh now they're making a right on prairie. Oh now they're coming around 11th Street and we're like oh that's all right. That's all right. And so we go outside to our like our porch and then just they go and we're like ah.

I don't know why we're so excited. I don't know why we just like cheering on crime. It's entertainment. If there's a crime to cheer on like that's the one that we definitely are like I think we feel the least guilty about cheering. And why are we always on the criminal side? I don't know. Yeah. I'm the getaway.

We hope he gets. We don't know what this dude just did. Yes. I never see it and then see like, oh, I hope they catch him. I hope the coppers get him. Yeah, I hope those nails work or I hope that pit maneuver works. Oh, it's like, ooh, is he going to get away. Does he have enough gas?

Even though the pit maneuver is very exciting. Yeah. You like to watch it all. And go, go, go, go. Car chase is crazy. Supposed he's an urban legend. I don't know if this is real or not. But the Bronco chase from OJ really, really,

was one of the main reasons we see so many police chases because they saw how many people were tapped in and watching. Granted, it's O.J., the Bronco chase, but then they're like, you know what? We should do this more. We should show these, like, police pursuits more. The whole time I thought it was Ron Burgundy. Because the rating.

Another movie. Has anybody ever called you? I mean, it maybe doesn't happen as much, but now it's like somebody will send you a link or something. But back in the day, it's like, yo, change it to Channel 9 right now. There's a police pursuit. They're in this place.

I've been taking care of a niece since she was 13 parents one's away and one is here but I've always been that constant stability with her so I mean obviously I feel like maybe boys are different than girls

but sometimes she goes with one parent and then she comes back and it's different and then I and it's different like it takes me about maybe a week or two to kind of get her back to what I've taught her and her moral. So I would tell him, even though I understand that we're not the parents.

I think that's where it's hard because we've been there, we've been taking care of them, or we've been their support system. But I would tell him not to give up, even though he's acting up. At the end, they end up seeing who's there and who wasn't. Right. And you know, like I'm sure even just you being there, it, I know you, and we all know, like, clearly, like you didn't give birth to her, right? But you love her so much that you're like, you know what, whatever's going on, I'm focused on you. Whatever your parents are going through, whatever they're doing, I'm focused on you.

And I'm sure, like, when you see kind of things kind of turn out a little bit differently with her, you give her that patience. I love you enough that I'm going to stick it through. I know the type of things you're dealing with. Did you feel like how she would act when she came back is more because of their influence or because she's reacting to how they are? I think it's both. I think it's a little bit of maybe resentment, a little bit of influence, you know, whatever she sees on the parent's fine. And then she has a lot of issues, you know, with her mother. So I've been picking her up every single time.

And I'm not going to lie, it's not easy. Yeah. I know it's really hard to even keep your patience because at the same time, you're a human, you have boundaries. You're not the one that's doing things or stepped out or things of that nature. Exactly. And it's hard because sometimes you feel like giving up. You're like, why am I sacrificing all of this? You know, but at the greater good.

I'm like, because I know she's a good kid, I know her potential, and I'm not going to let anything or anyone bring her down. And I don't care who it is. And I've told her multiple times, like, I will go to battle for you against anybody, I said. And then she understands that because then she'll open up to me. Then she'll be like, this happened. And then I'll have to like hug her because she goes into like baby mode. again because she feels like she needs love. And security.

So I've been that constant, yeah, and then I've been that constant pillar for her. And I tell her, you know, like, oh, you know, don't do this, you know, respect them. Just keep going. All I ask of you, because she lived with me as well. So I tell her, all I expect from you is, you know, good grades. You can always come to me and talk to me and I will try to give you the best advice that I can. I said, but at the end of the day, it's going to be you, and you'll see it. Little by little, she's seeing.

But it just breaks my heart because then I see how heartbroken she is. Yeah. You know, and then it's like, here we go again. I have to pick her up, put her heart back together until the next time. And it's hard because I feel like, because I've been taking care of her basically since she was born. But technically from 13 and not, and she's 16 now. At the day, I don't regret it because I know when she grows, up, she's going to know that I was always there for her unconditionally.

And I'm not going to lie, like, I feel like you give great hugs. Like the way they're like I hug her, I pick her. I'm like, I would like one of those hugs. I would like to sign up for the Put Your Heart Back Together hug. We'll talk about it. And then she had me rub her back like when she was a baby. Oh, thank you. His brother has been locked up. And since he's been locked up, Luis has taken on kind of a father figure role with his nephew. Now, dad is out, and the nephew seems to be acting a little up. And so he doesn't know if it's his place as the uncle to still continue to be present like that, or to let dad and mom handle it with his nephew, who he loves, right? He's really torn. What would you say? Well, I'm looking at it from a teacher's point of view.

I'm a teacher, and I used to actually teach K through 12. Now I teach adult education, but looking at it from a teacher's point of view and looking at the child, I would sit down with the brother. The two brothers need to sit down and talk and just let the brother know, I mean, if they have a good relationship, hey, man, I love you, okay? I love my nephew, too. and I'm here for both of you guys. He needs to let him know what the child did while he was incarcerated.

He needs to let him know he did a pretty, you know, the nephew was doing pretty good in school. And then they need to look at how is the nephew doing now? How can you make a difference in his life, you know, because he loves his dad, you know, and he loves his uncle. So if we can work as a team, try to see what we can do to make the nephew succeed in school. Yeah. Oh, wow. That's the way I want to handle it.

Yeah, I think that's a great piece of advice. Like, not even, because I feel like he might even feel alone in this because he doesn't want to seem like, hey, ever since you got out, he's been bad, you know? Yeah. But it is like, hey, I love this kid and I just don't want things to happen to him. And then there might be some sense of, like, what do you mean things to happen to him? Like, what do you mean? Like, kind of, he may think of it as insulting, right?

The big brother. But it's all about the kid and it's about like, look, bro, I love you and I know we both love your son. And to have it's important to show that, like, hey, we're on the same team. Yeah. It's not me versus you, you know, and competing. It's a team. It's a team. It's a team that has the best interest of the child.

They feel like their dad hasn't been there.

It's a big stretch of the Woodland Hills area. And usually on this street, people could park curbside. So they're parking like, I guess, car in front of another one. However, they're trying to have more parking space. So what they're ending of doing is allowing people to park in diagonally, but they have to back in only. These are back in only parking spaces. And people are upset.

Business owners feel like once a part of. person is driving up to them and they see the sign. They're like, oh my God, there's too much, there's a lot of traffic. I don't know that everybody else is going to let me back into this space. Do I even know how to back in? Thankfully, I have like a camera on my car. Yeah. But, and Andrew, you two and your Toyota Rafforn.

But if you don't know how to back in, it's going to be a lot for you. And you're going to get scared off by like the incoming traffic because they're not going to want to like stop for you to turn your car around and back into a parking space. Their diagonal spaces, think like in front of Target or in front of like a Walmart or something. But instead of being able to just go nos in with your car, you have to go back in. And you know no one's going to give you that type of space. Yeah, no, it's tricky. And then there's like no divider or island or anything, right?

It's just a stretch a road. Yeah, you just got to trust your fellow drivers to like, and also it's just like brings up more liability to me because it's like, okay, somebody's not paying attention. Oh, this is new. They don't see where that car come from. Boom. And this is one of the, I think, believe it's a council members plan to, like, reimagine Ventura Boulevard to, like, make it better. He just looked at me and walked in the store. Hey, love it, I love it. Hey, let me. I love it. Look at you. And he said, it's funny because everyone that was wearing a Lakers jersey, I would tell, hey, Kobe's in the store. Go in there. He won't say anything to you, but he's in there.

Well, me and my buddy worked a night shift there. So we're just getting in around 4 p.m. And the guy from HR comes to us and says, I got two tickets to the Lakers game if you guys want to go. We thought about it, but we passed on it because it meant we would have to come back from the game and still finish the full shift and it would just be late as hell. Plus, they're just playing the Raptors. It's going to be like a whatever game.

Oh, no. Yes. Yes. So he ends up asking one of the girls in the office. She says, yeah, because her boyfriend would love it. And fast forward to the game, we're checking the score. It ends up being the freaking game where he scores 81 points. Oh my gosh.

Eighty-one point game. Me and my words are just shaking our heads at each other all night just in disgust. I'm disgusted on myself because we missed it. The girl from the office comes in and was telling us how live it was there, people chanting all night. We straight up missed history. Eighty-one. Ouch. Big I like how you knew it as soon as I said.

The Raptors. Yes, the Raptors. He put 81 of them things on Jalen Rose. And you could have been there. Yes. For free. Oh, that's the worst feeling. Yes.

You messed out on free tickets. And you know what? They're probably like, stupid girl. I don't even get it. I know. There's some guy like that boyfriend like, dude, one time, you'll never believe it. The girl I got free tickets. What happened to you in that girl?

I don't know, but I was there for 81, God. I'm telling you, that I made my stomach here in disguise. Idiot. Okay, but we're talking about our Black Mamba on this Mamba Day, okay, celebrating our guy, Kobe Bryant, 824, August 24th vibes. All right. And we're Los Angeles. So we've seen them around town. So we've been getting these stories in. We did this yesterday. And people love this so much. We've got to do it again.

Talk to us. You have a Kobe Bryant moment? I do. I think I have a really cool one. So I used to work for an after school program for the LUSD district. And one day one of our supervisors came into our office and said, you know, we have an opportunity to take some students to the Momba Academy. And so this is, yeah, we. was really cool and it was for this program they were doing called Girls Play.

So we were able to take basketball players that were female athletes in middle school. So they told us we could take, I think it was about 30 girls. And they told us to select the school and all of that. And, you know, here I am in my cubicle with all my Kobe stuff around. And they said, you know, would you like to ride on the bus? And I was like, yes, I'm going to ride on the bus and go to the Mamba Academy. So we went, we showed up. and they said, you know, there's no confirmation that Kobe will be there.

You know, it's just a really cool experience. So we went. It was awesome to walk in there. There was a lot of female college athletes. It was really cool. And I'm just scouting around. I'm like, he has to be in this building. So I'm looking, I'm looking, and I spot him on the second floor looking down at all the students.

And when we showed up, there was over 100 girls from all over. So he's looking down at the students. And it was really, really cool. and I spot him and I'm like, he's going to come down. So I'm looking for stairways and elevators, and I'm like, I have to be there when he comes down here. Yeah, so he does come down, and he's obviously security guards and all that. And he comes and he has this big speech.

And all the parents, of course, all the parents, we're all like super starstruck. Right. We're video taking pictures. And then, you know, they start the program. And he's like, all right, well, the girls are going to play. So the girls start playing and he's coming around. And he's giving the girls' tips. been coaching them.

He goes to every single court. He's talking to all of our girls. I thought it was a really cool experience because there's some little girls out there who are like, you know what? I was coached by Kobe Bryant. And finally, when he was done and he walked around the corner,

I was like, this is my only opportunity to go and talk to him. So I went, and like a lot of co-workers are behind me because that was not afraid to go up to him. I just knew it was my only shot. And so I went over there and I was like, Hi, Kobe.

I just want to introduce myself. And I did. I shook my hand and I was like, I am so grateful to be here and I'm so happy that you got to do this for our girls. And I let him know where the girls were from and the opportunities that they don't get and how this was an awesome experience for them. It's just like, you know, it should have been the other way around. Right. But you're so appreciate it. He's like, no, no, no, thank you.

And he kept like holding onto his chest. Like, it was just a moment I will never forget. And we did get to take pictures of him. And me being the fan girl that I am, I had to step out of my professional. roll and I took off my shoes and I handed it to him and I said Kobe could you please find my Kobe and he did. Oh, that's so awesome. I love that.

I'm so jealous. Super jealous. Like I would pretend I was a middle school girl just to go to this trip because you're like, you had to gather 30 kids, right? I'd be like, hey, if they're 12, I'm 12. All right? We're going. We're going to just get coached by Kobe.

And I'm sure that whatever their future holds, like you said, they were coached by Kobe and might inspire them and motivate them. And I know that that might have been even what was the reason for this period, especially like whatever cities or schools they come from, that's going to be a motivating factor in their life. It was. It was beautiful. And I'm really glad that I got to share that.

And it actually happened like last and a year before, you know, he passed. So it was all, like, very recent. I felt like you had just met him. And there was so much emotions in that. And also, like, I felt like there would have been more opportunities for us to keep working with the Mamba Academy. He definitely had a decision for females in sports. And, you know, it's just such a great loss.

Wow. I'm going to stay your story, Jessica. I'm going to start telling you, like, from my phone with you. Oh, my gosh. I mean, yeah, one time I worked at, like, the county, and then it's just like L-U-S-D. Hey. That's how jealous I am on your story. Maximo wants to know where them Kobe's at, though.

So I actually saw him at South Post Plaza in Costa Mesa. And I was actually visiting somebody at the Disney store because I worked at the Disney store for a couple years. But I went to go visit a friend at the Fasas Plaza Disney store. And I saw Colby coming out with Gigi hand in hand. So she was about like six years old. I went up to Kobe and I told him, oh my goodness, like, I'm such a fan. Can I take a picture? And obviously it was respectfully, but he said, I'm sorry.

I'm with my daughter. Like, no pictures at this time. So I said, completely understandable. But I kneeled down. And I said hi to Gigi. And I told her, oh, my goodness, I can't believe I'm able to see a princess. I was literally admiring of her having her bag. It was a brave bag at the time because she just came out.

And he actually said, like, how are you so good with, like, little girls? And I said, well, I actually work for the Disney store. So he said, no way. So the little girl was like, wait, so do you know all the princesses? And I said that. And I do. And I was able to hug her. He actually said, thank you to me. And I was able to fist pump him.

And the little, well, Gigi waved by, super excited. skip during that whole interaction and I just stood there in complete shock and I was able to snap a picture of him walking away with Gigi so I have that memory yeah it's a little invasive but it was it was it was empty completely empty it was packed all the time it was empty it was I was walking by myself there was like one person that made me spotted him it was awesome always for him to go in the morning like on a random Tuesday so it was perfect for him to always go in and out so when I saw him he saw it as like a good opportunity because there was no one around us it was just basically just me him and Gigi you know what's super cool about that momacita

is that you I'm sure of course that's his his daughter time but you gave her that moment too you probably made her day you know like your work at Disney you know the princesses you know the princesses You called her a princess. I'm sure like that moment was really special to him too, especially because everybody's just flocking him because he's Kobe. You know, you took that time to show love and give her a moment too. I'm so happy I did do that because you're absolutely right.

That moment where I was literally just paying attention to her. I kneel down. You have to go into eye level, you know. They get into a zone where they're still kids. So he's tall. So he's looking at me from super high. I'm all the way up below to her level. And I just, he thinks me, he fist put me, he walked away, and did he even turn back, said bye,

skip all the way, all the, out the door. Like, it was that way. I'm so jealous. That's so awesome. And I like how she's still like, hold on, let me get the one walking away. Yeah, for real. At South Coast Plaza. I worked at South Coast and I never had a Kobe moment.
