Starting point is 00:00:00 This is Be Real from Cyprus Hill. Where are you from, that says? Don't you know I'm local? Yeah, I just got to shout out our L.A. teams over the weekend that won NFL football. Hold on. Shout to the Raiders. L.A. Team, honorary L.A. Team. Shats to the Rams, too. They won their game. Charters? No. No.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Bold down. Could it be that they used AI the wrong way? Apparently. Okay, so over the weekend at the Chargers game, there were robots, like actual robots in the stands as Charger fans. Were they hired to be fans? To Phillips. I do not know.
Starting point is 00:00:40 No, apparently they were promoting a new movie that's coming out. But they looked crazy realistic. I hated this. I hate it now. I hated it. Then when I saw it, it creeps me out. It gives me the hebi-jeebies. It looks crazy.
Starting point is 00:00:52 They were even having like Charger gear colors. Like they were jerseied out, but they were not real. I was trying to analyze if they were actors because their faces look so real. Yeah. And I'm like, oh, like it was fake but real.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Yeah. Like it's supposed to, you're supposed to get it's robots. Oh, that's what you meant. Oh, that's like, they're just creepy.
Starting point is 00:01:12 With the human face. Yeah. So how are we supposed to tell a difference? And texture and everything. Well, I mean, from their face expressions. Because if somebody wears a hoodie,
Starting point is 00:01:19 they're covering up that whole weird part of their neck. True. How are we supposed to know? But I believe like on the ear parts, like it looks like they have headphones on. Well, I'm saying if they wear a hoodie. Oh.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Yeah. You have to see these photos. Yeah, Yeah, you do. They're going to be up on Brown Bag Morning's 106. You have to check them out. Low-key, the girl, is kind of cute. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Don't lie. Yo, don't start this robot human interaction. Guys, guys, who are doing anything is that I hear. So I don't think that you will be against it. Oh, my God. If you guys can do anime, you can do a robot. Excuse me. Is there an off button?
Starting point is 00:01:51 If you guys can do blow up dolls, you can do this robot. Who's you guys? Oh, that's the girl. Okay, I saw it. I thought that was a guy. I thought it was two fools. Oh, she looks. more like a girl to me. Yeah, yeah, she does.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Yeah. Oh, then my best. She looks like she's mad at her men. Or she's mad at the game. Do they come in, let's do not? Yeah, so I guess that's the new thing, but apparently the movie that they are promoting is called The Creator.
Starting point is 00:02:16 So. That's creepy. Super creepy. Imagine going to the game and then you're sitting next to one of those. Oh, my God. Like, what do you do? Do you leave? Do you stay? Imagine you're at the club. You try to holl and it's an AI robot? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:02:30 He's like, I already have your number. But God was talking about it. And I'm just, I like that. I wonder if they hit up all the other teams. And then the charges are like, choose us, please, please, please. We got room. We got room.
Starting point is 00:02:43 We got room. We got room. We got room on the stadiums. Don't worry. Just kidding. I'm sorry. There's charging ports. All the one charger.
Starting point is 00:02:49 There's charging ports there. Are chargers that bad? No, but. Not that popular. Oh, gotcha. They were also in San Diego. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:57 We remember for that part. Oh, okay. They're like the Padre's cousins and I don't like that. Yeah. I'm like, I think they have... He said Primo de my Padre. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Hey, what are you doing? Oh, Sama. With Angie. Dude, Offsett's not the player he thought he was. He gave his homie like game and it backfired. Oh.
Starting point is 00:03:23 So, so offset, he was on live stream. He was actually a guest on Kaizenaut's Twitch, right? And Kaizanach, if you guys don't know, he's like really, yeah. Yeah. huge streamer. He's really popular, always going viral on Twitch, right? And so he
Starting point is 00:03:35 has them, he has Alfted as a guest and they're playing Call of Duty, they're viving, talking, clowning around, right? And so out of nowhere, like, Kaii brings it up and he's like, fool, do you know who I have a big crush on? And Altsin's like, who? He's like, Siza! Yeah. And so Alpset starts, like, hyping him up, he's like, shoot your shot, shoot your shot, like
Starting point is 00:03:55 DM, Sizzle, right? And Kai's like, oh, but what should I write? He's like, you got you got to do it right. And so, fool, this Kai Fu, he has no gain because Offsid had to stop him and, like, give him game. Listen. Say, hello, how you doing? That's just fat in that last music video. I'll eat that shit. Whenever. That ain't. Come on.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Come on. Bro, that ain't flea. That ain't peeve. You got an easy, man. I don't know. I got an idea. That's what you say. That's just to get the little bite.
Starting point is 00:04:24 I got an idea. It's simple. But then, see, when you do that. If you get the reply, you got to have an idea. That's what Offsad was telling him. This DM, Siza, I got an idea. And their logic is saying, I got an idea. No, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:37 I was confusing the way off that said it. But it's literally tell just DM Siza telling her, I got an idea. I got an idea. Well, this is all pretty funny because Kaysenat has kind of popularized the word Riz. And that's what that is, right? Yeah. He has not. Riz is like having it.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Yeah. It's like charisma, but it's like, you know, having game and all this stuff. So like, and also you're asking a married man. Right. Who's like probably been out the game for years. It should be a player. Well, work with you and Cardi. It's not going to work.
Starting point is 00:05:05 It's not going to work. Definitely didn't work. But their logic saying like, hey, just tell her like I got an idea. It's going to like plant that little seed and hopefully she's going to be like, what do you mean? What's the idea? What's the idea, you guys? I could see it working. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:05:16 I could see it getting a reply. But then it's on him after to figure out where to go. Yeah. Also, as soon probably saw this. Yes. Like, forget the DM. She probably saw the, all the street. He's super popular.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Yeah. Saw what Kai said. And Kai was being funny. He didn't, he's just, he heard of like, hey, he wouldn't DM her that. He wouldn't DM her that, but he was being funny and she's like, oh, you think you're funny, I'm blocking you. Yeah. Yeah. So over the weekend, he came back and he checked his DMs.
Starting point is 00:05:41 And, dude, that's when Siza, he noticed that Siza had blocked him. Yeah. And his reaction, dude, his reaction was like, he wasn't disbelieved, like, almost in burst of tears. You got to listen to him. I can't send any more messages, bro. This is when he found out. Oh, God, I can't send any more messages, bro. No!
Starting point is 00:05:59 Yes! He was almost... He's such a troll. Him playing Marvin's room is hilarious. In the background, almost in the burst of tears. I'm telling you guys. But that game, quote-unquote game that player advice that offset gave him, it backfired. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:20 It backfired on Kai. It didn't work. Kai backfired on Kai. Yeah. Yeah. Because I really do believe that what Offsett said could work. You think so. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:30 I think it definitely could work. I got an idea. Yeah. I don't know. Especially if he, like, let's say we didn't see this exchange. He's a streamer. She's an artist. I got an idea.
Starting point is 00:06:40 All right, what's like, that's going to get an exchange from you. But the fact that this was live streamed and posted and viral, so that. And that's how she's like to. Oh. Yeah. Because somebody. Why is so cringe.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Why do people like him? No, legit, please explain it to me. I mean, I just think that he is willing to, like, make fun of himself and put himself in all these situations. Like when Ice Spice had said, like, oh, I love a guy and I can. tech. He interviews her and he's like, what? He said, really? He runs in his closet. Walks out with the Nike tech.
Starting point is 00:07:10 He's like, what were you saying? And it's just like, dude, you look like an idiot, but also that's hilarious. You know what I'm saying? It's little situations like this. He's like a comedian as well then. Yeah. Not a traditional, but yeah. It's all silly, silly, that's things could be worse. He could be academic, so yeah. He's kind of harmless. I mean, he started right one time or
Starting point is 00:07:28 whatever, but he's nothing like he's inside Friday. In New York. But he invented Riz. Yeah, I didn't know that, actually. Yeah. Like he did that. Yeah. He forgot it at home, though.
Starting point is 00:07:39 But have you guys been in that situation where you gave your homie advice and then it backfired or vice versa? Vice versa for sure. So I remember in the pandemic there was like, you know, Orange County was only open. You remember? Oh, yeah. Newport, like especially South Orange County, right? Coord didn't care. So all the homies would rent Airbnbs out in like Newport Beach and it was like cool.
Starting point is 00:08:00 We would have parties and stuff. And I remember one night I was having a really bad. night. I was breaking over my girl. Yeah. And then the homies were like, get off the phone, bro. Like, I swear, man. Like, you're being like, upon, whatever. Yeah. And then I'm just like, all right, they're like, here, drink this. You're going to have a great time. They're telling you to drink. Yeah. They're just like, drink more, bro. Forget all that. So what ended up happening is I get into a worst fight. Like, now that I'm liquored up,
Starting point is 00:08:25 like, I get into a worst fight with the girl. Oh, my God, Victor. Man, like, I ended up having so much fun. Worst fight on phone, right? Yeah. Like, I'm, like, screaming. I'm just like, ah. You were screaming? Yes,
Starting point is 00:08:36 not like me. And then so after, like, the next morning, I'm like, did I have fun? I don't remember anything. And then I, like, see all my messages and I'm like, dude,
Starting point is 00:08:46 I ruined everything. Yeah, there's no chance. And then there's videos of me dancing with girls. I'm like, when did this happen? I don't remember having fun.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Like, I'll just take your word for it, I guess. All for listening to the home end. It made it much worse. It made the situation a thousand times worse. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:09:05 That was my story. That's my testimony. It's your own people. For real. Terrible advice. No, but it happened to me too. And it was during COVID as well. You know how like during COVID it was really popular or it was like the thing to be buying stock?
Starting point is 00:09:16 So I gave it. My friend. Yeah. Like you know. Yeah. Game stock. Yeah. Gaport.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Those are you going? All that stuff. Then we get started on Bitcoin. For real. And so I saw my friend like he kept making so much money and he convinced me. He sent me like the app where he. gets like uh yeah like coin base yeah like he'll get like some money out of it when i sign up so i did that dude i tell me why i put a rack down and i lost it like in with an hour thousand dollars
Starting point is 00:09:44 in hours all because he's like yeah yeah don't worry i got you i got you and fool no did not have me you're not is he like a rich homie like no but i just saw him going up and up he's the last thing we're going to take advice from the fool that works at walgreens i know and shot of walgreens he's at all of garden like Trust me, Angie. Trust me. But no, it did get me. Uber for fun, but
Starting point is 00:10:10 it's what I really do. I saw everyone getting in bridge and I'm part of it too and I'm like, okay, one K's going to make like a million or something. I love you. It backfired. I lost it all. You're not the only one.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Just another example of Angie she didn't have any other friends, but I don't think of it. That's a root of your problem. All right. That's it for Somasala. Brought to you by your local Southern California to go to the dealers. I'm Angie from
Starting point is 00:10:35 Brumbach Morning's on Power 106. But you guys, I do have to as and continue these, what advice has your homie giving you and backfired? Or vice versa. Were you that homie? Well, yes. Good morning. Angie was talking about it inside Sombra Sala, about how
Starting point is 00:10:51 offset gave his homie Kaysenat, the famous streamer. Advice on how to hit on Siza. He hits on Sizzes, Sizzle blocks him. Backfire. Homey advice that has backfired on you. What is it? Maximo, you have something. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:07 In high school, we heard there's a big kickback going on. And then my homie's like, let's go, let's go. And I was like, nah, nah. And he convinced me. I didn't know there was going to be like 400 kids from the same school. Like it was a huge kickback. It was crazy. That sounds cool, though.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Yeah, like four people. Yeah. So that's why I wasn't at high. But when I got there, like I legit walked in, there's people dancing. there's people cooking, like all type of things are happening. Oh, yeah. And man, I was like, this is the coolest thing ever.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Next to you know, you hear a helicopter. Shut, come around. I swear. This is the middle of the day. This is like 10 a.m. Does the helicopter sound like this? That was happening, for sure. The police backed on the door.
Starting point is 00:12:00 And next thing you know, it's a race. people are jumping over the fence That's crazy And then your heart went like Yes Exactly We all got taking butt back in school buses That's how big it was
Starting point is 00:12:14 Damn All our parents got called And the wheels on the bus went I'm sorry I'm sorry Just love that phone It was crazy though And I blame him for the ticket I got You got a ticket? You got a ticket?
Starting point is 00:12:28 How much Do you have to do like community service? service. Oh, that wasn't the only one. It was like 300 kids. Only like 75 got away. Only 75 got away
Starting point is 00:12:39 and you weren't part of them. That bus was kind of lit though, huh? It was crazy. It was like, everybody in there, yeah. It was crazy. But Team Dream is very bad to you. Yeah. Super bad.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Don't do that. Take our advice. Way the homies you just listen to. Okay. Yeah. Irene, who we got on the line? We have Joshua from Northridge on line one. Joshua.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Northridge. Joshua. Hi. Hello. Good morning. How's doing? Talk to us, Josh. What's that advice from your homie that backfired?
Starting point is 00:13:07 Well, I gave a homie advice because one time, like, multiple times he's got to use a pickup blames all the time, you know? And it's one of those annoying things that you do, like, it never works, you know? So it's all my, just, you know, we'll talk to them, say, hey, I what you mean, like, you know, whatever, you know? Are you trying to give them game to hit on girls? Yeah, you know, like, just like, you know, do something like, besides use pick a blanbs. I see this one's, uh, YouTube videos, like, to learn from pick a picture. go blinds.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Oh my gosh. It's that bad? Yeah, like, he doesn't have no game at all. So I try you, like, you say hi, you know, just saw him again. And they don't talk to you. That's it. That's it. That's it.
Starting point is 00:13:41 That's not so enough for you. So, like, one day we're at a party and I just like, try you once. Just try you once. Just try you once. And he got nervous. And you started using, like, you know, something about wings on the angels or something. Soaring angels and we? What?
Starting point is 00:13:58 Wow. You know, some good chicken wings, right? You could be my angel. Right. And it didn't work. Yeah, it didn't work. And I still sing about to the day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:10 And like, what are you doing? I'm like, you guys to hit a finger for a little while, but I'm not excited. Bro, his pickup lines are as bad as your phone service. Yeah. All right. All right. All right. Hey, this is Reese.
Starting point is 00:14:27 This is from East L.A. Reese from East L.A. Talk to me, Poppy. What's either backfired homie, like, homie advice you've gotten or given? So I had a homie that was like a coworker as well. And he needed advice because he never really had communications that much with girls. Mm-hmm. But he was like kind of like talking around Tinder and all this and committed to one girl.
Starting point is 00:14:53 And he knew how to go on with the judge and just to sell them to commit. Mm-hmm. And all these like different advices on how to go on dates and all that. Yeah. And the homie still kept Tinder and I was talking to all these girls. And when they had their own big there, his girlfriend saw the messages before they left. Oh.
Starting point is 00:15:13 So he still went on the trip for like three days with a couple, with a, I guess, another couple that they were going with. And it was probably like the Molesawker trip he ever had. He still continued and she caught him again. Dang. He didn't listen to your advice. So these are definitely homies that didn't listen to their homies advice. And also I wonder why.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Something else that we did yesterday is we went out as a crew to have lunch over at Tom's Burgers on Glen Oaks in Sun Valley. And it was really cool that you guys got to meet like a super like, I don't want to say lifelong, but like a friend of my dad. Yeah. Because my dad worked all up and down Glen Oaks, not like that. he was a locksmith and all of there's like junkyards there's locksmiths there's tire shops and all of that and then there's tom's burger and his name is not tom no it's not his name is sus my dad calls him seor burger he's really cool him and his daughter janet they were really nice and hospitable to us to the crew that came out and i like how he he describes me in spanish he says leti the girl that talks a lot and says good morning in spanish and i was like wow you know me the machita that's a much and he says
Starting point is 00:16:33 Buenos deyes in Spanish and I was like oh that's so cool like he listens on the radio because I'll say Buenos days
Starting point is 00:16:38 and he was just really smiley really good energy you guys need to see him while my dad they connect and then they have like a great
Starting point is 00:16:45 grand old time he's known me since I was a little like Chamaquita like probably five years old and he has a vintage poster he does it was cool
Starting point is 00:16:54 I had to mention it bro he knew he has a poster up there of when I was Ricky Martinez oh yeah when I was at
Starting point is 00:17:00 power first time around and it looks like it's just on the corner. I need to redo those photos and go give him like the first one. But like they're so proud and that's what makes me feel happy because like that area is where I grew up in and I was telling Irene my dad used to
Starting point is 00:17:14 take us after school and we had to go to work with him so we would stay in the car while he's making keys in this strip. If you've ever been down the strip Sunland Sun Valley it's just car stuff like it's industrial like kids location to be there but me and my sister were there in
Starting point is 00:17:30 the car like fighting for the shade in the car. Like okay or fighting for the radio but if it weren't for those days of being like after school I wouldn't be tuned into like Feli fell or like tune into power like that where I got to hear like Tito's top four at four or
Starting point is 00:17:46 listen to the roll call with Feli because we're literally stuck in the car and it encouraged the dream that I had to be on radio. So like I'm just so thankful for that part of my life and it looks rugged and weird but I just love it It made me who I am today.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Wow, that was like a full circle moment. Super full circle. It was just cool to like bring my friends. They're like, yeah, they're going to. Yeah, no, it was really cool. Because honestly, the first thing I saw when I was like going to order was that picture of letty. And you know what's crazy that it's like untouchable? Like it's just still in good shape.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Great condition. Yeah. That's like 10 plus years up there, you guys. Yeah, nothing. No, it's not faded. Yeah. And you know what's funny? They fell in love with Maximo all of a sudden.
Starting point is 00:18:25 Everyone falls in love with Maximum. Yeah. So Maximo's taking photos, right? And he has his film camera. and they invite him back in. I saw that. He comes out with a box, and they had cut him cucumber with sahim.
Starting point is 00:18:39 Wow. Just randomly, and he was so happy. Algo Mazzmi, Reyes? Yeah. That is crazy. Next time we go back, it's going to be a picture of Maximo. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Well, like, Maximo, when did you take these photos? For real. They just brought you back inside instead if you wanted to fruit. Yeah, that looks great. That's crazy. Love the hospitality. Yeah, that was really cool.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Seeing him tell the story of how like he knows your dad. Yeah. And, you know, the whole vibe. And it was just like so busy. It's like a very. Yeah. The workers for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:14 But there is people in and out the whole time. The whole time. Which is beautiful to see. Yeah, I love that. Shout out to them. That's awesome. And then you went to the Dodger game yesterday. I did go to the Dodge game.
Starting point is 00:19:24 We lost to the Padres. Wow. It's okay. They're out. I know. Like, who even is the Padres? Exactly. And honestly, it was a great.
Starting point is 00:19:30 great game. A lot of home runs. Like, I got to see Muky Betts, like, kill it. Also, Max Muncie hit a home run. It was dope. And then shout out to the family I ran into, but I had, like, one beer in one hand and nachos in the other. And so I couldn't really like, you did. You take a picture with the baddies, but you don't take a picture with the family? I did take a picture. I did with the kid. But I didn't get their names because I was just like, I was looking for them.
Starting point is 00:19:50 And you don't remember? Because you were drinking. It's okay. I just had, you know, a little. It happens. It happened. Yeah. So shout out to the unnamed family. They know who they are. Yeah. That's my favorite life. They know who they are.
Starting point is 00:20:03 I also want to shout out Emmy. It's her birthday today. Happy birthday, Emmy. I don't know if she's in a car yet. Oh, she's probably not. But we'll do it again. Happy birthday, Emmy. Felizupleos.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Adi! You're so beautiful and awesome and amazing. And I didn't get invited to your birthday party, but it's cool. You know what? Maybe another day. None of us said. My mom didn't. No, I understand why.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Yeah, yeah, yeah. My mom didn't get invited. Your mom? Well, it was, no, it wasn't like, a, a, official birthday party. It was two of the girls have birthdays in the same week from the soccer team.
Starting point is 00:20:37 So they did the big get your birthday. Cheers for the soccer. You know what crazy is that I feel as part as part of, like I feel more a part of your family than I should because I make you guys such a part of my family.
Starting point is 00:20:48 You do. Does that make sense? Yeah. Like I feel like I like I put you guys on pedestals but then you guys don't put me on one. Hey. Oh. I've never been invited to any of your part.
Starting point is 00:20:59 You've sent Duno. and I've never been at any year. Oh yeah, because he was around being horns. Yeah, and he called me. But yes, you will be invited to the next party. My home time, we love you. You have kids. You'll be the first invited.
Starting point is 00:21:09 You have a planet party. All right, good. See, look how I killed them. I want to shout out Juliana Dominguez from Mississippi because she caught a crazy stray. What? And I need to talk to you guys about it. So Bad Bunny was asked about his relationship with Kendall Jenner.
Starting point is 00:21:24 And his answer was, they, meaning his friends of family, are the only ones whom I have to clarify anything. As for Juliana Dominguez from Mississippi, I have nothing I need to clarify to her. Never about anything. What? Oh my God. He's meaning like to Joe Scho or whatever.
Starting point is 00:21:40 I bet you there's someone named Juliana Dominguez in Mississippi that's like, whoa. What did I do? What did I mean? I just wish you the best. That hurt me whenever this. We're all Julianna Dominguez because we're legit are like judging it. For all of y'all, Giuliana Dominguez is, I have nothing to say to you. I don't know you a thing.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I've got to explain none. Yeah, he's fed up of everyone asking him. Yeah. So it comes with it. Well, then answer. I know. That's exactly. Stop confusing us.
Starting point is 00:22:08 It's telling us like, oh, you guys don't know anything. We don't know my heart. We are besties. My favorite line he used, we are besties. We are besties. Mommy, be careful. They're most chitos. Word on Rosecrans.
Starting point is 00:22:21 Word on Rosecrans. What's the word? LeBron James was sitting at home watching the USA get torched at the Feebo World Cup and has had enough. All right. LeBron is reportedly committed to playing in the 2024 Paris Olympics for Team USA. Wow. Captain America is coming back, but he's not coming alone.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Oh. He's not coming alone. You hear that? Yeah. It's the sound of the Avengers because he's assembling the basketball Avengers. That's Kevin Duret, Steph Curry, Jason Tatum, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, they're all showing interest
Starting point is 00:23:04 in wanting to play for Team USA days here. And none of them played in fever? No, none of them. They sent their C team out there. Damn. What's been happening is that since Paul George got injured, I believe it was 20, 16-17-ish. In the Olympics?
Starting point is 00:23:21 He both his leg, like severely broke his leg. And these NBA players don't make money in the Olympics. It's all them doing it for their country. For pride, yeah. And after that happened, all the all-stars, they decided to not go. And the teams were encouraging them not to go because they didn't want to risk injuries. Right. So when we grew up, we obviously saw the greatest basketball players.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Yeah, Dream Team and the Red team. Then Kobe and LeBron. Yeah. So they're going to run it back one last time. They're going for the gold. We got to beat the Germans and the Canadians. Everybody, they whooped us. On the world stage.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Yes, they whipped us. What would the name? Because there's Dream Team. There's a Redeemed Team. That's a great Come on you guys It has to run with team I don't know
Starting point is 00:24:04 It's kind of dream teamish again No you can't dream again You cannot dream team The Bronx team You could only dream once Michael Jordan bro Yeah Yeah I guess
Starting point is 00:24:13 Okay I'm gonna come back to you on that That needs to be Supreme team Supreme team Ooh I like that one I don't know That would say that is more bigger than the dream team
Starting point is 00:24:22 And it's not Oh yeah Dream team Redeen team That's dream team That has a good ring to it Yeah, but shout out to LeBron. He's assembling everybody.
Starting point is 00:24:31 He's taking it on himself as a leader. He's like, you know what? If I'm committing, if I can play, y'all can play. I'm 45 years old. They're the wean team. Bunch of babies. Get over there. I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:24:42 I'm kidding. Shout out to Bron. All right, look, football season is back. And Beast mode, Marshawn Lynch is sharing some secrets from his playing days that can maybe help other players. Okay? So, Marshawn Lynch is a Raider, Seahawks legend. But you'll probably remember. remember him as the guy who created this meme.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Hey, I'm just here so I don't get fine. Oh my God, all this time, I thought he said so I don't get fired. No, fine. Yeah, because he was doing a press conference. Yeah, no, no, no, yeah, because they get fine if they don't show up. Yeah. I think everybody kind of morphed it into them. Who else is here?
Starting point is 00:25:19 So I don't get fired. I feel like everybody kind of morphed it into their own thing. I'm just here so I don't get fine. I'm just here so I don't get fired. You know why I'm here. so look so he was hanging out with Peyton Manning another NFL legend they were talking about superstitions if they had any before the game
Starting point is 00:25:36 or was like a part of a ritual so to make sure that they performed well right so Marchand shared his pregame ritual my superstition was that I needed to have maybe a shot a shot and a half before every game of Tennessee
Starting point is 00:25:54 what you mean of Gatorade Gatorade Tor-Doll. I don't know what I was thinking of. No. No. And there's a ball right there in the locker room in Seattle, Schneider and Pete Carroll. Got it. A run.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Oh, my gosh. I love how Peyton Manning was so innocent. He's like, a shot of Gatorade or cordadol. No. He was so offended. He's like, Tennessee. What are you talking about? Real stuff.
Starting point is 00:26:22 And I want to know what a shot and a half is. Yeah. True. This is what I'm going to say. Yeah. Anytime anybody I ask. me if I was drinking tonight? Maybe a shot, a shot in a half.
Starting point is 00:26:33 That's gonna be my new response. And you can't, can you ask for half a shot? Maybe, yeah. I don't think so. I feel like you could. You could? But they charge you the full shot? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:41 He means two shots. I doubt. Yeah. I doubt it was a shot and a half. That was probably very conservative. But I just thought that was hilarious. He's drinking Hennessy during the game. He's eating skittles.
Starting point is 00:26:53 And he's just going out there and dominating everybody. He's just here so he doesn't get fired. Fine, fine, fine, fine. Yeah, but I just had to share that because I thought it was hilarious. Shout out to Beast Mode. Don't try this at home. Other football players, I don't think it will work with you guys. Don't try it at work, in between breaks at work or nothing like that.
Starting point is 00:27:13 It's not going to work. Stop drinking. Maybe a shot in a half. All right, that was your word on Rosecrans brought to you by your local Southern California Toyota Dealers. I'm Rosecrans, Vic for Brown Bag Mornings on Par 106. And keep it here because we have your tickets. go to Halloween horror nights at Universal Studios after this. This is Be Real from Cypress Hill.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Where are you from, S?S. Don't you know I'm local? Okay. I've always wanted to be a part of the tournament of Rose's Parade. Anybody else? Anybody else look at the floats and is like, wow, that would be so cool. I used to love watching it. I used to love watching it. No? No, I'm hungover. It's Sneakers, right? Oh, yeah. No, I was like, wait, right now? Right now?
Starting point is 00:27:55 She's like, you know what I'm here. Shot in a half. That would be great. Oh, I get you. Yeah. I never do. Honestly, I never understood that. Well, this could be a way in for some lucky ladies to be a part of the Rose Bowl as the Rose Queen and Royal Court.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Because they are keeping up a tradition to have this like a part of it, right? And their selection process has started. They are looking for applicants. However, I don't think that, like, I think I've missed it by a couple years. You have to be at least 17 years old and no older than 21. Oh, babe. You got to be a senior in high school or enrolled as a full-time student in any accredited school or college in the Pasadena area. Yeah, I'm kind of, I'm Pasadena adjacent.
Starting point is 00:28:40 The seven members of the 2024 court will each receive a $7,500 educational scholarship. So it's something really cool to look forward to. And if you've always wanted to be a part of it or you've grown up and looked at it, that could be something to look into to be a part of a course. They're essentially the damas and the kinsingerer. That's what I was saying. You get the Rose Bowl, Kinse. That's cool. That's really cool.
Starting point is 00:29:03 And they get something out of it, like money for their power. Yeah. That's really cool. So you have to go through like the registration process and all of that. But it's happening now. So get to it. I was always thinking about like when the floats and everything can register. And it's probably all right now for this coming year, right?
Starting point is 00:29:18 To be in the 2024. Angie won't be there because she will be hung over. She already has her plans. Maybe a shot. A shot in a half. I'm not like a bottle of a buttered ass. With my family, you guys. Have you been a part of every quince that you've wanted to be a part of?
Starting point is 00:29:35 This reminds me of a quince. No, I've only been, my sister didn't have any damas. It was only my cousin. And it was her bar. Or her chambelan. No, my, my girl cousin, I was, like, on her by the surprise dance. But normally, like, nowadays, it's like they don't have damas. What?
Starting point is 00:29:53 Is it just the guys now? Yeah. Yeah. What? Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy. Only my two older sisters had damas and that was like in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:30:01 But now I haven't seen any Kinsanayas with Damas. It's always just dudes. Why? Because they take the shine away from the girls? They take the shine away. My Kinsueira, you swear I had girls. I was the only one. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:30:14 It was all dudes. All my cousins. You didn't have girls either? No. Dang. Just all eyes on you? Yeah. Even my Barles Surpresza, my surprise dance, no girls, just me.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Angie. That is wild. So it was you're trying to life? Yeah. It was all guys. That's crazy. Okay. Forget my topic.
Starting point is 00:30:34 My topic was your topic? No, just try to be or wanting to be in someone's kinsk, but now everyone wants to be in someone's kinsk. But you can't. I've never been in someone's kinsengen. No way. Yeah. Well, I can't have them in Kemp? Shut up.
Starting point is 00:30:48 Yeah, he knows. Well, people even are having kinsets that didn't have them at 15. They're having them. like at 30, like another fit, like a 30 year mark and stuff like that. I was thinking I was just being people's weddings, but people don't get married anymore. The Rose parade seems to be all we have at this point. But now I'm too old. I can't. Shout to all the little kinks and girls out there that just want to shine for themselves.
Starting point is 00:31:15 I would think maybe too, it might be too, it gets too expensive because you, each Dama has to pay for her dress or all of that. Just like the chamblana is too. It can get pretty expensive, you know? Well, there's that. Yeah. It's okay. All right, check this out, homie. You need a homie or need some help.
Starting point is 00:31:32 We need your help. We need a line. I mean, phone line. We've got you for. The homie help line. Martha needs some help. She thinks she's the cool mom, all right? But, uh, well, that's what she said.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Her words, her words, okay. So she said, she DMed us and said, hi, my name is Martha, and I'm currently going through something with my son, Benji. I'm a single mother and Benji is my one and only baby. Benji started high school this year and everything was going well until this week. They caught him ditching and called me and I'm noticing that he's hanging out with some older boys. I don't want to blame someone else's kid, but I know he's being influenced. I had him young and I feel like we relate on cooler terms. Maybe you guys or the Brown Bag family can help me with advice on how to not lose my son's trust,
Starting point is 00:32:20 but to also make sure he's on the right track. That's tricky. She's caught in like the classic, I'm the friend and not the parent. That's so classic. So the kid is like, okay, you can't parent me now. Yeah. Yeah, you're my homie. You're my homie.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Yeah. You're like, you did this or I don't know. Damn. And she loves him. My kids walk all over me too, so. Yesterday I was at the, at the university. those studios at the store, at the Mario World store. And they're getting stuff
Starting point is 00:32:54 and they're throwing it in the register. And so sometimes what I do is I just tell, I put on the register, but I tell the register person, not this one, not this one. So I was doing that but then I hear Luis, but mom, I want it. And I was like, all right, then put it. And then the register person just looks me and I'm like, yeah, they pretty much run my life.
Starting point is 00:33:12 And it's good for them, so they're like just scanning it. But I could tell he'd look like, you're not even going to put up a fight. You're not even going to say, no. Not one no. Like maybe next time You're not even going to give him That's too much And I was like, you know
Starting point is 00:33:24 I just go They cut me trying to do this It's my fault Martha I get you But I can't help you You're going to have to help her We're going to have to help Martha Her kid may be
Starting point is 00:33:37 Getting into a wrong Friendship group Probably or just on his own accord Starting to act up Now that he got into high school He's starting to ditch She wants to be the mom And be like, hey
Starting point is 00:33:49 this needs to stop but she also doesn't want to like not be the friend anymore. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She doesn't want to keep like that cool relationship where they probably go to the movies together, play music together, like do TikToks together, like have some cool like. Yeah. She doesn't want to make it formal.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Like where. Yeah. She doesn't want to lose out on what she has now but also doesn't want them to go down the right track, down the wrong path. Yeah. Right. It's a trying to find the way to bring authority and not be authoritative. So it's like a weird balance.
Starting point is 00:34:18 made up a word. No. It's a real word. What was it? A tortative. Tortative. Yeah. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:34:24 A tortettit. A to to to. A torta. All right. She doesn't want to be a torta. But they are delicious. Okay. So,
Starting point is 00:34:31 I'm making it to add you too much. I would like for you. And she just caught a strike for no money. Hey. He just hates me for no reason. Hey, you can't hate Bean on B, fool. Hey, can do that. Bean on Bien on B.
Starting point is 00:34:46 It's crazy. You guys are a fart. Together you're part. Listen. Listen. I want to know if there's a mom out there that got out of the friends with her kids. That was like, I know we're friends. Not like that.
Starting point is 00:34:57 I know we're friends, but I'm also your mom and you got to take me serious. Okay, we just got to figure that out for that girl and for your girl. And for my girl. Tomorrow 106, LA 7-11. Good morning. We have a special shout-out. Happy birthday, Emmy. Happy birthday, Emmy.
Starting point is 00:35:14 She just turned 11 years old. Wow. Are you happy, but your heart breaks at the same time? Yesterday, Danielo was making a real, and low-key, I wanted to tear up. Yeah, I saw the real. Oh, I need to see you. Shut up, dad. Shut up, mom.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Leave me alone. Seriously. That's how it is now. She's having a great, like, she's having a great summer. I've seen her being at soccer camp. Yeah. Have a good time. I love that.
Starting point is 00:35:41 She just stays in a fun, like, adventurous outlook on life. So shout out to you. I mean, we love you. Your parents didn't invite me to your birthday party, but I will still get you something. Now she's like, can we go to Sephora? Yeah. Wow. No.
Starting point is 00:35:56 The L.D. We'll take you to Sephora if you want to go, okay? Wow. True. Actually, I promised her mascara, so I do need to get her to that. You're right. Support trip. Safari.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Definitely, we get masks. Yeah. Alice Curler? Actually, I need one too. I need to look. Okay, we have a Sephora trip, Emmy. Get ready for your birthday. And if it's your birthday and you will, we get ready.
Starting point is 00:36:15 and you are at Sephora, you get a birthday give. You guys need to sign her up. Yeah. It's like a reward program on your birthday. You get like a little like a box of cool stuff. Wow. Make a piece. See, look at that.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Thank you. All right. You're awesome. This was trying to just have her in freaking dad hats and and chook her hats and big t-shirts. And Abby's over here saying you're like, no, dad. Take me to Sephora. Yeah. I want to wear makeup.
Starting point is 00:36:41 I'm wearing Dickie's pants, dad. He's like, no. No. Never. You're going to stay in the pro club. All right. We shout out to you. I mean, we love you.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Happy birthday. All right. Let's get into the homie help line. All right, check this on, homie. You need a homie or need some help. We need your help. We need a line. I mean, phone line.
Starting point is 00:37:01 We've got you for the homie help line. Martha needs help. She's the cool mom, but her son Benjie's hanging out with the older crowd, older boys and being influenced. And she wants to know what's going on. She wants to maintain her son's trust, but also wants to make sure that he's on the right track. Yes. She cares about him all that.
Starting point is 00:37:21 She had him young, and she has, like, that relationship where their homies low-key. Like, it's like, I'm your mom, but we're different. Like, it's being you against the world type lives. But it also feels like he's kind of starting to test the waters on what he can do, what he can't do. And she doesn't know how to handle it because she's been his homie this whole time. Yeah. You good? Oh, my job.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Is your mom your home, Angie? I'm choking on my head and saliva. No, we're liable. my mom all that time. Yeah. And I would How would your mom be with you? Would she be like,
Starting point is 00:37:51 Hey girl? What's that? What's a girl? Very strict. Like she always saw me like, I'm your mom, not your friend. She was always like that. So I would lie to her. But I would still lie to her.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Yeah, but I would tell her like, you don't, you don't trust me. Like, really? Like, I have good grades at school. I don't get in trouble. I just want to go out and have fun with my friends. Yeah. Things like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:12 No, for real. Irene, who do we have in the line? We have Frankie from. Chicago online for it. Come on Frankie. Frankie. Hi, guys. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:38:22 How are you? Good morning. Frankie. How's the weather in Chicago? We don't care. We're Los Angeles. You're so. I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I'm in L.A. too. So the weather's fine, but you guys ask, where are you from? So I'm like, I'm from there. I'm too much. No, we mean like where you are right now, dog. Maybe that's what we need to ask. Hey, what's your new at? Where are you at right now?
Starting point is 00:38:40 Six or five north. All right. All right. What's the traffic like? What's the traffic like? Yeah. It's bad. I'll tell you that. It's bad. But it is what it is. So I wanted to help out the home girl, and I wanted to give my two cents, and hopefully she gets her dollar back. Okay. A single parent, I have a nine-year-old, right? And there has to be a balance of friend and a father.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Yeah. I'm my son's friend when we're, you know, going out, hanging out. He needs someone to talk to. He's nine. He doesn't really advise just yet. But I know when something's trouble. him. I know what something's bothering him. Yeah, you can let him know, hey, what's wrong? You know, what's going on? You know, I'm here to talk. You know, if you want to talk, I'm here to listen, you know, whatever. But when he's not on the right track, like, for example, he's not doing his homework last night. He forgot. I'm like, hey, I got to be your father.
Starting point is 00:39:37 You know, in my mind, I'm like, I got to tell him, hey, you know, you have to do your homework. It's not much right now. You know, you got to be on it because I have to be his father during those times. Yeah. I didn't have my son young. I had him at 23 after I got out of the military. So I can relate to the home girl. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:54 But I'll say this, in my opinion, if she knows that she had her son at an early age, she has to think about what was she doing when she had her kid and how did she end up there? And if she does not want the same for her son, and she needs to go two times hard on him and everything, you know, to make sure that her son does better than her. I'm not one to judge or anything like that, but, you know, we have to be parents to these kids. Because at the end of the day, if something doesn't pan out in their life, we are the ones to blame. They are our responsibility.
Starting point is 00:40:30 We are here to protect them, to nourish them, to, you know, make sure that they're always, you know, in the right direction in life. Especially if we can look at ourselves and say, hey, I'm not that bad. I did good in my life. So you definitely want to have your son Do better than you You know and even if you did wrong or whatever You know but it's always about making sure they do better in life Facts
Starting point is 00:40:52 Absolutely And I don't want to stigmatize her being a young mom Because you don't know what that means Or that it was a bad thing She just had her baby young I don't want it to be like that equals negative Because people go through real life When that happens to them
Starting point is 00:41:04 And in no way she performs Yeah because even 23 is young for me Yeah that would be a young parent to me too So I just don't want as a teen mom myself I don't think you'd say I'm not successful so it's like I don't want to say that that is a bad thing it happens just like all the other things that happen to us in life all right well we want to help the home girl martha who's too much of homies with her kid yeah and wants to know how to figure that out like she just doesn't know how to get out of that homie relationship with her kid but now he's getting older he's getting into his like later teens i believe in ninth grade is like 14 15 and she's seeing him start to ditch start to do things that she wants to help him out with absolutely What would you say, Vic?
Starting point is 00:41:44 I think that she needs to bring the older boys around, hang out, get to know them. Like, get to a sense of the full picture. You know, have a barbecue. Be that, like, undercover cool mom, but, like, use it to your advantage to get information. What are they doing? What are they into? Okay, you're sounding like mean girls, but she's like, I'm not a regular mom. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:04 So you are ready to home. Get like the homie dirt. Covert operation, okay? She needs to know more, like, more info about these kids, like where they come from. like what are they doing all this stuff right and then have her kid around and she's gonna be
Starting point is 00:42:18 play the role keep being cool mom but then you could go off to the side like okay so you know tell me about yourself you know like to one of the kids start to get to know them
Starting point is 00:42:25 what are your parents like if you did with my son again I'll cut off of one of your fingers and sense to your mom exactly she brings out her son is a ringleader yeah
Starting point is 00:42:32 she's like damn she's gonna be in yeah yeah she thinks he's been being influenced get the full picture like start to understand these kids
Starting point is 00:42:40 and what they're doing if they're doing anything good bad. If they're like, you know, into ditching, all that stuff, it's like, okay, what are they like? All right. Look, if you have advice, if you have advice for this girl, Martha, we want to hear from you. All right, check this out, homie. You need a homie or need some help. We need your help. We need a line. I mean, phone line. We got you for the homie help line. What's up, Martita? Marta. She needs so much help.
Starting point is 00:43:09 It's a very important time. This is like a four. working the road. Yeah. I knew so many kids when I was in school, we're best friends in eighth grade. We get to ninth grade. They're on the football team. Everything's going good. Then somewhere along the line, they got lost.
Starting point is 00:43:25 Dang. They didn't make it to graduation. Like, you know, gangs, all that stuff. Like, that's super extreme, but it happened. Very extreme. It's the truth, though. Like, literally, I remember ninth grade. They stopped showing up.
Starting point is 00:43:35 I'm like, oh, like, they stopped showing up. Yeah. So she got a call that her kid was ditching. He's in ninth grade. And shout out to all the kids that have ditched and didn't end up being gang member killers. I know. Wow. I'm crazy.
Starting point is 00:43:48 I'm over here like us. Ditches today. He turns into the ditching bodies tomorrow. Don't mind me fear mongering. Yeah. Jesus. Maximal ditch. He's here.
Starting point is 00:43:58 I ditched. Oh yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. I did not ditch. I'm not ditch. I'm not ditch. All right.
Starting point is 00:44:05 But we got someone on the line that wants to help out, Martha. Who we got in line? Yeah, we have Nadine from Glendale online. three. Okay, Nadine, good morning. Nadine. Good morning. Nadine, and talk to us.
Starting point is 00:44:16 How would you help out Martha? If she came up to you and was like, Martha, I don't know what's going on. You know, me and my son, who was Benji? Benji. Me and Benji, we have a really cool relationship, but now that he's in high school, he's starting to ditch and I don't know how to tell him because I don't want to ruin our, like, our, like, mom, some bond, especially in this time. Not only is it a crazy time for kids and their transition in schools and stuff,
Starting point is 00:44:38 but their relationships with their parents change. It's kind of the inevitable that you're going to have a change in relationship. If you look back at any of it, it changed when we were teenagers and we were in high school. But talk to me, M-A-Masita. What would you let Martha know? Well, first of all, I was a young mother at 15. I became a mother. And so my son, they knew that there was consequences behind everything, everything that they did.
Starting point is 00:45:06 They hung around. They did hang around with older, with, with, older crowd. But truant officers, there's always being up chewing officers out there
Starting point is 00:45:15 find out maybe it's not his friends maybe he's hanging out with a girl. Just figure out what the causes. But yeah, what's the cause of the ditching?
Starting point is 00:45:27 You know, before we used to have home room and then, you know, we'll be able to ditch because the homeroom was your attendant. Yeah. They don't have that no more. Oh.
Starting point is 00:45:37 There's joint officers out there that drive around after three ditches. So just throw out a number at him. After three ditches, then chewing officers get involved and once he brings cops into the household or come knocking at my door, then there's
Starting point is 00:45:52 a bigger consequence. Because you know, that's what my mom did. She said there's consequences behind everything and I used it with my kids and it worked. Yeah. Show him the authorities. Show them. Shout to all the shun officers
Starting point is 00:46:06 out there. I didn't know there was a new division. Third time you were in jail. That's crazy. She's right. The home thing? Now they take role every class and it's like on a computer. That's important. You can't even.
Starting point is 00:46:15 Yeah. You can't even hide behind it. We had it easier than you. No. Give it here. This is Be Real from Cypress Hill. Where are you from, S?S. Don't you know I'm local?
Starting point is 00:46:28 All right. You know we're all about LA with it and we are here to talk to our community for one on one. And it's so awesome to bring in like we just, something about Otopad who is like our president of Marelo he loves bringing in my rivals we have councilwoman Monica Rodriguez in here with us no you're not my rival you just went to San Fernando High and I went to Somar High and just by nature of where we come from it's gotta be it's gotta be is it that deep but hey their alum turning to councilwoman they turned into Alex Padilla what do we do it's all good we're all
Starting point is 00:47:06 one one north east San Fernando Valley that part That part. So did you and Alex Padilla go to school at the same time, San Fernando High? Yes. So he and my husband were the same class year. And then I was, they were class in 90. I was class in 92. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:47:22 Were you part of the student body president, like the student body president? Stuff like that? So I was sophomore class president when Alex was student body president. And then two years later, I became student body president. Wow. I love that. That's where it starts. You guys, you know, in elementary school, I wanted to be a secretary, right?
Starting point is 00:47:38 or treasure or one of those, I didn't win. And then after that I was like, I hate the government. But it's important to start with school. I'm a nerd. I was president of my elementary school as well. Look at this. It starts young.
Starting point is 00:47:50 You know that young like this. And I think the way the schools are set up, they show you this leadership role, right? It can be something in your future too. How did you know that you wanted to be in these types of positions? I just wanted to do good. And when I, even going back to when I was in grammar school, I'm the eldest in a first generation family
Starting point is 00:48:10 and my dad just there were never any limits and so I just wanted to do good for my school and you know they as little girls they always say you know you're bossy it's not leadership me and thankfully had teachers very early that identified that it was leadership and they said that to me repeatedly so I always say I'm here because of people who saw more in me
Starting point is 00:48:32 than I saw in myself wow Monica what was it were you like the line leader or do like And were you first right there at the door? Did you volunteer for a homeowner? Like what was the little things that you knew, okay, I got other people saw in you? It was just, you know, I had friends that really respected and gravitated to me. And, you know, I was academically really always focused. And I was just always a little bit of a force.
Starting point is 00:48:55 So it was just. I love that because I do, I think that there are kids right now that have that in them too. And people, it might not, it might go unnoticed. But when you see these little signs, right? Right. When they're at home, seeing the Pledge of Legion. maybe they might be in government. Like maybe you might see the little signs
Starting point is 00:49:11 that there's something there that they can move on towards and become people like someone like you. Yeah. And we need to continue to encourage it. It's why I started the city's first youth development department and a youth council because I want to empower young people to have a space
Starting point is 00:49:27 to know that they can own it and that they shouldn't be fearful of pursuing it. Yeah. It all starts young and then we get into these roles of just being adults, right? And now decisions are on our hands, right? Absolutely. Unfortunately, within our community, I'm seeing that we don't go out and do things
Starting point is 00:49:43 less simple as vote and get our voices heard, and that's why you hear today to really encourage us to just get out there more, right? Absolutely. I mean, you know, let me tell you something. And when I was able to vote, you never forget your first time. I would.
Starting point is 00:49:59 San Fernando High, pictures. It was a pivotal election. It was the election of Bill Clinton and you know I was it was a really you know special moment when I got to vote and I think it's really important that so often our community doesn't exercise that ability and we have to show up consistently right one of the things that I'm seeing right now even as the third Latina in the history of the city to serve on the city council is that no thank you but listen our city has a
Starting point is 00:50:29 242 year history and I'm only the third yeah it says a lot should be more right and so I think It comes as a result of not consistently showing up, making sure that people who have our lived experiences are there in the spaces of power. And we have to show up consistently in order to vote in order for that to happen. You know what to you being a woman speak so highly to me because I know that Latinas, we set the tone. You know, I've heard and I've read that Latinas would be the ones that choose the next president. By the way in which we come out to vote, not just a Latino vote, but the women that are. leading the Latino vote. How do you see other women as far as like being that example in the
Starting point is 00:51:11 household to go out to the polls, to make their voice heard and to change things within their community? Well, you know, you have promotas. You have the women that are out there, right? Taking care of the family, taking care of the community. I can always count on women coming together to organize in neighborhoods when we're doing cleanups, when we're doing different activities. And so it's, you know, we're a force. And we just have to be unapologetic about exercising. that right, that access in that space and owning it. And not being shy, we have to own our power and we have to
Starting point is 00:51:42 show up and use it and exercise it. We can't be hiding in the wings. I love it. That's why we have to vote, to do you making sure to encourage you to use that right and use that, the power that we have as Latinos. We're a big community and we say yes or no, that will really mean yes or no
Starting point is 00:51:58 when it comes to the larger scale of Los Angeles. And guys, help. Yeah. Yeah, we're trying. We're trying. We're trying. We're trying. Also, I wanted to know what type of influence did your dad's career have on you, being that he served our country and our community. Well, my dad earned his citizenship in service through Vietnam. And so that's how he became a citizen of the United States. He subsequently became among the first Latinos after the adoption of the consent decree to join the ranks of the L.A. City Fire Department. And so he experienced, I remember he would come home and I would hear all the stories of how he spoke out and spoke. up against some of the conditions or the environments where they would say things to him like, oh, you speak Mexican or, you know, using derogatory language.
Starting point is 00:52:45 And so that was part of the seed early on when I found my voice because I felt comfortable speaking up against it, speaking out against it because my dad did it. And he had to do it. So I look at him amongst my earliest influences of unapologetic, you know, change makers. and he never put limits on me. He was the first feminist I knew. And I'm really grateful for having that experience of my family. That's so beautiful.
Starting point is 00:53:14 Like we're inside, where it's about to be Latino Hispanic Heritage Month, right, starting the 15th. And we have our independence days coming up for Latino America, for Mexico, El Grito. It's going to be such a beautiful moment to come out and celebrate our culture. And I think also to show each other, look how many there we are. And look how much we can do if we really put our minds to it. Absolutely. Well, the whole moment of El Grito was a moment when average people had a calling and they came together and they showed up and they secured their independence from Spain.
Starting point is 00:53:44 Right? That moment, that call by Miguel Hidalgo was that moment where all the community came together. And so this moment is another poignant moment for our community to come together in celebration and great pride and flex our strength. Yeah. And that's what this moment really calls for. and I hope it continues, not just in the celebration of El Grito, which is going to be amazing, by the way. I hope you guys all come. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:09 Because we've got bandamachos, we've got... Wow. Why didn't she say so? It's going to be... It's going to be... It's going to... You know, we have our civic ceremony.
Starting point is 00:54:22 We also have a lot of women, entrepreneurs, Latinas, the goddess Mercado, activation. It's going to be a really wonderful event for all ages because I want to make sure that we have an
Starting point is 00:54:33 environment where generationally this effort continues. Oh, yeah. And that we don't lose that tradition. And so that's why we are going to have something for the entire family to enjoy. And we want everyone to come out. You know, Suvoto, Suvo, Suvita is going to be a very important part of it because we want to make sure our community shows up and that they vote. And, you know, we're seen.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Yeah. Yeah. I love that you're the councilwoman in the same place that you grew up in. I think that's so important. But I'm also curious as to like, did you have to travel to? to gain different perspectives of like, you know what? Not every place is like the Valley. They do things differently here.
Starting point is 00:55:08 Tell me about some of your experiences and traveling that inspired you to bring some different ideas back to the Valley. Well, much of what I actually discovered about what I wanted to do in our own community was from lessons learned when I worked in other parts of our own city. And I saw how different the investments were. And so I wanted to be part of changing that. And I wanted to come back and fight for these resources. But every time I travel, I remember,
Starting point is 00:55:33 was in New York when I was on the Board of Public Works and I saw that they had free cell charging stations and I came back and I said why don't we have this and they just said well we just need the permission to do it and I said you got permission let's go make this happen and in three in like less than three months I partnered with Metro with our Board of Public Works and we actually created the first smart shelters at the bus shelters so people could just charge their cell phone so that I can make it easier. for granted that so many people get to charge their cell phones in their cars. You know, how kids, students that are, you know, waiting for the bus.
Starting point is 00:56:09 So I was doing things that were making a difference in very small ways in the grand scheme of things, but very meaningful ways to help encourage and make more convenient our public transportation. Yeah, that helps people's every single day lives. Like, it's like those little things. Right. I love that. And so I'm always looking at other cities and other experiences to figure out how we can really stay on the map for being
Starting point is 00:56:33 the greatest city in the world. And I think we have a global city that needs to be celebrated and we got a lot of work to do. Yeah, man. And make sure that you get your voice heard www. www.bottovida dot com for more information. For information on where the El Grito event
Starting point is 00:56:49 is going to be held, I can't wait to be out there. And I didn't know that El Grito was not the, ah, I didn't know. I thought it was the yell. It's not. Yeah, it's actually, isn't it like a call like him saying something? It's the cry for independence. Yes. Yes. But I thought it was the... Anyways, and I can't.
Starting point is 00:57:06 Give me tequila shots and I'll do the video. All right. Thank you so much for coming through, Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez. Since you are from the Valley, I have to ask you, favorite Richie Ballin song. Oh my gosh. Well, of course, La Bamba. There we go, baby. Get more info.
Starting point is 00:57:22 www. www.boswotovita.com. Thank you for the pride of San Fernando for coming through. Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez. Keep it here. It's Power 106. LA's number one for hip hop. Good morning. This is Be Real from Cypress Hill.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Where are you from, S.S.? Don't you know I'm local? All right. Famish beavers. Go. Angry beavers. Leave it to beaver. Leave it to beaver. My cousin.
Starting point is 00:57:50 Terry the platypus, that's kind of a beaver. That's not a beaver. That's a platypus. It's literally in the name. It's not a platypus. I don't know. Bucky. Oh, Bucky.
Starting point is 00:58:00 The Texas Beaver? I went to Texas so I know about him. The Oregon State beavers. All right. Clearly there's not that many beavers, right? No. But we are looking up California because apparently there has been some sort of a some sort of a happening going on with the beaver community.
Starting point is 00:58:18 They're just not growing and it seems very dismal. They're needed to build. Beavers. Damn. Damn. You can't get the mouth? This beaver trivia is horrible. But apparently wildlife authorities have seen, you know,
Starting point is 00:58:36 they pop up different cameras and different campsites, and they saw what seems to be a baby beaver. And it's looking up for the beaver community, you guys. This is a real story, and this is a real thing. The North American beaver, the community of beavers is going up. So it's like a simba of beavers? Yes, there's a symbol of beavers. They've been looking.
Starting point is 00:58:55 And apparently the cameras don't really get baby beavers. on, but they got one and now things are looking at. They should call it Justin. Wait. Why Justin Beaver? Right now there is like, like Smokey the Bear is like you guys please tap into Waletti's saying because this is really big and it's really good for our wildlife that there's more beavers on the way and here we are saying oh Justin Beaver.
Starting point is 00:59:19 Yeah. Yeah. Shout to the Beaver's out there. I saw that story and I was like, wow, that's so cool. You never think you take animals for granted like beavers, right? No, yeah. they're definitely cool they're a marvel to look at i've always wanted to like see i'm not talking about her beaver oh oh well also that's also marvel um no but just like you see like the way they're
Starting point is 00:59:40 animated makes them look so cool and friendly like big tea they're always chomping on wood and all this stuff but like i've never really seen one in action yeah me neither and so i go semiti there's like this part where it's mirror lake and they have dams but i i would wait there for hours hoping that i would see a beaver so i can see it you know top of the thing like no because it taps the with its tail to like compact
Starting point is 01:00:02 like in the but Angie but Angie wouldn't be able to tell a difference between that and a platypus apparently so yeah she's like the tail
Starting point is 01:00:11 is right there with you like we were famous with Mickey Mouse I don't know it's power 106 LA's number one for you talking good morning I had to
Starting point is 01:00:21 I had to bring this up so I used to have this segment that I did with my friend Greg you know the Padre fan yeah how's he's doing by the way I don't know, really sad because the podraiser out.
Starting point is 01:00:30 They beat us. Yeah. They beat the Dodgers yesterday, but they're out. They're not even going to have any sort of way into the postseason, right? They're only playing the next few games because they're contractually obligated. Oh, that was so upsetting. Like, what's the point? Just to be the Dodgers.
Starting point is 01:00:48 They don't want to get fined. Yeah, just to be the Dodgers. Hey, I'm just here so I don't get fine. Okay, but check this out. We used to have a segment called Scrolling with the Homeman. he's like scrolling with the homies. It's a clueless reference. Yeah, I get it.
Starting point is 01:01:03 I get it. I get it. They do not understand. But that's where he would go and he'd be like on TikTok like, hey, this is a viral video. This is what I saw. So this is essentially what Maximo did the other day. He said, hey, let the ice saw this viral video. He went scrolling. And what you see?
Starting point is 01:01:17 And what did you see? I've seen the video about this lady and she's with her husband. Apparently she caught him cheating. And red-handed. This is what she told him. For me, great, because I love you. I never wanted to not be with you. I never wanted to be without you.
Starting point is 01:01:37 I want to do life with you. But in the process of all this is happening, you are a liar. You got you a bitch, and I had to hear from this, which our relationship was about. No, we're not fucking no more. I want to see other people. You act like you're the only in this relationship that other people want to be.
Starting point is 01:01:53 No, we, we, no. Let's be real. So what we're going to do is, we're going to stay together. We're going to have a beautiful life together for the rest of our lives. We're going to continue getting money together. We're going to continue raising this little girl together. We're going to have a fabulous home. We're going to love and take care of each other.
Starting point is 01:02:08 But I'm going to fuck other people. Jesus Christ. And we will never ever talk about it. Don't bring me no babies. Don't bring me no diseases. She just laid it out. I love the part where she's just reading him. Like, look, I've been with you. We have this child. You're a liar, though. You cheated.
Starting point is 01:02:28 had to hear about you cheating on me. I had to hear what the girl had to say. So we're going to stay together. We're going to cheat, cheat, cheat. And we're going to cheat. Let's cheat cheat, cheat is what she said. She didn't don't exist no more. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:41 You could tell he was hurt too because he was like, whoa. What? Jesus Christ. This is super, wow. This is like when you think you get what you wanted, but it's not the way you wanted. Because it's turning to an open relationship. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:55 Yeah. And it almost felt forced. Like, he didn't have a choice. It wasn't his idea. If you want me back, then I get to be everybody's girl. Oh, no. We're going to stay together. That part scared me.
Starting point is 01:03:05 What do you mean? There's no exit? There's no exit. We're going to stay together and now I can cheat, which is crazy to me because I just thought she was taking him back. And I'm like, oh, that might not work out for you. Just taking it back to cheer. You're going to make it work out for you. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:22 I love how she was like, she was describing something beautiful but very aggressively. And we're going to have a beautiful life together. We're going to make tons of money and you're going to like it. She sounds like a coach. She does. But what this is showing me, ladies, I'm not saying do this when your man cheats or guys do this when your girl cheats, but
Starting point is 01:03:39 this would make me not want to cheat anymore. Yeah. If I was dude, I'd be like, okay, I don't want to cheat. I didn't mean it like that. So if the rules were, if you cheat, that means it's a free-for-all. All day, every day. We're open 24-7. We're 7-11 up in here.
Starting point is 01:03:57 then that would make me not want to cheat right girl don't give it away that's wild is that pimper sim oh man she's pimped
Starting point is 01:04:12 she's pimped for sure she flipped the whole script she gets to do what she wants to have all her bills paid gets to have her house but is he because he cheated he got his girl back
Starting point is 01:04:23 somewhat like you didn't lose your girl no no She didn't even give them the opportunity. To leave or stay. She said, you're staying. She went behind. You didn't hear it, but she locked the door.
Starting point is 01:04:37 You're stuck. Dang. All right, that's a crazy condition to keep you. I can't do it. You don't have a choice, Maximal. You heard the tone and her voice. She's serious. You'll be miserable for the rest of your life now.
Starting point is 01:04:51 You're going to see your girl cheat every day. Yeah, like you're at home. You don't have nobody, but she's in the room. You know what this does bring up a little thing though too Because often you get cheated on and you're the victim But that also gives you power, right? Because if you're going to take someone back Now you can add different things, right?
Starting point is 01:05:09 Like, what do you mean? Jorge Cheats, now you're paying the full rant, bro. Yeah. I'll pick you back, but you're paying, stop making you pay half. Yeah. All right, it gives you a little bit. We get two in our victim, we get two cry babies. Oh my God, you cheated.
Starting point is 01:05:23 Oh my God, I don't know what you do. It's like, hey, you have passed. power now. Leverage. You get to bring it. Negotiated leverage. Yes. This is a negotiation.
Starting point is 01:05:31 She's starting in the army. Dang. Okay. I'm just saying maybe girls and guys need to use that little, that little position of power a little bit more. Yeah. Because, yes, you got you to run. It's so sad.
Starting point is 01:05:40 Yeah. But look, hey, now's your chance. If you want to stay in this, this is a contract. It's a lucky, like, looky of an accident happens. And you're like, yeah, it sucks. You're like, if you call sweet James, it's a kid's a student. You get to get some money for that accident. It's that.
Starting point is 01:05:56 It's using that. your favor. All right. You've been cheated on before. I'm telling you right now, they've cheated on. No, they're cheating right.
Starting point is 01:06:04 I'm getting it. He was like, damn. I told God I needed a sign. This is your side. They are cheating. Right now. Let me check their location.
Starting point is 01:06:12 If you take them back, what conditions have you put on your relationship or could you have put on your relationship? Like, would you if someone cheated on you, how would you be like, all right, I'm going to take you back,
Starting point is 01:06:21 but boom. Only if. But this. Yeah. But now we all open. We all open, wide in these trees. We want to know.
Starting point is 01:06:27 818. 52059. 818. 52059. What conditions have you put on someone after they cheated? Or would you if your man or your girl cheated? Okay. Power 106.
Starting point is 01:06:38 L.A.'s number one. Good morning. Good morning. Okay. My homie over here in Maximil. He was scrolling with the homie. He went on a TikTok and he saw that this woman had caught her man cheating. Then had a family meeting.
Starting point is 01:06:51 It was a lot of people in their living room. I didn't know that. Yes. That's embarrassing. Caught her man cheating. And she said, you know what? I caught you, you're a dirty liar, you're this and that, but I'm going to stay with you. I'm going to stay with you on this condition.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Aggressive. That now we both cheating. Now we can both do whoever, however, whenever, all the things, as long as we don't bring it home because we have a child. Yes. And we're going to live happily ever after. And we're going to make tons of money. It's crazy. But it had me thinking of that little moment when you get cheated on.
Starting point is 01:07:21 I know you're a victim. I know it's out. You're heartbroken. What is life, right? But you have power now. What do you call it? leverage leverage you have leverage now now you can take them back on whatever conditions that you want okay well look i even had a little intro look scrolling with the homies that's sierra that's sierra
Starting point is 01:07:38 oh really yeah yeah what just have sierra yeah my goodie sierra we're bringing it back we're bringing it back i like that sorry gregg you can fight maximal for it okay okay but his ass dead we're thinking about how that moment can transpire and what can happen. Irene, we have callers on the line. We have Jasmine from L.A. on line three. Jasmine. Jasmine.
Starting point is 01:08:06 Hi, good morning, you guys. How are you doing today? I'm okay. I'm on my way to work right now. We need you better than okay. What's bothering you? You tell me. I'll fight them.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Okay. Girl, I'll give you my address. I'll go right now. Jasmine, I'll go right now. I need you to have a great morning. All right. And I'll make my address, girl. All right.
Starting point is 01:08:26 even better. Oh, baby girl. I know. All right, we're going to talk outside of the line off air, but talk to me about this situation, this girl. Okay. Go ahead. So, actually on the night of July 4th, I went into where I had a miscarriage that night.
Starting point is 01:08:46 I was four months pregnant. Two days later, that happened on Wednesday, two days later on Friday, he has the audacity to hit up another girl. Oh my God, Jasmine. I always go through his phone because I have a bubble bomb in. So, you know, I get his under a chance, whatever. So for him to do this two days after I lost his child, like that, it completely broke me in the moment.
Starting point is 01:09:16 But it gave me this anger and just, like you said, leverage. Yes. In a way. Because now you had like your little. I told him like, you did this? You know, I did hit up the girl. They didn't do anything. They haven't met up in anything like that.
Starting point is 01:09:34 It was just flirting. Okay. Yeah, I was just kind of flirting messaging for the moment, you know, obviously. But I did tell him, you know what, if you're going to be doing this, I'm going to get to do what I want to do too. Oh. You know? So he started crying like, no. He started crying.
Starting point is 01:09:59 No, what the heck? You want to do what you want to do? Let me do what I got to do too. Come on. It doesn't matter when you do it, but it's going to matter when I do it. What's the problem when I? Wow. He said it.
Starting point is 01:10:09 Whatever, I told him, honestly, deep down, I have a really good heart. I don't have. You're not going to do it. I don't have a heart to do it. Yeah, you're not going to do that. No, I know, hold on. And I haven't done it. But I did made a promise to him into myself.
Starting point is 01:10:22 I'm like, you know what, if I find some, crap out again I am gonna do it and you know what I'm gonna have messages I'm gonna show you the messages I'm gonna have pictures you're gonna see it all
Starting point is 01:10:32 I won't even keep in a secret it's gonna be all in your face look this video we did babe and say hey that's worse I see all up in your face like it was all up in my face I get it
Starting point is 01:10:43 go ahead take your power back take your power back Thank you.
