Senna. Pals.
I love that. You were just like...
Yes, It's time. It's time.
Yes. We've been waiting for the Moa, and he's finally here on Max, you guys.
We didn't even have to pay. Well, actually, I pay for a membership, but I didn't have to pay extra for this.
It's here. Incredible. Amazing.
I heard, like, this movie actually made a billion. Am I correct? I thought this, like, bombed.
It grows 434 million worldwide.
Okay, so I don't know where I heard about a billion.
I know the first one made like a billion.
Anyway.
This one still did pretty good for what people thought.
My expectations are not high.
I'm going to put that out there.
But maybe with that in mind, it might be more fun.
We're going to watch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
I fully intend to enjoy the mammoanus of this all.
It's going to be a party.
Mm-hmm.
I'm the king of a land.
I am Aquaman.
Ha ha ha.
You know me.
I feel like this is gonna be like a weird thing to say,
but I feel like this is the type of movie that my mom would enjoy.
Like, because my mom, she has no time for like too much drama or anything like that.
Too serious.
Yeah, too serious.
I take that back.
She loves a good drama.
When she's watching English language movies,
because English is not her first language.
She's like, is it fun?
Am I enjoying the visuals?
Am I enjoying the comedy?
And my mom loves, like, slapstick comedy.
And so I'm like, yeah, I could probably put this on
and my mom would be like, oh, that was fun, you know?
Yeah.
It was really fun.
To me, because of the Aquaman we know,
he's so distinctive as Jason Momoa
that you kind of have to make it broken.
I love the bro-y-iness of the character of the world that they've created.
And I feel like they've done enough work where I'm like, okay, this is just fun.
Yeah, and I feel like they really leaned into that a lot more.
In this movie, more than ever, he's full on just like Jason Mamoa.
There's like no distinction really between Aquaman and Jason Mamoa.
It's just like, he's playing himself.
Oh, Martin Short was the, I would have never.
Guess that.
Oh.
That's hysterical.
Yeah, he was great.
The little Java guy or the big Java guy.
It's so interesting because there are some things where I like adore Jason Mamoa, but
you're like, that's Jason Mamoa on screen.
Yeah.
And he kind of has this like, WWE turn actor vibe where you're like, that's Dwayne the Rock
Johnson.
That's John Sina.
But in the same way, John Sina with his character, his DC character.
Oh, peacemaker.
Peacemaker.
I'm like, that's my favorite of him.
Aquaman is so fun, but it's so interesting seeing Jason Mamoa just directed differently, because in Dune, he's not the Jason Mo- Oh.
Did he just put a...
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
No, brother!
He's set him up for such failure.
But he likes it.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh, it's disgusting.
That's disgusting.
Yeah, that's pretty gross.
But the music was fun.
I like all the amages.
James Guns taking over in Saffron are taking over.
Yeah.
DC, this is your last run.
Just make it whatever you want.
Truly, I mean, it's just like whatever.
Yeah.
Like, we're just having a fun time and having a laugh.
Like, I think the things that I enjoy.
the most were just kind of the silliness of it
because it just wasn't taking itself too seriously
and so I was like well if you're not taking yourself seriously
I'm not taking it seriously yeah and like
the kind of the the buddy cop aspect of it
was a little bit strange at first like Orm he's such a serious
character and then to just kind of have him
have this like 180 yeah this very comedic
relationship with his brother I'm like okay and but then once I eased into it I was like this is
this is funny like it's silly the slapstick comedy was it was just pure silliness I mean if you just
come into it with like well this is pretty much a comedy then yeah you're going to be okay
totally totally I think that the brother story was really fun and you always want to see a family
being able to connect and his arc from a total jerk
to this guy who's eating cockroaches now
and accepting the land is fun.
I was actually kind of touched at the end as well,
which was surprising.
Like when Jason Mamoa, Aquaman was just like, you know,
you're my brother, you know?
And he had the tears and his eyes.
I was like, oh, yeah, like, I feel it too.
I've got a little emotional too.
Yeah.
I mean, I guess as a sibling, I could co-sign that.
I think it's so silly to have, you know,
long extended drawn-out arguments with your siblings
or any family members but especially immediate family members
it's like come on life's too short it's too short
just make up and be friends you guys have such cool powers
yeah just have a good time how did you feel overall about like
the amber herds yeah i was really curious about what they were going to do
there because i had heard talks of her of them like really trying to look lessen the
as much as possible, which is why they probably leaned into that brother story.
I'm curious what the first renditions of the sequel would have been.
But I think they used her just enough in a way that I like her character.
I feel like unless you actually read the entire case and watched all the hours,
you don't really get to say much about either of them in a, like, career-ending way.
Sure.
I mean, I definitely
like got deep
you guys know if you've been watching
You are deep into it, but like Jabby
and I got deep into it. I didn't.
Yeah. And so there's certainly
like a sort of feeling
that I feel when I look at her
the character of Mira is awesome.
And I can see how they
really tried, you know, like she's in the beginning,
she's in the end,
and then they took her out for like
a massive chunk of the middle. And that was
probably the compromise in the way that
like it made sense because it's like of course
she'd have to come like her powers are
too good to not have her in
the battle especially to save her kid
like what would be the reason
unless she's they were just like
oh she's just ill the entire time. Unless she got so injured
from that first by Manta
right. Yeah so it made sense
I think strangely I liked
her character more
in this movie than I did
in the first I thought that she
was much cooler, but I think in the
first movie, and this is going to sound super trivial,
but in the first movie,
I was just very distracted
by her horrendous
wig. Her hair was very
bad. It looked good
here. It looked good here. They fixed it.
Thank you. But like, I remember
watching the first one and then
turning to my friend, and we were like,
oh my God, Mira's hair.
Like,
you have all the money in the world.
No, I know. I can never forgive
a bad wig job because there are hair stylists that can do magic so hire them yeah exactly like
why did her hair it's not a matter of millions of dollars it's a matter of maybe a couple hundred more
yeah or like maybe even just a few thousand more whatever it takes get the right way just get it
right install it correctly exactly she looked like a knockoff aerial in that movie yeah and that was not
good so yeah definitely
upgraded the hair in this
which I appreciated and I know that sounds
kind of dumb but like you know
that's just what I noticed yeah
yeah no I feel you it really
bothers me in some movies where I'm like you guys
I can see the net
yeah it's bad it doesn't look like hair
I mean I get it she's got like this bright red hair
or whatever but like still just make it work
I enjoyed this and like the other characters
as well like
Dolph Lundgren, his king, and Mr. Crustration.
Custation.
Custy Custation.
It was fun as well.
Like, it was just like cute little fun characters.
And I think probably my favorite was Randall Park.
And I still have no idea what his actual character is called because we just called him Randall.
Yeah, Doc.
But he was fun.
He was.
He was really fun.
He brought like a nice kind of fresh energy to the franchise.
It still baffles my mind.
He wasn't just a cameo in this.
He's, like, actually a proper character that they could potentially bring back,
although they probably won't.
But, like, he's a proper character in this.
And he's, like, a pretty significant character in the MCU as well.
I know. And kind of similar characters.
Very similar.
In different way.
You're working for different organizations, but you're, like, the smarts.
Yeah, he's basically, like, the nerdy guy who's, like, just trying to get in with the cool kids.
That's the energy that he's bringing to it.
And he pulls it off.
He does.
Like that kind of awkward, nerdy energy that we recognize.
That is just so endearing.
Yeah.
So cute.
Yeah, I liked him a lot in this.
And like the undersea stuff, they've always done really well.
Like, it's always just really fun to watch, like, just how colorful Atlantis is and how
beautiful the world is.
And so, yeah, that was really fun.
And I enjoyed a lot of the incorporation of, like, the Maori culture or, like, what, I mean, what, what is it, like, Jason Mamoa's Hawaiian, like, roots?
Yeah, because Tamara Morrison's Maori, I think.
Yes.
And Jason Mamoa is Hawaiian, right?
Yes.
So, I mean, I'm not an expert, but I'm, they probably still have some, like the Hakka.
Yeah, like some similarities.
Yeah.
Or respected each other enough to learn it
But it was really cool
They're such a great
I love the father-son duo
Yeah
I'll never get over to Mara Morrison
He's just so great
He's so great
He's so great
And his love
His relationship is cute too
With Nicole Kidman
Yeah
Like that was the whole thing
In the first movie
That really got me as well
Where I was just like
Oh my God I love this relationship
Between the two of them
And then also
just for the first movie
the representation of like
a mixed race couple
like the focus of that movie
I was like yes
and then I'm going to like the edge
of the seat to see if she comes every day
yeah like the romance was so sweet in that
we didn't get as much in this movie
because they were leaning into the bromance
but I love a bromance
me too so I'm okay with it
overall it's like this movie
is not a masterpiece
by any means
but you know
is it good silly fun
yeah it's all right
you know like I'd I'd
turn it on and I'd probably
show it to my mom
yeah it's really I think it's a fun
family movie yeah that's the review
it's a fun family movie
don't get too serious about it
yeah the movie wasn't serious
so yeah let us know
your thoughts in the comments below
how did you feel about Aquaman
and the Lost Kingdom.
And which one did you like better?
I don't know.
They're probably the first one for me.
Probably the first one for me too.
But it's a close second because I feel like the first one established itself
so the second one could just have a lot of fun.
Yeah.
But anyway.
Yeah.
Let us know you guys.
And we'll see you next time.
I'm Incharikuk.
This is Stephsabra.
Ciao.
