Starting point is 00:00:00 Senna. Pow. Continuing forward with Agatha all along. All along today, we are watching episode six, familiar by the side. By thy side. By thy side. Do you know what a familiar is? Someone that you used to date, but no longer because things ended on bad terms,
Starting point is 00:00:18 y'all just can't seem to work it out and squash whatever beef came between you guys. That's a familiar. That's the street definition of familiar. A familiar, from what my understanding is, like usually it's like a pet. Cats are often witches familiars. They can help with spells and stuff like that. But every now and then, I think you can have a human familiar. Vampires have them too.
Starting point is 00:00:39 I see. They do your work for you. So vampires have cats. Human familiars. This is a furry reference? What? A furry reference? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:00:48 You said cats. Okay, anyway. Oh, my God. Let's go find the next trial. Last one there is a nice person. Her performances have gotten better and better with each episode. I mean, I think they've always been good.
Starting point is 00:01:03 I'm not that nice. Uh-oh. I mean, he's also not that nice. It's like, he killed two witches. I suppose it's also the material that you have to work with that lends you the opportunity to do more stuff. I wasn't sold on her in the beginning, as you guys saw. Well, yeah, but in all fairness to her,
Starting point is 00:01:21 she was playing a caricature of a certain type of character. We don't have to hash that. I'm just saying, the moment, I just didn't like it. And then as the episodes have progressed, I've liked her more. Yeah. In terms of performance, in terms of the character, I don't know what to do with her yet because we're still in the same place.
Starting point is 00:01:38 We were at the end of the last episode as far as she's concerned. But they gave us a lot of time to just let these two characters have a scene together. Even just watching her performance in this, she's adding so many layers and nuances, right? Right, exactly. There was a moment where it looked like, you know, her eyes were full of tears. And it's like, wow. Conflict. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:57 Like, she feels really strong. strongly towards the boy, you know? Because at one point, she really did hope that he was, like, her son. Like, I think she kind of has that feeling of, like, feeling like a mother towards him. But she's also battling with herself and, like, her tendencies to be Agatha. Yeah, it's cool that there's, like, layers of feelings to her performance. I think it's really neat. It's really neat. It's got dimension to it. This pretty much leaves us in the same spot. It's just like, I just went through this with, The Penguin, because it was a flashback episode there as well. And that was an excellent flashback episode. I did enjoy this getting to find out exactly what happened, you know, going through his backstory and whatnot leading up to the beginning of the show. Yeah, it's really, really cool, you know, like when they're showing us that. But it does leave you as an audience feeling a little bit, like, frustrated, I guess,
Starting point is 00:02:53 because it's like, I love all that, but also I want to continue forward with the story. But it's a great cliffhanger because now we have to wait until next week, you know, and we'll find out more. But I'm just, with each new episode, I am just loving the show more and more and more. I find it really fun. Like, there were so many moments, like, with the different discoveries that he was making along the way. Like, I was getting chills. I like it so much. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:24 No, it's cool. I'm a little surprised we didn't have a moment of Billy telling anyone about his power. At all, like nobody, you know, because, like, I, I, I'm surprised, but I also agree with it. You know what I mean? With him not telling people about his mind reading? Yes. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I feel like that's something you would normally see in a show or a movie where it's like, by this point, a character makes a mistake like that. For some reason, the immediate comparison that comes to mind is Peter Parker giving his shit to Jake Gyllenhaal and Spider-Man. It's like, it was a dumb move, right? And then that ends up getting weaponized against you somehow. That's not where the show is going at all. He's pretty smart.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Yeah, but I thought we were going to get something that was alluding to the notion that somehow he was reading the minds of all the witches during the journey. And it's like we were getting almost like his perspective on the break-in and attempted escape. I thought we were going to get his perspective on the traveling and conversations we didn't know that they were, like thoughts that we didn't know they were having and he was reading all the while playing ignorant. I mean, maybe that would have taken too much time. But I would have sat there for another three, four minutes, you know, amused by that. I think that would have been interesting to watch.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Like, because, you know, while we're going through the course of the show, he has this sort of innocence and, like, ambiguity to him. Like, we don't actually, he seems so, like, just a follower of Agatha. And then we get to see, we would get to see, like, oh, no, like, he's totally keeping track of everything. Yeah. And it's like, it's like he said at the end, you know, he's not. that nice. Because if you think about it, he's playing her. He's manipulating her and he's behaving in a way that is going to make her underestimate him and trust him. I think she still sees herself in him, though. I think that's part of why she's still, there's something there. There's
Starting point is 00:05:16 something deeper there, which is just really interesting to watch. I loved it when she kicked him, by the way. I thought that was so great. Because it looked. You, you. You, you You were so tickled by that. I was, like, trying so hard to listen to what was going on. Because I didn't want to have another fiasco, like, the other time where we misunderstood what was said. So I was like, okay, I'm just going to let you have this, like, massive laugh. And I'm going to listen really hard just in case something happens that we need to pay attention to.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Look, comedians pause for laughter, okay? So you got, shows need to start pausing for that here and there. Even in Spider-Man, No Way Home, you know, when Andrew Garfield comes out the portal, they gave you they gave the audience a moment to cheer so it's weird now without the audience but I feel like that was necessary I needed that moment to laugh because that shit was so funny they were going for ha ha's in the episode with the whole boner thing like yeah you know every time he said something so unexpected it was like he was talking about the home value and his Blu-ray collection and this and he said a couple other things he had some some gems I really
Starting point is 00:06:18 hope that's not the last of him it would be so sad I think I think it is like they it's sad that in one division and in this show they've used him as a joke. No, but the thing is like, okay, you have the multiverse. He's got to come back. He's such a fan favorite. Sure, sure. I mean, we all love Evan Peters.
Starting point is 00:06:40 He's great. I feel like there's got to be a way to bring him back. I don't know. Maybe that's wishful thinking. Anyway, it's not about him. We're here about this journey. But they were really leaning hard into the bono jokes. I hadn't noticed that Agatha's t-shirt said, like, like Camp Bono.
Starting point is 00:06:55 I didn't cash that yet. But presumably she's been wearing that the whole time. So perhaps people already had a hint that he might be coming back. But that was pretty cool. You know, him being able to read minds kind of introduces a conundrum as far as like suspense goes. Because he can always be one step ahead of Agatha unless she's aware of his power. Yeah, we don't really know how. his powers work you know like there might be limitations that have not been addressed yet because
Starting point is 00:07:30 every single person whose mind he has read so far have been normal people did that's true I didn't think about that yeah but maybe Agatha's got some kind of protection yeah yeah but was was Billy I can't remember because I haven't seen Wanda vision in so long I only watched the one time was Billy friends the kid was he friends with that the boner character um Well, it's also been a long time for me, but wasn't he their uncle? Right. The only reason I asked that question is because he mentioned that he can only read the minds of people he cares about. Right. And so I'm like, okay, well, if they have a history together in the old world, as it were, then, you know, he would, that's why he's able to read his mind.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Yeah, maybe, maybe. Or maybe he was just saying that to his boyfriend to kind of make it seem nice. So instead of like, I can just read everyone's minds. Because why would he be able to read his parents' minds when he came out of the coma or whatever, like when he came to? Because they don't mean anything to him in that moment. I don't know. Because he doesn't know them. I don't know. I think he can just read.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Well, I mean, if we look at him coming out of the accident as him being born, then there's an immediate bonding of some kind. Those are his parents. I guess so. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. It's complicated. It's complicated.
Starting point is 00:08:53 but like I love I love all of that witchy stuff like how he he had a reading from Lillia and you know she's like oh your your lifeline is broken in two and initially I it's I know you always seem to think that I have it all figured out but I actually don't and so at first I was like oh maybe like he he was Billy Maximoff and then like he forgot and somehow magiced a new life and then, you know, suddenly remembered. But then obviously the thing that actually happened makes so much more sense, which is that the connection with Westview falling apart and the magic red bubble and all of that. And then his soul being like zapped into a new available vessel. There's part of me that's curious about some kind of, I don't know, it's, it hasn't, we haven't spend a lot of time for it to matter to us as the audience but part of me does wonder if he's going to like give back the body you know kind of like the end of meet joe black you know where death
Starting point is 00:10:02 gives back Brad Pitt's body um he like releases him because like he's inhabiting someone else's body right but like you said it's a body who was destined to die and in meet joe black he died but they gave him his life back this is right but okay the rules are different i know it's a different different story. Yeah, he's death. He has the dominion of that. These are witches. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yeah, dealing in like death and necromancy and whatnot. That's all black magic. Okay. Anyway, I'm just the thought that crossed my mind. I'm like, well, why not? Because the thing is, he knows the truth. His parents don't. Is that conversation ever going to come up where he has to tell his parents like,
Starting point is 00:10:47 this is the truth? I don't, I don't imagine that that's ever a conversation. conversation that we'd have to come up like he could just be nice and be like I'll just let these people believe that I'm their son you know if it makes them happy the truth shall set you free will it though I don't know um do we anticipate a guest starring role you know from Wanda from anything as possible because they haven't alluded to it at all we have like outside of Bonner have we had any guest stars in the show I can't remember I don't think so no one noteworthy you from like well obviously we had Sharon Mrs. Hart but yeah yeah okay that's true yeah but like yeah okay so I mean you're right anything is possible maybe they're saving it for the end yeah because at the end of Dr. Strange 2 yeah um multiverse of madness I like yeah she died but you know no face no case nobody I'm stealing from from Steph but yeah We never saw her body, really.
Starting point is 00:11:55 So who knows what actually happened to Wander? So that could be a good setup for, you know, having her back in the MCU. Yeah. I was just watching an interview earlier with Samuel L. Jackson. And he goes, Mace Wind is still alive. You didn't see a body. We've seen plenty of Jedi fall from heights and they didn't die. Mace Windo's alive.
Starting point is 00:12:15 And so, like, yeah, if you don't see your body, them's the rules. Anything can happen, you know? Also, even if you did, the show is demonstrating that that also doesn't mean dittily squat. And so it's very well possible that he's still alive. I mean, she's still alive inside of another body. But that's highly unlikely that they would just use a different actress to portray that character. No, I'm sure. Like, she's a very powerful witch.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Plus, she had the dark hold and all of that. Like, potentially she could do something. And, you know, she was dealing with stuff in the multiverse and whatnot. If anything, they could. just decide to do whatever. Yeah. You know? They have so much explaining to do with vision, though.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Like, yeah. That's what I want to know about. Like, ever since he just, like, up and disappeared, white vision. I'm like, what's going on? I honestly think they're still in the kitchen trying to figure out how to cook that shit. Like, they don't know what to do with it. They gave themselves, they wrote themselves into a hole with that one. And so they're like, okay, well, just at some point, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:19 we'll figure it out. Presumably he's on a spiritual mission of some kind. Yeah. Learning about the world, you know, kind of like apocalypse, you know, learning everything from the TV. He's out there kind of like Captain Marvel. Apocalypse and X-Men Apocalypse, I guess I wasn't clear. So maybe he's out there like Captain Marvel, like just absorbing shit and then he's
Starting point is 00:13:37 going to come back. So that's the only explanation I can come up with. It's like, why would you not be, you know what I mean? It's just so weird. Anyway, it's not about, okay, this was an interesting episode. It was. It was frustrating that. it wasn't longer so that we could keep going on the adventure.
Starting point is 00:13:52 But we have been through this kind of rhythm so many times and so many shows that I was kind of prepared for it. I thought it was going to end sooner than it did. I gave her an opportunity to really play. I apologize. I don't remember the actress's name offhand. Catherine Hahn. Yeah, Catherine Hahn.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Like, she was doing wonderful work, scene work. Yeah. And, you know, it's actually quite a big burden to be in his position in a scene like that because he didn't have much to say. And I feel like when you don't have as much to say, it's actually. a lot harder sometimes because you're trying to like make sure that your shit is still interesting even though you're not doing as much yeah you just got to be fully present right it's hard though to like because you can't give as much back you know what i mean and so i thought
Starting point is 00:14:31 for him not having as much to work with he was actually doing a very good job standing toe to toe with her in that scene you know yeah he's great so um overall fun episode you guys thanks so much for hanging i'm jabby kowe this is achara kirk peace out
