It's Tim Miller with a new bulwark take. Look, there's been so much happening out here that even though it's the fifth anniversary of January 6th, I wanted to take the day to focus on all the stuff Trump is doing now to attack our democracy and undermine us on the world stage. I had a great interview on the pod with John Blitzer talking about what's happening in Venezuela. I talked about Trump's attacks on the First Amendment rights of Americans. We're speaking out against. him in that interview with Imran Ahmed. And Trump's now doing Elon Musk is solid and trying to send him out of the country. I thought they were all free speech absolutus. So, you know, that what is

happening now was so urgent, that wanted to focus on it. But I felt remiss not talking a little bit about January 6th. There's so many other folks out there who did these amazing retrospectives. For us, Bill Crystal talked to Tom Jocelyn, the Washington Post one is so good in MPRs. My new colleague, Sarah Matthews, who was actually there and quit that day on January 6th, did some great work over on TikTok. And so rather than kind of do all that and get on my high horse, I just wanted to tell the one story of one of the people that was pardoned, because I saw this video yesterday, and it incensed me. And I'm hoping in particular that Republicans of good faith, that people that support Israel might see this, might see this video, and think about what it is that they're supporting. no. Sorry, there are no Republicans in good faith. And I'm hoping in particular that any Republicans left with an ounce of possible concern about this country and what Donald Trump's doing it to it or anybody who are supporters of Israel and are concerned about the anti-Semitism in the country and the attacks that we're seeing. I'm hoping that they might look at this and think about the fact that Donald Trump,

pardon this person and really reflect on where we are as a country, that things could have gotten so partisan and so divided, that half the country could think it's okay that somebody like this man could be pardoned and celebrated within the right. So let's run through it. The man I'm talking about is Jacob Lang. Lang was facing an 11-count indictment for his actions on January 6 before he was pardoned. Yesterday, the White House touted the commutation. and pardons for all these people. Say that they were unfairly targeted and overcharged. Unfairly targeted and overcharged.

Well, let's take a look at the story of Jacob Lang. Here he was, seen with a gas mask and a shield, attacking a police officer with a bat on January 6th. Let's watch. This is the back the blue guys, the one to pardon a person that did that, attacked a cop with a bat. After he attacked the Capitol Police,

the Justice Department said that Lang tried to organize state militias on telegram to try to stop Biden's inauguration. So for him, it didn't just stop on January 6th. He wrote, Our best and honestly, easiest option right now is to make sure Joe Biden never gets in that office. You can understand why Trump would like Jacob Lang.

I mean, he just did a clue of his own and his way or less, so Trump's big on that. But generally speaking, you think people that are supporters of our liberal democracy would not be in favor of partnering a guy that attacked a cop with a bat and then tried to organize a militia to stop the inauguration and the peaceful transfer of power in this country. Fast forward a few years since Trump gave him his newfound freedom. Here's what he's been up to. He's not like, you know, I've seen the video yesterday from the Jan Sixer. Jan-sex grandma, who talks about how she deserved the punishment and how she's changed her views, you know, that he's not come out of incarceration and decided to recommit himself to the community. No, Blang is a self-described Christian nationals.

And, well, he's been productive since he got out of jail. He's been a productive piece of shit. He's been traveling around the country, taunting Muslims, Jews, and other minorities. In November, he traveled to Dearborn Michigan for an anti-Islam protest where he threatened to burn a Koran, and he waved a package of bacon in the face of counter-protesters. Here's this really fucking upstanding Confederate holding his bacon outside the protests. A week later, he traveled to Plano, Texas, once again to protest against Islam with a pig in his hand. He was shouting this. I want to see the Trump administration send ICE in here like they put.

promised recently and remove every scumbag, dirty Muslim and Somali that is here. We need to protect our country, our posterity. White children in America will cease to exist unless we take to the streets, show our dominance, and make these people feel uncomfortable. We need to protect the white children of America. Just the white children. Not the black children, not the brown children, not the Jewish children. Just the white Anglo children.

Our children are not going to turn into a bunch of lovers Really Really Well, here's what I think. Fuck this person and his thoughts and his attack on cops, on Muslims, on Jews, on black kids. Fuck him. Fuck him and fuck Donald Trump who pardoned him. Fuck Jacob Lang and all of the people who are in the Trump administration, up to including his vice president who said that he wasn't going to pardon the violent criminals. He did. He pardoned a violent criminal. He pardoned a violent criminal. He pardon this guy. And you know what he's doing now? And oh, is he back out there agitating? Does he back out there demeaning and discriminating and doing everything that goes

against what we would want for a pluralistic society? He wants to try to take over our government. He's decided that he's going to run for Senate in Florida. He wants to challenge Republican Senator Ashley Moody, who was appointed there after Marco Rubio became Secretary of State. I got to tell you, this is a guy that should be behind bars. This is a guy that should have the condemnation of everyone outside of a handful of racist cranks

who watch Nick Fuentes because no girls will love them. But instead, he has been pardoned by this administration, honored by this administration. On January 6th, when Donald Trump and his White House offered a retrospect They attacked the vice president, Mike Pence, who tried to do the right thing. And they honored people like Jacob Lang, who stormed the capital, attack cops, throw coins at people walking into APEC, try to throw bacon in the face of Islamic Americans, say that he doesn't want our children to be N-word lovers. that is that is the type of person that Donald Trump is fighting for him and his billionaire buddies it's a it's a truly truly enraging and maddening state of affairs and um you know part of the

reason why I wanted to focus on going forward is because you can just tell it just gets you so fucking pissed to think about it and um and sometimes to be successful and to be a effective. The only thing to do is to put one footstep in the other in front of the other and go forward. And we're going to do that. I'm going to keep fighting these guys and guys like this we're going to lose his worldview is going to be in the dustbin of history. But we need to fight it head on and people need to look at it. People need to know that this is the type of person this administration has advocated for. Jacob Lang. All right. There you go, everybody.
