Senna.
Pals.
What's up, everyone?
We're continuing on with our Eddie Murphy, Murphy.
Murphy.
Marathon.
I think I was going for Marathon, and then my tongue was like, let me help you out.
It's Murthy.
No, it's not.
It's Eddie Murphy.
And we are watching 48 hours starring Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolty.
Let's go.
But if I did decide to be a thief, what makes you think you can?
catch me.
Can I have my lighter back, Reggie?
Oh my gosh.
This is so good.
He's smooth.
That was really smooth.
But Jack's like, no.
I know just everything, dude.
So you're not going to pull the wool over my eyes.
I love the ending of that.
That was adorable.
Yeah, that was cute.
I want him to be a cop with him and be his partner.
But I know that won't happen because you can't be...
Oh, you can't become a cop if you've been convicted of a crime before?
He can be a consultant.
Epic.
Amazing.
This was fun.
This was different, I think, than what we've been experiencing with Eddie Murphy.
Especially with Eddie Murphy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Completely different side of him.
I didn't know he had that in him.
Yeah, because, I mean, he's normally, like, really funny.
And, like, he was still, like, he still had, like, that.
charm that funny but he was a lot more serious in this where I was like yeah because the vibe the vibe of
this movie is definitely just like more grounded and and gritty and then like you know Nick Nolte was
giving us like the functioning alcoholic cop he's like really grumpy and stuff you know he was
doing that really well and then when Eddie Murphy came into the picture we're like oh yeah we're so
excited and then it was like oh who are you I don't recognize this eddie
yeah I still like it yeah but who are you I almost felt like you know I'm like a little kid
sees their dad and they shave their beard off yeah like like ah like I almost feel like
and then I was like huh come yeah I love you he's still really funny you know he was still funny
but it's just like a different vibe than say Beverly Hills cop that we're watching which is just
like a bit more like you know outlandish yeah
I like I personally like his like I mean he could go either way but I didn't know he could do that I was like wow I personally like him more giddy and like more like high and like extra like I like him being extra because he's it's just such a wild card that you're like ah it was like a much more restrained performance from him like very very real very grounded and I think it just shows his range as an actor because he's really great at the comedy and obviously that's what he's really known for how he's
However, watching him and this, I'm like, oh, yeah.
You can do it.
He can do drama.
He can do everything.
Like, he truly is multi-talented.
It's almost like he needed one of, like, he needed that under his belt to be like,
now I can do this too, but watch me do what I love, love.
Like, yeah, I really love.
I love it.
This movie was what, like, 1982, is it?
Yeah, 1988.
So this is before Beverly Hills Cop and all of that.
And so I don't know, because obviously I wasn't paying attention.
I wasn't around at this time to kind of be like, oh, you know, we saw Eddie Murphy in this
and this is him just being a lot more serious.
And then later on he kind of does that.
I'm sure he just evolved.
You know, like this is probably like it's before he started really truly evolving into just
being that guy.
Everybody's like, I'm obsessed.
Yeah.
I'm obsessed.
Like he kind of everything.
He hit his lane and was like, yeah, this is what I do.
This is what Eddie Murphy does.
And so it is refreshing.
see him in a role that at least for us feels very different.
It wasn't what we were expecting at all.
Yeah, and Nick Noltee was really great as well.
You know, he really leaned into that character.
And obviously, you know, today, listening to some of the language that they used.
It's like, oh, this was 1982 is such a different time.
definitely had those like 80s tropes that we've been seeing a lot of like the the sexy ladies
and the tattas and the booty you know you gotta have it right i kind of miss it now when i watch
like an 80s action movie and they don't have boobies i'm like way charra noted carra likes boobs
who does it though who doesn't like you know what i mean like you know what to deal with but you know
women we all like boobs
can we agree
yeah right they're beautiful
yeah but there's something bad that you're just like
I don't know every time I see a girl and she's showing
her I'm like ballsy
I'm like look at her go good for her
like her owning it but then I don't know
I feel like it's kind of coming back now
it's just yeah we don't do it as much
no it seems to be a trope for these types of movies
where it's like at some point there's going to be
like a bar or
or a strip club or something like that.
And there's going to be some hoddies dancing.
Emma Stone just showed off hers for the first time.
Oh, yeah, and poor things.
Yeah, I watched that.
I saw a lot of Tatas.
Yeah, and I was actually shocked that she did that.
I was like, whoa.
Yeah.
Well, she's in the Tata club now.
Yeah, exactly.
And that has nothing to do with this.
No, this was really fun.
I think that it was filmed very well.
I like films that are kind of
Graney. Well, yeah, I mean, this was the 80s, so everything was shot on film. So it does
have that, that look. I love that look. Yeah. I really, really love that look. But I love how
their, I love that their relationship changed so much. But the fight scene when he was like, I'm so
tired, I can't even lift my arms. I thought that was funny. Yeah, that was, that was pretty funny.
I mean, you know kind of the beats that you're going to get with the movie. They start out as
not friends. And then as it progresses. But they were like intensely not.
friends yeah they were they did not like each other no but the end like I like how they both kind of
started defending themselves against his boss and then I think the ending was very adorably done
yeah it was cute I like I like the relationship like where they ended up in the relationship
together you know I thought he was going to let him off somehow and like be like hey he helped me
like you're off he still sent him back to jail well yeah you know you got to finish your six months
no I thought like maybe he would work out no I thought maybe he was going to work out some type of deal you know
yeah I don't think he has that kind of power to be able to be like okay so you can just not go back to jail but
he did kind of let him off the hook because he let him keep the money do you know what I mean so that was
like a bit of an arc as well yeah but it was also hey buy me a car exactly like give and take yeah but that's
fine it's not a bribe you know no it wasn't not completely not completely anyway you guys
that was fun thanks so much for recommending that to us and we will catch you in the next one
i'm a chara kirk this is christin step and subpoena chow chow you you're you know you're
