My name is six.
Ellie's number one for hip hop.
Buenos Dias.
Good morning to you.
Good morning.
It's Friday, but it does not feel like Friday.
It just feels like another day in this.
Fire is still going strong.
I believe the Palisades Fire, which is the first one, is 6% contained at this moment.
However, the wins are scheduled to come back throughout the weekend and today.
So our eyes are still out there.
Our thoughts are still out there.
Yes.
And, you know, I'm getting the.
the symptoms for sure of like what the bad air is doing.
Headache.
Yeah.
I've been getting it too.
The really bad headache in the throat, right?
Yeah.
The what?
The tiredness.
Yeah.
I've been feeling like kind of like lethargic like during the day after stepping out
out there.
And you're in the five, six too, right?
Yeah.
It's not as bad, but it's still like I'm like catching myself like napping during the day.
I'm like, why am I so tired?
And my sister said the same thing.
She was like, I don't know, Vic.
I'm just so.
tired, I can't get up.
Like, I don't know what's going on with me.
These are real things that you definitely need to pay attention to.
I don't know the air quality is really like, I've been worried about that since the first
day of the fires.
Because I know our efforts are going to go towards the fires as they should and the wind
and stuff that's destroyed and stuff like that.
But for all of us, including the victims that have gone through the, like their homes being
gone and the surrounding areas, all of us.
Our air is right now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was looking at like the air quality around my house.
It's like I've never seen the levels that it's gotten to.
It's like 360.
That's dangerous levels.
We, luckily for us, not luckily because Jorge has allergies.
He has really severe allergies.
So he has air purifiers everywhere.
And he brought in some more.
So we had like five air purifiers going on to the house.
However, that's, he had to get some of the filters from Offra up because
it's so out of it and pay hell of bread for it because it's so like I get not around anymore
people have scooped them up out of everywhere so I'm like super concerned about everyone's breathing
and it's weird but I'm like how you how are you doing how's your breath how's your life
yeah because that's the stuff that's going to stay with this even after all this is yeah
everybody's by purifiers and generators as you should yeah yeah facts we should have been like
my smoke got on the before yeah told you guys have you been using it the generator
I'm not using it.
Good.
But I have it just in case.
Yeah.
Power go out and stuff of that nature.
But man, bro, just take care of the way that you are handling the air quality.
If you can't, if you don't have to go out, don't go out.
The cars concern me a lot.
If you can recycle the air in your car versus getting air from outside.
Oh, yeah.
That's like a mode.
Check it out.
Recirculate the air that's in your car versus get air from outside.
Even that, because that's what I do when I drive back in.
when I drive in here, but it's like you can still feel it.
Of course.
It's just the most precautions you can take.
Yeah, no, I definitely, I found that mode on my car.
I was like, what is this?
Okay, cool, perfect.
You know what I'm saying?
Because it's like you don't want to, you want to breathe in as little of the outside air.
It's toxic.
Yeah.
As you can.
And then I, like, even understanding that all the houses that burn, I'm getting hell of ash now.
Right?
Oh, you are.
Yeah.
And my sister, she was like, you know, because the houses are old, it's not just ash from
would like you're getting that paint that was done from a long time ago and like she's not to like
scare me but for sure she scared me um was like asbestos stuff that you got you got to you got to
understand what you're breathing in that's why i don't know just the air is really scaring me
like i just want to hand everybody at an air purifier fire and even yesterday i was out by where i live
there's a lot of like street vendors and they were still setting up like the fruit people and
They're still like there, no mask, you know, because they're just trying to work, make their money for their families.
But they're not taking that into consideration because it's almost like they don't have a choice.
At all.
Yeah.
And then, and I guess now is not the time.
And I know there's a lot of people like, like, like, Maximo that are type C, then no pasanadas of the world.
That's cute.
Yeah, people going on runs.
Yeah, don't do that.
Yeah.
Because you're going to see that's going to affect your overall, like even if you feel slightly tired now.
or I don't know like you feel more mucusy
and I know already we have cold season
and it's wintertime on top of that
you don't want to add that extra with the air at all
We do have some tips up on Brown Bag Mornings 106
on Instagram for like things to do when the air quality is bad
I want to read a couple to you
Of course keep your windows and doors closed
But even there there's like cracks
So if you want to place a damp towel under the doors
and other places where air might leak in.
This one was a trip to me.
If you're out there walking around or driving around,
avoid busy roads with tall buildings.
The air pollution gets trapped on roads.
Like if you're on, like, I think of downtown L.A.
Granted, they're not as far as close to the fires,
but once that air pollution gets trapped in those buildings,
it's just hovering over there.
So definitely, definitely be careful of that.
Mawls.
Yesterday I took Lucito to the mall,
but the San Anita Mall.
which is right by the mountains.
But the air filtration and malls and stuff like that,
actually the ventilation can be good for you.
If you know that your home is like, like,
you don't really have those safe cards up.
Yeah, go to the mall.
They closed early yesterday.
I think those curfews are starting to get implemented,
especially in that area.
It was like around 6 p.m.
And they were like, all the stores were basically closed.
The food court was open so I took Lucito to eat.
Avoid using hairspray, which was a trip to me.
Clearly avoid painting in your crib.
Don't.
I know since you're home when you're thinking,
hey, now might be the best time to, like, do the thing,
the project that I was thinking of.
Definitely that adds to the air quality or lack thereof of air quality.
If you have an air conditioning unit in your home,
just like with the cars, recirculate it,
which is, I know it's tough because even the air inside might be tough,
but it's better than the air outside for a lot of us.
Someone's ring camera just went on.
Who's at their house?
I don't have ring.
I don't have ring.
And then the mass situation.
Angie, thank you so much for getting me a mask.
She got, she met so many over there.
I told you guys, I feel like masks too.
Like, I just want to give everybody a mask.
I feel like it's not being stressed enough.
It's not.
Like, how bad, like, it got politicized.
Like, wearing a mask got politicized at one point in time.
But it's like, no, please wear a mask.
Yeah.
No, it's like the, I went to my house on Wednesday to just like, you know,
take some things, you know, for the week and stuff like that.
Later on, I get in the shower, it's black stuff in my nose.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's like, how is that not being talked about or stressed enough?
It's like, you know, and if you can, if you live in those areas, like, stay with family in other areas.
That's what I did.
I haven't been to my house since Wednesday.
They said the power came back on.
I'm like, I'm not going.
Yeah, you shouldn't.
You know what I'm saying?
Until at least, I don't know, Monday or whenever the fires subside.
That's a very good plan.
And honestly, like, I feel like I have some tercos at my house.
Like men that are just like, oh, we'll be fine.
We're just going to stay here.
Like if, but.
I can see the part of it where it's like,
but I can also see like, you know, there's areas,
a drive-away where we're not subjecting ourselves
to this air quality.
So I don't know.
They even make masks for your pets.
They make, like, new dog masks and stuff like that.
Yeah, they do.
Just so your pets are safe.
Isn't that so they don't bite?
No, it's not that.
There's literally, it's like a filter.
Yeah, he needs one.
He's over both.
He's over both.
All of you guys need a mask.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I need a mask.
I'm wondering for Maximil's voice to switch.
Me?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You turn into clean air filtration.
I'm recycling air.
Yeah.
We're going to keep you updated with tips and as best we can all morning long.
Later on, we're going to take calls from different people that are being of help.
And, you know, we're talking about, like, another thing that we haven't really spoken about where there is fire and there is wind.
There's still debris everywhere.
Yeah.
There's tree branches everywhere that you got to dodge still.
And, like, I'm sure that may come secondary as opposed to, like, fighting fires as it should.
But what can you do with that or where are the resources for that specifically?
We're going to do that coming up.
Yeah, because a thing is, just because you have clear skies on one side, doesn't mean the air is clean.
It's not.
Because even for us, when we look at our, like, windows right here at work, on our right side at a moment, it's like, the,
clouds are black you can't see the sky and on the left it's like clear as day so it's just strange
how like how close they are to each other but even when we don't even notice there's a bunch of stuff
in there we can't see exactly all right keep it here again we're in here together this is these are
the times that it's like whoa these are the these are the downs as part as like the up and downs
that we're always going to be here with you um we're keeping you updated as we can on everything that's going
and all of these fires, it's up to six that are like the main fires, no?
Yes.
Camona?
I heard.
Yes.
Yes.
So we have six total.
We have the Hearst fires.
Lydia, Eaton, Palisades, Kenneth, and Sunset.
Wow.
Man.
I saw a couple other ones getting sparked up over social media like that.
They're up and then thankfully, like, they're able to contain it or like, yeah.
And then the dude from the Kenneth fire, apparently, reportedly, allegedly,
they did catch the guy that
his arson.
Did all this.
I'm wondering if he did that one specific
or if he was doing more
or he saw it going down
and then he wanted to do
like extra work on it.
It's a very odd time.
They got to really
throw a book at these guys.
But there was even like a video I think of
two like two young
like I don't know if they were teens
or young adults for sure.
coming out of like some trunk and then having gasoline.
Yeah.
And then running it.
But I'm like,
who's to say that they weren't?
They didn't want their car to blow up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
If it got too hot or by the fire.
I think they were going to drive into like a fire area and they just panicked.
You know what I'm saying?
Speaking of scrolling when we're doing viral stuff,
so much stuff is going viral that it's like should like,
is this real content or not?
Yes.
A lot of it.
I have to put on blast some of these pages though because there was a and this is very
unfortunate. There was some
a group of people that appeared to be
helping someone and Altadina
take stuff out of their home.
But Loki, because they were black,
people were like, oh, they're looting
and it's like, duh, you can't
do that. Like, it was
clear as day that you could see that they were
helping their family. It's just like, you could see
in like the dude's
face, just like the stress
and like pain. It's like, this was
I'm like
I'm coming in, taking stuff.
And Loki, honest, not for nothing.
I'm sure they do it during the daytime.
They wouldn't be okay being filmed or stuff like that of that nature.
They're literally going in the house trying to help someone.
And I'm telling you, if this was another ethnicity, you would be like, wow, they're helping to do together.
Oh my God, yeah.
There was no other context besides these were black young kids.
I think it was like no caption or something.
No caption.
Just like interpret it.
It's terrible.
It boils my blood because it's intentional with no caption.
Oh, yeah.
It's intentional with no caption.
So, like, you could take it as you may, but that also encourages people to be in their talking smack.
And there's a root of that problem is that people get paid for engagement.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
So they're going to do that and leave things up to interpretation.
That's not cool, man.
And go for the comments and go for the, you know, people, you know, sharing this and sharing that.
Being hateful.
Being hateful.
And people sitting back like, oh, cool, I'm profiting off of this.
That's so whack.
It's never cool.
but like right now it's just like come on the time
like it's not the time like if you want to do that
on your own like on your own time
like whatever
there's a lot of just tasteful stuff going around
I saw somebody promoting their rap song
in front of a fire like burnt down stuff
wow it's bad it was just so distasteful
and the song was about the smoke in the fire
just like I need a smoke still after all this fire
I was like come on bro
like super and not gonna like
like we even like we want to joke around we want to have fun and it's like is it the right time to do that
yeah as we're even prepping like low-key greg has a story ready about how tic-tok is banned for sure but it's
like dang should we even be talking about ticot right now not your i love that you have that ready
you know but it's like what is even okay to say not okay to say know that we are maneuvering
through this with you but man do i hate seeing stuff like that well again well just like you guys said
we're
do if that's your thing
yeah
but legit not even don't like
it sucks all the time yeah
but to
on these days especially man
yeah yeah yeah
get that together like
you look worse to me
like as as it says more about your
character about your page
than it does about anything you're trying to promote
or about the videos you're trying to
like have people in sight
their feelings and emotions like
I had to I had to just block
those pages.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Sorry I had to get that up, bro.
I was so mad about it.
So, to meet you right now.
It's like overwhelming.
Sure.
Yeah, you and Vic were talking about it.
Just even, I guess, the,
how heavy we all are
on these fires.
Yeah.
It's kind of like there's not an escape.
No.
No.
No.
Yeah.
It's like you go on there and you find out
that your friend's child at home is destroyed
or your friend's sister's house
got burned down.
And then you're just like,
damn.
You're just like so much
tragedy after so much tragedy and then you're kind of helpless you know what I'm saying
you can do about it yeah it's a lot all right excuse me and let me talk to my producer quick
the one you were mentioning about that's going on this weekend this weekend oh yeah but you can
but we're doing shout-outs right now yes yes I want to shout out all the Mexican
Canadian and surrounding cities and states the firefighters that are in countries
that are saying they're firefighters or even there's actually just groups of firefighters that
are coming together and coming over to help, you know, and be on the front lines.
I saw a video of the Mexican firefighters.
The airplanes?
Did you guys see that?
Oh, yeah, I don't know who's.
I just saw like a video of the airplanes like they're coming and I was like, oh,
that's so bad.
I like the community needs to help.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, so it's really nice to see just people looking out for people and putting everything
aside that, you know, with everything that goes on with like politics and everything
to just being there to, you know, give their life.
to fight because people do lose their lives in these fires.
Of course.
Absolutely.
You know, even on the, the cow fire, the website, right?
And I've been constantly checking it for the eaten fire.
When they do have the casualties, they will say the number of civilians slash number of
firefighters because they know, like, it can be, it's bound to happen.
And not just from fighting the fires, from the smoke inhalation.
Like you're thinking, we're talking about the air quality earlier.
They're going to probably the worst, most dangerous air quality.
And we're all seeing how we feel right now with, I guess, the type of air quality we're breathing in and maybe we're able to be inside or wear a mask or have air purifiers going.
They're not.
They're like all day, every day in that thick of it.
They're going towards it.
So imagine the, I guess, the symptoms that they are now having to deal with when it comes to their sinuses, their allergies, their asthma.
and all of that.
And just being like, even if you're good on that tip,
even if you have like, like,
Vic saying,
I feel sleepier.
Yeah.
I have a hell of headache.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
So all of that,
all of that is definitely something that maybe we don't really notice.
We just think,
oh, they're going with the fire holes and taking down the fire.
Right.
No, it's crazy.
Just to come from long distances,
like I'm looking at my friend's story and he's like thinking the Sacramento fire department,
but they have their truck.
Like they brought their fire truck from,
from five, six hours away, you know what I'm saying?
They drove it down here.
Belief San Diego did the same.
Yeah.
So you got to think they're all packing in there probably super uncomfortable.
You know, it definitely can be comfortable in there.
Yeah.
Driving, you know, super long distances to come, you know, help everybody affected by these fires.
That's incredible.
I also want to shout out everyone that's out there helping, like, the animals at the volunteering at the, like, vet spots.
The shelters that are going out and, like, offering their trucks to, like, pull horses.
And even all the people that are going out and fostering these animals.
Yeah.
Because I saw that like Calabasas yesterday had the fire, the West Hills one was close to them.
So they were like, hey, we need about like 70 families to foster these animals.
Wow.
And they're just asking.
And then I saw like it had like 500 comments.
So it's just like it's beautiful to see people coming together.
Yeah.
Shout out all like the clothing brands, the business owners who are opening their doors and are taking into.
donations and putting packages together to give out to people in need.
Speaking of, there is some type of, I guess, give back happening this weekend.
Yeah, so it's the wildfire relief in Pasadena.
They're doing free care package distributions this Saturday, January 11th, between 12 and 2 p.m.
They're providing essentials for all, including the babies, children, elderly, and pets.
This is happening at the West Ridge School in the city of Pasadena.
I also wanted to talk real quick about Mount Wilson.
So this may be something that y'all are seeing like, it's getting close to Mount Wilson, and it's funny because it's not funny.
But I saw it on Twitter, and there's news stations, like, clearly reporting it because we know what it means.
But someone might be like, so what's so important about Mount Wilson?
I know, I guess, from our engineers and in our background, I think there's one of our, one of these cool little gadgets.
We have a lot of, like, cool little gadgets behind us.
That we don't know what they do.
We don't know what these buttons.
We see lights and buttons.
But they make it so that when we speak in this room, you can hear it wherever you're at, right?
And one of them says Mount Wilson.
So that's how I always knew, like, oh, we must have something out there.
And talking to our engineers, Mount Wilson is where we have our broadcast.
Entenna, tower, all of that, right?
And not just us, a lot of the TV stations, a lot of the radio stations,
even like communications between emergency personnel like police officers
sheriffs department hospitals all of that right it's all up there and the fire is there and
threatening all of these towers and I was talking to the crew like bruh if those go down yeah
we go down like and it's crazy like not even not just on a power stake like bro we're gonna lose
us like we're not we're not gonna be able to talk to L.A but
not just us, news stations, TV stations, the communications between emergency personnel,
we will feel like so crazy living out here not knowing one word.
Seriously, it means like the movies where you see they turn on the radio and they hear static
and they turn on TV and they see.
And it's really like a nightmare.
And there's, I guess there's a life cam on our tower.
You can see it.
It's pretty creepy because it's like surrounded by smoke.
Yeah.
No, it happened already to one station, to ESPN station.
They completely were off air.
Yeah.
They had to air their national broadcast because, you know, they're like ESPN national.
Yeah.
But their L.A. antenna was ruined.
Wow.
I believe some of our sister stations may also be affected too.
So if you listen to KLOS, if you listen to K-D-A, Cali, all of us kind of are on watch for these.
And I've never cared about an antenna so much since in the 90s when I had to like fix that one.
Like, just stand there, hold on, hold on, since that time.
But yeah, we're kind of like on watch for that, which is random, but just so you know.
Our boss was watching.
Yeah, because it was on the news.
Yeah, it was on the news and I know you might not care.
But it's like, why are they showing me?
This means a lot.
Yeah.
Our boss was watching the TV and you could just see the stress on his face.
Yeah.
He was like, my God, I could see the antenna right there.
Yeah.
And that boss specifically talks a lot.
So for him to be quiet as well.
It made me feel like, let's go get a bucket.
Like, let's go.
We got to figure this out.
Who's doing it?
Who's doing what?
Yeah.
No, we're all in this together.
And shout out, like, like, Maximo and the crew had mentioned, the firefighters that are coming in and helping out where they can, you know, it was just a couple of days ago where we're like, hey, does anyone have experience?
Can anyone help?
All the people that, like, our homies that called in yesterday, Jonathan, AJ, Will, and there are so many more that go out and like, we got to help our friends and let's help their neighbors while we're at it because they have these resources that you may not know you could use until.
it's time, you know?
Yeah.
So that's really tight that we're able to help each other in our own right.
And we were talking about the Kenneth fire earlier and that that group of people, right?
So apparently there was a guy that was carrying around a blow torch in Woodland Hills.
Yeah.
And the neighborhood saw it.
And then they tackled the man down until authorities came.
he's said to be a suspect in the arson of the cannon fire.
They cannot confirm any connection to the fire, but he is a suspect at this point.
So it's like a citizen's arrest.
And it reminded me of the night crawler.
That's what happened when the night crawler was.
Nightcrawler.
Why do I say night crawler is from X-Men?
I'm sorry.
He teleports.
Is night crawler a good person?
It's easy mix up.
It depends.
Oh, okay.
Nightstalker.
I apologize.
When they
They caught him
Yeah, they detained them until like
The authorities came
Yeah
Yeah, for the guy in the fire
It looked like the city
Like there was like five or six men
That kind of seen him
They surrounded him
And then they held them down to the police came
Yeah
So at least like hey you guys
You guys talk to him
Make sure something
But we're not trying to see any of this
Like
And who walks around with a blow choice?
Yeah
Yeah, exactly
You got to be detained
Gosh, all right.
Just be careful out there, y'all.
We're all in this together.
I keep saying that, I keep saying that because I'm reminding myself.
It feels crazy.
Just keep swimming.
Just keep swimming.
Yeah.
We're together.
That's how it feels right now.
Okay.
Some Bob Marley would be great at this.
It would be.
And also shout out to all the parents figuring it out with their little ones, too.
I have a horito here on the side.
He has his head on the side.
He's watching.
He's all smiling right now.
You know what?
Yesterday and the day before when my nephew came,
it's beautiful to see like the innocence of kids like they're just so happy and jolly yeah and like
they don't truly like comprehend what's going on and yeah like when max and my nephew were on the piano
and they're playing and screaming um they're playing they're playing and screaming yeah and like they were so
happy and i just looked at them in like the current state we're in and i was just like it's just like
i needed that you know to see their joy yeah to just have to just have to just have to
them like know that like how they they don't know exactly what's going on yeah you know what I'm
saying it kind of keeps you feeling like okay everything's gonna be all right for sure not this
kid I saw one of my one of my friends Instagram stories like she's trying to like distract her nephew
from like what's going on like she's keeping them entertain with games and stuff like that and just
like she doesn't want like yeah all that it's a time it's a time to like even like just stay indoors
and bond what am I doing wrong why why do you know what
going on outside, like why you don't have school?
No.
You don't know why?
No.
What were you showing me on the iPad?
Don't you show me the news all the time?
Yeah.
What's the news about?
Fire.
Yeah.
Do you want another soda?
Stop.
No, he'll bring the fire YouTube's up.
And I was like, I need to work on those preferences that I have, those restrictions that I have.
YouTube kids.
Yeah.
Yeah, he's two.
He's seven.
He feels way too old.
He's kind of want this baby videos, right?
He's a tab that you put at age seven.
He's not there.
He doesn't want seven-year-old content.
He wants 17-year-old content.
What he does want is Eminem's.
No, he does not.
Stop!
He's going to start dancing like yesterday.
Yes, but to all the parents figuring it out, and I do agree with you, the, I think one of our biggest things, too, is helping the kids maneuver through this.
you know.
This is so random, but remember Mr. Rogers?
Yeah.
I was watching a documentary on him and how, I guess, during that time, it must have been 70s, 80s, and 90s.
When stuff would go on, he would try his best to, like, with the puppets and all of that,
to help kids understand big concepts.
Yeah.
And I was like, dang, I wish we had that.
Right.
Because it's one thing to, like, kids are so smart.
We think they don't know.
They know they talk amongst themselves.
You know what I'm saying?
But it's like how to properly, I guess, discuss these things with.
Yeah.
Without scaring them.
Without scaring them.
But also in a way to keep them informed, you know?
Yeah.
Because I mean, like this is like, this is like unfortunately a historical moment in time.
You know what I'm saying?
And later on in life, they're going to be like, oh, if we don't inform them,
they're going to be like, I don't remember that happening.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's like it's kind of important to like let them know, like, hey, this is happening.
You know what I'm saying?
But we're going to be okay.
and this and that.
Yeah.
Yeah,
let us know how you talk to your kids
about it too.
We'll take those calls
coming up because I need to know
how to put it in
like,
how do I put it in like lanky box terms
or in like Robux terms?
You gotta have a streamer talk about it.
Yeah.
Oh, true.
True.
That's what they look to.
So chat,
when this goes on.
The show speed has to talk about it.
No.
Yeah.
Well, maybe.
Chat, we all got to wear a mask
outside.
Chat.
Chat, let's go
We'll buy some of your favorite.
Mass in the chat.
Mass in the chat.
Today I'm going to turn on an air purifier.
Yeah.
Crazy, crazy.
We're talking about the air quality.
Yes.
That is going to affect all of us.
Even if you feel like you're not affected by the fires or the, or we're affected by the winds, which are supposed to pick back up today and through the weekend.
Just be prepared.
Yeah.
But the air quality is going to affect all of us.
Yeah.
There's a few tips that they're saying.
to counter the bad air quality
to designate a safe room with an air purifier
and just go in that room throughout the day
also obvious try to wear N95 mask
but there's also saying to avoid sweeping
Yes avoid sweeping because what it does
is that you're just kicking the dust back in the air
and you're breathing it
if you're closer to the fire
to try to use masking tape around
the windows and like letty said earlier a towel under the doors yeah and just you know obviously
avoid going outside and avoid uh smoke exposure yeah so like seal your seal your house shut basically
yeah uh okay super dumb i'm i'm just stupid you're just a girl uh no wait what whoa whoa
i thought you were saying i'm just a girl why did you say i was a girl but they could say that
Girls can say that.
You're saying girls can't.
Yeah, girls are so smart.
And there's hell of girls that know what I'm about to tell you that I don't know.
But now we know what you think.
How you really feel.
When you just want to jump in.
Yeah, yesterday we had to call her Ruth.
Yeah, she was a firefighter.
Nice.
And she was able to do everything possible.
That's awesome for her.
Yeah.
And I bet you she knows what I'm about to say too.
What is it?
Greg with the hot takes.
I'm crazy.
I don't know what masking tape is.
Like, I know there's different types of tape.
Oh, no, why I knew you were going to say that.
Masking tape.
Oh, yeah.
Which one is the masking?
When you paint.
That is painter's tape.
Okay.
No, that's a blue tape.
That is.
He's just a girl.
His time, excuse me.
Wait, so this whole time I've been using masking tape for painting and painting
tape for masking.
Oh, God.
Which one is masking tape?
He uses gift wrapping tape to paint.
Oh, okay.
So the painter's tape.
The off white.
Yes, yes.
That one feels like it don't stick.
Yeah, it does feel like that, especially because it's like you can just rip it yourself.
What's the gray one?
That is duct tape.
You don't want to use that on your wikers.
It's not coming off.
No, you're going to rip the paint off.
But should be safe?
That is very strong tape.
You might just cut out all oxygen.
Okay, all right.
Well, the blue one?
That's painer's tape.
All right.
I know the gift wrap.
And sometimes I confuse, like, lucky during the holidays, they have the gift wrap tape and then they have the other tape that looks exactly like the packaging.
The packaging.
It's like for packaging.
Medical tape.
It's like the thing.
Yeah.
No.
What are they?
Y'all don't tell me the different tapes right now, bro.
Scotch tape, painter's tape.
But I thought scotch is the bread.
Medical tape.
No, that's what it is.
No, but scotch tape is like the gift wrapping tape.
Yeah, that's what it is.
That's what they call.
Double-sided tape.
Masking tape
Flooring tape
The brand
The brand is
Electrical tape
Electrical tape
That's like packaging tape
Painter's tape
Painter's tape
Double-sided and mounting tape
Mounting tape
I'm assuming it's like
The green one
The green scotch tape
Which scotch is the brand sir
Yeah
It says magic
tape and then there's
GIFRAP tape
And literally to me
They look like the same thing
I mean
And they both work.
Yeah.
But yeah, I've wrapped presents with like packaging tape.
Packaging tape is the best.
That's the thick one.
It's clear, but it's like the thicker one.
Damn.
I like that one too.
It's like a sticker almost.
You're making the kids go through the most.
Yeah.
Jesus.
You want the gift, right?
All right.
All right.
Well, now that was your daily info is what different types of tape do.
Yes, put masking tape.
Yes.
Which is the off white one.
Around windows and doors, or not doors,
but you can't know,
windows.
Around windows.
To help with, like, the air that could leak through.
Yeah.
That's actually pretty smart.
Very smart.
Very smart.
I would have never thought of that.
So smart.
Yeah.
Definitely just try to go visit someone in the OC.
Yeah.
Come over.
Yeah.
We can go get, um, uh, what's it called?
The inflatable mattresses, then you can sleep over.
What did that?
The thing is, I believe it.
I believe that I could literally sleep in me.
Yes.
I would assume you would have.
We fit, Letticia.
My dad doesn't end up hitting on your sisters.
No, they won't.
Sombra Sala.
In Andy, Somia.
We fit.
There's room.
There's room.
And I probably smells like cats.
It doesn't.
They're outside.
All right.
And it's, it's, so, see.
Okay, we'll be back.
We got more stuff going on.
Honestly, whatever you guys want to talk about.
We're here to talk about it.
We really want to talk about it.
We really want to talk about the.
debris that's going on outside.
Anything that you guys have to suggest for that, there's so much different branches,
different tree stuff that is all over the Pasadena area when I'm driving back here into work.
I'm just like, wow, they must have a lot ahead of them as well.
Yeah, there's trees that are blocking the roads too.
Yeah.
And kind of still, they might have moved off to the side a little bit.
There's one that's over a van that I'm seeing on Sierra Madre.
And I'm like, all right, it's just.
Has to stay there for right now.
My neighbor's a tree trimmer, and then yesterday I had like a quick conversation with him.
He was like, I'm exhausted.
It was probably one of the hardest days I've had in a long time from just like dealing with the debris and the calls of the houses and just trying to get the brush, everything.
Yeah.
So we want to show love to the people that may, we, maybe that are definitely helping us out there that we may not get the spotlight most of the time, you know?
We're doing the homies that helped today.
Yes
Usually we do the homie help
Line around this time
I wish a homie would
Take care of my kids
Is that who's making noises
In the back right there?
Yeah, sorry-thito
He's chill
You good?
All right
Yeah
He has his little croissant
His little
His iPad
He has his headphones
Yeah he's very fancy
headphones on
Yeah
Yeah
Trying my best
Just throwing things
At him
Like here
Let me work please
He's living
He's living in life right now
He's living
He's happy right now
Okay, all right
Stop playing
We stopped to do work
Maximus stop giving them sugar
Bro
Yeah
I know
I'm not giving him sugar
He tries to do that one dance
That was the dance
That was a cool dance
That was unique
I don't even think of that
That's his
He wants to be a B-boy
What's up sir
I'm on the radio right now
Anytime it's pausing
And then it goes back
Yeah
Yeah
He's saying like
It pauses the Bluetooth
Between his headphones and the iPad
So that's why we might hear the iPad
So if you hear the iPad
So if you hear the iPad, bro, it's not doing channel.
He's unrestricted on there.
I don't know what he's watching sometimes, you know.
I got to do better.
But I'm the type C parent.
I'm the just a chill guy.
Is it a cocoa melon?
We'll do it in therapy.
We'll do it in therapy.
Is he told for it?
Definitely told for that.
But we're shouting out the homies that have helped throughout this time.
Big up to Chantel in Simi Valley.
She's not on the line right now, but she didn't want to shout out the carpet cleaners.
Carpet cleaners.
She just wants to shout out the carpet clean.
I'm sure she had a reason.
But see, this is the thing.
This is where you learn.
Like, bro, they have probably really help out during this time.
You got to shout them out.
You know what I was thinking, too?
I'm like the car detailing people.
They have water tanks.
They can probably, like, help people.
True.
Nobody's getting a car wash from now.
Yeah, that's something.
Like, they have water in case, like, anything happens.
I'm a little bit not too sure.
Because I put a lot of responsibility on somebody that's just a person.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But they do have it.
A lot of those tanks are really small.
They're not huge tanks.
Yeah.
They're like really tiny tanks.
And I do know that there are, I believe I saw like dealerships and car washes.
Yeah.
That have expressed or want to help in some way because they do have like the waters.
The resources.
I pass by on my way here.
There's like a drive-through car wash on Colorado in Pasadena.
And after you do the drive-through car wash, then you can like air out your car.
Like they have the little spots where you can like get the vacuum.
Yeah.
All of that is down like because of the winds because it's Pasadena.
And I'm like, damn, what am I going to do now?
It was very easy to just get a car wash there.
But yeah, no, but like those things, like they're still going through it too.
Yeah.
I'm trying to get the carpet click.
Maybe it's because like you step outside with all the ashes and you bring them inside your house and stuff like that.
I'm wondering too.
Maybe Umberto heard before, but he's not here right now.
Maybe we can ask him.
Somebody.
Maybe somebody can ask him.
Maybe I'll print.
Umberto.
Okay.
Who do we have on the line though?
Who do we have on the line?
I just have a paper that says Chantell's when I shot the carpet cleaners.
Armando.
Armando on line 10.
What did he say?
Do you give an answer as to I?
Armando.
All right.
Armando.
Armando.
Hey, how are you guys doing?
What's up, Armando?
This is Angie's cousin.
Hi, Mambo.
The tree trimmer.
Okay.
Armando.
We know there's hell of trees all over.
everywhere. What is it like being Angie's cousin?
It's kind of hard being Angie's cousin.
Not even.
You have to deal with her cats?
He does not have to deal with my cats. He has to deal with my mom.
They fight a lot.
It's fine.
It's cool.
Okay. Armando, I'll ask the family questions in a bit.
Seriously, on a serious note, you are in the OC, but I know you get contracted to come
out this way. And I'm sure that especially right now, you're seeing a lot more like
an uptick and work of people, maybe private residences, being like,
like, hey, can you help out, well, what's going on with my trees and stuff?
Yeah, usually because they're pretty tall.
And during this time of wind, you usually tend to break off.
And that's when they get, like, pretty scared.
Like, oh, the tree's going to follow my house or the neighbor's house.
So that's when we get called down, especially, like, on slopes,
we get to clean all that brush and stuff just for this kind of type of situation
where you have to help out because you don't want a house to get on fire.
so that's why we have to clean all that brush out.
Yeah, you know, okay, so I'm one of those people.
I don't have a big tree, but my neighbor across the street has a big enough tree that if that tree falls our way, that's it, we're gone.
But I'm sure you kind of go and you'd be like, the tree is fine, you're tripping.
Like, you can tell whether a tree is good or not.
Yeah, sometimes people do get scared like out of nowhere, but, I mean, it is what it is.
At the end of the day, you don't know what to expect.
I mean, a tree can look pretty green on the outside, but once you start cutting it, you see that it's damage from the main side.
It's already right now.
I have a question.
I have a question.
Is there any way that you can like prevent a tree from catching fire, like prevent preventive measures, like I don't know, water it or anything like that, like during this time?
The only thing you can do or we advise, it's just pretty much trim it like yearly.
That way we take off a lot of weight off the tree when the wind comes.
I mean, it doesn't balance it back and forth because it's already on the top.
Yeah.
I was watching this, I was watching this viral video, right?
And it was this person that hates eucalyptus trees.
They're like, bro, I hate eucalyptus trees.
Yes, because I guess they catch fire really quickly.
And the eucalyptus oil, I guess I come from the leaves also catches fire really quickly.
Coming from like a tree troopers perspective
Do you also see that
Like wow these these are kind of hazardous trees to have around
Yeah especially you can list this
They're very
Easily catch fire because of the oil like you said
I mean they buy that
Wow let these the trickerber
Should we destroy all you?
No don't do that
No no
That's what it sounds like
You know they just smells so deep
That's what someone wants to do
Because they're like bro we didn't even bring these here
They were brought with colonization
they're not.
So let's get rid of them.
No, bro.
They also help in the shower.
Yeah, that's what they use for Vapuru.
We'll steal it and take the oil.
Eucalyptus?
Yeah, eucalyptus is so good for you.
It's really good for you.
It's really good for you. Just breathing it yourself.
Armando, are you a fan of eucalyptus trees?
Yes, or no, as a tree trimmer.
Yes, I'm a fan of eucalyptus trees.
Let's go.
Is there a tree you hate?
That's what I was going to ask him.
A tree that I hate.
Not really because that's what I leave.
That's what I make my leaving.
Oh, true.
True, true.
You love all trees.
You love all trees.
I'm a tree hugger myself.
You're a tree hugger?
Chill,
Mama,
chill.
I was going to say,
because, like,
I talked to my,
my plants.
Yeah,
yeah,
yeah, yeah.
I talk to them.
Do you, are you,
like,
do you understand,
I guess the,
oh,
this is going to get
super spiritual?
We're here.
You talk to your trees.
No,
do you also get
the connection
between trees and people?
Yeah,
that's a matter of fact,
that's why I got into this business
because I like to educate
my customers,
about trees the way that they should be trim or they should be taking care of instead of just
going out there and destroying just to make a quick buck on them.
Wow.
Wow.
Well, this is the first time I hear you talking like that.
Angie, he talks about spirituality.
So we should like rub the trees back or something like and tell it nice things.
Yo.
What?
Maybe then it wouldn't.
No.
Yeah.
You talk to your trees, letty?
I don't have a lot of trees.
Oh, it's your plants?
It's the roses and there's like this really nice tree that has flowers.
with the pink flowers.
I have a great vine.
Yeah, I talk to them.
I just say, hi, I hope you're doing good today.
Well, you got to, this is me just being extra, right?
I do feel like there's energy, and let's say I'm nice to the tree, and I have a lemon tree.
The lemon will probably be better for me when I have a lemon tea or use the lemon.
Because the tree has a bond with me.
Y'all are such haters.
No, it makes sense.
Hey, Armando, Greg is looking at me like I'm stupid.
Can you please help me and just be like, yeah.
Yeah, it does help.
be like, yes.
Yeah, it does help.
It does help.
You're out there and you start watering your plants or trees and you start talking to them.
I mean, people might think they were crazy, but that's the best therapy.
What if I call to?
Armando.
Do you do mushrooms?
Yeah, can I have some of that tree that you have?
You need to stop.
Armando, good morning.
We're going to also talk to Hernan.
Tell mushrooms you like.
Yeah.
Angie's other cousin.
Hey, Ernan.
Good morning, Eran.
To grow.
Good morning, guys. How's it going?
Amazing.
Chill with the voice.
Eric's not, because Angie knows them, like, knows them.
Are you the brother?
Are you the brother of Armando?
No.
No, we're actually cousins.
Yeah, we're cousins.
It's all family business.
So all of you are, like, tree drivers?
Yeah, my dad, too, on the weekends.
Is it?
We all kind of do the same thing.
My dad's kind of the older brother who kind of started to the trade
and kind of pushed everyone off to it, you know, like showing everyone the waste.
That's good.
That's awesome.
Family business.
Yeah, well, yeah, we kind of each have our own little companies, but I'm an ISA certified arborist.
We do work kind of all over, but I want to kind of talk about the, how we can prevent fires from trees.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I know a lot of people, I mean, are busy with work right now.
Trees are falling because of the winds.
Wind usually tend to break limbs.
off.
But, like, we need to, luckily, well, not luckily because we need the rain, but we haven't
had any rain where the soil has been moisture quite some time where they completely toppled
over.
Out in, like, San Marino, Pasadena, that's where we usually, like Altadena, that's where
we get all those heavy winds and we always get those breaks.
So, um, always coming in and removing any of the dead branches, dead debris.
Like, like you mentioned letty earlier, any trees with, um, like, like, how,
resin content like the eucalyptus trees that put out the oils I mean removing some of those I
mean those guys light up quickly so those pine trees pine trees as well the needles they have a lot
of uh little pine trees that you want to get I mean not get rid of completely but we come in and
thin out at least you know once in a while um and removing any trees away from structures that's
very important any big trees that might catch fire or yeah um spark up
I mean, that you definitely want to get rid of as well.
Random question, and there might not be a right answer to this,
but are there trees that are, I guess, more resistant to fire?
Are there trees that are like, these actually would probably be the best type of trees to have around,
especially during us where we get more fires?
Absolutely, there are.
And there are California native trees like the Taoyan tree.
It's also known as the California Holly.
and we see it all over L.A.
I mean, it has a leathery leaf, produces a little red berry,
and it's very fire-resistant.
There's also the Manzanita tree.
It's like a nice red bark tree, green flowers.
It makes it fire-assistant due to the thicker leaves as well.
So they're less susceptible to fire,
and they're able to regenerate easier, too, as well.
I wonder why we don't just.
I want that tree
Right now
I want to hug that tree
I think it takes a lot of
I know the redberry tree
Because I see it when like
You're walking
Hey what about
What about those trees
That drop that one thing
That looks like a flat tamarindo
You guys know what I'm talking about
The goo?
No
It's like green
And it looks like a
Like a green bean
People eat those
Yeah like a green bean
But it's like flat
Oh I don't
You know what your mom eats them
They go dry
I'm familiar
There's one name
the typoana tree or a teepu tree that produces a long that's about seven eight inches long and
it looks like a little like you said a tamarino yeah that tree
damn i don't know which one and those and those things are edible yes or no no no it's just
a flower that it produces oh no i know people that eat them though you do yeah he just told
a bra respectfully you have said so many tree names that i would never ever know in my life
and it's crazy that you know so many tree names,
and you're really smart.
Between, like, tree trimmers and then arbors,
you usually want to use someone that's a little bit more knowledgeable
in regards to your landscape,
because you want your trees to live.
I mean, the greener they are, the better they are,
the more property value adds to your property.
So, yeah, I mean, anything if you guys,
I mean, I know there's some trees out there affected by the fire
and some homes, a lot of homes as well.
And if anyone wants to,
go ahead and try to save any of the trees or preserve them if there's a tree that's a high importance to you.
Give us a call.
We'll be more than happy to try to go out there and preserve the trees.
So my name is Arnana, and we're with Betterment Tree Healthcare.
And again, I am an ISA certified arborist and a horticulturist.
So anything that we could do, just let us know.
All right, you're not.
Respectfully, I'm a caramando.
Angie.
The tree huger.
I would call him.
Horticorts.
I know.
He's an arborist.
He's a horticorist.
Arborist.
Whatever.
The other guy is a mushroomist.
Cote's brother.
Yeah.
Now we got to...
His brother is Temes.
Temes.
Yeah.
We got to test Angie now in her tree now.
I don't know.
So you're...
Tell me about the girl cousins.
Yeah, all of them.
Yeah.
They're in the tree tree.
Yeah.
And me, I went, bam, boom, boom, boom, I'm here.
Tell me more about the elm tree, huh?
I don't know.
I don't know about the elm tree.
They know a lot about trees, brother.
I like people that are experts at their craft.
Yeah.
Do you feel seen that way?
Respect.
Not at that one.
Yeah, Armando.
Hernando.
Ennan made me feel like, you're an idiot, don't eat that.
Yeah, you need it at Hernan.
Yeah, it made me feel like I should just pull up on trees and like hug him.
That's Armando.
That was Armando.
That's a person.
Armando.
Like, I just want to, what do you call a mumbo?
Mambo.
Me and Mambo, just going out there, haring trees.
I'm a mumbo, hugging trees.
I am mumbo.
There's your tips.
Don't.
Eucalypt is no.
That redberry one, yes.
And if you ever see Letti talking to plants in the park.
It's good because they're going to give her better lemons.
Yes, it's true.
Jessica from Santa Ana.
We have Jessica from Santa Ana.
Good morning, Jessica.
Just good.
Good morning, guys.
How are you guys?
Amazing.
Jessica, we're using the homie helpline and turning it into the homies that help right here
on KPWR, HD1, Los Angeles, Power 106.
And we want to be able to like send love to people that are actually.
actually out there helping others, definitely affected by fire.
And I see right here that your in-laws, they are from Al-Sadena, and they definitely have been
affected.
Can you talk to me more about that?
So it's my in-laws are the one that are helping, she's helping her sister that lost her
house in Al-Sadena.
It was her sister and her two girls.
They lost her house out there.
And my mother is the one that's housing them right now here in Orange County, you know,
and it sucks because these girls, they just redid their roots.
the way they wanted it to and, you know, seeing their face.
We went over on, when was it, Tuesday night, I think.
And we, you know, I got them like a hairdryer, like little girl things, you know,
because guys don't think about that.
So I gave them like a hair dryer, PJs.
And we went over and we took pizza and stuff.
But it's just like the look on their face, it's like, what can you do?
You know, it's like, yeah, we're all together and stuff.
But you can't just say, hey, it's material stuff because it is material stuff.
But it means a lot.
So it's really sad.
It's really, really sad.
And so my mother-in-law is the one that has them here in Sanana, and they're sleeping with them.
But it's just like we're trying to give them all we can.
And we're not, you know, out in the front lines or anything, but we're still supporting them and trying to be there for them the way we can, you know.
It's really sad.
It sucks.
Yeah, it sucks.
But I'm glad your mother-in-law is there to help out.
And that's really, that's really amazing that you would call in and shout-out your mother-in-law.
That shows me that you guys have a great relationship.
Because a lot of people don't.
I'm a butt.
Jessica!
Jessica, you had it.
You were out to something, Jessica.
Jessica.
Shout out of her for helping her sister.
She kicked me out of the house, but it should have hurt.
I wouldn't say all that, dog.
You're so cute.
I love you.
Honestly, that makes the gesture even nicer.
Because you're like...
Yeah, no for real. She loves them, man.
I used to think there was no love in that.
heart, but clearly there is. Just not for me.
Hey, you said it, not me.
Jessica. Just as real as hell.
Jessica, do you want to van and tell us what happened?
My man made me call in.
Another time. Another time. Another time. Another time, Angie. Don't put him in a spot like that.
Oh, okay, okay, okay. I appreciate you. Jessica, you made my morning.
You have a good little mama-a-old.
I love you guys. I love you guys. I listen to you guys every morning and you know you
guys make my day. And when the homie joker calls in, I'm like, always your stream,
was screen recording it and sending it to my sister's like, hey, look at this homie.
Don't tell him.
He's already trying to get pet pals out here.
He's going to find you.
He's going to want some J-pay money.
I'm down.
I'm down.
You have a father-in-law.
That means you have a man.
Oh, wait, that's right.
Oh, wait, that's right.
Jessica, bye, bye, bye.
Jessica, bye, bye, Jessica.
That's our first homie-help line when we come back doing the homey help.
Jessica is reckless.
Oh, my gosh.
Gosh, I love her.
She's a...
She's a...
Diva.
Yeah.
Like the homie David was.
Imagine you see someone that like, really like you don't get along with
they're doing something nice.
That's really...
That's Casalee.
Yeah.
It's rehearsed gas ladies.
No, it's just, yeah, it's crazy.
All right.
Andrew.
Oh my gosh, she was crazy.
Andrew.
Andrew.
Good morning.
Andrew from Whittier.
Good morning.
I was me bugging you guys again.
How y'all doing?
Oh, what's up, bro?
A group.
He was once part of the in a fire camp.
and help the inmates, right?
And you help train them.
Yeah, you know, I'm calling because I wanted to let you know.
After I got off of work yesterday, the traffic got really bad in going into L.A.,
and literally I saw two prison fire camp, they call them buses,
but they're different fire trucks so that they can carry like 12 guys in the back.
I saw them being escorted on the freeway coming up and, like, pulling traffic.
They come all the way from have them.
They're all out of the way.
You went out, bro.
Bro, you went out?
They come all away from where?
From San Diego.
Oh, yeah, from San Diego.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Man.
On the freeway, I guess they time it, and they know what time they're going to hit traffic and stuff like that.
So they brought a police escort from the camp, and they were just, like, moving people, like, during traffic hour.
I was like, man, that's right.
Move out for the homies because they're coming to save the date.
Yeah, no, I love that.
I love seeing that, and I saw, like, especially after having talked to you guys yesterday
and the other callers that called in
about being formerly incarcerated
and also had experience with the fire camp
seeing that I think it's 800, 800 firefighters.
I think that was the post that you shared, Angelica,
800 firefighters that are part of fire camp.
So inmates incarcerated Angelinos
and clearly not just Angelinos from San Diego,
from all over that are coming to also help fight the fires.
So yeah, definitely our love to them.
And it's crazy.
You could tell that it was those,
Is it the buses?
Is it like the ones that we know?
They're not buses.
Okay.
I'm sorry, I set you off.
No, no, no, no.
It's okay.
Wow.
What are you going?
Yeah, there's their buses, and they get in the back,
and then they don't have much to do because they're not driving or anything like that.
But it's a long trip, but like they'll go on trips for like six, seven hours sometimes
because they got to go.
Their little trick is they'll send you from Northern California to Southern California.
These guys will probably continue on after this because this is technically a fire season because
we're so dry during, during the winter.
So you'll see this fire season pretty much all year long,
and the winds are what pick up this dry rug.
So they're probably after this going to continue on up the state.
You are part of fire camp, right?
Yeah, yeah, I was a trainer.
I didn't go out on the field.
They always came back to me, and I re-geared them up, fixed their tools.
Okay, so you trained them, but you never went out?
No, I stayed in.
I'm what they call in-camp, so every time, like, a truck breaks down.
Oh, yes, yes.
Ruth was telling us about that.
But how do you learn to even train them to begin with?
So you at first went out.
They have two different sections.
They have the fire rules section, which is like the actual educational side.
You have to learn about like how to handle yourself on the field.
I didn't do with that.
I taught them how to, I was basically a personal trainer for all those guys.
I probably trained like over a thousand guys that have to learn how to hold themselves up on a pull-up bar for an hour.
Yeah.
Okay, so you physically train them.
You physically train them.
Oh, God.
Not it, okay.
So are you...
Tight, tight, tight, tight.
That's amazing.
Yeah, but I don't see them.
I mean, you know, just like after us talking about them, I mean, they're not going to get very much focus on this.
You know, it's 800 compared to.
I'm sure thousands of other ones, but like the guy said, they get paid a buck a day.
Yeah.
Man.
And then they get, like, a little bit more if they go over, like, 24 hours if they're gone for, like.
But it's just much appreciated because, I mean, yes, they're not necessarily, like,
able to choose to go there but when they're there they're doing what they're doing and you know
they're making the best of it and trying to actually help people out whether we like it or think
about it like that or not yeah man thank you and thank you andrew uh Emily we got Emily in
South Central Emily good morning we're talking about uh shouting out people that we've seen kind of put in
work throughout these days we had Angie's Angie's uh cousins the tree trimmers out there helping
clear debris or if you feel like dang I think this
This tree's going to fall on me.
Angie's cousin, Armando, will go and hug it, and it will no longer fall on you.
He'll talk to the tree.
Bro, I'm right there with him.
Stay there.
That's my guy right there.
My boy.
Emily from South Central, you want to shout out your, one of your friends?
No, hi, good morning.
Hi.
Good morning.
Yeah, I was calling in.
I wanted to shout out my sister, Crystal.
She worked for LATWP, and I've been texting her.
She's not even official full-time yet, but she's in training,
and she's taking in the calls for all these people that have lost their homes
and calling in to cancel their power.
And I know she's a very emotional person,
and I know it's taking a toll on her, but she's doing a really good job.
You too, I can hear it in your voice.
I know that you're being there for her, but it affects you, too.
I feel like you guys are empaths.
You guys are, yeah.
We are.
Yeah?
My brother-in-law calls us.
Cause us less chill.
I couldn't.
You're like on the brink of crying for a shout-out.
No, but.
No, that's a tough job for sure.
That must be so tough.
Yeah.
I've been hearing our, like, reading online that, like, people are going to,
to neighborhoods and checking for addresses.
So they're like, hey, if you have an address that you want us to check on to see if your home is still,
there let us know send it to us and we'll let you know and it's like they're working together and then
you know then if unfortunately if they've lost their house they have to call you know you said like yeah she has to
hear all this so they don't have they be billed yeah i'm sure you know people are calling in they have to
give a reason and then they probably goes into them just kind of you know spilling out their emotions
she probably want to listen to it yeah Emily Emily um yeah and your sister's just in training
like this is yeah she's she's in training well she's been
doing a probation time probation period and in the upcoming weeks she will be a bill to
lead to w t so it's it's been a struggle uh this whole time and yeah so i'm happy for her yeah what a
time to start on the job yeah when they've probably not seen this type of uh i guess an event ever
you know um yeah what what's something that she's told you that like you're like dang this is wild
Well, she's told me that it's other people from other parts of the LA that haven't, that have not been affected by the fire, are calling and being, you know, not kind and, you know, stressing out over something minimal when there's people that have lost their homes and they're going through a lot.
And she must see it.
I think we're all, we've all spoken about that too.
It's kind of like now's not the time to be.
Yeah.
Trying to do funny business.
Not kind.
Or just calling in and like, you guys need to hear it.
And everyone's pointing fingers at who's doing what wrong.
So we're all going through this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Man.
But I didn't even think of that.
Like, not only do you have to worry about like my house just burned down.
Hold on.
I have to call all these companies so they could stop billion.
Even just knowing that like that protocol is like this crazy.
All these people are finding out a protocol for what to do when your house burns down.
You know what I'm saying?
it's like probably a checklist that's like super hard yeah you know what I'm saying to get through
like where do you even start at exactly yeah um I called Clarna carna is not no I did though I'm
I want to tell you it does work so as far as like if you what Angie no what is that you know what
clara it's the pay it's how I got the tickets to go to the Dodgers game five yeah okay okay
take my dad that's what I thought about making sure okay I'm pay for it for seven years but I'm like yeah
But because it has been called a national emergency and a state emergency, yeah.
If you have bills like that and payments like that and we're stressed of how we're going to pay the next thing and we got to buy up hell of air filters or masks or water or like evacuate to somebody else to somewhere else, they have these things in place to where if you were, if you want to, excuse me,
extend your payment you can so definitely take advantage of those things probably maybe for car payments
you can do stuff like that i believe apple apple pay like if you have the apple card has also said
hey because of what it's been declared should you not be in good standing call up we'll see if we can
do something about things of that nature so i guess money is really tight right now and you don't know
how tight money is until there's an emergency yeah and yes there are people that have money say
the way for rainy days or emergencies,
but then there's some people that don't even have the luxury to do that.
Yeah.
So definitely take advantage of, I guess, this moment to be able to see where you can get that leniency.
You know?
Yeah.
You know what this also put in perspective for me?
It's like, dude, all these possessions, all the clothes, all this stuff.
I'm like, dude, none of this matters.
Like, I know it's like super cute.
But like, I really was just like, dude, I don't really care.
As long as I got a couple fits, like, and I'm good.
When you were thinking of what to take out of your home because you've evacuated.
Exactly.
I was just like, dude, honestly, like, you know, if I was, if I didn't have any of this other stuff tomorrow, I'd be fine because my son is good and I'm good and my family's all healthy.
But you have a lot of underwear.
I, oh, I need hell of underwear.
Yeah, I'm going to go back and get some more today.
You ran out already?
No, you just never have enough.
Yeah, that's true.
Yeah, that's the only necessary thing for sure.
And socks.
I love socks.
So I love to all the people that are calling in that have someone.
that they definitely want to recognize right here on Power 106.
You can still do that.
We're taking calls 818-5-2059.
Tell us about the homies that are helping throughout this time.
Often and clearly, and of course, as we should,
we show love to the authorities, firemen, everybody that's out there.
But again, there's also people like the tree tremors.
There's also people like the people that work at L.A.DWP.
I always mix those words up.
Let's show them love to.
And like baby girl's suegra.
Jessica Soagra that will take in other people, but I'm not sure.
Got an attitude problem.
I wouldn't say all that.
I like her a lot.
Yeah, she was awesome.
I want to say me and her have a great relationship.
I think that things she's doing for her sister is pretty tight.
We are in this together.
We are together.
I know that's like my go-to thing, but we're in this together for.
Are we not?
Yes.
We're all in this together.
Okay.
We want to give shoutouts and show love to people that are definitely out there helping throughout this time.
The weather is horrible.
The air quality sucks.
We can all feel the symptoms.
Like I feel like I can't laugh too hard or my head just like starts throbbing.
Yeah.
People are getting sick.
Sinuses.
If you have allergies, all that.
And that's just the air quality, let alone people clearly affected by fires.
and the destruction that the wind has caused this past week.
But we want to show love too, okay?
So we have Jaime in Rialto.
Jaime, good morning, Jaime.
Hey, bro, I don't know how about what's going on?
I don't know, hi.
I don't know, hi, bro.
What are you doing?
A lot of going on, Jaime.
For real.
Hey, so I want to give a shout out to all the gardeners out there.
All the nonskippers.
Put in and work every day.
Yeah.
That's right.
I still see them out there.
Like I still, and granted, they know what it's like.
like to have to deal with this stuff because it's constant for them.
Like they're always wearing masks, goggles because of what they have to do on their day-to-day.
But now it's tenfold with the air quality.
Like just seeing people outside in the area that I'm in, I'm like, people should not be outside.
Yeah, you see people's gardeners out there, helping with the debris because that's all we got right now.
There's going to be a lot of ashes everywhere.
It's a lot more to clean up.
everybody's job, you know, that does gardening and landscaping is going to be much tougher.
Yeah.
Especially for the breathing part.
When you're getting tired and stuff like that and you start to breathe deeper.
Yep.
You're inhaling all that.
Absolutely.
We got Aaron in Fontana.
Aaron.
Aaron, what's up, Aaron?
Aaron.
Hey, good morning, brown, bad.
What's up?
Good morning.
Hey, Aaron.
Likewise, Aaron, I know Fontana gets really, really crazy wins.
And I hope that you're doing good as well.
Oh yeah, thank you. I appreciate that.
But yeah, I just call him to give a shout out, man, to all the first responders, firefighters,
and then I'm a truck driver.
So I want to shout out to truck drivers because we're still out here on these roads
trying to drop off material equipment to help bulldoze these, you know, the debris on the road.
And then, you know, we're dropping off groceries to the local stores as well, you know.
So my fellow truck drivers out there, man, be saved.
These wins are no joke, man.
and, you know, we're all just trying to stay safe.
Do you have to be, like, more cautious and drive slower since you're in a big truck
and the winds are really bad?
Yeah, bro, when it's empty, we're more prone to tipping over when we're empty loads.
So, I mean, at that point, man, you know what I mean?
Slow and steady wind phase.
If you see a truck are going fast, honk out that asshole and tell, I'm, excuse my language.
But how that dude, slow down, bro.
It's not worse it, man.
We all have families, and, you know, if that thing, if you guys are caught in between the truck
and it tips over, you're not winning that one, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah, I think I've seen a video I'm not.
probably Wednesday of just like somebody driving on a highway and seeing like six or seven trucks flipped over.
And then I saw other trucks kind of going off to the side and being next to each other so they don't tip over.
Is that like typical?
Like people just get off the road together.
Like are you guys communicating?
I mean, that would help combat the win.
I would imagine.
I have never been like, no one ever told me like, hey, you know, this is how you combat the win.
but I mean, I've been in this game for six years.
They've been truckers been doing this longer than me,
so they might know a little trick of the trade that I don't,
but, you know, slow and steady wins the race.
That's what I've always taught,
and, man, I just want everyone to be safe because this is crazy, man.
And Newsom, I just want to know why there's no water in that water
on the water fire cures, you know?
Yeah, the fire, what is it called?
The hydrants.
I read that there is, I read that there was water,
but it was just the water pressure.
No pressure.
So I think all of that too, bro, it's like we got to figure out what's real, what's not, what's in our brain, what we're like letting, I guess, influence us.
Yeah.
Because just like I'll see like a thing pop up, I'll see like the.
Yeah.
Dispelling of it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
For sure.
But for sure, shout out the truck yarders.
Yes.
100%.
Delivering.
Delivering.
Still out there.
Yeah.
Working.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Aaron, do you guys, is this short?
Like, do you guys like walkie talk each other?
Like if there's a truck and.
front of you, can you talk to that truck?
If you have a CB radio, then yeah, we can communicate with each other, you know?
Oh, I...
Is there cool stuff you could tell each other?
Like, do you guys tell jokes or...
I'm assuming, like, especially during, like, the long night drives where you're always falling asleep where you're like...
Are you in a truck right now?
Yeah, long haul for sure.
Yeah, I'm in my truck right now, bro.
Can you hunk?
Yeah.
Dude, no, I can.
Give me one moment.
This guy might get scared, but oh, well.
Oh, well.
Hey!
That's a big 10-4.
That guy is scared.
The guy in front of him, he's like,
what did I do?
Hey, but Brownback, I hope you guys stay safe out there.
Your air quality, you guys breathe good.
And, you know, shout out to all the first responders, man.
Let's pull this together, man.
Let's pull this together, man.
This humanity first, bro.
That's right.
Thank you, Aaron.
Shout out to you and your two families.
Thank you, ma'am.
Hey, and stay behind that car.
If you go in front of it, it's going to do the,
How's my driving.
It's going to look for that number.
Oh, true.
He's like, uh, this man honked at me.
And I didn't do anything.
One more question.
Two.
What's her out?
Which family are you going home to today?
We have to,
we have to say while I took this year because behind their back.
That's what I said it.
That's what I said it.
Okay, we have like inside joke probably because of my uncles and whatever.
My uncle.
Yeah, her uncle too.
That they have two, truck drivers have two families.
Oh, nah, man.
That ain't true.
I mean, some may I have met people, you know, because, you know, they're on the road.
But, nah, no, it's easy.
Shout out to my baby girl, Nancy.
I know she's listening.
Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay.
You don't want to get one more shout out?
Yeah.
Just kidding.
Just kidding.
Yeah, you dumb.
Yeah.
Just get in there and just kidding.
No, the economy's crazy.
You can't have two families tomorrow.
Shout out Nancy.
His one and only, okay?
They're not both lame Nancy to be smart.
It's just one.
That was named Nancy.
Shout out there.
He's not going to call anyone.
You know what you guys did?
We talk about truck.
We talk about truck.
That's all the time.
That's true.
He's a good guy, though.
He strikes me as a one family kind of guy.
Yeah, me too.
All right.
We have Sergio and Pasadena.
Sergio, what's so, Sergio?
What's good?
Good morning.
Y'all.
Good morning.
Hey, Sergio.
Are you from Pasadena?
Yeah, I am.
I am.
I'm born and raised.
Okay, because you sound as mucusy as I sound because the air sucks.
Oh, it's horrible.
You sound congested, brother.
But it's fine because so do we.
But the air is really bad, you guys.
It's scaring me for people.
But you have a shout out, bro.
Yeah, I have a shout out to Waterboy Services.
My boy, Edgar, he's a business owner right there at the heart of Pasadena,
right under where all the evacuation is going on, actually.
and he's been doing a little event trying to pass out water and stuff to the people in the area of the community trying to help out with whatever he can
So in case anybody's in the area needs water go to water boys services and he will help you out he'll be glad to help you out
Water Boy Services what does it do besides like what is what he's doing right now he's a it's a water service it's a
Yeah it's a water service but he's always helped the community with the home he gets us homies to help out too passing out like turkey for Thanksgiving you know
toy drives and stuff in the speed.
So he's been trying to gather up a lot of people.
Even the homies, he's been getting us to, you know, just try to help out with whatever we can.
Like me and my best friend, his sister's house, was actually burned in Alta Dina too.
So, yeah, me and him went over there.
We were just cruising around yesterday, handing out water, masks, helping people move stuff if they needed to.
That's amazing, bro.
I appreciate you doing that.
Yeah, I appreciate you doing that.
I hope you're wearing a mask, bro.
I hope you are.
which are
property
is that you're
back
if you know
no no you're good
no you're good you're good
hey don't park there
bro
yeah
no
not
no
he's so cute
because they're still
parking tickets
unfortunately
yeah I saw that
in some areas
honestly
honestly I heard
there was
eyes picking up
people at food
for less
in Pasadena
too
that night
in Pasadena
Oh my God
yeah
yeah
it's tragic
do not let this time
and again
it's a horrible
times for us to be in.
Yeah.
Just adding on top of that is crazy.
Sergio, do you guys have like an Instagram or does your
homie have an Instagram? Waterboy services?
My homie does have an Instagram, but I don't have Instagram.
If anything, if you guys did just talk to me, I can have all his info in like 20 minutes.
Sergio, why don't you have a red flag?
I mean, why don't you have an Instagram?
Why don't not have an Instagram?
Yeah.
Oh, it's too much drama
Oh
Is your homie on a fair on North Fair Oaks Ave?
Yeah, North Fair Oaks Ave right next to Lopin.
So water boy services.
Nice, that's the Instagram.
Yeah.
Yeah, if you need water, help in that area.
He got you.
They got you.
What do you use Instagram for, bro?
We also got Nina in Long Beach on the line.
Nina, good morning.
We're moving the homie help line to be the homies that helped.
And we are getting your shout-outs.
Nina, good morning.
Good morning, Brown Bag.
Hi.
Hi.
Hi, this is Nina.
Homegirls at Roll.
Hey.
There's a go, Nina.
My low-writer, Homegirl.
That's right.
Yeah.
Homegirls that will come down.
I want to give a shout out.
My girlfriend, one of the homegirls, Sandy Linanehires.
Two of her boys are out there.
They're fighter fighters.
Jude and Nando Linares, you know.
Wow.
So they're out there fighting the fires.
I'm sure if that's,
your home girl's kids?
Yes,
that's,
her two boys.
I'm sure she's super, like, concerned.
Yeah.
How is she dealing with her, you know,
kids being on the front line?
She's concerned.
You know,
of course,
her baby's out there.
Those are her boys.
You know,
concern for the families,
concerned for her boys.
It's heartbreaking,
you know.
But also would like to mention
our home girl butterflies
from the home girl's that role.
She's collecting things.
She has their organization that she's collecting blankets, food, clothes, whatever you have.
Butterfly kisses.
You can also go into the Homegirls.
That's her Instagram?
Yeah, like kisses.
Wow, she got that?
That's tight.
Butterfly kisses fire.
Yeah.
You know, we're trying to do our part.
There goes Greg.
You know, hit us up, let us know, and we'll connect you with butterfly.
And she's going out there.
She's going to go drop all that stuff.
out there, okay?
That's amazing
on butterfly.
Why do you guys
call her a butterfly?
Because she's as beautiful
as a butterfly.
Oh.
She is beautiful.
You guys got to check her out.
I love the home girls
that roll.
They're a all-girl car club
in Long Beach.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Horses, cars,
rollerblades, skates,
whatever,
bikes, you come out.
You can ride with us.
But right now, you know,
we got to look out
for everybody.
and they need us.
And if you, you know, you have it in your heart, reach out, you know.
We're going to reach out.
Greg's already reaching out to the butterfly kisses.
I don't know if she is to donate clothes.
It might be to donate something else.
A couple different organ donors out there.
Yeah.
Does she go by Lupy's?
I don't, hold on, let me ask.
I don't even remember which.
Nina?
Nina.
Yeah.
Yes.
Does she go by Lupy's?
No, no.
Butterfly kisses.
Let me give you her.
actual
homo
Oh yeah
there's
Okay
Alright
We'll get you
We'll get you
We'll get it off
Bro Greg is very
Nice
Like yeah
Go ahead
Good girl
Hey
Sambra salaf
With that
I'm gonna make this kid
A bored up
Can we like
You are
My son
He just took like
Five Abipopovins
Right now
Maxima
Maximum
Don't take
5
MD's
Why would you
Take that many
That's a thousand
milligrams
Will be fine
I know
Yeah
I honestly
I'm
Honestly
I'm
I'm
I'm
I'm not gonna bring
on air
When we do
Offer
I was not
going to bring that on there because I was not going to
perpetuate any of the
not reading the label-ness
but these fools don't read the label
I didn't. There's no need to. I feel really
like, bro, I feel like I have a headache.
I feel like congested. I feel like I'm going to faint.
I feel like all these things, right? And I'm coming out
the San Gabriel Valley that the air
quality sexually bad, but I'm still
here for work because I want to be a team player.
Oh, let's
and I'm telling the crew, like
I can't even like Ramona's talking to me.
I'm like, I can't
Just straight, huh?
Yeah.
And then I have baby boy here in my seven-year-old.
He's literally right.
Right in your face.
Hi.
Yeah, he's right here.
He's not in your face.
Yeah.
And I'm trying to make sure he's good.
Yeah.
But who's trying to check up on let things like she's good.
Yeah, who's checking up on the strong friend.
Are you okay?
So Greg's like, hey, you want some IV profile?
I would like some.
And then so I'm reading like the label to see what the directions are to see how many to take.
And the guys are like, it's 200 milligrams.
Just take like three.
I'm like, bro, what?
I said to two.
Why not?
No, three.
And bake was like take five.
No, I didn't say take three.
No, Maximil said take five.
Take five.
Even if you took five, it wouldn't be that big a deal.
No, it's not a big of a deal.
That is 200 MGs.
That's like, that's a thousand?
That's a light day.
That is a lot.
Y'all really don't get headaches and have stress.
Y'all not about this life.
Listen.
Look, a thousand to start.
Listen, man.
Are empty what?
Outside of the U.S.
By the way, this is all entertainment.
Please don't take any of our stuff for like.
People go to TJ to get medicine.
Yeah.
Everything over there has about 200 milligrams extra per medicine.
Now you're adding in.
Do not exceed six tablets.
That's what I'm saying.
Five.
That's why they're five.
They don't know, bro.
They don't really got stressed.
Exceed.
What?
In one day.
Yeah.
That's fine.
Take one tablet every four to six hours if pain or fever.
One.
I will take one tablet.
I take that much vitamin C.
Her fever does not respond to one tablet, two tablets may be used.
Yes.
Not more than six because they're counting the hours.
Like if you take every four to six, every 24, you should have.
You guys hit me when I'm headache-free.
The FDA don't want me to be great.
Yeah.
Stop.
Yeah, they do.
You know what they don't want?
You know what they don't want?
You don't have thin-ass blood.
That's a blood-thinner, dog.
It's supposed to be thick or what?
I hate you guys so much
For being so unsmart
We are not being responsible right now
It's the headache that we all have
Yes, but it goes by body weight
It goes by
I've never seen somebody take five
Me neither I'm really surprised
My mom, for real, for real took five
But it didn't take six
Yeah because I do not exceed six
I know it's not good
But we're pumping blood throughout
Do you even have a headache?
Yeah, I do
Oh, okay.
You just took it just to take it?
I believe it.
But honestly, when Letti was taking him,
Samantha Ho.
Like, pass a moment.
Pain relief?
Yeah.
Oh, I got a lot of pain.
Release some.
Honestly, I thought the same thing, too.
I'm like, well, if she took it,
I should probably take it too,
because I have a headache.
I don't have a headache now, but it might come later.
Yeah, and so then I'm like, okay,
here, Maximo, take one pass it down,
and that's when he took five.
Oh, my God.
To start.
This is not.
Not by any way, shape, or form a recommendation.
It's like, I blame you because I was not going to bring this up, but here you go.
But that's not normal.
It's not normal.
But now all the fools that are like, Maximo, are like, yeah.
There's people that are like, oh, I could take five.
Yeah, don't take five.
Don't take five.
Don't take any advice from her.
Do you know the definition that are recommended?
What?
I don't know.
Why are you asking?
Of course leave.
What was that?
A suggestion.
It means a suggestion.
Yes.
They suggest it.
By an expert.
Not by useful for bad eyes.
There's plastic bottles not an expert.
The person that wrote it that came up with that pill is.
And you are?
An expert.
Because I actually deal with it.
On your own, your own body.
You can only speak for your own body.
Very true.
Yes.
I agree.
Sombra Sala.
Hold on.
Let me redo this.
Sambra Sala.
With Angie.
Okay, so clearly we're all been affected by the fires, you know?
Yes.
Including some celebrities, including, like, Perez Hilton, she actually, she posted on her
Instagram saying that she noticed that her house was on fire because of the TV, that she
saw, like, on news, that her house, her house was on fire.
So she was, she made a whole message saying, like, I never thought I was ever going
to see my house on fire and finding out this way.
Like, I hope no one ever finds out this way either.
Maybe she wasn't in town or something?
I don't think so.
Yeah.
Then Mel Gibson was on a podcast
Was on the Joe Rogan podcast
Talking about that
And then he was like
Yeah I just went and did the podcast
And kind of knew like
Oh my mom
I should check out my house
And then after the podcast
He saw that his house was on fire
Damn
Where was there
Where was Paris Hilton's house?
Was that?
I believe Malibu
Yeah yeah
Malibu
Wow
And then Janaya Aiko
She actually did make a post
As well saying that
She's like
Me and my children's home
Is gone
Burn to the ground
With all of our things
Inside
Lord have
mercy thankfully we still have each other starting from scratch my heart is so heavy yeah that is
devastating i'm sorry i know also like j j j jay the coach of the lakers j j jraddick lost his home
kawai had left on the team in order to to he evacuated he left the clippers and went with the
family so we don't know like yeah what is going on there but i know a lot of people are
doing that sucks yeah for j jay like in the middle of the season you know what i'm saying it's already
tough, you know, living out of a suitcase and traveling to, you know, different towns and
trying to focus and stuff like that. It's like, then like his family being displaced and then
having to deal with all the stuff he lost or whatever, that sucks. Even in the La Cagnada area,
I remember being like, bro, I know Tony's house is over there. Because when he first moved
out here, when he first got the house, it was big news. You're so much that he hadn't moved in.
Because he's like, people know too much. They're going to, yeah, I want my privacy. But he still,
it still belongs to him
he hasn't been able to sell it
and I know it's in that line
of that fire over there
Freddie Freeman has a crib in Studio City
so I'm wondering about his
yeah too
and then also
we're like random celebrity
that we're like
hey what is our cousin doing
I know the winner of the lottery
Edwin he's from Altadena
he won the like two was it
$2 billion?
Three I think it was like $3
it was a lot
I think I think I'm
I think it might have been $2.something billion
was one of the biggest.
Edwin Castro.
Edwin Castro, the homie.
Yeah.
Two billion.
Yeah.
From Altadena area.
And we're like, wait, is he okay?
But no, he, no.
Well, he is, but he lost his home in Malibu.
Oh, not in the Alta Dina?
No, not in the Altadena, but our prima deluxe his house.
Then, Kit Cuddy.
He lost his house?
Yeah.
Wow.
Dang.
Kid Cuddy, he also said that he had to evacuate from his house, but he says that he is safe.
and then he's sending prayers to everyone that's been evacuated.
Jamie Lee Curtis, I don't know if you guys know her.
I know her from like bringing Friday.
Yeah.
She's a legend.
Yeah.
I know that she had concerns about her house.
Halloween.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She had concerns from her house and then she finally saw that, okay, her house is safe.
But I've seen like she's the only celebrity that I've seen that she's pledging
a million dollars towards the L.A.
L.A. Fire Relief.
So, props to Jamie Lee Crates on doing that.
I think a lot of times when it comes to celebrities, losing their homes, people are like,
well, you just buy another one.
That's pretty.
And Jenae was going back and forth with people like, bro, don't get it confused.
Like, I'm not rich.
And I think she said, I'm not Paris Hilton Ridge, which is then comparing another.
Yeah.
I don't know that that type of money.
But it's like, this is not the time to be like.
Pocket watching.
Yeah.
And so like, I don't care because they're rich.
And it's like, dog, that's still.
They're still.
It's honestly still a natural disaster going on.
Like, it's still fire.
I don't think you get rich enough to not be afraid of fire or what the fire can.
And they also are losing probably photos and memories that they will never be able to recover.
And I get it.
Like they will be able to, in a sense, financially recover.
But there's still that emotion, that connection that.
And even like if they have kids, like explaining to your kids that situation.
Yeah.
Like there's a lot that goes on.
We can go back to her home because it brings down.
It's all scale, right?
Because it's like, okay, if you have, you know, a couple thousand in your bank,
but you lose $200 in your wallet,
still gonna be affected.
Yeah.
It's still gonna be like, damn,
I lost $200, man.
Like, doesn't that ruin your day?
You know what I'm saying?
It's like these people, yes, they might have, you know,
maybe a million dollars, two million in the bank.
But it's like they lost their home worth a million dollars.
Like that, you know what I'm saying?
It's like, it's still a lot.
I pray I never lose empathy for people beyond, like,
that's just, it's very cynical.
Very, very much so.
And Jeney's an L.A.B.
Like, you don't know that.
Like, don't, it's a lot.
Edwin, too, bro.
I'm so sorry.
My cousin.
Our cousin, Latina is a cousin.
Pobresito.
He lost his house from Malibu.
I lost my team.
Totally, this is not meant to be a joke at all.
And it's not funny at all.
But when it comes to Paris Hilton,
I wonder if she could just go to, like, a Hilton.
I thought about that.
You know what I'm saying?
I was not like, but it's not to be the pun because that's her last name.
But, like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's something.
You know what I'm sure she could.
I'm sure she could.
Yeah.
No, it's crazy.
And you know what?
I started to think even further.
It's like, imagine what the renting, you know,
scenario is going to be like going forward here in L.A.
Because now there's going to be a shortage of homes if over a thousand homes are lost.
Now you've got to think about the rent is about to go sky high because everybody wants to move in somewhere fast and quick while their homes are being rebuilt.
So it's going to affect every single one of us.
You know, and even for the people that have lost their homes, not celebrity or not, I know we're talking about this.
and it's been all over the news lately about how insurance companies had not reinstated coverage.
Like last year, a lot of them started pulling out or like changing and switching up their coverage for people's homes.
And I don't have it on me.
I have it, yeah.
So last night, California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara issued a mandatory one-year moratorium protecting homeowners insurance coverage in the affected areas of the Palisades and Eden fires.
Yeah, so the help is here.
I know a lot of like the first couple days were like, dang, somebody please help us.
Like what is all, and all we saw were the negatives and negatives.
And I'm seeing, okay, now they're stepping in.
I know Biden also said that the relief is going to be 100% covered by the federal government.
So that while it's still stressful out here, the air quality still sucks.
It allows for you to kind of, I guess, breathe easier on that front.
When we're seeing people cry in front of their homes, like what am I going to do and the insurance and all of that?
Yeah.
So it said the moratorium.
Corium is going to prohibit insurance companies from enacting non-renewals and cancellations until January 7th, 2026.
That's a whole year that, you know, they're able to not cancel.
And, you know, I was reading that back in 2022, all state, state farm, other insurance companies were canceling and non-renewing
coverages for people.
We had talked about it.
I remember, and even on the car front, it's getting harder and harder to get insurance.
Yeah.
So if they were in a fire, you know, you know, area, a fire potential.
potentially area like they were non-renewing yeah as soon as it would come up they'll be like oh sorry we're
not going to renew you and stuff like that and so you know this at least is providing some relief for
some of the people that you know potentially would not get their their insurance renewed yeah they're
non-renewing people that were in these zones that were like the potential the high risk and they're
also non-renewing people that had the same policy from years ago so if someone had that policy for
like 30 years, their payment was so low so that by this time ended up, you know, not making
sense for them.
It defeats the entire purpose.
Yeah.
I do wish them all the best and I hope everything works out for them.
But that's it for Sondra Salat brought to you by your local Southern California to go to dealers.
I'm Angie from Brownback Mornings on Par 106.
Here we go!
Sorry, I put you on the game.
Sorry.
I'm sorry.
No, no, no, no, this one, this one, this is it.
connected like I'm rosecrans.
Rooscrans.
The word on Rosecrans.
The word is, it's ironic that you hit the game button because the game has offered to pay
Airbnb costs for families displaced by L.A. fires.
He went to Instagram and said, me and at Trav for the Stars are helping 10 families affected
by the fires here get into an Airbnb for a week free of charge.
Man, that's amazing.
Big ups to him.
Yeah.
And it takes something.
I guess, not that they need to, I'm wondering, there's so many, there's so many L.A. figures out here.
And often they're quiet and because it's like, damn, they're dealing with real life, you know.
But to see one step out and be like, hey, I'm here to help.
Yeah, this is what I want to do to help out people.
Like, you can't but appreciate that.
Of course.
People are like figures in the community.
And him, you know, from what I remember about watching interviews,
him in the past he lives in like calabasasas area you know what i'm saying so i'm sure the west hills
you know uh fire affected him and you know was probably in his backyard you know i'm saying as far as
like he can see it and it probably motivated him to want to help you know other families that are displaced
and stuff like that you know and even air bnb stepping up i know Airbnb has stepped up
did yeah they have stepped up as well uh to help with rides what was it is that there's two rides that can
yeah so you'll get two free rides um two and
from a shelter.
Wow.
So, yeah, if you're riding from somewhere to a shelter and, you know, vice versa, you'll get
a free lift ride.
And that's major.
Because as we know, they can be $50, $60, $70 sometimes.
Yeah.
In a trying time like this, that adds up times.
100%.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And speaking of games, the Lakers and other L.A. teams have actually canceled or postponed
games.
The Lakers home game last night against the Hornets was postponed by the NBA.
As well as the L.A. Rams, the home game that we were monitoring to see if it was going to get moved.
It's a playoff game.
If it was going to get moved to Arizona, it actually did get moved to Arizona for this Monday.
And in the NHL, the L.A. Kings, canceled the game against the Calgary Flames, ironically.
You know what I'm saying?
Wow.
I didn't even think of that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's the last thing that L.A. team needs to play.
Calgary?
Where's Calgary?
Canada.
Canada.
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
Yeah.
It's crazy to me, like the leagues that
NHL does bring in
ads Canada, right?
Yes.
Yeah.
Oh, and so does NBA?
No, yes, Toronto.
Does MLB?
MLB has a team team.
No, okay.
So you practice?
Blue Jays.
I didn't know that.
Football doesn't have a Canadian team.
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
But yeah, seeing so much stuff,
I guess, be canceled, shut down,
and we're just going to see more of that, I feel,
regardless of what the,
how quickly these fires get put out.
Yeah.
It's the air quality, bro.
The aftermath of it.
Yeah, that's going to keep us kind of just still hunkered down for a good, a good minute.
It's that and it's also just the feeling of like, you know, it doesn't feel right.
I know Rolling Loud pushed their sale date back a week.
They were supposed to start today.
They were supposed to go on sale in personal news.
Me and Lettis, the Brownback podcast, we were going to go on sale today.
Wow, way to make it about us.
No, but yeah, we had to postpone the date as well, you know, to a later date.
To go on sale, it just doesn't feel right.
People are losing their homes.
It's a domino effect.
It's like someone loses their home.
Their families are affected.
Yeah.
Their friends are affected.
And it's just, you know, we all end up affected by it.
You know what, too?
It is.
And we had just had the Golden Globes.
It's award season out here in LA.
We have the Grammys that are supposed to come up
at the beginning of February.
In between that, there's other award shows.
I could only imagine them also being.
Oh, yeah.
There's a bunch of awards.
that are like postponed and even it's like they're uh they're historically held out here so it's
like like for their Arizona one I get it they can move but it's like these award shows are meant to be
I guess I'm wondering what that that pivot would be maybe Las Vegas possibly yeah so the
Critics Choice Awards 2025 Critics Choice Awards they were set for Sunday January 12th it's been postponed
it was actually going to take place in the Santa Monica Airport hangar
Oh, yeah, that's so now.
Yeah, so that's in the middle of all the Palisade stuff.
That's actually been pushed back to January 26th.
Even when I see a date like that, I'm like, that might still be too soon.
Yeah.
So I would imagine that that's probably going to get relocated to a different city, to be honest.
Yeah.
Well, even if it gets relocated, I don't know if, like, celebrities themselves that lost their home would even want to go to an award like that.
If they were part of the nominated or invited.
Do you think so?
No, no.
probably not no yeah no yeah it's a bunch of stuff premieres for you know certain movies um the pit
premiere last showgirl premiere um it's a bunch of you know better man premiere a lot of things that
was like we're gonna happen yeah there was a jlo one that we were invited to yeah and i don't really
want to see jalo yeah a real bugs life premiere um which was a narrated docuseries on disney plus
when is that oh it's gonna be on disney plus yeah it's on disney plus i'm watching that exactly so
yeah it's all that and then um as well as well
as a lot of TV productions that, you know,
TV that was going to go on and, you know,
Ted,
you know,
they're making like a TV adaptation of the movie Ted,
the Teddy Bear?
That's going to be perfect.
Because it's filmed at Universal Studios in Burbank.
Abbott Elementary is shooting for Warner Bros.
Here in Burbank canceled.
All-American shot here in Warner Bros.
In Burbank.
Also,
Jimmy Kimmel,
the other night was canceled since,
you know,
the Hollywood fire.
NCIS is filming in Santa Clarita.
That's canceled.
So it's just a lot of things being canceled in post.
Yeah, all out here.
We're going to see a lot more of that.
And I do fear that pushing it to the 20s of this month is still too soon.
I think so, too.
But that sucks that it's too soon.
Like, I kind of want, like, oh, do you want to be over with on this part of it?
No.
I don't think so either.
Let me tell you the fire.
There's 8% contained, the Palisades one.
The Eaton is still at zero.
No, I think it just changed.
The Eaton?
Yes.
The
Google one second
Sorry
Let's do our goals
Is 3%
Contain?
Amazing
Yeah
So being able to like
See like
This is just
Yeah
Palisades
Like we're slowly
Yeah
Palisades is 8
Kenneth is 35
Hurst is 37
37
Lydia is 75
And Ian is three
Wow
Yeah that just makes you
Yeah
Yeah.
Stepping stones.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, that was your word on Rosecrans.
Brought to you by local Southern California's Toyota dealers.
I'm Rose Kranz, Vick for Brown Bag Mornings on Power 106.
And we're not canceled.
No.
No, we're here.
We're here.
Yes.
Should we be?
I'm kidding.
Love to our family, our sister station, K-L-O-S.
I saw Frank from Heidi and Frank.
They're off air.
And we're talking about this earlier in the show.
Mount Wilson, which is right in the,
the Ian fires kind of in that whole area.
As of yesterday afternoon,
those are the way we get to communicate with you.
And for some reason or other,
it affected the KLOS tower.
Yeah.
And they're not on air.
So they're streaming.
Yeah, I heard them talking about it in the restroom right now.
They're like, we've been off this whole morning.
Wow.
Were you overhearing?
Yeah.
Oh, you didn't talk to them?
No, I was hit his ear against the stall.
Oh, he was doing his own.
Guy restroom tag.
going on over there.
I had to do the cops so they knew that was in there.
And honestly, like, as long as we're able to communicate with you and give you information,
we will and we are and we hope to be for all the days to come.
But it does even get scary in our line of work to know that these things that allow us
to do this magic, that is us being a room in Burbank talking, it goes to you wherever you're
at and you're able to listen to us.
That is as, I guess, vulnerable at this point.
time because of these fires.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Even, like, I was talking to my mother-in-law yesterday, and she's like, oh, they still
make you go to work?
I'm like, it's, we're more necessary than ever now.
You know, it's just a privilege.
Well, okay, whatever.
Mother-in-law.
Okay, whatever.
Mother-in-law.
You're not.
I know, but like it.
It's just like an easy way for you to say it.
No, I've never called a boyfriend's mom, my mother-in-law.
Mother-in-law.
I don't know why I said that.
Mother-in-law.
You know, you tell us.
You tell us.
You tell us.
You tell us.
No, no, I just, I don't know.
Do you want to tell the world?
I was just thinking of the fastest way to like.
No.
Jordan's mom?
That's two syllable or three syllables.
Mother-in-law, that's four.
It's actually easier to say my girl's mom.
If you say her name and then we say who's that,
my girl's mom.
It's a privilege to speak to the people of Los Angeles.
Including your mother-in-law.
Your mother-in-law.
Oh, big.
I know we don't have a.
Simp of the week today
But can he
Sip! Sip! Sip! Sip! Sip! Sip!
Is it Simp if your
significant other starts calling your
parents' in-laws before they
even proposed to you? Or without
you even proposing to you? Is Swagra like
a pass? Like I feel like a... Svagra does
feel more like... Like a cute...
Do we have T. Payne
sprung on the board, please? He's definitely sprung.
Do you want to do your wrap-up so we could do Sime of the Week?
I already did it. Oh, you did? Yeah, he did.
A while ago.
Did it like three minutes?
Oh, and then I started talking?
Yep.
Okay, so boom, we're in some of the week.
Boom.
Replay.
So.
Sim.
Would you consider it Sim?
If in a time of tragedy, you start calling people things that they aren't in your life?
Like if all of a sudden you start calling the situation ship, your girlfriend.
Wow.
Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
I think it's almost like that, like, he almost like probably went to his house, you know,
he looked at his clothes and no, this matters.
The day matter.
And then that's my mom.
mother-in-law. I got to make sure my mother-in-law's okay.
Dang. Yeah, how big. That's how it went down.
So if she's your mother-in-law, then
your father-in-law is okay with this, do you think?
Did you ask? Did you ask? Is that your father-in-law, too?
Did you ask? You don't know.
Would you caught him, your sui-ro?
Yes. See, I feel like that's... Yes? I don't know, man.
I'm in uncharted territory. You guys know my relationships
never lasted more than two months. Yeah, I know.
Is this how long as a bit? After two months, they're not your mother-in-in-law?
No.
I thought that's what happened.
After you proposed to your girl.
That's what it becomes, right?
Unless, is she your fiancé?
No.
Is she wifey?
Wifee?
Is she wifey material?
Yeah.
Yeah, but no.
Yeah, but no.
So your girl's not your wife, but her mom.
You want to call her mother-in-law?
It's weird.
You want to escalate your mother-in-law's presence in your life?
Do you just ask your father-in-law right now?
Right now.
For her hand?
Live.
You should.
You should right now.
You should do it.
No, it's just, it's a time of tragedy.
It is.
And people say things, you know, they don't know what they're saying.
So honestly, it's the air quality.
No, don't say that.
Don't say that.
Because then now that could be taken wrong too.
Now it's going to be like, what, you don't want my daughter?
Yeah.
That's me some of those ibuprofen.
I need them.
And the sim for the week goes to VIX.
VIX!
VIX!
Soup, soup, soup, soup, soup, soup, soup, soup, soup, soup, soup, soup.
Do it. Say soup, soup, soup, soup, soup.
There we go. There we go.
