Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, everyone. It's Nixalina here. It has been a long, long time. God, I think maybe two months now since I've done my last podcast, which is absolutely terrible. So my serious apologies for anyone who was in the rhythm of listening weekly. I just kind of stopped. This episode is basically a catch up. It's called Let's Talk Lockdown Staying Sane. and isodate so as we're all aware globally we're stuck in this horrendous lockdown which coincided with me not doing any podcasts and kind of not doing anything at all really
Starting point is 00:00:43 and the reason I want to talk about the lockdown and stay insane it's because I did not handle it very well at the beginning it was a novelty like oh yay I get to spend more time by the pool I get to spend more time in my pajamas at home I think we all kind of took it like a fun snow day off school kind of vibe aware that that's related to people who've lived in Europe and Singapore does not have snow days a snow day guys is when it snows so hard all the schools close and you just get to hang around at home it's awesome but as the time wears on you know it stops being so much fun it's not yay no makeup no no bothering to go out mood it's oh my god I'm seriously stuck at home kind of going out my mind I don't know how any of you guys handled it and we've still got what
Starting point is 00:01:37 six weeks left at least until we can start to think about a normal life but yeah it does not affects me in a very good way at all I think if I'm honest I struggle with like a lack of consistency in general and lack of routine even though I don't like routine but kind of giving myself a reason to wake up for in the morning apparently is a big deal because when you don't have it shit it's the fan and I kind of um I it's I think a lot of creatives will understand this but I go through spells where like I'm on top of everything as much as humanly possible I'm like motivated and doing like a billion things at once and then I have like a crash and where I do nothing and I'm so not interested in doing anything and the lockdown kind of brought that on for me but
Starting point is 00:02:34 tenfold I kind of didn't really want to bother with my health I can't play netball anymore I can't see my netball girls I can't join the gym which is I was planning to do I can't do my kickboxing which I was doing and then I just sort of gave up I guess on creating content for both blog podcasts and even my Instagram for a while everything just felt like hard work so I didn't bother and uh yeah I call it lazy-itis because it just feels like the lazier I get the more lazy I become and this went on for a fifth maybe like a whole month the whole of April was pretty much like this just couldn't be asked like cooking i'd rather get a takeaway no alarm set in the morning uh couldn't be asked to put makeup on do my hair that kind of jazz i know we've all been there
Starting point is 00:03:27 this is how the lockdowns affected me anyway i'm not saying we all have this reaction to it thankfully i'm now no longer in that situation um i got a cool job cool gig which I'll talk about in a minute that not a minute that was an absolute lie to you all like I'll talk about in a fair few minutes when I finish waffling and about this um I got a gig and it kind of gave me the kick up the ass I needed to kind of re-motivate myself again um what I'd also been doing when I've kind of been doing nothing was drinking you know it was like like a Friday night every night so even if it's just like a beer or two beers I'd be drinking chilling on the balcony one beer would lead to two beers and after two beers i don't really want
Starting point is 00:04:16 to do anything anyway like kind of at a knock-on effect um which isn't good and god fucking knows how many calories i consumed in just alcohol like jeez i could do a bottle of prosecco on my own on like a friday night i'm not proud of this by the way this isn't me bragging i'm ashamed um um yeah over the course of one evening i could probably do a bottle of prosecco and i don't even want to google the amount of sugar and stuff that's in prosecco like and obviously beforehand you know you'd go to a bar that would be your treat like you'd go out you go to bar that's when you have your drink you meet your girlfriends but it kind of all changed with the lockdown everyone's kind of opened up to having alcohol at home because you can't grow
Starting point is 00:05:04 and alcohol is always at home and you're like sod it i'll have a beer on tuesday like what's i haven't got anything to wake up for in the morning i don't have to get up with bed really early so i'll have another drink and that's what i kind of slipped into really demotivated really unproductive enjoying my alcohol way too much and yeah pretty much just on a kind of self spiral not a good one however now I'm on the other side it's kind of it's so easy to see isn't it hindsight I feel like oh god I've wasted a month of like all this stuff I could have bloody done I've lost a month if not six weeks of my life doing fuck all joined some really good beers and wines it didn't help of course that my birthday was in lockdown right I turned 33
Starting point is 00:06:02 on the 5th of May 33 oh and it was a Tuesday so it was a non-eventful day and then I got sent a lot of champagne but thank you all to who sent them to me that's really awesome and it kind of made my day none of my cards arrived for my family and my friends because the post is fucked as well because of the coronavirus so yeah I had a lot of champagne on my birthday and then I had lots of bottles of champagne left over so you know I still have one granted it's yeah it's the end of month and I still have a whole bottle of champagne so not an alcoholic let me just tell you um but yeah obviously alcohol is a depressant we all know that so if you're drinking a lot more during the lockdown you've got a negative vibe anyway as we all have we all feel stuck we all feel imprisoned
Starting point is 00:06:52 like we can't do what we want to do we can't live our normal lives have a drink style it out or chill out maybe and then the alcohol obviously spurs on more negativity so yeah it's not good is it if anyone's still in that headspace you can message me on my instagram at nixalina n-i-x-a-l-i-n-a and uh talk to me about it if you're in a seriously bad mental place which i know the virus has really screwed a lot of us up do get help i did a post on instagram about two weeks ago about this like on a serious note do talk to someone and if you have to go and see a doctor go for it go to the institute of mental health um they have an emergency unit there so it's kind of available even through this period but yeah i advise that very strongly advise that
Starting point is 00:07:47 anywho let's pick this back up a little shall we the lockdown fucking sucks um yes to keep myself sane I had the kick up the ass job and then I propelled myself back into my brand and fitness so I started jogging every day along the river and once I started it once I was like oh god that was awesome if I can just be asked to keep doing that every day and I've been doing it less well a week a week um and I just plan to keep doing that for as long as I possibly can really all this extra time on your hands and we're kind of not really doing anything positive with it so I'm now doing a jog every day and I've redone yoga you should do yoga for three years in the UK sorry I did yoga for years in the UK more than three years but then I moved to Singapore
Starting point is 00:08:41 for the last three years i haven't done it and i've kind of resumed that from home my yogi teacher from the uk is doing online videos which is fantastic because it feels like i'm back there with her so i tune in for an hour and a half most nights and i'm going to try and do it nightly now and do a set of yoga meditation and relaxation at the end it's awesome and i can really feel the difference and obviously it affects how you sleep and you know positive effects so i've been doing running I've been doing yoga I have not been drinking alcohol so alcohol I'm now saving for weekends so a Friday night I'll do my live show which I will talk about and then I will have um champagne alcohol whatever I mean it doesn't help that I've been sponsored by both Budweiser
Starting point is 00:09:31 and then I did a set for Guinness as well with my co-host Paul Foster we did a live Instagram so I still have Guinness in my fridge and I still have Budweiser did not help but I'm not complaining so thank you for that um yeah but alcohol is definitely not a midweek thing anymore exercise every day alcohol just at weekends maybe one night and then what I'm doing is I'm carving out time every day I'm doing a routine for my personal stuff so I'll write part of my novel every day um when the novel's near completion i will do a podcast on it someone else um someone wrote on my instagram what's the novel about and it's gonna take a whole fucking podcast to just debrief you guys on that totally worth the wait um but yeah so i'm doing that again
Starting point is 00:10:24 um just kind of yeah throwing myself back at my shit including this podcast believe it or not I've only just downloaded software like the other day to actually record a podcast from home I don't know how my problem was and it's fine right I mean you guys can hear me okay and I don't think you really care too much if there was any background noise which there shouldn't be talking of my projects so i now present a brand new tv show uh organized by coconuts tv and it's called iso date so iso date happens every friday at 6 p.m singapore time and it's live and it's a blind date and it's a blind first date and it's all all recorded live so as this first date goes down everyone gets to tune in and watch so this friday will be our third episode and i am the presenter
Starting point is 00:11:26 so i come in at the beginning in between the three courses and at the end and we basically kind of go on a journey with the datees and find out by the end of it whether they're willing to have a second date or not we yeah it's like it's on youtube um i've put the link in there'll be blog posts on sex in singapore city and in my instagram as well on my bio so i update that weekly with the new youtube link so you can go and watch episodes one and two if you haven't tuned in yet it's really fun the comments are brilliant and even the first week show we had a took his top off i mean what more could you actually want so yeah let's um let's fingers cross we make another match this week i haven't yet to meet the deities um and i would love you
Starting point is 00:12:18 guys to tune in and obviously just listen to more of me which is never a bad thing anyway this was just a catch-up one i know it's only been 12 minutes but fuck recording anything more at the moment i do have a couple of episodes up my sleeve i want to talk to you guys about and i'm going to been doing some more work with paul as well paul and i have been craving to do more podcasts from home so as the government have released the revised phases and that we were aware we're going to be home a lot longer we're now looking to do our she said he said from home as well so you don't miss out on that either anyway tune in to iso day this friday 6 p.m please keep up to date with sex in singapore city and my instagram handle and of course keep on this podcast and i
Starting point is 00:13:10 promise i won't slack off for two months ago actually do you know what i can't even promise that i mean i could be like solid for a year and then have another fuck this i'm gonna have a month out kind of mood just my it's my vibe you have to roll with it anyway thank you for listening and uh yeah any issues with the lockdown any mental problems any complaints any rants at all just hit me up easiest ways to pm me on instagram at nick selena okay peace out guys
