It's Power 106.
Brownback mornings.
Good morning to you.
Good morning.
We open with sad news for Dodger fans everywhere, for Angelinos everywhere, and for those of us in the Latino
community, especially the Mexican American community and Mexican community, that no love
and have admired the great that is Fernando Valenzuela.
Former Dodgers pitcher that passed away at the age of 63.
yesterday.
It was tough for me in the house because my dad had already fell asleep.
My dad sleeps really early.
And my dad is the one I've talked to you guys about how this guy would listen to the Dodgers
on radio in Mexico, right?
And my dad's 73 and I remember I had to tell him the news and I'm like, I don't want him
to wake up and then see it.
And I woke him up and I told him and you just see him like, oh.
Like the heartbreak in his face.
Yeah.
And for a couple weeks already, a few, close to a month, if not more than that, Fernando
was removed, or he left his duties as a sports broadcaster for the Lally Dodgers due to
medical issues and we knew that he was in the hospital.
Yeah.
Yeah, we heard things that was like, oh, it's not looking too great at the moment, you know what
I'm saying?
And when I heard that, I was like, oh, no.
Yeah.
And previous to that, photos of Fernando's, have him looking a little bit more thin.
And to me, I have Thios that look like that because they have diabetes.
So I don't know his specific medical conditions.
Yeah.
But to see him like, okay, he's going through it right now.
Yeah.
But that decline is definitely heartfelt in all of us, 63 years old.
And what he did for the Los Angeles Dodgers, you know, I was reading an LA Times article.
And it was so perfectly put that Fernando Valenzuela put the Los Angeles in Dodgers.
Yeah.
Previously, Brooklyn Dodgers came over here as a franchise and what they did with the displacement of people at Chavez Ravine, right, for a long time.
Mexicans, Latinos were not going to that stadium.
It took away our homes.
Fernando Mania came.
Oh, yeah.
And it took, it changed the way that people show up to Dodger games.
It's us when we walk in there.
You know what I'm saying?
It's Los Angeles when we walk in there.
Yeah.
Something I was thinking yesterday, Latia, I'm glad you brought up Fernando Mania because I was like, oh, Fernando Mania.
I remember hearing about it.
Like from my grandpa and like my mom and like, you know, anybody that lived in the 80s in L.A.
That was just like, dude, it took over the city.
Every time Fernando was pitching, it was a party.
You know, it was every five days that they were at home.
It was like, wow, okay, all the Mexicans are going to show up that day.
You know what I'm saying?
And then it was like, after that, it was like, oh, I like this team.
Maybe I'll come when he's not pitching.
You know, and it started to like slowly happen like that.
But when I started to think about Fernando Mania in particular, it's still going on to this day.
Today, like, we are living in Fernando mania till this day.
People still have his jersey.
Because of the impact that he had on the culture, on Los Angeles, on the Dodgers.
And baseball in general.
Baseball in general.
We're still living and it never ended.
And number 34 is Fernando Valenzuela's jersey number.
And you will see it all over the stadium.
Oh, yeah.
Just like you see how like the Shoaheotani jersey right now, that's the hot jersey right now.
But you'll see Fernandez.
Fernandos Valenzuela's jersey all over.
And it's as if, like, his spirit has never left the stadium, you know?
And it's very telling that we're right in front of the World Series.
Yep.
You know, the last time that the Dodgers played the Yankees, I believe he was the MVP or?
He was a big part of it, right?
Yeah, so that was the year that, it was his rookie year, 1981.
He won the Cy Young and the rookie of the year and took them to win the World Series.
Wow.
It was a dream.
Versus the Yankees.
This is the Yankees who in the 70s when they didn't have Fernando,
they lost two twice in the 70s.
That is.
So it was like once they had Fernando, he helped them get like over the hump to win the championship.
You talk about impactful moments and important moments.
Like when it comes to the Dodgers franchise, Fernando's part of it.
You know so much so that he became part of the like the working family of Dodgers Stadium.
Yeah.
So yeah, he played for them for 11 years like pitched and I think 91 he left and started playing for other teams.
And then in 2003 he came back and became the color commentator to the right of Jaime Harin, who was calling his games previously.
So like such a full circle moment who was doing the Spanish broadcast and who people are, you know, love.
And my heart goes out to him today.
You know what I'm saying?
Because he still has to do a broadcast on Friday without Fernando to his side.
Oh, my gosh.
That's going to be hard.
Yeah.
We're talking about his walk-up song.
And I love that a producer knew it.
Like, did you go to a game?
How did you know?
Like, you're lucky for you.
Like, I was not able to go to Fernando Valenzuela game, but did you go?
No, actually, my grandpa.
So my grandpa used to love watching the Dodgers.
And that's how I became a doctor friend.
Yeah.
And those are my memories, you know, of my grandpa talking about the games and him being so excited.
Yeah.
And that's how I became a doctor friend.
Wow.
Wow.
I need you to stick around because we are going to celebrate Fernando Valenzuela.
The way that we do, we're going to put our arms around each other.
We're going to have a Serenata come in here that's coming up at 7.30 a.m.
We're going to be talking to him and from you throughout the show.
So if you'd like to share a Fernando Valenzuela memory, you know, we did this with Kobe.
Like, you brought up a great idea with Kobe.
If you ever saw him in traffic, if you saw him out there in these streets, because he's still an Angelino.
Yeah, you know.
And we kind of showed him what L.A. was because he came from Mexico.
You know, I know.
I had seen one of the 3430s on the.
Fernando and it said that he didn't know what a burrito was that that was a that was a us thing that's an
American thing.
What?
Yeah.
Like to big up everything.
Yeah.
That he's like, what kind of taco is that?
Like, I want the big taco.
And it's just funny that like the way he assimilated to Los Angeles.
Because even though he's from Mexico, he wasn't from a big city.
Right.
He was from a rural town of like less than a thousand right in Sonora.
So it was like he came here and it's just like we have a bunch of stuff that they didn't
have.
Yeah.
So we'll take your calls to if you want to share anything about Fernando Valenzuela.
La Tere is his day, and we're his station.
That's right.
And because Ramona, I was like, can you do the walk-up song?
I was like, sure.
He played Abba to walk up to?
That's crazy.
Yeah.
Okay, can you play it, bro?
I'll play it.
I got you right here.
Oh my gosh, that's so beautiful.
That's so beautiful.
Shout out Abba, by the way.
My mom's super happy in her suit.
Yeah.
Anytime have a place.
A mom smiles understee.
Oh, for sure.
Yeah, that's some bangers.
Okay.
So, yes.
all morning long we got you with it and we're just here with it you know it's crazy we're
the younger gen yeah yeah yeah yeah the younger the people in this uh but but you're gonna learn
some things today about fernando valenzuela and what he means to to mexicans and what he means to
l.a and that's what i'm excited for yeah yeah i'm gonna learn that exactly i didn't i didn't
well you you taught me something today too would you teach me about fernando that actually he
played for the podres for two seasons i'm gonna say that yeah you know just got to
out there.
Yeah, he wants to put it in there.
I would rather him do that than hate.
He just wanted a shorter ride home, Greg.
That was all.
From San Diego, Mexico.
You're so stupid, dog.
All right, keep it here.
It's Power 106.
LA's number one for hip-hop,
and I want you to check this out.
Everyone in the sports world is talking about this kid.
And Los Angeles has gone crazy.
Power 106 remembers El Nino,
Fernando Valenzuela.
Not only one of the greatest Dodgers of all time.
1981 will be the year of Fernando Valenzuela.
Fernando Valenzuela has pitched a no-hitter at 1017 in the evening of June the 29th, 1990.
If you have a sombrero, throw it to the star.
But a hero for the Mexican-American community.
A lot of folks have come in just to see the Mexican phenom Fernand,
Valenzuela. He has good personality.
I think that Fernando Valenzuela is the best.
He's the greatest, and I think everybody here has Fernando fever.
It was a misdemeanor if you were caught on the streets of Los Angeles,
if you were Mexican and there was a game going on.
I mean, you literally had to be there.
Fernando Mania will live on forever.
Because he brought that Mexican pride, and we needed that.
Power 106 remembers number 34.
Fernando Valenzuela.
Thanks to my family.
Thanks, the tires, and all the fans.
El Toro.
My d'O.
Fernando Valenzuela forever.
He's the one that put us in the map back in the early 80s.
En Viva Valenzuela.
Now, now, let's win it all for Fernando.
Thank you very much.
Thanks.
Greg.
We got shout-outs.
Yes.
Eddie wants to shout out his son, Troy, the Hooper.
Troy made the F-I-B-A-Juner Olympics.
Okay.
What's up, Troy?
in basketball and he's going to play for Team Mexico.
Oh, wow.
My boy, Troy.
By the way, did you see Brani and LeBron?
Yes.
History.
Incredible.
I saw they popped up.
I saw Bronny play in the second quarter.
And then they took him out really quick.
And I was like, why don't they put him back in?
And then what he's like, he's still a rookie let they don't want to, it's across him the game.
Yeah, exactly.
That was the thing.
Luckily, they won the game so it didn't make it like a negative impact on it at all.
Because if they had lost, they would blame.
Oh, why don't you put so and so.
out there would be so many memes.
He did come out and when he came up,
LeBron does like a dunk
and then there's another play.
Like literally he was in there for seconds.
I'm like, this one was not even in there.
Really?
At least what I was like.
Oh, that's just Hollywood being Hollywood.
But then they had LeBron like
toss it to him or like and but he didn't make it.
But Jorge was saying if he would have made that
it would have been an iconic thing.
Oh yeah.
I saw that video.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So they just gave him his moment and then they're like,
okay, go sit down for it.
Pretty much.
Yeah.
They wanted to get it out the way.
Got it.
So people won't be thinking about it.
Oh, when's Bronte even playing?
When is this going to happen?
Put that in the second quarter.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
It was cool because they checked in together.
Yeah.
So it's like, imagine like clocking into work at the same time as your dad.
Yeah.
That's my real life.
My mom and dad and my brother worked together.
Yeah.
It's cool.
It's the same thing.
Just like your family.
Yeah.
You could tell he was a little nervous.
Yeah.
And even just LeBron talking to him on the sidelines, I'm like, I love to see that.
He's like, look, this focus.
Like, like, but.
also be fluid.
Yeah.
Like, I'm like,
what is that?
My favorite thing was the post,
the post game conference on the sideline.
And they asked Brawny,
LeBrona question.
And then they asked Brani question,
and they had the same exact voice.
That's hilarious.
But all of that,
to say Troy,
shout out you.
Yeah,
shout out Troy.
Shout out.
Yeah,
for me dad.
Gina wants a special shout out to her now fiancee,
Alex.
They got engaged two weeks ago.
And they're super super,
super super excited for this journey she says to her husband thank you for choosing me you are literally
the best thing that's happened to me let's go smart man you see what happens when you put a ring on
him in look how nice the ladies are to you yeah they should be nice before but anyway she said
and tell letty if she's down to marry us we would love it everyone's expected to the wedding what
except great so i take the shout out back oh wow probably the temptation it is
one in the room.
Oh, yeah.
But I'm not the merrier.
I would be down to marry somebody.
That'd be cool.
I would just have to steal
Maximo's marriage license.
And I'm the one playing Aventura
in the way in the phone.
Don't marry her, marry me.
Stop.
They don't even like you.
Wait.
Wait.
They'll marry him.
Did you hear him?
Yeah.
He said don't marry her and marry me.
Yeah.
Is it that she's making me?
He's sitting at Maximo C.
He's not in today.
And yesterday,
and he had a little moment
where he wanted to.
Oh, I have it.
I have it.
Hold, would we like to do?
I'm never sitting in that seat.
All right.
Usually I have my little dream effect.
Hold on.
I'm going to look right.
I just got to make it hit right.
I would hit yesterday.
Right.
I'm switching seats now.
I don't want to sit in here.
Yeah.
I'm moving over.
I'm back going back to my seat.
Let's go back in time.
Back in yesterday.
Just so you know, context, we interviewed Acon.
Yeah.
And it's going to air tomorrow.
Yeah.
We had a pushback.
Yeah.
Because I have to edit it heavily because the way that Acon got in, he's like, man,
and his lion.
Yeah.
It turned all the guys up.
So they've been listening to Aitcon all day.
They've been seeing it.
They've been telling their girls, how do they feel about another wife in the mix?
Oh, my God.
And then so I was like, dude, you guys are like two on Acon.
But just check this out.
This happened yesterday.
Fight for my right to love, yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
Nobody want to see us together.
but it don't matter, no,
because I got you.
Makes me feel like a king of the jungle.
Oh, God.
It's National Nut Day.
Get off A-cons.
No, what that means is we got to spread them out.
Who?
The National Day, bro.
Blow!
Blow!
Blow!
Blow!
I don't get that help.
So, Maximo was very embarrassed to show up to work today.
Yeah.
Plow!
Blow!
Personality.
Maybe he's
spreading them out.
Yeah.
If you ever see
Maxim, we just go
blah!
Blow!
You got to spread him out.
Blow!
Throw us at him.
Well, yeah,
shout-outs.
Yes, and then
birthday shout-outs.
Janine from Lahabra
wants to give her husband
a birthday shootout.
Okay.
Yeah, happy birthday to Freddie.
Happy birthday,
this one's for you.
Blah!
Blout!
Blout!
Wow!
Those are our shout-outs.
Yes, those are shouts.
I would like to shout out the family,
and we're going to get more into this coming to Brett 730,
including a Serenanta for our guy, Fernando Valenzuela.
So if you're listening,
and you want that moment to be in your car
and to just feel the loss that we had
when we learned the news last night
that Fernando Valenzuela,
legendary Dodgers pitcher,
passed away at the age of 63.
I had a chance to meet his daughter,
Maria.
I actually went to a game with her and my friend Deirdre.
And Rio is so sweet, kindness of her father.
And it was just really cool.
And I was just like, oh, my God, I'm with the lavanzuela.
Like, it's super cool.
But in these moments, I'm like, wow, it must be very hard to see it all over.
And having been in the hospital for these past few weeks that Ferrando's been in the
hospital, it's a challenging time for anyone.
I know that we've gone through it in our own families.
So dealing with grief in itself, my love to you, to deal with it on a public level must be that much more, you know.
So my love to Maria and the family.
And coming up at 730, like I said, we're going to have our own little commemoration for our lost Fernando Valenzuela.
Yeah, that's right.
All right.
Let's get into Word on Rosecrans.
What's the word?
Word on Rosecrans.
Rosecrans.
Word on Rosecrans.
What's the word?
The word is, Corrido Drake is here.
fully embrace the Mexican lifestyle.
Corrilla.
I was not here when y'all played the new song.
Yeah.
Y'all gas drake's so crazy.
I did not.
Okay.
I said the song was decent.
It was my sister.
I said the song was decent and I don't think he made it any better.
But I like that he shined the light on Chino Pacas.
Yeah.
There's some OVO stuff going on with Chino Pacas and JOPP for sure, right?
Yeah.
But you over there.
Oh, yeah.
I'm loving all of it.
I'm loving all of it.
You don't even speak Spanish.
And I'm still bumping straight.
No matter what I'm bumping it.
You know what trip me out about the song is that his verse, like his pronunciation,
everything gets better in the second verse and as opposed to the first verse.
So I don't know why he just didn't like do the first verse over.
Yeah.
If this was one of those, I'm just going to go in and give it one take.
I'm like, no, like if you're going to jump into this, get it right.
Get it please, bro.
Because when you did the Aventuras, no, no, no, the Bad Bunny song, you hit that.
But even.
The Romeo Santos one too.
Yeah.
Even with those, they're more of a singy.
Exactly.
And he brought that to the Corido.
And it didn't.
And it didn't because even though JOP and Chino can be melodic, it's kind of, it's different.
It's different.
It hits a little harder.
So you got to come with that.
Exactly.
So, I don't know.
I just wish I was here to say all that.
But they're both great songs.
No, they're not.
What do you mean both?
Well, the one about Drake and the one that did.
The one about Drake is actually really good.
By the way, we're going to have Chinopacas come through soon.
We're probably going to lie and say we love the song, but
I'm not going to, I'm telling the truth the whole time.
I'm telling the truth.
I just, without Drake, I like,
there's a part in the song, the Chino Paca song,
the Nuo and JOP, see, but we're going to need to listen to it
if you haven't already.
But there's a beat switch.
You want me to play it?
At the end of it?
Yeah.
There's a beat switch, and that sounds good.
That's where Drake sounds the best.
That's where Drake sounds the most Travis Scott.
Yeah.
What is he saying?
What is he saying?
I told you guys.
Greg likes it because he also says,
can you give me Torres?
Torres Las Casas?
Is that?
I order that on my tacos.
I think he's trying to say,
he has an art of Todas with a deed.
Toto.
Tolas Las Casas.
He says toras.
What's Tora's?
I don't know.
It's right.
Making a new language.
That's what he's doing.
Breaking barriers.
Okay.
I like,
I like that he did the,
The act and then the song was, the song about him was really nice.
Exactly, yeah.
But he went full on.
You play the second verse, by the way.
Oh, you want me to play the third one?
No, but you play the second one?
Yes, I did, yeah.
Because I'm like, this one's a little bit better.
It's better than the first.
See, I told you.
How is that better?
I honestly hear it.
There's three verses.
The third part.
You guys want to hear the third part is actually much better because they broke down the beat
and everything.
They turned into Drake, yeah.
They should have just been this.
Yeah.
I just put darlas.
Drake, yep.
Yep.
Sounds like me at the talent show.
No.
The whole time I thought I'm like, I get the beat switch, all that stuff.
But it's like I cannot understand.
You just take them off the song.
Yeah.
Like I don't know what words he's saying.
I know he's speaking Spanish.
Yeah.
But it sounds like when you don't know a language, you're just hearing it.
Yeah.
And we know the language.
I'm like, how you made me forget Spanish?
What are you doing?
Do I not know Spanish?
Exactly.
I just feel like he did too much on the song.
He should have just sprinkled himself in at the language.
the very end.
You know what I'm saying?
Kendrick would never.
Kendrick would say all his curse words like he didn't call it green.
I told you to do that thing and you still haven't.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So with this, with him being in that mode, right?
He went full on.
He went to Instagram and posted a video of him very dressed, very vaquero, very paisan.
You know what I'm saying?
Like he was raised in Halisco.
For sure.
And he captioned it.
Corrido Drake is a vibe.
And then he posted this.
What,
How?
I'm sorry
to the
and honor to
I'm a
honor to
the album
of my
brother of my
brother
think it's
that it's
good
to put me
the adwendo
for one
and the
lot of hearts
is true
I think that
we'd have some
some of beers
we'd
some
we'd
a little
with a steak
and
we'd
we're
we're
sounds like
that loudspeaker
if you're ever
in a Pueblo
when I went to
Enohato
they had like
a guy in a car and he's just doing announcements
he sounds like that guy.
Oh, passing by.
Yeah, but it's AI Drake.
Yeah, this is not actual Drake.
No, it's not him.
It's not him at all.
How did it?
Does he make even AI Drake sound pocho?
Coming from a poachia myself, those words,
Lanzamiento never heard it.
Chino vacas?
She know vacas with the Bias?
That's crazy.
The chrome-hearted botas?
Yeah.
He's like, make sure you put it in.
Yeah, yeah.
Don't translate it.
Don't translate it.
Yeah, it was crazy.
Everybody was tripping out at this.
and just that he's embracing it.
Yeah.
I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if he has another birthday party that's themed after like
Columbus.
Remember he did that a couple years ago?
Yeah.
His birthday is what tomorrow, I think?
Oh, yeah.
October's very own.
Yeah, so I wouldn't be surprised if he has another of that style type of birthday party.
Yeah, his birthday tomorrow.
Yeah.
October 24th.
You're not doing the mix.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
I would do all Drake Spanish mix.
Shout out Drake.
Shout out El Drake.
I do like the fact that some people don't even know what a corido is.
That part.
You know what I'm saying?
He's definitely putting people on.
I feel seen because of the three.
He is one of the biggest music stars, period, not just hip-hop in the world.
And the fact that he's leaning so heavily into this, I can appreciate.
I don't know if I want to hear more music from him.
No.
I like him being there.
He fits the vibe, like all of that.
And again, even if we were to, won't even that the beats switch Drake.
No.
Maybe if he did English.
Like, I don't mind even an English.
hook with Chino and Spanish.
That's what I was thinking.
That would have probably sound a lot better
because him speaking Spanish and that,
no he was going back and forth,
English and Spanish or the first part of the song?
I don't know what language he was speaking in the first part.
It was this one.
This one.
He was going back and forth.
What is that word?
What are you saying?
Shut up
He did not call Patron
Patron.
No, he did not.
Play it again. Patron is...
Oh, instead of Patron
he said patron.
Instead of Patron.
Like boss.
Oh, gosh.
Oh, my God.
Can you play that again?
You're like, everything's fine to me.
Everything sounds like.
Yeah, everything's nice to me.
Yeah.
I don't know, brother.
We need to look up the letter.
The lyrics.
That's good.
I like it.
The back and forth is good.
You know what?
I can't.
I can't.
When I talked to Canelo, I couldn't say five words, okay?
I get it.
I get it.
Who got pataron?
Yeah.
I don't know.
Let's take some patron shot, Doc.
Maybe Pataron means something.
Maybe it's a, I've never heard that way.
An exclusive.
Maybe it's a very respected family in Halisco.
Maybe.
I don't want to say anything wrong.
Yeah, exactly.
So that was your word on Rosecrans.
Brought to you by a local Southern California, Toyota dealers.
I'm Rose Crimes, Victor Brownback Mornings.
I'm Power One else.
We were hit with the news yesterday that the legendary Fernando Valenzuela passed away.
And he was 63 years old.
And, you know, being kids in this, being L.A. in this, we know the Dodgers.
And I want you to know whether you know it or not, we love the Dodgers because of what Fernando
Valenzuela did in Los Angeles for the L.A. Dodgers.
I would say he is the most impactful Los Angeles Dodger that we have had in Dodgers franchise history.
He's the guy that made sure the Mexican community was seen.
He was found in a Pueblo in Mexico.
He was brought to Los Angeles and what he did for the Dodgers,
going to the World Series with them, Vic, like you mentioned earlier in the show.
Started his career with nine shutout victories.
Dang.
which just caused madness, hysterias.
Like, is this the greatest picture of all time?
You know what I'm saying?
And he happens to be Mexican.
And I was actually listening to Hugo Sanchez, you know, who's also a great professional
athlete of Mexican descent.
And he was talking about how him, Fernando, and Julio Cesar Chavez were like the big three.
Wow.
At that time?
What a moment.
Of, you know, of Mexican athletes.
And, you know, now he was just, you know, super saddened and, you know, by loss of his
friend and just being like, wow, like three titans, one of us is now gone.
And I'm sure that makes him reflect on like his own mortality and stuff like that.
And to just think that like we have those, that level of greatness, you know, at a time where, you know,
Fernando was like one of the best pitchers in baseball.
Then we had Julio Cesar Chavez is one of the best boxers.
You know what I'm saying?
Then Hugo Sanchez as well, it's like this is just like, you know, history that still has
carried on and our parents.
Yeah.
And, you know, everybody ahead of us has always loved.
then like looked up to, you know, to have role models in your community super important.
And, you know, they were definitely one of them.
And Fernando was, you know, right at the top.
You know, we're coming up on his birthday.
Actually, game six of the World Series, if it gets there, will be on Fernando Valenzuela's birthday.
Wow.
Which is amazing, right?
They were already setting up a mural.
And this is a guy that we gave flowers to while he was here.
Yeah.
But there was an artist in Bois Heights.
I think it's never.
Yeah, never.
He was doing a mural for Fernando.
And he's like, this is that he posted yesterday.
this is the first time someone passes away while I'm making a mural of them like in the same time.
I think he was doing it for the like the winning team of the 1981 World Series.
Oh my gosh.
But he started with Fernando Valenzuela, just happened to start with him.
So, you know, obviously he's drawing it, drawing the mural and then he gets the news and it's like, whoa.
I'm sure he even felt weird about the whole thing.
And when it comes to Fernando, the connection that he gives us, you know, sometimes even
within our community, it's so beautiful that I see that generation on generation on generation
are connected through different things. One of them is music. One of him is baseball in my
household at least. That's something my abuelito, my dad, me could talk about and they tell me
stories. I may not have been there to see El Toro, but they tell me about him. And, you know,
his unorthodox way of pitching. Like he would look, no, he would close his eyes or look up
at the sky. Which is crazy because it's just like you're talking to God almost before he pitched.
His whole wind-up was just iconic.
Like the whole throwing up of the hands,
look it up in the sky.
I was like, wow, that's a really iconic throw.
Yeah.
Nobody could duplicate.
And then also just shows, like, obviously, like,
we're very, like, faithful you people.
And it's like, he literally looked up to the heavens before he would throw.
That's in every time.
You know what I'm saying?
And it's still to be, I guess, said what the cause and what was really going on.
We know he had medical issues and he had removed himself from his duties.
being the daughter announcer.
Color commentator.
And so we know that that stuff was going on.
So I love to the family.
And we were talking about where the name El Toro comes from.
And Ramona, like, you're going to learn a lot of stuff today, which is cool.
And we're living together and we're viping together.
And, you know, it almost, it reminds me, like, I've had family and friends that have passed away.
And when everybody comes together doing the Rosario and talking about them, good memories, all of that.
If you feel inclined to do so, please feel.
free to call us up and talk to us 8185 to a 105.9.
But we're like, I wonder why they called him El Toro.
And I was like, well, his pitching style, no, not.
And then Ramona's like, no, it's because he was like, he was bulky.
Like he had broad shoulders.
And that makes so much sense.
Like a Toro, you know, like for at least an athlete or a baseball athlete, his
stature wasn't something that was.
Yeah, that's something that made him stand out a lot.
And a lot of people talked about that's like they couldn't see him.
And he looked like one of our thios.
Yeah.
But he was dominated, right?
And so he wasn't the typical built athlete.
They even talked about like, this isn't your typical blonde hair, blue-eyed athlete.
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
That America was accustomed to seeing.
It's like, no, this is a Mexican through and through.
He is unapodgetically him.
He has his hair cut.
He has, like, just who he is.
And he didn't change it.
You know, he always remained himself.
Yeah.
Okay.
And so in remembrance of our guy and legendary, former Dodgers pitcher,
but always Dodgers great.
Fernando Valenzuela.
We're going to do what we do as Latinos, man.
We're going to bring a mariachi in here.
You know what's crazy?
Los Girolo, let's give thanks to you,
Mariachi Juvenil.
Wow, that name is hard.
Because at noche I was thinking,
I'm like, oh, what should we do tomorrow?
It's going to be so sad.
And then I'm like, no, we got to do a mariachi.
We got to make this a moment for LA.
We got to come together.
And much thanks for the, or the last, or the text.
because you guys were up late
that we locked this in
and they were able to come in
they're in all Dodger Blue

oh my gosh
Fernando Valenzuela
passed away at 63
legendary Dodger
I don't I can't even go into
a sorry bro sook cities up next
I was supposed to do that
We can't do that
We do that
We do have somebody on the line
We have Gustavo Arayano from the L.A. Times
Who took part in a documentary
About Fernando Valenzuela
We have him on line 11
We're going to talk to him right now
Muchasios again. Muchas
again, Mariachi, Juvenile Nochislan
And they're going to regisar like
About 20 minutes
To say we can cry some more
Can bring out the shots?
Okay.
So, much gracias.
Yes, to the shots.
Oh, my gosh.
You're not only thinking of, like, at least me, I'm thinking of the legacy of L.A.
I'm a fan because of what Fernando Valenzuela did with the L.A. Dodgers.
We all have been affected, you know.
My uncle is literally named Fernando Franco because of Fernando Valenzuela.
My grandpa, Jesus being such a big fan of him.
And my uncle being born in the midst.
to Fernando mania he's like that's his name Fernando yeah he's gonna be a baseball player and this is
like oh my gosh planned out his whole life for him and you know just when you look at Fernando and
throughout the years and even when he played it's like that's my guy right there you know
like that's one of us look he sometimes when they bring like the representation it looks like a
noveliero or something like oh how he was no william levy yeah but he did something so
great and and I see my love and how much I'm rooting for the Dodgers and how
how much I'm excited for the World Series.
And it's like that, that was put in the hearts of me because I got it from my father.
And my father got it from listening to Fernando, you know what I said?
Yeah.
And, and, oh my God.
But yes, you're right.
Bro, we're going to go to your homie.
Yeah.
Which one of them was that singer?
Which, which one sang?
The one right now?
That one, I was like, as soon as I heard.
No, no, but as soon as I heard him, I'm like, tears.
Yeah.
I thought I could put it together.
I kept it together from More Terno because I'm like, okay, I've been through this a lot.
I'm going to get to put a song.
Once that song hit, he sang it very sentimental.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my heart.
Okay.
We're going to jump him after for you guys.
If you made you cry, we'll find him.
Same, twin.
Yes, we have Gustavo Arreano on the line.
Gustavo.
What's up, Gustavo?
I just want to say right now, this is totally unfair to follow a mariachi like that.
I'm crying.
I know.
It was so beautiful.
And just let me ask you, the next two songs,
Despedida with Mariachi and Cruze Madera.
That's, good, because I was like,
what do I ask him for now?
I don't know what to do.
You wrote those down Ramona?
Yeah.
Okay, perfect.
Thank you for having me on.
It's such an honor to talk about Fernando
and everything that he meant.
All of us,
you just about everything that,
how much he met,
a my Tios,
a misprimos,
to us,
to our communities,
Latina,
a Dodgers,
just everything.
What a legacy.
And we knew this day was coming
because we were seeing him.
He was skinny.
people were asking me like hey what's wrong with fernando and honestly you know out of privacy for his
family for him and his family no poulogne but i knew like the moment it came out people were going
to be crying and here yeah we're here and we're here what's beautiful and and vick was telling me
because there's so many there's so many documentaries and like pieces on fernando but it's
beautiful to see someone as as inspired by him like you and someone from again our community that
made a documentary on him.
Can you talk to us about that?
Yeah, so we did the documentary a couple of years ago in 2021 on the 40th anniversary of
Fernando Mania.
And so we just wanted to do something that would say the entire story, not just El Biana
de Solnora, not just he was an amazing pitcher, not just that one year, but everything that
he made.
I mean, it's an amazing documentary.
You had Danny Trejo, you had former Mayor Antonio Villarigosa, you had the late supervisor,
Lori Molina, baseball players, Jaime Harin, and I had the honor.
of narrating it in English and we also did a version in Spanish.
And you could find out online at the Hally Times website.
Yeah, and I wanted to know what's something that you learned throughout that documentary
that totally, I guess, floored you, surprised you or just something that you like carry,
you know, to this day.
Even though I knew this, just the love that people had for Fernando back then.
And I just wrote a column this morning because I, you know, I've always found like everyone
saying, oh, Fernando should be in the Hall of Fame.
And I was always against it just because I'm like, look, you had one and make
season and yeah he meant a lot but it's supposed to be for the best players of all
time but what amazing about that was your article today
you go to L.A.com it's right there but now I do think he's in the Hall of Fame and
what convinced me is just because I finally got it what people love about
Fernando what really made him special this as well as my takeaway from documentary
the magic even if you were not born when Fernando mania happened even if you were not
born after you know in his playing days you see that photo of him looking up to the sky you see those
youtube clips baseball has this capacity like every couple of like every generation there's that one player
that you see them and your life changes it's magic right now it's show hey before it was each year old
jackie robinson fernando was one of those people and that's really an encounter with the divine it's
literally an encounter with god and so that's why i think you should be the hall of fame yeah there's
There's like that X factor, you know, that impact that even maybe some of the best players don't have because they don't have.
We're talking about it with like they have a charisma to them, you know.
And I think the representation, you know, the, us being able to be there and see ourselves in that type of a player.
We see it right now with Shohei and how many people from the Japanese community are now showing up to the games.
They change the parking signs.
If you drive in now, they have Japanese parking signs so people know where to go.
when they're visiting.
And you got to think Fern did that for us Mexicans in the Mexican community and the Latino
community in Los Angeles.
Can you take us to that?
Because, you know, we can't talk about the Dodgers without talking about, especially
the L.A. Dodgers without talking about Chavez Ravine and the clear displacement and
horrors that those families had to go through.
Yet despite all of that and afterwards all of that, it was him that seemed to be the bridge
of a community that once felt like they couldn't step into that venue to that.
That venue is home now.
Well, here's the interesting thing.
So, you know, mention a lot of stories.
Dr. Stadium, yes, was built on three former Mexican-American neighborhoods.
La Loma, Palo Verde, and Bishop.
And so a lot of people, it was like coming in about a thousand, a couple thousand people,
they were displaced.
So a lot of Latinos, you know, for the next 15 years after Dodger Stadium was open,
they had a lot of resentment.
But I do want to push back on that only because I say this.
You also have in the 70s and early 80s, hundreds of thousands of Mexican.
immigrants coming who did not know about the history.
My, my, my, Dioza, my dad, they didn't know about Chavez Ravine.
They knew about Davey Lopes.
They knew about Steve Garvey.
They knew about Ronte and all those people.
But this is where the magic of Fernando came.
Yes, he was that bridge between the people who did know the story about Chavez Ravine,
and he also brought in all these fans.
But this is the most important thing to remember about Fernando.
Baseball had Mexican-American ballplayers who were all-star.
They had great Latino ballplayers like Juan Marichal and all that.
But never did Latinos have a,
player who was the best of the best.
That was Ferdano in 81.
He was the best player of anyone.
Not the best Latino ball player, not the best Dodger.
He was a phenomenon.
No one has ever been able to reach his height.
And that's what made him so magical.
Like, yes, he was important for Latinos in L.A., for sure.
Anywhere he'd go from the country, the stadiums would get packed with elsewhere.
Because everyone's like, in a country and a city where Mexicans have always been looked down
upon, this guy is the best of the best.
And now, guess what?
Everyone wants to be a Mexican like Fernando.
And that was, even Ronald Reagan.
Ronald Reagan was like, hey, you know, he had the ambassador of Mexico in 81.
And he's like, I want to meet Fernando.
So here comes the ambassador.
Hey, Fernando, vasco on meo, la Casa Blanca?
Well, yeah, like, no?
That's incredible.
Yeah.
You know, it's crazy because we're running a promo.
And if you hear it, like, there's, is it Vince Cully?
Vince Culley?
I want to ask him about that.
Yeah.
Vince Cully says, if you have a sombrero thrown in the air.
And then I'm like, whoa.
But also, in 2024.
Yeah.
But Vic and Greg were like, no, like that was the time.
Yeah.
Oh, look. And also look, it was Vince Gully.
Everyone loves Vince Gulley.
You can say whatever.
And people, excuse me, well, we at the time, we have a photo.
This is a funny one.
Fernando de Bigel Sombrero, along with Tommy La Sorda and the Bigel Sombrero.
That's right.
St. Robert probably couldn't do that anymore.
People saying, oh, come out.
But yeah, that was the time.
But that's the thing.
People were so joyous.
And also non-latinos just didn't know how to
communicate, like, respect towards Mexican.
So they kind of did some stereotype things.
Even the whole idea of Fernando, like the stand, the marquee would say, OLE, you know,
O'Le, the Spanish.
Yeah, it's not our thing.
Yeah, I get you.
El Toro, you know, El Aral Toro, and so people loved them.
And even though he did not have the best overall career, people forever loved him.
There's so many of us here in Southern California have stories of seeing him somewhere.
And you don't even say Fernando.
You go, Toro, Toro, Como'sazas, Toro?
Like he would be there.
He would be there just, you know, knew how much people loved them and understood that.
And like, we're never going to see another one like him.
Yes.
Thank you so much, bro.
Thank you so much for calling in.
Thank you.
No, thank you for having me.
I really appreciate it.
And thank you for having Mariachi on, on L.A. radio on English.
I know.
I know.
We're going to do it again.
I need more tears.
I need to let that cry out.
You know, once you start crying and look, can I try to hold it together?
I was trying to hold it together because we're on Twitch.
Thanks, Jose.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's all the cameras on this right now.
I'm like, you just got to let it go.
We're taking your calls too.
If you like to share something about Fernando Valenzuela,
we lost him at the age of 63.
And you know, we're talking about this.
And it's like we can't let someone like this pass
and not give it their own moment to,
like give that person what they mean to Los Angeles.
Even if you didn't know,
you're going to learn so many things about the man,
the myth, the legend that is Fernando Valenzuela.
Yeah, I want to hear like stories of like,
obviously we all have like baseball.
I mean, not all of us.
We weren't able to watch him like that.
But I want to hear stories of like you run into him getting a burrito downtown or something.
Like I want to like these, if anybody has these like personal story.
Yeah.
I'm saying that they've ran into him in the city.
You know, he was here for 30 plus years in Los Angeles, right?
So like I just want to hear stuff like that.
If anybody has any of those stories.
We have Tony right now from South Central.
And Tony, you were actually at the World Series in 1988, dog.
What?
Oh, what's up?
What's the brown bag?
What's crack?
What's that?
Oh, gee.
You know, it's the infamous Tony Corral calling in again.
I love you guys, man.
Okay, Tony.
So trip out.
Yeah, man.
It's a trip, bro.
Like, I'm glad I'm done shedding the tear right now
because you guys made all of Los Angeles cry with that mariachi stuff, man.
Yeah, we need it, bro.
But, um, hold on.
Let me catch my breath.
I got you, Tony.
Um,
damn.
Well, back in the days, um, you know, in 88, I went to the, um, I went to the World Series with my dad, right?
And, um, it was crazy that my dad tried sneaking us down to get better seats.
And, um, what was crazy about that was when we went to the game, right?
Um, I remember my dad saying, hey, we're going to go down.
And I remember there was an escalator.
I don't know if the escalator is still there in Dodger Stadium, I think it is.
But we're going down or we're going up, either whatever it was.
But I remember seeing a Dodger player, right?
And my dad's like, oh, look, there goes Fernando.
And I remember.
So I told, hey, Fernando, what's up?
And, you know, I won't forget.
He had the most thick hair.
He had a bunch of hair.
Yeah, he has really big hair.
And I'll never forget.
He pointed at me and my dad, and he said,
he said, if I can do, you can do.
And I was like, what he's saying?
He thought, if I can do, you can do.
And that stuck with me forever.
I'll never forget that.
He was just saying, if he can do it, I can do it.
You know, and that was like, it's always stuck in my head.
And now he's up in heaven with my past, probably playing cats,
talking about the game, whatever.
But it's such a beautiful thing to hear.
Los Angeles, respect this man.
And regardless what the L.A. Times guys had to say about this and that, blah, blah, blah.
You know, they're a little bit bipolar those newspaper guys.
I know.
I wonder what I'm in big.
He was like our uncle.
You know what I'm saying?
Like Fernando Valenzuela was a stamp in Los Angeles.
He was like bad.
He was like the Tio that you wanted to be a part of.
He felt like family.
When I was watching him on TV, it felt like my uncle was on the mound, you know.
And when he told me that, I'll never forget it, guys.
It was such a cool moment that he said, if I can do, you can do it.
And he had that such a heavy accent.
Yeah.
And my dad, my dad, like, you know, big shout out to my dad, Tony Corral, you know, Huntington Park.
Hey, man, guys, you don't even know.
Like, Fernando was the guy, you know what I mean?
And I don't want to ever knock him or say it, talk bad about the Dodgers or worry about the drama that he went through.
Who cares about that?
What matters now is that we can honor Fernando Valenzuela for putting it down for the Raza.
And, you know, it's just such a beautiful thing.
You know, we had Nipsey, we had Kobe.
We had all these athletes that, you know, black and brown love them.
but this is one of our people now.
You know what I mean?
So that's what hits difference.
And for you let me and you guys to bring in those mariachi's to honor him,
and you'll never know, hey, this is a moment in history, guys.
You guys did such a good job by bringing those mariachi's
because you guys had millions of people crying on their way to work.
Thank you, too.
And we needed to let that out because that's part of the morning, you know, for our people.
We have to cry sometimes either.
it's because we're going through personal stuff
or it's just because we love them so much.
But, hey, big shout out to you guys, man.
Thank you, Tony.
Thank you for, thank you for having me.
And, man, you know, I didn't think I was going to cry today,
but I did.
And letty, you guys are cool, man.
You're cool, too, Tony.
You're a cool guy.
You're a cool guy.
Shout out, Tony.
Hey, Tony.
Rest and peace of my love to you for your father
being passed away as well, bro.
That doesn't know.
Man, hey, you guys always show love.
You know what's good about you guys's radio show
is that I think your boss likes it
because they know that you guys
touch the people out here in the streets of L.A.
It's not just for entertainment.
This is like a personal thing.
You know, you guys do such a good job because you guys are us.
You guys are speaking through the radio coming from us.
You know what I'm saying?
And that's what L.A. is about.
You know what I mean?
And big shout out to you guys.
Love to you, Tony.
I appreciate you, Papa.
You have a good morning.
And we're going to bring the Mariachi in again to sing a couple of songs before they leave
because they charge me for an hour.
And they're not going to charge me for an hour and only take two songs.
You're going to get your money's worth.
Get your money's worth.
Right.
All right.
We got, but real quick, we got Hore.
KWR, Los Angeles, Power 106,
HD1, Los Angeles,
at least number one for hip-hop.
My brain is right.
Yeah, we all are.
We all are.
We all right.
It's like, you know what station you're listening to.
Yeah.
We have representing for the late Fernando Valenzuela,
and he made a great point.
You know, with someone like Kobe,
iconic to Los Angeles,
and you have to stop time.
Yeah.
You have to give him his love.
Yeah.
We are stopping time for Fernando.
Valenzuela who definitely did what he did as a Dodger what he represented the role model even
when he's like the thick hair like my my oldest son has that thick Fernando Valenzuela hair like I love
that I can already imagine it when he said that I'm like oh yeah like the little puffiness and it's
thick and I think Tony described it perfectly the you know if I can do it you can do it it
kind of went without saying but the fact that he actually pointed to him yeah that's a moment
Incredible.
Especially being, like, at the stadium and you hear that from a professional baseball player?
That's, like, iconic right there.
Absolutely.
Speaking of iconic, let's go to Cheppe and Oxnard.
Chepe and Oxnard, good morning.
Good morning.
How are you guys doing?
Just by reading your notes, I'm already jealous of you, bro.
We're not doing okay, but we're here.
We're not good, but we're here together, Chepe.
Talk to us.
What do you have to say about Fernando Valenzuela, bro?
Well, you know, aside from being a little bit sad and being happy for all those great moments,
brought to us, you know, on the field and off the field, you know, an example.
Back in 2010, I was going to get engaged.
And I just had a wild idea, you know, a thought that I wanted to see if it can come through.
So I hit up the Dodgers, you know, office and whatnot.
And I'm like, hey, I want to, I ran out of suite, the biggest suite.
I want to have all my family there.
And I don't know if it, you know, be part of it.
And they're like, in what way?
I'm like, well, you know, I'm going to have my people in there, and obviously I'm going to have to talk to him beforehand.
I'm going to give them the ring, and I want to spend and surprise everybody by giving me the ring, and then from there I'll propose.
So sure enough, you know, we're having a good time.
We're there at the suite because it was my wife's birthday, which was my wife's then, but it was a birthday.
Everybody's there for, quote-unquote, her birthday, and I was having a good time watching the Dodgers beat the Braves.
and, you know, being loud and whatnot, and I tell everybody, hey, hold on,
they're, you know, though you guys are being too loud, it's probably security.
Well, sure enough, it's Fernando.
They lose their mind, my uncles, my aunts, my cousins.
They're like ecstatic seeing Fernando, you know, the hero.
And they're jumping for joy.
And I'm like, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, you know, calm and calming everybody down
because it's hard to do that when they see Fernando.
Of course.
He walks into your suite, yeah.
Yeah, he comes up to me, and, Cheppe, you forgot.
something. I'm like, what is that, Fernando? And at this point, my sister's, my sister Martin
Eric are bringing my, my wife near me. And he gives me the ring and right then and there,
I get on my knee and I propose. And everybody loses it. I mean, Fernando there, I'm proposing.
Not, not everybody knew about it.
Chepa, who are you that you can call the? Yeah. And you're in the Lodger's,
that you get the Lodgis Street. We didn't know, we need to know each other. Yeah.
Hey, Cheper, bring my Primo. Yeah. Prima. Are you, I'm not a star connect.
What are you? Where are you at?
I'm the doctor-connected. I'm a die-hard.
I can truly say I'm a really die-hard.
Yeah.
And because of Fernando, you know, my family, I'm left-handed.
There's a little thing that, and my family that my dad tied my hand when I was a baby back,
so I can be a left-handed like Fernando.
Oh.
That's crazy because Mexicans are the least in opposite.
Aside from being a baseball legend, he had that part of that moment of his.
impact our life in that special way.
And, you know, it was back in 2010,
so it wasn't like, you know,
a lot of social media,
like that.
But luckily, one of my aunts,
rest and peace,
my Tiena,
and she recorded it
and she put it up on YouTube.
Oh, I have to watch it.
You would have gone viral.
It's under,
it's pretty simple.
Cheppe and Patty,
Cheppe and Patty engagement.
Chepe, who are you,
I know.
I'm looking up right now.
What's Cheppe short for?
Chopo.
No, just kidding.
Jose.
Why does Jose?
Jose is already a short.
short name. Literally, Chepe is longer than
the name Jose. I don't understand.
Make it make sense, please.
All right, Chepe. I'll hit you when I'm at
Oxnard, okay? That's right.
Hit me up. All right. Thank you for calling.
Bro, that's so tight. That is cool.
That is an incredible story.
To be able to say, like, yeah, I got engaged
and Fernando was there to bring the ring?
You know, that's a guaranteed yes.
100% every single time
the girl was like, hell yeah. If you look up
Chepa's a proposal, it's just a guy running on the
field proposing to his girl.
Oh, that's another Chepen.
That's another guy, Chepetpe.
All right. Let's go to Jorge and Pecoyma.
Jorge, I'm afraid to go to you, Doug.
I'm very afraid to go to you, bro.
You're a friend?
No, no, no, no.
Yes, Jorge, I remember.
The number one self-proclaimed Dodger Meader.
Dodger and Nader from the Hills.
I don't know if we should be answering this call.
Yeah, should we just...
What is up, Doug?
No, I will never disrespect Fernando Valenzuela, ever.
That's why my dad growing up,
that's why they used to come in Torito when I used to pitch.
And I didn't know what it was.
was. I didn't know. I didn't know what it was.
Until later, later in high school, like, oh, that was the nickname for Fernando Valenzuela.
I was in the last people, my dad told me how to throw a screwball when I was young.
And I didn't know the story, but then we're going back into it into our history.
We had a lot of, a lot of photos that Dodger stayed. And we even had a photo when he pitched
for the Angels, but he did for the Angels as well.
Yeah. You don't talk about Bruno.
Gross.
So, yeah, I'm a Dodger hater, but I'll never hate on him.
The love of the game
For me and my dad
It's because of him
Wow
I love that Jorge
It says a lot

He's like, he looks like my Tio.
I can be my Tio right there and there.
Like, that could be me one day.
Yeah.
As a baseball fan.
All right, you guys, they're back.

Now get ready for it.
Thank you, thank you.
LA, let's show love and represent for our rei,
Fernando Valenzuela, the legend that will never die right here on Power 106.
We're going to stay for photos because they have really cool suits on.
L.A., we love you.
We're still going to be here, still taking your call, still representing for Fernando Valenzuela,
but I just only paid an hour, so they got to go.
Everybody in my live is like, yo, one more song, I'll pay for it.
We love you guys so much.
Muchas gracias, Otrade.
And we're going to put the card up on our social.
They are incredible.
been in my feelings this home morning.
And I feel like sometimes when you're when you're Mexican, nothing can get it out,
but mariachi, yeah.
You know?
It unlocks the two sadness.
Yeah.
Although some nomen, when they're in the, las lachrimas, right?
Like, no matter what, this gets our feelings out.
And I, and I appreciate you guys so much for coming in.
But I just want to tell you, L.A. family, when we cry together, it's forever now,
dog.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, we cry together.
It's forever now.
Yeah.
Now we're family.
Yeah, we're family.
That's official.
If it wasn't already.
Yeah, all morning long honoring the life of Fernando Valenzuela,
legendary Dodgers pitcher.
And we were taking your calls to,
we'll still continue to definitely want to call throughout.
We got you.
We had the Maraci come in and make us crying.
While wearing all blue, looking all tight and nice.
And then we had collars in, like our guy Chepa from Oxnard,
my rich brimaux that rented out a Dodgers suite.
And he said, he said, you know, I called the Dodgers.
Who just calls the Dodgers?
Yeah, I just called up their all.
office like Dodgers have a number like that I guess the Dodgers.
Hello, can I speak to the Dodgers?
And I said, let me get your biggest suite.
And then, hey, can Fernando Fernando come through, by the way?
And I brought all my friends and family.
Yeah, and Fernando Alenzuela was there like to help him propose to his girl.
I don't mean the, he brought the ring.
Yeah, I was like, I don't mean a pocket watch, but damn.
That was like trying to do the cook math in my head.
I'm like, yeah, exactly.
And my husband sent me the video, it's real.
Wow.
That's crazy.
That's incredible.
Super tight.
I was also thinking about just, remember how I mentioned, like, with Hugo Sanchez and Julio Cesar Chavez and Fernando
Valenzuela being like the big three of like Mexican sports in the 80s.
Now that I'm thinking about like another kind of big three that's like, unfortunately, in the sky is like Tommy LaSorda.
That was his manager, right?
That was Fernando Valenzuela's manager.
Vin Scully.
Vin Scully was calling the games.
It's like those three were such an iconic trio.
So, you know, Fernando Manzuela, and now the three of them are in heaven.
I'm just like, oh, man, that thought, like, made me tear up.
Like, somebody on our live said that Tommy took the ball, like Tommy LaSorda took the ball and said, like, you're done, Fernando.
Like, that's, you know what I'm saying?
I'm sorry.
I know, I'm sorry.
You don't have to put makeup on over.
I do, dog.
I'm sorry.
I'm just telling you, like.
Oh, you read on the life.
Yes.
And it made me.
How you're saying?
Greg, why are you laughing?
Why are you laughing at your tears?
And then, you know, and then just to think of like Vin.
Being like, and that's all for Fernando today, you know.
Bro, shut up!
I'm sorry!
This is going on my head!
I'm sorry.
He's digging deeper and deeper and deeper.
Hey, you know you're sad.
Everyone was sad.
Sorry, sorry.
What's going on in my time?
More sadness.
More sadness.
Okay.
We're deeping, we're delving deep into our feelings this morning and remembering our guy,
Fernando Valenzuela coming up at 10.30 a.m.
Again this morning with.
Mariani, if you missed it.
But right now we have tickets to see
Forza Rejida's Don't Fall in Love Festival
with Little Baby Kodak Black, Chinopacas,
sexy red, two short and more, okay?
We have those tickets, and we're going to play love songs.
This is the Don't Fall in Love.
Yeah.
Festival, yeah.
Don't fall in.
Who was that?
Who was that?
And it's keeping going.
He closed his laptop so fast.
Jose, he needed to stop, dog.
Jesus Christ.
Let me turn it all the way.
Trying to find locals, Latinos near you.
Chill out.
Hey, send me the link.
Chill out.
Chill out.
Okay.
You guys don't follow up.
Three dollars.
Okay, so we're taking calls right now, and you are going to have to guess the mashup of love songs that Greg did.
Yeah.
So earlier he did a hotline bling mix with Let Me Love You mixed with all my life.
Baby, baby.
Pray for someone like you.
So let's go to Nae.
Naisha, Naisha, good morning, Naisha.
Hi, good morning.
Hi, baby girl.
Are you trying to win these tickets?
Yes.
All right, Mamasita.
So Greg is going to play some love songs.
You sound really young.
You sound like you didn't even understand
what all my life was or did you know it?
Yeah, I'm only 20.
Oh, thank you.
How would you know about the greatness of Casey and Jojo?
Oh, my gosh.
Okay, well, I believe in you.
Yeah, good luck.
All right.
which you know about love, girl.
All right, no, check this out.
Here we go.
Are you listening?
Yeah, I'm good.
Okay.
Give me around for my money.
There's no money.
No one there's run.
I see you whining and grinding.
I got a car.
On the flow, I know you're seeing me.
Vic is so dumb.
Yeah, big answer.
Vic, do you see how much you are on that match?
Acorns.
Do you hear it?
My intrusive thoughts.
My guy, acorns.
He's my guy.
Play it again.
Baby girl,
I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry.
Same songs, same songs,
but you have to tell us the song.
Sorry.
I'm trying to turn to turn this.
Give me a run for my money.
There's nobody.
No one never run.
I see you winding and grinding
up on the floor.
I know you see you.
Naisha, what you got, baby girl?
Oh my God, the funny thing about this is I know all of them.
Like, I can sing them, but the names like...
Are tripping you out?
If you know them.
No, yeah.
But I know them because I have older sisters and they...
Oh, my God.
I'll give it to if you can sing some more.
Like, play the first one and let her sing some more because I wanted to put her...
Let's see.
Olive glass.
Another world from my money
Keep going
Come on, Nisha
Something about being lovely
And then, oh my God
No, no, no
I can sing everyone
I can't take a different part of the song
No?
No
No
What happened?
Ah
She's trying to
She's just sharp Vanessa
You would be going
More Guy Aikud
Gould
Gave away the answer
Did not apparently
You leave her alone. She's 20 years old, okay?
My God.
We need her to grow with us.
All right, we got Victor from West Covina.
Hey, Victor.
What's up, Victor?
What's up, Victor?
Hey, what's up?
It's Victor, Vali and Suela, to be exact, guys.
Oh, that's a team, Victor.
I'm sure that he's different to him today, huh?
Come on, Vic.
No, I'm going to win because I'm going to give it to me anyways.
I didn't even got a guess.
A con.
Nah, I'm messing with you,
I'm talking about.
I want to say,
I'm doing that this morning.
And, yeah, man, see if I can win, of course.
Okay, we're going to see if you're going to win too.
Honestly, I'm not going to tell you right now.
I don't know what you're saying, but we're going to figure it out.
All right.
Greg is going to play three songs.
You're going to tell us what they are, okay?
Okay.
Ready?
All right, Greg.
I'm such a five for you.
I do that three four times and can I testify for you.
If I wrote you a symphony.
How much you mean to me?
My guy.
Woo!
Can't take my eyes off of you.
Okay, Victor.
Oh, man.
You got me on the last one at all.
It's just a Timberlake.
I did not hear the last one at all.
No.
How are you not hear the last one at all?
Serious.
I didn't hear it at all, no.
Play the three one more time.
I can't take my eyes off for you.
Victor.
Okay.
Man,
Sizup, Justin Timoneck, and Fugis.
And the Fugis is a good guess.
It's a wrong guess, but it's a good guess.
Also, I'm not asking you for the people.
We're asking.
I'm asking for the name of the song.
For the song.
The songs themselves?
Oh, no, I got the name of the song.
Okay.
Oh, nah.
The president got me as it is
All right
It was nice talking to you
Mr. Valenzuela
I appreciate you,
I'm sorry
Thank you
I'm gonna talk to you
Aw,
that last one hurt me
Honestly
Angie, what is the name of the songs
To be
Lauren Hill
They're not
That's the name of a song
Can't take my eyes off of you
And then Justin Timberlick
The
Play it again
But let me love
No, it's not the
Let me love you
If I wrote you a symphony
Bro, you got to play more, brother
That song is so easy
Yeah, I know, oh my God
I just sang it the other day too
My love
My love
Yeah
You don't want to give you a sexy back
I would have lost
I'm bringing sex in bed
Dude
Nobody's
No, you're making them hard
I'm making them pretty easy
No, they're easy
That was easy
That was not easy
What was the Sizz of the song?
I'll play it again.
I'm such a fine for you.
I do that three boys and something good.
Yeah.
It's like I know it but I yeah that's what baby girl said.
It's the main part of the song.
I know.
I think we should just let people finish the lyric because the way that you're doing it is really hard to do the name of the song.
We're not.
That's a lot better.
Snoose.
I can't lose when I'm with you.
Okay, Rose.
We got Rose from Woodyier.
Ross.
It can not call you.
Can I call you, Ro.
All right.
Rose.
Hey, Rosa.
Rosa.
Rose.
Hello.
What are you doing?
What are you doing?
What are you doing?
Just, I'm about to drop my daughter off.
I here at daycare so I could log in to my car.
Oh.
Hi, Rosa's daughter.
Have a good day at daycare.
Okay, Rose.
Thank you.
You want to win these tickets?
Sure, yes.
Okay.
Okay.
We're going to play the songs.
You either tell us.
the name of the songs or finish the lyrics
to the songs?
This one's the easiest one, I think.
Okay, it's the easy one, Rose.
This one's the easiest one.
Okay, you ready?
Yes.
Let her help you, let her help you.
I'm finding ways to articulate the feeling I'm going through.
I want a tea.
Oh, my God.
I want to bring out.
My God.
But you in a mansion.
Hey.
Somewhere in Wisconsin.
Who is it?
But you're going to
One of those little flowers in your hair
Have you looking like a fly, mamacita?
You're going to don't fall in love, baby girl.
Shout out to you, mamacita.
You actually finished the lyric.
You did.
You got to see.
You got to go.
You're going to something.
You go, girl?
You're going to go see.
Puerrejada, little baby,
Kodak, black, chino, pacas, and so many more.
Don't fall in love festival.
Congratulations.
Ciao.
What's up?
Thank you guys.
Let me say bye to baby girl.
Say bye, baby.
Bye, baby.
Oh.
With Angie.
Okay, I know it's spooky season.
Yes.
So how can we not talk,
how can we talk about spooky stuff
without the queen of Halloween?
Who's that?
No, no, no, that's Christmas.
No, that's the, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, I'm scared.
Angie, what is that?
It's her intro.
Hi.
No, Angie, I'm not that old.
My mom, when I wake her up at 2 a.m.?
Yeah.
No, I'm talking about...
What is that?
Elvira.
Mistress of the dark.
Okay, not going to lie, I thought Elvira and Mortisha were the same person.
You're not alone.
Because me too.
I thought she was a...
Yeah, from the...
Adam's family.
She's not.
She has a carol.
That was just like the Buchona of the time.
They all looked the same.
They all had the same look.
There's two gothic women with cleavage showing.
And longs black hair.
Mortisha is a batty.
She is.
She's a baddie.
Ovar's a bad.
Yeah.
She's a bad.
Back in her heyday.
Maybe not so much now.
But yeah.
Okay, but Alvira is like a real, like where mortisha is a character, like a fictional character.
Alvira's a person?
Yeah, she's a person.
She is the Mistress of the Dark, queen of Halloween.
So she was on her Instagram, right?
She just did a panel.
And she goes and she posts like this video, like a whole video with the caption saying,
Storytime.
Uh-huh.
And so the video starts off.
fan she's doing a panel again and so a fan asked her like hey um olvirah can you share like your
best celebrity encounter and she's like i'll tell you the worst encounter and guess who is she named
oh i'm scared because i do i've seen her at natsbury farm and a lot of people go like she has a show
there right yeah i think i don't remember what she does but she has a show there she has a collab right now
which makes sense yeah who do you think it is better not slender who i think it is who who is a mean celebrity
Yeah, but it's better not sound
It has that reputation
I know
Who's a wicked celebrity that we know
Oh, that's good
I will not stand for this at all
Is it?
I don't want to say
Because they're going to come from me
But who is it?
It's Ariana Grande
Don't say it
She said it
She said it
She's like Ariana Grande
And she goes and starts saying this
She came and she brought 20 guests
She wanted 21 tickets
We're like, okay
And we give me the tickets
And she comes backstage
and she asked if I could take pictures with all of her friends and relatives she brought.
I take a picture with every single one of them.
I sign autographs for every single one of them.
Then I say to her, can we take a photo together?
She goes, nah, I don't realize if that.
I mean, come on.
She said no.
Ariana denied a picture to Elvara after she hooked her up with tickets,
signed autographs to pictures, all that stuff.
That's the least she can do.
And this is the thing with Ariana Grande specifically, is that.
that there have been previous reports that she is, like, just very, like, diva.
Yes, right?
She's perfect.
But, like, we know divas, like, Mariah Carey, like a Nikki Minard, like, like, a Winnie Houston.
There's, like, these divas where they're incredible artists, and they also, they have a way about them.
Yeah, no.
And she's still perfect.
And she's amazing still.
But I think, like, now you can't be that, I guess.
No, not anymore, because the story, she continues.
You thought that was the ending.
Oh, I thought that was the end.
No, Elvira continues.
Okay.
And then she left before my show started.
All her relatives stayed.
And she took off.
So imagine.
She gets hooked up and then she still has the audacity to go and leave.
And so someone in her family probably wanted to see Elvira and not her?
Okay, okay.
Okay, so this basically what I'm thinking that happened is like her family wanted to go see it.
She didn't want to see it.
Maybe she was just like, what is this?
Who cares about that?
And then obviously like Elvira was like, oh wow, you're Ariana Grande.
This will be great for my social media.
Yeah, I know you are.
Your whole family came and you came to come see me.
I hooked you up with tickets.
Yeah, I gave you 21 tickets.
Like a barter.
Yeah, yeah.
And so Ariana's like, no, I'm out of here.
You know what I'm saying?
And then basically pieced out.
And Elvira probably felt like, damn, you just used me.
Yeah, pretty much.
Yeah.
And Elvira remembers that for, I don't know how long ago it was.
But what's her face?
Ariana Grande, she actually did reply back underneath that post.
And she was like, she made like a whole little essay.
She's like, I actually don't remember getting the chance to meet you because I have an anxiety
attack.
I had an anxiety attack.
And to my memory left before the rest of my family, she's like, this was around seven years
at the time.
I was really not great with being in public crowds or loud places.
But I miss me, but if I miss remembering this moment, I since.
seriously apologize for offending you.
So thank you for being so nice to my mom.
She told me how lovely you were.
And then she's like, sending love always.
You'll always be our queen of Halloween.
See?
Yeah.
You can see that her mom was the fan.
Yeah, the fed.
Okay.
So, I mean, I respect to kill them with kindness, you know, comment.
She's not killing him with kindness.
She's apologizing.
Erriana Grande did nothing wrong.
She just had anxiety.
I mean, I don't know.
It could be that.
But she also had.
has not earned herself the benefit of the doubt recently because of how she's like acted and other people have said similar things like oh like she does this and does that and she looked the donut and put it back and like we've just seen her like kind of act out and like I wish I was like a brat basically you know what I'm saying it's kind of just like okay well if you do that again we're not gonna believe you in a sense yeah no it's just like we're gonna believe that you were like you know throwing a little tantrum or something you know what I'm saying what's like that's like that's what you've shown ain't no problem with that she's so I guess so virus shows like a little bit of like I guess I guess all virus shows like I
actually had a TV show back in the day so they run stuff like that.
Yeah.
Fortune telling telling type of stuff situation.
I was trying to figure out like what does the show, but.
What is it consistent?
Like scary stories.
I know Greg, team Ariana here.
No, 100%.
Are you all right?
Yeah, yeah.
I love her so much.
It's so beautiful.
Arianna,
Hey, Rihanna.
Hit me up.
She's cool, I guess.
You're not her type.
I am her type.
Have you seen people she did?
I feel like to me, I'm like a 10 to some people that she's there.
No, you don't look like Shumulat.
I'm just like, aha.
What's up,
Call me Domingo.
If you haven't seen yet.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I was going to lower him a little bit.
My niece, she's actually a big Ariana Grande fan.
And I told her, I'm like, I'm going to talk about her.
She's like, what did she do this time?
And so I already know that their girl gets like those types of complaints about her.
And so I told her the story.
And then she's like, yeah, everyone knows she's like that.
So what?
Yeah, right?
So what?
So what?
They've accepted how she is.
Yeah.
She's still my queen.
I don't care what she does.
She can do no wrong in my eyes.
She's very much less.
See, you know how I'm putting?
Because I'm...
Yes.
Yeah.
She's like, you already know who I am.
This is me.
This I am.
I do know a lot of people that have a problem with Ariana because of how she did
Mac Miller.
Yeah.
So that too.
Yeah.
So there's just like this constant like on her.
Side eye.
Like, side eye.
Yeah.
But I'm still going to see Wicked.
I can't wait.
Me too.
Yeah.
Very fitting type.
I do think the way she was.
responded was really nice.
Yeah, she's just saying she had an...
But I feel like maybe she's making it up with the anxiety attack and not being good in
public safe.
People can't have anxiety?
Yes, but I feel like...
She's a celebrity.
She's in big crowds.
People watching her.
You weren't, that wasn't happening while I was taking a photo of each of your family
members that got in for free because you asked for it.
No, what I will say is like, okay, I've had an anxiety attack.
I remember it.
I remember it vividly.
So she said...
For her to say I don't remember.
I'm misremember.
Maybe I'm misremembering.
or whatever.
So it's like which one is it?
Is it you had an anxiety attack or you don't remember?
Because usually you remember things like that.
Yeah.
And then even in that little comment, she said, clearly we all have our days.
Yeah.
You know what she said?
So it's like, come on.
Okay, Greg.
We get it.
I get it.
It's okay.
You're like my niece.
Thank you next.
That's what she said.
You won't say that until there's an artist that's like, hey, Greg, let all my family in free to your gig, okay?
And they want photos with you.
And the moment you want a photo with them, they're like, oh, no.
Oh, she told me.
I would still be in love with her.
I would want her even more.
I would want her because she doesn't want me
and I'm like, I want her.
I'm over.
Thank you, Angie.
Yeah.
All right.
Greg,
Cajette.
Yeah.
Respect for Sondraza.
Brat to you by a local
Southern California and Toyota dealers.
I'm Angie from Brownback Mornings.
I'm part of one of those.
Rolling with the homie.
The homie.
Ariana Nader himself.
Yes.
Greg.
Leti.
Halloween is coming soon very, very, very fast.
I'm going to tell you right now.
We had an idea.
And I'm going to say it now because just so you know,
Vic, we're not able to do it.
Me, Vic, and our friend Duna for the pod,
we're like, hey, what should we be?
And I'm like, what if we are all Spider-Man
and we do the pointing thing at each other?
That'd be funny.
That's cool.
And Halloween's next week, dog.
Yeah, next thing.
Like, if we buy it now, it'll come in time.
Nope.
I want to see Duno and Spino.
I was looking for the Spider-Man costumes.
Yeah, they guys were making fun of it.
They were saying there's like a porky man or...
Yeah.
Spider-pig?
Spider-pig?
No, no, not that one.
Not that one.
No, there's the Spiderverse.
No, it's part of the Spiderverse.
There's like a...
All right.
Anyway, that's not the point that I was trying to make.
Yeah, that's the point that I was trying to make is that I went to order it and it's no, like, it doesn't come.
And the one that I found, I was like, yes, I'm going to order.
And it says, we'll ship November 6th.
Yeah, I don't want to November 6th.
When does anybody need a costume in November?
Well, sometimes like the flirt, flurries, furries?
Furries?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I order costumes because I do a lot of skits and stuff like that.
You got an extra Spider-Woman costume?
Batman.
No, Batman.
Okay, okay.
But that's what I'm saying.
But it's tough.
It's tough out here.
There's a lot of people that are waiting last minute to get their costumes.
But I have those last idea ones that are going viral because they're not that hard to put the together.
Okay.
Yeah, it's pretty simple.
And some of them are kind of out of pocket, in my opinion.
So I'm going to start at the top of the list.
This one's pretty easy.
You're going to like this one.
The Paris Olympics break dancing girl.
Love it.
Easy, right?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
The kangaroo hop.
Yes.
Green jumpsuit, green hat, white shoes.
No, that's moves.
Yeah, no, all you have to do is dance.
Barely.
Next on the list.
Next on the list, the easiest one.
Justin Timberlake's mugshot.
Why?
All it takes is a black shirt and some alcohol and that's it.
What about the...
Greg, that's nothing for you.
Does it come with dilated eyeballs?
True.
Maybe you want to do that too as well.
Don't beat his mug shot,
God.
Do it better.
Next on the list,
I think Angie's going to like this one.
Sad, Ben Affleck.
Affleck.
Affleck.
Affleck.
Affleck.
Affleck.
Affleck.
Sad.
Oh, like him upset?
Yes.
Is that him in a Dunkin' Donuts or what is it?
Yes, it's just holding Dunkin' Donuts.
With the cigarette.
With bummy clothes on being sad.
Yeah.
That's like all of us.
Everything.
Right?
That is true.
There's some other ones as well.
Grimmis and then flamed.
You can be an inflatable grimace.
Do not be an inflatable grimace in Los Angeles unless you want someone that's dressed up as a Dodger player to...
Your favorite one right now.
Another inflatable.
Which one?
Mudang.
They have an inflatable mudang?
That's the hippo.
That's the cute little hippo.
Yes.
They have...
Water off a hose.
He does.
It's so cute.
It's so cute.
He's an inflatable costume of mudang.
I have to see that one.
Yeah.
Everybody's buying it.
It's just a big hippo.
Inflatable.
That's it.
So everybody's like, I'm mooing.
What about it like, does it come with a hose?
You could add that on.
That's actually a pretty impressive idea.
Does it have like, I don't know, this full always looks shiny.
Baby, is it a shiny hippo?
Oh, I don't know.
We're out of stock on those out here.
Yeah, the court has one.
That would be cool, because I too have drank water off a hose, so that would be dope.
You different, water, different hose.
Oh.
You're thinking of something else.
Stop it.
Up next another inflatable, a Stanley Cup inflatable.
Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes.
inflatable Stanley Cup
How do you go to the restroom with those?
You just deflate it.
You have to wait for it to do it.
Oh my God.
You're like,
Pete and it's ripping.
I don't mean to interrupt, but I don't.
So me and my girl dressed up this past Halloween for
Tommy and Pam, right?
A lot of people said we didn't hit it.
Yeah.
Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson.
Tommy Lee from my own.
90s rock couple.
Yeah, 90s rock couple.
Yeah.
From Motley crew, yes.
So man, now like boyfriend response.
Responsibilities are crazy.
I had to, like, do her corset thing.
Yeah.
That was so tough.
I was sweating.
I was, I hurt my finger.
I was bleeding.
You know?
To get it tight.
Yes, I'm like,
meanwhile she's holding what you.
Yes, I'm like, this is hard work.
Every time she wanted to go to the bathroom,
I was like, you're not going to bathroom anymore.
That's it.
I'm done with you going to the bathroom.
The next time you take this off is at the end of the night.
Exactly.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
Just men be careful of like helping your girl out with the girl costume.
Yeah.
Coming in at number one again.
Coming in?
Last minute?
Last minute easy costumes to do.
Number one, again.
Skibbitty toilet.
That's so dumb.
Wait, please don't be Skibbitty toilet.
No, it's this year.
It's going to get me the hippie-jibis.
Yes.
At the beginning of the Halloween season in August, they were saying like this is going to be the
trending one.
And so you're saying it's definitely the trending.
Definitely trending.
No, it's not.
What they're saying you can do is a black t-shirt and then just take an old toilet.
Old toilet seat.
Gross.
Take it off of an old toilet?
And word around your neck.
That's so disgusting on so many levels.
That's not even funny.
You're going to get E.
Coli.
That's disgusting.
You are.
Just don't leave, bro.
Like, and who has like an old toilet scene hanging out?
Skippity toilet.
This is taking over.
Do you know that Northwest bought Kim Kardashian a chain?
Bomb chain, beautiful chain.
But it says skibety toilet on it.
No way.
Yep.
But it's like, you will read.
Every time I like think about skimity toilet, I just like, my shoulders like to
me and squirm.
That's cool.
Yeah, exactly.
Wakala.
Those are your
few
your last minute
costumes
if you have any
I'm gonna tell you
right now
if you're an inflatable
anything
because oh this
Skibiti to you
by the way
great song
by Nelly for Toto
Yeah
Skibbidi
They're brainwashing our kids
whatever Skibbidi
Neme Nii means
Yeah they're trying to
make them join the Navy
Yeah
someone reverse that
Let's see what the words are
If you're an inflatable
I'm gonna tell you right now
because Vic told me
you wanted to be an inflatable
And then the other time Greg was an inflatable soccer ball.
You cannot, like, you can't talk.
What do you mean?
Like, there's a fan going.
I'm like, Vic, don't be inflatable.
We have to work.
Yeah.
You can't sit down anywhere.
Yeah.
Maximo was like, you could sit.
I'm like, I can't move.
Like what do you mean?
I can't move.
Don't do that.
All right.
Just be careful.
All right.
Well, thank you for that.
Thank you for like the last minute.
If you ever see those costumes, you know it was last minute off by them.
Or you can be an Ariana Grande and you just be rude to everybody.
True.
Ha.
I'm sorry.
You can take a picture.
So you get an insane tag that.
Thank you for that.
