This is the Can't Keep My Mouth Shut podcast, and I am Nixalina.
Hi, it's Nixalina. Welcome back to me. Hi, hi, hi.
I hope you're all doing well on this Monday.
I hope you're feeling fantastic and looking forward to a great week.
I want to talk about a sensitive topic, obviously, because the tagline of my podcast is always,
let's talk about the stuff nobody wants to talk about.
So here's where I come in.
I want to talk about ageing and anti-ageing.
This episode is called, In a world obsessed with anti-ageing, do I wish I was 25 again?
No, I fucking don't. The end. Imagine if I actually did that to you all. Nah, I'm good. Okay, bye.
Okay, I want to talk about this because I feel like...
Let's establish, if you guys don't know, if you're tuning in new, I'm 36 years old, right?
I turned 37 in May next year. Don't have kids. I'm not married yet, yet to both. So I'm still
single. I have an active lifestyle. I drink a lot. I party a lot, but I also do a lot of sports. I
play netball. I go to the gym a lot. I'm very active. And I'm saying that because my body is
still like in a, it looks the way I'd like it to. I feel healthy. I look healthy. Fantastic.
but I am plus 35 like I'm closer to 40 now than I am 30 that terrifies me because we've been
brought up in a culture where aging is shit and especially for women it's like you hit that 30
mark as a female and you're you're seen as past your heyday you're seen as old and what's getting
worse and worse especially for your gen zeds and your social medias and your filters is that now
everyone is attempting to try and stay fucking younger and younger and younger when they're
already young. I'm talking 18, 19 year olds having Botox. What? Botox and fillers in their
face. What? I mean, the Kardashians haven't helped. Let's call a spade a spade. Kylie
Jenner hasn't helped. She did transform her face and she did look fantastic. But it's
so young. And she's also recently, I don't say recently, but she's admitted to having her boobs
done at quite a young age and regretting it. Bella Hadid has admitted to having a nose job
quite young and regretting it. So I feel like the younger generation these days
are having these surgeries and these treatments and these injections and changing their body,
but without really understanding how much your body grows and changes naturally anyway and you
know you think you're an adult at 18 you're not you're fucking not if I look back at my life
choices when I was 18 nah it's a it's a fucking no so for me do I wish I could be 25 again
no certainly not in this day and age I am so thankful that I grew up without Instagram
and I mean grew up as in my how do I put this the years where you're very easily affected and
vulnerable in your your puberty years you're changing years and I'm not like even early 20s
you're still quite young you're still forming who you are you're still growing you're still
changing. And this is the time when, you know, I feel like you should really cherish just
the kind of person you're becoming. I'm not shitting on people who have young surgery or
like my best mate got her tits done when she was 18. I'm not saying that. But what I'm saying is,
do I wish I was young again? No, no. I am genuinely so much more comfortable with my body,
so much more comfortable with my sexuality, so much more confident with who I am and basically
feel like I am finally like a woman, not a girl, a woman in my mid 30s. 110%. And it's something I
feel like we do talk about a lot when you get older like my friends are like wait till you get
to your 40s it's fucking great I'm like really it's it just feels like we live in a world where
everyone's terrified of getting old and terrified of aging and yet the older you get the fucking
better life is and I think it's because you just start to give less fucks like when you're in your
teens and your early 20s you really give a fuck about what people think of you about what you'd
look like you're scared you're starting to have work setting a new job or whatever or uni or
whatever it is you're doing you you're looking for a partner and you're still finding your feet
and it's all a little bit like uneasy scary when you get to my age you've seen some shit
you've lived through some shit and especially me I've definitely taken life to the extreme when it
comes to it unique experiences should we put it that way I've kind of done it all seen it all
experienced it all some really really dark shitty stuff and some fucking great stuff
but you kind of you've evolved because because these experiences change you
Like even the ex-fiancé, I feel like we all know that's the worst period of my life, 110%.
And before him, I'd been beaten up for two years by my boyfriend from 16 to 18.
I'm not kidding.
I was in a severely domestically abusive relationship.
I don't think that came close to what the fiancé put me through.
Because of where I was emotionally and who I became, it really fucked me up.
and even that I find now is a huge blessing I really do I think it's fantastic it to have
happened to me because I changed and grew so much after that so I kind of like yeah I could go up to
him and hug him say thanks mate thanks for being an absolute cunt because you made me this incredible
woman I am and now I'm so fucking happy with a partner that just is everything to me so
why would I want to go back to being 10 years younger and all that horrible stuff that you go
through as you're finding your way in life no do I want to and okay I'm saying like okay that's
great next but what about how you look let's do that then right let's just go down the fucking
superficial route I don't think when I was 25 I was half as attractive as I have become
genuinely I think my body's got better my face has got better I I was I wasn't ugly like that's
coolest I wasn't I wasn't ugly so let's not say that at all I've always known I'm an attractive
woman I know this I'm not an idiot I know the attention I get I know what I look like in the
mirror I know the comments on insta I know I'm not an ugly woman never have been but I feel so
much more attractive now than ever before I used to be really squeamish about like being naked in
front of guys you know like 22 23 year old me would want to have the lights off and we're having
sex and I was like a size six to a size eight back then fucking tiny and I would just be really like
and like don't look at me without makeup on and I always felt like I had to look perfect and be
perfect and that has gone right out the window and I love how comfortable I am in my own skin
I think that's the part where you feel more attractive because you've become so comfortable
with who you are and I like I don't let myself like there are phases where like say I put on
weight and I look at myself in the mirror and I'm like girl you're a little bit too chubby for my
liking a little bit too many beers come on now and I'm like yeah all right too many burgers yeah
all right and then I rein myself back in a little bit I'm always playing netball I'm always at like
well I say I'm always at the gym when I met my boyfriend I basically didn't go to the gym
for like the first month I was just too busy loving life with him but yeah I go through phases
a little bit plumper, but I still find myself way more attractive than I used to be. Do
I get Botox? Yeah. Yes. I love it. Does it fight off the wrinkles? Yes. Have I tried
fillers before? Yes, but I really don't personally rate fillers. I've tried recently, tried Profilo
injections. That will be over on my Instagram. You can, at some point soon, I'll post the
real you can see the procedure and all that jazz and how it looks but so i'm not it's not like i'm
against all that stuff but i'm don't would i want to be would i want to be exposed to that at the
very vulnerable tender age of 17 18 no i'm so glad i grew up in the gen where it didn't really exist
i really am but for me now in my late 30s i can't believe i'm in my late 30s what the fuck
I still see myself as that young 25 year old girl. Late 30s. Fucking hell. But in my late,
I digress. Just having a little moment. Bear with. As a woman in my late 30s, yes, I do love Botox.
You know, the fillers, not so much. The lip fillers did nothing for me. Had them a couple
of times. It's nice. Would I have it again? Yeah, maybe. Did it suddenly transform me into like way
more attractive? No, no. Do I think if I didn't have any injections ever, if I didn't ever have
Botox, would I still feel attractive? Yes, because of who I've became. And you can only become this
person through life experiences and aging. And I also want to say, and this is the note I'll
leave you on. I'm very much on the mindset that ageing is a privilege. And if you get old and you
look older than you used to, that is a fucking privilege. So many of us sadly don't get there,
don't get to experience life and the ups and the downs. And so many of us don't get to,
you know see their body change and have kids and not have kids and move countries and go and live
with animals open sanctuaries or teach children whatever it is we all do with our lives there are
so many that never make it and I always try and remember that like every day you wake up
and you're alive and you're here and you're present and you're healthy like wow that's
That's something to be seriously thankful for. And the older I get and the more wrinkles I collect and the more scars I collect and the more grey hairs I have, I kind of see it as I'm lucky to be in a position to witness all of that.
And I think that's something that we all lose sight of.
So that's what I want to leave you with.
The answer is no, I do not wish I was 25 again.
And I believe aging is a privilege.
So in a world obsessed with anti-aging, I think we need to kind of turn the tables a
little bit and become obsessed with aging because it's really fucking cool that you
are here and present and able to do that.
and on that little deep note i'm gonna love you all and leave you all if you have any comments
