Sina. Pals.
What's up, guys? It's Christmas Sepsino, joined by Mr. Flash.
Your BFF.
BFF, Andrew. Flash. Gordon.
In the house. And we're back today with a quiet place, day one.
Are you excited?
So excited.
Last time we did this.
Don't remind me. BFF.
If you haven't seen it, you should check it out because last time we did this, I scared Andrew pretty badly.
He got upset with me.
In my nightmares.
It's probably one of my favorite reactions with you.
Oh, it's your favorite, huh?
He straight up looked at me and he was like,
why would you?
And then he like held his tongue and let it be.
Oh, off camera, I didn't hold my tongue, though.
It's amazing.
But anyways, let's hop into this because I can't wait to scare Andrew again.
If I see an opportunity, I'm going for it.
I've forgotten how the city's.
Things, you can hear it when you're quiet.
It's good to have been back.
Jeez.
Wow.
Damn.
I felt like this we were watching completely.
We were watching a completely different film, first off.
I do like the other two a lot better.
I like this one on its own and not really like, because it's like, it's a whole other side of the world.
It goes from being, like we said in the beginning, a small town versus city, right?
Right.
And I'm obsessed with our two characters' relationship and how it grew.
It was done very beautifully.
And I love how Samira, I loved everything about her.
in this. She's so expressive with her eyes and absolutely stunning and captivates your attention
without saying a word, you know? And the scene that stood out to me the most is like when she was
sitting there holding and after she saved her cat and the guy from hospice was like right across from
her and she looked at him with all that the tears and terror in her eyes and like in her body language
to me I really felt that a lot.
And Joseph, I think, Eric, his character grew drastically because he started off afraid and almost like clinging to her for companionship.
And I feel like she was helping him to become stronger.
And I think because of her, he stepped into that male role of being somewhat of a protector as well himself, you know, and giving back.
And I thought it was very brave of him to go off on his own to get.
her exactly what she needed for medication and stuff.
And then also at the end, you see he's kind of like protecting her while they were like
walking out, but, you know, he had his little moment of doubt and she was like, you're good.
Yeah.
And he just ran for it.
Like that scene and she gave him a sweat.
I don't know.
I feel like this one is just so heartbreaking.
Yeah.
No, I agree with him.
It was beautifully done.
I feel like the other ones gave me more like horror effed up vibes where like, I mean,
Because, you know, remember we took, you know, the little boy, we took the dad.
Like, there's a lot of things in the first two that were just so messed up.
And I'm not saying that this one's not messed up, but it's just the way they did this storyline was so beautiful.
And that's all I can really say is it was, it had like more of like these scares where I feel like the other two actually scared me a lot more.
And I feel like this one is just the storyline and the beauty of it, you know, coming together and just being.
human and being like kind and beautiful to one another and then you also have like you know
like I said I would not want it's hard to trust a stranger in a situation like this it's hard to
trust them because you don't know how they're going to react with their emotions of course no we
saw that one guy when he's like when he saw the bridges and again I'm not defending him I think how
he was reacting was wrong but I mean is it wrong though but being trapped in on the on New York which is
basically an island, you know, with all those
monsters or aliens, whatever the hell they are.
Like, that's, holy shit, scary.
But is it really wrong
to react that way? It's the question.
Because it's like, you know what I mean?
That's the question. It's like, yes,
you shouldn't do that. Obviously, we know you shouldn't
do that. Yeah, because you're going to die. But,
but it's a normal reaction
for the average person.
Is it the thing to do? No.
You got to be mentally tough. But I don't know. Like, it's,
you know what I mean? I do agree with a
lot of what you're saying in regards to, I think the heart of this film is the relationship
between Samira and Eric.
I just, I love how they elevate each other so much.
Like, she just feels alone in the world, obviously so.
I mean, she's on hospice care when we start the film.
So, I mean, she doesn't really have a lot of time left in the world.
So other than her relationship with her amazing cat, who I freaking love that cat so much.
That cat really was.
That cat really does feel extremely alone.
And she wants to remain alone, even in crisis situations.
So, you know, when Eric comes-
Six volumes.
Yeah, no, for sure.
And I like that she also grew to her development because at first, like, you know,
she doesn't really want Eric to follow her.
She says, hey, just go that way back to where the ships are, the evacuation centers.
And, you know, I like that he, you know, like you pointed out, he wanted to,
he was kind of just like more clinging under her at first and was more scared, understandably.
So, and then he, you know, grew into kind of a protector role as she was deteriorating
in her health as well.
And also just because he had to, like the situation.
just called for it, like you said, this is where we, you know, it's a test to our true colors in
a crisis situation. So I love that he developed there. And also, too, I love that she
kind of like, you know, the detachment that she had just in terms of humanity and just from
how she was feeling from her health, she finally got that back with him. And I appreciate there
was something beautiful about that. I just love the concept of this film because, again, we
got it in that one extended long flashback in the last film, seeing day one. But again, like you
pointed out, it was in a suburban rural, small town with the family that we grew to love in the
first film, which was great. And I love seeing it now in a big city, like, holy shit, it's so much
different because obviously there's way more people in a big city like New York. So I thought, like,
just from that, they executed it really well. I love that we got to see Henry. I'm sorry. I know I'm
mispronouncing his name and jabby told me I had to say it. Yaman Hansu, I'm sorry if I
mispronounce it. I'm the king of mispronunciations, just in general. If you see a man,
Real Rejects or here, I mispronounce all the time.
It's not on purpose.
I just suck it, pronouncing.
But he's a great actor.
But I love, again, if now when I rewatch Quiet Place,
was it just Quiet Place 2, whichever.
Now when we see him in that whole village of people,
now we know, like, the origins of where, like,
they all came from, from New York City and all that.
There might have been, again, it's been a while since BFF watched that.
They might have said in dialogue with Killian Murphy
and some of the other characters that they did come from New York.
I don't remember.
a while since we watched that.
But if I do rewatch it,
now I've got a whole backstory.
Yes, of his story.
Just his story, even though he wasn't in the film a ton,
but he was in the film enough to where I know,
again, the origins of where,
hey, I know where everything started.
And I know the characters that I fell in love with, too.
Although I kind of would, like, when watching that,
what happened to Eric?
But, uh, yeah, and the cat.
But maybe they went off on their own somewhere else.
Well, I, I like how this one shows him as a leader already.
So it makes sense that.
You know, he's like the main guy.
True.
In their, on their island.
True.
I do love how Samara, in the beginning, she's like, this is shit, life shit, your shit, your shit.
Whatever.
I thought that was kind of funny.
But I also love that it just puts things in perspective of how shitty she thinks life is.
And now you're in this crisis.
And Eric reminded her what it is to live.
And the situation, I feel like, pulled her out of that, that self-sabotaging name.
nature that she had, you know what I mean? Because it does suck. I do work with elderly people
on the side of everything else I do, like on my free time and stuff. And a lot of the times
the little things that get them out of where they're stuck, it means the world to them. And so
I know, like, when I'm watching it, I kind of felt for her because I'm like, oh, I've heard
stories from the people I work with, you know, and like I know how much they think like sometimes
like, now this place, nothing changes. Everything's the same. Everything smells like blah, blah, blah, blah,
You know, and you're, it sucks.
It does suck because in a sense, you've kind of lost your freedom and your ability to stand
on your own two feet without needing assistance.
And when you go to hospice, a lot of people go, okay, hospice hits.
That's kind of like the end of the rope.
You know, that's when, like you know, your time's coming.
And it's almost up and they just want to keep you comfortable until you pass.
And Eric did something so beautiful in this film.
He brought joy in the worst situation ever.
That's what I was about to say.
He brought joy.
He brought something to her soul that she has been missing in that companionship
and having somebody who's really like there and like concerned and like cares.
Yeah.
Because you could tell the whole thing, like they created a friendship that I absolutely love and adore.
And she trusted him enough to be like, here's my cat, take care of him, you know.
And that note.
And, and, but she's also, I feel like toward the end, while she's alone, she's like, I'm fearless.
I have nothing to gain, nothing to lose.
In a weird way, she got a sense of her freedom back and her independence back, you know?
And that's what ultimately, that's all you want and you want that connection with somebody who's just like, hey, you're good.
Hey, I got you.
And she was able to also be that for Eric in return and feel like she had a purpose for the first time in a long time.
And there was a reason for her being alive.
I thought that was done beautifully.
I like this as itself.
Yeah.
As its own film, almost like not.
I know it's like similar to it's connected to a quiet place.
But at the same time, I'm almost like, I like it just as is as its own quiet place.
Yeah, I mean.
Without any ties to it.
For sure.
And it's a prequel, too.
Yes.
This is beautiful.
And yeah, no, and I think there is something poetic and beautiful, too, about, like, finding, you know, fulfillment and,
And like, again, she thought life was so shit when none of this craziness had happened.
And then when everything just turned into chaos and mayhem.
And then she found this beautiful relationship.
And this guy reminded her, like, the beautiful little moments that they had.
And then, like, she found a deep appreciation not only for their relationship, but for life as well.
Like, that is, again, in such a crazy end, like the end of the world, basically.
I just, there is something, like, poetic and beautiful about that.
And I appreciated that.
Like, it still would have been beautiful if the world wasn't ending, just the relationship.
relationship. Just because their chemistry and their interactions are just so sweet and their and their
acting is so damn good. But the fact that like the world is basically ending around them with all these
scary monsters just add something like even more like emotional gravitas to it, I think. Again,
I really enjoyed it. I don't I don't know if I want to go into my rankings right now. Just again,
also too, it's been a long time as I pointed out a million times throughout the reaction in the review.
I just would say that I love the concept and the idea I thought it was executed great.
I think the acting was fantastic.
The makeup was insane.
Yeah, for sure.
And I thought the jump scares were great.
And I also did appreciate in a lot of the emotional scenes that they didn't use those for, hey, we're going to throw you into an emotional scene and then jump scare you, you know, kind of thing.
So I appreciated that.
Yes.
I'm never going to get you.
He's tied so hard.
I appreciate that they let scenes breathe.
And be what it was.
Yeah, for sure.
Because in horror films, you can use that as an excuse for.
Like, I thought they did it appropriately in that scene where she's dreaming.
And we see cars like, oh, this is a flashback.
Okay, boom, throughout the winter.
Yes.
Like, that was a good one.
Okay, I'll give him that.
That's a good one.
I don't think I'm going to, like, I don't have, like, preference on ranking on this thing.
I just liked it.
I like it for what it is, for sure.
It's good for what it is.
I feel that.
And, again, it adds, like, if you ever watch Quiet Place, too, when, when you see Henry and that whole village of people, you have a backstory and an origin that goes with that now.
And I think it was satisfactory.
Oh, 100%.
I was done very well.
And I'm not disappointed at all.
I thought it's a good watch.
It definitely is.
And I want more because I still want to also know how the other family does later on.
Because, you know, we still have that baby.
I can't remember if they ended it to where it seems.
I know they got the idea of, like, controlling these things with the sound.
Right.
But I don't remember if we necessarily had, like, a full blast, like full-blown, like, happy ending.
I'd have to rewatch the ending of
the second one, but I'm sure it's been a while
but. It's been quite a while for it. I didn't do it.
No, it was good. It was good. And like
I second everything

Wow.
